Excellent and comprehensive reference!

This book is well organized with beautiful photography and provides a complete reference guide for novices or experienced herbalists in identifying, collecting, and processing the plants that surround us. I loved the emphasis on ethical harvesting, and respecting and honoring plants. Interesting "back stories" on historical uses and folklore add to the mix. I'm excited to put some of the concepts into practice in making teas and tinctures.

Wonderful

This is a great book to introduce you to foraging and making herbal remedies. I have some novice foraging and intermediate remedy making knowledge and I learned a lot. Things about harvesting techniques and tools that I wasn’t familiar with and new to me recipes. It includes a good reference guide to specific plants mentioned in each chapter. This will definitely hold a place on my remedies bookshelf.

A must for any homestead or aspiring herbalist.

This is a great reference book for homesteaders or the aspiring herbalist. Its recipes are informative and easy to follow. The illustrations and photographs are pleasing to the eye and a helpful aid to explain the process at hand. I especially like the emphasis on the importance of ethics in harvesting wild plants in a sustainable way. Everyone should have this book to start their journey to healthy living in harmony with the earth.

Excellent book! Rich & beautiful!!

I LOVE ‘The Herbal Handbook’ & the author Abby Artemsia!! I couldn’t wait for it to be publish & have owned it since. My family & I are methodically making & benefiting from the recipes. We have learned so much about identifying, responsibly harvesting & using the plants in our area. Right now we are benefiting from the Infused Honey for sore throats, Elderberry syrup for wicked coughs (school age children) & Fire cider to help us build immunity before next round of crud. Prior to now, we have made delicious teas, infused oils, herbal bug sprays & cured horrible poison ivy with the knowledge from this book. So much more still to learn! The author shares very valuable knowledge & the book is organized in an easy to use way (read through & flip to specific interests). The photos are gorgeous. I am big fan of Juliette Barclay Levy, Rosemary Gladstar, and Susun Weed. That said, I am enjoying learning from this author & I HIGHLY recommend this book!!

a beautiful, helpful, and friendly guide to herbs

The Herbal Handbook for Homesteaders is an essential reference book to have in the home. Abby Artemisia's knowledge of plants and their edible and medicinal qualities is vast, yet her explanations are simple and easy to follow. She introduces plants and their uses in logical groupings and incorporates underlying scientifically based information to give the reader a sense of not just what plant to use, but why. This book is great for a beginner as well as a seasoned herb enthusiast, as Abby's voice is friendly and smart, and the photography is simply beautiful. I highly recommend The Herbal Handbook for Homesteaders as a good read and excellent reference.

Simple, yet elegant intro to herbalism

A great book introducing people to herbalism, it’s benefits, and tips and techniques for making your own herbal remedies. Recipes covering a variety of ailments or to support general health are easy to make with step by step instructions and pics. Abby keeps things simple and starts the reader off with a few plants to get acquainted with so as to not overwhelm.

A must have

This guide is amazing! I know I will use it for many years to come as I explore the world outside my door. As a formally trained botanist I am often disappointed in plants guides for lacking strength in one area or another, but this guide leaves nothing out! I love the layout, easily understood recipes and detailed plant descriptions. Abby has put her strong soul to paper and the result is a powerful contribution to the botanical world and those who enjoy its wonder.

Great reference

I have greatly enjoyed this book lots of details and great recipes etc I haven’t put it down much since I got it. Great reference and writer tells the details. thank you

Awesome lessons from a skilled herbalist

This is an amazing compilation of herb knowledge and instruction! I met Abby years ago when I was reconnecting with nature. She has been a great herb teacher of mine that helped me build my foundation. Beacause of her skills I confidently can ID plants on my walks in the woods and make medicine for my family. If you ever have a chance to work with her in person take the advantage! This book is a beautiful display of go to remedies to play with along with plant information that is easy to understand and follow. Do not hesitate to buy this one!!

Useful resource

WHat a great book. I have worked with and around plants for most of my life, but I was still able to learn some new information in this book. The author did a great job putting this all together. I would recommend it to anyone interested in herbs.
