First page I read said something about a stoner sloth. Not a book I can give to my daughter

Not what I expected. Several references of smoking pot, getting high, 420, etc. Of course it’s not advertised within the book’s description. Keep this in mind if it’s to be given as a gift. I work with teens and thought this might be a nice down time read for them. Looks like a cute book right?? It is not appropriate for relaxation/mindfulness/self help, especially for teens with substance abuse issues. I’m wanting to return the two I ordered. Take out the drug advocacy parts and it could be a nice light read.

I bought this book simply because it was cute and seemed like a good gift for a dear friend. I ended up buying one for myself because its so great! Its super easy to read, not long or complicated, but still teaches valuable lessons and inspires the reader to be more mindful. I thought the author did a great job writing in a fun and modern way but still delivering on an important message. I recommend it to all teenagers and adults! great gift!

We were both surprised to see that it not only was a sweet and funny book, but a book that contained actual awesome tips for relaxing and living stress free. Awesome book and at a great price!

My daughter got this for her friend and it look like it got ran over by a car! The front cover was hanging off and pages inside where all folded an torn. Disappointed to say the least.

My grandson (age 26) has had the sloth as his animal friend for many years. I found this book and gave it to him for his birthday.

I love sloths, Taoism and Dudeism. This book has a lot in common with both Taoism and Dudeism and is an easy and enjoyable read. I would recommend it to anyone who is overly stressed or overwhelmed by life.

Thought I'd take a few days to read this. Finished it in an hour. Such a simple read and profoundly helpful. I gifted a copy to a co-worker who was struggling with stress management issues. Really helped her out.

The only reason I’m giving this book a 1 star is strictly because it is for adults only!! I purchased it for an 11 year old and omg it is highly inappropriate!! Please rate this book as for adults only! I found it next to a child’s journal!

Book came dirty. Pulled it out from packaging and black crumbles fell out. Opened front cover and more black grit fell out. Cover is messed up.

This book is super cute, but it is NOT kid appropriate. I ordered it as a birthday present for a 9 year old and thank God I flipped through it! Hahaha, just a fair warning to those ordering it! Apparently female sloths scream when they’re ready to mate, among other gems I found that would’ve made it difficult for my daughter to continue having play dates with her friend.

My 11-year is really into sloths, so I thought this would be cute. Maybe I missed the details, but when I got it had to return it: it has a section on the sloth philosophy applied to sex. Not quite right for kids!

This is an easy read with sound wisdom. Slow down. Life is too short not to appreciate every moment, every lesson.

I would have given 5 stars, but I was taken aback by the occasional naughty word. I did truly enjoy the format of the book with its sloth facts, famous quotes, and ordinary life situations that can be elevated by changing expected mentality to practical mentality. Delightful and inspiring!

I never expected to come across this sweet little book when I did a search via my library system for books about the Hygge lifestyle. If you are new to the term Hygge it is pronounced Hooga. You’d think they could just spell it that way to make it easier to remember! Ha! Hygge is described as an ambiance as much as a state of mind based on Danish culture and design. Think chilly winter evening, candles lit, snuggled under a fuzzy blanket, with a good book or magazine, a cup of tea, or wine. Add to that perhaps some tranquil music. Or perhaps it’s a snowstorm raging outside your front door and you are snuggled in with your loved one playing a board game. There are many ways in which to accomplish Hygge! But then again, it’s not about accomplishing, but rather about being in the moment, relaxing, letting your cares melt away, and enjoying the simple pleasures of home. So what’s a sloth got to do with it? Well as I did my search for books on Hygge in anticipation of winter just around the corner here in Wisconsin, this title popped up in the list of books on this subject. Of course, it caught my eye because of my love for animals. But also because Sloth came up recently in an animal wisdom reading I did for myself, and also a general reading I did for my followers. Sloth really does embody what I believe is one of the key messages for what 2020 has been all about. S-L-O-W down. Disconnect (from social media) more often. Be in the moment. Connect with nature. Hug a tree. Don’t rush. Rest. And repeat, repeat, repeat. Author Jennifer McCarney of The Little Book of Sloth Philosophy has a delightful sense of humor also which pairs nicely with a creature who in the past wouldn’t have been viewed as cute and cuddly – though I do think that has definitely been changing. The illustrations in the book of sloth meditating, counting the stars, and hugging a tree – just to name a few – will most definitely make you smile and love Sloth even more. My favorite chapter title is “Sleep in, take a nap, and then go to bed early.” Did you know that Sloths sleep up to 18 hours a day? I think I’m part sloth. Well, that is, I need lots of sleep. Perhaps not 18 hours, but I do go to bed by 8:30 pm, am up by 6:00 or 6:30 am, and more often than not take a nap during the day. I sometimes give myself a hard time about that because I don’t feel normal in the sense so many can do with much less sleep than I can. But then the next chapter is titled, “Or stay up late and embrace the night.” In other words, as Jennifer so brilliantly shares, “The sloth philosophy is about getting enough sleep whenever and wherever you want. The fact is, just like the sloths, some of us are programmed to stay up late and sleep in thanks to differences in our chronobiology – the natural internal clock that dictates when we sleep and wake.” This alone makes me want to run out, find a sloth, and give it a big hug! This pocket-sized book is packed full of ways in which you can embody the wisdom of Sloth and incorporate more simple pleasures into your life, learn to slow down and be okay with it (despite what the outside world may try to convince you otherwise), and why I now see why this book definitely falls into the Hygge lifestyle category. Sloth is a master teacher of Hygge! I love the Hygge lifestyle and now I love Sloth even more than before.

I really enjoyed this cute book. i received it as a gift from my daughter. It shares ideas "to live your best sloth life." Sloths have a lot to teach us about how to spend our lives. Sloths have much to show us: they teach us to slow down, be more mindful, resist pressures put on us by society, be more productive, and to do things we love. This is written in a way that is easy to read and has the cutest illustrations.

Showed up with glue all over the back jacket, got most of it off...Should have taken a picture before I started cleaning it but forgot. Has some small wrinkles and dents in the jacket as well. I would not feel good giving this as a gift which is what I ordered it for so that is disappointing and I will be buying a different gift. Havent read it yet. will update when I do. It looks cute.

I bought this book for a friend. She has a medical condition that uses sloths as their symbol. Shes always been super energetic and always on the go. Since getting sick shes struggled with her life style having to slow down. This book helped her accept a new lifestyle approach. It definitely brought a little spark back to my friend ❤ Btw she also loves this book. She says its one of the greatest things shes read.

Do not be seduced by the sloth pictures; there are many more words than pictures. I was disappointed by this, and I think the book is being sold on these cute pictures. But the text is so bad I had to go and check it was not excerpted from an eleven-year-old child's journal. It is cringe-making and the banal drivel you see in magazines of waffle and nonsense. Ideas like leaving your phone at home, just breathe, seek quiet places and don't let haters get you down

This is one little book, I would recommend to all students and employees. Especially in the IT Industry. We are constantly running in circles.
