The My Little Pony G1 Collector's Inventory

I couldn't ask for a better inventory guide on the G1 My Little Ponies. It was well organized and easy to follow. The pictures were large, clear, and crisp. In the back, it contained a comprehensive index, making it easy to look up where the ponies where if you already knew their names. Published in 2008, the book is a bit old. But it was nice how it included suggested prices for when it was published. Some of those prices have remained the same, while others have gone up or down. I found it interesting to see what has changed and what has remained the same.

I bought this because my toddler is in a My Little Pony phase, and it brought back memories of my own childhood toys of My Little Pony. I'm not a collector, I don't even watch the show (but then, neither does my daughter), and yet, I found this book wonderful! Brought back a lot of memories about my favorite toy (I had the rainbow haired earth pony), and I'm glad that my daughter is enjoying this toy now. I appreciate the full-color photos and the index of all accessories (it's in the front, so as not to detract from the pony itself). The playsets and other toys that are part of the MLP world are also listed, some of them I've never even HEARD of. Wonderful resource (a friend of mine who still has the Dream Castle from the '80's was interested in borrowing this) for the collector, or just for the person who, like me, is remembering childhood moments. Highly recommended!

I have over 400 G1 My Little Ponies, and this is an invaluable encyclopedia of all the My Little Ponies produced in the 1980s. It's great to check off what I have and set goals for what I want. The book is organized well, the descriptions are good, and the pictures of every single available pony are high quality and clear. It's a bible for any true collector. I believe they also have books for G2 and G3 collectors as well. Two critiques: 1) This only covers US Ponies, so if you're into collecting international ponies, there is no information on those sets in here. I'm not sure if there's another book that covers that. 2) The pricing on the various ponies can be completely ignored. This thing was published years ago, and prices on ponies have risen substantially. Don't rely on the price guides in here, just use it for the information.

Very detailed and categorized by year and series. Good photos. I especially like the accessories that came with the pony is listed. There is a photo page that gives all the combs and brushes names to help match to the pony.

I have a large inventory of My Little Pony and accessories and this book has been my most valuable tool. Beautiful full color pictures, accurate descriptions of ponies and accessories, and nothing has been left out. This book includes rare issues - mail order and gift sets. I no longer spend time searching the internet trying to find the name of a pony or which pony gets what brush or other tiny accessory. Even if you are not a reseller and just love My Little Pony, you will want to own this book.

I picked this up when I found an old box of ponies in my attic from my childhood. It was great for identifying the ones I had, and inspired me to collect a few I always wanted. Still book helps me a lot with knowing what release date the ponies that I order on Amazon or find at thrift stores. Great pictures and gives you around what or how much they will cost. It is worth to get if you don't have the time to go on the Internet to find what a ponies name and release date is. Also the book is great with what pony goes to what collection when they were first brought out. The guide also helps you know what accessories go to the ponies.

Great book, few mistakes in it. But I wish an update would be released as the prices are not correct since it has been published. But the pony industry fluctuates daily so it would be hard to put an estimated value on them in today's market.

This has to be the best book for My Little Pony collectors. It has a full color picture of every single pony from this era, along with a detailed list of every item the pony came with. Absolutely a requirement for anyone trying to organize & sort out their collection. I have already bought her G3 (generation 3) book & the one that followed. Summer Hayes is now at the top of my "favorites" list!

This is the most comprehensive collectors inventory I have found. It has all the ponies and their accessories. It lists a value as well, but we know that those can fluctuate! I call it my pony bible!

I'm a new collector and wanted a book to help me identify pieces to the playsets and compose my pony wish list. :)

Absolutely perfect fpr collectors

My eleven year old daughter is a collector of My Little Ponies and this guide has really helped her sort through my childhood ponies. This Guide is well organized and put together. Will be buying the other ones in the series.

I have over 300 my little pony's. There are a lot that aren't in this book but it doesn't seem to matter because this book has still helped me a ton with the ones I have. Giving me facts and keeping organized. I love it!

I bought this book for my 30 year old daughter who was been collecting My Little Pony items since she was a child. She has been very happy with the book's pictures and prices of these.

I got this for my daughter. I don't know much about the topic, except that she is mostly interested in the older models. It came promptly and seemed to be good quality.

This book is great - however it DOES NOT HAVE ALL THE PONIES IN IT! I have some in my collection that are NOT in the book - frustrating! However, the book is laid-out and designed very well, with pics.

Good seller. Would buy again.

Everything is priced the same.

This is a very well organized and complete checklist of ponies and their accessories from the G1 era (1980s - early 1990s). Each pony has a picture, and some accessories are pictured as well. The pictures are also fairly high quality, and you can definitely identify each pony by the picture shown. The ponies and accessories all have tentative prices and values included, though if you want to find an accurate price for your pony at this exact moment, doing a little research on ebay, etc. would be a good idea. I do have to say that this is a very good book to use when organizing your collection, and every MLP collector should own a copy! Note, however, that international ponies are not listed in this book. These are all American releases.

Best book ever for collectors. My first one was used so much it fell apart! Had to buy another!

My girlfriend finally decided to sell her extensive My Little Pony G1 collection. She had 170 MLPs with all sorts of additional parts, clothes, accessories and structures. I bought this book to help her identify her MLPs and it was perfect for that purpose. She would have spent untold numbers of hours trying to identify MLPs online and try to determine an approximate value. With this book, I probably saved her days, if not weeks, of time doing that research. This book was an invaluable resource for her. I recommend it without reservation.

The guide is beautifully done, with clear pictures and fantastic organization. There is clearly a lot of research and work that has gone into this labor of love, and it shows. This book is just brimming with valuable information. It's a great resource to have on hand. For those of us with extensive collections, it really makes all the difference when trying to organize and inventory ponies and accessories. As someone who owns both of Summer's books, I highly suggest getting one of your own--it's a great investment!

My wife loves this book: "The best G1 collectors book ever, clear full color pictures of ponies,playsets and stickers. It is nicely organized by year of release, it even includes Petit Ponies, Dream Beauties, Little Litters, and My Pretty Pony product lines." As a note to anyone connected financially to a Pony Enthusiast. Next to every picture there is a little note of how much the pony is worth. So giving this book as a gift might mean something like. "This will help you complete your collection, so start looking on Ebay"

The pictures in this book are terrific. They are full color and quite detailed. I especially like that Dream Beauties, petites and little litters are included. Accessories are listed but not always shown but it's a wealth of information. I am really enjoying reading it.

Even though it only shows US ponies, and the pricing is way out of date, this book is great for references. I just started selling Gen 1 MLP, and its great for identifying ponies, accessories and costumes!

As a mexican growing up in Mexico i did like ponies. I even had some of them but of course, the mlp universe was a bit more difficult to access for me than for the average american girl. This book is great for anyone who would like to know more about the G1, including merchandise that was never available in foreign countries such as mine. Plenty of photographs and detailed information!. My only issue is the type of paper it is printed on- some photographs do not look as sharp as they should. Anyway, it is a must read for pony lovers, specially older ones.

It's very well classified, but it does not have every ponies, sadly. If you have UK exclusive ponies, do not think they are in the book. I think the only ones in it are the north american ponies. I was disapointed to not see the UK ponies.

Beautiful and comprehensive guide for collectors old and new. Also includes related products and pony merch other than just the ponies themselves.

Even though values of ponies have come up drastically, this book is perfect for collectors who wish to know all the details of a specific pony and the accessories tant came with it. I like the checklist, wish it had more of a condensed one that we could use separately from the book.

It’s incredibly informative

I have always loved the G1 My Little Pony series and grew up with it as a little girl. As a teen, I got back into the swing of the franchise by collecting my friends' outgrown G1 ponies - until my brother decided to cut all their heads off with scissors, of course. The bug never really left me and I still found myself in love with G1 as an adult after falling for the new My Little Pony series, which is G5. My main love with the G1 ponies was finding out what the ponies were called by matching the symbols and colours to the names. Unfortunately, finding the right pony was not always easy with online tools and I often relied on online pals to identify them for me. I saw this guide online and it was exactly what I was looking for. I loved learning all the names of the ponies and seeing their symhols and colours. The guide is filled with photos of the ponies, along with accessories and playsets, with approximate values given in dollars (you can always half them to get an approximate price in pounds, should you need to). It even has a section at the beginning dedicated to identifying a real My Little Pony, which is very helpful since a large number of unlicensed copies popped up, both then and now, that seek to exploit unwary collectors. As has been mentioned before, the guide does not contain every single My Little Pony from G1; for example, I have a European only Baby Pictures who is not featured, and no pictures of the European variants of the ponies are covered, but we must remember that Ms Hayes is covering only the American releases and also that it would be a mammoth task to find every single variant. I don't blame the author for not doing so, but I do mention this for other European or British collectors because you may have ponies that are not featured in this guide. Personally, I keep this vibrant and beautifully-illustrated book as a reference guide and mainly for aesthetic reasons, since I love to look at the ponies. It would also be perfect for pricing or buying ponies and settling disputes when buying face to face. It is a little pricey but considering it is a very large book (around the size of 2 A4 pieces of paper laid horizontally on top of each other) and filled with colour photos and images, I feel it is a worthy investment if you're in the hobby.

This book maybe pricey but I would definitely recommend it as an essential resource for all G1 MLP collectors. I was a bit wary of purchasing this guide because of the price and the fact that there are some really great websites out there but was nicely suprised at the quality of the item that arrived through my letter box. The paper is of good quality, the layout is nice and clean going by year, the pictures are clear (and beautiful!), it lists all accessories appertaining to each pony and, ofcourse, gives a price guide (in dollars) for each pony/item. As a newbie collector, it was a great starting point to be able to pick it up and be able to easily identify each item I had, rematch up accessories and give an approximate value to everything (In some cases I was pleasantly suprised!). There are even boxes next to the ponies so you can tick off the ones you have. It's even acts as a nice coffee table book which you can pick and flick through at the end of a long day! On the other hand, there are no variations of ponies by country only the US versions as this is an American book. However, this is more than a great place to start for newbie's and veteran collectors alike and I would still highly recommend this invaluable guide. Great!

Cosas buenas: -Clasificacion por años. -Hay una foto de cada pony con el nombre y los complementos que llevaban. -También hay información sobre sets, pegatinas y ropa. -Precio aproximado del pony a la venta. Cosas malas: -Las fotos no son de excesiva calidad, y algunos ponys están un poco despeinados. -Los precios indicados son irreales para Europa, aquí no se encuentran ponies tan baratos. Hay hasta de 1 dólar... Además, los precios son casi los mismos para todos, con alguna excepción. - No expone las características de cada uno ni sus variantes. Hay algún pony que está repetido dos veces porque se vendían por vías diferentes, pero no expone cual es la característica para diferenciarlos. - Al ser americana no tiene en cuenta los ponis de otros países. En general el libro es interesante como referencia, pero le falta información.

Very detailed book on the US Ponies, playsets & accessories, from My Pretty Pony to Tenth Anniversary & everything inbetween. The author is right about the vast amount of merchandise available, but as yet there are no availability guides on MLP merchandise, which I'm sure would also sell, especially things that still work now that you don't have to be a child to use like piggybanks, clocks & radios. I hope a merchandise book like this one is released as well. Will deffo be getting the G2, G3, G3.5 (known by the years) & early G4 books, plus a book on Ponies outside the States, to complete the series, at some point in the near future. All are on my wishlist here, just waiting for the funds to buy them... Just hope the author, or another author, publishes a merchandise book or three??? Please...

Die Ponybibel für angehende und erfahrene G1 Sammler. Es sind alle in den USA erschienene Ponys darin enthalten. Dazu jeweils die kompletten Zubehörlisten. Für Europäer nicht wirklich maßgeblich, weil es hier Abweichungen gab, aber man kann die Ponys abhaken und erhält eine gute Übersicht, was man hat und was noch fehlt. Leider fehlen, da wie gesagt auf den amerikanischen Raum begrenzt, sämtliche EU Exclusives und Varianten. Die Preisangaben sind keine Richtlinie, weil sie stetig schwanken bzw. seit Erscheinen des Buches gestiegen sind. Toll finde ich die Übersicht über die Plüschis und Sticker. Ich habe und werde weiterhin gerne in diesem Katalog schmöckern und sehe es als gelungene Ergänzung zu den zahlreichen Websites.

A lot of information. Nice pictures. But I feel like some of the ponys and stuff are missing. And ok, if it was a book of everything mlp g1, it would be a never-ending story.

A really useful guide for collectors with a great abundance of information. As a UK collector, it was a little disappointing that a number of european ponies (including very valuable ones) are not listed, leaving me a bit in the dark about a lot of my collection, though this is understandable as it is an american book. Another small issue was that the prices are not as accurate to today's values, but again, not the fault of the book itself. It is still very well put together and extremely helpful, a wonderful and invaluable guide, well recommended.

Si es cierto que las hojas son de papel fino y que empiezo a sufrir al ver cómo lo lleva mi hija, pero me está indicando genial para recordar los nombres y las familias de los "miembros" de mi colección (que no son pocos). También salen las variantes de color/tipo de hijos, etc, incluso los accesorios que llevaba cada pony.

My daughter collects g1 ponies, so she bought this lovely guide to tick off her purchases. The guide is beautiful, with large, colourful pictures and lots of info. The only downside is that it only covers US ponies. Most of our ponies are European exclusives and not featured in this book. Also, we did notice a mistake in the book, where the names of two of the ponies had been mixed up. Still, this is a lovely coffee table book to delight pony fans of all ages.

Es un libro realmente interesante en cuanto que se describen y catalogan todos los artículos que salieron a la venta. Esta muy bien organizado y presentado. El único problema que tiene es que esta impreso en hojas de papel corriente y no en hojas de acetato, por lo que la calidad de las fotos es muy baja y no son nada nítidas. Las hojas son como impresas directamente de la impresora de tu casa y con nivel ahorro. Es una lástima.

Brilliant book and delivered very quick! As the book is American, it doesn't have the European specials but it's great fun ticking off the ponies as you get them. So much information, it's a really informative collectors book!

Bought for my fiance. She will often use this for reference when she gets stuck identifying a pony. Only real down side is it is incomplete as far as international variants and releases.
