I love this book because it has a sampling of many of the great composers. It contains music of a great variety of abilities as far as levels of playing ability are concerned. Certainly not for the beginning student, but nevertheless it's a wonderful compilation of great music. If you have a pretty good basic grasp of the piano and you're willing to work, you can probably find something in here to work on! And if you're an accomplished musician, you also can find something (many somethings!) in here to enjoy.

This book has got me addicted to my piano again. All my favorite composers. The arrangements are slightly challenging, just enough to keep my sight-reading skills sharp.

This book is full of a lot of great songs, and the price is also great! I not only have this book, but I have my more advanced piano students get this book when they are up to level 6 or so in a piano lesson series. Some of the songs are very hard, but others are do-able, so it is the kind of book you will play out of for life.

My biggist need for piano music bought online is to know exactly how difficult the music is. I play a lot of classical...this book has mostly pieces which have been transcribed from orchestral...such as adagio for strings. They are nice transcriptions, many not found elsewhere, and only of moderate difficulty (I actually prefer them to be a bit harder but it is by no means an easy or beginner book) so it is a good book for sight reading practice. There is out there the same book with easier versions of the music...I have forgotten the title. Nice collection.

I have had a wonderful time with this book since purchasing it a year ago. I play from it nearly every day and it got me excited about playing regularly again. It has a wonderful variety of music from popular (classical) composers, and there were many pieces I had heard before but didn't know the name or composer. From the Bach's delicate "Prelude in C Major" to the Handel's majestic "Hallelujah Chorus", from the slow "Resurrection" by Mahler to the Hadyn's brisk "Gypsy Rondo", there is a style to match just about any mood or occasion. I wish I had purchased this book years ago. I highly recommend it!

It was just what I wanted and expected. It is important to me that the music spans baroque to the present day and the time period selections/composers are appropriate. I want my students to have an appreciation for all music from all time periods. And I want them to better understand music history. Thank you very much

great songs

I bought it for my 13 year old son he has been playing the panio for 8 months an he has learned alot from The Big Book Clssical.

The book is very good. I wish it had a spiral back because it can get a bit difficult to keep the book open from time to time. This book is for advance level pianist. My one big issue I have with this book is that pedal markings are removed from all pieces. There are pieces were the composer clearly marked pedal but on the arrangements here the pedal markings are gone. Overall is a good buy but not for beginners, advance-intermediate to advance level pianist will get the most out of it.

I ordered this as a gift but ended up keeping one for myself because it contained a lot of pieces I wanted. I guess no one book contains everything you want but this is a great book.

The piano pieces are fine. My problem is with the pieces adapted from orchestra scores. They are too simplistic and I don’t like the arrangements at all. I wish the editor would have scrapped all those adaptations and just included the Moonlight Sonata.

The Big Book of Classical Music is excellent. There are some easy to play versions as well as more difficult ones for a middle of the road pianist. Great selection of music.

I am very pleased with the Big Book of Classical Music that I ordered. It is a collection of various pieces by the classical composers that I remember learning as a piano student many years ago. It is nice to find them all in one place! The grade level is very comfortable. Not for the beginner student, however. They would want something a little more elementary. It has become a favorite.

great book good text, great songs

Not a beginners book, but not out of the reach of an amateur. The selection is great, and I've found myself picking one piece at a time and working through it. A great array of classical favorites.

Great book for intermediate to advanced pianists. This is definitely not a book for beginners, but if you are experienced, you'll probably find this to be a great book with an excellent collection of classics!

Indeed I can confirm this is a Big Book of Classical Music. All the intended words and musical notes the author wanted on the pages seemed to be there. The cover and pages were in good form, not torn and nowhere did I notice the ink run.

If you love to play classical piano music this is a very good book. It comes with a lot of great pieces.

Great, big book of classical music. Good for all levels of playing if you have a basic understanding of piano theory and can sight-read. I bought this to brush up on my playing and am happy I did. Great selection of classical favorites and others I was not all that familiar with.

Very annoyed that the extra money required for oversea posting etc from America was so much more than I expected.............it has taken the pleasure off the item. I will try to avoid buying anything direct from USA in future.

This book claims to be “all your favorite piano masterpieces” by Bach, Beethoven, etc. To me, a piano masterpiece is a piece written for piano by a certain composer, but these are nearly all arrangements of other works, such as operas and symphonies, and of course the arrangements were not done by the composers themselves. There are wonderful piano pieces by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Grieg, and the other composers, but hardly any of them are included here. I would suggest “The Piano Bench of Classical Music” or either of the “Library of Piano Classics” volumes instead, if you want original piano works by the famous composers.

Went to the local library in search of some Classical wedding/sacred music and checked out this book. It has both Mendelssohn's Wedding March and Wagner's Bridal Chorus as well as Pachebel's Canon in D. Like these pieces, there are a lot of arrangements of symphonic favorites - think a "Greatest Hits" Classical collection - but the quality is high. Most are moderate/advanced diffuculty- about the level of Thompson's grade 5 book, or Mozart's Sonata in C (I am a piano teacher). The original pieces for piano tend to be a little harder. The Baroque pieces (Bach, Handel, Haydn) are a bit easier. There is also the theme from "Masterpiece Theatre" (RONDEAU by Jean-Joseph Mouret)

Good collection of songs.Some are a challenge and some are for sight reading. I found wrong note on page 214 on the bottom line right measure left hand, it is D not B.

I bought this for prelude/postlude music when I played for my church. There is enough in here of all levels that I never needed to look very hard to find something to play. Made my job easy!

It’s exactly what I expected.

Difficult to hold down the pages when playing, but this happens with most very large books. Otherwise it's easy to read music and has a large selection which will keep me occupied for a long time and a book which will help progressing learning. Late Intermediate onwards I would say. I've found 5 pieces I can play which are very enjoyable and plenty more to go.

This book is brilliant - there's loads of classical pieces you might not recognise until you play them, and there's loads of well-known ones. They're written well so that they're not too easy and with a bit of practice lots of them are playable. I really enjoy going through this book and finding new pieces I hadn't realised were in there before!

I was looking for a selection of classical music to play as I want to keep trying something new and I need something to stretch me a bit. I learnt the piano as a child but then didn't play at all from the time I was 15 until last year when I bought a piano. I'm in my fifties now so that was a very long time to go rusty - but I'm really enjoying playing now as I never did as a child! I think I got to about Grade 3 before I stopped learning, so I find that some of the pieces in this book are too difficult for me, but I aspire to be able to play them one day. Others are much easier so there is a very good range. I find that some of the arrangements of pieces not originally written for piano require you to play more notes with one hand at the same time than I'm really capable of doing. There is something here by every composer I've ever heard of and a few I haven't, ranging in time roughly from Bach to Sullivan. The book is nicely produced and stays open properly on the music rack without either splitting along the spine or shutting itself up when you don't want it to. I would recommend it to an enthusiastic amatuer pianist like me who wants to learn to play a variety of music.

The trouble with buying piano music on line you can’t see the difficulty or otherwise of the music. This is the case with this book. As a relatively new pianist I found this book too difficult

This is a great music book! If you are an intermediate piano player, you'll find this book enjoyable. It has a good-quality spine, which prevents the book from closing by itself. The music is clear and the arrangements are accurate. After 4 months of using this book, not only have I thoroughly enjoyed it, my sight reading has improved dramatically. It is also very good value for what you get.

Great selection of some of the most recognisable classical pieces. Crisp printing and great transcription. There are pieces to challenge beginners as well as intermediate players.

The arrangements are perhaps a little too simple but such a good choice. Possible to interperate and add to bass. Enjoying very much.

Lovely and varied selection of tunes. My son is working on grade 7 and these pieces are a nice compliment to the grade.

This book on classical piano pieces is excellent as a stepping stone in developing the skills needed to playing the piano.

Great selection. Purchased this as a gift and they loved the selection of music. Only complaint is the book is heavy and sometimes difficult to keep the pages open unless you have a music sheet stand.

Das Buch hat Stärken und Schwächen. Die Auswahl der Songs ist gut, man kennt viele bis alle. Allerdings ist die Übersetzung der z.T. Orchestermusik für Klavier manchmal sehr einfach gemacht und für erfahrene Klavierspieler zu öde. Das Buch eignet sich eher für Klavierspieler, die nette Musik nachspielen wollen, ohne hohe Ansprüche zu stellen.

Some repetition from the other large book I ve purchased the giant book of classical, but those works that are not repeated... well worth having then!!! The binding is perfect, easy to turn the pages. Lovely collection. Will keep me busy for many day and month to come. Attaching photos of content in case there is anyone in my situation , has more then one of similar books and would like to compare. Hope this helps
