RAW & REAL. GRIT & GRACE

The Fight to Flourish. 🥊🌿 When I heard Pastor Jennie on a Sunday announced that she wrote a book/ not just any book- but a book with THIS title? I bursted into tears. I’ve never related to a title so strongly before in my life. I couldn’t WAIT to read it. This book was written from a struggle-from the thick of a fight and the most heartbreaking reality that we can face in this life- death. This book was written with a credible source as the author. A story of struggle. A struggle to even just breathe again when the air is knocked out of you- rendering you to a paralyzed state. Yet, any crushing circumstance placed into the Father’s hands has to be resurrected. Resurrection is who He is. It’s what He does. From the death of a seed that goes into the grown, at the right time, a flower springs forth- what you thought what was dead was really only just planted. That is this book. From the ground of grief- life & hope springs up again. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book and luckily for me I was added to be a part of this launch group that was able to read it before the rest of the world. I needed this book at this time and place in my journey and what feels like the biggest fight my life. I read it within a few days of it being in my hands. It has stirred up my faith in the best possible way. To keep going & growing. Keep trusting. I recently know all too well what it has felt like getting punched & knocked out by circumstances out of my control- but still longing for an abundant life that God could still use. Fighting for beauty in this life in the midst of such hard things. Little did I know/ and that God-already knew- (of course he did) that while I read the most tragic chapter in this story which happened to be (Good Friday) - Jennie losing her precious daughter & then going to heaven. Gut punch. Not even an hour later I would receive some of the most devastating news in my whole life and in my own story. I do believe that God prepared me to receive this news by reading that chapter that same morning. There is no questioning it. God doesn’t waste our pain- I’m thankful I had this book in the palm of my hands (on my iPhone kindle app) the same morning I found out my precious father was diagnosed with cancer. Knocked the wind right out of me. Blow after blow. But He is still here, He is still with me. Fighting for me & with me. & this book is a tangible gift showing me His presence in this time. He gives and takes away but bless it be the name of the Lord. He is still good- even in this pain- there is still TIME to fight the good fight. And that right there is the blessing. Jenny talks about boxing rounds. Being in the ring of life, fight after fight. A fight for our life- a fight for honor a fight for joy- A fight to push aside our feelings & replace them with His truth & His promises. A fight to show up for people that need us most. A fight for sweetness & not bitterness –a fight to flourish no matter what circumstances may come at you. Jenny I am so sorry that what caused you so much pain caused you to write this book. This is your testimony, your God story of how He showed up for you- your testimony that is bringing strength to those of us who are in a fight to flourish in our lives too- no matter what comes our way. Thank you for waking up every day and continuing to show up to your fight. You give a huge dose of courage for those of us that need to show up for ours. I don’t know why God allows such suffering and heartbreak but I do know that it has a way of producing something far greater in our lives that we could ever know. Jennie’s quote is resonating with me: & that truth I want to share with everyone I know & love- “I don’t have to understand God in order to trust Him.” Jennie, Thank you for writing this book - it’s so brave. & thank you for trusting God with your greatest pain & your story. He promises to use it for good. You’re giving us the gritty courage to trust Him with our story too... with God as our backing- in our corner of the ring. 🥊🙏🏼 Sorry my review was so long. But this book was SO good. This world needs this message SO bad. I know I did. ❤️

Fight to Flourish is a WINNER

Wow! I knew it would be good. But the raw, heart wrenching, honesty and insight into Jennie’s loss as a mother and her journey through grief is stunning. (Many of my pages are tear stained already) The fight, to realize her God breathed potential, through the pain is laid out plainly for the world to read and learn from. It’s inspiring and encouraging on so many levels! Thank you for gifting the world with this book.

Wow, incredibly honest, raw, and beautiful!!!

In The Fight to Flourish Jennie takes the reader on a journey through some of her darkest days after the unexpected passing of her 5 year old daughter just a few days before Christmas. She doesn't hold back, sharing some of her journal entries with deepest regrets, insecurities, and struggles while fighting to flourish in the midst of such trauma. Do you feel alone in your struggles? Are you in need of some hope? Order this immediately! It will be a healing balm to your soul.

A LIFE GIVING BOOK

This book is LIFE-GIVING! We all endure hardships and pain. This book is written by a mom who has experienced the pain of losing a child. This is real practical nitty-gritty truth that will truly help you FIGHT to FLOURISH in every season! IT IS A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!

Flourishing despite times of drought!

This book is so excellent! Jennie Lusko has such a heart for those who are hurting or going through grief or any kind, yet she wants to see them grow and flourish! This book is beautifully written from a sweet and gentle place, yet encouraging you to grow and flourish in your life! So thankful for this book!

One of the most refreshingly raw books I have read in years!

Jeanie Lusko will leave you feeling like you just made a friend for life. Her easy flowing writing style will make you feel like you’re sitting across the couch from her drinking coffee while she shares the hard won truths in her battle to flourish in the midst of tragedy. The journal entries she shares are raw and gut wrenching but will fill you with hope that you, too, are going to make it. Her stories are fresh, real, and relatable and will cause you to cry with her one minute and laugh with understanding the next. While I have never had the privilege of meeting her or even hearing her speak- I hope to one day do both!

More than a pretty aesthetic

This is an eloquently written, intentional, practical, powerful read and you do not want to miss this opportunity. Although Jennie is a female and many illustrations are directed toward females this is not a book for just women this is a book for everyone, do not limit its power! Every one of us is fighting might as well fight to flourish!

Read it! You won’t regret it!

Through Jennie’s book you will see she is the perfect example of completely diving into a hard situation. Learning from it and strengthening others through her experience. All of us face hard situations, things we have to battle. Though our battles may not be the same as Jennies, this book will definitely give you the encouragement you need in whatever battle you are in. You will learn that you need the darkness of the battle to help you flourish. Jennie’s use of imagery through plants and boxing really help emphasize all her points. You will be left with visual real life examples that will point you to Jesus. After reading I was left encouraged and truly saw the beauty of continuing my fight to be who Jesus wants me to be. I highly encourage you to not only read the book but also do the Bible study and watch the DVD’s. You won’t regret it!

Not what I was looking for

The author shares her testimony of losing a child. If that's what speaks to you, then purchase this book. The author speaks well to pre and young Christians. Do not buy it for the title.

Beautiful

What a beautifully written book! I loved hearing her story and how she uses scripture as her strength. It’s hard to keep going when you go through storms. I’m glad I got to read this book. There are so many little gems that I love! ❤️

If I could give it a 10 I would

I wish I could reach out to Jennie personally and tell her how much this saved me. My husband and I have been in a very deep and dark battle the last few months with my mental health and hearing her heart laid out on the pages let me know that there is another in the fire standings next to me. Thank you Jennie for being oh so raw with your readers. Even though you don’t know me I for once felt heard by your emotions and it gave me hope that I’m not the only one who has felt these strong intense emotions. 🤍

Very inspiring...

This is a very inspiring book that motivates you, not by giving false hope, but by reminding us of the true hope that is already available to us, Jesus Christ. I was feeling bogged down by the stress of life (parenting, marriage, finances, etc) and got this book. I’m so glad I got it, this book is written so beautifully and reminds us that it’s the struggles of life that build the character God has authored for our life.

Incredible, Powerful, Honest and Encouraging

I loved the honesty in the realities of life and how Christ is with us through it all, healing, empowering, strengthening, and bringing comfort. The heavy times in life are hard but it’s often the place of growth, refinement in character and new life. Really appreciated this book, the Scripture she made sure to share is the foundation for the lessons she shared and the honesty (raw reality) of hardship healed me to know we’re not alone. Powerful read!

A Must Read For Anyone Seeking Wisdom And Guidance For How To Walk Through Painful Seasons Victoriously

I am typically not a reader but every now and then the Holy Spirit will lead me to a book that not only provides the comfort I need but every now and then the answers I’m seeking, spoken through one of His servants. It wasn’t just me reading a book, it was like sitting down at the table, having a cup of tea with a friend. Jennie, though I’llnever meet you in person, thank you for sharing your heart and your pain so candidly. It helped me so much in a weary and dry season.

A great book for anyone

This book was so well written. While Jennie is speaking from the point of having lost a child, how she frames dealing with life struggle by leaning on Christ is so perfect that it really is for anyone who is alive and has struggle.

Amazing book!

Amazing book! I highly recommend to anybody. We all go through life challenges and this book is so encouraging when walking through it. Jennie is an incredible writer with a story that is heart wrenching, but she makes it relatable. I love the Luskos!

Strong truths written authentically!

The words of this book will meet you where you are. They were written with authenticity. Jennie Lusko poured her heart and soul into this book. There are strong truths for the reader to hold onto that will help them through a season of pain and struggle. It will give you hope and strength as your reminded of where that comes from.

A loving God

This book is full of reminders about who God is, who's we are, and who we can be in Christ. Jennie uses so many analogies to bring God to life for everyday people. Jennie shares her heart, struggles, strength, and faith on these pages.

Life Changing!

I truly appreciate how authentic Jennie’s writing is in this book. Many times I found myself in tears aching for what Jennie and her beautiful family has been through. She shows tangible ways she draws strength from God and ways we can do the same in our personal circumstances. I’ve learned so many great treasures that are now engraved in my heart and mind that will definitely help me in my walk with God. And for that I’m truly grateful.

The journey through the pain

This is so touching I can understand as I’ve lost my twin daughter 11 years ago. Book highly recommend it’s raw and real and more then anything the journey God takes you as you’re facing the most unthinkable...

Life changing

I was raised in church so I know all the stories and the lingo. Jennie Lusko is so down to earth and real. This book spoke to me in a powerful way. 3 of the most powerful points I took away are: I am safe in His shadow, He is the answer to my ache within and I am His favorite. I just ordered the DVD set with study guide. Looking forward to delving deeper into this fight.

5 out of 5. Will be going back to

Profoundly Moving and Christ-Centered

In this deeply personal memoir, pastor’s wife Jennie Lusko shares hard-won wisdom about enduring through unimaginable hardship to still flourish in relationships and grow in Christ. In December 2012, her five-year-old daughter, Lenya, died in a sudden, traumatic way. Lusko writes about how this loss has affected her and her family, and shares insights into how she has held onto her faith in God even in this darkness. She shares excerpts from her old journal entries, reflects from her current vantage point, and writes about how she has fought back against guilt, self-blame, and shame over having not been a good enough mother to Lenya. This book could be very triggering to others who have lost children, but it is also incredibly encouraging and helpful, because it shows how a family can endure this kind of pain without falling apart. Lusko is incredibly vulnerable and honest about her own struggles, even mentioning the suicidal thoughts that she had after losing her daughter, but she also shows that it is possible to flourish even in the darkest circumstances. These life lessons apply to other forms of loss and suffering as well, and Lusko consistently points her readers to Christ, showing that it is possible to grow spiritually even in the midst of doubts, questions, and pain. The Fight to Flourish: Engaging in the Struggle to Cultivate the Life You Were Born to Live is a deeply personal, encouraging book. It is full of good advice and biblical teaching, and because Jennie Lusko is so honest about her own struggles, pain, and insecurity, she is able to write about spiritual realities in a vivid, personal way. This book can deeply encourage other women who are in various difficult circumstances, and is a strong testimony to God’s work in the author’s life.

Inspiring and Heartfelt

From cover to cover this book is beautiful both inside and out. I felt so inspired reading through this book and stopped to make notes several times. “Easy doesn’t make you stronger” Jennie Lusko is a woman of strong faith. As a pastors wife she has raised her children to love God and they are surrounded by people who lift them up daily. When Jennie’s five year old daughter is taken from them the whole community is shaken. The family knows sweet Lenya is in a better place, twirling in her princess costume, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Through pure determination Jennie will decide to move forward putting one foot in front of the other until she’s not only surviving, but thriving. This book helps remind you that good can come out of bad, focus on what your have and not what you lost, and to appreciate everything even if it seems small. Sometimes we don’t get a second chance to tell someone we love them or we don’t know the last time we hugged someone it would be the last. We’re all busy and looking to the days to come instead of living the day we’re in. I am thankful Jennie shared her story and Lenya’s life will live on in her words. This book is all about having the “Fight to Flourish” Dont let setbacks stop you from achieving your goals and believe in yourself because you are worthy. Enjoy the process because everyday we’re alive we have the chance to be great.

Powerful!!

What a wonderful book! This is for anyone who has been through a difficult time in life and unsure of how you can survive in and still thrive. Jennie Lusko poured her heart onto these pages. I have been crying and laughing all the way through it. Raw. Real. A true testimony of how God has a plan for your life even when it’s difficult to see it through the clouds.

Wow, God. Wow!

What an inspiring testimony of faith, of striving through the hardships and pain of life to trust in the thing that our Lord and Savior is doing for and on the inside of us. We are not meant to live perfect lives, for this world is full of sin, not the place God intended in His Creation. But, He does have that heavenly place for us, His Promise, He does invite us to the heavenly Eden at the appointed time. I'm so grateful for our God, I'm so in love with Him. Heavenly Father, may You show me what You are doing on the inside of me, may You create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me per Psalm 51:10. May You bless the Luskos, and continue to do more than they could ever ask or imagine in their lives. Bless this family, Lord. In Yeshua's Name. Amen.

A perfect read for RIGHT NOW!

As I've read through this book, all I've been able to think was, "wow, that was what I needed right when I needed it." The message is definitely timeless, but though it was written before the craziness that's happening in the world right now, it feels like it was written specifically for a season like this. Where every step forward feels like a fight. But it's a fight that can be won with the strength that Christ gives! It's so encouraging to hear that you're no less for having to fight for a flourishing life, but that you're flourishing all the more because of the fight! So thankful that Jennie had the courage to write this book out of her deepest heartache to help walk people through their own struggles, pains, fights and hurts.

Beautiful Story, loved this book.

I flew through this in a day, it was so good! I was expecting a difficult, depressing read, and it is not that at all. The author uses her experience, including passages from her journal during that time, and her love of boxing, spin, and most importantly her faith to heal and eventually write this book to try and help others as they go through their own struggles. There were many things in here that I could relate to and therefore this book was helpful to me. She is real, honest, raw, and quite funny in some parts which was a nice, needed break. This is a relatable book that anyone can use, no matter what they are going through to help them see that it is a moment in time, no matter how difficult that moment seems. Thank you to @tlcbooktours, @thomasnelson, and @jennielusko for the free copy to review.

Life Changer!

WOW! This book has been a tremendous blessing to my life! 100% God sent! Initially, when I read the description of the book- I had made up my mind that I couldn't wait to buy a copy for my best friend who has endured so so so much heartache in her life, and I always feel like Im at a loss of encouragement since I haven't experienced the same things. When she received her copy- she would message me continually how much God is speaking to her through the book and how amazing it was she was not able to put it down. so then- I purchased it. FIRST the AUDIO- and after only reading the Intro I WAS HOOKED. This isn't just for those that may be going through a tough season but the truth is- at some point- we all WILL. We all will pass through a circumstance in life that feels like we just don't have the strength and by reading this book, I feel equipped, encouraged and hopeful that with Christ- anything really is possible! THANK YOU JENNIE! You are such an inspiration! God Bless you always!

So helpful!

Reading the few "critical reviews" made me giggle. One guy left 1 star because his book smelled bad... As if that has anything to do with the Author OR the books content. The other critical reviews, from the atheist.. 1 star rating for it "not being what they're looking for because it talks about God". If you are new to learning how to read, or new to learning how to purchase a book online, my advice would be to read the Author's introduction to the book first. It's been taught since preschool to not judge a book by its cover. Unfair 1 star ratings. Ok now that's off my chest. This book is wonderful and incredibly helpful. Most of us have been through a season of grief and hearing the encouragement and real life feelings that follow grief helped me so much. The Author has such real emotions as she reads. I will recommend this to everyone I know. Much love Jennie Lusko!

The book reminded me true purpose and meaning of my life.

“What Goo does in you isn’t just for you. As you lean in to front row living, He wants to not just do the beautiful work in you but to work through you to strengthen those around you.” Jennie Lusko Since her daughter passed from asthma attack at age five the author had struggled to continue her life as the mother of four children and pastor’s wife. Her vulnerability is related to any woman. Enjoyed especially unique audiobook with recorded church service, music and conversation with Levi Lusko, her husband at end.

Raw and encouraging

No matter your struggle, if you are in a dark pit, this book is for you. Jennie doesn’t hold back. She brings out the rawness that is grief and struggle, yet presents exactly what it looks like to flourish even through that rawness of pain. What time for this to released!

A MUST Read!!!

I recently listened to the audio version of Jennie's book, Fight to Flourish, through HooplaDigital. This book is AMAZING! Jennie shares how she has grown closer to the Lord through the pain, heartache, and loss of their daughter. I respect and admire her vulnerability as she opened up in such a real and raw way. She brings scripture to life as she shares the words the Lord used to remind her of His presence throughout her grieving process. Whether you are grieving the loss of a loved one or friend, an estranged relationship, divorce, job loss, etc., Jennie's story and process of healing will help remind you of how much God loves you, even when life feels unbearable.

An Important Book for All!

If you’re looking for a real world, practical and Godly perspective to dealing with pain or difficulties in your life, THIS IS YOUR BOOK. Jennie Lusko and her husband Levi have devoted their lives to leading people with biblical and practical wisdom coming from their own experience of losing their beautiful and precious daughter Lenya. This book is so beautifully written for all people to see the Power in pain, to flourish within a high-stress environment, and to learn to worship God in the midst of dark times. Reading this book will equip you and help you help others in your life grow strong and beautiful no matter what circumstances come your way.

Honest.

Very honest and easy to read book about getting knocked down in life. Life has a way of cutting too deep for you to survive on your own and Jennie walks you through her journey and her survival skills to make it through. But not just to survive, to thrive. I wish no one had to go through pain like hers but she shows how to walk through it with the only one who can put the pieces back together, God.

Gripping & Honest

This is a gem! Jennie writes from the heart & includes her journal entries after the death of her daughter until now. The everyday struggles she endures are common to all of us. She explains with such honesty & grace how to flourish when you feel like you are failing & gives key bible verses & encouragement to thrive. The book is like having a conversation with a friend. It was hard to put down

Great Book, Hard To Get Through The Raw Moments

I love this book! I normally can sit and listen to a book in one day or two at the most. This one was a bit harder because it hit me so hard, my heart ached as the journal entries were read. I felt that emotion, although in a different circumstance, I felt Jennie's grief. I had to stop and cry and meditate a bit before I could continue. It was very encouraging, very raw, thank you so much for this beautifully written book. I couldn't stop thinking of my 6 year old who sounds very much like Lenya. Thank you for putting life into perspective, into a different perspective for me. Thank you so much for this book!

A Must Read!

Jennie's book was inspired by the fight she fought to flourish after the death of her sweet daughter Lenya. At a time when I needed to know I was starting from the finish line because God has already run this race called life for me, The Fight to Flourish was an answer to my prayers! This book will inspire you and give you the basic principles for fighting to flourish in your life. Thank you Jennie Lusko for showing me how to turn tragedy into triumph (reminding me to just keep showing up) and for being a solid gold image of a godly woman for me to follow!
