Save your money!!!
I was very excited to receive this book; however, within minutes- minutes- I found glaring inaccuracies. As an example, Lesson 163, page 164 , focuses on learning the root 'ec.' The first vocabulary word is 'eccentric.' The problem is that the root of 'eccentric' is actually 'cent(r)' which means, rather obviously, 'center.' In the word 'eccentric,' the prefix 'ec' means 'out of.' At the beginning of the book, the author highly recommended approaching vocabulary acquisition by learning the roots of words, so one would hope that the lessons relating to roots would be, um, accurate. I'm soooooooo disappointed, and hope you don't waste your money like I did!
Not a fan but a good book for the right student
I hate to give this a less than optimal review as it clearly is a book full of valuable vocabulary- I’m just not a fan of the lay out. I’ve used picture vocabulary books in the past and will continue with that path. I felt there were too many words crammed on each page, not enough examples for each word (and half of them don’t have any used in an example) and the exercises are very short and don’t really allow you to really practice the words. I find it hard to remember all the words on one page with little practice before your on to the next page. It’s not the books fault- I’d say I’m a visual leaner and learn/REMEMBER new words best with images versus just word explanations. Also I wasn’t a fan of the pronounciation guide provided- I found myself looking up online how to pronounce certain words which defeats the purpose.
Enjoyable and well done.
I was very surprised when I received this book in the mail. For the reasonable price that I paid, I expected a thin, cheap workbook. However, it is lengthy and the cover of the book is a velvet texture--a great hand feel. I purchased this for my fifth grader to work on intermittently as a supplement to his homeschool curricula. The worksheets are very accessible and I appreciate the "extras" such as etymology etc. I personally would love to see an integration into the vocabulary builder app in which one could input the completed lesson numbers and build a customized quiz to aid in retention. Either way, great product to supplement a fantastic web/app presence and study tool. It is a fun supplement for our family.
Love this. It's not just a learning tool
Love this. It's not just a learning tool, but it engages the mind when you want some downtime from whatever has you so stressed out. It makes you focus and think on one thing... enhancing your vocabulary so you can at least better understand how to communicate more effectively with others.
Pretty good resource, but wish the lessons/activities were longer
This is a pretty useful vocabulary-building workbook. I think this would be helpful for any students who are taking the SAT or ACT as a prep for some words they might encounter. Each page has about 3 or 4 vocabulary words with the definition and an example of it used in a sentence, followed by a short activity (fill in, matching, etc). The words are categorized by various themes (words you might find in science, for instance). I just wish the activities were a bit longer, and that is probably my only beef with the book. Pretty solid book, though, especially if you want to learn challenging words and improve your vocabulary.
Wow. Lots of words.
I couldn't find where it gave a grade level for this book. I would say it's going to be great for people who want to improve their vocabulary for test taking at the high school and college level. This book is split up into sections such as 'Words with French Origins' or 'Animal Vocabulary' etc. Each section might be 2 -4 or 6 pages long. It covers a wide range of words. On each page there is about six vocabulary words. I'm not sure of the distinction but there are three or four main words and then in a little box on the side with another three or four words. All of them pertaining to the section. Each word is defined and a sentence is provided so you can see the word in action. At the bottom of each page there is a little quiz on those words. The quiz might have four or five questions and the format changes. One page might have a multiple choice questions and another page might have a fill in the blank quiz. The important thing is it gives you an opportunity to practice using those words. With all of that said, I don't think I'd call this a workbook so much as a review of vocabulary. If there were longer quizzes or more review or even if the quizzes would continually test words from previous pages then that would be much more helpful. IF you are about to take a big test and want to improve your vocabulary or refresh it, this would be a great option. I use this in my homeschooling with my high school kids. If you are getting ready to take the ACT or GRE this would probably be a helpful resource provided you have time to read the words, practice them and study them. If you want a word of the day to increase your personal vocabulary, this would be a useful book because often you will see opposites together on the same page so you can learn 2-3 words at once.
A wonderful surprise! Very good!
When I ordered this, I was trying to by books that would help me with learning French. I don't know why this was in the French section, but apparently I didn't look too closely at it, but I thought I was ordering a French Vocabulary Book. I was so disappointed when it arrived! I started the process of returning it, but then I spent some time looking at it and I realized this is something I could benefit from. It has 200 lessons, with about 8 new words per lesson. It was less than $10. It was a big, sturdy book even though it was paperback. I'm taking about 3 days per lesson because I want to thoroughly learn all the words. Other people might go thru it much faster, but this was the pace for me. I like it very much! I'm learning a lot. I am definitely keeping it. I highly recommend it for teens who need more words for their SATs and for adults like me, who have never stopped learning. Buy this book! It is worth every penny!

this book is excellent, I purchase it on my kindle and fell in love with it. so I purchase an hard copy for a friend in another country. I am sure he will love this book, I already started some of the exercise in the book.
Great book.
Excellent book. I hope there will be intermediate and advanced books coming soon.
Exercises are too short and too easy and there is no reinforcement
Frankly, the exercises are too easy. Many of them are just filling in the word next to the definition, which of course can be found right there on the page. Or matching the word to the definition. Some actually involve putting the right word into a sentence--which should be part of EVERY exercise. And while there are lots of new words, with well-written definitions on each page, there is only one small set of exercises for each set of words. No reinforcement whatsoever. I probably should have returned the book, but since I didn't, we are using it. I just would not recommend it, and I will definitely be looking for something else to go along with this, or to replace it, for next year's homeschooling.

Great book!
I love the book! Great vocabulary builder. Bought for personal knowledge gain.
Absolutely Prodigious
We have adopted this for use with our homeschooled, 10 year old, granddaughter. There are usually 6 or 7 new words per lesson. And, rather than rushing through the book, we are doing a single lesson each week. Part of her work is to write a sentence using each new word. And, she has written some truly unique and imaginative sentences! Each lesson is on a single page and includes a short activity. Here are sample words taken from lessons 1-5: prescient, precocious, jeremiad, thespian, and adroit.
Needs more exercises
I bought the book to develop my vocabulary but the exercises don't do much to make words stick. I feel like I'm reading a dictionary. I prefer the method of "Word Power Made Easy"
Vocabulary Builder
Awesome book for vocabulary review and learning new words.
Difficult book
Book is good but for students who are scoring 90% and above and with higher Lexie scores in middle schools not for those at lower end of the spectrum
Great book, well organized
I bought this book for my ten-year-old who said his vocabulary "wasn't challenging enough". I take one page of vocabulary words from this book and create a daily worksheet for him to do, spanning over one week, culminating in a test on Friday. My son likes how the author uses history in addition to just basic definitions, which really helps him to remember what the words mean.
One Star
THIs was not engaging and was not well thought out.
Great study material
I have been out of class for years, and have since retired.. I bought this textbook as a refresher to enhance my vocabulary and to exercise my brain! If by following the instructions one should build their vocabulary successfully. The book has tests, and answers. I'm also sharing this textbook with my grandchildren to better develop their vocabulary.
Four Stars
Very educational if your improving your vocabulary. Dose express words in meaning along with work sheets.
Better than expected
This book is excellent. It teaches and exposes the student to an array of new words in an easy to remember format. Because of the multiple assignments the student actually gets to experience different uses of the same word thereby truly learning the new meaning and not merely committing a random word to short term memory.
Great way to expand vocabulary
This book is great for building your vocab for the GRE. I've already seen several of these words in practice problem despite only being maybe 20 lessons in. I've also seen several of these words used in major news articles which is also a plus. Overall this book is a great way for you to expand your vocabulary even if you're not trying to do so for any standardized exam.
On the fence here
I was really excited to get this book. I think they could have picked better words to focus on, at least in the beginning. Not words I commonly hear or would use and my husband is a walking dictionary. I also think the activities are not that well done. Still trying to work thru it with my son but first impression was disappointing.
Lots of Useful Vocabulary.
Each page has a new set of words (6-8) which have information about their origin that helps remember the meaning. If I were still teaching I would do two or three pages a week and a quiz on Friday. Each page has a little review assignment that sometimes uses words from a previous lesson. Love this format.
MISLEADING
Purchasing this book depends on YOUR needs and how YOU plan on using it. I advise you to thoroughly review inside pages, as words are broken down into various groups, with mini quiz at the end....disappointed - not what I wanted Rhari
Interesting Book
This book is interesting and fun. I ordered it for my homeschooled 7th grader, and we love looking up the different categories of words and their origins! Worth it if you want to interest your kid in vocabulary!
Great!
I recommended this book for learn English. It is very complete and interesting.
Excellent Vocabulary Resource
The vocabulary is arranged by categories such as etymology or themes. The reviews are easy to pair with subject matter, rather than merely being random vocabulary words.
Being Able To Express Yourself Better
What I like is how this book teaches and then test your knowledge of what you learned. I bought this book for my 11 year old daughter to assist her with vocabulary words.
Summer Learning
Looks very easy to use. I got this for my kid to work on over the summer and its really easy from what it looks like I might just have jump into the lessons with her.
Much better options out there
Not horrible, but there are much better options out there.
boring
Not a useful book for a class.
Good vocab book
Like the vocab challenges, not to hard, not to easy, something to do, while keeping your mind thinking and your remembering words you may not always use.
English vocab resource!
I bought this by accident wanting a Spanish vocab book but this would be useful for students studying English vocab!
Winner for us
My 16yr old LOVES this book. The format and words included make studying vocabulary feel like less of a chore.
I love this book!
This book is so well put together. I bought it for my granddaughter and found myself reading it and learning!
Great curriculum
While this wasn't quite what I was expecting, it made a great addition to our curriculum! My children have already learned a few new words!
Useless
The book bring, at most, words that nobody uses on daily basis so, unless you want to write a poem, it is USELESS. Don't spend your money like I did!!!
Book could be better
The book is a bit complicated to use. I wished it offered better examples and practice sentences using the new vocabulary.
Great book for building vocabulary.
I wanted to build up my vocabulary and I bought this workbook. It turned out to be a great help.
AWESOME WRITTEN BOOK
Must have for those enriching their vocabulary and communication skills. Well written.
Buy it.
I know very many, many, many words now. Very many. Like, lots of words. Thanx to this book.
Book for teenage and above
Looks like a great book. Although, this is definitely not for kids. Had to return it.
Not for Loaners
Hard to follow. Not for self starter. Should be for class study with Teachers.
Diet GRE prep.
This book is a must for those of us who want to use English as a smoke bomb to escape conversations.
The best English vocabulary book
I purchased for a high school kiddo. She planned to study a lesson every single day. The activity helps her repeat the previous lesson. She also checks her vocabulary using the Magoosh free application.
New words
Really fun and good learning no words and there meaning.
MAKES STUDYING EASY
Words have a way of becomiing addicting. Why? Because words are power. You can beat up the biggest kid on the block with words. And this book makes it easy and fun. Buy it!!!!

Not for advanced readers.
Ok for beginners I think. You should look at the online pages before buying. I didn't care for style.
Vocabulary book
It is a good book for a 5th or 6th grader, but not a high school or college bound student.
Non Spanish book
This book was stuck in the middle of learn Spanish books but is an English grammar book. This needs to be moved; also my costs need to be credited as it's useless to me.

What an AWESOME book! I just had a long discussion with my daughter (who is a teacher) the other day about the differences in which children are taught today as compared with when she was a child and even more so, when I was a child. I knew the meaning of A LOT of the words in this book. My guess is that the kids graduating in a few months would say they have never heard of many of the words, let alone be able to tell you their meaning. This book was well organized and easy to read. You don’t have to keep up with a plot or be kept in suspense until you have time to turn a few pages. It took several days to get through at that pace, but it was fun. I plan to send it to my grandson because he is at that ‘soak it up like a sponge’ age. Great book for someone that wants to learn something new every day, without the pressure! I took advantage of an offer from the publisher to get this book free and with no obligations. This review is given by choice.
A great resource for anyone who wants to be a better reader, writer, speaker, or thinker
If you want to improve your life, expand your vocabulary. This book is more than just a list of words and definitions – it emphasizes how words function in context. Instead of simply memorizing or recognizing new words and definitions, you’ll become an active participant in building your own vocabulary. Each of the book’s 200 lessons groups 6 – 8 words by category and theme. Animal words, colorful words, words about flavor, words from other cultures, and words beginning with each letter of the alphabet are just a few of the lessons. A pronunciation guide and a brief definition accompany each word. Many of the words are accompanied by sentences showing word usage and a brief fact or two about the word’s origin. Each lesson includes a short activity like word and definition matching, unscrambling, or filling in the blank to further reinforce the new words. Words appear in each lesson in order of difficulty. There are recommendations for parents and teachers about setting expectations, motivating students, and measuring progress. With an emphasis on retention, not just parroting words and definitions, this book is an engaging tool that, used frequently, will generate solid results.
Great logical book to build a vocabulary
This book has great structure and logic of English vocabulary. Recommended to ESL students (whose English is not native.) Thank you
Interesting Lessons to Increase Your Vocabulary
I can see this book appealing to those who have SAT or ACT tests to take. As someone who completed my(hopefully last) degree in 2015, I find that as I have gotten further from academia, that I seem to fall back on words I know, rather than expanding my vocabulary. The Vocabulary Builder Workbook immediately appealed to me as a way to improve the presentations I give as well as my writing. I liked how the lessons were organized and that each one ends with an activity designed to test what you have learned. Words from Myths, It's About Time and Words Beginning with Different Letters of the Alphabet are just a few lessons designed to teach over 1400 words. Some days it seems like all I do is send and receive texts and I never even think about 'real words' since everything is abbreviated. This is a great way to commit a bit of time each day to build my vocabulary. Whether you are a student or just want to improve your writing, I recommend this book. Thank you, Chris Lele, Zephyros Press and Callisto Publisher's Club for the complimentary copy to read and review.
Not the best choice !
This book has a lovely vocabulary . Yet there are some inaccuracies pertaining to several words. The careful reader should note them and refrain from learning the wrong definitions. For example, the word ' centripetal ' on page # 96-Moving away from a center point. That is absolutely wrong ! The right definition has to be: Moving toward the center point. In fact, the word 'centrifugal' means moving away from the center. Another word which I would like to comment on is 'bellow'. If you look it up in the dictionary , you will note its meaning is to 'shout in a loud voice'. Yet on page # 147 of this book you will read its definition as ' to laugh loudly and deeply' which is not very correct. The verb 'bellow' should not be associated to laughing in particular , at least from what I have seen in the WB dictionary. On page #157, the book says that 'transverse' is a verb which is completely wrong ! This word is an adjective .I guess the author confused it with the word 'traverse' which is the verb. On page # 174 the author , I assume has confused the word ' factitious' with ' fictitious' I think fictitious means fictional , not real , whereas factitious means affected, unoriginal.Pity that he did not pay attention to this. As for the exercises contained on each lesson , I would say these are insufficient. In order to commit any newly acquired words to one's memory , retain them for the long run , and retrieve them once in need , one needs more practice. The exercises in this book seem to me to be rather superficial and too short to be considered anything serious. Some words are not practised at all , but show up as mere definitions. I was striving to rate this book as a three star. On one hand , the vocabulary contained is edifying and illuminating. On the other hand, the exercises seem to fit the mind of an elementary school pupil rather a university student.
It Works in YOUR Time Frame!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079ZN846X/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 It's been awhile since college and it's nice to have a book I can reference for a quick lesson or two. That's really the power of this book---not the vocabulary words, but the way it's laid out. There are a number of ways I could refresh and build my vocabulary, but being able to do one lesson, two, four or whatever have time for is really the key. I also see this as a help to some of my students that think that it's "too hard" to learn new words or that's it's not necessary. I hope you love this book as much as I am.
Should be in Language Arts curriculums
This workbook is a great tool to have for anyone preparing for SAT's, ACT's or just preparing for college in general. Expanding your vocabulary is never a bad thing! There are a total of 200 different lesson with each lesson offering six to eight words that fit into that particular lesson's categories. Each lesson begins with three words, arranging from easiest to hardest. Each of the 3 first words offer it's part of speech, pronunciation, definition, example in a sentence, the history of the word, and little piece of information about the word to remember. The remaining 4 or 5 words are only provided a part of speech, pronunciation and definition. The remaining words also range from easy to difficult. After each set of words, there is an activity to complete the sentence with the correct word you just learned about. I believe this book should be part of the Language Arts curriculum in high schools, preparing them for college.
Excellent for Building up Your Vocabulary
I absolutely love this book. Why? Because I am a bit nerdy and always have been. I love learning new words to increase my vocabulary. I actually have been using this book with my son. He is about to be 10, but he shares my love for learning all kinds of new things. He is homeschooled so I added this book into his curriculum. It is great for highschool, college, and adults of all ages. I like the way that it teaches the words with the definition and then has you answer some multiple choice questions and fill in the blanks using the new vocabulary words that you have learned. I also like that there is a pronunciation guide in the beginning. 200 lessons to learn, over 1400 words. I found myself learning quite a few new ones and clearing up some confusion over some that I thought I already knew. I received a complimentary issue from the publisher.
Useful for expanding your vocabulary
As a freelance writer, I find this book very useful for expanding my vocabulary. It includes the definitions of over 1,400 words with various roots, prefixes, origins, and more. There are helpful sections that help you distinguish between words that are commonly confused, words have that secondary meanings, etc. There are also short activities and quizzes throughout the book to help you practice the new words you learn. This book is perfect for students, teachers, writers like myself, and anyone who simply wants to learn more vocabulary words. I also plan to use it to help my kids study for future spelling bees! I received a free copy of this book from the publisher for my review. All opinions are my own!
Excellent book to increase your language skills with easy lessons
This is a very interesting book to increase your vocabulary. If your using this to improve your child’s language skills, there is a section for patents and teachers along with instructions on how to use the book properly. The book is broken down into lessons, such as the Prefix section in lesson one. Each word is explained, showed how to pronounce, and used in an sentence. There are activity sections that you complete by putting in the correct word. One thing interesting was how many English words come from French words. There is information on how these words came to use and translations how the word was worked into a English. Of course in addition, there are words used from the German, Italian, and Indian words too. One word that surprised me was “Poltergeist “, which is a German word. There are two hundred chapters of words and exercises with each one. Each chapter has on an average of seven to ten words, and there are many interesting chapters such as “what did you call me?”, “Annoying words”, “make up your mind”, and 197 more. Although I think this is geared towards students, it’s an excellent book for adults too. Increasing your vocabulary will impress coworkers and upper management at work. It’s an easy book to use, and go at your own pace as so you learn what you read. We are often judged by our knowledge and this book will advance your speaking skills to a new level. The lessons are very simple to build up your vocabulary, and or to build your child’s vocabulary. This would be great for parents and their kids, both learning a better vocabulary. This book was presented to me at no charge for review. I am under no obligation to give a better rating than its deserved. I really did enjoy the book, and I honestly read every page, but did not do the lessons. I honestly wish I had this book before I retired as knowledge is power, and with this you advance your skills and work abilities. I strongly suggest this book to all ages, especially for working people at lower level jobs, or even those at higher level that want to advance more. Excellent book, and yes, I will do the lessons In the future.
A Great Gem In Language Development
This is a wonderful book for those who want to expand their vocabulary or learn words. I am a firm believer in building vocabulary and though I am not a teacher, I am a mother and this book is a gem in language development. The layout of the book is easy to understand and the table of contents a the very start is well constructed. The book provides information on its use and ways to break down the lessons. The book features 200 lessons and definitions as well as how to pronounce the words with a complete pronunciation guide. The lessons contain about 5 to 6 words and exercises, which include phase matching, sentence completion and defining the word from its "root history". Overall, I am very pleased with this book and I highly recommend it. *I received a free copy of this product from the publisher, for review.
Great for Everyone
This has been a great refresher in vocabulary and a great way to add new words to my daily life and just to brush up so that I speak much better. It's very easy to follow and packed full of great information. I like that I can have it on my kindle so when I am waiting on something or have a few extra minutes I can pull it up fast on my kindle and go through a few pages in no time. I very much enjoy how each lesson is organized and at the end each have their own activity designed to go over what you had just learned which really helps me in retaining the information. This is such a great book for just someone whom is wanting to improve your writing or vocabulary but also great for students as well. I highly recommend this vocab book.
Elevate your command of the English language and impress your audience with your scintillating conversation.
Incredibly well-researched primer on English today. A "must-have" for everyone who wants to elevate his vocabulary and conversation beyond the pedestrian level. The best part of the book is the exercises which develop and perfect the readers ability to associate words with themes and relationships such as antonyms, synonyms, nuances, and finding the perfect word. Every High School and University should provide a copy to its students. This book is way beyond a Webster Dictionary or a Rogers Thesaurus and at the price it is an incredible bargain.
Great for students in a classroom, not so much for the average adult looking to expand their vocabulary.
I'd like to express my feeling of gratitude to the author for putting out a book that will help everyone expand their vocabulary. Schools would definitely benefit from having this book on hand to help teach their students how to increase their vocabulary, which in the long run will help them prepare for their future education. For an individual who wishes to expand their vocabulary, it is hard to stay focused on this particular book. Since it is set up in a way for students to learn in a classroom, rather than an easy to follow educational book for adults up in their ages. In viewing this book, from a standpoint of a young student I would rate it a 5, but as an adult, I will give it a 3. It seems a bit too extreme for the end user, I guess I lost interest in it halfway. There has to be an easier way to help senior citizens expand their vocabulary.
For the Love of Words
I have enjoyed this book so far. The concept is well thought out. Each lesson has groups of words grouped in logical ways. Sometimes by origin, by prefix or suffix, or by other unique common threads that make learning them easier. Three of the words have both a definition and an etymology which I personally find interesting. The other words are defined as well. All words are used in context as well as how to pronounce them. There is a short quiz to test your understanding. I would recommend this book for anyone who has an interest in words, in improving their vocabulary, or even for academic study. This would be a good too for homeschool, or additional SAT type practice.
Incredibly effective vocabulary growth tool
I recently took the GRE and I was especially concerned about my vocabulary knowledge. It's been a few years since I'd put any effort into strengthening my vocabulary. This book helped me immensely. I even recognized a few words on the test that I wouldn't have had I not used this book. The organization of the book makes it especially effective and maximizes the progress one can make by grouping a few (5-8) similar words together in predefined categories and provides short definitions and simple exercises to help the reader remember them. Because of the small grouping there is a constant feeling of achievement and accomplishment. And because the words are grouped into memorable categories, with simple definitions, and good exercises, there is a three-pronged approach to learning and expanding vocabulary. Highly recommended.
A great vocabulary helper!
Excellent vocabulary book to help you learn the correct way to pronounce words, how to use words to describe objects, and how to use words in a sentence or paragraph. There are lessons to help you understand how to structure a sentence. This book would be perfect for students to help them write book reports and research papers. Also a great book for parents and teachers to help with lesson plans or to help just to write a letter. This is a great book that will be a great asset for many years. I received a free copy from the publisher for my honest and unbiased opinion!
INACCURACIES?
Thank you very much LAM for your very descriptive review. If one is learning of course one would want each and every page to be grammatically correct. I am surprised that a teacher wrote a review and didn’t mention it and no other person mentioned it; that tells me there’s a lot to be desired as far as people not having command of their English language skills. What is even more surprising is that the author or anyone related has not stepped up and commented on the inaccuracies. I will not be purchasing this book after all!
Smarter than before
Great book to build your vocabulary. The words and phrases are easy to learn and understand. The day to day structure makes it easier to memorize the words. Great book for all ages who wants to build their vocabulary. I received this ebook for my honest opinion in no way has my opinion been influenced by outside sources.
Not enough practice
Definitions of some good vocab words and a short 3-5 question quiz (on the same page as the answers) did NOT help me retain any of these new words. If anything it is a vocabulary introducer, like someone you meet that you think is nice and later can’t remember their name...
Practical and easy to learn- increase your vocabulary
I grew up in small town Vermont, and although I did well in school, I always felt as though I had a smaller vocabulary than I should (especially for someone with a masters degree). As a single mother of four, working full time, This book gives me the opportunity to learn a wider range of vocabulary at my own pace. Easy to follow and engaging.
Fun For All Ages!
Book received in PDF form for review. All opinions are my own. Wow! My daughter and I had a great time going through this workbook. We're both loving expanding her vocabulary and reintroducing me to a few words I don't use much. We plan on keeping with this book until we go through them all. I'm so excited!
Great for those always striving for more
I love this book. it is so perfect for me. I’m always looking for ways to expand my vocabulary but who wants to read a dictionary. This book keeps me engaged and teaches me vocabulary without me having to read a dictionary every day I learn a new word now. Very well written and easy to follow.
Not for those expecting a nice leisurely read
Not for those expecting a nice leisurely read. This is a workbook in every sense of the word. My daughter and I are enjoying improving our verbal skills by doing a page or two a day. Cool book.
Great workbook!
Very useful book if you want to expand your vocabulary. The lessons are simple and organized, at the end of every lesson you get to test yourself to see if you learned/understood. I found this workbook very helpful and not only do I learn new words and their definition but also how the word functions in context. It doesn't matter if you're a student, writer, reader everyone should always be interested in expanding their vocabulary.
Good start for improving vocabulary
Pretty good for those looking to improve their vocabulary. Especially helpful for those preparing for SAT, ACT, or other college bound testing. Please note I received a free preview copy before release. My opinions are my own and it was my choice to post a review.

Worth the read
This vocabulary builder book is beneficial even for adults. There is a lot of reading and assignments to put what you learned to direct practice. I would recommend this book if someone is struggling with his or her vocabulary.
Simple and easy to follow...
Everyone needs a vocabulary builder. This a good helper for everyone. Well written and simple to follow.
Useful
I used to read the dictionary when I was young so this is just a delight to read for me, the words abd lessons did hold my attention overall great
With all of the texting shortcuts and abbreviations this book was a blessing!
With all of the texting shortcuts and abbreviations this book was a blessing! Perfect to make your brain work a little and use different words. Loved how this made me think again about what words I used.
Radical News Recommendations Not Good
The author should not have encouraged reading highly biased, unreliable news sources (NY Times, The New Yorker, The Atlantic). Recommending less radical news sources would have better suited a book that's based on logic and reasoning. Especially because there are many young readers whose minds can be easily corrupted.
Building a better vocabulary is key
I enjoyed this book because not only is it easy to read and understand it was a great building block for my vocabulary. There’s nothing that I didn’t really like about the book overall it’s a good book.
Vocab builder
This is an awesome book. Definitely grows your vocabulary
A good starting point to enlarge your vocabulary.
The definitions are concise, but they give you a thorough understanding of the word. I liked the entire book nothing to dislike.
GREAT BOOK
I LOVE THE SIZE AND HOW EVERYTHING IS SET UP.
Definitely recommend it.
I will be going back to school and this book was a great refresher and even clarrified a couple things for me. I would definitely recommend this to high schoolers and even middle schoolers as its never a bad time to learn new vocabulary words!
Very good book/5 star rating...
The book is very good! Helps a lot in adding more words to your vocabulary. Very good and interesting. Would give it a five star rating..
Dictionary is best
Not so helpful
Great for adults and teens
I wish I would've had this book for the SAT... I've always loved learning new words and this book is an excellent tool. It helped me pick up the words quickly too.
Not what I expected.
I thought this would be mail to me not having to read it from a phone or computer. Not what I expected will cancel order.
Great way to learn without it seeming like a chore
Great workbook-style vocabulary book. The activities helped me learn, without feeling like I had to sit down and memorize a lust of words ( pretty sure I'm done with that). A great book for someone studying for the SATs or GREs!
Recommend
This book is very helpful and long in length. It is also an easy read which is very helpful.

The vocabulary builder workbook: simple lessons...
Si me agrado por que es un excelente libro para estudiar en cursos de inglés, cuando se sigue la cerfificación. Yo personalmente lo recomiendo. Jaime Za Diciembre 25, 2019

Very good
Good
Good content. Has lots of words. Came in good condition. I would recommend.
Really useful for adults too
I am an adult with a limited vocabulary and I am learning so much. Highly recommended.
One of the best books I've bought for the classroom
A brilliant resource for secondary school teachers. My students have responded really well to the introduction of new vocabulary, thanks to the clear definitions and worked examples, as well as quick tasks. I really like the way words are grouped thematically, which makes it easy to link new vocab directly to broader topics being studied, as well as the focus on just a few words at a time.
Love this book- good brain food!
Brilliant! Easy to read any random page just for brain food... obviously written by someone very enthusiastic about words which makes it a happy read.
great vocabulary builder
i use it extensively with my Polish ESL students
Attractive
excellent
Waste of money
Absolutely zero useful for my classes.
Great book
That vocabulary workbook is very well designed with lots of examples, perfectly suited for I believe non-native users of English who wish to enrich their vocabulary in an organized manner. Chapters are very clear and contain one activity per page with solutions at the end of the book. The emphasis is laid on synonymy, false friends or prefixes, but not only, and the overall presentation of the workbook makes the reading particularly enjoyable.
Some inaccurate or poor definitions
Really disappointed in this. Would like to return but did not look inside until too late. Not a good Vocabulary builder. Would never recommend for either an ESL or native speaker. (I have my MA in literature and teach writing).
Great lessons that are extremely easy to follow
The design of this book makes it so easy to teach and learn. There is no guessing that you are progressing, and it really does have great words and lessons! Got this for my boyfriend who wanted to expand his vocabulary and now we both do it as a little fun activity.
Great
First, I loved that the cover has a matte-finish. The exercises are pretty good. The pages and text are beautiful. Feels heavy.
Five Stars
I feel this book helps every one ( not for students preparing for exams)
Great structuring and good explanations
Amazing book. Clear and lucid explanations. The flow of the book is also very good. A must book for vocab.
A good book to improve vocab
Just received the book today. It was in good shape. I can't comment on the content right now but it seems quite good to me.
Ok
Amazon velocissimo e comodo specie se cerchi libri particolari.
user-friendly book
The book is not in an alphabetical order, different from some other books, which makes the book not that boring.
A good book.
