THE KILLER TALKS OR A BOY DIES ...

Most serial killers are loser loners.

...................This one's a rich guy with lawyers on speed dial.

Most cops stick to rules and procedures.

...................This one's a master gamesman, and the rules are his bitch.

“SO WHO GOT DEAD?”

Twee asked, taking a pastry. Merisi pulled the plate closer to himself.

“Three little boys," Hunter told them. "The fourth went missing this morning. If this killer’s M.O. hasn’t changed, the boy’s not dead yet.”

“You’re talking about the Wilderness Killer?” Diane Natani asked. “That’s McCauley’s case. How's our unit getting it?”

“McCauley and his team haven’t gotten anywhere in a year. The victim is the governor’s nephew, the governor requested us, we’re taking over.”

“Well, that shouldn’t cause any resentment.” Merisi dunked half a doughnut into his coffee.

“It’s a recipe for a clusterfuck, Boss,” Twee said.

"True. It’s also exactly the kind of case this Unit was created to handle."

Assistant District Attorney Natani tossed down her pen. “We have political interference, departmental incompetence, personal resentment, and a boy who will die within eight hours. Somewhere.”

"No problem," Merisi told her. "All we do figure out who the killer is and get him to tell us where—in over a thousand square miles of Colorado wilderness—he staked out the governor’s nephew.”

Detective Lieutenant Hunter Dane ignored Merisi's eyeroll. “The first part got done about an hour ago.”

Natani perked up. “We have a suspect?”

Hunt nodded. "We do. We pick him up, and I just get him to talk.”

“Just get him to talk?” Merisi tilted his chair back. “He’ll lawyer up before you can say ‘You have the right’ and a keyhole satellite couldn’t find this kid.”

“You're forgetting the Boss’s cardinal rule.” Twee pulled the plate back toward herself and Merisi’s chair came down with a sharp bang.

“Yeah? What's that?"

Never assume.

If you like a master gamesman for a detective and a few twists in your criminal cocktail, you want to read this. (Plus, there's a dog.)

Hunt and Cam are trying to save a little boy who's 8, and has been kidnapped.

I received an ARC of The Interrogation, and also bought the ebook. This is my honest opinion of the book. It's amazing, and I loved it. Hunt and Cam are trying to save a little boy who's 8, and has been kidnapped. In the meanwhile Hunt and Cam can't even sneak in a good kiss, there's too much going on. Their relationship is still hotter than blue blazes, but is off the pages and left to your imagination. This is different from the other books with no erotica at all. You don't need it. I promise you all the feels of Hunt and Cam's all-encompassing love for each other. It grabs you and won't turn loose. The storyline is taut with tension ratcheting up as events unfold. I'm doing my best to not give up any spoilers. Interrogation is a good thriller I read in one sitting. This is another hit book for Adira August. I can't wait for the next one.

A fantastic spin-off series filled with suspense and excitement

4.5 stars “The Interrogation: A Hunter Dane Investigation” by Adira August is a delicious and suspenseful thriller that features a charismatic team that investigates high-profile cases. A serial killer of young boys has taken his latest victim, and Dane, Cam, and the rest of The Unit, must race time and the elements to find him in time. I adore these two men and the dedicated and intense folks they work with. The synergy that flows from them is inspiring, and the way they responded to the challenge of finding a kidnapped child was mesmerizing. The action starts with the very first line and tension ramps up throughout the story until it reaches the breathtaking climax. Each of the folks in this story has a particular strength to bring to the table, and I am in awe at the way those talents were woven into an indomitable team. I’d love to know these folks in real life, and this author continues to impress with her tales that are guaranteed to grab your attention and make you bite your nails as you root for them to be successful, and sigh at the connection and mutual respect they demonstrate. Despite the lack of sexy times that are pervasive in the main series that this spins off from, this is just as compelling a story, and who can resist the dog with his own intense work ethic? I am delighted that there is a new series featuring these guys and their colleagues, and I look forward to reading about more of their exciting adventures. Suspense, a twist, and numerous treats for Hunt & Cam fans

Read this in one sitting, but took two breaks to breathe, get my heart rate back to normal, and to tweet the author things like "holy moly" 😀. This book pulled me in from the first sentence and was a wonderful rollercoaster ride. I love the author's series featuring the relationship of Hunter and Cam. Those books had a strong secondary police procedural plot. This book is the reverse (although it takes place before the last H&C book) and, as much as I love the erotic sexuality of the MCs, I enjoyed this story just as much without any on-page sex. (Note to author: if you read this, this doesn't mean I'd not jump at more steamy books for these two!😉😍🔥🔥🔥) The secondary characters will be familiar to fans and add depth and detail to the story. I want to read more about Garza and maybe he'll get a book of his own

Superb!

I so wish I could give more than 5 stars, this book was amazing! Hunt and Cam are back and trying to save the life of an eight year old boy. The story is so compelling I just could not put it down. I read it in one sitting. These men have such love for one another and helping those in need it's wonderful to see. Adira August has created such a great story!

Great Dane, without the sexy times

While I always enjoy the intimate moments between Hunter and Cam in their regular series, I am a bigger fan of the mysteries and policing that accompany them. This book skips the bedroom in favor of the investigation, and it worked well for me. All the nerdy and technical stuff was on full display, as were members of the Unit and other law enforcement personnel. Hunter took lead, Cam assisted admirably, and there was some quiet time between the two at the end. Plus Twee being Twee. Kudos to the author; I hope this is just the first of many of these investigations.

Intense!!!!!

What a great read!! I started this book, early in the evening, thinking I’d read a bit, then do some other things. Didn’t happen. This one grabbed me, & didn’t let go until the story was done. I never bite my nails, but almost started. I felt everything the good guys felt, & cried at the climax. I think I want to adopt both Cam & Hunter! The story was fast paced, never letting up, the suspense & tension, ramped way up, the portrayal of the main characters, & even the secondary ones, vivid & real. I highly recommend this book, but suggest you only start it when you are able to read it thru...you won’t want to put it down. Well told, Adira August!!!

Sublime thriller

Another stellar addition to Ms. August’s list of books not to be missed. I couldn’t wait to read this book, but now I’m sad because I finished it an there won’t be another one for awhile. That being said I absolutely loved the complex plot with plenty of twists and turns to keep me thoroughly engaged. As usual Hunt and Cam are together but without any on page sex which, although I love their D/s dynamic, was not needed for the story nor did I miss it. Their commitment and love for one another is still as strong as ever. I was happy to have the rest of the special unit back together as well as several excellent additional characters. I can’t wait for more of the Hunter Dane Investigations.

So good

I was concerned about how I’d like this installment of Cam and Hunter without the smut that I’m used to. No need to worry. I was enthralled with the suspense right away and could hardly put it down. During the last quarter of the book I was ignoring everything around me so I could find out what would happen next. Love it.

The Interrogation

I have read and loved all the books about Cam and Hunt. This spinoff series is a bit different as the focus is specifically on the murder mystery. As much as I love the love story you just can’t beat a well written mystery. This one was interesting in that we met the perp fairly early in the book so we got a close up in the actual investigation with the known killer. I think in order to write from this perspective must be a challenge but the author outdid herself.

Tense nail biter

I read this after the series so it was a bit of an adjustment going back in time. It was a very tense edge of your seat story, with th usual procedural elements but very little personal interaction and no sex. Honestly I was glad to miss the sex but the premise gives a reader no time to rest; the tension just continues to ratchet up to the conclusion. Definitely recommend!

Another fabulous read!

I love Cam and Hunter together. This was a well written story from beginning to end. For some who might think it's too different from the previous books you will not be disappointed. The story sucks you end and you eat up the pages until the end. Of course you want more which is usual when it come to Hunter Dane and Camden Snow. Excitedly waiting for the next story!

Twisty, suspenseful, very satisfying police procedural!

Amazing writing, as always, and the characters are well-done and really interesting. The suspense was ramped up even higher than usual, and the twists and turns kept coming. Incredibly good police procedural, and favorite couple Hunt and Cam had starring roles. Will be re-reading this as well as the others in the 4ever series.

Another winner!

Cam and Hunter never fail to entertain. I really enjoyed reading this book. It is more police procedural than the other books. It has less of their personal story You really need to read the others before reading this so that the characters make sense. But it is a great read and has a ending that leads to further cases developing in the future.

Sigh. Hunter and Cam forever

Love this one- as I do all these about Hunter and Cam. My only complaint is that I read them so fast and they are over too soon. Complex OMG characters, great crime solving and shivery villains. With all that is going on, I kind of flinched a bit about the crime, but that is me and no reflection on the author. Thank you for a great read!

Another Fantastic story!

Once again, Hunter and Cam charge into battle a psychopathic killer. A fast paced, active double plot line weaves through the book. Each of the two Main Characters do the unique things that make them both fascinating. Their respective side crews are interesting and diverse. Old friends pop up and new ones join the squad. This is a story worthy of Cam and Hunter! Don't miss it!

another amazing addition to the series

I look forward to each and everyone of these books and the author never fails to deliver. I love the relationship that has grown between the two men and also the rest of the crew as well. I don't want to talk plot points so just know you should read it and you won't be disappointed!

Excellent suspense in a small package

I love the other books about Cam and Hunt - but this is a departure into Hitchcock territory. I'm glad I started it this morning instead of last night because I could not have put it down. Highly recommended, and I can't wait for the next one.

A thrilling and chilling suspense featuring Hunt and Cam grabs us again.

Adira August has just written a masterpiece of a thriller called The Interrogation. It features Hunter Dane and Camden Snow from her previous series Hunt & Cam 4Ever. It’s excellent, more twists and turns than a corkscrew, a satisfying ending and enough heat to keep it interesting. My best advice is to start it early in the day or it will keep you up at night to finish. I’ve read all her books and, like all the others, this one doesn’t disappoint!

Great start to spin-off series

I love a good mystery/police drama and having Hung and Cam on the case makes the story that much better! While I love the D/S dynamic between the two, I really enjoyed seeing the investigative side and seeing familiar faces from Hunt&Cam4Ever! The story was fast paced and compelling and I'm looking forward to more!

I couldn’t put it down!

Cam and Hunter are back, solving cases with The Unit. There is so much page turning action, I read this in one day. I’m happy I did, because I know I wouldn’t rest until the case was solved. Absolutely fantastic story!

convoluted

Convoluted and immensely entertaining read. Cam and Hunt are amazing even if there is NO sex at all in this book! The suspenseful buildup in this story was enough to keep everyone on their toes.... definitely a 5 star read.

A mut read page turner

I couldn't put the book down. I read it in one sitting. Adira August puts so much thought and details in her books. I always feel like I'm reading a true crime novel and at a minimum should be a made for TV movie. Looking forward to more Hunter Dane Investigations books.

Kidnapped

GreAt suspense book. Hunter and Can work to solve a child kidnapping. It shows steps they have to go through to find. Couldn't put it down. They are fighting a snowstorm to find the boy. Love the tension in the book. Can't wait till next book comes out

Want More

I love Hunter and Cam. This book, although short, was amazing. I loved following the investigation and I'm always learning something new. I hope to see more of them in the future.

Excellent Story, as I expected

Adira August is a truly talented author. I buy every book she writes, as I absolutely know it will be an excellent, well crafted story. I love Cam and Hunter, they are so good together. I would highly recommend this book, don't miss out on this wonderful world of Cam and Hunter.

Awesome Read!!

This book is brilliant! So many twists and turns from the start! Hunt and Cam are awesome along with their team. I can't wait for more books!

Great spin off.

I have enjoyed all the Hunter&Camden books. If you have read any of the others you will love the mystery and suspense in the one.

Wonderful

I just love all of books in the series. They are all wonderfully written. As are all of Hunt and Cams books are but if when another one is written please let them have some quiet time to enjoy their honeymoon with no interruptions. And please bring Hunter back to himself. When will book 8 be out ? Can't wait to add the next book to my library.

Mystery and some romance

I love, love the interaction of Hunter and all of his friends/employees. The writing is smooth and flowing, few, if any grammar errors. But mainly I love the flow of the story. She is an automatic buy for me. I have read ALL her books and loved them all.

Another winner

I am very impressed with the accuracy of police procedures in this authors books. This book is for when you need a break from pnr or fantasy. It's gritty and real. I loved the psychology of The Interrogation. I will continue to follow Cam and Dane no matter where Ms August takes them.

Hunt and Cam. An awesome pair.

I so enjoyed this book. I have enjoyed all of the books in the series. Hunt and Cam are 2 of my favorite charecters. I own the whole series and cant wait for more from Adira.

a new direction

I have been waiting for more in this series.

5 Stars

This was a great read! Love all the books & cant wait for more Hunter & Cam & the rest crew.

Thought I might be disappointed

Since it was more a crime procedural /mystery, but I wasn’t. Well done, Addy. Enough said. Looking forward to more!

Captivating

Adira August does it again. Hunt and Cam are always riveting, and this book is so them and captivating start to finish.

Hunter, wow

Throughly enjoyed all of Adria August Hunter&cam books and am looking forward to reading more.

Awesome

Love this series, these characters and this book.

A Thrilling and Intriguing pageturner

Unless you’ve never seen one of my reviews before, you probably know I’m a HUGE fan of Hunt & Cam. I’ve been with them from the very start and eagerly await every subsequent book. These two men are glorious together. Made for each other, Hunter Dane and Camden Snow come to life on the pages of these stories, and worm their way into your heart and head…well, they did for me. But, if you’ve read the previous stories, you probably need to know that this book is different from the earlier titles. Where the older stories focus on the relationship between Hunt and Cam and their D/s dynamic with Hunter day job taking a (growing) backseat, The Interrogation is a pure and simple thriller. While the feelings they have for each other are still vivid, there are no on-the-page sex scenes to be found in this story. As for the crime? When a young boy disappears, Hunter is put in charge of the case. The kidnapper is soon apprehended, but there’s no sign of the boy. He’s been left, somewhere in the wilderness to die a slow and horrible death in a blizzard that’s about to strike in a matter of hours. In a race against time, Hunter must get the man to talk while Cam is out searching for his victim. As the snow starts to fall, more than one life is at stake. I have to admit that before I started The Interrogation I wondered if I would miss those extremely enticing scenes. Would Hunt & Cam be able to captivate me as much without getting their clothes off, without their ever so imaginative sexual encounters? I’m very happy that I’m able to answer that question with a whole-hearted ‘YES’. The investigation in this story, the search for the young missing boy, and the tension during the interrogation were so intense that I didn’t have time to miss the sex. In fact, the timeline in this story is so tight that any time-out for private escapades would have felt wrong, contrived, and shoe-horned in. And yet, even without describing any explicit intimacies, the reader is never in any doubt how much these men mean to each other, how they live and breath for and because of the other. This is one of those stories that forces the reader to pay close attention. Nothing is exactly what it seems. Nothing unfolds as you might expect. And you’ll find yourself torn between wanting to read slowly, just to make sure you don’t miss anything, and the urge to rush along and discover how it all ends. Between a manipulative perpetrator, policing politics and rivalries, an innocent young victim, a race against time, and a heroic dog, there really isn’t anything in this book not to love. But, best of all, as always, are Hunter and Camden: two heroes so perfect they shouldn’t work and yet manage to be memorable and incredibly more-ish. Can I have the next book, please?

Exciting and emotional police procedural

This standalone features characters from Adira August's Hunt+Cam4ever series (which I highly recommend), hut you really dont need to have read those to enjoy this book. You'll of course probably enjoy it *extra* if you already love Hunt, Cam, and the rest of the Unit! The police case - both the interrogation and the search and rescue - were very well written. I really enjoyed how many mini plotlines and setbacks there were; it kept it from being as straightforward as you first assume. Also enjoyed how many people I wanted to facepunch by the end 😂 I thought I'd miss the erotica since this one has no on-page sex, but it really wasn't needed in this storyline. I was very happy to see the glimpses we got of Hunt and Cam's romantic relationship though. Cam in Dom mode, the tender moments, Hunt's stoicism and his tears... gorgeous.

Loved

I just fell in love with Cam and Hunt more, if that was even possible. No matter what their relationship is the job comes first. And this case was nail biting. Saving the life of a kid was the priority. This book was a little different because it dealt more with the case then their relationship. But it didn't take away from the intimacy we've come to love with Cam and Hunt. I'm going to love this new series

HOLY...!!!

This taut, tight, raw, gripping, gritty, fast paced, action packed, fascinating, intriguing, no holds barred, nail biting, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat, tension filled, amazing, filled with more twists and turns than a rollercoaster, and totally awesome tale didn't need sexy times to pull me in from the very first page. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this marvelous gem immediately!

7 for 7

I just finished reading The Interrogation. I truly could not put it down. Hunter, Cam and the rest of Unit try to find a kidnapped boy while dealing with a million other factors. The book is a fast paced, emotional roller coaster of a read and I enjoyed it throughly. It is also a change of pace from all the sexy time (I always wanted to say that) novels that we love about Hunter and Cam. Run and get your copy now. Then sit back and enjoy more Hunter and Cam time.

Intense

Another intense Hunter and Cam story. Well written and suspenseful the only negative is that I have finished the book and there is not another book waiting for me to devour. When you pick this book up plan on scheduling down time, because you will not want to put it down.

Intense mystery

This Hunter and Cam installment is an intense and breathtaking ride. If you are a fan of mysteries and policing this book is an excellent read. I have become a real Twee fan. So in all a great read but I do so miss the d/s; it was a powerful part of their personalities and the dynamic in their relationship. Please bring it back dear author.

Luv Cam and Hunter

I luved this book. I felt this was the most exciting mystery yet. I am disappointed as there should have been a final face to face scene with Ferritier and one with brian and Hans. The ending just felt very rushed and it was disappointing. I still highly recommend reading but hoping the author will "finish" the book and republish.

Hunter and Cam with a new case. Fantastic!

I was so excited to read this since I love Hunter and Cam and the crew. It is a fantastic mystery done with Hunter and Cam style. I am so happy that Adira August gave us a new way to continue to read about these men. Great case, great characters!!

A smashing great book

This is a new author for me. I'm not a fan of BDSM so I was glad it wasn't a major part of the story. A really great cast of characters. The twists were amazing. Loved this book. Found a new detective series which always makes me super delighted.

Very good!

This was a fast paced story with some twists. You know who did it but how they get the evidence to prove it was very interesting and exciting. All the time racing against the clock to try and save a child. Well done.

Thought He Was Smarter

Hunter and his team are called in on a kidnapping, involving the governor's nephew. The suspect thinking he was smarter than Hunter, Agent Garza, Tech Twee, Cam Snow and the rest of team, found himself crying in the end. I loved this story.

Delightful Book

Another spectacular Hunter and Cam book. I loved how the whole team worked at piecing the story together until they had a complete picture. The one chip in the poker game was outstanding.

Riviting

This book was simply riviting. I could not put it down. The way the suspense was built up just had you on the edge of your seat. I am going to love this new series!!

Cam and Hunt!

More please! My only complaint was that the book was not long enough! Love this series and the whole supporting cast.

Wow, just Wow!

I have been a fan of Hunt and Cam since I read the first book. I can't recommend the series enough. ;) and this book just blew me away. Happy reading !!!

Intriguing as usual!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What can I say? If u know Adira’s writing then u know what an amazing writer she is! I loved this book as much as the others!! ❤️ Highly recommend this detective story!!
