Saving on taxes means more money for you, your family, and your real estate investments. Learning tax strategies could be the easiest money you ever make!

When it comes to taxes, it’s not about how much money you make—but how much money you actually keep. Are you tired of working hard all year, just to lose the largest chunk of that money to the IRS?

Believe it or not, the U.S. tax system is filled with loopholes designed specifically to benefit real estate investors just like you. In this comprehensive follow-up to The Book on Tax Strategies, bestselling authors and CPAs Amanda Han and Matthew MacFarland bring you more strategies to slash your taxes and turn your real estate investments into a tax-saving machine.

Inside, you will learn:

  • How to use your rental properties to legally wipe out your taxable income
  • Tax-deferral and tax-free techniques to significantly increase your return on investments
  • How to supercharge your nest egg with self-directed investment strategies
  • Everything you need to know to take advantage of the opportunity zone tax benefits
  • Strategies to take cash out of a 1031 exchange without paying taxes
  • How to take advantage of the tax reform benefits in all of your real estate deals
  • Common retirement-investing tax traps and how to avoid them
  • Reviews (19)

Paid for itself by page 12

I'm new to real estate investing and was taking a leap ordering a tax book. I expected a highly technical "yawner" but this book was really excellent. I was quite surprised and (miraculously) read the whole thing. There is excellent advice on 1031 exchanges and really good stuff on Self Directed IRAs (pros and cons). Probably the most useful real estate book I have read in the past 2 years.

    Fantastic book, saved me thousands

This was a fantastic book. Concise, well written with numerous examples. It saved me thousands. One misconception I had was that my cpa would be proactive about reducing my tax burden. I was wrong. I brought up a few strategies laid out in this book, specifically full time real estate designation for my spouse and cost segregation analysis. His reply was "yes, that would save you a lot of money". Thanks pal. I am likely not alone in this situation. Highly recommend reading this book and then consulting your cpa to see if the strategies are appropriate for you. Also, fire your cpa if they're anything like mine!

    Advanced Strategies For Advanced Investors

The "sequel" to the authors' first book on tax strategies for real estate investors is an easy to read, approachable and well written book that allows the investor to "issue spot" and ask questions to their tax preparer and legal advisor on deal structuring, 1031 exchanges, Opportunity Zones, self-directed retirement accounts and more. While not as useful or actionable as the first book (which is a five star must read) this book truly is advanced strategies that are not going to be able to be implemented by the investor without professional help. A good read, and if you are pushing that six figure income/seven figure portfolio value, a must read.

Easy to follow strategies for the real estate investor.

I just converted a personal residence to a rental property and thought it would be helpful to become familiar with some of the potential implications. I am glad I selected this book. It presents the tax consequences of various real estate investment strategies in a straight forward manner. It offers many ways to potentially reduce or defer taxes through a number of different strategies. Some of the strategies can be quite complex and they emphasize the need to work with a knowledgeable tax advisor, but sufficient background is provided to be able to discuss your specific situation to maximize your potential benefits.

    Full of Good Info!

This book is full of great strategies. It's a book you'll want to keep on hand to refer back to, when topics come up. It's easy to read and understand and wasn't over my head. The author makes each topic very clear, with great examples. I'm glad I have this book.

Fantastic the best book I've read on taxes

I thought a tax book on real estate would be boring. I was absolutely wrong. This book is better and more educational than any class I took on real estate in university. Amazing. Must read for any real estate investor!

    The Importance of Tax Strategy
