Love this book. They way that Jim helps you create a space to invite Christ into your day has been instrumental in my growth as a Christian. The way that we have been individually created to commune with our Creator is just as unique as anything else in our personality. Songs, scripture, prayer, meditation and even silence can be used to bring us closer to Jesus. This book isn't meant to be followed from front to back and word by word, but rather as a guide to help you find and develop the places in your life where you can hear God whisper to you...and sometimes scream...to tell you how much you mean to Him.

This book has seen me through some of the hardest points in my life. I am obsessed with this book and how every single week no matter what the topic is it relates perfectly to my life. IT IS AMAZING. This book is perfect for someone just starting out in their faith or someone who's been walking with the Lord for years. you can do a devotional in 5 minutes or 2 hours It depends on you. Ive also been going through this book for more then a year and in that year God has used this book to speak to me in too many ways to count.

I received the book as a gift from my friend. I ended up liking it so much purchased it as a gift to at least a dozen other people. Jim Branch has compiled a masterful list of heart thoughts from many other authors in a beautifully cohesive way not to mention his own literary prowess. Bravo!

Excellent devotional with input from a broad spectrum of different both Protestant and Catholic sources. Jim Branch also has great insight and thought provoking writings and poetry.

This is an amazing book for topic study! It was recommended by a friend, and it will be a staple as far as study tools go.

I love the format of The Blue Book! It is designed so you can spend 10 minutes or an hour on your devotional. It has great flexibility, but the depth of the reflections each week have been life changing. Favorite devotional ever. I've used this book for years, I got it from my youth leader, but the copy was getting very old. I recommended it to a friend who told me it was now on Amazon!

Books came in beautiful conditions. I’ve gotten so much from these as my own devotionals. I’m gifting them to my Young Life kids that are graduating his year.

My daughter loves this book. She is 16 and this book has left a great impression on her and her growing faith.

This is bar none the best devotional book I've ever used. It covers all the bases of scripture reading, prayer, meditation and thought, journaling, and reading the greats of the Faith. I can't imagine my daily time with the Lord without it!

Fabulous devotional book. Great for short devotional or all day.

It took me a year and 4 months to complete the book, and it was worth every minute. It is a good compilation of scripture and excerpts of spiritual writings organized by topic. One week per topic, if you stay on schedule.

I had heard of the outstanding merit of The Blue Book, and thus was delighted to hear of the process to restart printings of it. Hence I purchased it as soon as I was informed of its availability. After the fashion of the devotional Disciplines for the Inner Life, the format is indeed of multifaceted excellence. If one wants to supplement The Bible with a single resource that addresses every hue of the spiritual spectrum, The Blue Book is a treasure for daily nourishment. It will surely last for a lifetime of growth in Christ, as it brings something new with each reading. The page set-up and font spacing are thoughtfully chosen for pleasurable reading. The missing star in my rating, however, is due to an inking issue of a sort that likely affects only such as I, who experience the benign nuisance of age-related eyesight deficiency. The print in my copy is just not dark enough, as though the book were produced on a copier that was starting to run out of ink. For my somewhat aging eyes, this makes it a slight strain to read, even in brief doses. I have deduced that the return to print was a labor of love. As such, I especially hope the print shortcoming would not deter anyone's inclination to buy the book. Nonetheless if there would be a printing with truly black ink, I would gladly purchase such a copy, and pass along my current book to a younger person who wouldn't think twice about the depth of ink color. Again, if you want a devotional to enhance your walk with God, this is a consummate Bible companion.

The Order of St. Brigit, Knoxville has been using this book during 2021 and it has been such a blessing. It is wonderful to have the daily readings, but also the reflections are excellent and though challenging, also deepening our spiritual lives.

at first I did not like this book as we were using it for a group. Then a year later we pulled it out and it has been wonderful for our college students

Different approach to devotionals - a chapter at a time with 7 suggested readings. Then it has excerpts/quotes related to the week's topic. Good stuff though - grace centered.

This book is incredible!

The Blue Book has been my companion for over two years... since I was given an earlier edition. The prayer format makes it a great guide for times in the Word around a very significant themes. He has orchestrated the themes of this book to touch every corner of your soul. Enjoy and drink deeply!

I ordered the books to give away because I have used it before in my devotions and like the format. The quotes from other authors, contemporary and ancient are well worth reading.

someone recommended it for a teen Bible study; not what I expected and didn't use it

God has really used this book in my wife. I've been a Quaker pastor since 1980, at two churches and at George Fox University. Four and a half years agi I had a stroke and lost my speech, couldn't drive, and had to quit psstoring. Then three years ago I had two heart attacks, both if which could have killed me. I still couldn't talk, couldn't drive, but my wife and my three sons kept loving me. Then two years ago came down with stage-4 cancer and had to begin taking opium and smoking marijuana to make it through my 11 months if chemo, My wife and people in my life kept asking me "Are you depressed?" "No, the Lord is so close to me that I can tough Him" was what I thought, but I still couldn't talk, couldn't drive and the Lord held me close to Him. And the csncer went into remissiion. Then, my brother Brad, called me and invitied me to his clinic. There, I was able to stop the 22 months of taking Opiates, smoking pot, and the Lord brought be back to living for Him. I really want to praise the Lord for Brad and my brother Scott. Both of then have saved me. God brought me this book through the word of a friend, and He's really used it in my life. The pssssges are deep. They get me thiinking. They stimulate my mind. They give me strength to keep looking forward, longing to know the Lord who has bought me. Thanks you Jim. I have been using this tool since high school. I can't even call it a "devotional" because it is so much more than that. I'm currently on my 2nd Blue Book after having worn my first one to the point that large sections fell out and pages got lost. I also gave these out to about 10 high school girls that I counseled through the organization Young Life (which is how I got this book to begin with). This tool gave me the chance to know my God more and to connect with him even when I was feeling my most lost. I wish I could give this 100 stars! It has changed the way I know God and the way I know myself through him. It has also helped me learn to navigate my Bible and introduced me to other authors and their works.

One day, while organizing our personal library at home, I stumbled upon a little blue paper back book with a cross on the cover. There was no title. No author listed. I didn’t know how it got into our collection or who wrote it, but in the midst of a dry spell in my spiritual pilgrimage, I began to crack it open each day and explore all that its contents had to offer. I don’t know how else to say it - this book has altered the course of life and my relationship with my Maker in more than one season. I eventually discovered that my wife had this treasure come into her possession during her time as a leader while taking HS kids to Young Life Camp one summer. My wife and I were both heavily involved in Young Life in our earlier years. It was the primary vehicle through which I personally came to faith and it had a profound impact on both of our lives...first as campers, then as leaders, and staff members before transitioning into the corporate world. Over the years I would email Jim’s office and obtain copies to give away to friends and family for their own journeys. To my complete utter surprise and delight, I just realized that this book is now offered to to the rest of the world on demand. If you’re just now discovering this resource and thinking of purchasing it, consider this Jesus giving you the final nudge.

The Blue Book was given to me as a gift when I was in college by a good friend and mentor. I didn't utilize it until after college when I was desiring to establish a quiet time and deepen my faith through spiritual disciplines. I found the Blue Book from college and committed to engage with it daily. What started out as drudgery soon turned to discipline. But what I wasn't expecting was my devotional times quickly turned to delight. This book provided the perfect structure through daily guidance of scripture focused around a topic. I could search the scriptures for myself, engage with prayer and then read the timeless truths gleaned by others. The format was perfect as it increased my handle on scripture. I can honestly say that this devotional book changed the way I approach the Lord and has brought a healthy spiritual rhythm to my life. It is one of my treasured possessions and often used as a tool to disciple and mentor other young women who are desiring to engage more deeply in the Word of God and with the Lord. I've been reading this book for the past 6 months and it's been so spiritually good for me. I've been able to engage with scripture more intellectually and it has given me structure in a season of life that I really needed it. This is a topical devotion, so it will not go through an entire book of the Bible, but has been very life-giving to me. The reading reflections that go with each topic make this devotional better than any other I've had, it's like having 100 different resources in one accessible place.

I love Jim Branch's Blue Book because it truly invites the Spirit to move in my time with the word. It somehow creates space for the Spirit to speak to everyone uniquely with the way it combines prayers, scriptures, readings and more prayer. Such a simple and yet sacred rhythm of spending time with the Lord. Very accessible for anyone. I started reading it when I was a young Christian and still glean the same level of challenge and insight 10 years later. Often times reading devotionals seem watered down, or I hear too much of the voice of the author. Jim Branch humbly directs every word on every page towards Jesus Christ and it is so refreshing. It offers so much "meat" while remaining simple and focused. I have heard the Lord's voice through disciplining myself as I read this book every morning. It gets better and better every year. Can even be a really amazing tool to use with discipleship or bible studies.

My Young Life leader gave me this book when I graduated from high school. It provided me direction in my spiritual life when I had none-- I was going off to college with no one I knew and desperately searching for Jesus: to know Him better, to seek him more faithfully and to learn spiritual disciplines that would lead me to an intimate and deep relationship with Jesus. This book guided me in all of those things and much more. It is a devotional that I can continually come back to when my fickle and sinful human heart wanders because this book is soaked in Jesus-- who searches for us in darkness and in light (Psalm 139). Wherever you are in your walk with God and wherever you are going in your walk-- this devotional is for you.

This book radically changed the way I viewed the Gospel. It taught me how to seek and tune my heart to the desires of The Lord. It provided direction and consistency in my daily walk with Jesus. I learned how to pray and why we truly should pray. On the flip side, it taught me how to be still and hear the sweet, quiet voice of our Father in the midst of the very loud and confusing world. As a YL leader, it has been my greatest honor to get my hands on a few of these books over the past 5 years and pass them on to some of my sweet high school gals who are really beginning to learn what this walk with Christ really looks like/ all the joy, peace, and security it provides. I am so thankful for you Jim Branch. I am so thankful you listened to Jesus when he placed on your heart the desire to write these words on a page. I am so excited that these words are so easily accessible now.

The Blue Book has been my go-to devotional for at least 15 years. As it is set up with flexibility for how the reader utilizes the resources, I have never tired of it. This is a book you can use year after year without it feeling stale or redundant. I'm so glad it's now available on Amazon!

This book IS literally the quiet, humble surprise book of my life! It is -- in itself - just like the person of Jesus - inauspicious, gentle, amazingly powerful for those who venture into it!! The Blue Book is all about attraction, not promotion. If it weren't for the years of challenge in distributing to meet ever-expanding demand, I'm sure Jim would not have even put this quiet jewel on Amazon, as it has been sent by the box-full all over America for many years now, known & cherished by many who only could receive it through a friend who cares! I describe it as the very greatest topical collection of quotes and content, from the greatest Christian books ever written, by the greatest authors we've yet to experience. This is the second most important book in my library and I can honestly say I've given out more than one hundred of these as gifts - a rare gift indeed.

A friend in Young Life gave me this devotional 10 or 12 years ago. I am now 34 and still reach for this on the bookshelf if I want to spend some quality time studying & growing in my faith. It's a wonderful devotional in a fantastic format.

This book will bless, encourage, and challenge your heart as you seek to know the Savior who is already seeking you. With its strong anchor of reading the Word daily, I don't know of a better book to help cultivate intimacy with Christ. I have worked through it many times, finding it to be a welcome haven from other Christian books that involve what seems to be too much talk. The Blue Book offers just the right amount of flexibility for the care free and the right amount of structure for Type A's (like myself). The bottom line is that Jim's book helped reveal God's heart to me (and to all the friends and family I've given it to), so I can't recommend it enough. There is no greater pursuit for our hearts than to experience His pursuit of ours.

This is by far the best devotional I have ever used. It is intentional and methodical. The daily psalms and scripture readings speak to that week's theme perfectly and the range of sources for the readings for response is impressive. It is challenging and encouraging and has walked me through both fruitful and dry seasons of my faith.

I have had my original Blue Book for about 5 years. It has so many highlights, stars, and creased pages. I have used it as a small group leader with High School Girls and they truly love the readability and accessibility of this book. Because each chapter is based on a theme, it is an awesome tool for planning talks/sermons. I love the personal touch Jim Branch has added in this "new and improved" version!!!

This is structured week, easy to use and apply daily. It's broken into weeks instead of a specific day which allows you to flow easier within a busier schedule.

This book is wonderful! It is the perfect balance between structure and freedom in a devotional and has some of the best quotes around. The Blue Book has been my go-to for quite a while and it never gets old or repetitive. I would recommend this to anybody!
