A love story for Christmas—now a Hallmark Channel original movie—from the #1 bestselling author of The Christmas Box and The Walk. Elise Dutton dreads the arrival of another holiday season. Three years earlier, her husband cheated on her with her best friend, resulting in a bitter divorce that left her alone, broken, and distrustful. Then, one November day, a stranger approaches Elise in the mall food court. Though she recognizes the man from her building, Elise has never formally met him. Tired of spending the holidays alone, the man offers her a proposition. For the next eight weeks—until the evening of December 24—he suggests that they pretend to be a couple. He draws up a contract with four rules: 1. No deep, probing personal questions 2. No drama 3. No telling anyone the truth about the relationship 4. The contract is void on Christmas Day The lonely Elise surprises herself by agreeing to the idea. As the charade progresses, the safety of her fake relationship begins to mend her badly broken heart. But just as she begins to find joy again, her long-held secret threatens to unravel the emerging relationship. But she might not be the only one with secrets.

A Christmas Confection to Savor!

There is nothing better to get in the spirit of the holidays like reading a Richard Paul Evans novel. His latest offering "The Mistletoe Promise" is a delicious treat for the heart. Elise Dutton and Nicholas Derr are two souls with heartwrenching moments in their past who find themselves alone and lonely with the holiday season approaching. Nick, a successful lawyer proposes that they enter a mutually beneficial contract that would allow them to act as a couple for all the upcoming social events on their calendars. Elise is intrigued with the idea. They agree to a "Purely platonic relationship" and each find themselves falling harder for one another as time goes on. A final revelation serves to bring them even closer together and ultimately shows that there is hope and light in forgiveness and in letting go. This is one of the best romances I have read in a long time. Not one emotion is left untouched. Richard Paul Evans is masterful at tugging a reader's heart and keeping them hoping the story never ends. It is perfect literary comfort food. This book should be on every Santa list and is a terrific read to give and share with anyone.

Christmas in July

I have watched and enjoyed the Hallmark movie, The Mistletoe Promise, it’s one of my favorites, more adult, addressing infidelity and divorce. I decided it was time to read the book it was based on. The books characters are fulling developed, and it has a deep sadness that would never be written into the movie. The book is Elise’s diary and is written from her perspective. Nick the attorney who suggests a Christmas Contract to spend 2 months before Christmas together is written as a truly generous, caring, and real. I read the book in a few hours as it flows easy and you watch the main characters enjoy different holiday events. Reading it in July was a great idea, it’s not your typical holiday romance. I was filled with emotions, heartbreak, sadness, hope, joy, and love. If you are looking for a light read pass on this until you are ready for a Christmas story full of life, heartbreak, despair, forgiveness, hope, second chances and love!

Christmas for the lonely ones

I had the extreme pleasure of reading several of Richard Paul Evans books during this Christmas season, they are outstanding. Elise Dutton and Nicholas Derr are people who are lonely and since Christmas is the loneliest time of the year for people who are alone, Nicholas hatched a plot to keep their spirits up for Christmas. They had a contract to be involved with each other for the seven weeks prior to Christmas. The concept is an interesting one and of course, there are hundreds of books that employ, agreements for temporary fiancée's, wives, and plus ones. This is unique in the employment of a written legal contract with specific rules. Elise had an awful divorce and a terrible marriage, she can't forgive herself for something that happened and her ex-husband never let her live it down. Those circumstances contributed to her depressing life without close friends. Nicholas lives a more active lifestyle but he has his own cross to bear. But together maybe they can support each other and make Christmas a better event for both of them. This is a wonderful, heart-touching, compassionate story. You will love it!

Very enjoyable read!

First off, I made the mistake of thinking it was the same as the Hallmark channel's version. I had caught part of the movie and thought I would be able to fill in the parts that I had missed by reading the book. Not the case. The two stories are similar, but the book is very different. I kept trying to understand WHY Nicholas would enter into such a contract with Elise (definitely not to make partner in the law firm since he was already a partner). It also never made sense to me why he was so considerate and thoughtful but didn't already have a wife or even a girlfriend. Everything was explained quite well in the end. The author did a very good job of developing the two main characters and as each of their histories came out the characters acted in a believable manner and the ending was handled very well. I definitely would recommend this book and will most likely read the other two in the series.

A heartwarming story of love and redemption...

What a beautiful love story! I just finished reading it for the third or fourth time. I enjoy this story so much that I read it every Christmas. I just checked and I have never left a review for it, so here goes. I have read and enjoyed all of Richard Paul Evans's books and this one did not disappoint. This is a heartwarming story of a man and a woman who both have dark secrets. I realize that some readers may be appalled by these secrets, but others will recognize that the heart and the mind can punish those with a tender conscience worse than time spent behind bars. Mr. Evans has created likeable characters (other than a certain ex-husband). Elise and Nicholas were so real that I could feel their joy and their pain, their hope and their feelings of rejection and dejection. l also liked the revelation of the character of Zoey, as well. Mr. Evans's characters are so realistic and lifelike. If you enjoy stories of love and redemption, you will certainly enjoy this book. I highly recommend it.

Disappointed

Because this book received such a high rating from so many, I purchased it. It lacked substance and the characters were just characters. There was no real life connection or building of them and their relationship. I didn't find myself not wanting to put the book down or wanting to read it to see what happens next. I just wanted it done. (Just being real.) This is the first of Mr. Evans' books I've read, and I do hate to be negative. I'm hoping for better with the next book I'll be reading of his because I bought it when purchasing this one at the recommendation of a friend.

To find hope, look up.

I've been giving a Richard Paul Evans book to my daughter-in-law who lives in Utah every Christmas for nearly 15 years. Until this year, I'd never read one. When buying her gift this year I accidentally purchased a Kindle version. Upon realizing my mistake, I downloaded that version to my iPad and then ordered the printed copy for her. That's why I read The Mistletoe Promise this year. The storyline moved quickly and Evans' style is engaging. I enjoyed the book and found myself high-lighting key thoughts along the way. It was as if the author was speaking to me. One of those phrases was about hope when Nicholas (the leading male character) wrote... "My dear Elise, It’s been said that the Magi, wise men, gazed up into the night skies, following a star. But they were not looking for a star. They were looking for hope. Hope of a new world. Hope of redemption. Light is not found in dark places, and hope is not found looking down or looking back. May you always look up". This passage struck me, in part, because without hope it's easy to let optimism and opportunity slide by. And, in part, because for all those Christmases I've also sent a crystal star to my son's family to add to their tree. Maybe it's become the family tree of hope. Merry Christmas!

I read the summary of it and knew I would love it though

I look forward to Richard Paul Evan's Christmas book every time he is going to release one. I even pre order it to make sure I do get it on the day of its release. This book was one of my favorites from him. I read the summary of it and knew I would love it though. His books are all styled the same, shorter chapters which I LOVE, a story around Christmas and a story that all ages can read. Nothing dirty, nothing sexually. This particular book is a love story like you have never read before. I finished it in one setting and so glad that I did. However now I do feel sad that I do not have another one to read! I won't ruin the actual story as I hate reviews that do but if you have read Evans before, this will be your favorite! And if you haven't, what are you possibly waiting for?!

Awesome, awesome book

Awesome, awesome book! I would give it 10 stars if I could. One of my favorite books now, for sure. I saw the Hallmark movie of this in December but wanted to also read the book. The book is ten times better than the movie. The movie was good, and I still pictured the lovely actors as I read, but the movie lacked the depth of what these characters were going through. It was more fluff. There was a whole lot more going on in this story than just two people falling in love. I would recommend this book to anyone! The ending was beautiful - the last paragraph gave me happy tears. When I grow up, I wanna be an awesome writer like Richard.

The Mistletoe Promise

I absolutely LOVED this book. It was different from the Hallmark movie but in a much better way. It was very romantic and I preferred this story to the rewrite for Hallmark. They should’ve kept the story it is great enough there was no need for a rewrite. He has all the elements in it that made it a great story. I will definitely read this every Christmas to enjoy the season!

easy, enjoyable read ~ light for the holidays

Whew! Well, well, what a little surprise! (I actually guessed the plot twist) The (sometimes) flippant, casual conversation of the 2 involved belies a major plot-twist up-ahead. Buckle-up! Warning -- some heavy/possibly 'controversial' material ! I was surprised(esp from a Utah Mormon -- with 5 children!!!) But kudos to author Evans for keeping it real . . . and entertaining . . . and charming. Fast, easy, enjoyable read ~ light for the holidays; inspirational; touching. I'm glad I ordered another book of his~~ Finding Noel; now I KNOW that THAT one's gonna be as good as this one -- maybe even better !

The Promise of love, forgiveness and hope is a treasure

Every year I look forward to a loving hopeful message found in another book by Richard Paul Evans. He doesn't write long books, but each one is powerful in its message of love, forgiveness, hope... that speaks to commonality in everyone's journey through the joys and problems in life. This one is no exception- I couldn't put it down. It is a beautiful love story that starts out with 2 lonely people at the holidays who form a "dating" contract for the Thanksgiving to Christmas period. It is a time of much joy and many activities for many people, but for single, divorced, widows, it can be a time of despair as well. Events in our past can negatively shape our self-image no matter how hard we try to move on. The most powerful message of finding self-love, self-worth, and forgiveness is the message of this season's treasured novel. Every year I enjoy any book by this author and always find myself purchasing it for others on my list.

Light Hearted ( almost )

I enjoyed this book which I purchased after thoroughly enjoying the Hallmark movie by the same name. While the book and movie both share the same basic plot, the two main characters in the book both have a tragic history bringing them together. The movie was much more light hearted and centered on a messy divorce as the catalyst for Elise rather than an extremely tragic and disturbing event in her past. Based on the movie, I was looking for a " feel- good" light read. It was a bit more than I bargained for.

Fast Read, Clean Story, Delightful Characters

Sweet, fun story about a couple you'll be rooting for and hoping they get together. Nick asks her to enter into a contract (Which they dub the Mistletoe Promise), to pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend through the holiday season. Both of the main characters have a secret they are hiding, afraid that the other person will be shocked by. I read this in a few hours, anxious to find out what happened when th contract expired. As usual, Mr. Evans has crafted another awesome Christmas story.

Was great but lacked a connection with reader

I bought this book because it had a good rating and the description was interesting and because it was a guy writing a love story. Even though the story line and the characters were great there was a bit of a disconnect for me. I do not know if it was the wording of some things or the he she they perspective or the distancing of the author. I do not write many reviews but I feel like this book was worth it. Original plot with deep characters but as soon as I tried to be sucked in, the story moved on. Something was missing and I cannot put my figure to it. Thank you for writing this story Mr.

Mistletoe Promise

It is a great book of love and forgiveness. I highly recommend you read it. Richard Paul Evens writes great books

Buy the book! It's that good!

I totally enjoy reading books that bring out all your emotions throughout the book. This book does just that! A page turner for sure. Once you start reading "The Mistletoe Promise" you will want to make sure you have plenty of time cause you won't want to stop reading until you finished the book. Then you want to read more of the story. I won't give you anything to reveal the story as it takes away from the enjoyment of reading the book. Get the book you'll be glad you did and totally worth the money spent. God Bless.

Feel good holiday romance

This story provides the reader on a magical journey that illustrates the power of forgiveness in oneself and others. It follows the romantic 'contract' between Jonathan, a successful lawyer, and Elise, a travel agent, who both experience the wonder of love, friendship, and family. The story is perfect for the Christmas season because it provides the reader with the importance of accepting the actions of others and moving on from pain through the redemption that occurs through acceptance of life circumstances.

Thank You Richard

I have a guilty selfish Thanksgiving tradition. I curl up with the annual PRE novel. You never disappoint. Mistletoe is one of the best. Characters grab you and hold you. The storyline takes you through a languid ride of emotions that you enjoy while wanting to pray with them. I again read the whole book in a single sitting. This one restores my faith in the humanity of man while increasing my hope for more people to show and share their goodness. We can all be better people and maybe it is love that causes us to be our best.

Richard Paul Evans does not disappoint...

Another really enjoyable story with great character development. The reader really feels the emotion in the story. Vivid descriptions of the food, scenery and locations make the reader want to really go visit each locale, and eat at each place described. I enjoy Richard Paul Evans writing. Well written stories with lots of emotion. I laugh and cry throughout each book I've read, and this one does not disappoint. I look forward to every new book.

Perfect love forgives all.

Once again Richard Paul Evans proves to me that writing is his gift to us all. For me it started with "The Christmas Box" and every book in between that he has written. I've read every one in between and with each book, I come away feeling renewed and surer that with all that is wrong with the world, there is so much that is right. A book can lift you to new heights even if it is fiction. Every one of Evan's books has lifted me, encouraged me and brought that save warm and loving feeling into my heart. He has a gift as a writer and he never disappoints.

The first book all year that I just couldn't put down!

The first book all year that I just couldn't put down! I started reading this after finishing another really good book. Man, I love to read. So this book started with an intriguing proposition and just kept getting better. And better. And better. And there was enough hard stuff in the story to keep it from being a syrupy read. Thank you, Richard Evans, for writing yet another extraordinary novel. I have loved your Walk series and anticipate the next book you write. Thank you also for writing clean novels that I can pass to my kids. I am grateful.

Absolutely Heart Filling!!

I've read love stories, but this is my new favorite. I laughed, cried, was in awe, and overall joyful. You did it again Mr. Evans!

Great gift for a light read

This was a fun read over Christmas vacation. I'd classify this as "fluff" reading, meaning it can be read merely for relaxation and enjoyment. There were a some parts that made me laugh because, as crazy as they were, they were really things that I could have imagined happening (the contract for dating). It was a fast read, and yet as all of Richard Paul Evans's books, had a deeper message to the story. I gave it to several people as a gift. Recommend it.

Fantastic read for Christmas.

This is a great book! It is the first one I read of Richard Paul Evans and it made me start reading his other books which I have also found very enjoyable. I recommended it to friends who also found it enjoyable. I must say it is nothing like the Hallmark adaptation of it. The movie version is a pale comparison to the book.

Another great book that people need to read.

The Mistletoe Promise was outstanding. I always know that anything by Richard Paul Evans will be a good book. So many twists and turns in this book. I get so involved when I read a book by the author that I don't want to do anything else but read. He is one author that a person can recommend to any of your friends and you won't have to worry about its content. The only problem I have is that his books aren't ever long enough. Keep up the good writing Richard.

This is my favorite fiction book

This is my favorite fiction book! I usually don't read fiction time and time again but I can't say that with this book. I love the complexity the author gives to his characters. They feel like real people with real problems that you can actually relate to. Reading books like this make me want to fall in love over and over again while renewing my conviction and hope of the kind of true love I read about in these pages.

An Incredible Lesson in Forgiveness.

This is a quick and easy read but wow what a beautiful story. You think it's going to be a love story between two lonely people but then it takes an unexpected turn and becomes so much more. I couldn't put the book down. The two main characters, Elise and Nicholas each have painful secrets that leave them guilt ridden. Through each other they learn to live and love again and do the hardest thing of all; forgive themselves. I don't do many reviews but this is a great read.

Great Christmas Story ( you won't be able to put this book DOWN)!

The Mistletoe promise is by far one of my favorite books. I could read this over and over again and never get tired of it. This story is about a woman's past who's lost a child and divorced. She comes across a man who helped her behind the scene and life went on. Years later they reunite and make a Mistletoe Promise. This is a wonderful Christmas Love STORY. I would most definitely recommend this book.

Love this authors books

He keeps storylines simple, yet when need be deals competently with the hard parts of life.

A very good read

I liked that it was a hallmark movie and that it keeps your interest

Great Christmas story

The Mistletoe Promise was a great read - just perfect for the holiday. I liked how the author protrayed the characters - in that the coworkers were curious about Elise's guy and Elise was worried because one of her coworkers was what she thought - more beautiful then she. She found out all people do not want to take things away from her and that she is a special person. It is a good holiday story that I will read again next year.

Mistletoe series

When I want a break from the world, I LOVE Richard Paul Evans and his books. Easy read but one I want to finish all at once. He always leaves me wanting to know more at the end of each book. I think I have read almost all of his books and hope he will write forever..I love the characters in the book and felt like I knew them personally..Love a make you feel good book.

Sweet, quick book

Just the kind of book I needed to finish off the holidays. Quick and sweet. No spoilers, but I guessed the connection between Elise and Nicholas very early. Although there is a tragic element, those readers that could not finish reading this book missed a happy ending and must be very sensitive since this aspect was not drawn out or graphic. This is the first book I have read by this author, I will research some of the others.

Fabulous!

This book was a fast read. The story line kept me interested and "couldn't wait to turn to the next page" to see what was next. Elise and Nicholas were two people that had things from the past that haunted them. Unbeknownst to Elise she didn't hear Nicholas' until almost to the end. Elise's ex-husband, Don, was a REAL JERK. Loved how two people, Elise and Nicholas, found each other In the most unexpected way and went on to share their time. It became a love story and one of compassion and caring. Enjoyed this book greatly and so enjoy Richard Paul Evans' writings of endearment!

Hope and Redemption

I love romance, children, mystery, and faith. This book touches on all of it. I have read all of Richard Paul Evans Books. I found him by accident when looking for Nicholas Evans Books. Started reading the Walk Series .....They grabbed me and now he is my favorite Writer. I love reading books about goodness.....that there is still Hope, Love, and Forgiveness in this world. I don't spend my time on books or movies that are not uplifting, or don't offer Redemption. DKB

Perfect, Inspiring, Quick-Read for Holidays

I read on Evan's blog that this book, that this book, only released 2 weeks ago, has sold out in stores. He says you might find it on-line. Currently number 4 on the best seller list. No wonder! I read this in one day. Hooked from page one and left with the message of hope and redemption. The perfect gift to myself during the Christmas season. Once again, Evans has written a beautiful story that leaves his readers inspired.

I love Richard Paul Evans books and have since The Christmas ...

I love Richard Paul Evans books and have since The Christmas Box. This one did not disappoint me. I wasn't feeling all that good when I started the book, so I just stayed in bed and read it. It kept my interest the whole day and I had almost finished it when my son came home from work. Redemption at Christmas for 2 people, what can be better since this is the day that we celebrate the birth of Him who redeemed all of us.

Well-written, good story

I really enjoyed this book. I read a lot of Christmas-themed fiction every year. This book was a welcomed change from the poorly written new books I've been coming across this year. Hallmark made this into a movie. It was terrible. It didn't follow the book & lost much of what makes this story distinctive. This is a book I will probably read again next year.

Maybe Far-Fetched, but Intriguing Nonetheless

Yes the story is a bit far-fetched and the ending predictable, but I was so intrigued by the premise of the story that I didn't care. That's what Christmas stories are all about....hokey, far from reality type things that create a bit of "magic" in our otherwise mundane, 9 to 5 lives. I am going to buy more books from Mr. Evans because I believe he's an excellent story teller.

The best stocking stuffer book I saved for myself!!

Once again Richard Paul Evans has written a book that teaches a great lesson on forgiveness with a story that keeps you reading until you are done. Elise and Nicholas are so perfectly matched you know they are right for each other, but her dirt-bag ex husband is trying to break it up because he is a miserable wretch of a person. All fans of Richard Paul Evans works will love this book. Frankly it needs a sequel.

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME

Tenderness, LOVE, empathy, HOPE, forgiveness of others and forgiveness of self, Judge not and more all mingled together in one wonderful story. The story of two very lonely people who have suffered tragedies and agree to be a couple through the Christmas season in a platonic relationship. Every Richard Paul Evans book is better than the last. Richard: love the honeymoon in Italy.

Better than the movie

I read this book in one evening because I could not stop. I love the way Richard writes. I wish that it was a movie but no changes. A sin is a sin and there are no white little lies. Kindness to someone can be the reason that person continues living or giving up. Thank you, Richard for sharing your words with the world, you make it a better place to face everyday.

I loved the Mistletoe series

I loved the Mistletoe series. I always know which author to read when I am feeling a certain way. Like what medicine you take when you're sick. I am a psychotherapist. However, I have a real life too. So I read Richard Paul Evans when real life needs to be addressed. I just lost my daughter to cystic fibrosis. I needed something that would fill my heart and soul with something good to take me away from my current situation. When I am sad, and need to be lifted up, I read RPE. Always.

Anotjer Awesome Read on my Kindle!

I finished this book in 3 nights of before bed reading! Richard Paul Evans is one of my favorite authors, and has been for years. He writes stories in such a way that they touch your heart and make you feel the emotions of the story characters. He does not disappoint with a good read! Thankfully I could order it easily as an Amazon Kindle book. I can take and read it anywhere, like when waiting for an appointment, it is right there on my phone.

Mistletoe Promise

I just finished reading both the Mistletoe Promise and the Mistletoe Inn. Have to say that I love them both. The Mistletoe Inn should in my opinion be read first because it gives a kind of background to the Mistletoe Promise. I also got to see the movie Mistletoe Promise on the Hallmark Channel tonight. Loved the book more. Sorry I'm a reader!! The book is so much more detailed of the relationship between Elise and Nickolas. I fell in love with both of them as I did with Kimberly and Zeke. Can't wait to get started on the 3rd book The Mistletoe Secret!!! Thank you so much for all your writing Paul! Have loved everything I have read of yours Kayleene

A Holiday Must-Read

The book is much better than the Hallmark movie, which I enjoy annually a great deal. It is a powerful, well-written tale of loss, brokenness, forgiveness, and redemption. I would highly recommend putting the book at the top of your holiday must-read list.

Your past is not your future

Poor decisions with tragic consequences can block the light from a person's life. Forgiveness is elusive and often temporary. These two, Elise and Nicholas, each tortured by past events, find each other and reach for the light that love and acceptance offers. Call me a Pollyanna, but I believe in the redemptive power of forgiveness and that love is always the answer.

Wonderful story

Love, love, love this book. I absolutely love following the romance and twists of this amazing book. Definitely a page turner.

Enjoyable reading for romance lovers

I read this book in an afternoon. There is something about books by R.P.E. that I have to finish in one gulp. I only buy these books on line because his books are not sold here and I do not celebrate Christmas , nevertheless, I enjoy a good well written romance like the best of romantics. My favorite book by Evans is The Sunflower. Enjoy

Togather

Sometimes you have to search for understanding the lives we live the choices we make ,mistakes ,sins ,lies, all the bad ,stuff, in our lives that we don't see now , how we did ,and still beat ourselves up over, are not easily understood by others it is rare to find this this story is a beautiful exception .VERY Good would recommend to anyone especially someone dealing with unforgiving of oneself

Excellent book as usual from my favorite author

Excellent book as usual from my favorite author. I loved the storyline. Great book to read to get into the Christmas spirit. I try to read a Christmas book every year. It is my tradition to remember what Christmas is all about. Unfortunately there were a few misspelled words and one wrong word used out of context. But you can get by all of that. Enjoy

A Beautiful Story exquisitely Told

It is rare for me to enjoy a book so much that as soon as I finish it, I immediately want to reread it. This is one of them. I love Mr. Evans' writing, and this story of two people who have experienced horrific tragedy, yet find peace, forgiveness and love with each other, is exquisitely told. I was captivated from the start, and was not disappointed as the story unfolded.

Fabulous read.

I thought this book was very well written. It's one of those books that once you start reading it is very hard to stop reading. I loved the story line of heartache & regret but must of all forgiveness not just of others but of the ability to show we really need to forgive ourselves of things that has happened in our past. I highly recommend this book to all. I love RPE's books. He doesn't disappoint.

a wonderful Holiday read . . .

An enchanting novel from the first page through the last. A good read for any time of the year, but especially during the holiday season, it generates a certain warmth, peace, and goodwill towards men. So glad I stumbled across it, it reminded me why this author is one of my favorites. I highly recommend you get started on this one this holiday season.

Excellent read

This book was amazing. I was ill @ couldn't sleep so I grabbed my Kindle @ when I opened it this book appeared. I read half of it @ finished it in the morning. I've read most of Evans books @ this one was not a disappointment. It was fast reading, which I like. It was uplifting @ left me feeling like there are still good people in our world.

I have liked the Author for many years

Evans does it again I have read just about all his books. I have liked the Author for many years. i stopped reading for a few years and I will say that I am glad I am back reading them again. Mistletoe Promise .... Holidays again no steady date and the dreaded parties Let's make a contract and see where it takes them. READ it you will enjoy it What else do you have to do!

Nice Twist

This romance story had a little different twist than the normal meet and fall in love. These two people had a contract so they wouldn't be alone during the Christmas Holidays. Interesting. I like the book very much with the different spin he presented to her so they would not have to spend another holiday alone and enjoy together what they hadn't in years.

I absolutely love everything Richard Paul Evans has written

This story exceeded my expectations. I have watched the movie in bits and pieces and thought I would hear about the same thing on the audio tape. What a surprise ending this story actually has that was not captured in the movie. I absolutely love everything Richard Paul Evans has written. He is a gifted author!

One of those rare romance novels that is not sappy!

I don't like romance novels because they are almost always contrived to the point of incredulity. Handsome boy meets beautiful girl, blah, blah, blah. Richard Paul Evans somehow pulled off a perfect story with a most unusual twist. Like all Christmas novels, everyone lives happily ever after but this one is just different enough to make it downright "fun."

and to other wonderful places. Soon it will be Christmas Day

Two people who work in the same building, and see each other daily having lunch in the food court, decide for the eight weeks leading up to Christmas to pretend to the world around them to be a "couple" for the obligatory Christmas parties. She is a travel planner; he is a lawyer. He writes the contract that will guide them through these weeks, but she prefers the word promise -- hence the title. Every day, as a part of the promise, he sends her something to her office -- sometimes a little gift, sometimes something more valuable, once dozens of roses. They go out to dinners, to shows, to his partners' Christmas party, and to other wonderful places. Soon it will be Christmas Day, and the contract/promise will be over. Just as her heart is feeling mended again, will they need to separate?

Very good

This book was very good, really enjoyed it. Had some romance in it and mystery. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good clean book.

good story,but predictable

I love Evan's books, however; they are becoming more and more predictable. I felt like I knew what the outcome was before in the first chapters of the book. This story was interesting but I thought the husband's part lacked substance. If you're a fan of Evan's books I would recommend it, as his stories always have that happy ending.

I Devoured this Book

I think I have read every adult book that this author has written, which goes back quite a few years to the release of the Christmas Box. This story was so intriguing that the only reason I quit reading was that I had to go to work. Painful pasts, need for forgiveness, and desire for love are the main themes. Keep writing Mr. Evans and I'll keep reading!

Quick Joyful Christmas Read

Decided to read the book before I watched the movie tonight on Hallmark. It's only 250+ pages. Read it in a couple of hours. I was not disappointed. Very quick read and just the uplifting Christmas read I was hoping for. It's all about love, forgiveness, hope, and redemption. Hope the movie does it justice.

Distrubing

I initially loved this book, until Elsie's secret was revealed. I had no sympathy for Else after reading what she had done. I found it to be disturbing. The book is well written and would have given 5 stars except for Else's secret and not sure that the author should try to make the reader feel sorry for anyone so irresponsible as Elsie.

Amazing book!

This was definitely a “hard to put down” book. I have loved reading many books written by Richard Paul Evans. (I’ve read at least 5) definitely would recommend to a friend. Although, I wouldn’t recommend the movie made by hallmark, it doesn’t even compare.

Not for me

While the writing is excellent writing, I put the book down when I found out the heroine's secret. I liked her up until that point. I have not seen the movie but people I talked with said that part was not included in the movie.

A wonderful Christmas story

I read this novel in one sitting. A story of two "good" persons that made tragic mistakes that changed their entire lives. It depicts well what the scrutiny of the public and non-forgiveness does to people. It also warmly depicts a friendship that grows into romance and the true meaning of respect and forgiveness. A wonderful Christmas story.

Good entertainment!

Love love love this series. I like to read read them around Christmas every year. A sweet read.

The most amazing book that I've read all year!!!

I love all of Richard Paul Evans books. This one is right up there with "The Walk" series , which I never thought he could top. The characters are so relatable and some of the subject matter is right out of the headlines. I read this in one sitting and miss Elise and Nicholas already. Thank you Mr Evans for another wonderful novel!

Swoon worthy

This book was truly swoon worthy. A smoking hot guy approaches her in the food court asking her to be his fake girlfriend for the holidays. A bit of this story seemed kind of unrealistic, but it was still a book that was a quick heart warming read and left me hoping to find a guy like the male lead of this book.

Not the same story as the Hallmark movie

Saw the Hallmark movie and figured the book would be better (they usually are. ) There are some major plot differences, the book is well written but not the warm & fuzzy holiday story I was expecting. Good book, but no Hallmark movie.

R.P.Evans will be your new favorite writer, too!

Richard Paul Evans is my favorite writer and The Mistletoe Promise didn't disappoint! He is the master of love stories. What starts as an intriguing suggestion, develops into a deep relationship with an unusual twist. You will love it. And when you are finished, be sure to read "The Walk" series. It's fabulous!

Couldn't put it down.

Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Thankfully, it was a quick, easy read. This is a sweet story about love, the holiday season, and finding peace in your life after the storms of adversity. Once again, RPE has made me feel almost every emotion during the course of a single book. Worth staying awake until 2:30 for.

Uplifiting Christmas Story

Two lonely people meet in a food court at the building where they both work. They agree to sign a contract to be a couple for the holidays until midnight Christmas Eve. Both have dark secrets from the past. which kept them in their solitary worlds until this Christmas season. The plot has many surprises and keep me reading until the end.

Another Christmas Adventure

Richard Paul Evans' books are what some would call syrupy and surprising when you consider they are written by a male, but I love them. While they could never be my steady diet, they always seem to hold me to the end, even when I know the outcome. They're super fast reads and just a break from my normal reading fare.

Perfect Gift

I got this as a gift for someone who had the third book. I wanted her to have the whole set. This was amazing we love buying used books. Great for the earth. The selection of old or new was cool.

Another 5 Star Book

I read this book in about 3 days because I just couldn't put it down. I love ALL of Richard Paul Evans' books! This one is clean, like all of them, and has a wonderful storyline without being predictable. I definitely will read book two in the series and I understand that a third one is in the making.

A MAGNIFICENT STORY

I have read hundreds of novels and scores by Richard Paul Evans, this is one of the best stories I have ever read! The Christlike love and forgiveness is magnificent. I can relate, somewhat, to the Heroine's early years. What an exquisite experience she was given, through the Lord. I can wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a wholesome, unique, love story.

The Mistletoe Promise

Richard Paul Evans never, ever disappoints! By far, he is at the top of my list of favorite authors. And what a great story of love and forgiveness. And of course, the real story about both Elise and Nick was a big surprise she finally revealed. A wonderful holiday story and a MUST read! Wish I could give it a ten!

Unusual plot ... great storyline

Loved this book. Such an unusual plot ... very unique. I've never read a storyline such as this one. Left me wanting to know more about them. When a book does that to me, I know it's a good one. Two broken people finding love healing each other. Great read. Highly recommend this book and will likely re-read it.

Not like the movie

Loved the book BUT if you are reading this book because you saw the movie, beware. The book is much darker than the movie. There is nothing deep or profound. Just a nice read that kept me interested. I liked the characters and found the story line interesting. I would read his work again.

Please read this book! Wonderful!!!

Oh my Goodness. Did I ever love this book! I could not put it down and ordered it for friends of mine and some of my female cousins. It is a wonderful story of forgiveness and redemption and most importantly of being able to learn to forgive ourselves! I strongly recommend this book! Happy ending!

Bookworm

Another Richard Paul Evans book I couldn't put down. Sorry to say everything I had scheduled this day didn't get accomplished because I couldn't put this book down. To many interruptions for me to finish in a couple of hours. The story of Elise and Nick was so touching. Many lives will be touched by their story.

Love, Love

Love, Love,Love, Richard Paul Evans books..Look forward to each coming out yearly..He is just the best to me and I have never been disappointed in any of his books and I've bought them all..and even a set to each of my daughters and a friend..Everyone should read Evans..

RPE does it again.

As usual. RPE does it again. Not all is revealed until you read. Love that he left unopened treasures to find on the adventure of this book. Bought two extra books after I finished to share with friends. Considered buying more but haven't done so yet. A great Christmas time story or any other time of year.

Touches the heart

Well written story of heart breaking pain and finally living again. We all deal with life heart breaks our own way, but when someone else has been thru the same pain you felt, well maybe your not so alone after all. Make sure you have tissue, plenty...

This is his best book ever.

I have read all of Richard Paul Evan's books and have enjoyed most of them. The Mistletoe Promise is by far and away his best. I simply could not put it down. I do not give away the contents of books so I can only say that if you believe in forgiveness and grace...read this book. I simply loved it.

Best Yet!!!!

I have been waiting quite awhile for a new Christmas book from Richard Paul Evans! This was his best yet!!! I buy his Christmas stories in hardcover just so that I can keep them and reread them. I have a kindle, but these books just need to be kept and cherished. Read this one, you won't be sorry!

Sweet Christmas story

I read this in a day and it was a great Christmas story. I'm sure many will say it was cheesy, and in reality it was, but it's a love story that I really enjoyed. I enjoyed living vicariously through Elise as she got to be Cinderella and pretty woman. Ill be watching the Hallmark movie soon! 😉

Another good Evans story

I have read all of Richard Paul Evans' books and have enjoyed them all. No sex; no foul language; always a good message. The Mistletoe Promise is no different. It is a good and fast read; mayabe not his best, but still a good book to give friends and family as a Christmas gift.

Redemption and True Love

A magnificent story of true love and redemption, The Mistletoe Promise delivers all the goods. A woman who has made a horrible mistake finds her soulmate when she agrees to a legal contract of companionship. What begins as a mysterious relationship, full of uncertainity, becomes a dream relationship full of promise. Though this story is best suited to female readers, it has an aspect to the plot all men can understand.

A new approach to pre-marital counseling.

The way the contract was worked out not only was the first time I'd ever read anything like that, it was very intriguing. I started rooting for them as a couple long before it happened. I have just about all RPE's books but because I had to move from my condo (1200 ft.) to a elder housing apt. (296 ft.), I have to give away most of my books due to space constraints. I can always take them out of the library when I want to read them again and I will keep seeking to buy his newest book.

Repeat buyer. Numerous times.

The Mistletoe Promise written by Richard Paul Evans is a wonderful, and heartwarming book that brought tears to my eyes at times, and a giggle or two also. I couldn't put it down, and I read it in two days! I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a love story, especially at Christmastime!!!

Mt first, but not the last book from Richard Evens.

My first book by Richard Evans and I think I'm hooked. Maybe my hints will pay off and I will receive other books by this author from Santa! This was a refreshing book to read a true "love story" that was not trashy and over explicate in sexual detail. A really nice Christmas story.

Breathtaking

I loved this book!! Read it in 24 hours. Mr. Evans is quite the romantic writer. I'm excited to read more of his books. The characters were superb.....they were damaged but very strong. In order to be loved and give love you have to learn to forgive. A beautiful love story!!

Would buy again

Love the book

The best book ever !

I did not expect anything less from Richard, but I have too say this is the best Christmas book he has written! He is a brilliant author and he inspires all of us with his work. This book was such a fantastic love story. I will not ruin it by saying what was my best part for I know I dislike it when people tell part of the story but if you want to relax and read a fantastic book for the Christmas holiday then this is the book. Thank you once again Richard for enlightening my life with your words.

The book was in perfect condition...

The book is in perfect condition-- I am very pleased and would order from this seller again, for sure.

Christmas love

Our book club trays to read one of Richard Paul Evans books each holiday season. This book.... The Mistletoe Promise left me feeling warm and fuzzy feelings and tears in my eyes. Happy that I have read yet another great book. Congratulations to the author.

As usual, another inspiring book.

Could not put it down, read it straight through. Teaches us that we never know the circumstances behind someone's mistake and we should be less critical and more supportive and forgiving. We never know what someone is going through until we have walked a mile in their shoes.

This is now one of my favorite books!

Wow! What a great book! It had a unique storyline, one that needed to be told! I read it because it is being made into a Hallmark movie and I wanted to read it first, so glad I did! Can't wait to see the movie and read more of his books!

Romance is still alive!

I'm not normally a reader of love story's, but read "The Mistletoe Promise" within 24 hours. It was a wonderful, romantic story. So nice to read a book that can leave a little to the imagination. I especially loved the part where Elise and Nicholas went to New York. One of my most favorites places in the world, felt like I was right there with Elise when she was touring around The City. Now I just might have to read "The Christmas Box".

during the holiday season I look for a good Christmas story read

during the holiday season I look for a good Christmas story read. This is the first book I have read by Richard Evans and I must say it was great! I will definitely read others he has written. The book gives you such a warm feeling and it leaves you wanting to know what goes on after the ending. Great book!

The Mistletoe Promise

When my sister recommended this book to me, I have to admit I was hesitant as I usually enjoy a good mystery. But, because she said I would really enjoy it, I began reading and continued until the end. Wonderful story to read at Christmas, sharing the act of forgiveness.. 5 stars

Sure loved reading this great Christmas story

Sure loved reading this great Christmas story. Truly couldn't put it down. What a wonderful story. How two people met up and their troubled lives were inter-twined and in the end they found life together. Sure was a different approach to finding a lonesome time.

this is the very best book.

this is the very best book...it starts out so innocently..and then comes the mistletoe promise..i read it twice..and almost cried at the end when he revealed his darkness..I've read it twice if I read it again I will start quoting from the book..always/pegsmouse1

It's important to know you're ordering

I love the book but thought I was ordering the DVD. That was what I really wanted.

A Holiday Love Story

It was a light quick holiday read. As a love story, I wouldn't put it up there with " Wuthering Heights," but, it was a page turner. At this time of the year, it's nice to read a book with a happy ending; perfect for The Hallmark Channel if they decide to turn it into a movie.

Promises

The book made feel good, forgiveness is powerful, I chose the rating because the book was good romantic story with underlying problems people go through, this book will recommended to my friends and family because will all need forgiveness, thank you.

Am Excellent Christmas Story

I loved this book. The characters are easy to relate to. The story contains sadness as well as joy. It does have a happy ending which was perfect

This book is great!

I was so waiting for his new Christmas book. This is much different then any of his other Christmas book. I really couldn't put it down once I got it. It has been one of my favorite books this year. I have always enjoyed his writing but the Christmas ones are my favorite!

i love all of Richard Paul Evans' books and this one ...

i love all of Richard Paul Evans' books and this one was no exception although it was different. I think a message in his story was that although sometimes we do harmful and hurtful things that we don't mean to do this is still hope in the promise for happiness.

a nice story

This book is one of those you think you know the ending as soon as you meet the characters, and you are right. However, that being said it was a nice book to read on a night alone. The two main characters Elise and Nicholas have a kind of fairy tale love story, with lots of wealth and gifts and dress up evenings. Perhaps the best thing about the story is it gives us an opportunity to love without judgement. Both of these characters are carrying a secret that haunts them, and we are given an opportunity to forgive them and to ask ourselves "could that have ever been me?" I liked the book and enjoyed it, in spite of its simplicity.

Another wonderful Christmas from Richard🎄🎄

I look forward to Christmas time when I can read another wonderful book written by Richard. This one is no exception. I loved every minute of it. I recommend it to anyone who loves reading a touching Christmas story🎄🎄☃️☃️

Cautious togetherness

This book has an unusual mechanism drawing two people together in an emotional way, and the process puts them both to the path of mending their personal tragedies. The writing is very good and the characters become your concern. I enjoyed it and recommend it.

Richard Paul Evans knows how to write a great story. Very touchy

Richard Paul Evans knows how to write a great story. Very touchy. One book I could hardly put down. Must read for the holidays or anytime really. If you haven't read his WALK series be sure to give it a try. I have read all of them and they have left a lasting impression on me. So needless to say I would highly recommend this book.

I loved this book

I loved this book. It was an easy read fast moving. I passed it to my friends to read. I love all of Richard Paul Evans books. I only wish he could write them more frequently. I read them as soon as they come out in print. Keep up the good work Richard.

Quick read

I read this book in one sitting, once I started could not stop. Good story of forgiveness and love. However that being said I was trying to guess what was in each characters past and nothing prepared me for what the secrets really were. Not judging, just saying.

I loved it, the story gives us up and downs ...

I loved it, the story gives us up and downs but flows steady and is such a delightful read.. I highly recommend it... anyone who reads Richard Paul Evans knows he is a fantastic author, and this book shows he never lets his readers down...

My favorite yet!

I eagerly anticipate each new arrival of Richard's novels, signing up for auto-delivery on Kindle. This has been my favorite Christmas story this far. I can't wait to buy a hard copy to give as a gift for a co-worker whom I believe will be blessed and encouraged by its message. Thanks to Richard who expands my borders, explicitly describing the world around me.

I love all of Mr

I love all of Mr. Evans' books. He is a great story teller. I was surprised by the fact that Nicholas knew all about Elise's background before he approached her, but I think the proposal he made was quite unique, and it brought her out of the shell and let her fall in love again.

I started reading this book and its hard to put down. An excellent book by Richard Paul Evans and it comes highly recommended. I purchase every book he's written and will continue to do so. It took me only 3 days to read it b/c it was so great!!!

A light and easy read and especially entertaining for the holidays

The Mistletoe Promise is an enjoyable read. Although it's a bit of a stretch to think this would happen in real life, it all comes together at the end of the story. A light and easy read and especially entertaining for the holidays.

AWESOME!

What a story! What a writer! They need to make a movie from this book! Wow! I love to read Richard Paul Evans' books at Christmas time! This one is about love and redemption. You won't be able to put it down - especially toward the end!

uplifting Christmas story

I loved the Mistletoe contract. It was a clever way to weave the story. Mr. Evans descriptions are so good that you know how everyone and everyplace looks. It was a great Christmas, feel good story. I loved some of his other books and this one did not disappoint .

Great as usual.

I have been a fan of RIchard Paul Evans books since I first heard about him on a Glen Beck program. As a retired police officer I have seen many people in situations such as the ones Mr. Evans writes about. I think I have read almost every book he has written. I look forward to his Christmas stories each year.

Amazing

I read this book in one day. Not the whole day either. This is a wonderful story that teaches good lessons and gives hope. I don't know how I missed Mr. Evans' books because now I am really hooked.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL

Just when you think he cannot write a better story, he does. This is a story of love, loss, tragedy. It is a story of hope after desperation . Is a story of God granting us the ability to rebuild our lives after we think they are destroyed forever.

Their contract becomes a promise

This story captured my heart. Despite the problems, two people learn to trust again. They had to learn forgiveness. When they accepted their life and found love , the world became their oysters.

Such a great book! It's a quick and very enjoyable book ...

Wow! Such a great book! It's a quick and very enjoyable book with so much emotion. Hallmark made this into a movie which was cute but the book is so much better and has a lot more good stuff in it!

Loved every second!

This is a very riveting read! It kept me turning pages! I saw the movie this Christmas and decided to read the book! The book is very different from the movie, however, both are amazing!!

Holiday

Live the book even more than the Hallmark movie Wish it was on DVD

read it in two nights, couldn't put it down. two lost souls helping each other to feel true love and joy once again. old story s

An old story told again in a most meaningful way. 2 lost souls, two tragedies , bring together two hearts, that once again find true love and everlasting happiness. I would recommend it to everyone. Good holiday reading about finding forgiveness from within, the hardest to believe will ever come. Love every word, there was nothing I didn't like about the book. Top notch, 5 Star rating

You will "love" this story.

I chose this rating because Richard Paul Evans has, once again, written a book that captivates the reader. What a wonderful love story, portraying hope and new love, New beginnings and wonderful endings. What a delightful "Christmas" story!

Heartwarming Story!

The Mistletoe Promise was a very good book.Richard Paul Evans is a wonderful writer. I've read most of his books and there hasn't been one that I didn't enjoy. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a book for the holiday season.

Good story

Good story. I like the premise of two people joining forces to get through the holiday season. At times I needed a hanky but it is so heartwarming it is going on my keeper self. So well done.

A great story of redemption.

This book was a very good read. I captured me right away. While it was a little too good to be true at times the overall message was meaningful. I really couldn't quit reading. Another great book from a great author.

A clever Twist

I always expect to like RPE's books, this is not in the style of the Walk, but a lovely story with the reality of life! I read it in two goes, and I know that like in all his stories, they stay with me and I think about them after! This one is no exception !

Richard Paul Evans is known for tugging holiday heartstrings

Christmas novels are a specialty with this author to where his name is automatically associated with the category, and with good reason. Everyone enjoys reading this latest entry into relationships enhanced by the holidays.

Richard Paul Evans is one of my favorite authors and in The Mistletoe Promise he again presents a story that is both heartwarming and engaging. Perfect addition to the holiday season, or, for that matter, any time of the year.

I wish I was better with words to describe his writing

This was the first book by Richard Paul Evans that I have read. Deals with serious events with insight and compassion. I wish I was better with words to describe his writing. I enjoyed it so much I'm reading more of his books.

A delightful story to read and learn about forgiveness. It was a fast and easy read and it warmed by heart and gave me peace while I was reading it. It was a good chance to relax and forget about all the hectic life around me.

A Story of hope and forgiveness

I just finished ready the newest Christmas novel by Richard Paul Evans and it was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and had trouble putting in down. Don't miss this beautiful story. I'm sure I will read it again and again.

Love Richard's books

I really like Richard's books because he makes you feel like it could be you. His characters have life. I love that there is no profanity and purposeful messages throughout.

Compelling and definitely worth the time.

I don't often write reviews for books (or anything on Amazon really) but this book was amazing. In particular I found the plot emotionlly compelling. Definitely kept me guessing. I'd seen the hallmark movie based very loosely on this novel, the novel is better. Definitely worth purchasing.

A wonderful Read

A story we would all like to be part of...until we learn of some of the harder times...and then in the end we'd still like to be part of it. A beautiful story of hope and redemption.

loved it

i really loved tbis book , a little different than the movie but loved it

Read this author!!

This is not my kind of reading. but my wife loves this author.

GREAT Christmas romance

Love it! Great Christmas story with believable characters having interesting pasts. Well worth the read, the money, and the time. If you like a good romance with characters you hate to say goodbye to, then you need this book.

Wonderful love story

I loved this story, great beginning and keep me interested through out. Loved the ending. Very enjoyable story and now I want to watch the movie again.

Wonderful story with a profound message

I couldn't stop reading...went from start to finish in about two hours and enjoyed every minute. incredibly, the story seemed to have found me at a time when I really needed the message it carries. I am very grateful.

Another great book!

Richard Paul Evans is my favorite author and wrote another book to tug at your heart. He always sends us a message to think about. His books are always fast reads as you can't put them down once you start reading them.

Surprisingly good . It actually had some depth to it. I forgot just how good the author is. It has been awhile since I had read anything by him. I was not disappointed. A very good book.

A Great Christmas Story

As with all R. P. Evans' books... a wonderful story about hope, love and redemption. The characters will capture you right from the first page. I read it in one sitting.. I just had to see how it would turn out.

Always love Richard’s books!

Always love Richard’s books!

This is a wonderful book on forgiveness, and accepting forgiveness. Very well written love this author. Would recommend for anyone.

Wonderful Book!

I could hardly put this book down. It grips you from the first page. A beautiful story of two lost souls with devastating secrets and how they found love and forgiveness. Richard Paul Evans has done it again.

books

Most of these books I purchased are for a friend she love to read books from these authors.

Sobbing right now ......

I just finished the book and I am crying and deeply touched by the story. I want my daughters to read it. The story will stay with me for a long time .....very sweet in so many ways . Thank you ,Cindie O.

Very clever and fun!

Very clever and fun! I found myself smiling through the whole book! Any book that makes you smile and that you are unable to put down is excellent. My first book from this author, but definitely not my last!

Good Read

A fun, witty book that kept us intrigued the entire time. It's the 1st book my fiancé & I read together the whole way through, which is really saying something because most books won't hold his attention for too long. I would highly recommend, especially around the holidays. 😊

Can you believe in love?

I really think I have been affected by the writings of Mr.Evans. I can't sleep and I have to make myself stop reading, put the book down and get up and do something. I wasn't much of a reader until I retired a couple of years ago, now I'm addicted.

Another Light and Uplifting Christmas Story

Another light, but uplifting Christmas story from Richard Paul Evans. An interesting premise. Reasonable character development. Another story set in Salt Lake CIty.

Great story.

Richard Paul Evans never misses. His books all have a special message. He always leaves you more enriched spiritually than before you read the book. This book was not as realistic as some of his others but it was nice to escape and feel God's love through out.

The Mistletoe Promise

I have always enjoyed Richard Paul Evans books and this was one of his best. The story was very enriching and touched me to my heart. I will continue to read his books as long as he continues to write them!

Great read for redemption and hope!

One of his best! Everyone has regrets in life, and needs someone to understand and love them anyway. Don’t you?

Great Read

I enjoyed the fantasy of someone giving for the pure joy of giving. But the deeper truth of forgiving oneself is the best gift of all. Easy read, surprising twist, kept me interested all the way through.

A wonderful book!

Often I read a fun predictable love story. This story was so much more and I'm happy I read it. It was hard to put down as I wanted to know the ending but I didn't want it to end! Have fun and enjoy reading it!

wonderful read!

It was not what I had expected: I was expecting a light Christmas romance, but was wonderfully surprised at the depth of this book. I should have known better because it is a Richard Paul Evans! I loved it!

Good story, but over priced

The story is 5 star worthy, but, this is a rather short story. I read the book in one afternoon. For the price I expected a much longer read, hence the 3 stars. It was not worth the price.

Good story-telling by Richard Evans

Typical good story telling by Richard. He spins his Christmas related story this time around a female character, one who has had some bumps and bruises in life, along with a male that has much of the same.

Although this book is a love story, it's mostly about forgiving yourself

Although this book is a love story, it's mostly about forgiving yourself. I read it because I saw the movie. Both were good but the book has more substance.

Book Okay, but Hallmark movie better.

It was a good read and I enjoyed it, but was a little dark. I thought the Hallmark movie was much better. I left much of the dark elements out.

Awesome read!

I can’t say enough about any Richard Paul Evans book! And this one is no exception! He’s a great story teller!

I love this book!

I loved this story and hoped it would end the way it ended. Lately, Richard Paul Evans is the only author whose books I care to read. I just love every one of his books! Please keep on writing, Brother Evans! I am a huge fan!

A perfect beautiful story

This book captures you right away. A quick read as you will not want to put the book down as your curiosity keeps moving to the next page. I love the author Richard Paul Evans, he is a wonderful writer and always keeps me wondering what is next in his chapters!

Etherial

As usual, Richard spins a love story that inspires us to love ourselves and have faith in God that someone else will love us as well. Delightful story despite the early tragedies in their young lives.

So much better than the movie!

The movie was ok, but the book is SO much better! Could hardly put it down. It is a thoughtful story and also very suspenseful. Definitely NOT predictable!

Kindred Souls

Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Was very happy that Richard Evans had written another book. The story is not real deep, but it is poignant and makes you happy reading it. Would definitely recommend it.

The book itself is a must read. The cover ...

The book itself is a must read. The cover invites you into the book. As you read it you will be pleasantly surprised. Thank-you.

Too Unrealistic

I am an avid reader of Richard Paul Evans' books. This is not one of my favorites. This story is too fairytale-ish, too "way-out-there". A rich, GQ handsome, articulate, well dressed lawyer never bringing a date to any event he's been invited to; who feels the need to enter into a contract with a woman to be his date to holiday parties and events; and who is almost apologetic for showering her with wildly expensive gifts; and she, trying to decide if she'll go with him to New York during the Christmas season, all expenses paid...is too off-the-charts. Come on Richard Paul Evans. Is this the best you can do?

Contracts

Wonderfully written. Enjoyed the sweetness of the gifts and how simply caring can change even the image we hold of ourselves. Loved the premise of forgiveness.

I LOVE THE MISTLETOE PROMISE

THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ. IT MADE ME LAUGH AT TIMES AND CRY AT OTHER TIMES.MR EVANS IS ONE OF THE BEST AUTHORS IN THE WORLD. I PRAY HE KEEPS WRITING THESE WONDERFUL BOOKS

Wonderful Love Story

It was difficult to put this book down. The reading was easy but compelling. As usual, Richard Paul Evans has written another winner. You need to read this book to enhance your Christmas season!

Great read

Wonderful story about two individuals reconnecting with their self worth after suffering terrible losses from accidents. Heartwarming with honest emotions.

Loved this book!!!

It's a very well written, bittersweet story of the power of redemption through love and forgiveness. Loved the characters of Elise and Nick. A beautiful story that I would highly recommend.

Differet Plot Line

This story had a somewhat different plot line. However, a sweet Christmas story was based on past tragedies in the lives of the main characters which was a downer for me.

Magical Story!

I loved this book and couldn't put it down. I loved everything about it. It was a very enjoyable book with a magical storyline. Highly recommended!

It was a great quick read with no thought necessary

The Mistletoe Promise was our December book club pick. It was a great quick read with no thought necessary. Such a sweet story to read during the Christmas season. I sat down and read this in just two days.

Great Christmas Story

A very sweet story of two flawed people who sign an agreement (contract) to date each other during the Christmas season. Much better than the Hallmark movie.

Spirit of Christmas

Me. Evans portrays such wonderful characters and plots that reflect the true spirit of Christmas- should be an annual event to get one in the spirit.

Deeply moving

This is the kind of story that makes you look into the heart. I've greatly enjoyed this book. It reminds me, that there is so much more to every person, than what we see at first glance.

wonderful story

I loved how the book made me smile. Enduring hardships can bring happiness. The turn of events were heart wrenching. The relationship proved to be so intriguing the book was hard to put down.

hard to put down

I shared the emotional ups and downs of Elise and found it hard to leave the book when other responsibilities required me to do so. I look forward to reading other books by this author

Highly recommend !!!!

Read it in one day! Loved it! Sentimental, humorous, uplifting. Perhaps a little predictable overall, but still had several surprises. I will be recommending and gifting this book for sure!!

An incredibly Sweet Book
