Just what IS a "survivalist family"? instead of "survivalist family" we could say "prepared family" or talk about "family preparedness" but that is just so politically correct it makes one sick. Just because the media don't like survivalists and therefore vilify them does not mean we have to change our language. For our purposes, the Survivalist Family is defined as, "A multi-generational group of people living in one house (usually consisting of a father, mother and their offspring) who take positive steps as a cohesive group to prepare for possible future negative situations and circumstances beyond their control." This book will guide you through all that is necessary to be prepared for future uncertainty.

Only useful for the compendium, and a couple recommendations.

I'd be very surprised if there is anyone who bought this book that isn't a fan of the authors youtube channel, and after going through it I'm just going to tell myself that this was a donation to pastor Joe. It feels like the first 2/3rds of the book (which is fairly short) is geared towards parenting and relationsips, getting the spouse and kids on board. The other 3rd is a few sections on gear and philosiphy of use, which is somewhat helpful, but much too breif. There is also a list of recommended starter preps at the end for the check box preppers. Go ahead and get it if you want to support the creator, or but otherwise I'd recommend just checking out his youtube channel Viking Preparedness to get the same info in video format for free.

Finally! Advice which is doable today, and doesn't cost a fortune!

I'm biased for the author because I already like him from his Youtube videos at Viking Preparedness channel, and from his even BETTER posts on Patreon at his Viking Preparedness channel. Joe Fox is a retired Major from Army Special Forces, but he totally doesn't brag about it. He speaks in a humble, straightforward style with a reliance on God, but also an understanding that we need to take action ourselves to prepare for hard times. Joe Fox ridicules the current craze of armchair survivalists spending lots of money on "TechniCool" equipment. He emphasizes that we should purchase a few key items for the lowest price we can find, make the rest of our preps ourselves, and get really expert at using them. He closes every Youtube and Patreon video with the motto "Do the best you can, with what you've got, where you're at today. I'll see ya out there." And that is the practical wisdom you'll find in this book Survivalist Family.

Disaster preparation for common people

I have struggled for a few months trying to get direction for preparing my family and friends for a disaster. Searching websites and reading books was confusing and many were all doom and gloom without the content I was looking for! This book was different. It gave me tools, direction and a plan! It was an easy read, I felt comfortable with the author and after a bit of research actually started following the guy on social media and he gained my trust! His book is no nonsense direction for people looking to prepare for a disaster with little or no experience!

Common sense advise for uncertain times

I purchased Pastor Joe Fox's book to learn more about making preparations for emergencies.it. I wasn't disappointed. An easy read, his book explains how to prepare for emergencies from a faith-based perspective. Highly recommended.

Timely appropriate

Are you prepared for a future Pandemic? He really asked that question in 2010 and here we are in 2020 with a world wide economy crushing pandemic. It’s a good read. I follow Pastor Joe Fox on YouTube and Patreon and enjoy both his style and information. He sets himself apart from the standard prepper writer by being much more nuanced and open minded in his assessment of information. You may find the book lacking some quick solutions to throw money at, but that’s the beauty of Joe Fox, his goals are long term, not short term. Enjoy the read and OOHMP

This is an excellent, clearly written and practical guide for everyone

This is an excellent, clearly written and practical guide for everyone, not just for the Rambos of the world, but for YOU. Written in un-scarry, non-jargony language, Joe Fox steps you through realistic and "do-able" steps that you can take, even on a budget, to get ready for whatever comes next. I love this book and recommend it to anyone concerned about the future.

Experienced guidance to be used and tailored to fit your needs by your practice

Excellent 101 and 201 knowledge which if applied with repeated practice can guide anyone to each person's tailored personal use. Try each of the suggestions and with experience you learn what works best. For each item you think you need, consider what your alternative would be if you did not have that item. Improvise using what you do have and where you are at since you can't always afford to carry two of everything nor can you normally afford it. A lot of experienced guidance within the book with the long term goal of homesteading and living ...dare I say it ... without Starbucks!?

Lots of important information and very to-the-point. It really ...

Lots of important information and very to-the-point. It really sheds light on all the areas of preparedness we need to be aware of in order to avoid being a burden on others, and gives suggestions on what skills will be of high value when the time comes.

A MUST READ FOR ANYONE CONCERNED ABOUT DISASTER READINESS

Americans concerned even about severe natural disasters need to read this book. Prepare youselves for whatever tragic occurance comes along and you will be better off than those who just let things happen hoping that the authorities will come and rescue them. Remember you are your own best first responder.

Great book for anyone that wants to be prepared.

I follow Pastor Joe on patreon at Viking preparedness. He mentioned recently on an interview that he did on the prepping 2.0 podcast that he had written a boook a few years back. So I just had to check it out. I'm glad I did. The book is well written and very informative. There is plenty of information for someone that is just getting started and for someone that has already been prepping for awhile. I'm thinking of picking up a few extra copies for friends.
