Exciting, adventure, beautiful, and kids can't take their eyes or ears off of it

This book keeps my kids attention from start to finish. They are involved in the reading and on the edge of their seats each time. The pictures are gorgeous!!! The illustration is inspired by real buildings and sights in Scandinavia. There is education wrapped up into this magical adventure of a story as well as a moral lesson of including everyone. This has been our favorite book for a while and I only see it getting replaced by the new Lily book when she goes to Japan. As for the inappropriate wording mentioned in another review, just for context, it refers to the Vikings who get excluded from the Midsummer festival because of their bad actions in the past. Lily helps them get a second chance and part of that is them saying they won't do .......... Its history and it's factual.

Have you bought it yet? Got a kid? Gotta buy this book.

This is a little gem we found on Instagram and couldn’t be more happy with our purchase. We also have the free e-copy offered by the authors during early pandemic days. The hardback is a MUST though. Our 6 year old absolutely loves reading Lily Huckleberry’s adventures. This book is absolutely wonderful for little people who love travel, adventure, culture, and food. It actually makes an interesting read for some grown ups too. The language is easy and we love how some local words are illustrated with pronunciation. The illustrations are unique and engaging. The hard bound book is very well made. The paper and print quality is top class. I see myself gifting this book to all the little readers around me. PS : We also bought the Japan Book. Same review :)

So much fun to read

** Review written by my daughter Maya Sara Karthik ** I love this book! It's a charming tale of the little girl Lily Huckleberry who goes on a magical adventure to Scandinavia. The book is beautifully illustrated, and super fun to read from the word go. My sister asked me to read it to her three times just today! I think this book will be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. 😊 🧡

Great cultural Story,poor pictures

Delightful romp of a story and wee adventure achieved the goal of having a read-aloud related to cultural, fun traditions. Great size of book to share on laps! However, illustrations are distractingly stylized, poor color design and crude. In the world of illustration, these were amateur and created “too small” of scale to be “enlarged” for the books format—as the pixel size blurred and flattened images making them appear “rough”. Story should re-publish w pro-illustrator and would sell a series of these clever “adventures” for many cultures! Success potential!!!

What a beautiful and fun book

The creators really went out of their way to publish a book that is a work of art. From the treatment on the cover to the paper weight, to the surprise beautifully stitched patch inside, this book is a collectors dream. The fun and whimsical story works so well with the lovely illustrations. It's a bit of a read if you're used to quick chapter books, but my six year old daughter insisted we read the entire thing. Highly recommend. Oh ya, I really appreciated the pronunciation guides so that i didn't butcher the language while reading to my kid.

a very fun adventure that you need to read!

Love this whimsical tale about Lily Huckleberry and her Worldwide Adventure Society that you will be sure to desire to join! She takes you to Scandinavia for her 1st adventure and she teaches you much about the culture and customs within fabulous illustrations and great fun! Your children will love to listen as you read this book or enjoy reading it themselves. There is so much information about the culture, pronunciations for words and much much fun hidden in the pages! I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves to learn about other countries! Can't wait to see where Lily travels to next!

So much adventure fun!

This is such a cute story. A strong female character going on an adventure, stepping past her fear to learn and explore. Offering a second chance to a character who did a genuine apology, perfect. I loved the phonetics being included and my most favorite part was the rainbow slide.

Great story with actual facts.

My daughter likes this book series, especially collecting the patches. It really interested her to learn about Scandaniva and vikings. I had read someone did not like the book because of one line lily says to the vikings about promising not to burn down anymore houses. They don't do anything violent in the book and it a historical reference about the viking past, my five year old was not alarmed by it and it did not bother me.

Delightful

This book is a delight to look at and to read. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is absorbing; my 4-year-old wants to read it multiple times per day. She loved earning a patch at the end of the book and is also thrilled with the possibility of sending/receiving (possibly? We haven't tried yet) mail to Lily herself. I can't wait to buy Lily in Japan!

Magical book / my book of the year choice

I rarely post reviews, but this book is so magical, I felt like I want to share it with the whole world. We just finished reading with my almost 5yo. Great adventure, pictures, everything. I truly spoiled both of us with this book. Ah, and the size. Perfect size. Not too big, not small. And no annoying paper cover aa most of books do. Pure pleasure to read.

Loved going on this fun educational adventure!

I got this for my grandkids (ages 4 and 6) to help them learn about where their ancestors came from. They loved it and loved learning about Scandinavia. This book helped them learn about the world, human emotions (belly wobbles and collywobbles) and overcoming them, and to look forward to the adventures each day brings. It also teaches them to forgive past wrongs-that people shouldn't be judged as a group and to look for the good in people. While my initial plan was for them to learn about their Scandinavian roots but now want to learn about other parts of the world- Japan here we come! Hope there many more books coming in this series!

Absolutely loved- and a great gift idea!! 🤎🙏🏽

This book is so adorable!!!! We love reading about adventures all over the world and I was so excited to see Scandinavia! My family is Scandinavian, so my kids got to learn about their ancestry even more in a fun and creative way! We followed up in the back with the “did you know” & more details by searching similar YouTube videos and checking out their inspiration (like trolltunga, Norway) & related it to our most recent 10 mile hike! All around, it was just such a great way for the kids to learn and enjoy Lily’s adventures - and inspired dreams of our own!!

Engaging story inspiring travel in young readers :)

I came across this book when exploring books for my trip to Scandinavia and really enjoyed how cultural history, traditions, and words were interwoven and explained throughout the story. As well, I felt that it was a great book to inspire curiosity and a desire to travel the world to explore as Lily does. For Christmas in 2020, I bought a copy of this book for all my nieces and nephews which was especially appropriate since we have Scandinavian ancestors and as I am their redheaded traveling auntie :)

Perfect book for chapter book starters

I bought this book for my daughter (4) as she got more interested in longer stories. This book is perfect for her. It is beautifully made, the pictures are so cute with many funny details and the text fun. She loves it and we read it over and over again. In addition you learn a lot about Scandinavia even fun facts. I can only recommend this book! I hope there will be many new adventures of Lily Huckleberry. We can't wait.

Beautiful book!

This book is stunning! I love the artwork and cute story. I've had it less than a week and already ordered one for someone else. If you enjoy children's books, this book is a must have for your collection. I can't wait to order the other books in her series. My kids (4.5 and 3) enjoyed this book.

Beautiful

Wow! This book is gorgeous with the most captivating illustrations. My 6 and 4 year olds were enthralled by Lily and her adventures. They learned about new countries and love the patch that comes in the book. The pages in the back have fun facts, but also things you can go back and look for in the illustrations. So much fun! When we finished, my kids were disappointed the story was over and immediately asked for the next in the series. We can't wait to read more of Lily's adventures!

The Illustrations, the story line, the adventure! It's all amazing!

We purchased this book for a country study only to realize that we had been missing out!! I wish I had found these books sooner! The story is captivating, the illustrations are vibrant and magical! It is truly a favorite in our family library!!

worth EVERY penny

This book is SO cute. My 4yo daughter absolutely loves Lily! She relates to her silly and adventurous spirit. Masterfully mixed in with the story is a beautiful representation of culture. We can’t wait for more Lily adventures!

Beautiful Book with thick pages & global perspective

I was a bit leery of buying this book, but it is well worth the cost. The hardback version is sturdy and beautiful. The story is a compelling adventure that has many tie in possibilities with non-reading learning such as globe discussion and foreign word acquisition.

Good book.

My five year old granddaughter liked the book. I just thought it was good, but not outstanding. We read so many books, that my standards are very high. It’s a good fun way for a young child to learn about the Scandinavian countries.

cute book

I would change some of the dialogue, story line is neither strong or weak, but overall cute book and educational about Scandinavia and tries to inspire adventure!

A Treasure to Add to a Child’s Library!

Gorgeous book, filled with tons of action, bright illustrations to keep kids interested. And as a mom I loved all the learning that was happening about new countries. Can’t wait to read the others!

The Best New Series of Books

I found this series of books when I was looking for a gift for my 8 year old granddaughter. I have years of experience in children's literature. This series is one of the best I have seen in a long time. The books contain adventure, humor, mystery, and great artwork. It teaches children in such an engaging manner. It makes acquiring new knowledge about our world fun. I think these books would make an excellent source for children's book clubs.

Highly recommend

This is a perfect book for anyone looking to expand your children's book collection. The illustrations are lovely in the story this week. I specifically purchased it because my niece is named Lily and I thought this would be a lovely addition for her to have. Highly recommend even if your name isn't Lily.

Book arrived without the patch

My 6-year-old’s favorite book series! Docked a star on this particular purchase because it originally arrived sans patch, and the returns/exchange process was a bit of a chore from my location.

Cute story

Gorgeous illustrations and a surprise patch!

Cutest adventure books

My 3 and 5 year old loves this book. The illustration kept them wondering what was coming next! Everytime we entered a new country they rushed to get the globe so we could find it! Lily was so endearing!!! Can’t wait to go to Japan with her next

Loved learning about different cultures

We loved reading about Lily traveling and experiencing all different cultures. The pictures are beautiful and whimsical and the story adorable. We love the series! Can't wait to see where Lily goes next!

We love Lily Huckleberry

We loooove love Lily Huckleberry. The illustrations are gorgeous and it's the perfect mix of whimsy and learning. Ordered the rest in the series to go with some geography/culture learning

Whimsical fun!

My 6 year old daughter absolutely adores this book! It’s long and exciting and whimsical. We’re definitely buying the rest of the series and hope the author keeps writing more!

Wonderful book

Wonderful book! I learned a lot reading it to my little girl, even as an adult.

Buy this book! I can’t wait for more to come out!

Such a beautiful book! It made for wonderful unique gifts!

Delightful Illustrations!

Hello Beautiful World! What if we all started our days that way!? This book is charming with delightful illustrations. My daughter and I have read this book over and over again and it’s my go-to Birthday party gift!

Great Book

Love these books for 4 year olds and up. We wrote to Lily and she wrote back!

Great Book, Beautiful Illustrations

Beautiful illustrations and really captivated the imagination of my children (ages 6B, 6G, 5G,5G,4B), we read it as a family.

A must!

Absolutely lovely!!

A Treasure

What a wonderful little book. I can hardly wait to share it with my granddaughter. Concerns have been voiced in other reviews about references to the historical activities of the Vikings of old. I took no offense to this; it's part of history, not to be denied, but put into beautiful perspective in this story. The colorful illustrations are magical, and help bring Lily's Scandinavian adventures to life. I loved the appendices at the end of the book, also---they add depth and authenticity to the story. Like others, I anxiously await the arrival of Lily Huckleberry's second book of adventures.

Fun peek into another country.

I thought this was a very creative book. It was entertaining to get a glimpse into Scandinavia during the search for the strawberries to save the Scandinavian Mid Summer Festival. It teaches what Scandinavia is and about some of their customs as well as history. There is also the message not to judge people by their past and to give second chances. I enjoyed the Scandinavian Art and even giggled at the reference of the person with a uni-brow. It was a bit long but I do recommend it.

Great Story that also teaches Culture

My 4.5 year old daughter loves this book about an adventurous young girl who travels to different locations, solving a mystery, and also learning about different cultures. The illustrations are gorgeous and the story is very fun! We also love to support a small company of two women who are the creators of this series. We are excited for the next book that sends Lily to Japan.

Engaging

My two bilingual daughters (5 and 7) adore this book. Full of cheerfulness and rhymes, they laugh and enjoy chanting together the funny charm that takes Lily Huckleberry into a world of travel. No excess waste explaining exactly how the magic works. Positive messages of acceptance and kindness are here, as well as learning a little (somewhat stereotypical but fun) things about Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. There is a lovely patch included in the book, though this could be difficult for children sharing one book.

highly recommend.

My daughter loves both this and the next book. Also she has written multiple letters to "lily Huckleberry" and she has responded. I think it is amazing and thoughtful and she has memorizing so much of it and reading all of it! Highly recommended.
