COLORO FARMS
Excellent book for any cattle rancher! The author, Heather Smith Thomas, has walked the walk and raised more than 6000 calves since 1967. A rancher herself Ms Thomas has produced a very practical and easy to read health handbook for raising cattle. Jammed packed with excellent illustrations, drawings and medical reference footnotes--this has to be the best cattle-health handbook on the market! My book is so worn and a little manure covered I'm purchasing a new one and the return on investment will be worth the hard cash outlay. My cattle are my children and it was so rewarding to find an author that feels the same way. Well written book and superbly published. Forget the other handbooks, I've read most of them--then a cattleman loaned me this book and I was amazed, gratefull and hooked! The sun will fade the cover and manure will stain the pages but your cattle will know they are loved and well cared for, not to mention the financial payback from reduced vet bills and your own stress! Thank you Amazon and please send Ms Thomas my kind regards and gratitude.

Awesome, helpful, well put together. Been ranching for YEARS and still learned tons from this book. Buy it!
Gives a lot of main information you needs about your herd
Great book to help with finding basic solutions to some cow issues and have an idea of health issues. It also gives advice for a healthy environment and diet for herds.
New to raising cattle
Gathering Notes is the easy part and the most important things (that I consider Important) I email to my dad. Being new to raising cattle, and living in a humid environment, is hard to keep up with every thing that is in the soil. Though the family started to own cattle about three years ago my parents are just have accepted the fact that the environment here on east Texas is very different than the hot-dry from their small town in Mexico. This book provides us with understanding and new methods besides only going to the vet. Looking forward to buying Essential Guide to Calving!

A must have if your wanting to get into cattle. We reference to it often when something seems off and not sure what it is.I like to look through it to keep things in the front of my brain. Vets are expensive and don't want to call ours unless I have to!

Great book
Very informative
This book is amazing! It's so informative and there are some medical terms but it is written very well to where you can understand it. I'm a newbie to the cattle industry and I feel like just from skimming through this book I already know alot more than I did before!
cattle raising
Excelllent book for the more advanced cattle owner and breeder. Fills the gap between "intro tomes" and textbooks with sufficient veterinary information that allows intelligent decisions when to call for help and what to do in their absence. Truly wish I had this book when we first started. Recommend highly to new and experienced operators.

Very informative and understandable!
I have recommended this book ever since I got it. It was written by an elderly woman who raised cattle and is written in a way you can understand without having to take a pre-vet med course. Highly recommend this even if you have a few cows or several hundred.

An Excellent Reference Book
For a cattle rancher who is very hands on and wants to keep on top of illness without calling the vet every week, this will help you recognize when you can treat, and when the vet needs to come in. Also a lot of general information for keeping them healthy to start with. Good info on medications as well.

Not For The Novice
This book is great if you are an experience cattleman or if you are experiencing some sort of medical issue with your cattle, but it's a little overwhelming for a novice & anyone not familiar with medical terminology.
i'm new to cattle

Quite helpful for those just starting and the most experienced.
I started working with beef cattle just the last few months and this book has been wonderful. It starts with the most simple stuff like how and where to give shots or how to make a halter to explaining the characteristics and treatment of all the different diseases possible. Worth your money.

Very informative
informative and interesting
This book was very informative and easy to read. It isn't crammed full of medical & scientific jargon that makes it hard to understand; it gives you the terminology that is essential and easy. One of my calves was recently ill and used to book to determine what signs there are for pneumonia and immediately gave the calf antibiotics. He is now fully recovered.
Very Informative
Useful book for anyone raising cattle, covers all the things a new or old cattleperson needs to know to keep a healthy herd.

Great
Great book. So helpful and full of good pictures! Lots of gread info and so many things you just never think of. Love it!
A good go to guide and resource!
Very handy book to have. We raise a few bummer bottle calves each year. The type that we only get because they are nearly dead anyway and the rancher gives us to them to try to save, and keep if we do. We are more than 100 miles from the vet, so we need to be able to assess and help the babies as best we can, or lose them. This book is pretty thorough on most cattle emergencies, diseases and plenty of preventative ideas. It is in a format that pretty much anyone can understand and learn from. I'm sure this will be a go to book each year when the new babies who come in with something unusual each year. I would recommend this book highly to ANYONE who raises cattle, from a couple bottle babies, to a very large herd.
Great addition to our library
This book was wonderful as we recently purchased brood cows and calves. VERY helpful.
Cow-breeder favorite
A friend of mine is a cattle breeder (AI). He had surgery recently and I sent him this as a get well card. He loved it! Not much more to say.

EXCELLENT HANDBOOK
Not What I Was Looking For
Not as good as I thought it woud be. Not a bad book, but I was looking for something that would make it easier to ID diseases and problems. This isn't the best book for that.
Useful book
As a 3rd generation ranch family, this is a very helpful book. You don't need to be a vet to understand it but it isn't just a bunch of general information for the hobby rancher who doesn't know scours from pink eye.

Yes I started to have better understanding by reading on this book
Unable to read.... :( Kindle for PC does not work or open
My KINDLE for PC will not work, will not open. I have done all the suggestions on trouble shooting, and still NOTHING! Very disappointed. I want to read this book and need to have it for a reference as well. If you have any advice let me know!

very good vet book
Perfect for any farmer!!! 😍
Absolutely love this book!! Bought it for my partner recently and now he always has a flick through it before he calls the vet!! And does a little night reading with it instead of scouring the internet for multiple and numerous nonsense ideas/answers!?! 🙄 This book is direct and on point, perfect for any farmer!!! 😍
Good book
Not read this yet, but scanned through it seems pretty good..
Disapointing
Disapointing. I want to know how to keep my cattle healthy, not how to treat diseases. This book is the typical scientific approach to cattle management, find a disease and treat it. Not for me.
