Love the artwork, and details contain in this book, my only gripe is since there's a lot of pages the adhesive in the lower part of the book spine detached a bit after reading. Or maybe there was little adhesive, since the top part is still attached. Or maybe read it on a flat surface instead of in the air with your hands. Still I'm glad I bought it.

Media of all kinds is explored and discussed, including storyboards, 3D renders, concept art and images that didn't make the final cut. A little pricier than most artbooks, but Ballistic has it for $60! Best to get it here on Amazon, it's worth the money.

Well this art book has everything from commentary from not only the art team at santa monica studios but from the creators of the book series itself. This is a fantastic art book and i highly recommeded to fans of the God of War games.

Is everything you want from an art book. All the artistic content including high resolution and high poly 3D models. And the treatment of the product by ballistic is also flawless. Great treatment in every aspect very well packeged.

i liked it even though it came with a tiny little damage on the bottom left of the border nothing important was scratched or ripped so it didn't really matter. Other than that package came a day or two earlier than i had thought and the book is awesome

The Art of God of War III is the second book in the Art of the Game series from Ballistic Publishing. Mine's the paperback edition but for the hardcore collectors, you can indulge yourself with the limited Special edition and the Folio edition, which have suede leather-bound covers and other luxurious finishing. In this book are character studies, 3D models, environment art, production art and storyboards. Just because the imagery doesn't move in this book doesn't make them any less intense. That's my first impression of the book. The concept art is incredible. The work featured are beautiful and extremely detailed. You get to see the true pained face of Hades (sculpted and textured), know whether or not Kratos brushes his teeth from the texture maps, laugh at the straightened out snakes on Gorgon Serpent's head as its in the T-pose, get close with the hot Poseidon Princess and Aphrodite, or just marvel at the muscles, blisters, or intestines of various creatures that made it into the game, as well as many of those that didn't. All the things you want to get a closer look on, but just can't because they happen too fast on screen, are now all captured in high resolution for your viewing. The designs are amazing. After looking at them, I'm not too sure who my favourite character is anymore. A good portion of the book is devoted to the atmospheric environments on the game. You can see these spectacular places as they were in their concept stages, and compare them to the production art which is close to what you see in the game. Everything just looks really grand, Olympus City, Hades' underworld, Hercules' Arena, Labyrinth and all. This is truly one hell of a world that can only be created by talented artists. There's also the commentary and interesting information that weren't even in the bonus section of the game disc. The art direction for the game and art is wonderful. I spent £224.51 I expected to get the full art of god of war book but what I got sent was a really bad small art book of god of war that looks like it's worth £10.00 I want my money back or to send the official book i ordered.i would no advice anyone to buy books from them if this is a mistake then I understand but if not there trying to scam you out of your money ... I'm really pissed off about this it cost me alot of money and what I received is not the same book in the photos ...

Kratos, der griesgrämige Hauptprotagonist aus God of War, schnetzelt sich in mittlerweile sieben Ablegern (wenn man den bald erscheinenden Teil Ascension mitzählt) munter durch die griechische Götter- und Sagenwelt und hat sich zu einer festen Größe in der Videospiel-Welt etabliert. Noch in diesem Monat folgt der vierte Ableger für Sonys stationäre Konsolen, God of War: Ascension. Gameplay- und inhalts-technisch könnte die Spieleserie so langsam einen Neuanstrich vertragen. Irgendwie hat man sich an Kratos’ Rachefeldzug und seinen, vor Blut triefenden, Abenteuern satt gesehen (jedenfalls geht es mir so). Inszenatorisch hingegen kann dem Kriegsgott kaum ein Spiel das Wasser reichen. Im Artbook zum dritten Teil erhält man einen umfassenden Blick hinter die Kulissen des Actionspektakels und kann sich perfekt auf den neuen Teil der Serie einstimmen. Das Artbook aus dem Hause Ballistic Publications ist sowohl als Softcover (hier vorgestellt), sowie auch als hochwertige – und zugleich deutlich teurere Version – im Ledereinband erhältlich. Das Buch umfasst 272 Seiten, welche etliche Grafiken aus der Design-Abteilung der Santa Monica Studios abbilden. The Art of God of War III ist in verschiedene Bereiche wie Storyboards, Character Designs (2D und 3D), Environments,Weapon Designs, uvm. gegliedert und lässt dabei keinerlei Wünsche offen. begleitet werden die vielen Bilder durch Erläuterungstexte, die einige Details zu den Werken der Designer preisgeben. Besonders die Character Designs sind sehr detailliert beschrieben und machen den Großteil des Buches aus. Endlich hat man die Chance, sich die Figuren aus dem Spiel, fernab von Action und Hektik, in Ruhe anzuschauen und deren Detailreichtum zu genießen. Im Buch finden sich dabei nicht nur zweidimensionale Zeichnungen wieder, sondern auch 3D-Skulpturen, welche die Charaktere des Spiels aus allerlei Winkeln näher beleuchten. Hier erfährt man auch, was sich hinter Maske des Hades verbirgt. Zusätzlich werden im Buch einige Designs gezeigt, die es nie ins fertige Spiel geschafft haben. So sieht man auf zwei Seiten bspw. Konzeptentwürfe zu einem elefanten-artigen Gegner, der erst in Ascension seinen Auftritt haben wird. Durch meine Erfahrungen mit den Artbooks von UDON (bspw. The Art of Capcom) bin ich ehrlich gesagt kein großer Fan von Softcover-Büchern. Die Qualität des Ballistic Publications Artbooks ist allerdings über jeden Zweifel erhaben und überzeugt mit relativ dicken Seiten, sowie einer hochwertigen Klebung. Man hat nie das Gefühl, als könnte man bei unvorsichtigem Blättern etwas kaputt machen. Lediglich der schwarz glänzende Einband stößt etwas sauer auf, da er extrem anfällig für Fingerabdrücke ist. Fazit The Art of God of War III ist ein überaus gelungenes Buch geworden, das ich jedem Fan der Serie (und natürlich besonders denen des dritten Teils) ans Herz legen möchte. Es ist sehr detail- und umfangreich bebildert, spannend geschrieben und hochwertig verarbeitet. Die Making Ofs, welche man auf der Spieledisc findet, waren zwar schon sehr interessant. Kurz gesagt: Tolles Buch, kann ich jedem empfehlen. Ist auch viel Text dabei (Englisch), was sehr hilfreich an einigen Stellen ist. Das Buch scheint nicht sehr stabil zu sein, also nicht zu viel damit rumlaufen, da sonst einige Seiten rausreißen können. Es wurde gutes, hochwertiges Papier benutzt, die Farben sind gut und die Artworks sind in hoher Qualität dargestellt. Ansonsten ein sehr gelungenes Artbook, was bei jedem Designer etc. im Bücherregal stehen sollte.

Étant donné que je suis une passionnée de la mythologie grecque, je m’étais portée vers le jeu God of War que j’ai trouvé excellent (et que je n’ai pas terminé – mais c’est une autre histoire) et j’en suis donc venu tout naturellement à me procurer cet Artbook (puisque je suis également une passionnée de ce type d’ouvrage). Pour resituer une peu dans le contexte, God of War est l’histoire d’un spartiate maudit, qui après avoir servi les Dieux dans le premier volume (parce qu’il y a trois grands épisodes pour ce jeu), se retourne finalement contre eux sous prétexte de trahison pour ne pas lui avoir accordé ce qu’il demandait (soit l’oubli de tous ses pêchers si je me souviens bien). En clair, vous êtes dans la peau d’un parfait antihéros bien sanguinaire qui va régler ses comptes avec chacun des Dieux en terminant par la cible ultime : Zeus. Cela dit, même en ne connaissant absolument rien au jeu, je pense que l’on peut sans peine être réceptif au contenu de l’ouvrage, car il est vraiment très bien construit et magnifique. 271 pages de régale sans discontinuer dans lesquelles on nous présente les différents personnages, les différentes créatures, les modelages en 3D, les différentes armes, et les très nombreux décors. Le travail qui a été fait est juste impressionnant ! Gros point d’honneur pour Poséidon qui est vraiment très réussi, et un Zeus absolument magistral ! Il y a énormément d’images et juste ce qu’il faut en texte explicatif. En revanche, les points négatifs sont les suivants : n’ayant malheureusement pas fait l’objet d’une traduction, la langue est en anglais. Cela dit, en dépit de mon niveau ridiculement médiocre, je suis quand même parvenu à comprendre sans difficulté majeure. La seconde chose qui m’a un peu chiffonné, c’est que le livre est en version brochée. Je sais qu’il y a eu plusieurs versions pour cet ouvrage (brochée, relié, relié cuir) mais bon, quand je suis arrivée, il ne restait plus que les brochées. Pas de chance pour moi !

Was soll man zu diesem Buch noch viel sagen, alle Infos findet man in den bisherigen Rezensionen und kann sich dank dem Video ein gutes Bild dieses Artbooks machen. Die Druckqualität ist 1A, das Layout und die Gestaltung einfach super, und das dargebotene Bildmaterial sowie informative Hintergrunddetails einfach wunschlos perfekt. Must-Have für jeden God of War Fan und Tipp für jeden Grafik-Begeisterten!
