A brave new world for SL annuals
Just picked it up from Amazon, and have taken a quick look. Things I noticed immediately: 1) No book jacket. Was used to seeing a slipcover on a brand new book... 2) A thinner book. I think it's because the book is printed on slick glossy paper, thinner than the matte-finish pages of the past. 3) ALL THE INSIDE PICTURES - ALL OF THEM - ARE IN COLOR!! Which look perfect on the gloss paper! It's beautiful and immediately brings your appetite front and center! Summary: Slipcover or not, the book looks wonderful. (And I assume the recipes are wonderful as well.)
Worst index ever
Owning every SL Annual Recipe book, this one is a disappointment. The index is shortchanged and nearly useless. If you want a tenderloin recipe it is not under meat, beef or steak as those categories (along with other standards) do not exist... you need to look under “H”. Yes “H” since it is under Herb Crusted tenderloin. Each and every recipe is under its exact title.
It's About Time
I've been buying these Southern Living Annual Recipes volumes since their inception - 1978. The past few years, I've been sorely disappointed, as the pages were extremely thin and there were hardly any colour photographs. To my pleasant surprise, this year the pages are substantial and glossy, and the book is filled with delightful colour! Bravo!!!!
Always great recipes
Southern Living magazine has really gone down hill but the recipes are still good. Last couple of years the annual book does not come with a dust jacket.
Possibly used??
Two stars, bc the content itself is fantastic! However, I got my copy with gunk stains all over the cover (I sanitized and cleaned it without thinking to take a picture). Then when I opened the book, I noticed the pages were warped and seemed to have had water damage of some sort? Hate to leave a bad review, but this is definitely questionable about whether or not it’s actually a “new” book.
Color my world
So very happy that this year 2020 the publication decided to use color photos for the recipes. Several years back it was in black and white. Very happy with this purchase.
Worth It!
Better than expected! This year’s edition includes unique recipes alongside profiles of Southern chefs. If you read cookbooks like novels (as I do) you’ll find this a very interesting read.
LOVE this book - I buy it every year!
This book is so awesome! All year long I see recipes from Southern Living that I’d love to try and to remember. Each year they come out with this compilation and I buy one for me and one for my son who likes to bake. Will keep up the collection for as long as they make them.
Love this book!
I have been purchasing the Southern Living annual recipes books for years but haven't been happy about most of it being in black and white. I received this book and was so excited to see that it is in color, like the magazines. I hope this will continue with future volumes as it makes looking at the book and finding recipes so much more enjoyable.
Cooking Good Food
Have all of these wonderful cookbooks. This one is just as great as the other years. Great things to cook for your family.

Glad color photos are back!
Was glad to see color photos back! Was disappointed that the December white cake on cover is not the same as what was on the magazine. Recipe was not correct either. Otherwise I'm pleased with the purchase.

I have everyone they have published. Started receiving from my husband when they published the first one.
Good cook book
Order this book as a gift for my cousin from my aunt. She loved it, her mom has been buying these book for her since 1983 and she still has all of them.
Best Thing Ever
I collect these books every year and give them as gifts. Greatest Cookbook ever.
Great recipes each year
Pretty good shape, but one corner was bent as if it had been dropped. After several years of use they begin to wear a little anyway. Love the cookbooks and have been getting them from my mom each Xmas since 1981, until she passed last year and I had to buy one for myself. Love it.
