Love love love!!

Great stories!! They tie in well to the audio series, but are not so connected that you have to be familiar to enjoy!

not language we feel appropriate for young readers

language not appropriate for young kids. love the show so was shocked by content and verbage

Five Stars

Exactly as described.

I thought it was kind of sad

In my quest to research children's Christian sci-fi stories, I ordered a four-books-in-one Adventures in Odyssey. It appears to have been originally published in the 70's. Have you ever read one of those books that had a good beginning, a slow middle, and a good ending? This isn't one of those. In my opinion, this book was a bit depressing. It opens with ten-year-old Mark Prescott trying to settle into a new town--Odyssey. He and his mom moved because his dad walked out on them. Mark deals with the town bully and meets John Whittaker--the owner of Whit's End ice cream shop and a quirky inventor. I understand that divorce is an issue that kids deal with, but I wonder if it could have been dealt with differently in the book or balanced out with something. I think the adventures in the book are too short. Little resolution is offered for any of the problems presented. Potential subplots are introduced, but the story ends too quickly and I'm not sure I am interested in reading the sequel.

Good Stories with age appropriate life-lessons :)

Good radio program, interesting stories for my 6-8yr old to get into. She sometimes avoids reading and prefers to watch the cartoon version or course, but once she's interested she will read the book too.

Looking forward to the adventure

This is a gift so I hope he likes it.

4-in-1 Book

Bought this for my nephew for Christmas. I also enjoyed Adventures in Odyssey when I was a kid. I didn't realize it was four book in one, but that might make it more convenient than toting around 2 books. Came in great shape and arrived quickly.

Enjoying it!

Like the adventures and the mysteries. The characters are real. Great opportunity to use imagination. Wonderful storylines. Multiple books in one make continued ready easy.

Lessons on friendship, forgiveness, loyalty, and more

These books do more in teaching morals than talking about God. They will mostly entertain and teach valuable life lessons. 1.Strange Journey Back Mark Prescott wishes he didn't have to move from Washington, D.C. to a small little town called Odyssey. But even more he wishes that his dad was still in the family. So when he hears about a time-machine, Mark decides that is the answer. If he could just go back and change it all... This is the first in the Adventure in Odyssey series about Mark. Strange Journey Back teaches lessons about change, friendship and more. 2. High Flyer with a Flat Tire After a fight with the local bully, Mark Prescott is accused of slashing the tire of the boy's new bike. Mark is determined to find out who the culprit really is. He goes out with his friend Patti in a search for clues. But will they go on even when they find out it might mean that another friend is the one? Book 2 in the Adventure in Odyssey series about Mark. High Flyer with a Flat Tire teach life lessons about friendship, loyalty and bullying. 3. The Secret Cave of Robinwood Mark Prescott is having a fun summer with his friend Patti. But when he's offered to join the "Israelite" gang that's known for its good deeds he dives for it. Patti is sure the whole idea will completely wreck their friendship. As Mark yearns for the membership more and more he considers letting the boys in on a secret Patti has told him. But is it worth it? Adventure in Odyssey series book 3. The Secret Cave of Robinwood teaches lessons about keeping promises and forgiving. 4. Behind the Locked Door Since Mark Prescott's mom and dad split up, life has been pretty hard. Now they are trying to get back together but some problems always arise. As his mom flies for another counseling trip, Mark gets to stay with John Whittacker, aka Whit, the amazing inventor in Odyssey. Mark soon learns that there is a mystery behind the locked attic doors of Whit's home. His imagination gone wild from the books he has been reading Mark makes up all kinds of possibilities. But will that imagination ruin their friendship? Adventure in Odyssey series book 4. Behind the Locked Door teaches lessons about setting your minds on good things and not letting your imagination run away.

Four stories of fun, intrigue and friendship...

Mark Prescott is the new kid in Odyssey-and he doesn't want to be there. His parents have split up, and the only one who wants to be his friend is an annoying girl. But not all's bad. There's an amazing ice cream shop called Whit's End, and its owner is a quirky inventor named John Whitaker who seems to create fun and adventure for the whole town. As Mark gets drawn into life in Odyssey, the lessons he learns will change his life. Written by Paul McCusker - a writ er & director of the "Adventures in Odyssey" audio series - Strange Journey Back delivers page-turning excitement with every chapter. Look for the other two exciting anthologies in the series, Danger Lies Ahead and Point of No Return. This OMNIBOOK includes four-books-in-one: Strange Journey Back Mark is sure he can save his parents' marriage - if only he could go back in time. But he discovers some changes are out of his control. High Flyer With a Flat Tire After a fi ght with the local bully, Mark is falsely accused of vandalism and sets out with his friends to solve the crime. The Secret Cave of Robinwood To impress the other kids, Mark betrays a closely guarded secret. Will he lose Patti's friendship as well as the boys' acceptance? Behind the Locked Door Why does Whit warn Mark to stay away from his locked attic? Fueled by thiller comic books, Mark's imagination threatens his relationship with a close friend.

great read

This is a 4 books in 1 set which is a reprint of the original Adventures in Odyssey books that were printed in the early 1990's. For the fans of the radio program and the videos they did, many of the characters found in the books are not in the radio program and videos because the books are set earlier than the others. This set is the first four books which includes Strange Journey Back, High Flyer With a Flat Tire, The Secret Cave of Robinwood, and Behind the Locked Door. In these books, Mark Prescott has just moved to Odyssey after his parents got divorced as that is where his grandmother used to live. He is about to have some unique adventures in Odyssey. But as these adventures unfold, Mark learns lessons about friendship, responsibility and living with change.

Glad to be back in Odyssey

This four books in one compilation has us visiting Odyssey, this time with new kid in town Mark Prescott. He is there because his mom & dad are separated - temporarily, he hopes, but in the meantime he just plain wants to be back at home in Washington DC. He quickly learns there are lots of things to love about Odyssey, Mr. Whittaker, the Imagination Station, a local "gang" that only does good, a new friend-who-is-a-girl Patti (you can be friends with girls, who knew?) and lots of mystery as well as life changing lessons. I really enjoyed this compilation of books about Mark & Odyssey. I especially appreciated the author's choice to not always have things solved quickly and easily. I think this is a great series/book compilation for kids and I can easily recommend it.
