A great transitional story
Shiraz has managed to master transitioning between storylines with ease while overlapping enough to give each of her stories their own unique flair. This might center around Christmas and the chaos that seems to follow Tammy, but it both picks up right where the previous story ended and feeds into the next story while putting things in their proper perspective. It does a great job of also setting up antagonists in the long run while showing who might not be such a bad person despite issues. Shiraz's one weakness is the same thing that makes her stories great: that continuity. None of her stories are able to be read separately, you have to read previous ones to know what's going on. But then again- if you're reading her works, odds are you know her style and accept that it's a sequential series
Great story but sometimes hard to follow
Great story but sometimes hard to follow. Occasional misspellings and grammar problems. Some syntax issues for Americans not used to British English though would be more difficult if the author had used more Scottish forms. Speaking of Scotland; the series celebrates Burns night and hogmanay but no mention at all of St Andrew's Day (Nov 30). The name Frances is the female form of Francis. My great grandmother was from England and her name was "Frances". My uncle and grandfather were "Francis". The number of characters is sometimes overwhelming and difficult to follow.
