He fully explains, and is as accessible, to those who can't get enough of the Lord, and those trying to figure out all out! He provides examples of what he's teaching, and you don't need to be a theologian or scholar to understand! I adore this man, and only wish I'd been here while he was! Enjoy, feast; you'll be privy to the simplicity of his teachings!

If you TRULY want to perfect your walk with Christ as a TRUE Christian, this is the book for you to read. I should warn you though, if you can't "handle the truth" then don't even read it. You have to be ready to crucify your life as unto the Lord and be ready to change! You will find out that there is more to the Christian life than just getting saved to miss hell when you die. He urges the church to get away from “entertainment” and return to the roots of the message of “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27). He even has a section in chapter two that covers the topic, "What Is A Christian?" This is VITAL, because that definition for a “Christian” has become SOOOO loose over the years!! EVERYBODY is a "Christian" now just because they use the name of "Jesus." I LOVE the term he uses to describe this kind of thought process. He calls it, "easy believism." This is the idea that if you believed in Jesus everything else would be all right and you don't have to change anything, for God loves you just the way you were. THINK AGAIN! God loves you, but He expects YOU to change- your walk, your talk, and your mind (Romans 12:1-2). After you read this book, you will no longer take God and what Christ died to give you and redeem you from for granted anymore. It's a "in yo face" (spiritually) kind of book (:)! Buckle up because you may just be on your way to the “spiritual woodshed.” You will either love it or hate it! It's one of those books that you can't put down. It's easy to read and you can hear the author’s passion about this subject in the book. It's quite interesting that the author was sharing different examples of NOT living a crucified life back in the 1940's, but those SAME situations are happening today! Ecclesiastes is right! "There is NOTHING new under the sun." It’s easy to go along with the crowd, but once you commit to living the crucified life you will be changed forever, but you will also open yourself up to opposition and misunderstanding, BUT, no worries, God has your back! OK. I’LL STOP PREACHING! JUST READ THE BOOK! LOL! 

A.W. Toast has shown us biblical truth on living the crucified life. We all need to take up our cross and allow the cross to show us why we need to be crucified. A.W. Tozer shows us the necessity on why living the crucified life is biblical. Live the crucified life and you will grow in your relationship with God.

A.W. Tozer brings a blow torch to modern day American, "Have it your way," Christianity. In "The Crucified Life." Tozer reminds Christians that the faith in CHRIST is about, you know CHRIST! Tozer focuses on a few well known verses, some old hymns, and some lesser known Christian authors from the past, that demonstrate that our purposes as Christians, isn't GOD to make our dreams come true, but for GOD to fulfill the purpose of CHRIST, his purpose in us. For some of us that may mean success, for others of us that may mean death, but it is about the life of CHRIST in us, nothing else. Give it a read if you are serious about growth in CHRIST.

In all his books he tells it like it was and even how it is today. He's old school and rightfully so, seeing a dying world surrounding us and we the body of Christ are failing to meet the needs that God has planned for our lives. Are we reading our Bibles everyday, are praying for others or just our own. Do we understand what it means to denied ourselves? There is a question in his book, that says are we willing to take down the veils of pride and stubbornness , self- will, religious ambition, ownership claims, fear, money , friendships and social position? Its about searching yourself and seeing if you are standing up to the call that God place on you to follow Him. Ask yourself who are you following ? No one said it would be easy, but then that's why we serve a mighty God who is there to see us through when we call on Him. He is God and there is no other. It's a hard book to read when it forces us to look at ourselves. This is a must book to read in this generation.

I am not qualified to critique such a sincere effort to explain how to live as Christ would desire us to live. Tolzer was a man of great faith and many highly educated people have rendered opinions which will be far richer than any I might attempt. I was challenged to grow in my faith and appreciated the numerous areas available to me. Tolzer explained what an intimate relationship with God is and how to achieve it. How to truly be a man of God!

This book is the single most important book after your Bible. It is not a book you read through and put away. This book must be revisited time and time again. It will challenge your heart and walk with God, you will be brought to a place of introspection that will push you into seeking the heart of God for your life. Tozer is a modern day "voice crying in the wilderness, 'prepare ye the way of the Lord'".

I have not finished this book yet but I am enjoying it. Tozer does a good job of building from foundational faith to abiding faith and I appreciate his passion for God and for truth. I do wish he had delved a little deeper into the points he was making. At times I have felt like the point was not quite made sufficiently before he had moved on to another main point. This has been my favorite quote thus far: 'God has given you the wind, the rain, a body to contain your wonderful soul. He sustains you, holds you up, keeps your heart beating and waits to receive you yonder. But do you toss Him a crumb, so God gets what is left behind? Does God get only the tattered bits of your time, yet you say you are a follower of the Lamb? Do not fool yourself. You are not it you don't go deeper into the crucified life.' it is so very important for believers to seek God with all of their heart. This is a good book for a Christian early in their walk as it will help them understand the importance of 'panting after God' and what they can do to grow in their walk.

I am so grateful for this book. I am so encouraged by so many things that were written. A must read.

This man addresses the hard facts concerning why the church today is where it is. This book is not for people who want to have their ears tickled.

Tozer has a way of writing that gets you to think beyond and hunger for more of understand of the Word of God.

Tozer brings a beautiful piece in this latest "The Crucified Life." This book helps bring about the death of one's self and ways to live to the fullest of God's glory in our lives. Its material may be too heavy for some, though I would suggest that this is a very good thing. I agree with Tozer that a shepherd who does not make you feel uncomfortable with yourself at times is not doing his full job as a pastor. This book is all about self-denial, self-death, self-distrust, and denial of your carnal desires/temptations. The beauty of it all though is it also is ALL about Jesus and how to orchestrate your life as a song for His glory and love. Anyone can turn their life into a fragrant offering before the Lord our God, and this book is just another method to open your heart and soul for this beautiful task.

This is desperately needed in every Church throughout the US and the world. Most Christians are missing the abundant life, or think they’re Christian’s but aren’t. Isn’t experiencing the abundant life Jesus died to give us important to experience now? Isn’t knowing that we are truly living a life that will go onto eternity important to be settled beyond a doubt? Tozer does an exceptional work of taking us by the hand and leading us toward the abundant life Jesus promised.

No bells, no whistles, plain and sensible. We need God to make sense of what is going on in the world today. Obedience is necessary.

I had read “Pursuit of God” twice through before I found this book. What a wonderful challenge presented here, to live the crucified life.

I have read this book before, along with most of Tozer’s books. He goes for the juggler! A soul searching book.

A. W. Tozer was a hard-hitting, prolific minister who didn't mince words. His work was straight from the word of God with great accuracy. If you wish to be inspired and encouraged in your faith, there are none better than books written from the sermons of the late, great A.W. Tozer. I highly recommend this book for your reading!

I enjoyed reading this book. The premise is What does it mean to be “crucified with Christ”? In this book, I have definitely gained a fresh reminder of the cross’ centrality for my walk of faith in Jesus Christ. Tozer goes deep in helping us to understand Apostle Paul's letter to the Galatians & verse 2:20. I feel empowered by the words of encouragement and truth, reminded of what to do, how to act, how to adjust my attitude and truly let go and let God!

In this book, Tozer seeks to give a Christian the tools they need to live out the one-hundred fold life. He addresses everything that stops Christians from having a intimate relationship with the Almighty One. If you want to live a life completely surrendered and filled with God and His Spirit this is the book that will help you breakthrough to that level. It has been so enlightening and helpful at the same time! No matter where you are in your walk, Tozer seeks to help you go deeper and deeper. Please read this book. If you're a Christian seeking an intimate relationship with the Lord this book is must read. If you're someone who wants to learn about what Christanity is or if you're a new believer this book is a must read. Tozer takes everyone back to basics and then builds and builds and builds from there. I know this book will truly bless and change your life as it has changed mine!

Very few authors are gifted with the anointing to write with piercing words and uncompromisingly sound doctrine: A.W. Tozer was one such gifted brother. There is no spiritual reality more fundamental to the Christian's walk than living the crucified life, as Jesus said "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me" (Luke 9:23). But this experience is one that very few Christians today are living out. It is why so many never enter that deeper spiritual fellowship with our wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Reading this book is not the same as living a crucified life, however, Tozer's insights into the Christian's crucified life will prove invaluable to you as you turn to the Lord to seek His face and follow after Him.

Bought this copy for my pastor who had read "The knowledge of the Holy" by Tozer, but had not read this book. I have read and re read several times over the years. Christ calls us not to attempt to live a Christian life but to surrender to His life that He wants to live through us. What we can never achieve, He can acomplish through us only as we allow Him to live out His life and will in us. We learn to take our hands off what He already owns--ourselves; that His purpose is achieved for His glory, His honor, and His reputation through us. Great read; Luke 9:23; Gal. 2:20; Col 3:3-4. I am currently finishing this book--could not put it down. Finally, someone whose heart God has entered,and now resides, writes from his renewed heart. This a no nonsense book chock full of spiritual [biblically sound] nuggets that does not push one to his or her knees, but lifts them to highest heights of worship and utter delight in [God in] Christ! Some might get stuck at "the Bible can be a barrier to God" HOW TRUE! Too many are seeking to be righteous/religious Bible handlers;(I BELIEVE in the BIBLE)---NO, NO, NO!!! We want GOD and MORE of HIM. When we submit our will totally to God--we enter the realm of holiness where THE Word (sword) becomes a weapons manual---A living communique- Rhema, [God in] Christ, guiding us in our escape from the prison of the 'world'. Great book!!! A+!

Although this was worth the read, in my opinion it was not one of Tozer's better efforts. It pales in comparison to The Knowledge of the Holy. I think the main reason it left me a little flat was that it tended to portray sanctification more as pietism than an organic, Spirit-empowered outflowing of our desire to please Christ because He first loved us. In that vein, it became overly prescriptive and proscriptive in parts, as though the role of the conscience in Christian liberty should be subordinated to a predetermined list of "How To's". Tozer rightly was concerned about the impact of the assumed gospel and "easy believeism" on the church today, but a stronger case could have been made for obedience out of love and gratitude for our Savior, and union with Christ, as opposed to obedience (and even separation) as a means of sanctification. For a better take on the grace of sanctification, read Michael Horton, Edward Fisher, Walter Marshall, or C.H. Spurgeon.

Haven't finished it yet but what I have read so far is incredibly uplifting and convicting so yah...one of my favorite books so far, certainly was what I needed when facing an important struggle in my life!

I just finished this book and it was one of the greatest book I have ever read in Christian literature. If you are a born again Christian who love the Lord and want to love Him more and understand how you can love Him more than do not miss to read this book. In our days true Christianity seems to be disappearing and many worldly things has made its way in the Church and in individuals but there is no option for a true believer to follow hard after the true Christianity which may not be very popular. I was drawn to consider my Christian life and how it is lived out. Reading this book challenged me to go deeper in my personal time with The Lord, in the Word, in meditation, but more importantly to consider who I am really living my life for and to break away from the world's pull and self appreciation that permeates our current society. I was also challenged to evaluate Grace. It's incomprehensible depth rather than the "cheap" Grace that the Christian church claims today. I am not much of a reader but Tozer really gets to the point for me, and I'm always challenged and blessed by his writings and profound love for The Lord.

Takes a Christian to where they need to be. Crucified. Application of the Cross to your life. Jesus said to pick up your Cross, didn't he? Modern Christianity doesn't preach, Be crucified, Christian. Crucify that flesh! Being made into the Image of Christ is what we should get on with. Tozer nails that!

Tozer's writing is clear and concise. He uses Scripture to back up his points and he lets the verses he has chosen speak for themselves. The author does not pull any punches. He addresses head-on the issues he sees as problematic in the church and with many individual believers. But he does not simply point out problems and issues. He gives the reader a concrete diagnosis of the issues and then follows this with concrete solutions. The book is convicting in its diagnosis and encouraging in pointing out the solutions, with both the diagnosis and the solution rooted in Scripture.

Like most of what Tozer wrote, this is a book that cannot be read just one time. With Tozer you have to savor it like a good steak. You will want to read and then re-read this book. Prepare to have your faith stretched and your Christian World View challenged in new ways. Even though it was written many years ago, I found this book to be totally relevant for those who are seeking to live a life in Christ. "I am crucified with Christ, never the less I live" will become more than a verse in a book, it will become a way of life!

Challenging. Hard truth that every Christian needs to hear. Tozer doesn't tread lightly, he brings the truth of Gods word without reservation, as always.

Read as much of Tozer as you can, and chase up the saints who he refers to. This is a 'how to' book, for the deep places of the heart: how to get out of God's way, how to stay in his will, how to quieten oneself enough to be useful. Give this book to those starting out, it will show them what a Christian should be look like. Give it to anyone uncertain if they, or their church fellowship is on the right track. Easy to read, mighty plain language, just the words that matter.m

If you had enough milk and feel ready for the next step in your relationship with Christ, this is a good book to get you started.

An Amazing and excellent book. It speaks to your inner man, the more you read the more you yearn for a deeper relationship with God. Very easy to understand. I suggest you read prayerfully and ask the Lord to minister to you through this book and you won't be disappointed. I love it will buy 2 more as a gift for my children. It will help children who Will be getting into Ministry one-day. Excellent Excellent Excellent! Money not wasted.

This was my first introduction to Tozer's work, and i am very glad this was the first one I read. Many Christians after a while have heard of 'the Crucified Life' 'the victorious life', 'the exchanged life' and other phrases thrown around, but have no idea what any of that actually means. I found this book to be very thorough and clear in explaining what exactly that type of Christian life is, and what it looks like in practice. Highly recommended for those who are seeking Christian maturity or a greater understanding of what being a new creation is all about.

I purchased the Kindle version of this book and it is all but unusable. The table of contents is non-existent. Instead, the reader is shown random numbers. As you click on each 'Part 1', 'Part 2', 'Part 3' and so forth, you get more random numbers and a few random headings. When you get to the text, page numbers and heading are mixed in with the text. This was a very bad Kindle conversion. I returned the book with 15 minutes of purchasing it.

Tozer uses words and illustrations to address a difficult topic...to become all God intends us to be we must surrender all. ALL. This book targeted my heart, soul and spirit, which will never be the same. Praise God.

Tozer was and is a Spiritual Giant in the faith. I am a voracious reader of all things Christian and Tozer is heads and shoulders above everyone else in increasing my spiritual horizon. "How you view God shapes every other area of your life" Tozer's words that have always stuck with me. "A crucified man goes to his cross and does not come back." To sum up, what Tozer wants to communicate here is what Paul spoke of in Galatians 2:20. If you want to deepen your faith and expand your inner man, Tozer is your author.

As usual this Spirit filled Christian puts into words things most of us Christians don't like to listen to. However, for those who are totally submitted to the Lordship of Jesus this a book of affirmation of God's will for our lives. Following these up to date reminders will not only make us stronger Christians but our faith will become even more useful and powerful in making us ambassadors for Christ. Anything Tozer writes is worth the money and the time to read. He is a spiritual giant.

This, for me, was a quick but troubling read. Tozer has set the bar of selflessness quite high, to the point where the unsuspecting pilgrim is shot through with shame and guilt: there He stands, my Lord and Savior, behind the bulwark of comfort and self-sufficiency I have spent my life building. A second read at an appropiately contemplative pace is recommended - particularly now during Lent. Tozer lays out God's holy standard with little regard for mankind's inherent inability ever to meet it.

I will come back to this book for reference, there are so many teachings that I need to be reminded of daily (hourly). Thank God for writers like Tozer and others who understand what the Crucified Life is.

If you had to choose 1 book from Tozer, this the one to buy.

Anyone looking to go deeper with God must read this. If your tired of living a luke warm watered down Christian life, then this book is for you. I don't know of any authors today that can take us into the heart of God like him. A giant of the faith, Tozers work is timeless and true.

One of the focuses of my life has been the reality of my death as I was reborn and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in my new life in the Kingdom. Tozer's wisdom in this book astounds me. What a joy!

What does the cross of Christ Jesus mean to the average Christian? Especially at East time when our thoughts are drawn to His death and the terrible cost that He paid, what lessons should the believer learn. This book takes one beyond the passing thoughts of the cross into and asks each Christian to evaluate his walk with the Savior. Wonderful book about the true life that a Christian should live. Something which many of us, including pastors, fail to do these days. I would recommend this book for anyone seeking advice on living the life which we were called to live!

Incredible book that cuts to the heart of the problem in 21st century Christianity. Tells why this important while showing us where we are at as believers. Tozier does a great job of leading us to what to do in order for revival to come which will start when we commit our lives to living the Crucfied Life !!!! This a simple read but will be one you will over and over again.

This is the fourth book by A. W. Tozer that I have read in the past six months. I needed to read each of them at least twice, in order to get more out of them. What's most amazing about Tozer, is that he saw the falling away of the American church decades before others. If your desire is to know God intimately, read the Bible and The Crucified Life daily.

Tozer is the Man! This guy did not cut corners in his Christian walk. Solid truth from the Bible. If your looking for solid Christian literature this is it.

I could not hardly wait to start reading this book. I have other books A.W.Tozer has written and have recommended them to my friends. This will be among one of my favorites written by him. I use it as part of my devotionals in the morning and can't hardly wait to see what he has to say next in the book. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Tozer's books are timeless. The issues he confronts in this book from decades ago are still relevant and plagueing the church today. My only warning on this book is that you should listen to it slowly and prayerfully and allow some time to meditate on these life changing truths. I had to listen to this twice and bought the e-book companion to allow time to go back and reflect on the truths that really impacted me.

Tremendous book by Tozer. If you like Tozer then you will love this typically deep and meaty book on what it means to live the Christian life, the crucified Christian life.

An in depth look at what it means and the cost required for those who want a close relationship with God. It cost God dearly to restore us to Himself. Shouldn't we want to be close to such an amazing God.

This has to be the most challenging book I've read by Tozer so far. Most of his books are simply compilations of sermons, but this book has a single, unified theme. Reading it is fairly easy; doing what the Lord is requiring of us in living the crucified life is much more difficult. I strongly recommend this book to anyone seeking the deeper life in God.

What an amazing experience and reading material. If you are wanting much more than your status quo in a book about stepping up your relationship with your heavenly father, this is it. A.W. Tozer delivers again a gracious account of learning to take your walk to the next level. Hungry for God, this is your book.

It is in vogue to be cross or gospel centered, but the message of this book is sorely missing. What we need that is missing is Christianity that is modeled by dying to self and being resurrected to new life that is less concerned with the crowds and only desires to live for an audience of one.

Heart stirring book for all you want to be obedient to Christ by denying yourself and live a life that is pleasing to God and doing His will.

Anything Tozer writes, or more accurately, wrote is worth your time. In this book he focuses on holiness and those thing that enable and/or hinder a holy life. Easy to read, challenging and encouraging. It is worth your time to read The Crucified Life.

Arrived quickly in perfect condition. I can't express how much these CD's have helped me spiritually. I feed on every word. Has inspired me to dig so much deeper and seek for so much more of God. If you are really serious about living a Christ-filled life I highly recommend this edition of A. W. Tozer's writings. Has really changed my life.

It is possible for a mature christian person to live in absolute humility and obedience to the Lord. As Tozer claims: "Success in the Christian life is not automatic. The soul must be cultivated like a garden and the will must be sanctified and become Christian through and through."

Just like all of Tozer's writings this will be one of my treasured books. The way in which Tozer articulates his love for Christ and his devotion to being holy is unlike any other. His writings are a constant reminder it is possible to consistently strive for unwavering holiness even in this dark world.

Thought provoking bringing one face to face with the heart of discipleship. Discovering the needs for a "selfless life". Ask you self , did not Christ live out such a life?

One warning I would give, is that a believer should be steeped in the teachings of grace before reading this book. It would be quite easy for someone to turn this teaching into merit based Christian living instead of a guide to seeking more intimacy with God. Tozer is also a bit anti-intellectual, which has no basis in Scripture; rather a Christian ought to lean on God, but use his mind.

I purchased this book for someone else, so I can't speak from experience, but the friend for whom I bought it said that all of Tozer's books are exceptional. He passed the book on to another person who is also enjoying it very much. My friend has read most of this author's work and highly recommends getting his books.

A. W. Tozer at his best! He writes with ease of understanding, his writing is based on pure Biblical truths and I wouldn't be wrong in saying that any book by Tozer is a must for your own personal library of Christian books.

Excellent book describing how we should live our lives when challenged by the "world". Even though these writings were from over 50 years ago, the truths are even more timely today.

This is the third Tozer's book I have read and found them all inspiring. Tozar is always prodding his reader ahead in the Christian walk. The Crucfied life is convicting,challenging and inspirational . Highly recommend but only if you are serious about living the crucified life.

It's beneficial to see where God has us In our journey of surrendering and abiding In Jesus, this book affirms what God is Doing and has done and where he wants to Take us as we live for his glory through His son Jesus.

This book is only for the Christian who desires to go deeper and further with God. This is not surface level Christianity as we see so much of today.

One of the best books I've ever listened to.

As I read each line of the book, the prescence of God seemed to linger in the environment. I meditated on each concept, learning more about who Jesus is and in doing so, who I am in Christ. Thank you Father for such a gift of A.W. Tozer.

I've read the Pursuit of God, The Crucified Life, and The Purpose of Man. All three books were very inspirational. Brother Tozer is one of most inspirational writers I,ve read. You can,t go wrong by reading his work-you will be very blessed.

Great book. not a "fast read" book. many many pearls of wisdom here. Amazing book as it Tozier died in the early 1960's and it is more pertinent today than when it was written.

One of the most amazing books I have ever read! He doesn't sugar coat anything and really lays out the life you should live if you are truly living it for Jesus.

He's many years gone but can still speak into our lives today. He does make our contemporary church look so very shallow, but he's spot on biblically. A great challenge for anyone wanting to know more of the Christian walk in the Holy Spirit.

I love reading books by this man of God. His love for God is evident in everything he writes. Reading his books less one to hunger for the kind of relationship the author bios himself.

I just finished The Knowledge of the Holy and thought it was an incredible work. Delighted from what I read, I purchased The Crucified Life expecting a similar experience with AW Tozer as the author. We'll, not so much. The writing style is completely different and the illuminated heart felt in the Knowledge of the Holy just wasn't in this book. I can't prove this but it's just not the same.
