Change your life and be happy
Looking back on the last 50 years of my life, one of best things that ever happened to me was my wife's uncle telling me to buy and read this book. That was a year before I shipped out for Vietnam. A few years after I returned, I remembered his words when we found out he had passed and I bought the book. We had two kids, paycheck to paycheck, and no savings. I read the book and it hit home; hard. Slowly, week-by-week, we started to build savings. Now, we have a good retirement, well off and secure. This book started it off. Easy to read and understand, timeless message. This book should be required reading for all school kids. It doesn't espouse greed like Think and Grow Rich. It simply teaches that you already have the ability to grow your prosperity from what you already have. READ THIS BOOK and change your life forever.

I buy this book by the case and give it to all the young people (14-25) in my neighborhood. It's an easy read and gives seven basic principles on saving and investing money. I was raised on the 10% rule and have passed it on to the next generation. It is written in parable form, so it's interesting as well as instructive. I highly recommend this book of wisdom for the youth in anyone's life.
Read it.
Do yourself a favor and buy this dang book. The lesson(s) in it are priceless and I would have gladly paid more for the insightful words within it. This book has catapulted me into reading many more books on the subject of Finance and I wish I would have done it much, much sooner. It's a short read and the entire thing is basically written in old-school proper english where at some times it feels like you're reading backwards – but it is worth it. You may have to re-read a couple sentences to comprehend the info or maybe even re-read the whole book but I urge you to do so. It does not matter your situation in life, you CAN live within your means, save money AND pay off debt. Nothing worth having is easy so read the book, make a plan and change your financial future.
The Only Book to Guarantee Wealth
I've read this book many times and I try to read it every year so as to refresh my memory and ensure my path. When I first read this, it was an amazing epiphany and I immediately took action. I was broke, about to lose my house, and looking for a way out of the hole I'd dug myself into. The rules within this book works well! I live in Hawaii now, in a nice suburban house, without worry of money. I am always surprised when I'm handed my next paycheck because I no longer count the days to each. Many thanks to the writer, the translator, the archeologist, and of course, the Babylonians!
DON'T BUY THIS NOW REVISED & UPDATED FOR THE 21ST CENTURY VERSION!!! PLEASE!!!
Just thought I should write this review as a warning to others. The Richest Man in Babylon is one of my favorite books. It's a great "back to the basics" look at finances. When I'm off with my finances, I dig out my copy of this book. I thought about doing a study group with some members of my church. So, I wanted to check this one out because the "Now Revised and Updated for the 21st Century" part of the title led me to believe that it would be a more modern version maybe removing the thee's and thou's... kinda like an NIV vs KJV of the Bible. I WAS MISTAKEN!!! It's both taller and wider than my current beat up version but the font they used is soooo small that I couldn't bring myself to make a detailed comparison- unlike the cover and back cover which are huge in comparison. They jammed 160 pages into 88 POORLY!!! I've never sent a book back before, but this one must go back!!! So get the book, but not this version!!!
Probably the most important book on finance
This is probably my favorite book on personal finance. It teaches the wisdom and discipline on how to make money, and to hold onto your money, save your hard earned money and consider profitable investments with wisdom. The principles contained within as old as time but they work and provided you actually READ and APPLY the knowledge in this book; you’ll build wealth. It’s also a very enjoyable read.
EASY read, Great advice for ALL
I am a terrible reader, Dyslexic, and ADD, I found this book an easy read, and I read it in 3 hours. It is basics in Finance that EVERY Person should read, especially preteens and an teens. The books ideas work well if applied, but in this world of keeping up with the Jones' it is even more difficult to follow. Taxes and healthcare Tax take so much of your savings that nothing is left. if you follow this book you can still get ahead. BUT it is WORK, there is no easy way, it tells you why you have less than others and how you can change that. Dave Ramsey uses the principles so you may want to check out his stuff too.
Tithe to yourself - BEST ADVICE EVER
I read this book years ago. As a result I listened to one piece of advice and now will have a comfortable retirement. Because I was a Christian I believed that I should tithe 10% of my income. I was tithing on my net income, not my gross. In my heart I knew that I should be tithing on my gross iincome. After reading this book, I decided that I should tithe on my gross, but in addition I should tithe (10%) to myself as well. That retirement is what got me through the crash in 2008 and has allowed me to purchase a small retirement property.
Not for the modern, scientific millennial or people in general
This book was written like a religious text, the bible for instance, not based on objective facts. It cites no modern day individuals who actually lived and earned large sums of wealth. For all the reader knows, the author could have scribbled down his opinions and combined them into a story supposedly based on ancient texts. An individual who likes to read text phrased like scripture would enjoy this book, however, I still could not recommend this book to them as the author makes no effort to establish his own credibility or that of the individuals in the book. For this reason, I can only assume that all of the information presented in this book is fictional and therefore untrue. I would instead recommend Rich Dad Poor Dad, The Millionaire Next Door, or The Total Money Makeover.
3 stars does not mean it is a bad book. Definitely worth a read
3 stars does not mean it is a bad book. Definitely worth a read, especially if you are interested in personal finance without the droll of a finance textbook. Three stars means that the beginning of the book was far stronger than the end, and after halfway the information started repeating a bit and the anecdotes were not as compelling as the beginning ones. However, this book was definitely unique and a quick read with lots of good information that still holds truth now.

Everyone Should Read This Book In School
This book should be a requirement in Middle School (I'm thinking 7th-8th grade); or, perhaps 9th grade studies. It's hands down a simply and straight-forward read, but has a wealth of wisdom to offer anyone willing to "listen" to the lessons. I really enjoyed the way it's more short-story based vs. a financial outline workbook. An excellent introduction to understanding how your hard earned money can WORK for you vs. against YOU. Order it, read it, prosper from it. (Thanks dad for recommending me to read this one, even if I already am in my 30s!)
The golden rules of gold.
I had to listen and read this book twice before understanding it, as it speaks in metaphors and old language I wasn't accustomed to, but none the less because it was recommended to me from my superior and speaks of gold, and wealth I made it a point to understand if not grasp some of its key wisdoms as there were 5 to be attained. In fact for me there was more then just 5 there where 7 golden rules:1) tho must know the value of hard work to appreciate gold 2) tho must know gold is a tool for service and as easy as it comes it can go just as fast, 3) tho must seek wise mentors who are experts in their fields 4) tho must take wise opportunities when it shows up 5) tho must not act in haste or foolishly invest in things one knows nothing about or pay dearly in ones hard earnings of gold 6) tho must crush ones ego so that one can learn and service 7) thor's hard work and service should be one is proud of doing and will not seem like work at all. Let those question if what you are doing is work or fun because you are doing both.
Extremely Repetitive but a Must Read for Young Adults
I am currently a college student graduating in May. I had heard of this book before but had never given it a chance. I finally read it and discovered two things: this book is very repetitive in the contents it teaches, and that it is a must read before starting real life and managing your money for real. I’ve seen a lot of comments saying this book is a waste of time because it’s the same information over and over again, and even if that may be true, that’s how you learn things, by reading and studying them over and over again. THIS IS NOT AN ENTERTAINING BOOK. But I guarantee if you read this book you won’t forget the 5 main principles it teaches because they will be burned in your brain after completion.
Great parables !
The book is written in old english, but I found it rather entertaining to read it that way, wasn't hard for me to read, and English is my second language. It starts off with captivating stories that are inspired by old babylonian parables, the enjoyment declines a bit at the end, however it's a very short and good read. It's funny how this book was written about 100 years ago, and the stories are about 6 thousand years old, yet you can relate to them as if nothing much has changed in the past 6 thousands years !
The Richest Man In You!
This is a book full of wisdom on personal finances/financial planning told as a series of "Babylonian parables". At the heart of these parables lay "the seven cures for a lean purse": " 1- Start thy purse to fattening 2- Control thy expenditures 3- Make the gold multiply 4- Guard thy treasures from loss 5- Make of thy dwelling a profitable investment 6- Insure a future income 7- Increase thy ability to earn " In addition to the above George presents several other topics to re-enforce the above laws, such as desire, luck, lending and debt to name a few. None of the concepts presented in the book are novel, in fact they are all common sense. That being said, they are presented in a very enlightening context that spurs self reflection. The concepts discussed focus on the importance of savings, and investing these savings in a responsible and safeguarding manner. The book also focuses on the importance of hard work, and advocates against debt and living beyond one's means. This is a very inspirational book that is both easy and entertaining to read for old and young alike. It is truly amazing that the basic laws of personal finance realized thousands of years ago still apply. Wikipedia has a detailed summary on this book for further reading: [...]. On a side note for readers, this edition is written in King James English. Below are some excerpts I found particularly insightful: 1- "One may not condemn a man for succeeding because he knows how.Neither may one with justice take away from a man what he has fairly earned, to give to men of less ability." 2- "Preceding accomplishment must be desire. Thy desires must be strong and definite." 3- "...to attract good luck to oneself, it is necessary to take advantage of opportunities." 4- "Better a little caution than a great regret." 5- "Where the determination is, the way can be found."
Good read + simple and easy investment ideas
I really enjoyed this book and the stories in it. If you are looking for simple saving and investing concepts that are portrayed through great stories in the times of Babylon then you'll really enjoy this book. If you want to get someone thinking about investing and ease them into it this would also be a good book to start with.
Worst book ever - Unreal there's so many good reviews!
This book is absurd. Really the worst self-help, personal finance book I've ever read/listened to. I don't write reviews good or bad, and I read about 50 books a year and who knows how much stuff I buy on Amazon. But this book... this book made me stop, hop on the review section and put forth to the world just how AWFUL this book is. Three brutal truths about this book. 1. All of the advice can be summed up in a paragraph. Save 10% of your money. Let that money grow and compound. Be careful with your money. Live within your means. Try to find ways to get new skills and earn a little more. There, I've saved you from this awful book as this is all of it's content boiled down. This is ALL THIS BOOK HAS TO SAY. To all the other 4-5 star reviewers, you really didn't know you need to save? Invest a little on the side? This was a revelation to you? 2. The advice is AWFUL. Fine, maybe saving a little is your side play, but look, you're never going to REALLY make it saving 10% of your meager salary. This is a looser strategy if you want to get rich at some point in your lifetime besides THE END OF YOUR LIFE. Sure, maybe you'll have enough to retire on and clip some coupons in retirement. Is that what you're after? Coupon clipping? 10% of my salary? Cutting things out like my daily cup of coffee and shopping the sale at the grocery story is for small minds. You are NEVER going to get rich like that. There is NOTHING in this book that's expansive, inspiring, or in any way going to lead you to real wealth in the short term. 3. The audio version of this book is absolutely brutal. I don't know if the narrator is a machine, or what is going on, but it's almost impossible to listen to. The book is written in this old english style of "had doth this" which is absurd anyway. But the narrator chops this up in such an unbelievable monotone performance that it's unbearable. I had to FORCE myself to listen to it just in case there was some gem in the book for which, there was not. If you want to build wealth sooner, go out and start with Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" and Grant Cardone's "Millionaire Booklet". These books have ideas about what you need to do, need to be thinking about NOW to build wealth. Sure, fine, put your 10% away, but if you want real wealth go and get these books as a place to start.
Great read, would recommend
I would definitely recommend this book. I love the fact that it was created in a story format. I feel like that made it even more enjoyable. The book is great for teaching you how to build generational wealth and maintain it and also how to prepare for the unexpected. Some things are pretty obvious but it’s still nice to have it laid out in definitive principles to live by. I gathered multiple tips that I’m going to implement into the upcoming year and monitor to see if I see financial growth.
Great short read
This book has many great gems of wisdom on how to make and handle wealth. One of the gems blew my mind. Get it and read it and hopefully it does the same for you. I recommend this book.
"Gold is reserved for those who know its laws and abide by them."
The Richest Man in Babylon is an older book written by George Clason around 1926. To give you a real idea of the age of the book, its author served in the Spanish-American War (that was in 1898 for those of you wondering). The book is not written as one constant story; instead it is a collection of parables the author wrote over a period of time, all assembled into one collection. Each parable has a theme to it, such as seven cures for a lean purse and the five laws of gold. The writing style is unique. Most of the story is told through character dialogue, in a language that I can only describe as Shakespeare without the rhyme. You will see the words "thou" and "thy" frequently throughout the book. It took me a few pages to get used to the style, but after that I hardly noticed it. What I like most about this book is the length. My copy is only 155 pages, but those pages cover most of the major personal finance lessons with easy to understand stories that still manage to get the message across. The Seven Cures for a Lean Purse is the first lesson. The 7 steps to accumulating money (in my own words): 1. Pay yourself first 2. Spend less than you make 3. Take advantage of compound interest 4. Exercise risk management and don't lose money 5. Own your own home 6. Create passive income so eventually you can stop working 7. Improve your ability to earn more money The rest of book continues to build on these 7 ideas, as well as add a few new ones. Recommendation: If you are looking for a short but great lesson on personal finance this is the book to go too. The lessons in this book are timeless, and since it's such a quick read it's definitely worth a look. If you're just getting started on learning the basics of personal finance this is a great place to start.
Timeless wealth strategies
Many of my peers believe that they have to hit a windfall in order to become "rich". They don't understand how to get there in a methodical way since we live in a world that glamorizes lottery winners and serves up get-rich-quick schemes in the media. Those are the exact people I recommend this book to. The Richest Man in Babylon introduces the fundamentals of accumulating wealth to the masses. This book can really help shape the mindset of people looking to reach utopia one day. Aside from an awful lot of luck, getting rich starts with simply thinking a certain way. That said, where this book is lacking is in the tactics, which is fine. Building wealth is about creating and executing offensive and defensive strategies and not about 'just tell me what to do to get rich' formulas. Although the strategies here are timeless, those looking for a road map may be frustrated. To those folks, I must add the following: There is no step-by-step recipe that works for everyone. Learn these lessons and be your own pathfinder. If are are diligent, you will get there.
Everyone should have to read this book before they graduate
This is perhaps one of the greatest books written. If every person were required to read this before graduation the average American family would be far better off financially speaking. I would encourage everyone curious about the book to give it a quick read. It’s not that long.
Changed my life!!!
After reading this book money started raining down on me like I was a stripper in da club! I never had so many girls tryna get after me before. If your down on your luck and can't figure out why the girls ain't been looking your way then you gotta read this book on how to get that bread. This Babylonian Pimp be going straight from rags to riches dog and you can too!
Personal Finance
For people who have no money or even in debt to people who have lots, this short books gives wisdom . Does any school teach it as a text book? From elementary till adulthood, each reading will reveal new insights
Get it, preferably when you're young
This book is a boon. Short, easy read. Highly recommended. People shouldn't be living in debt especially those that have decent incomes. This book tells you how to manage your money.
The Proven Roadmap to Wealth
Originally I read this book about 15 years ago. This wisdom is common sense yet for some reason few people have the discipline to follow it. It's simple to be thin and healthy, for example, but most people don't have the discipline to diet and exercise. It's the same with wealth. Flash forward to today and I have gone from broke to what many would consider wealthy. And as I go back to this book and re-examine it, I can see that I followed most (if not all) of the principles in this book. They WORK!! It won't happen overnight but if you follow the wisdom in this book you will become wealthy. Period. The only question is when. So how serious are you about getting wealthy? Do you have the discipline to follow the simple "laws of wealth"? If so, when would NOW be a good time to get started?
Great investment I've made.
Not only the product has been shipped fast but it has also brought light to my financial knowledge. I'm surprise that the same principles in business and in life we used nowadays has been used to perfection thousands of years ago. Great book I recommend to fellow youngsters in the 20s.
Read this book!
This book written in a parable form. It is very entertaining and reads like a novel but the wisdom is in plain sight for you to pick up. Everyone in your household including kids should read it.
Paramount in changing my life (read on)
First off, this was probably the 20th book about (finance, getting rich, making $, etc) I read. For my adult life I struggled with $, debt, bills, etc. While the info contained within this book certainly is no secret, the story spoke to me in a way that nothing else had. Maybe it was the context, language, or the historical time tested theory, I'm not sure but whatever it was, it resonated. I started reading this book a few years ago in a hotel room on Christmas eve. Something about the stories, lessons, and history really spoke to me. I made a commitment and the following year saw me get out of the hamster wheel of debt that I'd been running in since I was 18.... And establish a respectable savings. Some won't appreciate the stories, some may dismiss the lessons as "common sense" (despite the fact that they aren't applying them and are broke.) Other stories, lessons, formats, may speak better to you.... That's fine. But for me, This book along with the millionaire mind are head and shoulders the two books that have made the biggest impact on me.
The the most important book you can ever read
This book is so relevant to today's financial needs and worries even though it comes from Parables written 6000 years ago it applies to 20 20. I give it as a gift to anybody that is in their twenties and tell them if you can apply this to your life today you will retire a millionaire by the time you're 45 does it work we'll see.
Required reading!
Fantastic classic and required reading for anyone interested in building wealth or interested in a good story.
Such a joy!
So grateful to be re-reading this and shaking my head on agreement knowing we do now have the Life Insurance he mentions and if set up properly it can act as the savings account too!
Timeless classic.
I believe the true definition of "timeless classic" means something is just as meaningful and relevant today as it was when it was first created. Such is the case with George Clason's, THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON. Originally published in 1926, this book is not only still relevant today, but over the past eighty or so years has spawned many a financial success book. In fact, this is like an early version of Robert Kyosaki's decade old, Rich Dad Poor Dad. It's even quite possible that this very book may well have been the financial training Kyosaki's rich dad used to create his wealth and became the financial knowledge he passed on. The timing is certainly about right. The lessons are more than similar. This book is written in the form of a parable as told in ancient Babylon. Clason uses what he thought to have been the proper language of the time, similar to the King James English derived from the translation of Textus Receptus. Herein lies my only knock on this great book. Unless you don't mind wading through all of the "thee", "thou" and "hath nots", the book does become tedious at times. Nevertheless, it is well worth the effort. There are precious pearls of financial wisdom to be gleaned from these pages. If you want the basic rules of creating wealth that has been proven for millennia, there is no better place to start than with this timeless classic.
Great Book
This is an easy read and a simple method that everyone should learn. I highly recommend it has helped me greatly.
Everything you'll ever need to know about money?
I have read and re-read Clasons book, and I honestly believe that his simple, thought provoking and powerful story, contains all the truths one has to learn about when it comes to the subject of money. Staged in ancient Babylon the message of this story is as applicable today as it was when it was written (or even unearthed as the author eludes to in the final pages). This doesn't mean I haven't read other books about financial management, but The Richest Man in Babylon has a pull to it, a center of gravity of sorts, that has drawn me back to its pages over and over again. Even if you think you handle the subject of money well, you will benefit from reading this book.

I really like this books its one of my favorites from Econ class back in high school. I'm often finding myself seeing its simple messages very timeless and common sense even in today's highly complex and crazy world. I particularly enjoy how the author wove things into a fun and interesting story to teach you common sense ways through hard lessons to learn basic financial skills. Highly recommend this book to high school econ students and everyone else who wants a fast way to learn basic financial stewardship lessons and how to wisely invest your money.
FULL OF A-HA! MOMENTS...A classic in every sense.
The Richest Man in Babylon is a classic people should have in the libraries, especially for those interested in financial wisdom. It’s just a really good and indispensable book. I wish I had found this when I was in college, or even earlier, in high school. The lessons/stories are so accessible, like fables. Well-written.
The Best book on Basic Finance Principles on the Market.
This is the best book introducing the "laws of wealth" PERIOD. If one can follow the laws of wealth, the consequences of these laws will follow, just like throwing up a ball against gravity. The trick is in being able to follow these laws throughout the storms of life. There are better books that teach the "hows" of following these laws, but as a foundation for understanding what these laws are, there is no book of which I am aware better than this one. It has been around far longer than any of the other finance books, has simple truths, is very solid and still going strong. If I could only chose one book on finance and wealth to recommend, this would be it.
A true guide to success
Great roadmap to true success. A book for everyone of reading age to guide them to prosperity and self respect.
A wonderful introduction to finance and success
I will admit, the language of this book reads like some sort of play or ancient text at times. At first, this was not digestable, however, a short chapter or two later (especially with how much it repeats stuff [in a good way!]) got me hooked. The book is full of many interesting parables of merchants, spearmakers, slaves, and many relatable characters who wish for nothing more than success and security. Pick up this invaluable quick read!
Never too late to learn
The wisdom of this book touched my life many years ago and it was wonderful to read it again, to learn more.
Getting your finances in order
Great information for creating order in your finances, meeting your needs, knowing what you really have available to spend on wants, and building your wealth. Clason really focuses on common sense logic and budgeting principles that work. Done in Babylonian style parables, the story line is relatable and the financial ways of thinking are easy to apply in your life.
Product as advertised.
This book purchased for a gift was received on time and was just as advertised. A good read too.
A gamechanging story
This book, while some of the language is olden and somewhat difficult to understand at times, has some profound stories that really plucked a string for me. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for not only a great story, but someone who is looking to endurance their own life in the real world.
Necessary
I'm eager to put these values to work. Please listen/read this book, it is invaluable for keeping coins in your purse. Also love the line "A fine ass upon which to ride"
Important principles
I have bought copies for all my children to read and ponder the simple wisdom. It has really made a difference in there lives.
Easy Read but Dated Diction, Intro to Financial Literacy
This has become my favorite book of all time. Clason composed a master piece. This book is my first recommendation for anyone who want's an easy intro into financial literacy. This is one of those books that you wish you had read years ago when you first started working. Although it's diction is a bit dated, it's still fairly easy to read and a wealth of information. My most loved book and recommends to EVERYONE.
Recommended by Bill Gates--yes, THAT BILL GATES
I bought it to improve my decision-making. This book is a help. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to handle her or his money better. Ann Schlabach
Wonderful!!! A classic.
Wonderful book, love it. Read it twice from the literary, this copy a gift to my brother, who needs some financial help. Highly Recommend it!
Entertaining and Enlightening
If you're looking to improve your financial situation, and learn some simple but extremely logical ways to do it, this is the book to read! It's incredibly interesting as the principles are taught in the form of a parable, and it's entertaining and enlightening. Well done! I would highly recommend.
Phenomenal read on finances
I loveee the story telling behind this book. the principles behind this read is outstanding. Every aspect of this book is incredibly relatable to the employees of today in America. Great read I would highly recommend
THE BOOK THAT CHANGED MY LIFE!!!!
As simplistic as the Laws from this book are; they are exactly what we all need to implement in our lives. If we all followed the stories in this book the world would claim to be the Richest ever. Surprisingly the financial issues we face today are exactly the same issues discussed in this book from 600 BC to present things have not changed much. I've read numerous books but this book through its parables illustrates where we wrong and provide detail guidelines on how to change. Don't just read this book live this book. Sacrifice a year to these laws and see how your life DRAMATICALLY improves. I know mine has.
Deep & Insightful Book!
This book is pretty deep and will definitely open your eyes about finances. I love that is has a historical approach but still had consistent principles that holds true in regard to finances today. I like that the book is somewhat pocket size and the font is rather bold and easy to read.
A Must Read!
After reading all the great reviews on Amazon about this book, I went to check it out at the library - not expecting it to be one of my favorite books. I don't generally buy books unless I expect to read it more two or three times. This book certainly met that criteria, so I purchased a copy for myself. I love how this book contains timeless parables - very refreshing to read (-vs- just boring data). Although I've read similar concepts before, I can honestly say that this book was the catalyst for me to finally start taking some action.
Financial Bible
Everyone needs to read this book. The Bible teaches us to be good. The Richest Man In Babylon teaches us to be wealthy.
a great read
What a great read. As i take on this journey of self improvement, this is one of the best books I’ve come across. Well worth it
practical, applicable....
fun read, applicable, practical. wish i had learned these money truths when i was young...... most i've learned along the way, but would have been miles ahead of where i am now.
) highly recommended.
timeless classic advice about finance for all! This book should be a must read for high-school/college graduates. I wish I could have read this book during my college years. However, my kids will be "forced" to read this book before they graduate their high school :) highly recommended.
Get educated while being entertained
This book lays out many financial principles in an interesting easy to follow story. I would strongly recommend this book for any child 10+ and any adult looking for some financial education and fun at same time.
Amazing Book!
A must read! This definitely changed my way of thinking
Finally got it!
I finally got the principles! I have heard these principles for many years. But never been able to apply them. The simple way it is presented here and with ample examples, parables, down to earth, helped me understand how to take action, and apply the principles stated in this book. The old english style is a little bit annoying, but I was so immersed in the book that I have been able to read it very quickly. I appreciate also how the principles are reminded at the end of every chapter and are written in italic or bold and frame. So it's easy to come back to the principles, retrieve them and apply them. Great book! Like stated in the beginning. Every student and young person should read it! What a wonderful tool to begin life. The earlier one can apply the principles the better and...the richer!
Classic book with timeless advice
This is a timless classic book with timeless financial advice. Anyone who doesn't like it, doens't understand the priniciples involved. This book is for Champions only.
A nice change of pace from typical financial books
This book was an entertaining and interesting read. The story-telling style makes its point without beating you over the head with dry and boring mantras that today's financial planners and financial network clowns love to repeat. Savvy financial types won't be shocked by anything found in this book; however, there are some useful ideas for most anyone. The tales are easy enough to remember that they should be helpful for explaining rather complex situations to clients and children as well. Frankly, this book ought to be required reading for all high-schoolers.
Should be required reading for all teen-agers!
If I could only give my child one book to guide them financially in their life, this would be the book.( In fact we gave our daughter this book when she was in middle school. She is now 19, in her second year of College, Is a manager at PetSmart, and drives a Mercedes, which she paid for herself.)
Success in finance
An inspiring classic, and yet another testament to the fact that human follies and sound advice are timeless. Whether you're a slave in Babylon, or a modern banker, the principles are all the same: pay yourself first, save at least one tenth of your income, look for opportunity, work hard, and be wise in your investments. Passed on for centuries, it is surprising how few people use these maxims, and yet the successful stories are almost always based on them. For the hundred pages that it is, "The Richest Man in Babylon" may well be the most complete financial guide to date.
An Absolute Must Read Book!!!
I was impressed with this book that I practically read it in one sitting. This book should have been made a recommended reading in critical thinking. I would highly recommend this book to everybody, young and old alike. There are lessons to be learned from this book that people should apply in real life. I wished I had read this book when I was much younger.
Great read
Wow, I agree with other reviewers that said this book changed their life. It’s a great read and I recommend it to everyone! The book starts out slow but after the 2nd or 3rd chapter, I couldn’t put it down. It’s a quick book, and good for any age
A Financial Advisor In Text Form
I've read finance planning books and articles before but none break it down to the simplest form, enough for the average Joe on minimum wage to not just understand but remember. I recommend this to anyone living from paycheck to nearly the next paycheck.
Enlightening and inspiring.
This book is more than enough to lead any man or woman to a life of riches and a heavy purse. It explains all you need to make the most of what you have. I'd recommend this key to success to anyone. So that they can become the richest man in Babylon.
Principles of saving money and creating wealth.
This is a great book for folks looking for ideas to save money and create wealth. Follow these principles and you shall.
Not what you think it is.
"Part of what I earn is mine." This book was a book I was required to read for a personal finance class. I ended up enjoying this book. I definitely love the twist and how it changes your perspective of saving money. 10 out of 10 reccomend.
Simply the best!
What more can be said? This is a truly timeless classic. When I have followed this book's sound advice, I have always come out ahead. Think about it, no matter how much income you earn, you can always be broke, or wealthy in your own right. If you bring in 30 grand a year, and you spend 25 grand, you're doing good. If you make 300 grand a year, and you spend 325 grand, you are broke at a higher level. Clason's book reveals how to build wealth with money you already have coming in, that's it! Follow this advice from ancient ones crying from the dust of Babylon, and you really can be prosperous. Wisdom and patience is all it takes, not fancy advice for the current trend. Read it, study it, live it!

This is one of my all-time favorite books. The principle of paying yourself first so you can invest has completely changed my financial profile. It sounds so simple but it was actually hard for me to get started. I'm glad I changed my financial habits after reading this book
Everyone should read this book!
Read it, and give it as a gift
This short book (ebook for me) is using some stories about Babylon (100% made up most likely) to make some serious points about how to deal with money. As I already follow the book's ideas, there was nothing new to me, but I wanted to offer a copy of it, therefore I bought it first to read and see if it was as good as others said. It is. So: - if you don't understand money / don't know much about it, read it. - if you have some debts, read it - if you have no savings, read it. You will be better for it, and whatever price the kindle version is, it's cheap and it will pay for itself if you pay attention to the common sense in it.
Very Good Read
The art of saving for a rainy day and not feeling guilty for saying no just because you have money
I've read this book a few times
It's all about application. Every time I read this book, I find myself taking a little more action.
Excellent book
A must read for anyone who does not understand what to do with their money. Also a great lesson in hard work.
I wish I had read this many years ago!
A must have for those who haven't a clue how to save money...like me, and yes, it's working, I am saving now!
Simple but deep financial wisdom
The lessons of Richest Man in Babylon can be summed up in just a few sentences, and yet it would take a lifetime to live them out. In this short book author, George Clason, gives timeless advice that crosses all cultures and boundaries. The lessons are general enough that they can be played out in a number of different ways no matter what stage of life you are in. The points he stresses really come out in the short stories he gives. Sure he could have put them all on one page, but where would the funning that be. By setting them in an ancient narrative it gives an added dimension to the financial wisdom, and one that wouldn't be caught it were simply a bullet point list. You would probably read the list, agree with it, saying to yourself, “That’s nice”, then go about your day unchanged. The key to any set of financial planning is to use the knowledge and set the plan in motion. No matter how much money you make, money isn't going to simply accumulate in your account unless you purposefully and intentionally set it aside. Money had a way of disappearing, as you well know. So after you read the book, improvise a plan of action, then set it in motion. Over time, you’ll have to re-adjust your plan, and you’ll get better at it over time thought ups and downs. And pretty soon you’ll be like the Richest Man in Babylon… helping others achieve success.
Bucket List Material, A+
George Clarson hits the target in this classic about managing money and your life. If you follow other classics from Napolian Hill to Og Mandino you will find they all hold this book in high esteem. It reads like an alagorical story which captivates the audience desipite the historical setting in ancient Babylon. For the modern reader the prose is very commanding and I am sure the typical Game of Thrones viewer could appreciate the setting and language. I have read this masterpiece multiple time and have given it as a gift to several friends and family. Definite must read bucket list for all.
Awesome—Incredible Value
Reads like a child’s bedtime story and yet holds the profound truth of how to build wealth over time. Too many people do not understand these simple concepts. At this price this little volume is an incredible value.
Great!
Great book with great examples of how to create wealth for multiple generations. Extremely effective use of language and stories, a must read book!
A must have.

This is a good book illustrating the principle of saving and investing using stories from Babylon. It's beneficial for understanding the basics of saving and investing. Highly recommend to anyone who are interested in investing for the long term.
Mr Clason provides a parable to teach you how to get a full "purse"
Mr Clason has provided a few tips or rather guidelines that will teach you to lifestyle attitude and disciplines that will facilitate you developing savings and keeping you out of financial misery. I highly recommend reading. It is written in a parable format so it won't seem like a textbook. Its is a short book and easy to read but is full of great advise.
Everyone should read this
Whether you are young or old, poor, man or woman, poor or well off, you should read this book. This book can be considered a fountain of wisdom that, despite being 8000 years old, can be used by anyone to increase their wealth and savings. I wish I had had this book 10 years ago and am very glad I'm still young enough to make full use of it
Excellent!
I've read the Richest Man in Babylon many times. Yet every time I glean new insight from its pages. The narration was fair, though far from perfect. Highly recommended.
Great book
Love this book I bought for a gift, Easy read, great tips on money, and saving, changes how you think about saving and how money can work for you.
Deep truths yet easy to understand
Excellent read. I loved the summary statements in italics at the end of each chapter. The reinforcing stories and arguements beautifully reinforced the main points. I must warn you that it starts off a little confusing. Just when you begin to wonder 'where's this going?', wham! The true genius of the narrative hits you.
Great book
This is a great book. Simple concepts to understand. I wish i would have read this in my 20s
Great book, fast read, and can change your life
Such a great book to get you to look at money differently. Definitely a top 10 book to have and refer too.
Great book
I listened to the audio book years ago. A great book about finance. What I love about this book is that it is setting a story yet discusses how to handle money and deal with people. Love it
Uncle Knows Best
My uncle turned me on to this book years ago and I purchased several and given away to young people. However, this book is germain to anyone of any age.
A must-read, so essential!
This book is a short classic in personal finance and a must-read for all ages but especially adolescents in wealth-accumulation. The book writes in very-simple to understand parables on how the wealthiest Babylonians acquired their riches. The principles are so pertinent to modern life, a true test of time. Honestly, this read has changed my life and made me revise strategies in order to actively pursue wealth through multiple streams. Please do not pass up this book--It can be a life-saver.
Best book to wealth and happiness
This book contains the timeless keys to success especially in these times of growing scarcity and poverty - read this book and prosperity will be yours.
Jorge Harrington
I have read this book twice in my life. Will be reading again. When I first read it, I was reading just the first chapter before bed. But found myself sucked in to what I was being taught, that I was so tired for work the next day. I finished it all in one sitting. I had to read in. I have my copies away to other friends. Now I finally have it again. Jorge Harrington
Simple yet profound teaching
Such a simple yet profound teaching told in easily relatable stories. This is a great read, I highly recommend it.
Great Lesson
I wish I had read this book when I was a young man. I’ve gone through a small fortune learning these lessons the hard way. I’m going to give copies of this book to my grandchildren.
Must Know Information
This is a great book! I learned so much from this little book and the information in this book should be taught in elementary school. Must know information for creating wealth!
Great book on financial literacy
On your journey to financial prosperity, which includes debt freedom, this book will lay the foundations. You just need to keep practicing and you'll see the results!
Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon
Kinda like an Old School Version of Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich dad Poor Dad, tho certain beliefs no longer apply in the 21st century - building a physical wall is no longer a solid protective measure and saving no longer provides sufficient gain. At the end of day Entrepreneurs who actually move humanity forward will be blessed with mad cash and freedom regardless of time it seems. Finished it in an afternoon and enjoyed it :)
Must read!
An excellent read for startup entrepreneurs or anyone struggling with managing cashflow and coming up with innovative ways to increase business
good advice never goes out of style
This is the best "finance" book I've ever read. It is a classic and the lessons never go out of style. Very enjoyable and helpful!
Understanding controlling Finances
This book is wonderful about helping one understand and control finances. The stories help understand rather then just give words. I read this book many years ago, and all tho enjoyed it, I don't think I was in the right time of my life to truly understand. Now, years later, It make totals sense and I fully enjoyed the stories and the messages.
Timeless classic for all ages & education levels
Everyone should read this book at least once. The information contained is delivered in a story format. The substance of the material is timeless, concise, and understandable. This is the kind of thing our children should be learning in schools.
Very good.
Would buy again for gifting.
Great lessons about money
This is the sort of book that should be assigned in high school. While I enjoyed the Catcher in the Rye, this has far more practical use in life.
Useful information!
This book was recommend to be a great read by Tiffany Aliche aka the Budgetnista! (She's awesome!!). This book gave me an insight on the steps to be taken in order achieve success and becoming wealthy. It's a great read,it might not be for everyone but the logic & understanding behind every story is the lesson to be taken out of it.
The greatest book on personal finance that has ever written.
The greatest book on personal finance that has ever written.
Brilliant
This is a great book for anyone from 15 to 50. Such a simple concept that so few adhere to, yet can literally change your life. Short, sweet, and easy to read.
Ten percent of all you earn is yours to keep.
I didn't read this book until my 30's. What I learned from this book remains valuable 30 years later.
Perfect Grad gifts!!
I first read this about 30 years ago (old gold hardback book). Then I've had each of my kids read it. It really helped them ALOT!! My eldest wanted me to send her my old copy. I told her that I would buy and send HER own book to her. She wanted to start reading it to her preteen!
The best place to start.
If you are looking to get your finances up to par, then this is the first step. Saving money and learning how to control debt are hot topics these days but where do you start? Right here, this book is a simple easy read and you will be amazed by the simplistic approach and how using the parable based teachings will get you on the right path.
Insighful,Educational & Encouraging
I believe this book is very insightful and when read with the intention to learn the laws of creating wealth it will definitely give you poweful wisdom. If truly applied to your daily life and management of money.
Excellent lessons in personal finance
I didn't expect to learn so much from a story but wow... it's everything a person needs to rise financially. Highly recommended!
The Richest Man In Babylon
One of the best books on the execution to wealth I have ever read. You must get this book. It's not a fast way to get rich but a methodical systematic way that has been used since the times of Babylon. It will work. Just read it for yourself and add it to your library for a reference. It's a staple. Kay
Sound Financial Advice
This book is very straight forward with practical easy to do steps that will lead anyone to prosperity. I am so glad someone recommended it to me. It is full of sound principals that we all know is true but for whatever reason don't follow these principals like we should. You will not regret buying and reading this book. I have read it two times already and will definitely read it again and again.
Valuable lessons for success.
This should be required reading in all high schools. It teaches valuable lessons that will help them succeed.
Good read on increasing your understanding of financial management.
This is a good book for those who don't have much experience handling money. Really, anyone could benefit from reading this. One point that stood out for me was the rule of saving 10% on anything you earn, no matter how large or small that amount may be. This 10% is your own personal "treasure" that should be used for "income producing" purchases. The 10% does NOT go towards buying a new sports car or the latest fashion collection. Instead, the personal treasure should go towards buying those new dual-pane windows for your house before summer time or taking a community college course on anything that would help you to personally and professionally grow.
Same concepts, different explanation
This books sets forth the same principles and ideas for saving money and getting ahead financially as a lot of books out there, but it does it in a different setting, using different words to get to concepts across. For instance, I’ve heard and read “Pay yourself first”, but it was never explained in a way that I could comprehend. This book states the same concept as “A part of all I earn is mine to keep” which makes so much more sense to me.
Classic for the Modern Times
Have a copy, bought one for my Goddaughter on her 18th birthday so she can learn the lessons of money and set herself up for financial success.

I brought these books because Tiffany Aliche is an Awesome Young Lady who teaches about restoring YOUR CREDIT AND YOUR CREDIT SCORE. I ordered her books for reference purposes as I follow her instructions online. A GREAT investment.
Classic advice
This has long been a favorite gift as part of a graduation present. Great financial advice does not have to be complicated, as this book demonstrates, and has demonstrated for decades.
Great graduation gift!
Excellent stories that correlate well with important themes that can guide one to financial freedom. Would be especially useful right out of high school or after college. Blue print to wealth-building.
Great story and lesson
A simple story with a big lesson. One that many of us fail to understand and sadly end broke and arrogant to the end.
Best Book I’ve Read So Far
This is the best book I’ve read so far about building wealth and creating financial freedom. The principles provided are simple and easy to follow.
Should be required reading!
This would have been much more useful than most of the ridiculous books I was forced to read in high school and college. When my children get older, I plan to have them read this and do my best to teach them the truths found inside. It's an easy read and much more entertaining than non-fiction.
One of my favorite books ever
Great story with super easy to adopt suggestions. One of my favorite books to date! Right up there with Rich Dad Poor Dad for me
Would Recommend
Great read and a good starting point to financial literacy!
Buy this book and READ it!
I buy 5-10 copies of this book each year and give them away. I try to read this book once every year or two myself. It is the single best book I've read to help me re-focus on my long term savings goals.
The Richest Man in Babylon
I have read many money books but this one is my all-time favorite. It is inexpensive, easy to read, and if I had more closely followed its counsel better over the last 25 years I would have been rich! In my last job I was the commander of an Air Force ROTC Detachment and cadets who were getting ready to enter active duty would often ask me for financial advice. I would always loan or give them a copy of this book.
Knowledge
Great book and price
Classic! Perfect gift for young people
Classic! Read this for the 1st time in 2001 and its basic teachings have helped me in creating a solid saving strategy and awareness over the years. The principles in this book allowed me to I live a better lifestyle as a bartender than my friends who had full time jobs.
Fantastic viewpoints of the basics in managing personal finances
Incredible to think that these still apply today after many many years...this is the second time I've read it (first time was about 15 years ago) and I plan to read it again in the future...
THE RICHEST PEOPLE, IT ISN'T ABOUT ALL ABOUT MONEY
This is a book should be read by everyone despite your educational, finanical, or age group. This book will expand your thought process.
Life lessons use ur money as a tool to make money
Loved the way the book was told as if it was a old story i need to buy this again tbh i would love a updated version thats relates to the world now but from the african american prespective so i can get this into the streets
Great book to start your self-improvement journey
I liked this book. It shows how the main general technique and mindset works today and thousands of years ago. The single problem I had difficulties with was reading some of the old style English words, as I'm not a native English speaker, but you can understand it well and learn some old expressions too.
I am now gifting this great book to younger family members to help the along ...
I have read and read this book and each time I find a new idea for realizing my dream of financial independence in retirement. I am now gifting this great book to younger family members to help the along their way with financial planning and retirement strategies.
Great financial and life advice
The concepts taught in this book can easily apply to the modern day. This book is easy to read and full of life changing advice.
A book that should be required for a HS diploma
This is one of the best books in regards to finding a way to teach you about one of the most important things in life - how to manage your finances. This should be required reading for all high school students at some point. Maybe if that were done, our economy wouldnt be in the toilet.
Every kid should read this every year to adulthood and beyond.
This is a great read and buying copies for everyone I know for gifts.
Christmas Gifts
Books were for my teen, post teen, and pre teen grandchildren for Christmas. They all said they appreciated the book and my thoughtfulness!
Great wisdom re
Well written book. Great wisdom re. Money. Obviously the author has his own world view which I personally do not agree with but the truths regarding the handling of money are worth their weight in gold and should be taught to our young people and some older people today. Reads like a good story.
Timeless Financial Advice
This book illustrates how to see your education and experience as your investment and teaches you how to keep the dividends
Great principles in an entertaining way
Written in something like biblical prose, this book does a good job of entertaining, getting to the point, and giving some great guidelines. A must read for anyone. I feel like this should be taught in high school.
Finn e tips with stories
Story after story it is explained how one can achieve wealth. Truly informative and will apply. No gimmicks straight talk.
More relevant than ever...
A classic--ordered several copies for young people that I know. The system does not educate on the basics and our young people are becoming enslaved. Quick read that will change lives.
Timeless book on how to succeed with money
This is a great little book with timeless principles for how to handle money. It is easy to follow, and not specific to any culture. Everyone should read this book at least once.
Start'em Young with Five Star Advice
A classic... for good reason. Parents: read this to your pre-teen child. Then revisit the lessons in their late-teen years. Finally, gift them their own copy in their early twenties. You will have laid a foundation for your child's eventual financial freedom. While often imitated over the years, no one's improved on the basic message. Five Stars.
What a awesome book
One of the best books I read, even if the English is a bit out of date. Still teaches great lessons
Best book on money management and wealth building
I have read the book before making the purchase and therefore knew the true value it possessed. The book is far more valuable than the monetary price that I paid for. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to take control of their personal finances. Furthermore, it should be a required reading for high school and college students because, it presents sound fundamental and timeless principles on money management and wealth creation. The book is easy and fun to read because of the format that follows a story line, and is especially appropriate and timely for the "interesting" times that we live in.
Great life lessons
Reading this book with my team everyone has great comments and understanding of this book teaches us a lot
Great Food for thought
This short novel awakens your mind with profound meaning and thinking in business and daily life. This book is worth it's time reading.
Read It Now
It's hard to say something that hasn't been said over and over about this classic: buy it, read it, digest it, and give it away to people you care about.
fun and meaningful
It's a simple advice he gives, but it's done in an entertaining and convincing way. There are people who say becoming rich isn't about how much you know, but how well you do just a few things. His advice certaintly can't go wrong. It's not getting rich quick, but it is getting rich.
Must read
First book you should read as you decide to get in the right investing mindset.
