Steve McCurry: The Iconic Photographs

To be perfectly honest, I ordered this book as soon as it was announced, then waited months while it was being made. In that time I developed a thought that it requires some serious nerve for any photographer to publish a book titled "the Iconic Photographs" while still alive. When the book arrived I was somewhat consumed with the idea of how can anyone possible declare his own images to be iconic. Well, I stand corrected, Steve McCurry have delivered a fantastic collection of images, well worthy of the Iconic Photographs label. The book is filled with images reflecting on images rather than religious obsession with technical data, and I am impressed to see Steve have included images where focus or exposure may not be "technically entirely accurate" however the images, the moment and the composition simply are so strong and magnificent that discussing technical data is meaningless. On a related note, the book show images captured with everything from film to high-end 24+megapix cameras, and a historical progression clearly showing the fingerprints of some of the earlier digital slr cameras, but through this Steve McCurry carries the same tone and look. To me this is a iconic book for the reason that it is about images, magnificent images. For a moment forget the price of this book, and simply enjoy the sheer magnificence of a huge book of photography. Each page another outstanding moment captured and printed. I am completely delighted with this book. and yes, Steve you are forgiven for declaring your work iconic. it IS.!

The eye on this man is tremendous, and the skill of the editor in putting together this volume of work is stupendous. WELL worth the money for some of Steve McCurry's gorgeous photographs. The double page spreads in this oversized book... you can pour over every inch forever. I'm delighted with this purchase, let me tell you. If you like McCurry's work, this one is a must have.

Regarding the version I received from Amazon: the cover sheath that the book comes in is black unlike the pink one in the photograph. The book is bound in blue silk (like the product photo). The signed print is well placed inside the front cover of the book. The reproduction is superb and the paper is exceptionally thick. The publisher, Phaidon, could have done a better job in packing the product in a larger shipping box, but mine arrived with no real damage to speak of. It's a marvelous collection of McCurry's career thus far. The prints are so big at times you feel as if you are right behind the camera taking the photo with McCurry. Most photo books don't give you that sensation as the prints are often less than half the size of the ones found here. It's not as big as Helmet Newton's "SUMO" (full size version) or other offerings from Tachen like "GOAT", but in some ways it's better because it's big but not too big. Unlike some other massive photo books, you can sit down in a chair and leaf through it or lay it on a table or even the floor, which ever suits you best. The fact that only 3300 of these books have been made and that it is signed by McCurry make it an obvious collectors item. It's worth it.

This book contains beautiful reproductions of some of the best of McCurry's amazing portfolio. The photos are well chosen, and the print work is top notch. You should be aware that even by photo book standards, this is a HUGE book - 15 inches tall - but all of that space does lend itself to extraordinary detail in the photos. Some of the photos are split across the fold, but the quality of the binding is such that its actually not too distracting. Steve McCurry is deservedly one of the world's most acclaimed photographers and after viewing this book, you'll be in no doubt as to why.

I’m so in love with this book. I used to rotate my coffee table books but I get so many complements on this one and it is visually stunning to look at so it just stay on my table and I open it to a different page every week

Its very well built and very elegant from outside and inside. Is not massive but its a big book with such a beautiful cover. As you can see on the description it does have a large number of photographs yet it doesn't contain All of Mccurry's greats, at least to my opinion. I do have one small complaint, some photographs came with little white dots of what I think is residue of paper, cleaning the pages is not that easy, one needs to be careful not to scratch the photographs since those particules or dots are kinda stuck.

No point trying to talk about the images. Wise decision to just print them without captions or anything else next to them, not even page numbers. There's probably no point either in adding to the chorus of complaints about pictures ruined by splitting them on two pages-- I just can't help it... Some images survive it, most don't. At least have someone with a brain pick them! Suffice to say some of the thumbnails at the end look better than the two-page spread. Still, beautiful photographs. Even if you also have McCurry's Portraits or similar, don't even think about it! It's well worth it. I bet the other photographs wish he never met *that* girl :)

I purchased this as a gift for my bf who is a photographer and huge fan of Steve McCurry's. He absolutely loved it, the book is HUGE, and the photographs are breathtaking. Really great collector's item as it is signed and only a limited number of copies made. I got this for an AMAZING deal since one day it was listed for a quarter of the retail price, brand new... don't know how that happened. Such a great photobook It's worth it even at full price.

wow, what a book, big, bold, amazing images, great printing quality. As amazing as it is it's also depressing because I know I can never come even close to creating such a body of images, I also own McCurry's India book but if I could buy just one of his books I think this would be it.

Check the size before you buy, It is a Huge book and worth every penny. It is everything that you would expect from a photography coffee book. Excellent value. I have been so disappointed with books that have a spectacular photo on the cover but once you buy it, everything else inside doesn't live up to that expectation. Not this one, buy it, You won't regret it.

Great paper quality. Amazing images and its very well curated. Loved the entire flow and its one of my favorite desk books, right next to Ansel Adams 400 photographs. This is the first color photography book that i leave on the top of my desk. Highly recomended.

Amazing photographer, amazing book, some photos are not the best quality though (printing). But definitely I love his job, so it deserves five stars for the photographer and three for the photo printing quality.

Photography wonderful....printing not the greatest.

Just know before you buy it that it is gigantic! It's beautifully printed and a wonderful book to own, some of the most iconic photos (which are some if the most amazing) are printed in two pages making it a nuiciance to look at, but even with this minor flaw the book is still worth every penny.

Great pictures and a well crafted book. The edition listed is the reprint edition; the book is not signed and there is no signed print as referred to in some reviews which are of the first edition. If you are not familiar with Steve McCurry's work, you should be.

Great work by an outstanding Photographer. You can see the passion in his work in the beautiful photos. Just FYI...book is larger that standard size ....which is great.

Steve McCurry work needs no comments. I just recomend that those SM fans hurry to order this book because just 3300 copies were printed. The finish of the book is impeccable and comes inside a protective box. As an extra, there is a printed photo that comes free inside for one that may want to put it on a frame.

Wonderful images of peoples from the east and India I wish that he told us more about his camera settings and what he was thinking about fufilling when he took many of these shots.

I don't think the other reviewers actually emphasized on the size of this book. It is huge. As a coffee table book, it will cover your entire coffee table. Which is not a bad thing when it is filled with McCurry's great photos. Don't plan on reading this in bed or leafing through with it on your lap. Caveat: There are no new photos in this book, just the same old ones found in other tomes, except in a larger format. If you like McCurry's photos, then you will likely find this worthy to have in your collection. The discounted price from Amazon makes this less expensive than some photo books nowhere close to its size and there's an actual original glossy print that comes with each book! How much is that worth? The photos in this book cover the entire page and sometimes, spread over 2 pages. That's my only real gripe, I do not like it when a photo spans 2 pages and have the binding runs through/over the beautiful image. But this is not the first, neither would it be the last, photo book to do that. All in all, I'm glad I got a copy and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes McCurry or for that matter, photography.

as expected

Steve McCurry is an amazing photographer, whom I have long admired. This enormous folio-sized book shows him at his very best. Phaidon is an excellent printer/publisher, and the quality of the printing displays the photographs to their best advantage. Although an expensive purchase, it is an investment in a superb photographer's work.

The photos of people are lovely. What captures my imagination though, are the photos of daily life and places that are structured perfectly while seeming to be in the moment.

This is a beautifully designed and printed book of the best photographs of one of the best photographers in the game. A real bargain considering the size and quality of the book. Also quite a lesson plan for travel photographers to study what makes for an arresting photograph.

My book was exactly as described, however we bought this book meant for our coffee table so truly a center of attention, especially the spine is what shows across the room - I was devastated when it arrived damaged. The inside packing was poor. This book is extremely, extremely heavy it really requires more care in packaging. I hate returning something, it's such a hassle but we really have to have this is new condition. There were also like scrape or line marks across the front.

The images are full of human care .the work of an artist that is very commited. Technically impecable The format allows to appreciate more deeply this magnificent book

There is not much to say that has not been said about Steve McCurry. The photos are obviously amazing but just as nice is the book and binding itself. The quality is above and beyond all others. The book is as much art as the photos inside.

A wonderful book. Its also a big book which makes justice to the beautiful photographs. If you like McCurry Aphgan girl, you will love the book.

Steve McCurry is on my top ten favorite list of great photographers in the world and this tomb is filled with some of his best images, plus it comes with a signed photograph by the author. As I said, hard to beat.

My only criticism is that it is so large and heavy - not the sort of book you can pack in your briefcase to show others

You must buy this book. Totally wonderful. The paper is very good. The book is huge. I can stare at this book for hours.

Mind you, I'm not a huge fan of Steve McCurry. And his iconic Afghan girl is quite overrated. But he is a fantastic photographer and I admire his work. This book contains so many good pictures that I didn't even know he took. Print quality are excellent as well. It's definitely worth the money and worth keeping for your collection

The sheer size, the beautiful photos, and the quality prints exceed my expectation. I guess that it's big -- after all, it weighs 16 lbs but I am not prepared for the impact of the photos viewed close. This book is best viewed on an easel, which would allow you to step back to admire the prints on double pages. Very impressive. The signed and numbered print is first class. And the book is signed and numbered too. Highly recommended. Amazing.

Simply beautiful!

wonderful picture book. Advised for everybody who has been travelling in Asia and loves to have some flashbacks of the highest quality. Its mostly people that are photographed and how colorful they are!

absolutely outstanding. I had the opportunity to watch Steve McCurry working on site in cambodia in 2001 and the quality of his work just reflects his passion for what he does. the book captures timeless moments that instantly send you to a world of amazing human experiences, colors and forms. for the ones that already went to one of these places the book is a time machine. for the ones that never went there it is an invitation to buy an airplane ticket and get there to see what he saw with your own eyes

The book Steve McCurry: The Iconic Photographs: Standard Edition, is great, but it was damaged in the mail. The corner of the book was smashed in.

This is a review of the 'Limited Signed Edition' of 'Steve McCurry: The Iconic Photographs' ...and what an iconic collection it is! From the now-legendary 1984 photo of the green-eyed Afghan girl to lesser-known McCurry photos, this incredible tome encompasses the absolute best work of the famed National Geographic photographer. ...So why didn't I give the 'Limited Signed Edition' 5 stars? Well, a couple of things- first, a good number of the photos are spread over two pages, so you end up with a crease right down the middle of some great pictures-rather the publisher would have confined these photos to one page, or made them fold-outs(Which would have made the book more costly, I'm sure). Second (and this might just bother purists,or collectors of signed first editions like myself),Mr. McCurry hasn't actually signed the book itself-rather, his signature is on an approx. 8x19 1/2 yellow page at the front of the book that also lists the Limited Edition number and information about the enclosed signed print. I would assume that the photographer signed these 'yellow pages' at an earier date, then sent them to the publisher for enclosure in the book when it was bound. (But then I'm not a publisher and not totally sure how these things are done.) This could affect the future value of the book. That being said,the beautiful,enclosed signed print might just prove to be valuable in itself...it certainly is from an artistic point of view! But,hey, don't let my nitpicking stop you...if you're a fan of Steve McCurry's work, you really should check out this book. Overall, it's pretty amazing, and the photos are beautifully presented on high-quality paper...ensuring you'll be able to enjoy this wonderful collection for many years to come.

The print quality is amazing; colors, darks and lights, crispness, it's all perfect. The book is very large and the prints are as well. If you like McCurry's work, I highly recommend this book. I give this book 4 stars for only 1 reason: double page spreads. I feel that doing this really ruins the impact of the photo, and I found myself pretty disheartened when viewing the images laid out like this. You'll find that many landscape oriented photos are actually turned sideways throughout the book so as to only take up one page. I wish the publisher made the choice to do this with all landscape oriented photos, even if that meant leaving a blank white page next to it. If it weren't for this, I'd find some way to give this book 6/5 stars.

Iconic is certainly appropriate.... such an incredible collection of this brilliant photographer's work. The artist's use of color in the compositions of his photographs is done justice in the printing of this collection, which appropriately spans the breadth of his travels and the scope of his documentary projects. Well done Phaidon... this is a treasured addition to my photography book collection, no doubt.

Use of color and light is always a favorite. I received this as a bonus on a job I did recently and am completely inspired! simply beautiful.

I received this book as a gift and man, absolutely blown away with the quality of the prints and size. This is an amazing price for the high grade print and color rendition. Steve McCurry is a legendary photographer. He's certainly one of my favorite and most influential Nat Geo photographers in my personal career. Can't recommend it enough.

What a fantastic book! I pondered long & hard over which McCurry book to get & this one is absolutely beautiful. Yes a few of the photos are over 2 pages & it is a large book but for me this didn't spoil the book at all. A genius at work & his photos speak directly to you.,It makes me want to grab my passport & camera & go back to some of the countries I have visited & take even more photos myself. It is a book I Know I will go back to time & time again & wrap it around me like a comfort blanket. Sensational!

A wonderful presentation of the best photographs of Steve McCurry. The huge format of the book gives the pictures a suitable setting. I would take issue with others who have complained about pictures spread over two pages; I felt that those pictues were well selected and the page break was invariably in a place where it had low impact, while the double page spread helps the larger pictures. If I have any complaint at all, it is that I would have liked a little more text on the pictures and perhaps a more detailed biographical note.My book had the yellow sticker as well, but it came off easily enough with no deposit left behind.

This book of Steve McCurry's iconic photographs is simply one of the most beautiful I have had the pleasure to own. The subject matter covers many of the countries he has travelled too and is of mixed subject matter - some portrait, some figures within the landscape (which in one case particularly really gives it scale) and some landscape. I could neither put it down nor stop looking at it when it first arrived and everyone I have shown it to has felt the same. The colours are amazing but it is for me the pictures of the people set within the reality of their lives which are superb. It takes the person seeing the images to places they might never see and expresses the soul of that place and people vividly and sometimes heartbreakingly. Definitely connects with me on every level. Thank you Steve McCurry and Phaidon for producing the book the way you have. As a photographer myself it has given me a goal to aim for too although I realize it is a long way away right now.

I have always loved Steve McCurry, he was my early inspiration to travel, see the world and photograph as i went along. This collection of photos is gorgeous, no other travel photographer to me compares. His body of work is astounding.

AMAZING BOOK. Great delivery

Great book but my outer cover is spoiled by a large yellow sticker that says “Awarded judges special recognition pictures of the year international best photography book award”. While the pictures are great I think that some of them are spoiled by having them spread across the two pages which kind of breaks them up in the middle.

Even if your not into McCurry you will like this book. He has a really good sense of occasion and how to capture it without ever giving the impression of being intrusive of his subject matter. Some work I'd not seen before too

This is a fantastic book you can return to for inspiration, again and again. The size of the book and the quality of the prints are very good and it is a must have for any serious photographer. The only (slightly) negative remark would be that I sometimes find McCurry's colours to be a bit over saturated. But on the other hand, that's his signature.

master of composition

This book is huge, much larger than I expected, and quality is outstanding. More important, it includes all the best pics of McCurry and for this price it is a steal, highly reccomended.

My only reservations are the presentation of the double spreads which I find distracts from some of the photos and I would have liked the photo titles to be available on the page, rather than in a separate list. Still love the photos though!

Es ist groß ind schwer und in keinem Fall ein Taschenbuch. Sehr wertiges, dickes Papier. Ein sehr hochwertiger Druck. Bis auf das Vorwort völlig frei von Text. Ein ganz ganz toller Bilderband. Ich kann jedem Fan dieses Jahrhundertfotografen das Buch nur ans Herz legen. Es ist jeden Cent wert!

Ho letto alcune recensioni che lamentano il fatto che le foto dei paesaggi sono penalizzate dal fatto di trovarsi in due pagine, e che quindi la parte centrale resti nascosta dalla piega: non vedo come altro dovrebbe comportarsi un libro! è sufficiente allargare bene le pagine, senza fare troppa forza, e la foto è fruibile per intero. Altri utenti poi vedono come un difetto il fatto che le foto non siano corredate da didascalia: è piuttosto un pregio non essere distratti da informazioni che non aggiungerebbero nulla alla foto in sé; le informazioni sulla data dello scatto e alcuni commenti (in inglese) per ogni foto, si trovano in fondo al libro, così se si è interessati si può leggerle in un secondo momento. Buona visione!

Comprato a 39 euro, quindi buon prezzo rispetto al listino, e li vale tutti. Il libro è bellissimo e non credo abbia bisogno di una mia presentazione. La questione da notare è che essendo molto pesante e di qualità, se l'acquirente pretende di averlo perfetto con un invio via corriere normale nonostante tutte le precauzioni non è possibile. Ho rimandato indietro il primo invio perché aveva gli angoli rovinati, okay il secondo perché molto migliore e accettabile ma non era comunque perfetto, un po' si rovina nella spedizione

Lo primero que llama la atención del libro es su tamaño. No es pequeño y pesa lo suyo. El papel es de alto gramaje y al tener un tamaño generoso las fotos tienen un aspecto impresionante. El libro nos muestra un gran número de fotos, 246 que se dice rápido. Muchas de ellas son muy conocidas por ser uno de los fotógrafos de National Geographic, otras yo no las conocía y me han sorprendido muy gratamente. Los retratos con esas miradas inquisitivas, o las vistas de una ciudad derruida, ...., francamente una recopilación impresionante. Algunas de las fotos se muestran a doble página, lo que hace que aparezcan "partidas" por la mitad, perdiendo parte de su encanto, pero aún así continúan siendo increíbles. Para mi gusto tal vez las fotos están algo saturadas de color, aunque algunas de ellas sin esa saturación no transmitirían la misma fuerza. En mi opinión el precio del libro es francamente bueno, el tamaño, la calidad el papel y de la impresión. Si tenemos en cuenta que un libro de lectura, que puede gustar más o menos, tiene un coste parecido, éste lo considero un chollo.

Recomendable. Fabulosas fotografías de uno de los mejores fotógrafos del mundo. Libro de gran formato. Un detalle por un lado fabuloso y por otro engorroso es que las fotografías, para no perder tamaño están ocupando la página en vertical siempre, cosa que no suele hacerse en maquetación habitualmente. Pero en este caso lo apruebo, pese al engorro de girar un libro grande, cada dos por tres. Valiente decisión que apruebo.

I love Steve McCurry's photography and this is an AMAZING table top book of all of his most iconic photos. It is quite large so like I said, you will need a table top to view it!! But it includes short synopsis of each photo in the rear of the book

If you were enamoured with his famous AFGAN GIRL image, then the rest of this picture book will be real eye candy for you. Compositions are wonderful, and his eye for catching scenes with color contrasts are second to none. The pages are quite large which helps you to get lost in each presented image. Enjoy the superb detailing in each scene and feel like the portrait subjects are there in front of you. The only issue is the size of the book. If you keep this book on your coffee table, you probably won't have enough room to put your coffee cups on. ;)

Per chi ama McCurry é ovviamente un "must have", ma avrei nettamente preferito un formato orizzontale, come le altre edizioni phaidon sullo stesso fotografo, a mio parere molto piū adatto.

Das Buch kam heute an und ich bin total enttäuscht. Phantastische Fotos, großartige Druckqualität- aber wie kann man Kunstfotos über Doppelseiten ziehen??? Die interessantesten Details, die ja oft in den Fokus gerückt werden, verschwinden einfach im Knick! Der komplette Bildeindruck wird zerstört! Einige Querformate wurden einseitig gedruckt. Warum hat man das nicht bei allen gemacht? Die ironischsten Fotos sind leider nicht ansehbar!

Ich sammle inzwischen Bücher großer Fotografen - Steve McCurry ist inzwischen ein GANZ GROSSER für mich! Portraits gehören für mich zu den schwierigsten Motiven überhaupt - er meistert dies aber großartig. Besonders gefällt mir, dass die Personen auf seinen Fotos immer eine besondere Würde und auch teilweise Stolz ausstrahlen. Das beste Buch in meiner Sammlung!

Il fotografo che ama il Kodachrome per i suoi lavori, fino a quando è dovuto passare alla fotografia digitale a causa della cessazione della produzione della pellicola, tra l'atro lui ha avuto l'onore di utilizzare e fare sviluppare l'ultimo rullino di pellicola Kodachrome per i suoi lavori. E le suo foto si notano subito per la "corposita" di materia che hanno data dal tipo di pellicola, e per la bravura del fotografo, è sua la famosa foto lato pubblicata dal mensile della National Geographic Society, che naturalmente è pubblicata in questo meraviglioso libro, che a parte l'ingombro e il peso è da sfogliare, soprattutto da chi ama la fotografia

PRO-> qualità della carta, Veramente un libro molto grande Contro> alcune foto stampate sulle due pagine non rendono accessibile la completa visione della foto, ma niente di eccezionalmente grave. Avrei preferito altre immagini ad alcune che ci sono, manca per esempio la foto del bambino che si punta la pistola alla tempia e quella del neonato che affera il fonendo... La scelta di mettere le brevi descrizioni alla fine del volume secondo me è azzeccata, lascia l'intera pagina all'immagine.... In conclusione vale e come i circa 40€, ero indeciso fra questo e "le strorie dietro le fotografie" ma sono felice della mia scelta.

Ottimo libro con uno spaccato importante ed interssante del lavoro di Mc Curry, stampa di qualità e non condivido i post di scrive che le immagini a doppia pagina sono rovinate, certo a pagina intera sarebbero migliori ma sicuramente più piccole anche perchè il formato del libro è già grande di suo, quindi le preferisco così (sicuramente questione di gusto . . . personale). grande libro, non deve mancare nella libreria degli amanti di fotografia.

I've been a huge fan of Steve McCurry's work for years now and I truly believe that books like these are the only way to truly appreciate the work of a master. The Good: + It really is a collection of his best work, the book is dense, with pictures on both pages and it captures a lot more of his work than other books. In essence you get a lot in one book + Print quality, as with all Phaidon books is excellent The Bad & the Ugly: - Several of his best pictures are blown up to span across both faces of the page. While bigger would ordinarily be better, the centre fold running through the image ruins the ability to appreciate many of the pictures. I feel strongly enough about this to dock 2 stars for this. Other books of his like 'South Southeast' don't do this. It's truly a shame. Conclusion: If you're wondering which Steve McCurry book to buy, consider another one. If you're ok with the centre fold breaking images, or you want a book that captures most of his best work, it might be right for you.

Excelente calidad de impresión de imágenes, el tamaño del libro es muy grande, pero te permite apreciar a conciencia el trabajo de éste afamado fotógrafo. Imágenes que te dejan inmóvil.

El tamaño es muy grande, aunque por ello poco manejable. Excelente calidad en la reproducción de las fotografias. Es imprescindible si te gusta el autor. En la parte final aparece una breve reseña sobre cada instantánea. Por ponerle alguna pega, algunas fotografías son reproducidas a doble página, quedando partida a la mitad. También me hubiese gustado que fuesen reproducidas por orden cronológico.

Il fotografo è un must have nel campo del reportage e questo libro, stampato in una qualità davvero alta, ne esalta la bellezza degli scatti. Peccato solo, Come già lamentato anche da altri, la stampa a doppia pagina di alcune foto, ne rovina la visione, nulla di trascendentale, ma fastidioso.

No os hablaré del fotógrafo, porque es fácil localizar información de una de las caras más conocidas de National Geographic, autor de la famosa fotografía de la niña afgana. En cuanto al libro, la edición es estupenda, con reproducciones a gran tamaño y con un color magnífico, algo básico para disfrutar las diapositivas que le hicieron famoso.

Mccurry è una garanzia per chi ama la fotografia, il libro è di dimensioni ragguardevoli a tutto vantaggio delle foto, alcune foto sono a doppia pagina per cui la visione non è ottimale per la rilegatura che spezza l'immagine, ma a qualcosa si deve rinunciare. Unica pecca l'adesivo che l'editore mette sulla sovracopertina: bisogna fare attenzione a staccarlo per non rovinarla, bastava applicarlo sul celophane

è una raccolta di splendide immagini, stampate in maniera eccellente, merita un voto altissimo. Da fotografo appassionato ho provato a immaginare quanto tempo ha dedicato Mc Curry per trovare il momento magico, la luce giusta, la situazione incredibile. Credo che tutti gli appassionati di arte fotografica dovrebbero avere la possibilità di immergersi e perdersi nelle immagini di questo fotolibro.

Mi risulta che Steve Mc Curry utilizzi sia pellicola che digitale. Ora: fermo restando che questo libro non può mancare nella collezione di un appassionato di fotografia e che la bravura dell'autore non si discute, l'anello debole della catena è l'editore. Phaidon è estremamente deludente nella qualità grafica.

Le foto sono splendide e si lasciano apprezzare per il formato grande (A3) del libro. E' bello guardarle e poi chiudere gli occhi continuando ad immaginare le persone, i posti e i colori. Peccato per le foto stampate su due pagine. Per i miei gusti ci sono un po' troppi ritratti. L'ho regalato a Natale ed e' piaciuto. Da avere! Consegna veloce.

Libro molto bello, elevata qualità di stampa delle fotografie. Purtroppo lo ho ricevuto con un angolo inferiore rovinato, probabilmente dovuto ad un taglio piuttosto datato (il danno era palesemente vecchio). Ho dovuto a malincuore fare il reso. Ho letto che diverse persone hanno ricevuto un prodotto con un danno analogo al mio, penso che Amazon spedisca ripetutamente lo stesso prodotto rovinato. Ahimè non è una buona mossa commerciale, non acquisterò più libri di questo genere da Amazon, meglio le fidate librerie.

libro fotografico stupendo del grandissimo Mc Curry,qualità eccelsa,colori unici,da acquistare subito. quello che per alcuni sarebbe un difetto(è scritto in inglese),in realtà,per chi come me non ama particolarmente tutte quelle stucchevoli e pompose introduzioni,si è rivelato un vantaggio.

Qusto libro dalla grandezza esorbitante racchiude la bellezza di 250 e più fotografie storiche del noto fotografo. La qualità di stampa e di rilegatura sono eccellenti, le immagini stupende. Chi segue Steve da fan non può non avere questo libro. Alla fine del tur fotografico avrete una spiegazione delle foto e in che anno sono state scattate.... Lingua Inglese.

Was für ein großartiger Bildband, den Steve McCurry dort wieder hervorgebracht hat. Auch nach fast einem Jahr nehme ich ihn immer wieder gerne in die Hand und tauche ein in diese tollen, fremden Welten.

Dies war ein Geschenk für eine Freundin in den 50zigern, die beruflich als Fotografin arbeitet. Sie war begeistert. Der Druck ist toll, leider sind jedoch die Hintergrundgeschichten der einzelnen Bilder erst hinten im Buch aufgeführt, praktischer wäre unmittelbar bei den Bildern, sonst muss man andauernd in dem schweren Buch blättern. Der Versand war schnell.

Ho regalato questo libro ad una mia amica, siamo rimaste entrambe molto soddisfatte perché, sfogliandolo più e più volte, si riesce sempre a carpire qualche dettaglio in più, qualche emozione in più dalle foto di questo straordinario artista. McCurry attraverso la fotografia cerca di trasmetterci i sentimenti, le condizioni e la storia di chi è stato fotografato, come se insieme a lui avessimo viaggiato anche noi. La caratteristica che mi ha colpita maggiormente è stata gli sguardi delle persone che hanno quasi il potere di catturarti e di portarti nel loro mondo.

Se trata de un fotógrafo fuera de serie , el libro es de gran formato y gran calidad, por lo que se pueden apreciar muy bien las excelentes fotografías. Totalmente recomendable.

Si te gusta Steve McCurry y quieres tener en buen formato algunas de sus mejores fotografías es una compra recomendada. Como PRO la calidad de la reproducción de las fotografías, como CONTRA que algunas fotografías están a doble pagina y se rompe la composición.

Il libro raccoglie le più belle fotografie di Steve McCurry. Le grandi dimensioni del volume fanno apprezzare la bellezza degli scatti e la qualità della stampa. Credo che il prezzo contenuto sia un ulteriore incentivo all'acquisto. E' sicuramente da avere nella propria biblioteca fa amante della fotografia e dell'arte in generale.

Guardare questo libro è inspirare, ispirarsi, aria che entra nei polmoni e illumina. Enorme, infinito, si scoprono nuove foto ogni giorno. Vero che è caro ma vale molto molto di più. Sta nel mio soggiorno e tutti gli abitanti della casa ogni tanto lo aprono e ci si perdono dentro. Commossa.

Per chi ama questo fotografo questo libro è assolutamente immancabile. Il suo libro più bello per quantità e qualità delle immagini. Tutte le edizioni Phandom sono impeccabili ma questa è veramente superba. Da non perdere.

Tra le varie proposte di libri fotografici dedicati a Steve McCurry ho scelto questa e non me ne sono pentito. L'edizione è sontuosa, la grande dimensione delle pagine e la bella stampa consentono di apprezzare in tutto il loro splendore la selezione di superbe immagini realizzate dal grande fotografo negli ultimi 30 anni. Lo consiglierei a tutti coloro che vogliono avere un libro rappresentativo dell'opera di Steve McCurry, un fotografo ormai riconosciuto unanimemente tra i più grandi di sempre.

Difficile aggiungere altro a recensioni già espresse dagli appassionati e non della fotografia e di uno dei maestri di quest'arte, da avere nella propria libreria !

Für mich ist es das beste Fotoalbum, das ich bisher in den Händen hatte. Was für ein geniales Auge hat Steve McCurry.... wie kommt er auf die Ideen für seine Motive. Ich frage mich, wie man solche Farben auf's Fotopapier bekommt. Das Titelbild ist schon ein geniales Beispiel für Steve's Fotokunst. In Zeiten wo täglich Milliarden Fotos geschossen werden, sind diese Foto's der Maßstab.

Che dire....quando ho aperto il pacco, che tra l'altro è stato confezionato benissimo in modo da non rovinare minimamente l'articolo, è stata una emozione fortissima!!! Io ammiro i lavori del Maestro Steve McCurry da molto tempo e mi dispiace non poter andare a vedere la mostra a Siena in questo periodo. Devo dire che però con questa opera mi sono veramente rifatta gli occhi visto le dimensioni delle foto !!! Lo regalerò a mio marito per Natale. Complimenti ad Amazon per il prezzo veramente conveniente, la puntualità nella consegna rispettata perfettamente e, come ho già detto per l'attento imballaggio. Spero di fare presto altri acquisti con Amazon!

Le foto presenti nel libro si possono trovare anche online. Quello che fa la differenza sono le DIMENSIONI. Questo è un libro enorme! Bellissimo, grandissimo... quasi come partecipare ad una (piccola) esibizione fotografica. Soldi ben spesi.

Absolument superbe ouvrage. Il assemble les principales photographies iconiques de Steve McCurry et elles sont nombreuses! Les reproductions sont de belle qualité. Les pages sont très grandes permettant de se plonger des les images et de faire le tour du monde avec le photographe. Il est seulement dommage comme certain l'ont remarqué que certaines photographies soient sur les deux pages, ont voit mal ce qu'il y a au milieu et cela change la perspective.

Nulla da dire sul libro, ottimo come tutti quelli di McCurry. Perfetta anche la spedizione, con libro ben protetto ed ancora con la pellicola originale.

Sono stato a vedere la mostra di Steve McCurry a Genova, ed in effetti questo libro riprende i migliori scatti del reporter documentarista. Sia nei ritratti, sia nei posti in cui è stato, ha saputo cogliere la luce giusta con il momento giusto per eseguire lo scatto.

Steve McCurry è senza dubbio uno dei più grandi fotografi contemporanei (per me è il numero uno, ma questo è un giudizio pesonale) per come sa raccontare attraverso la sua arte le storie del nostro tempo. Il libro è di altissima qualità, da non perdere per tutti gli appassionati di fotografia.

Book completely damaged what’s a bad service

Regalo di Natale che ha riscosso grande successo. Foto di impagabile bellezza. Ero tentata di tenerlo per me...Steve McCurry è il mio mito, davanti ad ogni sua foto mi commuovo ogni volta.

E' quello che si ha, quando si prende in mano un volume dalle dimensioni piu' che generose e poi una volta aperta sulla stampa eccelsa dei capolavori di McCurry. Ed e' cosi' che un libro dedicato di fotografia deve essere.

Considero a Steve McCurry uno de mis referentes en cuanto a fotografía documental se refiere. Además del valor intrínseco de las historias que nos muestra en sus fotografías, hay que añadir una calidad puramente visual modélica.Este libro es una oportunidad única para disfrutar de sus imágenes más emblemáticas a gran tamaño y con una gran calidad de impresión. Los recomiendo para todo aquel que quiera disfrutar y aprender al mismo tiempo.

ogni pagina è una storia scritta negli occhi del soggetto fotografato ogni foto è un viaggio che ci congiunge con territori ed etnie lontane attraverso lo sguardo illuminato di McCurry con una tecnica che lascia a bocca aperta, il libro ha un formato considerevole, ottima rilegatura e stampe eccellenti veramente ben fatto

Livro obrigatório na biblioteca de fotógrafos amantes de natureza e de lugares exóticos! Mccurry com seus portraits é imbatível, além de ser um excelente calmante naqueles momentos de relaxamento.

La prima cosa che salta alla vista è la dimensione del libro: in pratica un A3 in verticale! Molte foto sono stampate su entrambe le pagine, dunque in A2. Foto bellissime!

Neben Saul Leiter hat Steve McCurry sicher das beste Auge um einmalige Situationen zu sehen und per Fotografie festzuhalten. Dabei funktionieren die Fotos eben gerade durch die Farbe und sind für mich, im Gegensatz zu z.B. Salgados Bildern, eigentlich nur in Fabe vorstellbar. Das Buch ist für alle, die wunderschöne Bilder mögen, ein Muß.

Para quem gosta de fotografia de paisagem e retratos em cores não vai se arrepender, o conteúdo do livro é sensacional. Recomendo!

Bellissimo, imperdibile per gli amanti della fotografia, splendida edizione. L'unica nota negativa è che il formato brossurato non si adatta bene alla stampa di foto a doppia pagina, inevitabilmente si perde la parte al centro. A parte questo è un libro di cui non ci si pente.

Ein toller Bildband für alle, die Asien lieben und an Fernweh leiden. Wie in "Looking East" kommen in dem Format die Fotos am besten zur Geltung. Für alle die erstmal schauen wollen, lohnt sich McCurrys Website, auf der sehr viele Bilder zu sehen sind. Die besten findet man in diesem Bildband.

La magia che Mc Curry riesce ad infondere alle sue foto, scattate in normalissimi momenti della giornata, seppure in posti esotici, trasforma la realtà di un istante in un cristallo di tempo carico di emozioni. Questo libro è come un viaggio quasi iniziatico ricco di spiritualità autentica che è propria della vita nei suoni momenti più comuni.
