I wasn’t a huge fan of Roman after River and Rains story but I fell in love with him and Hale in this book! The push and pull was palpable and the ending will have you impatiently waiting for the next book! ………….. “Because he’s the fire, the heat and embers that ignite a blaze sure to send us both up in smoke.” …………… One thing is for sure, @authorcericci knows how write MM romance! This book is steamy and you will fall in love with these characters! This book picks up 2 years after the ending of River and Rains story, Roman is still struggling to move on but has been doing everything he can to get answers on the Enclaves involvement with Rain’s past. He starts his mentorship to become CEO under the very hot and unattainable Hale, a surprise Roman did not see coming. Hale is full of secrets and mystery and they both push each other to their limits. It’s a wild ride that ends with a shocker! …………… “Only You” “Always You” …………… Hands down a great start to the series and I’m excited to see how the other characters will unfold in the Enclave! I have know don’t that these men will keep us on our toes!

We got to know Roman in the "River of Rain" series and honestly? We all kinda loved him! And most definitely intrigued. Roman seemed to be such a strong, direct and passionate man who was caught up in such a freaky secret world where he simply had no choice for the trajectory of his life. Now Roman has his own book!! And it was sooo good!!! But, for me... I found certain scenes difficult to read, not to give too much away but anything more then two is such a crowd. It felt like nothing was sacred only because we know about the sad unrequited love Rome was dealing with before this book. (I mean, wasn't it time he had someone all for HIM alone?) Not to mention the particular blaze` treatment or reactions to certain... eh hemm... "crimes" nope ... not a one bad reaction... but it didn't detract at all from the story in my view. The reality of Roman's life was sadly inescapable, and was emotional to read about. My overall review is that it was a genuinely solid read. My personal favorite: the shout out to MBTI (which no one can really know unless you study the cognitive functions and forget the letters :P)

Holy crap! I have no chill. I knew I was going to fall in love hard with Ro. I was already halfway there before I even started this book! What I wasn’t counting on was the storm that is Hale!! HOLY CRAP! Can I say it again? Finding someone who can finally give as good as he gets with Roman made my fangirl heart explode with happiness. These two together are a perfect storm, and I willingly went along for the ride. The secrets and deceptions and machinations in this one are something I expected, but not on this level. Prepare yourself for the bumpy ride ahead and strap in! It’s rough, but steamy and so worth it!

The writing was fantastic just like her other two books! After reading The River of Rain Duet and finding out that we were going to be getting a book with Roman's story I wasn't sure how we would like him after everything that happened. Just know that C.E. Ricci did a hell of a good job redeeming his character. I love him so much even though I disliked him in the other books. What I adored most about Roman is the way he didn't ever give up on Hale (his love interest) he constantly wore his heart on his sleeves even though he knew it would get him into trouble. Hale was the opposite he was too closed off which was painful to read at times, but I still loved him. I highly recommend reading this book! It had some beautiful, heartbreaking and spicy moments! - I was suppose to receive an eARC , but I never received it since I had to exchange my kindle for a new one. I apologize for the delay of the review.

I'm so excited for this series! There's a lot of angst and mystery. Roman was not a guy I was loving after reading The River and Rain duet, but he quickly grew on me and redeemed himself. Roman and Hale together are fire...but not without some heartbreak along the way. I think this whole series is going to build off the next and, therefore, we're not going to get HEAs right off. We're going to have to be okay with HFNs until the conclusion. Which I'm okay with, but I hope to get updates on Roman and Hale in Ash's book. Highly recommend!

I went into TVS completely blind to CE Ricci’s writing style and previous books so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was blown away. Roman is such a strong presence from the first moment you’re in his head. I laughed. I hurt for him. Hale was so interesting...you want to slap him but you also want him to put you on your knees. Overall, this story was an adventure and I’m so excited for more of this world. CE Ricci is absolutely a one click author for me going forward.

God, CE Ricci did it again! Made me cry over her book. I never thought I'd feel sorry for Roman, but here we are! This story is about the fact that you should not give up the hope of meeting your love. I'm so happy that Roman and Hale are doing well! I love the twisted plot. Ricci's signature style!!! And THANK YOU SO MUCH for cameo!! I wept tears of happiness ❤️❤️❤️ The book is worth every penny!!

Chest pain, sweating, nausea ... so invested in these people and their story that I really thought I wouldn't make it through. Incredible writing, world and character building. If I ever go to Boston, I expect to find the bar. Too real.

Just when I think CE Ricci can't out do herself, she comes to bat and hits it out of the part. The chemistry between these two is electric. The story twisted and compelling. I loved every word.

This sexy confident guy who meets him at a bar and is upfront with what he wants from him. Little did they know that night was only the beginning of their downfall. Roman has always had things handed to him and never really had to work at getting what he wanted. Hale on the other hand is completely opposite and dislikes Roman for that. Forced together for a year Hale has to teach Roman how to be CFO of a multi billion dollar company. Tension is high as more and more boundaries are crossed and lines are blurred. Yet Roman and Hale has secrets that can destroy everything they are working towards. Who is Hale Calloway? Can Roman finally get his head straight long enough to finish what he started two years ago? When secrets are finally revealed who will be the last man standing? And who will meet their ultimate fall? First and foremost I would like to say, I did NOT like Roman when starting this book. (You have to read River of Rain duet to understand) I did not think he was redeemable in my eyes and yet Ce Ricci has done the unthinkable. Oh how I love a tortured soul and Roman is tortured. My heart broke for him! Hale was a complete mystery until I got towards the end. I liked Hale, there was something about him that I just couldn’t dislike. Maybe it was because they both lived a childhood that was not sunshine and roses. They understood each other in ways many others failed to see. I gave this story 4.5 stars because I feel like the Enclave wasn’t talked about much. Maybe it’s just me but I expected or hoped to learn more about who they are and what they have done. Of all the brothers it seemed like Roman would be the one to show us who Enclave is and what their reach is. With all this said I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

If you read River of Rain duet, you already met Roman Mitchell and you’re probably not his fan. These Vile Secrets is the first book in the Enclave series and tells his story. It can be read as a stand-alone but I definitely recommend reading the duet also! TVS was one of my most anticipated reads and it didn’t disappoint. I already liked Roman, and this book just made me completely fall in love with him. Hale was straight up jerk, but once his walls started to come down you relize there’s so much more to him. What started as an enemies to lovers, forbidden office affair, soon became so much more than they both expected. Their relationship was full of steam and amazing chemistry, with great push and pull, and lots of banter between them. I didn’t expect to get all emotional, but dammit that epilogue! It was so beautiful I couldn’t help but shed a few tears. "𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘹𝘺𝘨𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘴." CE Ricci has a way with her writing where you feel for every one of her characters. She just makes you so involved with their story. They become your friends and their struggles and happiness become your own. The storyline in this one was more slow burn and Enclave plot came into play much later than I expected. But in the end, it was fitting for this book. There are still 4 books to go so there are lots of questions left unanswered. I can’t wait for the rest of the series!

This is the Story Roman Mitchell one of fives members of a secret society named Enclave which is aimed to do great things for the world but some info has Roman questioning everything he thought Enclave was. now his mission is not only to take his place in the society but also learn the truth of what his ancestors really are. But In comes Hale Colloway an enigma of man, how does he fit in Roman’s world and what are his secrets and will he get him out of his head? As stated before this Roman’s story If you have read River of rain duet then you most likely met Roman and might have so feelings towards him, but surprisingly you will love him here, as you will understand his actions, and feel for him. As an Enclave member since the moment he was born his future was set with no other choice but to follow his duty but when he discovers that there is more to Enclave than what he thought, he makes his mission to find the truth but is he willing to sacrifice himself for love and is it worth it? Hale on the other hand is a pure enigma I remember my talks with C.E asking for little snippets about him, in what ways does he fit with Roman and how will he be. And one thing for sure is either you will love him or hate him his walls are so high that at times his actions seemed inexcusable and he acted too much as A-hole but is sure was incredible when he finally let go and let himself feel. Overall I love the book yes there were times that I thought WTF is that!! why would they do that!! But I pull through and made it to the end even will of those twists. The end is for sure bittersweet another thing you will either love or hate but I can’t wait to find out how C.E. Ricci manages to shape and surprise us with this new set of characters, so prepared yourself because the wait will be long as is an interconnected series and there are 4 more books to go and this is isn’t the most darker yet 😉. If you love Enemies to lovers stories with a twist this is definitely the book for you so definitely check it out.

He MIGHT have made some questionable decisions in River of Rain duet, but nothing I couldn’t forgive him for. 😉 Now with that out of the way ... Roman is a son of one of five families in the Enclave, a very old, very powerful secret society. Something happened at the end of River or Rain duet that made Roman suspect Enclave to be dealing in some shady business and is on a mission to uncover what that is. At the same time, Roman is about to take over as a new CEO at one of Enclave major companies. Hale is a mysterious, intelligent Chief Financial Officer working for Romans future company and in charge of Roman’s training as the next CEO. Hale is a little bit of an enigma. He is clearly attracted to Roman but goes by three rules: no kissing, no beds, no feelings. Even without those three for good part of the story, this book is sizzling hot. I mean probably one of the steamiest books I’ve read. The chemistry between Rome and Hale is amazing, and if I wasn’t already in love with Roman before even starting the book.. Hale might have won me over. They’re both very intriguing and I loved watching their characters grow and transform into better versions of themselves, together. Roman’s mission with Enclave sort of takes a backseat to his relationship with Hale, so not all secrets were uncovered but plenty of clues were given to keep us guessing and forming theories. The last 25% of the book had me sitting up in bed with my heart pounding and just when I thought I wasn’t going to tear up in this book, boom! Tears! There’s a scene towards the end that’s so beautifully written and had me feeling everything. Loved their story so much and can’t wait to get glimpses of them in the future books. Now Ashers turn 🥰🥰🥰

I ship #rale -This story is about an intense connection/relationship between two people that are caught in the middle of seriously big secrets, power and control. -Roman and Hale have an instant attraction mixed with strong adversarial hate vibes. Their chemistry is crazy HOT🔥 Their banter and games add spice and a bit of fun. -Both of them are non-relationship types, they both have trust issues. As the story progresses I understood why and my heart broke for them. -Roman and Hale both can be hard to like at first. They act cold and detached. They seem to not have much depth or feelings of empathy, etc. But, nothing is as it seems at first. -I definitely got caught up in the relationship between the two men, I loved the way it unfolded. They absolutely stole my heart and quickened my heartbeat with their scorching chemistry and insanely hot sexy times. -Surprise moments of raw emotion stole my breath! I absolutely LOVE Roman and Hale. #rale The conspiracy/ secret society plays a major role in how everything plays out, however the focus is still on the relationship. Slowly understanding both characters was like unwrapping a gift. There’s a lot happening towards the end that is fast paced and full of revelations and action. I loved this story, the characters and the writing! Really well done! This book stands out from the crowd, it’s unique and beautifully written. I absolutely loved it! I can’t wait for more in this series!

An encounter on New Years Eve brought Roman and Hale together. They leave together in the hopes of having a night tangled up within one another. No names, no promises, no calls the next day. They just wanted each other then and there. A unfortunately timed phone call ruins the moment and the night. Both decide that its best to just go their own way. Fast forward and Roman walks into the company that he is supposed to take over within the year. He is to be mentored for that time to learn how the company works. Roman doesn't care though. What he wants is to use this time to find out more about the operations he learned of in After Rain Falls. Those plans seem to also take a turn when he learns that the man mentoring him is the one from New Years Eve. Hale wants to stay away. He wants to keep the moments from NYE away from his mind when he is at work however, Roman doesn't make it easy. It's a constant battle, tug-o-war, between the two of them. Staying away and staying professional and giving in to the desire and the want that they both have. It doesn't last. They both fail and fall deep into the cravings they both share. The love that builds is beautiful. They both have demons holding them back and making them constantly fight themselves in order to love the other. The secrets come out and they work together to learn of the deception the Enclave has hidden all this time I was a mess reading this book. The emotions were all over the place. The twists and turns I couldn't believe and the ending... I am not okay. It was an absolutely stunning story and I can't wait for more.

Ultimately it’s his legacy, and duty - to not only his family, but The Enclave that is slowly clawing away at who he truly is, and what he’s made for. Hale is emotionally unavailable. Not looking for anything other than to be unattainable, he is quite frankly his namesake. On the surface he’s cold. A force so strong, that if provoked, it will leave scars from the words that escape him. Together they are fire and ice. Cliche as it may be - it is essentially who they are at their core.“These Vile Secrets,” by CE Ricci is book one in the Enclave Series. It is a forbidden MM romance and it gives us the push and pull that is Roman and Hale. It can be read as a standalone, but I definitely recommend reading the River and Rain Duet in conjunction with this to see the full picture in more of Roman’s backstory. Roman needed to feel worthy of being loved, and Hale needed someone to climb the walls he had built up. Together they were the perfect storm; so different in context, but so in sync with one another at the same time. I was so beyond ready for Roman and Hale; not only was it scorching the pages right off, but it was real and raw. I loved being inside both of their heads, and being the observer in their story.

I hated Roman going into this (blame the River of Rain duet) and I truly thought because of that reason alone, I wouldn’t love this book as much. But I was so wrong. Ricci did the damn thing and made me fall in love with him. Hale was a shoe in from the start, and then here comes Roman all broken and beautiful, stealing my heart little by little. Not only that, but these two as a couple? Their banter, chemistry, and pull to each other... ugh! Even when they were mean or stubborn, I couldn’t get enough. They are couple goals. I love them separately, but I love them so much more together. I won’t talk much about the plot because I don’t want to hint at anything, but don’t worry— you get some secret society juicy bits, too! This story and Roman and Hale lingered long after I finished— causing me to fall into a reading slump because they wouldn’t stay out of my brain. These Vile Secrets is the start to an interconnected series. It’s enemy-ish to lovers, hilarious with a dash of darkness, emotional and sexy! I feel like you get a little bit of everything with this one and I loved it so much! ✨

Hands down, These Vile Secrets is my favorite of CE Ricci's so far. I loved loved loved Roman & Hale! So much so that I'm reading it again because I'm just not over them and can't get them out of my head. I'm completely & utterly SLAYYYYED! For those who have read Ricci's first two books, Follow the River & After Rain Falls, you probably have a love-hate relationship with Roman, right?! I liked him immediately. His loyalty & love for Rain gave us a great insight to his goodness despite what an absolute shit he was in trying to win Rain's heart over River. And overall, put his life & future at risk to save his long-time friend without the reciprocation of love. Even though These Vile Secrets begins a new series, Enclave, it picks up where ARF left off but in Roman's POV. This is his story. You don't necessarily need to read the River of Rain Duet, but I'd recommend it just because it's incredible and is a great set up for what's to come. However, if this is your first book, Ricci does a great job of unfolding necessary events from the past so that readers aren't lost. As to not give away any spoilers, this MM enemies-to-lovers romance is everything I could've asked for... a tad dark, SCORCHING HOT chemistry, suspenseful, hilarious & sexy banter, and one of the most explosive love stories. I’m so excited to see how their story continues, as well as getting to know the other Enclave members’ POV.

C.E. Ricci did it, she actually did it. She made me fall in love with Roman Mitchell!! Seriously, how did she do that?? If you have read the River of Rain Duet by C.E. Ricci, then you know exactly who Roman is. If you haven't then you are going learn rather quickly that Roman Mitchell is arrogant and entirely too full of himself. He is one of the Enclave, a secret society that has been around for centuries and now it is his time to take his place and start the life he always knew would have to lead. His family is buried in secrets and betrayal; the only way he is going to be able to live this life is if he can get to the bottom of the corruption before any more people get hurt. First, he must pay his dues in the form of working at one of the Enclave's billion-dollar companies under their CFO, Hale Calloway. Hale knew that he was going to have to watch over Roman like a hawk for a year to make sure that he is prepared to take the role of CEO, but he definitely was not prepared for this man. He is a playboy to the highest extent and while he might be the most attractive man Hale as ever seen he knows never to get business and pleasure mixed up. Which seems easy but it is impossible to let Roman get under his skin at every turn. Hale is a cold; brick wall and he never lets anyone past his walls and no matter how hard Roman tries there is nothing that he can do that will make Hale break his own rules. Hale and Roman are a force, there is no other words to describe it. Together they have an undeniable chemistry that you feel radiating off of them before they even realize themselves what is going on. Rome is desperate to get through the thick wall that Hale has built and every moment he thinks he is making progress something makes those walls lock up tighter than before. Hale is starting to see that he was very wrong about Roman being just the playboy everyone sees him as. When they are left on their own, he starts to see a whole new side to Rome that he can hardly believe is true. Even with his walls up Hale can feel Roman starting to work his way under his skin but into his cold heart. A heart that he has never let anyone into. Secrets start to unfold; hearts get involved and before the end of the book you will feel every emotion in your arsenal for Hale and Roman. Tears were shed, I was blinding mad (because I didn't see it coming) and I was in love with these two guys which just irks me beyond everything. I wasn't supposed to love Roman but do. Hale had my heart from the start, I am a sucker for a guy with a broken soul so sue me. C.E. Ricci started her Enclave series making me fall in love for the one person I never thought I would even like. Now, I am deep into the destruction that is the Enclave and wanting to know all that secrets that Roman and his brothers are trying to unravel. We have just dipped our toes in to the world of the Enclave and if I had to bargain, I would say we haven't seen anything yet.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I was very impressed. This does connect with her River of Rain duet, which I haven't read. And I wasn't lost reading this. I do plan to read the duet though. This is an MM romance, and CE wrote it so well. I am a huge stickler for authors writing an@l properly. A lot of authors don't write proper preparation and it drives me nuts. But that is not the case with this book and this author. I really loved Hale and Roman's relationship, they were both flawed individuals who's personalities were very different. Hale is cold, analytical and closed off, while Roman is funny, social and the life of the party, sometimes too much. But their relationship is very much the kind that happens after having sex so often and being around each other so often feelings arise, even when originally a relationship was not wanted. I felt like the pace was nice, a tad slow in the beginning but not bad, but when it picked up it really picked up and emotions were high and I felt all the feels while they were trying to navigate through their relationship. This is book one of five I believe the author said, and there are plot holes here and there that the author did on purpose so with each book we learn more about the secret society that is the heart of the series. Reasons to read this book... - MM romance - secret society vibes - betrayal/secrets/revenge - spice!!! - really nice pace - well written I'm also just really impressed with this author because she only has a couple books out and her writing style is really great. Like I feel like with most new authors it takes them a bit to get comfortable with their style, but right off the bat CE is killing it

This read captivated me from beginning to end. I've been dying for Roman and Hale. Both these men stole my heart and have dominated my every thought. I'm so intrigued to know more as this series continues with the Enclave. If you've read CE's debut duet with River and Rain, then you've already been introduced to Roman. You get a glimpse of his back story with Rain and he without a doubt made an impression then. Their relationship is by far not perfect. They have demons of their own that their still trying to work through. They've lived completely different lives and assumptions are made. The chemistry between them is magnetic, raw, and palpable. The heated scenes are to die for, I felt like I was in the room as it happened. And boy did I want to be in that room...especially during that one night out at the club. I did not predict that ending and I don't know if I'm happy or sad about it or both. I feel raw from all the emotions that this story evoked. I just love Hale and Roman so much, they've found their place in my heart and have settled there and they are never leaving. CE you own me and that'll never change.

Seeing Roman get to 𝑎𝑐𝑟𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 fall in love was amazing. Watching himself give his 𝑎𝑙𝑙 and after everything from his past? Amazing. I adored him in TVS. 𝐴𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑚𝑦 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑒.’” I’ll say it… Hale Calloway was not my favorite at the beginning. Did he grow on me? Yes. Do I want to smack him in the hyoid? Also yes. BUT by the end I was loving him a little more. Maybe it’s because I was so team Roman and wanting the best for him. 😂 Overall, These Vile Secrets was an amazing read. Once I was hooked, I was done for. I felt this story was so perfect for Roman and Hale. From the very beginning to the very end. I’m now counting down until we get more secrets, answers, drama, and Enclave in Asher’s story.

Well author CE Ricci has gone && destroyed me again.. Roman && Hale’s story was so intense from the very beginning && I don’t think the feeling of it ever simmered. These Vile Secrets is the first book of the Enclave Series. Let me just tell you, I was hooked before the prologue. Lol something about secret societies just instantly pull me in && this one was no different. Each member of the society will get their own book. This one followed Roman Mitchell. Roman is the black sheep of the brotherhood. He didn’t choose this life && he rebells at every possible chance he gets. Hale is his new mentor at work && is essentially suppose to babysit him && make sure he doesn’t screw anything up, again.. Well all chances are blown to hell once they meet each other and find an instant connection. No matter how much they try and stay away from each other, they can’t. These two falling in love && breaking down each other’s walls was beautiful. But when lies && secrets are brought to the surface, I don’t even know how I would’ve handled it. Want a mysteries, heart wrenching story? Well this is it!

Let me start by saying I HATED Roman after the River of Rain duet .. LOATHED him, but damnit CE Ricci flipped the script on me and by a quarter of the way through that broken, beautiful mess of a man had me in love with him. Hale... You overbearing bastard with all your rules, I love you too. I cannot say much really about the plot cause let's be honest, if you read the River of Rain duet you know there is A LOT of secrets and mystery. I will tell you, however, that I loved that our male leads were able to flip back and forth from being the strong domineering one and the vulnerable one. They both have deep, dark secrets (obviously given the title) but learning about Hale, who is new to us and getting to know Roman on a deeper level, paired with watching them navigate this world and witnessing their character growth the journey was absolutely incredible. I love this story and I cannot wait to see how their story will intertwines with the rest of the series. I see big things not only for Roman and Hale but also with the others in the generation of the Enclave.

After reading River and Rain's duet by C.E. Ricci, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Roman's story. It definitely does not disappoint. This story picks up two years after Roman last left Rain, after everything changed. After Roman learned that the organization that he's dedicated his life to, the Enclave, may all be a lie. As Roman sets out to discover the truth while learning his place within the brotherhood, he meets Hale. The attraction is undeniable and the tension is unbearable. They both have their walls built high and neither really knows who they can trust. Any relationship between them would be forbidden, but will that stop them? If you love a good M/M romance, then this book is definitely for you. There is plenty (and by plenty, I mean A LOT) of hot scenes between these two, along with some mystery and suspense and angst. This is a great beginning to this new series focusing on the Enclave and the brotherhood of the men who are next in line to take over this secret organization. I can't wait to see where this story goes next.

"Only you" 🖤 "Always you" Gahhh! This book!!! Swoon freaking worthy. My kindle has melted, so has my heart. I went into this book blind so I had no clue what was to come. I didn't know that it was m/m. I don't regret a thing because it captured my attention and I was done for, completely obsessed with this story. Roman and Hale are two characters that will stay with me for a while. I absolutely adored them. I rooted for them, whisper yelled at my e-reader for them to get it together. There was smiles, tears, heartbreak and some point I set my kindle down and said to myself.... How could this be so perfectly written?! Like, bring you to your knees perfection. Because at that moment I was talking to myself. Lol. That's how good this book is, imo. It shattered my heart and put it together again. Though some pieces are still missing. I literally had kleenex in my hand while reading this book. By 80% in, I was crying and stressed tf out at what was happening. I finished this book with a teary-eyed smile on my face. I can't wait for the next story in this series. 🖤

"You're so cold, yet when I touch you, I burn," This my friends is the definition of Rome and Hale in a nutshell. See, it even rhymes. This book had me HOOKED. Just like the River of Rain duet, I was smitten with these men. From that very beginning in the bar to the first epilogue, I couldnt look away. My heart was racing the whole book. Just because of the electricity and the way this author tells a story and makes you FEEL. The sex. Oh mmmmmmmmy. It was everything and then some. HOT HOT HOT. THIS AUTHOR CAN WRITE SOME SEX SCENES. That strip club one. WOW. I have no words. Then what happened afterwards and how it went from something angry, to something hot to something to cherish. Those little "babe" and "baby" endearments had me GRINNING SO HARD. Just the masculinity yet also warmth and softness these guys exude had me drooling. I cannot WAITT for Ashers book. That last epilogue had my jaw dropping. WHATCHA GONNA DO ASH??? AHHHH 5 STARS IS SO MINISCULE.

ROMAN HAS MET HIS MATCH. I don't know where to even begin. I've always loved Roman so I knew going in that this book would wreck me....and wreck me it did. Roman is broken. His lack of self love is hidden behind the playboy act he performs so well but Hale sees through it when no one else can. AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT HALE. His character growth is amazing. At one point I literally said out loud "I can't believe this is even the same character". Roman brings out the best in him while also bringing out the worst in him....but in the best way possible? You'll need to read it to see what I mean. I don't think anyone could ever have penetrated the walls Hale built around his heart the way Roman did. This book is HOT. I mean really hot....like super hot. Scorching. Get my point? It's delicious. I need the rest of the enclave series IMMEDIATELY. This is going to be one of my favorite series of all time. I CAN FEEL IT IN MY BONES PEOPLE.

* I received a digital copy of this book & here is my voluntary review* OKAY WOW. This was my first actual MM romance book & it didn’t disappoint. I don’t want to give too much of the plot away because I feel like this is a series you’ll want to go into blind! But when I say some juicy secrets are spilled… you won’t even know what hit you! I loved how deep the plot when & it always had me on the edge of my seat. The relationship between Roman & Hale was nothing short of spectacular. The sexual tension & banter between these two was next level. I really fell hard for both of these characters & it was just so hard to watch them struggle. Roman has lots of obstacles to overcome when it comes to giving Hale the type of love & commitment he deserves. Both of these men are complex characters that will leave you wanting so much more. If you like strong plots with a crazy love story - this book is for you! Not to mention the spice in this book had me ROLLING! The chemistry & passion between these two is something else!

What a Masterpiece!!! I absolutely loved this Enemies to Lovers story. It is beautifully written with complex characters that are never exactly as they appear. I was hesitant about Roman being the main character, but I was quickly won over with his heart on his sleeve personality that made it hard to not fall in love with him. Meanwhile Hale was more difficult to get a firm grasp on, which is due to his personal armor and mask he uses to protect himself. I also grew to love the many aspects of Hale's personality and how he slowly opened up throughout the story. Both characters personify Fire and Ice and watching their relationship progress was honestly and naturally depicted, while maintaining their steamy chemistry. This was another home run by C.E. Ricci that has me anxiously anticipating her next installment in the Enclave series.

Since the introduction of Roman and the Enclave in After the Rain, I was left with wanting more of both. I was happy to find out that a series is being written. I didn't like Roman very much at first, but he won my heart. He deserved happiness. Hale was the perfect person for Roman. Both of them were fire. With a few interactions I knew they were going to be explosive. Man, were they ever were. I liked the way it ended, even if I wanted things to be a bit different. I loved the closure there in the end. I'm thinking of possible encounters between Roman's past and present. Considering some loose ties were left, I don't think it's the last time we see Roman. It seems like Asher will be next, but I can't wait for Kaede's book. So many Enclave secrets to uncover. 4 /4.5 stars

This is book one in the Enclave Series it picks up right after the end of After the Rain Falls. I have to say that I was not a Roman fan in After the Rain Falls. I just felt like he was a sh*t stirrer who was trying to wedge himself in the middle of true love. He had a lot of redeeming to do in my eyes and dammit if he didn't do it. The Roman in this book was witty and just aggressive enough to keep Hale on his toes which is exactly what that beautiful, buttoned up alphahole needed. The two of them were just like they described each other, fire and ice, and the push and pull between them was delicious. The banter was top notch and there were tons of literal laugh out loud moments. That same push and pull also made for electric chemistry between the two of them. Once a few walls came down, there was no holding back. If you are looking for some non-stop M/M steam, look no further than Roman and Hale. Their ship name, Rale, is beyond accurate. So. Much. Sex. I'm surprised these two were even able to walk around at all in this book. The smut is Katie approved. The secret society aspect of the book is really only in the last 20% or so but remember this is only book one! I have no doubt that CE is going to lead us down the very dark rabbit hole that is the Enclave. There are a few things that are purposely planted in this book that made me excited to read the rest of the series.

I've been looking so forward to picking up Ms.Ricci's work ever since I stumbled across her books through social media. The synopsis for this one instantly piqued my interest and I started counting down the days until I could get into it. I enjoyed this story! Roman and Hale's journey is far from an easy one. Gosh, I really liked how these two got under each other's skin and don't even get me started on the blushworthy heat between them! I enjoyed getting into their minds and digging deeper into this world as well. I just struggled at certain points. With These Vile Secrets, Ms.Ricci has created such a good read! I am so looking forward to picking up the River of Rain books and the next Enclave book! ❤

"This game between us is evolving, baby. It's only fair you taste the f****** consequences." Whew. Roman and Hale are messy. Chaotic. But oh so hot. I was definitely a Roman hater because of the ROR duet, buttttt let me tell you, CE definitely made me fall in love with him (no surprise there). Hale is an a******—1000%. But I love him. And together, they are explosive and they melt my heart. CE’s writing is so phenomenal, I fall in love on the very first page—every time. The way her words flow off of the page makes me get so lost in the story, that when it’s over, I find myself mourning the end. Roman and Hale (Rale 😉) are no exception and I know their story is over, But I still can’t wait to see bits of them in the books to come. I’m so ready for the rest of the Enclave series and the mindf*** it will bring.

Honestly, I don't think it's quite fair that C.E. Ricci has this much control over my emotions when it comes to her book characters because, quite frankly, I am extremely unwell after reading any book she writes. Anyways... I knew going into this story that I was going to love it because I've been a huge fan of Roman ever since reading about him in the River of Rain duet (highly recommend reading that duet because it's amazing and gives you a tiny bit of insight into Roman before his book). Or I guess, the proper reaction to him was a combo of anger and love. One of those characters you have conflicting feelings for yet love nonetheless. That was Roman for me. And I've been waiting (not so patiently) for his book because I was soooooo ready to dive into his head and get to know him better. And Ricci did not disappoint at all because I fell head-over-heels in love with Roman immediately. God, he's amazing. And Hale??? OH. MY. GOSH. I also loved him right off the bat. These characters individually have such a lonely feeling associated with them. But when they're together? It's pure fireworks and a sense of being whole. Roman and Hale had insanely incredible chemistry, tension, and their banter was EVERYTHING. I'm a huge sucker for back and forth banter between characters and theirs was so dang perfect!!! Like I've written for my review for the River and Rain duet, talking about the plot would be sorta spoilery since it's so much better (and more fun) to go in blind and learn things along the way. Just know that the plot was incredible, kept me invested, and also has me BEYOND excited for the rest of the books in this series being about the other boys in the Enclave. This book is a perfect combination of hate to love, the darkness the deception that comes with secret societies, witty banter, and two characters who melt for one another and make you crave the relationship they have. It's stunning, perfect, and yet another book by Ricci that has me falling head over heels in love with these characters, this world, and her writing.

“I could be your favorite mistake” I love Roman. Like I Love him. I want nothing but happiness for his poor tortured soul. He managed to work his wait into my heart and he there for good. He has quite a few vile secrets, he can be dangerous and ruthless, but he is also so endearing. Nothing kills me more than an insecure character that doesn’t fully know his worth. I wanted Roman to be loved and to love in return, I wanted his happiness and triumph. I was so invested. Hale and Roman are absolutely explosive and delivered exactly what I was expecting from this book. Every look and interaction from beginning to end was scorching hot and their intense connection just really makes you invest in these characters. The story is dark and intense but at the same time has fun and sexy banter between the mcs that always keeps you entertained. Dark secrets, wealth, secret societies, elusive and dangerous men, coupled with some of the most touching moments makes this a 5 star read. And don’t get me started on Hale, I will leave it as HOTTT!!!

CE Ricci is definitely one of my favorite authors! I absolutely loved her River of Rain duet. And now I’m completely blown away with the beginning of this series. I can’t wait for book two, Asher’s story hopefully. Roman and Hale are amazing. Roman kinda made me mad in the After Rain Falls, but he did deserve happiness. You don’t have to read the duet but I highly recommend it. Hale was perfect for Roman’s attitude. Thank goodness no cliffhanger for Hale and Roman. But does have a cliffhanger still about the Enclaves business. I loved getting both Roman and Hales points of view. I absolutely love this book. I highly recommend!!!!

I don’t want to give too much away, but we see a whole different side to Roman than we did in ARF. I fell in love with Hale, others have said that he resembles Rain but to me Rain was SO much more angsty & locked down. Hello issues. (This is a spin off of Follow The River & After Rain Falls) CE is so good at making you fall in love with her damaged boys, & I can honestly say that Roman & Hale can rale me ANY 👏 TIME 👏 the character development was *chefs kiss* writing was amazing as always, & we just got a lil taste of the overall plot but now I’m hooked & cannot wait for the rest of the books in this series. This book was SUCH a tease & I’m left with so many questions. Ugh def read this you guys + THE SEX HOLY GOD ALMIGHTY THE SEX OOOOOOF 🥵🥵🥵 she a steamy one yall FAV QUOTES: ✨ H*ll is empty & all the devils are here ✨ Youre every sinful thought I’ve ever had come to life. Roman & Hale did it.. they straight messed us up in the best way !! these two are just perfection!! You get the cocky playboy & the broody sexy suit !! these two together bring soo much chemistry, fire, sexy banter right from the beginning !! then bam hit with all the feels.. like all of them! Hale and Roman are going to make you hot and bothered, fall in love, break your heart then fall head over heels again ! That ending omg!! we needed that so much !!!I mean we need more (like always) cause ricci is a boss Queen !! We can’t wait for more of the enclave men

Oh my beautiful, broken boys. 🖤 Hale and Roman, Roman and Hale, Rale.....I’m not even sure where to begin. Perhaps at the beginning. Roman is not at all like I expected him to be, having been introduced to him in After Rain Falls. I went in with a preconceived notion that he was going to be a total d-bag and I couldn’t of been more wrong. He has depth and layers and all the feelings. I fully anticipated disliking Hale too, (because no one could be as awesome as River and Rain), but I really and truly didn’t. He had walls up as high as skyscrapers, but it was to protect his vulnerable heart and once those walls came down, I just wanted to give him a big hug. The physical and emotional chemistry between Roman and Hale is hot, hateful, loving and intense. I loved watching their connection grow. As with both of CE Ricci’s other books, (which are as equally amazing as this one!), she sends you on a roller coaster of emotions until the very last page. I hope that we get to see more of Rale’s story in the other Enclave books.

That is all. But also, Hale. Oooooh boy. C.E. Ricci is easily making her way up on my favorite MM Author’s list. She wove an intricate web of lies, deceit & all things that kept my heart rate up & my mental state absolutely distraught. Roman + Hale = RALE. And oh did we get railed. Spicy. Absolutely. Stunning. Yes. Totally swoon worthy. YES. All the feels for these boys. I can’t wait to see what’s to come for this series.

4.5 rounded up. These Vile Secrets is a secret society super rich super hot MM. Sometimes you just wanna read about skyscrapers and fancy cars and nepotism. This will hit all those buttons and then some. CE Ricci knocks it out of the park again with hot hot hot enemies to lovers MM that had me on the edge of my seat. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series. I need more about that secret society asap!!

Roman and Hale started the series off with a bang. I loved loved loved their dynamic! I was surprised at the twists, secrets, lies that is enclave. They both have witty smart mouths and I love it, they definitely kept me laughing with their banter. And Hale played dirty af at times. But their soft cutesy moments? I will lay down my life for those moments, no questions asked! 😭 I adored the aesthetic of their book, taking place in the city of New York. And I just have to say, Kaede I’m ready for you bb. 🥵

Roman. Roman. Roman. I love the anti-hero, the often overlooked & misunderstood boy. Total wh🅾️re for them. We first meet Roman in the River of Rain duet. I had my doubts that he could redeem himself but he absolutely did in this first installment of the Enclave series by CE Ricci. Hale was just perfection 😍 This was a beautiful story full of secrets and emotion. It broke my heart and I’m still picking up the pieces. Looking forward to the next book!
