The “Seth Books” by Jane Roberts are world-renowned for comprising one of the most profound bodies of work ever written on the true nature of reality.

Speaking exclusively through Jane Roberts, Seth has repeatedly stressed the concept that we create our own reality according to our individual beliefs. But how do our realities merge and combine to form mass reactions such as the overthrow of governments, the birth of a new religion, wars, epidemics, earthquakes, and new periods of art, architecture, and technology?

In this pioneering work, Seth explores the connection between personal beliefs and world events. He pinpoints the unconscious — and often negative — beliefs pervading science and religion, medicine and mythology, and offers thought-provoking reflections on Darwinism, Freudianism, religions, cults, and medical beliefs.

With fascinating and inspiring implications, Seth asserts that the personal impulses we are often taught to see as dangerous, chaotic, or contradictory, are instead crucial to the best interests of the species and the natural world, for they lead us to live “not only as loving caretakers, but as partners with other species.”

“Only people who trust their spontaneous impulses can be consciously wise enough to choose from a myriad of probable futures the most promising events….” — Jane Roberts, Speaking for Seth

Praise for The Seth Books, by Jane Roberts

“The Seth books present an alternate map of reality with a new diagram of the psyche . . . useful to all explorers of consciousness.” — Deepak Chopra, M.D., author of The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

“Seth was one of my first metaphysical teachers. He remains a constant source of knowledge and inspiration in my life.” — Marianne Williamson, author of A Return to Love

“I would like to see the Seth books as required reading for anyone on their spiritual pathway. The amazing in-depth information in the Seth books is as relevant today as it was in the early ’70s when Jane Roberts first channeled this material.” — Louise Hay, author of You Can Heal Your Life

“Seth’s teachings had an important influence on my life and work, and provided one of the initial inspirations for writing Creative Visualization.” — Shakti Gawain, author of Creative Visualization

“The Seth books were of great benefit to me on my spiritual journey and helped me to see another way of looking at the world.” — Gerald G. Jampolsky, author of Love Is Letting Go of Fear

“As you read Seth’s words, you will gain more than just new ideas. Seth’s energy comes through every page — energy that expands your consciousness and changes your thoughts about the nature of reality.” — Sanaya Roman, author of Living with Joy

“To my great surprise — and slight annoyance — I found that Seth eloquently and lucidly articulated a view of reality that I had arrived at only after great effort and an extensive study of both paranormal phenomena and quantum physics....” — Michael Talbot, author of The Holographic Universe

About the Author

Jane Roberts (May 8, 1929 – September 5, 1984) grew up in Saratoga Springs, New York where she attended Skidmore College. She was a prolific writer in a variety of genres including poetry, short stories, children’s literature, and fiction when in 1963, she began to receive messages from a non-physical energy personality who called himself “Seth.” Her husband, Robert F. Butts, an artist and writer, recorded the messages and together they dedicated their lives to the publication of Seth’s teachings.

Jane’s “Seth Books” have become classics in the fields of psychology and personal growth, and stand out as one of the major forces that led to the New Age philosophical movement in the 1970s. Today, Yale University Library maintains a collection of Jane’s writings, journals, poetry, audio and video recordings, correspondence, and other materials (the “Jane Roberts Papers”) donated by her husband and other individuals.

In a class of its own. A classic!

If you want to understand how all our lives interact, and And why some people join cults or become fanatics, you won’t be sorry you picked up this book. There’s nothing else quite like it around, and it will give you an insight and understanding to people and events like never before. Seth also talks about how the universe bends in our direction, how it is actually easier to create good events than bad events, and the hidden dynamics about why people participate in disasters and so on. I read this book over 30 years ago, and it was written around the time of the Jonestown mass suicide, but its insights apply to today’s Religious Right, white supremacists, fear of immigrants and other cultist groups, although Seth never mentions these groups by name. He just talks about how frightened people want simple easy answers, want to be told what to think, because thinking for oneself if much harder to do. And that almost any framework of believes will suffice, no matter how irrational. This review does not do this book justice, so my apologies. It is a brilliant, insightful, and rare book that will give you insight into people and human behavior that I don’t believe you will find elsewhere. I am a lifelong fan of Seth, and all of his books are mind-blowing and well worth reading—and studying.

Seth is awesome in many respects.

The individual and nature of mass events is interesting reading. I was in high school or had just graduated when Jane Roberts was doing her groundbreaking work with Seth and I wasn't so far into philosophy and its many schools of thought. I do not think every psychic who claims to be is real, nor are all channelers authentic but Jane and Seth seem to be the real deal to me. I bought this book to see if it's possible to make sense of the phenomena of living in this crazy world! The things in this book just help me feel that we really won't know what life's all about until we pass into the next phase of being after death. At least this book helps me see that I am living as well as I can hope (on this planet) and my personal struggles and triumphs are helping me evolve as a sensitive soul. Namaste.

All Seth Books Delivery Consistently

All of the Seth books are amazing and worthy of 5 stars. The ONLY thing you need to wonder about is which of the Seth books to read first! I've been reading Seth, and the like, for about 20+ years now and I have to say, it amazes me how the Seth material spoke, back then, of things that are only now coming to mainstream awareness and the forefront of science. I am currently on my 3rd re-read of this particular text. I am on my 4th re-read of 'The Nature of Personal Reality' as it continues to fuel my understanding of 'creating my reality' but I would also suggest 'The Magical Approach', which gave me several 'Aha' moments!

There was a message for me in this book

I first read a Jane Roberts/Seth book nearly thirty years ago; back then, they rattled my views on "reality". It has been nice to renew that relationship after such a long hiatus. In the meantime, I have read "A course in miracles" nearly three times over. This is my take regarding the connection between the messages of those two books: Jane Roberts/Seth books deal with how to best manage incarnations while "A course in miracles" deals with escape from the reincarnational wheel. Both sources should be studied and their messages implemented right away in our lives, for the Glory of God. This particular book explains how each one of us influence mass events. It also entreats us to follow our interior voice in order to fulfil our potential. This is a most interesting and instructive book. Personally, I received a message through it. Thank you Amazon for making these books, and others like them, affordable and available to the spiritually minded crowd.

Seth readings where the start of the New Age Movement.. Many books have been written that use the knowledge gained from the Seth series. This book opens your mind to why world events happen and that individuals create their own environment. After reading you should never blame anyone else for what happens in your life.

All Seth material is amazing and so relevant in this day and age where there is so much awakening going on around the globe. I have read all the Seth material twice now and I can not recommend this enough in order to answer questions and to clarify and fill in information. All of this as it pertains to the unseen reality is of incredible value. Never hesitate to read all of the Seth material if you are a being who wants to know more.

Required Reading!

Should be be required reading for everybody. People spend SO much time working and I NEVER give any thought about how and why we ARE. Seth is brilliant. Many of his teachings have been verified to this day. Ancient civilizations, science and many other things are explained. Excellent read!

Channel Material

I've read most of Jane Roberts Seth Material books. In my opinion Seth Is telling it like it is. More and more now a days the cutting edge theoretical physicists are agreeing that reality is very similar to what Seth has been describing since the "seventies". This puts a Quantum Physics spin on the reality that Seth has been telling us about for decades. If you're interested in knowing what reality is really like, the Seth Books can enlighten you. I've enjoyed all the ones I've read. This one, The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events, included. However. if you want to know my favorite of all, it would have to be The Nature Of Personal Reality, written in '74. Followed closely by Seth Speaks. Written in '72. If you find you have an interest in this type of material, any of the Seth books will be well worth your time.

Very relevant in these times

I've been a reader of Seth for over 30 years. The Nature of Personality and Seth Speaks became my pattern for life back in the 1970's. My life has brought me what I wanted because of these teachings. I was happy to find this book and believe that Seth's message is as true today (if not more so) than it was back in 1978 when the book was written. We create our own reality individually and enmasse - is Seth's main theme and it's true. You get what you concentrate on, it's that simple. Our thoughts, actions and words create the environment we live in - the energy around us. Don't like your life? Examine your belief system and how you look at the world. In this book he explains how this philosophy relates to (and creates) our weather patterns, wars, our triumphs, individual illnesses, our mass epidemics - all of it. And it makes perfect sense. This is a keeper and a book to learn from. The Beatles said it a long time ago - All you need is love!

Missing pages- error in printing

Love the book, but came to page 280 something and it abruptly ended...it's missing a bunch of pages, it should have just over 300 pages (confirmed this with my mom who owns an older copy). Love the book but did not appreciate that I had to pay to return the book and got no offer to have the copy replaced. I am afraid to re-order ( I'd love to finish reading it), because I don't know if I will just get another improperly printed copy and have to pay once again to return it. Thus the 2 stars.

Another fantastic Seth book

I can't recommend the Seth\Jane Roberts books enough. They are all important work. This book was helpful and enlightening when looking at life with the consideration of how each person affects and contributes to mass events. Recommended.

Monumental contribution to anyone interested in spiritual growth

After "Seth Speaks," second on a must read list of Jane Roberts books. The contributions of Jane Roberts to the spiritual growth of mankind will grow with time. Seth, a spiritual energy being who in "Seth Speak"s admitted that in one of his many reincarnations he was a Pope proposes a concept of Frameworks to make us understand the connection between our many levels of consciousness. He teaches us how to withhold judgment and focus on the present in order to live a better life. Most people who read the first book, could not put it away. Enjoy the reading. It will help you be a better person.

the Jane Roberts/Seth Books (all of them) are an excellent source of learning

the Jane Roberts/Seth Books (all of them) are an excellent source of learning. In fact, the best I have encountered regarding personality development as well as learning about the larger world as it exists. I consider all of them the most important books, of this genre, that have ever been published.

Seth Gives An Entirely New Perspective, Again.

Seeing what makes up our lives from a perspective of someone that is beyond our realm gives us much insight. Which allows us to grow, greatly. I am always impressed with the Seth Material. This view of consciousness and mass events resonates with me, greatly.

Seth Explains World Events

Have you ever wondered why the world's currents unfold the way they do? Reading this will give you insight into life's themes and how they apply to us.

Very Relevant Today

This is not a beginner Seth book, but it is one of my favorites. He introduces basic concepts which, if truly grokked, could really start the changes that everyone wants to see in the world. The ideas can, of course, be applied to a reader's personal life, and Seth sheds some detailed light on the mechanics of "creating our own reality." But what got me was how Seth was able to connect our individual dynamics to the larger picture out there...governments, mass beliefs, wars, even weather patterns. He places the responsibility firmly on each of our shoulders...which also means the capacity to change current conditions also lies with each of us. Seth outlines how we project/distort our shared reality--possibly to the point of paranoia--so that we can understand how each of us tweaks our connection to the world, to other people, and even to our bodies.

Magical Book For Seth Enthusiasts!

Classic Seth book taken to the next level. Fantastic inside look at the psychic power of people to congregate & create their reality on a grand scale - this includes their greatness & disasters. Its considered by the authors to be Part 2 of "The Nature of Personal Reality". I was able to take this book in combination with "Power vs. Force" by Dr. David Hawkins to cause some crazy things in the world around me. This book isn't just for reading.. Its for Creating.

Mind Stretching

So many new outlooks. Mind expanding. There is no easy way to write a review that covers everything. So, I'm keeping it short. I will be rereading this book because there is so much to learn from it and I didn't get it all the first time. I recommend this book, especially if you have already read the first Seth book.

See the good in all

This book has helped me understand that the world and all of those within it are manifestations of All That Is, which is in turn divinely good. Delightful and inspiring.

The antidote to cultural nihlism

Roberts' Nature of Person Reality is my top book pick and this one follows as a close second. I pick this one up when I feel overwhelmed by the headlines. Seth connects the dots between personal beliefs and social assumptions about human nature, (especially as they have been historically articulated by religion and science) and global events-- wars, epidemics, mass suicide, violence and natural disasters. Unlike many a cautionary tale about the times we live in that leave me feeling powerless and hopeless, Seth shows that every individual holds the key to co-creating a healthier collective experience.

good job

no problems,

Mind-blowing original content.

Another fantastic body of knowledge from non-physical. I will be collecting all Seth's works. I won't recommend to everyone because I've proven to myself that not everyone is ready for this knowledge. But if you are, you will be richly rewarded.

All of Jane Robert's books are great and memorable and stay with you

All of Jane Robert's books are great and memorable and stay with you. ALL of them. We're luck to have had her.

You create your own reality

Seth's perspective on the origins of our universe, all that exists and our place as co-creators are awe inspiring. A much more attractive alternative to the current theories that state we came into being by a series of accidents, without purpose or meaning.

Seth is a channeled author of many books and sessions put to CD listening by Jane Roberts and her husband Rob Butts.

If you love Seth books this is one of the best. A perspective of how we as a group of human beings live life together and separately. Seth is a channeled being, by Jane Roberts as transcribed by her husband from many sessions beginning in 1969 and ending at her death in 1980.

Life changing

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Seth is a master teacher, explaining the seemingly unexplainable. This book is a must-read for any spiritual seeker.

First rate

Seth offers here, as he always does, astounding insights into the nature of this "dream of consciousness" called the world. In this particular book, he deepened my understanding of the way our individual lives combine to form our collective dreams (mass events).

A Different Way of Looking at the World

Scientists and medical personell would hate this book, but they should read it anyway. What's to be afraid of other than a different take on the meta-pradigm pretending to be the answer?

Insightful

Amazing read filled with practical information on how to live lives. Good observations on how much time we waste not following our impulses.

Another priceless Seth book

An extremely informative book on the nature of reality and how we (not just humans) hold it in place. It makes so much sense to me! I'm savoring the book, a little embarrassed at how many pages I've been highlighting!

one oft the best Seth books

Can recommend to anyone who have at lest little ability to accept world views that are not bound of Darvinism or fanatic religious. It sure widens ones world view and deepens the understanding of our mental and physical existence.

Books don’t download onto kindle

I hate kindle. I can’t get my purchased books onto my kindle, and although the app says they will appear on my kindle, they don’t.

We create the events of the world in which we live---individually and collectively

Individually and collectively, we all think, speak, and act. All individual and group thinking, speaking, and acting have consequences. Just as there are individual conflicts, there are group conflicts when nations go to war against other nations.

I love the Seth Material - almost all of it

I don't know what happened to my last paperback copy of this book but I am really glad that I now have it in hard cover. Now my whole collection is in hard cover.

Wonderful Book

Good book very insightful, explains much about how our own individual realities intersect with all other's realities to create the world and events that happen in that world today.

Five Stars

Another excellent book for those who are fans of the Seth Books.

Five Stars

Seth is amazing. Very insightful.

Absolutely amazing.

This book is amazing. As well as all the other Seth books. Amazon is the only place where I can find them, especially at such a low price. Great deal. Definitely a book everyone should read.

opion of contents

All I can say is,if most human beings including children at their level were taught these concepts we would be observing a more harmonious reflection of mass events..In any case,on an individual level it's a must read for our present point of power. One of the best books written on the subject!

love all the Seth/Jane Roberts books that I have read

Very interesting insights...love all the Seth/Jane Roberts books that I have read.

Simply amazing! Must Read!

I would recommend this book after Seth Speaks and the Nature of Personal Reality. For me, these function as a trilogy. This is still a good stand alone book without the backings of the two previously mentioned, but they help set the foundation for this book. No spoilers here, just definitely recommend as a MUSTGET, MUST READ.

Life Changing

I have read this many times over. I seem to find something new every time I pick it up. The whole series of Seth books are life changing.

Change Life for Better

For those ready for understanding the INNER self, this and the other Seth books will change your life for the better

A review of the Nature of Mass Events

This book is a must read for all Seth enthusiasts. All the Seth books should be read your first time through in the order they were written and published.

Excellent!

Seth is incredible as usual. This book as does his others, demonstrates that there is far more to human nature than has been commonly believed and that reality is far different than science understands!

Five Stars

Fascinating and well written

MASS EVENTS ARE JUST NOT THE SAME

I'd read this back in the '90s and thought I'd get it again to see if there was some clue as to how my individuality could affect the mass events of this time. What a surprise to find at that time Seth worried about Public Service Announcements reminding women to get mammograms and how that could start a general belief in the inability of our bodies to heal themselves. (Then I see today's ads and gag.) Two of the other major Mass Events they all worried (Jane, Robert and Seth) was Three Mile Island and the Jim Jones Guyana nightmares. Not to undercut these horrors by any means, but when I open the paper today the sight is incomparable. The message is the same, "We all create our reality," but when everyone's creation goes into the collective pot of soup that creates these Mass Events, it seems hopeless for my individuality to do much to affect the nature of them. I re-read the highlights I'd done on my Kindle and the writing is beautiful and so full of truth. I was just hoping for something new to help with the Mass Events that we have today and in that I was disappointed. Once again, way too many notes from Robert and then to find out it took Jane two total weeks to dictate the book and it took Robert well over a year (or two) to add his input. Some of it is good, but the diary b.s. about what other work they were doing and the ad nausea comments about work that was "private and not to be included here" was very tiresome. Otherwise, I'd have given it five stars. It was perfect for the era it was written in and the message is universally true forever and always.

The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events

This book came to me just at the right time. I've read many of the previous Seth books and this is now among my favorites.

Answered a lot of questions for me.

This book just makes so much sense to me. I have read some of Seth's other books, but this one was the best for me because it has helped me to understand myself and how I've attracted others and situations into my life.

Five Stars

Makes for a very different and compelling world view. Extraordinary in every since of the word.

Great Book, so interesting

WOW! Great Book, so interesting, I've read this many times and re-read it every year! A1 book

Be ready :) !!!!

Beautiful, spiritually illuminating book! The truth at its core! Intense read!

An infinite source of revelatory insights, profoundly spiritual in a way that is also entirely practical, about the nature and larger context of human existence.

loved it

This is the 5th Seth book I've read and each one is more interesting and informative and amazing than the last. You'll be hooked!

Book

Read this book years ago and lost it somewhere in the shuffle -- so ordered it and am reding it again...Fascinating !

Fascinating and as relevant now as when first written!

Read Seth Speaks and The Seth Material back in the 70's...amazing how it totally resonates with todays books in this genre.

Very Relevant to the Current Political and Health Situation

When this book came out in 1981, I had been reading the Seth Material through my teenage years. It commented in a timely way on the nuclear disaster that was unfolding at Three Mile Island, and the mass suicide in Jonestown. In revisiting these classic works 40-45 years later, it is fair to say that they are unequaled in the vast arena of metaphysical and self-help literature that has been published since. They continue to be of great social relevance, though they require a certain level of concentration and cannot be read casually. They can, however, be read in pieces, session by session, many times over. The material is always fresh. Toward the end of his life, Rob Butts (husband of Jane Roberts and author of the extensive notes that enriched all the Seth Material) was a friend of mine and was quite heartened that the books were being discovered by a new generation of young people who were poised to change the world. In the midst of the current (April 2020) health crisis, Session 802 particularly stands out as having relevant insights. A portion of it reads: "The environment in which an outbreak occurs points at the political, sociological, and economic conditions that have evolved, causing such disorder. Often such outbreaks take place after ineffective political or social action – that is, after some unified mass social protest – has failed, or is considered hopeless. . . . Initially there is psychic contagion: Despair moves faster than a mosquito, or any outward carrier of a given disease. The mental state brings about the activation of a virus that is, in those terms, passive. . . . Despair may seem passive only because it feels that exterior action is hopeless – but its fires rage inwardly, and that kind of contagion can leap from bed to bed and from heart to heart. It touches those, however, who are in the same state only, AND TO SOME EXTENT IT BRINGS ABOUT AN ACCELERATION IN WHICH SOMETHING CAN INDEED BE DONE IN TERMS OF GROUP ACTION." [Capitalization added for emphasis.]

Priceless information just like the rest of Seth's material

This is a good one. It's largely on human impulses, but it touches on and interweaves into SO many other fascinating & intriguing areas and aspects of human experience, that you get the benefit of mastery of all the other areas Seth ties them (impulses) in with (a LOT!) Seth's concepts and material have completely changed my life, to just as serious as i can be, immeasurable & indescribably better extents of mastery in whatever area i spend any noticeable amount of my time & attention studying his wisdom on. (see what i did there? "spend" ..... my "time" and "attention" on *grins*. They are the 2 spiritual currencies, time & attention. What are you gonna spend yours on? We tend to look boldly and courageously into the problems of our society—but lo and behold, what happens to our courage when we think of looking into ourselves? Now, you are not being intellectually honest by refusing to look into yourself. You are using your intellect instead as an excuse. You are saying, intellectually I will not operate in this particular area. You think you are saying, I am too intellectual to operate in this particular area—my intellect impedes my progress. Your intellect does not impede your progress, your attitude towards your intellect does. Your intellect can be used to examine your progress. It can be an aid and it can help you in your achievement. Your intellect is not afraid of the inner self. It will grow with you gladly and as a friend if you will allow it to do so. Pretend then that the inner self is another land—and that you are a tourist—and highly curious—that you are intellectually and intuitively curious—pretend that all this courage you use in your daily endeavors is an aid to help you find your way in this new and strange and wondrous environment. Imagine yourself using all the abilities, as you look inward, that you use daily in looking outward. —Seth in "The Early Class Sessions Vol. 1" (TECS1) - ESP Class Session, April 8, 1969; Jane Roberts

Profoundly accessible metaphysics

Jane Roberts’ Seth phenomenon commenced in 1963. Her Seth books, co-authored with her husband Robert F Butts, first appeared in 1966. Many books followed, containing the transcribed messages from the ‘entity’ Seth. He referred to himself as ‘an energy personality essence no longer focused in physical matter.’ Commentaries and asides by both Roberts and Butts is sandwiched between the Seth text—some of it illuminating but much of it irrelevant and somewhat annoying. Roberts was also a poet and author of several books of her own, including the ‘Oversoul Seven’ trilogy of novels. Roberts was a bona fide trance medium (however one might define it) who had an intimate personal psychic ‘relationship’ with Seth. But her reception of information was not limited to arranged sessions of being in trance with Seth controlling her body and voicing messages, which her husband transcribed. Seth also had extrasensory impromptu ‘communications’ with her ‘on the side,’ at any time of day or night while she was fully aware and active with her daily tasks. Many of those messages became impressed on her memory to be related to her husband or her friends or later included in her books. The Seth material has been dismissed by many religionists and materialists as New Age drivel. But it has been endorsed by many other high profile authors, psychologists and spiritual progressives. The material has still a strong following. Many books are still being kept in print. Whatever the material’s ‘source’ I find much of it to be profoundly thought-provoking and accessible metaphysical literature. For me it is certainly more coherent and comprehensible than ‘A Course in Miracles’ (produced by automatic writing). Furthermore, it contains a great deal of good practical advice about how to be a positively minded, active, loving and creative individual. Unlike ACIM it does not require a mind-controlling discipline centered on a frustrated theology of humankind’s misdirected and deluded egos. I could not find anything scary, demonic or fanatical about Seth’s declarations. In fact, ‘he’ champions freedom from restrictive religious, psychoanalytic, political and scientific precepts. The reader may choose to accept or reject what is offered. Next I intend to read ‘The Seth Material’—published eleven years prior to this book—which would no doubt have been a better book to start learning about Seth’s universal, interactive and inter-dimensional view of consciousness.

Get ready to have almost all your questions answered!

A deep and life changing explanation of our life, our relationship with nature and our own body. This a book that sends you to a new way of thinking and interact with your environment. This book contains the profound secrets of existence!

Enlightening, insightful and provocative.

"You create your own reality". This is the central message of the Seth material. Far from being the helpless victims of circumstances that have been thrust upon us, we are the masters of our own destiny, even though most of us are unaware of it. But if we all create our individual realities, how come that there are events that influence a great number of people simultaneously, like elections, natural disasters or epidemics? How could one possibly believe, for example, that the 6 million jews who died in the holocaust all individually chose that fate for themselves? It is at the intersection of individual and mass reality where Seth's message indeed appears to fail the reality check. Not so, according to Seth, but it takes a whole book to explain why. 'The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events' carefully elaborates how the individual and the collective consciousness work together in a grandiose balancing act to create a shared reality that serves all the invididual development needs, simultaneously. Seth illustrates his points by discussing some of the great mass events of the time, such as Watergate or Three Mile Island. Of particularly significance in this context is Seth's statement that public health announcements and prevention programs, by their suggestive nature, create more instances of the diseases than they prevent! 'The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events' represents a cornerstone of the Seth material, as it reconciles Seth's principal message with our common sense perception of reality. It helps the reader to make sense of seemingly senseless events, and it shows how each of us, individually, can make a difference.

New to Seth? This book may perplex.

Don't get me wrong. All the Seth books by Jane Roberts are worthwhile. And given recent global events, this book is more timely than ever. So I highly recommend that at some point you purchase this book so that you can read and reread it many times over. You should definitely aim to have all the Seth books as part of your personal library. I surely do. And I can pick a Seth book at random, turn to any page, and come away with a fresh insight. But if you are not sure who or what Seth is? Then this book may only confuse and perplex you. If you are new to Seth, I highly recommend that you start with "The Coming of Seth," followed by "The Seth Material," and then the must-have-Seth-book-of-all-time, "The Nature of Personal Reality." Then you will most surely want to read "The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events." My only complaint about this book? The "current" events referred to in this book may seem like ancient history to some. Oh, how I wish Ms. Roberts were alive today for Seth to comment upon such things as the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the more recent terrorist attacks. But indirectly, this book will help you come to terms with all these events and more. So in this respect, it is more important now than ever before. And one of the reasons that I include it on my list of "Timely Tomes for Troubled Times."

why do things happen?

Why do we have world events, disasters, weather, etc the way they occur? This book address these questions. Reading this book, one can see how we create our realities as societies, cultures, countries, etc. We can gain additional, if not totally new, insight on this matter. What you will find out may surprise you, it may even make you angry or just make you not believe what the book says. To gain further insight, read The Personal Nature of Reality also which will show you how we create our own immediate reality. To me it was difficult to read but others that I know had no problem. Possibly it was hard to read was because it was packed full of information? I give it 4 stars because the way it was written. I think it could have been written so that it is less verbose and easier to understand. This book was written in the 70's when this kind of information was new and hard to find.

A penetrating view of group thinking

At last, Seth gets specific about our current events and talks about the distored realities that led up to events like Jonestown and the Watergate affair. His discussion of the dividing line between idealists and fanatics is most fascinating and might make you rethink our nation's military policy. The themes that run through all of his books, that humans are of good intent, and that we create our own reality, are repeated here again, of course, but each book brings a new light to bear on those very basic and important messages. Read this book if you are concerned about, and involved with any kind of group, from your family to an international movement.

Quick shipper, item as described.

Good deal-a gift for a friend who is a Sethian.

Stunning

All the "Seth" books are nothing short of stunning. They are also gripping, mind boggling, unforgettable, and life-changing. But to read this you had better be prepared to throw away a whole bunch of worn-out beliefs, and pick up a whole bunch of crisp new ones.

Outstanding

In my opinion the Seth Books are the best out there in terms of how we create our own reality both individually and collectively. Anyone who believes the Seth Material is evil clearly have never read any of the books. If you desire to change your life you can and all the Seth Material will help you to do this. What we think and believe we create.. in the words of Seth "Which World.. Which You?". You have the choice and you decide through the thoughts, beliefs and feelings you entertain in the present moment, this is what ultimately shapes your world. "YOU GET WHAT YOU CONCENTRATE UPON"

even though it's not my favourite Seth book (my favourite is Nature of Personal Reality

I'm giving this 5 stars, even though it's not my favourite Seth book (my favourite is Nature of Personal Reality, which I have raed repeatedly). However, it is an interesting read, and you can consider the events in society, the emergence of distinct cultural groups within societies in a different light. If you like the Seth books, you'll enjoy this one, probably.

A fascinating book for those who believe in something more.

Seth is the most fascinating spirit persona i have ever read about. His technical perspective is exillarating, he even references modern science. Read-Learn-Evolve.

Thoughts are things.

So far this is my favourite Seth book. We create our world and our experiences by our thoughts. Our world is exactly that, ours. Created by us to reflect our thoughts and beliefs.
