This book is AMAZING! I am a school teacher and I just changed schools; I initially thought this school move would be great, but I've run into issues with an unsupportive administration and negative colleagues. A friend recommended this book and it seems to be speaking right to me. Even if you don't follow the teachings of TD Jakes, you will be able to get so much wisdom and practical advice from this book if you work in a tough job situation. Reading this book has helped me to have more peace and patience about the negative things I've encountered while at work.

This is a must read for anyone who works somewhere that they hate. My coworkers made me so unhappy that I seriously dreaded going to work. This book helped me enjoy my job again and deal with my situation instead of letting everything get to me. It's more of a guide than an overly religious book. It truly helped me out of a dark place. I highly recommend it and I am NOT a TDJakes fan at all.

For anyone who is going into the workplace or in the workplace, this is a must read! First time, read it as quickly as possible to get it in your spirit quickly. Read it the second time slowly. TDJakes has an amazing way to put the principles of Gods Word into practical experiences in our daily work life. I had never thought of my work as being anointed from God. I needed this book, and it delivered above and beyond my expectations. So much so, Im going to reread it in its entirety. God bless you TDJakes as much as you have blessed me with your wisdom. A must read for all.

This book can be just as motivational in the secular world as well as in the spiritual because most of the teachings are based on a common sense approach to everyday office challenges. It's always easier to see the glass half full than to dwell on the fact that it might be half empty and Bishop Jakes takes the high road approach to working through troublesome coworkers and bosses. You'll find yourself reminiscing on past encounters with other-than-friendly coworkers and think about how you could have handled the situation better knowing some of the methods that Bishop Jakes teaches in this book.

I saw the DVD version to this book first; and then i came and realised there was a book version to it. I opted to get the book, so i would always have a handy reference to the same tools and principles taught in the dvd. It has forever changed my perspective on my job place and i wish that i had read this book years ago; there would've been many mistakes i wouldve avoided. But I intend to teach my children, what i know now, and when they are ready to go into the workplace, they would be more prepared than i was. If you have ever felt that your job was thankless and you were unappreciated - read this book and you will see things differently. It impacted my life and attitude so much that the change was obvious to my peers! My miserable co-workers wanted to hang around with me and be UPBEAT, too! This book taught me how to avoid the toxicity rampant in the workplace and the world! I wish I could attend services with T.D. Jakes; he is very "real" in this unreal world!

I rated this book 5 stars because it deserves just that, it spoke straight to my heart and touched areas that I have had problems with. I will definitely be recommending this book to all of my Christian friends because I know that it will help them as much as it has helped me. It's so good to know that someone actually understands what myself and many others face in the working environment. Well done T.D Jake's, well done couldn't have said it any better.

I learned a lot from this book. It’s practical and relatable. It’s not only about work per se. But its principles can help in day to day life’s events as well.

I loved this book. TD Jakes offers a refreshing perspective of one's work as it was chosen by God for God. I no longer resent my job or who I work for/with as I now understand that God has placed me where he needed me the most and to benefit him the most. I no longer feel resentment, mind games, or even tension. My work is through and for Christ alone. That's all that matters.

Mr Jakes reminds us through this book that GOD has given us all the tools needed to navigate a hostile workplace. I really like the writing style and the biblical references. If you find yourself absorbing the elements of a hostile environment, this book is for you!

I came across this message in the CD format, and so glad I did. TD Jakes gave a very clear outline, I am amazed at how much I needed to hear every word, and appreciate the tools given. I plan on buying additional copies of this for others, as well as shopping for more messages on CD from TD Jakes as a result of my satisfaction of this purchase.

This book was so on point! It was as if the writer was sitting on my shoulder and saw first hand the hostile work environment I had to endure. It was encouraging. It help me to understand the reason why and it strengthen me to move forward.You can fight the good fight when you have understanding.

I have never read a TD Jakes book. It is not an understatement to say that this book has changed my life. My life & worth used to be my job/career. After reading this book, I truly understand the real meaning of work & I believe I will have a happier, more fulfilled life. It was as if he was writing a book for me.

I love this book. It gave practical ways to deal with working in a hostile workplace. The Ten Commandments are universal, practical and very helpful. Great book to read alone or to use for a bible study.

Great tool for any Christian working in a hostile envinorment. Good goodly advise on how to deal with adversity in the work place. I listened to it 5 years ago when I was going through some very challaging times at work. Had to buy it agian for my morning prayer group. This is a keeper!

GREAT BOOK

This is the book if you're looking for guidance and answers while working in an dark environment. The writing is simply, not too complex so the reader can read with ease to gain understanding. Although I've finished the book I've revisited it several times. It provided tools that allowed me to have a better perspective on the war work zone.

I am a Christian but I don't know if I agree with everything Mr.Jakes believes theologically on every detail. This book really doesn't go in to specific theology. It gives sound advice that any Christian or anyone in general could follow about working on the job. At the time I bought this book I was working at a job that I hated and this book was one of the things that helped get me through. I'm in a better career now but I still remember some of the advice that I found in those pages.

Best guidance I have received to date about how to handle issues at work appropriately through the weapons we were intended to use (prayer, wisdom, long-suffering, understanding, compassion...) rather than with our deadly tongue or worse fingers (slander).

I worked at a particularly trying job, and really needed an attitude adjustment. This book helped me to look at the trials and tribulations of the job in a new way. I have also given this book as a gift to fellow employees who also were struggling. I think you'll like the message.

I had a friend who was going thru some very difficult times at work with a few co-workers. I saw the book and purchased it for myself but once I read it I knew that my friend could benefit from reading it so I gave it to her because her situation was more complex than mine. Ten Commandments of Working in a Hostile Environment is a great read for believers who find themselves working in an environment where their values and beliefs are challenged! It is very well written, easy to follow and contains great prayer ideas. I would recommend this book to anyone with a job, career or business. This is the second time I have read this book. However, given my current work situation, I could not put it down this time. What a great book!

Jakes doesn't work where I do.

This book is a lifeline for people who feel trapped in a job that seems meaningless. Bishop Jakes shows you where the meaning can be found, using God's Word as his guide. He starts by explaining that it is a compliment from God that you have been placed in such inauspicious surroundings and cites precedents from the Bible of others who were favored by God who faced similar challenges. The ten commandments of making the most of the "hostile season" during the process of overcoming are valid. Each one is described in detail. His grandmother taught Bishop Jakes by example. I won't spoil the surprise, but the lessons she imparted carried over from one generation to the next. The reader is reminded, "No matter where you are right now...God has not abandoned you of the dreams that He's seeded in your heart." Each chapter concludes with a prayer designed to help you apply what you have just been taught. I didn't want the book to end. I read it slowly, relishing it, marking it, highlighting key points, and adding margin notes. This is my reading style anyway, but for this book my interaction was intensified due to the book's richness. This is the kind of book that can be read, re-read, and read some more.

I purchased this book years ago, and I also purchased the audio tapes.. This has blessed my soul and spirit so much, that I had to pull them both off of my library shelf to revisit them. This series brought me through before and I am going to use it along with prayer to bring me through again. It is sad that many people in the work environment are unhappy in their lives and bring the mess and issues to work. I look at the good of my circumstances which is the fact that my current employment is pushing me into my next career. So it is a bitter sweet blessing. If you are going through in the work place, this book is a must have... I have used it before, and am now going to use it again. It will be a breath of fresh air to re visit this one, as it has been a while since I have read/heard this series. However from my memory, it is an awesome series that brought me through.... Amen!

I didn't think this would be super applicable to where I was in my walk with God. It is a simple read, but I found I couldn't really put the book down. God convicted me of areas that I STILL hadn't submitted to those in authority over me. He speaks very plainly and clearly. Many of us work in less than ideal areas whether it be the work, the people we work with, the conditions, etc. He speaks as one who understands the pressures and I found the Holy Spirit convicting me of areas that still needed work. There were even times I found myself angry at what Brother Jakes wrote. Then, I knew it was my own flesh speaking and warring against the Word of God. That's a tough one. I am appreciative of Brother Jakes being used of God to write how we can better work for the companies we work for -- if we as Christians don't do the best jobs, then what does that say about who we are as people in Christ?

The ten principles explained in detail in this book are for the secular, "work" world, and should be remembered along with the Ten Commandments of the Bible. Written by a "bishop" who authored the book and produced the movie, WOMAN, THOU ART LOOSED! His Ten committments: 1. Know that you are anointed for the job or position you now hold! 2. Don't expect to be appreciated. 3. Embrace opportunities for change. 4. Do the job well while remembering the vision. 5. Don't let the environment get inside of you. 6. Increase your capacity to work with difficult personalities. 7. Where you are is not where you are going! 8. Achieve optimal results with minimal confusion. 9. Do not pledge allegiance to cliques and groups! 10. Always keep your song near you. As can be seen throughout all ten of these commandments, you are gifted with special and unique abilities to succeed in the workplace where you find yourself; make the most of the opportunities as this chance may never come again. Count Your Blessings!

I have to say this is one of the best books I have read in some time. A Christian co-worker and I are in a spiritual battle where we work and after praying scripture over the place and opening it up to let Jesus in, it is turning around to a better place to work and it is much calmer now. Then, I find this book and now I am turning around and calming down and really letting God be in charge. The "truths" that are written in this book are inspired. I got this book from the library but I will buy it so I can take it to work along with The Word (sword of the Spirit) and take the place over for Christ!

This book has helped me to focus my attention on me instead of the issues at work which are beyond my control. If you're in a job that seems stressful and you need some encouragement, this book is for you. You can choose to be happy at work or you can choose to be miserable. This book clearly let's you see which choice is in your best interest! You can be peaceful at work regardless to your work circumstance if you choose to. This book was worth reading and sharing with other people that I work with.

Bishop T.D. Jakes is really a blessed man of God. The book "Ten Commandfments of Working in a Hostile Environment" really hit home to me personally. Alot of the things which Bishop Jakes wrote about really appealed to me and I will now seek to embrace the positive apects of the job and just be really thankful to God that I have a job. I must first realize that I am annointed for the position that I now hold and realize that once I embrace that concept the blessing will come for the promotion and the other things which the Lord has promised. Too often when we form groups within the company that can be negative for the individual as one is often viewed by the group or the company one keeps. Bishop Jakes's book is excellent; a good read for every working individual. It it should become the workers manual. I have been blessed by just reading it.

Talk about a hostile environment, I was deployed in the desert, so I ordered the book off of Amazon, and it came on just the right day, when everything was going wrong, my boss was trying to find everything I possibly did wrong, and I was homesick and missed my family and friends, my life. This book really put me into perspective of what is important, and reminded me of what I am doing the job I am doing. I didn't want the book to end! It truly helped to get me in the right spirit.

I really don't know how this book has a dozen positive reviews and no realistic ones. I bought this book at the airport, based solely on the title. I assumed it discussed how to handle an unpleasant work environment and not allow the negativity therein to be destructive. The book's idea of a "hostile" work environment turned out to be one that was not deeply Christian. The book makes virtually no sense, reading like a sermon. So far as legitimate advice, I found little, and certainly none that was unique. The useless advice was shocking - the book had might as well be entitled "How To Fail In Business By Preaching Religion To Your Coworkers". I'm going to be a lot more suspicious for a while about book purchases. If the title makes me suspect it's just weak religious material, I'll try to decide this before buying it. I can't imagine the misery of working with someone who thought that this was even an OK book, let alone good.

Words to take to the workplace. I'm able to perform better knowing my assignment from God in the workplace. I think I will purchase the hard back for future reference and encouragement.
