Was beyond excited to get this, introduce my daughter to foods I've seen in games for the past 20 years. She finds the honey brittle and wants to make it. We start getting everything ready, heating up the honey and sugar. Then it says "add the water" that's it. Provides no amount of water to add. We winged it and used 1 cup and its garbage and didnt work. There is no mention of how much water to use anywhere. There needs to be a revision

Know How to Cook and Make Bread Before Buying This.

First thing I want to say is that while I'm only giving this 3 stars, I still love the cookbook. It's beautifully pictured, it all feels very Elder Scrolls like and it has some good recipes. However, a lot of the ingredients can be hard to find if you don't live in a big city with lots of options; especially with the spices. I had to turn towards the internet to find culinary lavender, savory and mace. No one in my town sells venison or goat and I have only one Asian market who sells duck (with the head attached 🤮). I've made a few recipes, including all the spices and most have turned out as expected. Grilled Leaks was a bust first time around because of how long it tells you to boil them. Definitely don't boil them for as long as it says. Do it for only a minute or two and then grill them. I did it as the recipe calls for and they were soggy, chewy, onion flavored green, stringy things. Did it a second time with boiling for 1 minute and 30 seconds and it was pretty darn good. The third time I skipped boiling and just sautéed them and they were absolutely delicious and perfect. The rustic mustard is really good, but it does make more than just one cup. I love it. I use it for everything (i.e. sandwichs, burgers, corn dogs, hot dogs, brats, etc). It has a very similar taste to Dijon and I totally dig it. My brother is currently aging the Blackbriar Mead and the Honningbrew Mead so we'll find out how that turns out in a few months. My issue with the mead is that it says you can drink the Blaclbriar Mead 2 weeks after and that is not true, we tried and I think we died. I've made the Honey Lavender Bread 3 times and every time was terrible. There is way, WAY too much flour, it never cooks in the center, despite the clean toothpick, and the outside is hard as a rock - it sounds as if I'm knocking on a door. I don't know what I'm doing wrong because I've followed the recipe to a T. The only thing I can think of doing is not using 4 cups of flour and switching to just one type instead of two. I've researched bread and how to make it and the recipe just doesn't add up to what I'm seeing from bread makers. So there's that. Also, I tried the porridge and it was super watery with entirely too much vanilla. Cut the vanilla back, don't use as much water and bam! It was amazing on the 2nd attempt. I was beyond disappointed with the first try because, for whatever reason, I was most excited to try that. I guess it's because I've never had true porridge before. Mostly because grits are amazing and I hate oatmeal. The other stuff I've made like the Horker Loaf, mulled wine, cider, Water of Life (you will die if you drink it), sweet rolls, and risotto was delicious. Again, Iove this cookbook but unless you know 1000% what you're doing then many of the recipes are bound to fail a few times. I'm just hellbent on mastering the Honey Lavender Bread.

Beautiful Book with Wonderful Recipes

I am a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan, and I love to cook and bake so I OBVIOUSLY had to pre-order this book the moment I knew it existed a few months back! I just received to book today and I have to say it is absolutely stunning! The cover is beautiful - I love the glossy accenting on the matte cover - and all of the pages are in vivid full color. It is making me want to fire up Skyrim again and start a new adventure, I find myself missing my Argonian husband and our little nest! So I open this beauty and start reading through the recipes. I can’t wait to try every. Single. One! I’m literally making one of the recipes right now - Lavender and Honey Bread - and I’m so excited to taste it! I own another of Chelsea’s books - “A Feast of Ice and Fire: The Official Game of Thrones Companion Cookbook” - so I already knew her recipes are magnificent. I knew this book wouldn’t disappoint! There are recipes for all skill levels so I truly believe there is something for everyone! I highly recommend this book to ALL fans, whether they cook or not!

A perfect gift for any Skyrim lover who loves to Bake!

I ordered this for my sister-in-law who loves Skyrim as a Christmas present. When I ordered it I expected another kinda gimmicky game tie-in that had a couple recipes and some references to the game. What we got was so much better! This arrived in the mail today and it's beautiful! It's got dozens of recipes each with cooking instructions, lore, and full page photos of the finished products. They even have spice mixtures (like Nord Spices) to serve as a 'base' for dishes from that culture! She has done nothing but giggle excitedly since she saw it and is so excited to try out the recipes! I bought it for $16 (currently sitting at around $20) and I really feel like it is a steal for such an immersive high-quality book. There really was a lot of love put into this and I'm so glad that it's not just some gimmick! I'll try to update once we've tried out some of the recipes.

Amazing!

I was so excited when this arrived today. I have been reading through it, and it is incredibly awesome. While not every recipe looks tempting to me, there are so many that do look tasty that I'm unsure where to start. I'm sure the ones that I am less interested in are still going to be tasty for those that are. It even has mead and cordial recipes! I'm going to make so many delicious things! Cons: I went to make the boiled cream treats (pg 153), and found that it says to bake them for 12-15 minutes, but does not say at what temperature to bake them. I am hoping 350 works.

Easy recipes from Tarmial for the traveling Dunmer

Redguard rice and imperial spice are now a part of my daily life. Throughout my travels I have been fortunate to find grains of paradise, ground mace and savory though I can imagine it will be difficult for some of the small villages to acquire. The sweet rolls are just as I remembered them to be and the Ash Yams remind me of home. I am glad that I could have such a treasure in my collection to bring with me as I journey across the regions and into the Black Marsh. Perhaps there I can find another version of the book that will have the infamous Wamasu Loin. *Some of the ingredients asked for in the book can be difficult to find. Amazon does provide a wide rage of spice, like grains of paradise, but if you don't feel like spending the change a good black pepper will suffice. Lamb, an ingredient difficult to find outside of a butcher, can be substituted for ground turkey or beef. The results are equally delicious as the lamb and easier on the coin purse. There is a beautiful section on how to brew meade but a word of warning: As an individual who brews this can be a very expensive and tricky process. I do recommend buying a simple bottle of honey meade and adding things to it unless you enjoy a 3-9 month challenge.

I'm keeping this forever!

I've always loved Skyrim and when I heard T.E.S the official cookbook was coming out I just had to have it. Urag gro-Shub at the college of Winterhold was looking for this one..unfortunately I will not be giving it into him because ITS MINE NOW. It arrived a few hours ago at my front gate and I couldn't wait to check it out. Now I don't have the ingredients to make and eat any of the things in here at the moment, however I can rate it based on other things that I really like. This book is laid out quite well..and when I open it up and look for a recipe, I feel like I'm in the world of Skyrim looking through a book..that's like the only way I know how to describe it right now. Every page has the recipe on the right and a beautiful ultra high res picture of it on the left and not only that but the pages with the recipes on them have a Skyrim themed background to them. Not only is it beautifully made, but as a plus there is also a page at the beginning dedicated to telling you what dishes go with what races of Tamriel and how the dishes reflect their culture. All in all this cookbook is really nice and I wasn't exactly sure what to expect since there is only a hand full of pictures on the product page. You can always look up a recipe online however I appreciate holding a beautiful physical copy of them like this book, like a true Nord! I'm going to become a chef one day soon and well this cookbook is just adding to my passion. If you guys buy this cookbook you should not be disappointed, well unless you burn your knee in the kitchen or something.

Great collectable, decent cook book.

If you are a seasoned chef or an experienced cook, this book will provide a good base for several new recipes. Unfortunately, whoever edited this cook book made several glaring flaws. Several of the recipes instructions call for ingredients in quantities not specified in the ingredient list (honey comb brittle). Other recipes neglect cooking instructions (boiled cream treat baking temperature). This could be a five star item, if the author came out with an errata.

Meads Instructions

Let me just start off by saying the cook book is great!... My only complaint is the quick meads section of the book. My roomate and i were so excited to make the black briar mead, as it is one of the few recipes from the game that are recognizable, and arent just "nord" themed. The whole process seemed really approachable from the way it was written, and i went and bought everything (I thought) I needed to make the mead. Unfortunately our kitchen ended up exploring with huge shards of glass, syrup, yeast and blackberries, when the seal I bought for brewing was not the correct one. There is absolutely NO warning in this book, or descriptions of correct products needed in order to avoid the massive syrup bomb that imploded due to what I now know is Co2 build up from frementing. For some people this may be common knowledge, but being an absolute layman in home brewing I thought that this book would provide adequate information for people like me... it did not. If you buy this book and want to do a home brew, do not be seduced by the easy to follow instructions, please do your research and find out what is needed -dont rely upon this book for information (outside of recipe measurements). What we did taste from the floor was pretty good though! I can't wait to try the mead in an actual glass, and not in between chunks of glass!

Love this Cook Book!

I pre-ordered this book for a friend for his birthday. He already had the Fallout Cookbook so this would be a great addition to his collection. We had tried a few of the recipes from the Fallout book (like homemade Nuka Cola!) and loved them. When the Skyrim Cookbook arrived I was not disappointed. The book is high quality with a beautiful, full page , full color picture of every dish. The pictures themselves are amazing. The setting pieces give me ideas for dishes I want to buy to enjoy these amazing recipes on. The recipes themselves are great. After flipping through the book my wife, who is NOT a gamer and has never played Skyrim (I know! I know! I'm working on that) asked me to buy her a copy of the cookbook. So, of course, I did. My son and I are both Celiacs (Gluten-Free). The recipes seem to be easily adjusted to our particular needs (my friend has already made the proper adjustments to a couple recipes from the Fallout book). Oh, and the recipes call for ingredients that I have never heard of before - Star Anise? For the Fallout recipes we had to go explore Asian grocery stores and search online for some of the more esoteric ingredients. It was an adventure just to gather the proper component for our brews. For me, that is a bonus. A real life Skyrim quest! Buy this book, your stomach will thank you! (Maybe your wife will too!)

Something for everyone!

I've known I was autistic for a few years, but only today with the arrival of the cookbook did I realize that the Elder Scrolls is a special interest of mine. I can't stop wiggling and/or flapping as I read this cookbook cover to cover! This book covers so much, and is so diverse in food types; there's really something for everyone!

Must have for Elder Scrolls fans!!!

Everything about this book is perfect with minor things. Mostly concerning personal preference. The "grilled leaks" would definitely be better, after they're boiled, to be placed cut-side up, under the broiler, rather than fried in a pan. Considering the had been boiled, pan frying leaves them slightly mushy. Also, I found the "Argonian swamp shrimp boil" to be a little heavy with the soy sauce. I'd personally use about half the recipe instructed amount. I as attached an image of my family dinner tonight. It consist of: boiled cream treats, grilled leeks, and double-baked potatoes.

Interesting concept, Recipes not that great

Standard recipes dressed up in thematic spice mixtures puts a new twist on them. Some of the baked items (like Sheogorath's Tart) were wonderful and others (like the famous Sweet Roll) were duds. The Salmon Wellington was one of the successes, and then I noticed that nearly everything with vegetables has leeks and carrots... everywhere you look, leeks and carrots... hmmm. However, the recipe for Spiced Butter is worth the price of the book. It turns everyday toast into the cinnamon toast my mother used to make. Turns a baked sweet potato into a pumpkin pie, I kid you not.

Great

I was expecting a short book with just a few recipes in it, only to get it and it has 189 pages. Some of the recipes I will NEVER try (I’m looking at you apple and cabbage soup and grilled leeks), but for the most part they all look amazing. It comes with spice recipes, baked, meat, drinks (alcoholic ones too, yes) soups and lore written into the first few pages. I’m very happy with it and would recommend it to other Elder Scrolls fans.

Recipes Inaccurate, Very Expensive and Unappetizing

The recipes are poorly edited so you have to just interpret the correct way to make them. Reference my photo for a recipe that calls for 2hrs of rising time, but starts by telling you to immediately turn on the oven and ends with just putting the bread right into the oven as soon as you've mixed it. Also, it calls for kneading, but not for yeast. You don't use Baking Soda in this type of bread. It came out hard as a rock, just like I expected. I've made 3 recipes so far. Each one more disappointing than the last. Also, I had to order several of the ingredients online cause they're uncommon. Spent $32+ on one meal of a chowder and bread just to have it be barely edible. Finally, the food just isn't that appetizing... Skyrim is my favorite game and I've been cooking since I could walk. I'm very disappointed.

Defects on arrival.

First let me start by saying that I am a long time Elder Scrolls fan and when I saw this I had to have it!! My pre order arrived today and I love it!!! I find it to be lore friendly with a touch of humor at the beginning, and good recipes. I cannot stress enough that content wise this is definently a five star book. However, my copy did arrive with defects and imperfections. I don't mind that the corners are somewhat worn as that isn't too noticeable, but there is a streak (see image) that runs down the front cover which probably wouldn't come off if I tried. Depressing.....may exchange it, but....since the book arrived in a box with no protective wrapping whatsoever I am worried that the next one would arrive in worse condition. EDIT: Initially I rated this a four star due to the problem mentioned above. However, I am pleased to say that I did end up exchanging it and the new one came today and is perfect, no beat up corners or weird streaks, flawless. The second book did not come in a box this time either but instead arrived in an envelope lined with bubble wrap, much better! This one is finally ready to cook (─‿─)

Arrived damaged, but high quality product.

The book arrived with a slight cut indented straight down the middle of the front cover, black smudges and stains on the back cover at the bottom, and scuffed binding. Thankfully, unless you’re in direct lighting, it’s *relatively* difficult to notice. Aside from that, the artwork (and the attention to detail) is amazing. Many fan favorite dishes (including the infamous swretroll) are included. Some sections are definitely a bit overdone - such as having 40 pages of race lore, an “I used to be an adventurer” story from the author, etc - before you actually start to get cooking, but the amount of time that she put into getting it all right more than makes up for it. Owners of the other Insight Editions cookbooks may be hesitant due to the other books having bizarre ingredient requirements (if you own the Fallout or Warcraft book, you’ll understand!) - but this one is also much better. Some recipes have the same issue, but we’re back down to flour, rye, molasses, honey, and things like that in terms of ingredients. I am stoked! Overall, I’d give the book a solid 8/10, ignoring the damage. (6/10 factoring the damage - which is still acceptable.) As always, Ms. Chelsea has produced yet another well-written and beautiful book worth the investment from even someone as picky as myself. Definitely has a place in every fan’s kitchen!

Bland, tasteless and nOT GOURMET APPROVED

The book is beautiful, and a feast for the eyes, however when you actually start using it like a cookbook, the recipes really fall flat. When people think about elder scrolls, they think SWEETROLLS. That was obviously what I made first and they were disappointing to say the least. I bake 3-5 times a week, and not to toot my own horn, but I think I am a pretty decent baker, however that recipe was just beyond tasteless and bland. If you look online, you can find far better ones online for FREE. I’ve also made a few of the main dishes and side dishes, and they were mediocre to say the least. This cookbook is really only good for its beauty and novelty but not for much else. If you want a good nerdy cookbook, go for the WOW cookbook, now that one has some actually good recipes that are flavorful and tasty. And if you want elder scrolls specific recipes, just look online. This book really isn’t worth it.

Great book. Though there are quite a few missing steps to the recipes

I love the book over all. But there are a few typos and some of the recipes don't say when to use some of the ingredients. The canis root tea for example calls for a table spoon of burdock root but doesn't say when to add it to the tea. I can guess where and experiment but it was a bit of a let down to see these mistakes in an official product of the series

Some recipes are hits, some are misses

I've tried a couple of these recipes every week, and I've had good luck so far. I do appreciate that the ingredients overlap from one set of recipes to the next, so you won't have to buy a bunch of stuff that you'll only use once. (For instance, I used half a cabbage for the Apple Cabbage Soup and the other half for the Cabbage Biscuits and oh my god, both of those are very, very good.) I'm also super excited to try out all the mead recipes! That being said, the bread ingredient ratios are way off - if you bake the Honey Lavender Bread and the Braided loaf exactly according to instructions, the end products are insanely dry. So, be careful with the whole wheat flour proportions and be prepared to experiment a little bit/maybe reference a dedicated bread baking text alongside this book. Overall, I definitely recommend trying this book out - none of the recipes are overwhelming, and a few I can see becoming part of my go-to rotation =) Apple cabbage soup, I'm looking at you.

Excellent recipes, but riddled with mistakes

This is a beautiful book, and the recipes I've tried are wonderful. I love the pictures and some pages of the book have "stains" already, so I don't have to feel bad about the stains my favorite recipe pages eventually get. This book has fewer mistakes than the World of Warcraft book, but still far too many. Examples of mistakes I've found just flipping through: Grilled Leeks: You are instructed to cut the dark green off, leaving the root intact. In the last step, it tells you to put them in the frying pan cut-side down. Unless you're meant to fry them standing on their ends, you are supposed to slice them in half lengthwise at some point and the picture seems to back that up. Braided Bread: In this one, and many other recipes, it tells you in step 3 to preheat the oven to 450, then let the bread rise about an hour until doubled in size. Some ovens take a while to preheat, but not that long. (And for anyone wondering if it wants you to add half a cup of nuts and fruit combined or half a cup of EACH, add half a cup of each. I used a quarter cup of fruit and a quarter cup of nuts. It wasn't enough.) Honeycomb Brittle: The instructions say to add water, but not how much. I know water isn't usually listed in the ingredients, but this information is crucial for this recipe. Canis Root Tea: Burdock root is in the ingredient list, but never mentioned in the instructions. I know a lot of these aren't serious enough to ruin the recipes (except maybe the Honey Brittle) but that's far too many mistakes and I'm sure I'll find more as I continue to try new recipes. Overall, I recommend this book. Everything I've made so far has been excellent, even the braided bread. Every family member already has a favorite recipe. Just be sure to read the recipe ingredients and instructions well before you start to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Really Great Cookbook! **THOROUGH INSTRUCTIONS**

I have been playing elder scrolls for a few years and finally decided to grab the cook book. I was a little nervous when I read some of the reviews on here and they are NOT accurate. Each recipe comes with a photo of the finished recipe (which I love) you will find the list of ingredients needed on the left of the page with HOW MUCH of the ingredient you need. The instructions are then on the right. Please learn how to read a use a cookbook before actually trying to cook out of one. It will help you tremendously! I also love the little descriptions of each recipe and how they keep up with the elder scrolls theme and backgrounds of where that particular dish/recipe is coming from! I snapped a photo of the honeycomb brittle page to show an EXAMPLE of the layout. All recipes are laid out the same, photo on the left, recipes on right with ingredients and their amounts as well as instructions. 10/10 would recommend to all Elder Scroll fans!

Nerdy food porn

If you like food and the Elder Scrolls, this book will give you nommy nerd-gasms. Gorgeous photos, illustrations, and recipe descriptions. You don't have to know how to cook (or own a stove) to enjoy that aspect of the book. It's got the "food porn" angle covered When it comes to the recipes themselves, I think the book is worth having, but there are some issues. I have yet to make every recipe, so I'll update this review as I do. THINGS TO KNOW: #1 - Think the book is pricy? Wait until you get a load of the ingredients. Many are hard to find and the cost adds up quick. If you order them online, between alcohol, herbs, spices, and dried fruits (are juniper berries fruit?!) expect to spend at least $400. That doesn't include the venison, lamb, cheeses, or the gallons of honey you'll need. #2 - The old hippie lady at your local herb store is about to become your new best friend. Why? Every time you try a new dish, you'll be in there trying to chase down burdock root or dried currants or something. She is the key to you getting all the herbs you've never heard of for less than the cost of a college education. I went to my local herb shop and picked up 8 ingredients for $8. The herb store is your friend, not Amazon. #3 - When you try these weird spices/fruits/tree bits, you'll recognize a lot of them from your favorite international restaurants and want to put them in everything, so buy a little extra. The three basic spice mixes are delicious and fun to experiment with. Grains of paradise are now a pantry staple at my house. #4 - Making the Long Taffy Treat will make you cry. If you follow the directions, that is. It took me 3 tries to get my first batch of chewy candy ropes. Stir it constantly as it cooks, and bring it up to 280-290 degrees F. The recipe makes no mention of stirring and the proscribed 255 F will get you soupy puddles. So far I've made: Nord spices (I was like wtf until I got it wet) Stormcloak seasoning (put it on ur meat!) Imperial seasoning (makes green things kid-edible) Garlic bread (good, but it's basic) Long Taffy Treat (see above, great in mint flavor) Water of Life (kinda like tan, dill-y Jager) Skooma (omg I want more but I'm too drunk to stand up) Canis root tea (eewwwww!) Spiced Warm Milk with Honey (as in "honey, can you make me some before bed?" "Again!?") Nut & Seed Loaf (gross! Needs honey and spices!) Next on my list? Juniper lamb chops, Horker Loaf, or maybe Lavender and Honey Bread.

Complicated food, but good food.

I bought this mostly as a nostalgic joke gift for padding my bookshelf, but decided to give it a serious try. After having made a few of the recipes within the food actually isn't all that bad, but this is not a book for a person who's new to cooking or inexperienced with it. Depending on where you live a decent amount of the required ingredients will also be difficult to get your hands on, or are very seasonal-timed so you can only cook half the book during certain parts of the year. Juniper berries seem to be oddly present in a lot of things you think they wouldn't be found in, something like 60% of the recipes. While it does have alternative lifestyle recipes within such as vegan and whole-30, the overall theme of the book is for people with no dietary restrictions that don't mind eating full fat full sodium dishes and alcohol.

Just how I imagined it would be . . .

All those years of playing The Elder Scrolls. All the pilfering of homes and castles to find food items to keep our characters alive. Now arrived in a beautifully illustrated cookbook. The book came just in time as I recently committed to revisiting The Elder Scrolls from its first installment to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as the world awaits the next TES installment. That's thousands of hours of game play and game food-brought-to-life could not make a more perfect pairing for a gamer. This review is going to be a living review, and will be updated as I make each recipe. Each recipe review will be short and given asterisks to show my like or dislike of the dish. The max rating will be four asterisks. All recipes will be made according to the book instruction, with no deviation. Future attempts at some recipes that contain a deviation will be noted. Let's get right to it. May 2, 2020 Prepare Nord, Stormcloak, and Imperial Seasonings. Attempt the Horker Loaf and Imperial Mushroom Sauce. When reading through the recipes, I noticed that only a teaspoon (or less) is applied to the dish. I wondered how the dish flavor would turn out with so little seasoning given. Well, wonder no more, the seasonings are strong. Never in my life have I tried Marjoram or Savory. Surprisingly, I had these seasonings in the back of my spice cupboard, sealed and unopened. Good thing I didn't throw them away 10 years ago. Once prepared, the seasoning mixes put salt and pepper to shame. Horker Loaf (***). Before preparing this dish, I watched several YouTube videos and read several reviews. The reviews were mixed. Some tasters hated the dish on account of the grease and the oysters, and some tasters loved it. The recipe is generally a meatloaf recipe so I was not concerned about the grease, just the taste of the smoked oysters. My loaf came out perfectly, the garlic cloves did not burn on top and my bacon was wonderful. My husband and I ate this with the Imperial Mushroom Sauce and we both really liked the pairing. It was a heavy dish and I immediately went down for a nap after. For dinner, we tried another slice, although I kept the serving small because it is so rich. The oysters do lend an almost overpowering smokiness. I think more than 5 pieces of bacon would help, and next time around, I will use only half the can of oysters. Imperial Mushroom Sauce (****) The sauce was very easy to make, and it thickened up too quick so, as much as I did not wish to, I had to water it down with a bit more stock so that the sauce would be saucy. I started the sauce as the loaf was half way through cooking, so the two dishes came to a finish at the same time. The Imperial Seasoning is rich and flavorful. Very good. Next up, Snowberry Crostata!

Fantastic cookbook! Would recommend to any gamer, or anyone else!

I have the World of Warcraft cookbook by this same author, and I was excited to see that there was an Elder Scrolls one available as well. It is a well-bound book of high quality, and while I haven't been able to work my way through -all- the recipes, I have made quite a few so far. I have no complaints about the quality and taste of the food (although I had to look up what the heck "grains of paradise" were. Never heard of them. It's basically black pepper.), I do have some mild immersion disappointment. The Warcraft book was clearly written by someone who had played the game and was very familiar with the lore- possibly even a roleplayer. It seemed it was written from the viewpoint of a Pandaren, which is such a great take on a cookbook. The book was flawlessly immersive and wonderful, and is the best cookbook I own for that reason alone. This Elder Scrolls book, however, is rife with out-of-character, almost apologetic footnotes assuring people they can substitute whatever they want for any of the recipes. While I completely understand the reasoning for this, it really does sort of pull you out of the "world". It is also very heavily saturated with Nord recipes. I don't think there's one from the Altmer or Argonians at all. Perhaps the author is only really familiar with TES:V Skyrim, or is, in fact, a Nord herself. That part is not really at issue. It might have been nice to see a bit more reference to the other races, though, besides Nords. Again, I have no complaints about the recipes. Perhaps they're a little uninventive, but I think it seems that way only because of the immersion problems. The WoW cookbook, which is hands down the best in the author's series, has normalish recipes as well. They just seem so much better because of that full immersion. Where this TES book excels, and where the WoW (and other) books fail a little bit, is in the drinks section! I never would have considered doing infusions rather than mixed drinks! I cannot wait to try all the meads I have sitting around, soaking up new flavors! I give this book a 5 star rating because none of the complaints I have at all affect the quality of the actual recipes in the book. As a roleplayer, I think I just experience it a little differently than some. I have recommended it to all my gamer friends to add front and center, or perhaps right next to the WoW book, in their kitchens!

Okay if you're already a good cook for inspiration, but poorly written.

Fine as a source of inspiration if you're already a decent cook, not too good if you're not. Luckily I cook quite a lot so I was able to fix some thing on the fly as I went but ultimately this book has a lot of glaring issues in which it's arguably poorly written, sections of text that are less descriptive than they should be as well as arguably incorrect. One of the most glaring issues comes when it comes to some of the expectations set forth in some of the recipes, like expecting a pie dough to come together as written with less than a quarter cup of water, or making you book fold said pie dough multiple times even though the preceding instructions are for a typical easy/quick pie dough so there's no laminating that'd make book folding make any sense whatsoever. And in regards to personal opinion outside of just the actual quantifiable mistakes and misleadings the food tends to ask to be underspiced, a quarter of a teaspoon of a spice blend to season more than 3.5lbs of food is a little.... Optimistic? The same author also wrote the WoW cookbook and if I wouldn't have purchased both at the same time I'd have not bought one or the other based on my experience because it's more of the same there as well.

I used to be an adventurer just like you

I used to be an adventurer just like you, then I took an arrow to the knee. That's when I took up cooking! I knew I had to purchase a cookbook to conquer this feat though, as a guard to the city I really didn't get much time to learn. This book has made it simple for everyone. Hardcover, beautiful pictures, tasty recipes. It has been my go-to for cooking. You may not have ever taken an arrow to the knee like myself, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go out and buy this book and start cooking. If you have or haven't played the game you should still get this book. It's worth it for the recipes alone. IF you have played the game you will love to learn more about the characters, see the designs, look at the map, it's all well put together and more than I thought we would get.

Amazing cookbook!

I've just received my copy in the mail so I haven't had much time to try out the recipes, but here's my two cents on this book. The quality of the book itself is very similar to the previous Fallout cookbook; the corner was slightly dented in shipping, but there's large, gorgeous photos of every recipe and some maps and artwork in the front and back. The pages are printed on a glossy quality paper, and there's some flavor text on every page as well. Here's some key differences between the two books: -First of all and most notably, the ingredients are much easier to find. There's no esoteric expensive foods in here, like lotus bulbs and bison meat. Overall you should have no trouble finding what you're looking for at the grocery store. -The recipes seem to cater toward newer chefs more. There's now multiple levels of how easy a recipe is to cook (instead of just Easy, Normal and Hard), and there's a small diagram to compare difficulty. Since the ingredients are easier to find it should also be simpler to get started, since there's a good chance you already have some of the food in your household. Don't fret if you're looking for a complex recipe that's large enough for a gathering, though; there's several delicious-looking meals like the Juniper Lamb Chops that look impressive and are sure to please your guests! -The foods lean toward hearty recipes such as stews, roasts, and dumplings. If you love savory food this is the book for you! As with the previous cookbook there's multiple different desserts, drinks and appetizers along with the main entrees. There's lots of clever nods to the game and you'll find recipes for foods like Kwama Egg Quiche, Water of Life, and Goatherd's Pie. No matter what your experience level is in the kitchen you should be able to find something you'll enjoy making in here. Overall I love this cookbook and I can't wait to start creating some of these meals!

If you like this I strongly recommend the GoT cookbook by the same author!

The recipes are delicious! Also quite easy to follow if you have experience just being an at home cook! Many of the recipes are gluten-free, and there’s also lots of vegetarian options! There’s a dietary consideration section in the back along with measurement conversion charts!! There’s literally everything I could want- sauces & spice blends, drinks, appetizers, main courses and delicious desserts!! I love this book, and I love that you get factoids/tidbits from the game, in with the recipes! I’m more than excited to try all the recipes in this book, and also to try the recipes in the other cookbook The Game of Thrones: A Feast of Ice and Fire – The Official Companion Cookbook!!! This author – and her collaborator in the GOT cookbook - know what medieval fantasy fans want!

Beautiful and lore-friendly!!

This is officially my favorite cookbook ever! I couldn't resist making the preorder, and I'm so glad I did! The hardcover binding is very high quality. I love how the author incorporates so much Elder Scrolls lore into the recipes. Not only are the dishes delicious, but they are also immersive! I have always enjoyed cooking, but this brings my favorite Bethesda franchise alive in my kitchen! Couldn't be more pleased.

Ok recipes, need better proofreading

The recipes are fine, some are better than others. The spice mixes have great flavor. Many of the savory dishes are pretty bland and I had to double the salt and spices called for. The ingredients and instructions could use some revision. In the honeycomb brittle recipe, no water is in the ingredients list, but water is mentioned in step 2. So I have no idea how much water is supposed to go in. In the kwama egg quiche recipe, step two says to set aside the mixture you just sautéd, but this mixture is never mentioned again for the rest of the recipe. So what do you do with the mixture? Combine it? Feed it to dog? Put on an altar to Talos?

Neat on the Outside, Ultimately Disappointing

This was cool for the novelty, but in terms of utility this cookbook drops the ball. There is only a picture of the finished product, as prepared and edited by professionals, and the steps are not broken down very well considering there are no instructional images. I was also put off by the surprisingly cheap binding. The spine of my book was already broken by the time it reached my door, and every time I turn a page I can feel it getting closer and closer to falling apart completely.

What are you waiting for

You don't have to be dragonborn to get this book if you like to cook you should get it as the recipes in here are awesome! Everything I've made thus far has been incredible and so very tasty I feel as if I spoiled my taste buds. It's very simple and well put together anyone can follow the directions and make anything in here. There are plenty of recipes to go through. I'm not a vegetarian but if you are there are plenty of non meat recipes like soups, breads, desserts, drinks to make plus you can always sub any of the meat recipes with something else. I believe this is for everyone and if have ventured in Tamriel you absolutely must get this book for a true adventurer would have this, plus after taking an arrow to the knee you should have more time to spend in the kitchen making some incredible meals.

Lvl 1,000,000 Awesomeness Cookbook

This is a well written and truly fun cookbook. Both my boys and wife are huge fans of the Elder Scrolls and love this cookbook. As a spectator to the game I am familiar with the contents so it was nice to see how well thought out this was. A big bonus for us was everything was cross referenced..such as the spices...the book has the recipe for the spice mix and on the same page it has a list of all recipes it is used for and page number. This goes for all the recipes so it makes it super easy to navigate. Also the directions and guide on how to prepare the recipes is easier than most cookbooks. There are plenty of vibrant color photos to go along with each recipe and the photographs are well laid out to embrace the Elder Scrolls theme. We as a family highly recommend this cookbook for anyone who wants to have a fun and relaxing cooking experiance. Great Job!!

A beautiful book filled with high-level recipes

Skyrim's built-in cooking system is what lead me to searching for a recipe book. These are far more advanced than just throwing salt, cut up apples, and cabbage into a stew pot. The author even has specially designed seasonings that she offers up to the reader as a way to enhance the meals. I haven't tried to cook anything from this cookbook yet, and more than likely would change a few things since certain ingredients aren't readily available to me, but I hope that one day in the future I'll be equipped enough to test out a recipe. If you love Skyrim or the Elder Scrolls in general, this will be right up your alley.

Delicious, Accessible, and Fun Food

I've cooked over a dozen of the recipes in this cookbook and they're all absolute knockouts. For the most part, the recipes are rather easily accessible. The ingredients are relatively easy to come by, as are the spices needed for spice mixes. I only had to hunt online for about two or three spices to create all 3 spice mixes. All of my recipes have come out nearly perfect, and incredibly delicious. My honest to god single critique is that the portion sizes are too small--I often feel like for a full meal they should almost all be doubled. But perhaps that's my enormous appetite speaking. An excellent cookbook for both a TES fan or just a person who enjoys cooking. I love the recipes and I'd buy this for a friend or family member in a heartbeat.

Fun Theme / Great Recipes

My daughter watched me play Skyrim years ago and ended up getting into it when she was old enough. Now, she's a bigger fan than I was and also likes to cook. So, obviously, this is the gift for her. She's made probably 20 recipes out of the book and surprisingly for a themed book, 80% of them have been darn good. In fact, the recipes are better than most that I find on the internet with great reviews. Why am I reviewing this a few years after release? Because I'm presently eating the Goat Herder's pie that she just made and it's just so darn good!

A Beautiful Cookbook

I rarely purchase cookbooks anymore since you can find almost any recipe online if you do a search. However, this book is more then 'just' a cookbook; its sparks your imagination with its art and narration. Truly, it is a lovely artistic book with plenty of recipes that are tempting me to try, and the variety of recipes was much more then expected. I've done the grilled leeks and custard so far and they great...today will be the notorious SweetRolls. Minor complaints: mostly Skyrim sourced, there is little representing the recipes you encounter from Altmer, Bosmer, or ESO. This book also arrived with some damage (dented cover edge & some crumpled page edges). However, it wasn't enough to make me wish to send it back. This book was worth the money dispite some minor issues... and it is a feast for the eyes!

Fun cookbook!

Wonderful and playfully accurate cookbook! I long for Oblivion and Skyrim’s foods no more! I used to find my mouth watering while exploring inns and taverns, but thanks to this cookbook, I can make these treats for myself. As a vegetarian, pretty much every recipe can be adjusted to meet my dietary needs; except the meat only dishes lol. But they are all equally tasty no matter how you adjust! I’ve even made the basic “rye pie” dough completely vegan, and it came out just as tasty. I highly recommend this cookbook. It’s fun, easy to follow, and has so many genres of food and drink to make.

an amazing addition to the kitchen.

i only wish they had more for rabbit dishes and something for leg of goat. it's a surprising and very tasty selection to chose from including sweet, and savory, snacks and main dishes and they added in a drink section. this culinary instruction manual is a source of inspiration and we'll be making all of these dishes very soon. starting with the tarts and hand pies, and rounding it out with the baked white river salmon and some fresh honningbrew mead. i'm very pleased with this book. i want a second volume, i think there's room for one ;)

Prepare to buy ingredients online

I want to love this cookbook but finding the ingredients in a rural area with no Whole Foods made it tough. No one in our area sells things like grains of paradise, mace, savory, hibiscus, lavender, juniper berries. Even more common items like whole cranberries are hard to find. I've made a few recipes and found them to be largely hit or miss. The mead recipes will likely require you to do some research on how to make mead (I had to buy the yeast online). Fermenting requires some knowledge of what types of yeast to use, how to clean the bottles, etc. Also the sweet roll recipe was... awful. White bread with powdered sugar frosting. It tasted fine, but it was still not good.

Hearty recipes, sauces, breads, drinks, and easy enough for novice cooks.

I bought this as a gift for my young adult sons who play this game and are still developing their kitchen Witchery. They were ‘enchanted’ by the options and pleasantly surprised mentioning it matching the attention to detail of the game. I too found a few recipes I’d like to try and it is proving to make for some nice family time as we plan the next recipe to try together. Many times it seems books based off of games or series are pretty kitschy but the recipes in this book are approachable for novice cooks and the over tired among us seasoned sort. Hearty entrees and comfort food style and the first recipe they made from it was very tasty!

I bought this for the nerdiness, I use it because it is delicious!

I'm a big fan of the Elder Scrolls franchise, specifically Skyrim and that was enough for me to purchase this. I cook pretty much everything I eat and had never bought a cookbook before because I can find ideas on the internet and I like to do my own thing. With this book, in four days I have already made 10 recipes (thankfully I hosted a family dinner so I had an excuse) and everyone is delicious. The author combines spices in ways that I would not think I would like and they turn out amazing and like something I would expect in the game. I will say that she says to cover the garlic in the horker loaf, but if you expose it a little, it gets a burnt tip which makes it look a little more like a tiny tusk. I fully recommend this book if you like the game or like to cook even just a little!

Fun recipes

Love it. It encourages you to experiment. Some of the recipes can be intimidating. Looking forward to trying to make a mead. Most (so far that I've tried) of the recipes are great! Salt your dishes to taste, and I always add more pepper and the special seasonings too. If you are a novice in the kitchen, these recipes can seem intimidating and don't offer a ton of direction. A passion for learning and being ok with failing (I burned the garlic bread!) Is important, but you'll find favorite recipes.

Beautiful book, but I hope all the recipes are complete!

I love the book and all the recipes look amazing. I wanted to try something based on ingredients I had in my kitchen and went with the honeycomb brittle. But I noticed it's missing the amount of water. So I can't try it yet. I hope the other recipes are complete because I really want to make all of these things! It's a beautiful book to look at otherwise, but it needs to be functional. I wish Amazon would let people ask questions about the book so someone can supplement the recipe!

Not Just a Great Novelty Cookbook

I bought this for the novelty of having "Elder Scrolls" recipes to try. It turns out this is one of the best cookbooks I've ever had. Nearly every recipe is outstanding. The real gold in the book is the spice mixes. "Nord spice" is so good it works on nearly everything, and the other two main spice blends liven up a lot of our other dinners, even when we don't cook from the book. I highly recommend the Horker Loaf (meat loaf), Elsweyr Fondue, and of course, the Sweet Roll. Makes a great family night activity, and an unforgettable meal.

Now I'm Cooking Like a True Dovahkiin :)

I love the Elder Scrolls series and when I heard there was a cookbook coming out for it I was ecstatic! I've made several recipes from this book so far and enjoyed each of them. I love how many of the in-game foods have been translated in this book. For the most part the steps are easy to follow. My one gripe is that some of the ingredient substitutions are either vague or just not stated at all, which can be frustrating sometimes. But hey, Skyrim's game engine has weird bugs, so I consider a corresponding cookbook with a few weird details to be "lore-friendly". Overall, I'm glad I bought this recipe book and would recommend it to anyone who's a fan of the TES series.

Know how to cook and know this is mostly for Skyrim fans

Good quality, thick, beautiful book with high quality pictures and amazing graphic design. These recipes are really fun, and while they do have different difficulty levels listed to warn you, I think being an experienced cook helps you make sure recipes of all levels turn out correctly. They're mostly recipes from many different cultures around the world. My advice is to take a look at some of the recipes online from those cultures and make modifications to what is suggested in the book. Like saltrice porridge is basically arroz con leche, and there are many videos of people online making interesting versions of the dish that are better than the one in the book. Also keep in mind, if you're a huge Elder Scrolls fan like me, this book mostly contains recipes from Skyrim and is told from either a Nord or Imperial perspective. To my disappointment, there are only two recipes from Morrowind, which is my favourite game. Overall, super fun read just for the lore tidbits and the ideas to work off of. Don't use it like a cooking Bible though. It's not the best versions of those recipes, trust me. Don't be afraid to research and modify!

Perfect gift for Elder Scrolls fan

Such a cool buy for your Elder Scrolls fan. I read the reviews and was a little worried that the recipes wouldn’t be complete, however I have not ran into this and neither has my daughter (who I bought it for). That being said we both have experience in the kitchen, so maybe for a noob there could be issues. I don’t know. What I do know is that this book is very cool and very fun. The graphics are beautiful and it’s quality all the way around.

Excellent, worth every penny!

The author of this book, interested in historical cooking as she is, was the perfect person to craft these recipes. As a cook interested in historical cookery myself, besides being a huge elder scrolls fan, I appreciate the depth of these recipes. Many of the recipes are easy enough to make, while still branching out into refreshingly different ingredients such as grains of paradise. Only thing I am slightly disappointed in so far is that the sweetrolls have no spice: I plan on throwing in a good pinch of the nord spice mix when I make them! (I have a spice mix recipe for speculaas that is from a middle ages cookbook and the nord spice mix is rather similar to it:-)

Fun Recipes

I loved the World of Warcraft cookbook so got this one to try it out. It's a fun cookbook, and several recipes pushed me out of my normal cooking style, which was fun. Will probably keep using this and the other ones I have. It's a fun cookbook, and something different to try. Would be fun to use for theme night dinners. Will suggest anyone planning on doing recipes to plan ahead. Several spices needed (mainly grains of paradise, which are needed for both Nord Spice and Stormcloak Seasoning) I could not find anywhere locally, and had to buy from Amazon.

Beautiful cookbook

This cookbook was a present for my hubby who loves Elder Scrolls games and cooking. The book surpassed my expectations in quality and style (it feels more like a D&D supplemental guide). The interior cover has a map of the lands in the game, and explains regional culinary specialties, which you can easily make at home. The recipes sound exotic but seem fairly easy to make. He even found a recipe he had eaten in game & is looking forward to cooking from the book. Even though we couldn't possibly need another cookbook I am proud to add this to our collection.

Great book, amazing recipes!

I bought this for myself because I have been a lover of The Elder Scrolls since the release of Morrowind, and when I found out about a TES cookbook I just had to get it, so I bought it with high expectations and I was not surprised when everything came out amazing! I cooked the Orsimer Venison, Potage le Magnifique, Agronian swamp shrimp boil, and honeycomb brittle. My favorite is in-between the Orsimer venison and the Potage le magnifique. I definitely will be cooking more from this book and can’t wait to try those scrumptious sweetrolls!

Nice book, well made.

The recipes are well detailed and seem to the layman - me, to be authentic. To be clear, some recipes call for wild game. These meats can be found at butcher shops. I was a tad disappointed in the honey nut treats. I was thinking they would be a baked item with a dough base not a no-bake peanut butter ball. Taste wasn't bad, just not what I had in my mind when my character ate them over the past few years!

Great buy!

I’ll have to come back and upload pictures, but I must say this book is worth it for the sweet roll recipe alone! It’s delicious. This was my first time making bread with yeast and they came out absolutely fantastic. My husband was very impressed. I will update my review once I’ve tried more recipes, but Iile i said this was worth it for that single recipe alone. Wish I would have taken pics, but they flew too fast!

High quality book with great recipes!

This book is fantastic! The recipes were a hit with my mother-in-law (which, when it comes to cooking, is praise from Ceasar), so much so that she is buying her own copy. I have not seen any of the issues missing regarding ingredient proportions like some people have mentioned. We have cooked several items from this book and they have all been home runs! We have started a few meads and I will update when they are ready. This book is extremely high quality and should not disappoint.

By the 9

I don't deserve something this beautiful or high quality in my life...and yet, here it is. I preordered it months in advance and the wait was well worth it. So far I've only made the alcohols & the twice baked potato~top notch! My skooma however still has 2 more weeks until it's ready.

Amazing!

I can't say enough about this cookbook. -Beautiful artwork and illustrations -Amazing culinary photos -Great quality binding, thick and sturdy pages -Overall solid construction -Easy to read and understand recipes -Rich culinary expose's for each race in Skyrim Just wonderful! - Got as a birthday gift for my wife (we both love Skyrim). I practically won the gift battle most couples secretly wage against each other. (PS. getting the better gift is a real thing fellas. We CAN win sometimes) We keep this in our kitchen now permanently displayed for all of our guest to bask in our nerdyness. Overall it was probably one of the best gifts I've ever bought.

Want a taste of Nirn? Than this is for you!

If you've been a fan of the Elder Scrolls series of games and have wondered what salt rice porridge (or Sweetrolls, or Boild Creme Treat, or...) tastes like then you want this cookbook! The porridge was a great sweet breakfast treat, I'll make it again for sure! My son bought this for me for my birthday and I love it! Make sure you have a good spice selection available, Skyrim/Cyrodill cuisine needs flavors not found in most kitchens so your spice rack is almost certain to be challenged. As an addition to your holiday offerings or as something new from your Kitchen, this is a great way to immerse yourself further in your favorite RPG series and surprise your family/friends. Take a dish to a friends house!

Well-thought out recipes, unusual ingredients, great flavors

My sister, whom this gift was for, loves cooking from this already. The photography alone is delightful to looks at, and the recipes we have tried already have been fantastic. I was impressed by the inclusion of old-world and , such as rye flour, Grains of Paradise, and juniper berries, rather than strictly usual ingredients found easily at grocery markets. The recipes feel like they come from a far-off land, while still employing the elements of familiarity and comfort cooking. Defonitely a must for Elder Scrolls fans!

Fun but instant diabetes and obesity.

Very well constructed books. Good full colored pictures on every page. Well thought out recipes albeit with ingredients you often won’t readily have available. Great for collector’s, but there is almost no single recipe in the book that is healthy. If you’re looking to put on some extra pounds of fat or test your fate with diabetes then you might find it useful. Otherwise just get it for the sake of collecting.

Beautiful book and Tasty recipes!

My husband and kids play Skyrim all the time so we were all very excited for this cookbook. It is, the most beautiful and well made cookbook I honestly may have in my house. VERY impressed with it. We've made about a quarter of the recipes so far and as easy as they to put together, they are 10x more delicious. I would recommend this for everyone, simply because of the ease of the recipes.

Great recipes

I've done several recipes from this book-the dumplings, hand pies, & the meatballs have been amazing! There are some substitutions you can make-it calls for a lot of use of Rye flour and exotic spices, which can be ordered, but using plain white flour and seasonings on hand-basil, garlic powder, thyme, parsley-all work just as well.

TRADITIONAL RECIPES CREATIVE NAMES

I thought this book would have more traditional recipes for the time but it is more like basic recipes just themed with Elder Scroll names. I was a little disappointed in this book. I wish I could have seen more of a preview before purchasing this.

Disappointed

I loved all of her recipes from the World of Warcraft cookbook, but I wasn't fond of these ones. It was almost like the recipes were made from a completely different person. I followed many of the recipes in this book and each one of them came out disappointing. A lot of the meals were very bland while others had ingredients that didn't quite go well together. This cookbook just wasn't right for me.

Just as fun as playing Elder Scrolls

So I serve the sweet rolls at my mansion in Solitude, my guests love them. The lavender wheat bread is unlike anything I have tasted. The recipes are the tried and true that grandma used to make. This cookbook is worth buying just for the story lines embellishing the pages of recipes. Beautiful illustrations adorn this book throughout.

Eat like a Nord!

I preorderd this for my wife, who Loved cooking in game! Now she can cook the same meals irl! We made the Potato soup the first night and it was so good! who knew flack seed would really pop in potato soup! the soup was very thick and hardy, just as a Stormcloak would need before taking on the Imperial Legion! can't wait to bake a sweetroll!

They should do a MasterClass on Chelsea Monroe-Cassel

What better way to bridge the gap between nerdary and culinary ...and yes, my wife still rolls her eyes a bit BUT she LOVES the results out of this book ... I've yet to get her to play skyrim although I will say I have "house music" that she may recognize later and insist she's visited the Bannered Mare many times. Anyway, I've made about 1/2 out of this book so far, and it's been absolutely spot on and quite a bit of fun for me. Being able to bridge those two worlds has been awesome.

I love this cookbook!!!

I had gotten an Amazon gift card for my birthday and dedided to buy this for myself and am so happy I did!! The food in Skyrim always looked so good and the book features in-game "classics" such as sweet rolls, boiled creme treats, apple cabbage stew, etc. as well as recipes for different doughs & seasonings to use in the recipes. Very happy with this purchase!

A must for any Elder Scrolls fan!

I pre-ordered this back in October, loving Elder Scrolls, how could I not?!? It has lived up to my expectations and is a fabulous cook book. Great pictures and a ton of things to try! My husband and I are going to make a batch of Skooma, just don’t tell anyone! 😉

It was given as a gift...

and now I can experience the dining delight every Dragonborn feasts upon throughout the hallowed halls across Skyrim. I've gotten to experience so far 20% of the cookbook since Christmas and every selection so far has been delicious. I won the gift-giving part of Christmas this year!! and better yet, my stomach has too.

Amazing Book!

Absolutely amazing book. I had to try out the Honningbrew and Black Briar mead first, sweet rolls are next of course. However, the book is a bit vague on some key details for the whole brewing process of mead and the delicate work of sanitization, along with some other recipes noted by other reviews posted about the book. Other than that the book itself is perfect and would highly recommend to all E.S. fans who wish to try the delicious dishes of Tamriel.

A Must for TES Fans Who Cook

This is a beautiful book in it's own right. There isn't a single white or bare page. The pictures are crisp, extremely high resolution, and colorful. The beginning had some flavor text on how to use the book, info on how the races cook in Tamriel, and some concept game or custom art through out it. The recipes vary from custom spice mixes, breads, main courses, mix drinks, and even various meads. They range from quick and simple ingredients to more involved. I particularly like the old world style and feel the recipes have. There is also a conversion chart in the back and dietary chart to know if a dish is vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, and what can be altered to be. The only negative with this book is the page numbers are incredibly tiny; get your readers out. Overall if your a big elder scrolls fan and love to cook, get this book.

A Great Gift!

I gifted this book to my brother on his birthday, and he loved it! There were many recipes in the book that are very delicious and we cannot wait to try all of them! I got this book along with two others during a book sale Amazon had going on, so I saved a ton of money. I was worried about the quality of the book as I had seen reviews of it coming damaged, but luckily it didn't. I would definitely recommend, as it came quickly and in great condition!

Fantastic Gift for Elder Scrolls Loving Cooks.

As a long time fan and some one who likes cooking, this is just one of the most beautiful gifts I've ever received. I absolutely love it and I cannot wait to start cooking from it. I do also believe most of the recipes are fairly simple and easy to follow though some involve a little less common ingredients.

Excellent Cookbook!

I have read through this thoroughly, this book is excellent, the publisher puts out top notch recipes and quite beautiful books. I would suggest purchasing the Fallout cookbook if you are a beginner cook, then "graduate" yourself to this book as it is a bit more complex. I checked, double checked and triple checked the recipes people have been complaining about. either the publisher fixed them, or other reviewers are mistaken.

Fun Tie-In Cookbook

I purchased this cookbook honestly for the sweetroll recipe and have no regrets. I also have made a few of the stews and main courses and they are quite delicious. I think the real barrier to entry for this cookbook is making the unique spices. Once you have those made up, the rest is easy and fun to make.

A great gift for any Skyrim fan.

This has been a really fun cookbook. The photography is lovely, the recipes are inventive, and it really has that in game vibe. I've had to play around with some of the flavors to make the recipes really mine... But. You usually have to with any cookbook. I recommend this one for any fan of the game.

I used to be an adventurer once, now I cook

Skyrim dinner! "I used to be an adventurer once until I took an arrow in the knee" .... now I cook 😂 Baked White River Salmon with Stormcloak seasoning Baked Ash Yams with Nord spice and goat cheese Garlic Bread Sweet roll (no one is stealing our sweetroll) Non Skyrim unsweetened tea🤣 If you know, you know

Will hunt dragons for food

One might think that the bleak Continent of Tamriel would have little to offer in terms of seasoning and flavor, but this cookbook demonstrates that the adventurers of this perilous land can regularly enjoy delicious meals, provided they can get their hands on the ingredients and a good cooking pot.

A masterpiece!

I've been looking forward to this just so I can have my own sweet rolls haha. The book is beautifully done, I love the hard back and the pictures are perfect! A must if you love recreating dishes from fantasy, plus if you need to make something for an event or dinner and want to surprise people with something different then this is a great secret to have; a fine night of Nord mead and sweet rolls around sounds like a perfect party to me!

DEFINITELY A REAL SATISFIED CUSTOMER

I made the Argonion Swamp Shrimp Boil and it was the best shrimp sauce I've ever had, noted I haven't had allot of shrimp sauce in my life but still, take my word for it, or don't... I guess I'm not really a sauce connoisseur so don't take my word for it, you should just get the book and make it to judge it yourself. After all It's only 20 bucks for like around 80 recipes, that's a steal in my opinion. (I'm totally not being payed to say all this...)

Great cookbook, terrible seller

I have no issue with the contents of this cookbook. I made one of the main course meals and it turned out great! Yes, I am aware there are recipes that don't tell you when an ingredient should be put in and some ingredient measurements missing but I believe that can be fixed with either trial&error testing or Google. The issue I have is that I paid for a new book but that is not what I received. The box that was shipped was too big for the book which wouldn't be a problem if it came with padding in it at all - like bubble wrap or packing peanuts. The bottom corner is bent, along with all of the pages on that corner, when you open up the book the seem of the front page looks worn as if it was used as a display.

Shocked at how good this is...

A lot of these types of products are gimmicky cash grab where they slap a name onto something to sell it. But the quality of these and the research that went into this is surprisingly well done. I had to order a few spices because I've never even heard of them. There is a decent amount of stuff in here that you may have not already have. These recipes really hold onto the rustic aspect of Skyrim and they captured it perfectly.

My son loves this book

My son is into video games and cooking. And while we've determined he's not old enough to play the Elder Scrolls games, that didn't mean he couldn't look at some of the foods. The fantasy adventure foods inside had him enthralled. Though I'll admit, the first recipe he looked for was the one on the cover: The one wrapped in bacon. lol

If you’re an elder scrolls fan...you need this...immediately..

I am an avid Elder Scrolls fan (Skyrim especially) and I literally screamed out of pure excitement not only when I found out this even exists but the when I bought it!! Its a beautiful cookbook filled with delicious recipes..I cannot wait to use this for dinner parties, or just regular breakfast, lunch or dinner, even drinks!! Absolutely perfect!!

One Son Now!

Got this book for my sons. They took to hunting a dragon to get some meat for one of the recipes. Dragon killed and ate all but one, who then killed the dragon while it was sleeping off the food coma. This book has literally saved me hundreds of thousands of dollars in education expenses.

Eh

The recipes were either gross (I’m picky) or too complicated. The ingredients were kinda out there as far as availability. It’s fun but I couldn’t get into it.

Wonderful!!!

I have a skyrim tattoo and I'm in love with it. I feel the same way about this book. The recipes are awesome and it even has some information about the lore of the elder scrolls in the book! As an added bonus, at the end there is a section where it shows vegetarian recipes and what recipes can easily be made vegan. My sisters family is vegan so that is amazing that I can make something they can eat!

Amazing!

I love this so much, its hard to express! Ive been a fan of elder scrolls for a very long time and when i saw this get announced i freaked! I had to wait quite a bit before i could purchase it but waiting makes the fruit sweeter, no? Its honestly everything i hoped for and more! The book itself is very thick and sturdy and its got a nice weight to it! The contents, however, are where it gets amazing. The photos and artwork(as well as the general aesthetic) are are so amazing! The little jokes and references and nods to lore or to side quests from one of the games makes this a pleasure to flip through. I am a big fan of hearty and rustic style foods, and everything in here looks so delicious, i cannot wait to start cooking from this!

You want sweetrolls? We got sweetrolls!

This is really a very beautifully put together book, there are lots of attention to little details and the pages themselves are on a heavy stock. The recipes are, for the most part, pretty basic, rustic fare but that also makes it very accessible for those new to cooking - or are not that confident in the kitchen. They included some basic substitution lists which are also helpful and a metric conversion chart as well. The sweetrolls are awesome!

Interesting recipes

This book is a godsend, especially for a Skyrim nerd like myself. Ever since I first got the game back in 2012, I've wanted to make some of the food seen in the game, and some I had never seen. As an amateur in brewing, I immediately skipped to the drinks section and decided I'd eventually try making mead, and the mead with juniper berries (Vilod's specialty) piqued my interest the most. I'm going to have so much fun with my mom making these recipes, with the first being Sheogorath's strawberry tarts. Why? Cause I'll have strawberries soon!

Belly full of mead

Great recipes love most of the book so far, and it teaches you how to make MEAD. And has sparked up a new hobby for me.

Fantastic & Delicious!

I got this for a friend who loves to cook, he's made at least 3 recipes and they're *amazing*! I'm vegetarian and was pleased to see that there's a dietary restriction guide in the back with suggestions for things like vegetarian and gluten free options for the recipes. The photos are gorgeous too! Just a really fantastic cookbook all in all. Makes picking between stormcloaks and imperials even harder. :P

Fun cookbook!

I absolutely enjoy this cookbook, I get a Google out of it now and then when I read some of the recipes, all recipes are named after a dish in the game, like the potage le magnifique!, It also had some alcoholic mead recipes that are named after in game meads as well, same with breads and sweets to, like the sweet roll! All I'm all I say this cookbook is worth the money spent, in thoroughly enjoy it and all the recipes look very tasty, and are tasty as well!

Great book and a great gift!

While I would've preferred a bit better job packaging the item (two books thrown in a much larger box without any shock absorbers/insulation), but the content and quality of the book are phenomenal! Some of the ingredients may be somewhat hard to obtain (one of the spice blends in the book contains several ingredients not readily available in the non-coastal U.S.), but easy to work around for most things. Prepare to enjoy more vegetables than you ever expected!

Great Cook Book

I have bought themed cookbooks in the past. Many were fun to read but the recipes did not sound very good. I have already used 2 of these and both turned out really nice. I am going to make my third tonight SWEET ROLLS !! The cook book is very nice!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

If you are a gamer like me, or know a gamer, this is perfect for you. If you love The Elder Scrolls, this is the perfect cookbook for you. They make a lot of references to the games, and it honestly makes me laugh reading it. You can even make honey Brew Mead! The horker loaf has to be my favorite.

very happy customer

Well I have been an Elder Scrolls fan for a long time now, and when I heard about a cook book being made I pre ordered the book and waited with anticipation! Well that day finally arrived and I am soo happy that I got this book. The book is well made. Hard cover, the pictures are amazing! I did make one of the recipes already and it was very good. Easy instructions to follow. I highly recommend this book to any Elder Scrolls fan!

Use more than your told

It had amazing recipes and cute details tucked in just for fans, but there are a few flaws. The spice combinations are delicious but when applying them to the dishes they under season. 1/4 of your season used on a family sized dish doesn't cut it. Their cooking times are also off kilter, either falling short or too long. All in all it's a good buy, just be open to altering and experimenting!

Gorgeous, High Quality Cookbook

Beautifully made and full of lore! I bought this as a present for my boyfriend and he LOVED it. The pictures are gorgeous and high quality, the paper is thick, and everything is well done. We haven't cooked anything yet, but I have no doubt that it will be delicious.

Great Food, Elder Scrolls Inspired

Love the recipes! Good food, great taste! However, it consists of just as many pictures as recipes — not sure if it's worth the price for that. Also, most of the recipes are "inspired" and do not actually derive from the series. They would have been better off to select recipes from Elder Scrolls Online.

Great recipes from one of my favorite video game series

The recipes and instructions are fairly straight forward and most of the ingredients are easy to find or you can order them through Amazon. Bonus, many of the recipes are able to be made Gluten Free with simple modifications.

better than expected

i ordered this as more of a novelty. i love skyrim i love cooking, so i thought if i get one or two recipes , my money would be well spent. but i am very happy with this book. im already planning on a dnd dinner party. the flavor text about elder scrolls lore is very amusing, and the recipes are great. some skill is required for the recipes.but this book is better than expected.

Perfect!

My parent and I ADORE Skyrim and he loves cooking. This was the perfect gift and we plan to make everything in the book. A pleasant surprise it that they have their own spice blends that the use in the recipes, AND they have a guide at the back to help those with dietary restrictions! So my gulten intolerant brother can enjoy these things too. :) I'm very pleased.

Buy this book! Even if you aren't an elder scrolls fan.

I haven't made any of the recipes yet but as a professional cook I'm very impressed with them. I had a lot of fun reading the recipes and the history of how they were used and for what occasions they would be made. The detail on the different races and their food origins fascinated me. I'm telling all my nerd friends about this book.

Honey pudding amazing!

This was worth it just for the honey pudding! I have had this for a few days and have had to make six batches of the pudding my family loves it! I also enjoyed the infamous grilled leeks! I can't wait to try the other stuff! I did find that many ingredients were hard to find in stores but I ordered them on Amazon instead.

Amazing cookbook!! Love it!

Absolutely love this cookbook! My husband got it for me as a gift. All the recipes so far have turned out delicious and I like that the majority is from scratch. Lover of Elder Scrolls? Love to cook? Get this! You won't regret it!

Must Buy!

Fantastic cooking book, great for anyone who are fans of Elder Scrolls. Also great for anyone who is not! I made the spiced butter, hoarker loaf, sweet rolls, bosmer bites, rustic mustard, sunlight souffle, kwama quiche...all where very delicious. There is some good mead and wine recipes I there as well...plus skooma!

Fantastic all around

Hubby and I made several things from this cookbook and we both LOVED THEM ALL. My favorite is the potato soup and honey pudding. If you're a Skyrim fan at all, get this book. It's high quality, all in color, and everything tastes/looks amazing

Beautiful book with great recipies

My whole family loves this book. The spice combinations are the best and the recipes are very doable. This is our second copy as the spine on the one we have been using for 6 months is starting to loosen. We may need a third to send off with our daughter when she finishes college.

Delicious and GORGEOUS!

I LOVE this cookbook! I will page through it randomly to get inspiration (that is when I'm not using a recipe directly). The photos are mouthwatering, and there is def an obvious love for the game behind it all. I recommend this book to anyone who's a fan of the games, or loves cooking!

YES. ALL KINDS OF YES.

Bought this for my fiance as a surprise and he LOVED it. Its got great recipes and is closely tied to the games. Also includes a map of tamriel at the front that he loved, as well as a summary of food preferences by race. He's super into khajiits specifically and loved how they had a skooma-like recipe as well as lots of skooma based humor. Did I say how much he loved it yet?? Definitely buy this its honestly super cheap for what your getting.

All the best comfort foods across Tamriel

The author did a great job incorporating all the game's best meals. You can have your grilled leaks, Apple cabbage stew, and finish it off with a sweet roll. The first and best thing is to make the several different spice blends you'll use to make the "ethnic" foods in the cookbook.

May the gods watch over your cooking, friend.

I've never read a cookbook that I've wanted a sequel for before, yet here I am. I LOVE this book. I showed it off to all my Elder Scroll players at work. It's gorgeous and had an unexpected surprise of lore information. I can't WAIT for my mead to ferment. If you love anything Elder Scrolls, this book is fantastic. My only problem was that it wasn't delivered very securely (It was in one of those manila colored envelopes with no bubble wrap) and there was some aesthetic damage to the spine. Other than that, this sits proudly on my coffee table when I'm not using it.

Missing A lot.

Did not include a few key items that are needed for certain recipes, such as the sweetroll that had a missing molding for the shape, which would've been GREAT to have. The book was slightly damaged on the top right corner on the front and the paper lining is basically torn from the hardcover. Very big disappointment and overall waste of money.

This was a fantastic gift and a great book

My husband is a huge fan of the games so I thought I'd get him the cook book and it was fantastic to see him reading and enjoying the book the way he was. I got some serious credit getting him this.

Beautifully crafted

This cook book is beautifully crafted. It has recipes that any fan of the series would love, with ingredients that would be similar to what is in the game. It even has skooma! What I also like is the little details like a cup of wine leaving a ring stain on a page. What I also found cool is blending spices and giving that blend a name and that blend is later referenced in other recipies ex *nordic spices*. I cant wait to explore and cook everything in this book. It's an adventure in real life.

Everything is DELICIOUS

Recently in the last year started playing the Elder Scrolls games, so when I saw this I bought it. Everything in it is delicious, my personal favorite being Sheogorath’s Strawberry Tart. Even if you don’t like the games, if you like good food and intriguing new recipes, by this book and you can thank me later.

Nord mead!!!!

Insane! I am obsessed with making each recipe. I love them all so far. I just set down my mead and skooma though so it will be awhile before I try them. The honey I used was a dark local honey so the mead does not look like the photo, besides I feel Nord mead would be darker than that.

Wife loved it.

Got it as a birthday present for my wife. She's already cooked 10 different things and is in love. GET IT!

Great Gift for a Chef who loves Elder Scrolls

Cookbook contains pictures and recipes of things found in the Elder Scroll game. The pictures are glossy and recipes are fun. Bought it as a gift for my brother-in-law. I think he will have a lot of fun with it. The hardcover book is a lot bigger than I thought it would be, and looks really nice. I would recommend buying this item.

Great cook book for the gamers!

I really love this book! I'm more of a novice cook, but a huge gamer and Skyrim was/is a favorite! This is a perfect book to unleash your inner Nord, Altmer, Khajiit or whatever race you identify as. But beware, some of the ingredients are kind of out there, like juniper berries and crushed dandelion root. Not impossible to get, but you gotta go scavenging at a "health food store". They also cost a bit of gold, the NPC's did NOT like it when I tried to put a basket over their head to try steal it... Then the guards showed up. Blah, blah, blah something about assault and theft, and I was banished or something. At least they didn't give me the whole "took an arrow to the knee" sob story.

Beautiful Cookbook

Lore lovers of Elder Scrolls can truly appreciate this well done cookbook. There are lovely pictures to go along with each recipe as well as the lore that we Elder Scrolls aficionados love so dear. I would recommend this to any cook or gamer. I can't wait to try the Skooma! The sweet rolls were a hit for the whole family.

Tasty Tamriel!

This book is amazing. Reading the snippets with each recipe really sets the mood for each dish. The recipes are well thought-out and tantalizing. The pictures are rustic and match the Skyrim imagry. This is a must for fans of the Elder Scrolls series. And there is a recipe for Skooma!

Could have had more.

I was really excited when I preordered. It has a lot of recipes, but I feel like more could have been included such as some potions and the drinks made by Talen-Jei at the Bee and Barb in Riften. Don't get me wrong, the recipes are amazing, I just feel like they should have added some other recipes. But I am happy the the most important recipe, to me, we in there. The sweet roll! There are also some ingredients that I've never heard of and are hard to find, so I had to do some substitution!

Great book which includes some recipes for mead as well

I pre-ordered this book as soon as I could being a huge Elder Scrolls fan. I've already made a few recipes and they've come out great; however I believe their is a small typo on page 73 for the 'Meadow Rye Bread'. It mentions a 'Rising: 2 hours' time but this is a beer bread and should be cooked as soon as the dough has been prepared. It doesn't mention the rise time in the instructions either. Very small problem, but might confuse some.

Not just a great cookbook, but a great artbook

Not just a cookbook, but am artbook. There's a bunch of great recipes (loved the spiced wine and I don't even like wine) and accompanying each section is a bunch of flavor text to immerse you into the Elder Scrolls world. This could be a great gateway into cooking for many folks out there.

Great but..

I always play the games, the cook book has many great recipes that suit the game. And they taste amazing but you have to be careful 1/3 of all the spices will be hard to find - unless you buy them from Amazon $80+ easy - and the spices you dont have are needed for alot again great recipes just hope you have the spices. The book also teaches you how to make mead and what dishes go better with what kind of mead you make (hope you have ale yeast to make the mead) in the end tho if you love the game or even medieval inspired dishes this book is for you just be ready to buy spices so you can cook from the book 100% you will not have everything but I do recommend this besides everything I say, the recipes speak for themselves

Best cookbook

This is awesome! Haven’t found anything that we didn’t like. The sweet rolls are to die for, or steal them for that special someone. The water of life has restored my vitality!

Taste just like Skyrim

We made Companions meatball bake for dinner and it came out so good! This cookbook is so easy to follow and fun to eat! We love Skyrim and it felt like we were eating straight from the game!

Amazing!

I’m obsessed with The Elder Scrolls, and I literally use this cookbook once a week! Everything is pretty straightforward and easy to make, and it definitely tastes/smells like something from the video games would have. I feel every Elder Scrolls fan should have this book!

Delicious and easy to follow.

Make sure you read the ingredients carefully because there's a few things I know that aren't common in a regular kitchen, otherwise this is absolutely great! I love the Lavender Honey bread!

This is exactly what an Elder Scrolls fan needs!

This cook book is very special to me being a fan of Skyrim. This is perfect for any Elder Scrolls fan. I’m not a cook nor baker but my Wife is. After showing her this beautiful work of art, she told me to pick and choose recipes to challenge her. I can’t wait until she cooks up an Elder Scrolls dinner while I play The Elder Scrolls online.

Fantastic!

I think I've used this cookbook more in the past 2 months than I have any other cookbook I've ever owned. Everything has turned out phenomenally well so far! I'm currently making a batch of Black Briar mead, I'll update this in a couple months when it's finished to give my thoughts on that process and how it turned out. I'm excited! :D

Awesome bok

This book is awesome! I love the pictures and the recipes seem easy enough to follow. I’m gonna try to make the lavender and honey bread first! Would recommend for a fan or someone who likes to cook.

A great cookbook!

I bought this after absolutely loving the World of Warcraft cookbook by the same author. This one is also great, but doesn’t have quite as many recipes. There are lots of hearty cold weather recipes and several mead recipes which is fun. Many of the recipes do require purchasing a few spices not commonly used in modern cuisine, but they can all be found on amazon :) So far I’ve loved the potato cheddar chowder, quiche, and the birch cookies were a hit this Christmas! Can’t wait to make more recipes from this book.

Cool Cookbook

The recipes in this cookbook are very renaissance time and easy to follow. I've played skyrim for years and some of these recipes are food in game and others are inspired. I greatly enjoy all the food I make from this book.

Stormcloak Seasoning

Quirky gift I got for myself. Only thing I found useful/interesting so far were the seasonings. Each came out well. Remainders are sort of no-duh cooking. Overall, not a bad gag gift for someone who knows Elder Scrolls.

Well made and good customer service.

The quality of this cookbook is fantastic and seems like it will last a good long time. Didn't notice any issues with the printing of the book. The main reason for the 5 star review is because despite USPS seemingly having lost the product initially after supplying the wrong tracking number, the seller, Tequilla Mockingbird, sent me a replacement cookbook at no cost and said if the original one did eventually arrive, I could keep it as a gift.

A minor recommendation for Snowberry Sauce

I have not fully read through the book yet, but it looks amazing so far! I will update later if I feel I should add to, correct, or change things. The first thing I will mention is that if you can get your hands on some autumn berries (autumn olive), they would make a great substitute for cranberries in the Snowberry Sauce.

Beyond Satisifed

I was so happy to get this I can not stop smiling. This book came to me with zero damage. No dents, bangs or torn parges. The pictures are beautiful. The instructions are easy. I can't wait to try all these recipies out!

The grand champion would love this

Some of the recipes are complicated or requires specific kitchen items. However the ones that are a little less advance are fun and make me feel like I'm getting to eat with my favorite khajiit. Awesome housewarming gift or gift to someone who loves to cook

Great gift for the BF

It is exactly what I thought it would be and more. The pages are beautifully rendered and the recipes are SO simple to make its almost ridiculous. The author does a nice job keeping the Elder Scrolls theme throughout the book and its exciting to make food that looks exactly like the food in the game! My BF was so excited about this gift he had to go shop immediately to make some of the recipes!

Good :)

Excellent cookbook with easy to follow recipes. None of the recipes I've tried are particularly difficult and I think anyone with any basic cooking knowledge would be able to make use of this cool and fun cookbook! The only issue I've had so far is that a handful of spices seem to be unavailable to me (like grains of paradise) so I've had to use substitutes a few times. Everything has tasted great so far though :) The cuisine is hearty and warm, just as I'd expect it to be.

super cool and great recipes too

This one is actually even better than the Fall Out cookbook, but maybe that is because Elder Scrolls has better food in the game... in any case these is an excellent cookbook without the game theme. It has some key recipes for seasonings and bases that are handy and the dishes are really good.

Looks better in person

My first reaction was wow this is well made. Typically when I buy something online when it gets here it's the exact item but the picture typically looks better on the site. But this item looks better in person. Well made with great colors very happy with this item

Astonishing quality, prominent recipes :D

This was worth the wait from 2018. I never had a map of Tamriel that even includes the cities, it made me gaze for a while. Most importantly, the recipes have great historical content, great descriptions, and great photos.

It's the Skyrim cookbook, not The Elder Scrolls Cookbook

Warning to anyone who has played any other game in The Elder Scrolls series, including ESO, you will not find any diversity of food from any other province of tamriel but skyrim and solsthiem. I'd say its falsely advertised and should be labeled the Skyrim Cookbook instead. But as far as skyrim comes, it's pretty good. It covers most of the cuisine found in game albeit with added substitutes for in game ingredients. Really wished we got authentic cyrodillic and elven dishes instead of nordic only . Hopefully they come out with more books for each province

Fun way to explore cooking with the kids!

Ordered this for the kids, and have had fun exploring the recipes. We have made the sweet rolls and potato soup so far, with plans for more soon.

Great Recipes

My son has really enjoyed this book. The family has enjoyed trying recipes from this book. The pages have pictures and are in color. It is also in hardback and you can open book and lay it down so it wont close.

Great book, yummy recipes that immerse you in the Elder Scrolls experience

I love this book. I've already made a couple dozen of the recipes and am quite happy with the results. None of the recipes go out of their way to appeal to "modern tastes," and some have you working with spices and ingredients you may not have used before, but that's only a bonus if you like trying new things. The baked goods and sweets are definitely worth the effort. Edit: There are a couple recipes missing important info. If you make the Boiled Creme Treats, they baked perfectly for me at 350 degrees. I made the Honeycomb Brittle with about 1 TBSP - 1/8 cup of water. Turned out fine. Happy cooking :)

Good present

Purchased this for my 13 year old cousin’s birthday. I couldn’t tell you if the recipes are any good, but my cousin was thrilled to receive this.

Husband approved gift

The artwork and photography in this book is beautiful. This was a perfect gift for my husband. We have not used it yet, but even so it’s beautiful even if you don’t use it. Great conversation starter as well.

Definitely worth it

My fiancee and I love skyrim, so this book was perfect. He made some apple stew that was great, and I plan on making the sweet rolls. It's very interesting to just look at

I took an arrow to the knee but I don't care cause; yum!

Got this for my mom as a mother's day gift and this is now one of the cook books she uses the most. Delicous food! Very accurate to the game!

I used to be a chef like you until I took a roller to the knee.

Husband is making all kinds of stuff from this! Mead, pastry wrapped salmon, strawberry tarts, boiled creme treats, spice blends. I'm in love.

AMAZING BUY!

I absolutely ADORE this book! Worth the money! However, the only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the instructions are incomplete with a few of the recipes (i.e. Boiled Creme Treats: No temperature listed for baking, Honeycomb Brittle: No water amount listed in the ingredients list, and for the Canis Root Tea it is not listed when to add the burdock root) Granted, all these things can be tested, played with, and fixed. I would appreciate a fix of this book but it's fine. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it and so far all the recipes have been delicious. Other than those little errors, The book is wonderful! Can't put it down!

Wonderful Cookbook

I find I do not cook much anymore but I love reading cookbooks. This book did not disappoint and I will be back in the kitchen.

Happy happy joy joy

I'm pretty excited to jump in and try these dishes made by individuals inspired by the elder scrolls series we've all enjoyed. Hoping that it can capture what things tasted like a few centuries ago. Can't wait to see.

What a great book!

For true Skyrim fans! This cookbook is awesome. Great tasting recipes, fantastic fan service, and a wonderful, delux publishing job. Top notch!

The ultimate cookbook for fans of the Elder Scrolls games!

This book is a delight & a must-have for fans of the Elder Scrolls games! The recipes are great, and the book is filled with beautiful photos. The fun & creative commentary was written by a genuine fan of the games.

Very well made.

Recipes are easy to make. Haven't tried them all yet but they are good. A nice gift for any fan of The Elder Scrolls.

Come winter, I'm getting fatter

Having fun with this. There are definitely substitutions I prefer, like making the chicken leek dumplings with pie dough, but all around this is just some silly fun. I have juniper mead aging, i've made main courses and desserts from this. I personally think the recipes are better suited for cooler times of the year, but once late autumn/ early winter hits, this book will definitely be helping me get fatter.

Beautiful Cookbook

Amazing cookbook for any lover of Skyrim. It's really worth the $20 since its packed with awesome recipes for the main course, desserts, and drinks. Plus the cool photographs and great references to the world of Skyrim is really neat.

If you loved Skyrim you will enjoy this book

I haven't made any of the recipes yet so I can't attest to the recipes but I can say that the book is very good quality and there are tons of recipes. Every receipe has a gorgeous photo. Will update with recipe review as soon as I make something.

Novel and Fun!

so much fun! i purchased this for my brother who’s an avid Elder Scrolls fan and he thought this was amazing. he’s not much of a cook himself but this got him excited to try his hand. and anyone who sees it on his shelf thinks its hilarious and loves to just look through it. really cute idea and well executed at that.

Delicious and Fun

This is a good cookbook, and the author did their research on the setting. Some of the ingredients are a little difficult to find outside of a big city, but overall it's pretty easy to work with. I would definitely recommend it to an Elder Scrolls fan.

A must have for Skyrim fans!

LOVE THIS BOOK! If you are an Elder Scrolls Skyrim fan it is a must have. Has GF, vegan, vegetarian conversations. Very classy and well made. Art is stunning. Recipes are fun and useable. Can't wait to cook with it. Already made Skooma!

Eh. Good for collectors.

Bought the cookbook because hubs and I are obsessed with the game. Most of the recipes aren't that good. The pea soup recipe is one of the best soups we've ver had in our lives! Will be keeping it for nostalgia sake.

Awesome recipes

You can make these any time, but if you want to throw a elder scrolls dinner party, this is great. All of the recipes are simple and delicious

Great gift if you are into it, get it

My girlfriend loved it she is a big fan of skyrim. I was also impressed with the recipes from food to drinks.

Amend for the second edition to include proper timing, temp and quantity for this

Missing instructions on temperature for boiled cream treats let's see how they turn out tonight at 375 I'm going to have to do this one a few times to get it right.

Great quality and fun recipes

This is a very well put together, beautiful cookbook. Built well and high quality photos and printing. The recipes are fun. Definitely a great gift for your local Elder Scrolls fan

I. Love. This. BOOK!

Got it on release, haven't had a horrible amount of time to dive into it BUT have made 3 of the recipes do far (including skooma, hence review delay) Looking forward to my next adventure, been awhile since I've gotten to the market... With this arrow in my knee an all.

Great fantasy cookbook!

I really love these recipes! I will say, the souffle...did not turn out very well. But I probably did something wrong. I've made the double baked potatoes, the mudcrab dip, honey and lavender bread, and sweet rolls successfully! I've made the honey and lavender bread once more, and my family have been begging me to make sweet rolls again too. Love this!

Great collectors item - and practical!

Excellent clam chowder recipe and delicious fondue. Great collectors item for ESO fans - and also a practical cookbook!
