The Old Farmer's Almanac 2020, Trade Edition

I clicked on Paperback edition, but what they really meant was "trade edition" it's a little more expensive, fancier, slightly bigger pages, and does not have the hole in the corner. It did not show that this was the trade edition when I bought it, but when I received it and clicked backwards, it says trade edition. I like the regular, old style better, and Amazon should not trick people into buying this style. Next year, I'll buy it in the store where I can see what I'm getting.

THE OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC -- 2020 This book has been around since 1792. I love how the book hasn't changed much and has kept its charm. My parents used to get the ALMANAC and I remember being a young kid and looking through it. This dandy little helper has everything you want to know, need to know, and didn't know you wanted to know. It's chock full of knowledge, useful facts, interesting data, and so much more. Some of the features in this issue are: *amusement *astrology *astronomy *calendar *folklore *food *gardening *home remedies *nature *pets *sports *weather There are 288 pages packed full of information. The pages are high quality paper, not 'newspaper' type which is a nice feature. There are plenty of colorful pictures. There are some ads sprinkled throughout but these don't take away from the almanac at all. Weather-wise, all the 2020 tropical storm names are charted. There is a nifty wind chill chart. There's a listing of flowers that attract butterflies. And on and on and on.... I remember using the almanac for finding information for a school report way back in the day. This is a great book to have around not only for finding out things you want to know, but seeing if weather forecasts are correct and maybe finding a new cookie to make and enjoy. Every home should have one of these almanacs!

I haven't seen the insides of one of these for years, but I decided that I wanted one this year. Looking at the price, I wondered why it was so expensive now, as compared to the past. When it arrived, I knew. It's at least twice as thick as it used to be, and there's color-stuff in there! This is not "your father's Oldsmobile", folks. It's in there, tho. Included in all the advertisements and "stuff", all the stuff that I remember is there, and then some!! Planting, phases of the moon, every little tidbit of everything I love. It's not like I remember, but it's definitely a keeper, and it's going to be fun reading. When I was a little girl, I'd buy a World Almanac every year, and pore over it until the next one came out. This reminds me of doing that. Taking off one star because there are lots of ads.

Fresh from the postman's hands comes this OLD FARMER'S 2020 ALMANAC, the one with the light yellow cover that has been going strong since 1792 (and in my house for a good portion of that). It still has a discussion of edible florals, and planting charts for those who wish to "plant by the moon"; also a metric converter and a chart for those who wish to figure out their in-laws -- who are the most "removed" genealogically and so on. The region-by-region weather prognostications are useful -- not always all that accurate, but reasonably so. Certainly the regions, based as they are on mountain ranges and bodies of water, make more sense than mere political distinctions, square states and so on. While this book evolves very slowly over the years, I notice one improvement and one change. The improvement: a shinier cover. The change: the drilled hole in the upper cover is gone. How, then, to hang it in that house back there?

I'm not sure what it was that made me order this item but I'm glad I did. I remember my family having them growing up. It was used to help with weather forecasts mostly but I always enjoyed flipping through the book as a child. As I'm preparing to move to a large property, raise animals, and garden, I thought I'd check this book out. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a 5 star rating is the ads mingled throughout. I'm way past the point of wanting to see ads in a paperback book. My favorite parts are the little tidbits in the beginning and the sunrise/sunsets for the year. I love the weather forecasting although I'm not positive of the accuracy. I think they have around 80% accuracy (which is pretty much the norm for meterologists I'd assume). Even my teens enjoyed looking at this. I'll be buying them yearly!

I love this "Almanac" and get it religiously every single year. I thoroughly enjoy it. So, it's no surprise that I ordered it and enjoy it again this year. But the delivery, wow, by noon a day after I ordered it.......that was tremendous! Great job, Amazon!

So far its beating the weather man out on its predictions yet again. If you live in a region with unpredictable weather and this almanac covers, get it. Worst that will happen is you have your winter coat or umbrella and dont need it. Best is, like me, 14 hours into shift everyone is checking out the back up winter coats until we are out then shivering in their sweaters and you have yours tucked away in a locker ready to go. My landlord also loves the crop info, and became a believer with the 2019 almanac and the late frost and flooding it warned of. He bought his own this year, as I wasnt willing to part with mine for months on end again.

I buy this every year. Even though the forecast areas are too broad to depend on this for the weather, there are a lot of interesting articles and the astronomical events. This is the best of the Farmers Almanacs.

I buy this almanac every year and what I like most about it that the predictions are actually very accurate. Farmers Almanac even rates they're accuracy of predictions from the last years issue. The story content is always entertaining, too. I also like many of the advertisements, they seem to be very picky over what types of ads appear on each issue. The book itself is assembled very professionally and comes with a real petty book cover. It's a companion book that can be read and used all year.

There was no horoscope, or maybe you only get that in the not “old” one??? Usually buy in the store & would not have bought this. It is a nice version with lots of info... give this as a gift & we enjoy all the forecasts etc... as well as reading our next year’s fortune...

I’m having to rewrite my review... I DID RECEIVE my 2020 Farmer’s Almanac!! I don’t know why I thought I was reading the 2021 Almanac! Old age maybe (SMH). This is the first almanac I have ever read. It’s extremely informative and accurate! So many interesting articles ... I don’t know why I’ve never thought of purchasing this book before!

NO HOLE! this is the "deluxe" version, more articles, but they should have been specific that there is no hole! I hang this up in my bathroom, partly for space considerations and partly for charm. Everybody enjoys the Almanac, it's the only lavatory literature for me! I will have to find a regular holed copy or drill one myself.

Great hardcover copy for a great price. I remember my grandfather swore by these in regards to planting/harvesting forecasts. I enjoy the trivia/information that is provided in an educational and entertaining manner.

I really like the old farmers almanac. It's amazing how accurate it is for my area. There is information about pets, pain relievers, holidays, weather for each area of the US and what to expect, farming , gardening, pain relief & so much more. A wealth of info. Will continue to buy it.

I can't help it - I always go back to the Farmer's Almanac when I want to look into the future for weather forecasts. I don't know how they do it, but more often than not, it is reliable and continues to be more reliable than our local forecasters. I gave it four stars because it does include lots of unrelated information.

I've been reading these since my 20's and I'm old now. Articles are sufficiently interesting/quirky to always keep my attention. I think the National Weather Service now gives more accurate forecasts, but they don't have the provenance & interesting articles of this publication.

I always get the Farmers Almanac, kind of a tradition. Either stores are out of it or don't have it, etc. Since I don't get around too well these days, it was great having it delivered. Will do again if available next year. Of course I get it for weather forecast but like articles in it also.

Always wondered if the Old Farmers Almanac was accurate with the weather predictions. Not even 2 weeks into the new year and they blew it. Not even close.

This is a new edition for me. I have been getting the Farmer's Almanac for years. I ordered this edition, not knowing that it had more "goodies" inside than the one I usually got. I love it. However, there is only one problem...this printing does NOT have its usual hole in the upper left corner. How could I hang it on its usual nail, in its usual place? I, however, being the true farm affectionato, quickly solved that problem with my trusty electric drill. Problem solved! Hey the extra material made the extra effort quite worth it.

Like everything with the weather it can change in the blink of an eye but I always enjoy reading the Farmer's almanac and what they are predicting and it amazes how often they are right on. Since 2020 hasn't begun we shall see how close they are this year. Like the other articles in the book as well.

There is nothing I dislike about The Old Farmers Almanac. It is definitely the preferred almanac. There are lots of facts, hints & suggestions in the almanac. And most of all the weather predictions are really pretty accurate. Love the hard back almanacs.

Full of advertisements....lacked informational sections as they did in the past. Don’t buy it & utilize utube & websites. Disappointed hoping the format when my father in law used to get them. 🙁

This is my go-to for overall long range annual weather prediction. I find that it is fairly accurate most of the time just as local weather short range predictions are accurate most of the time. I enjoy reading the almanac each year. Thank you.

My wife gets one of these in her stocking every year for the past 15 years. Down side is I have to hear all the bits of random facts in it while I'm trying to watch the game on TV. I will, however, continue to purchase the almanac because it makes her happy.

Was delivered in one day! This almanac is slightly bigger than the ones I have bought at stores in past years, it also has more pages of some things worth reading I am sure. I will buy 2021 from Amazon for sure, as soon as it is available.

I get one of these every year for my husband. He really enjoys reading the tidbits in it and also how accurate the weather is forecast. An inexpensive book that brings enjoyment/entertainment. How can you go wrong?

Lots of helpful information on many subjects having to do with sun moon stars and planets. Gardening, Astrology ,Astronomy, Calendar,home remedies and much more. Very interesting and informative read! Moon signs and weather also.

I love the Old Farmer's Almanac. So many interesting articles as well as helpful information. You don't need to be a farmer nor live in the country to enjoy it. It has survived through the years and continues to be a valuable little book to have around the house. Highly recommend!

Too many advertisements

I wish I had not purchased this. On the E Book, the writing was extremely tiny on the charts. I wasted my money.

This is a condensed version of the Farmers Almanac. Did not know this when ordering?

I got the kindle version and its pretty much useless. Hard to find things. Calendars don't include needed info. Tells you to go to websites for info. Doesn't give enough useful info for me.

Tried and true. Look up the weather for your region and pick a wedding date accordingly. It works. You can look up the weather about a year in advance. There is so much useful info in this book.

Ads? Seriously? Ruined the entire experience for me.

How can you not like the Farmers almanac? It gives you insight of the year and has loads of helpful information on gardening. Each year, I buy my sons and myself an almanac and we enjoy the articles. A must for the gardener and facts lover.

I've given my son an Old Farmer's Almanac on Christmas for years (decades actually). He loves to just look through it for all sorts of information, including the weather.

There is so much advertising mixed into the pages that it’s distracting. Wish there was a good place for me to drill my own hole, without losing material.

Good value for the price. No need to pay twice the price in the discount stores. Delivered to my home, and did not have to stand in line at the check out.

What can you say about the Old Farmers Almanac except that it is always top quality and enjoyable.

This is a family tradition, we buy one for each of our adult sons and one for ourselves. We all thoroughly enjoy it from front to back.

Unlike my previous Farmers Almanac, this copy had a tiny section on how to plant but I couldn’t find WHEN to plant!

The farmers almanac is a staple. It gives you heaps of useful information and tips on nearly everything domestic from gardening and cooking to advice and trivia. We buy one every year.

As expected, big fan of the information. Not a fan of the ad on page 155 for my 9-yr old. Blacked it out and all is well.

I have been buy the farmers almanac for more than 30 years. It not perfect but better for future casting of the weather and when to plant and great articles.

There is about 4 pages on growing. I expected more on type of soil for type of plant. More on container growing. Expected more from a farmers almanac.

It gives good weather info, astronomy tips and interesting trivia as well as gardening tips.

I buy one every Christmas. It has great information and tons of fun stuff.

For me this is the kind of book you want to pickup and flip thru pages and stop at a random place. Did not enjoy reading it on a Kindle.

I've never read th Farmer's Almanac before. I found the information interesting and hopefully will find the information useful when it comes time for gardening.
