Funny and deeply personal, Sorry Not Sorry recounts Glee star Naya Rivera's successes and missteps, urging young women to pursue their dreams and to refuse to let past mistakes define them.

Navigating through youth and young adulthood isn't easy, and in Sorry Not Sorry, Naya Rivera shows us that we're not alone in the highs, lows, and in-betweens. Whether it's with love and dating, career and ambition, friends, or gossip, Naya inspires us to follow our own destiny and step over--or plod through--all the crap along the way. After her rise and fall from early childhood stardom, barely eking her way through high school, a brief stint as a Hooters waitress, going through thick and thin with her mom/manager, and resurrecting her acting career as Santana Lopez on Glee, Naya emerged from these experiences with some key life lessons:

Sorry:
-  All those times I scrawled "I HATE MY MOM" in my journal. So many moms and teenage daughters don't get along--we just have to realize it's nothing personal on either side.
-  At-home highlights and DIY hair extensions. Some things are best left to the experts, and hair dye is one of them.
-  Falling in love with the idea of a person, instead of the actual person.

Not Sorry:
-  That I don't always get along with everyone. Having people not like you is a risk you have to take to be real, and I'll take that over being fake any day.
-  Laughing at the gossip instead of getting upset by it.
-  Getting my financial disasters out of the way early--before I was married or had a family--so that the only credit score that I wrecked was my own.

Even with a successful career and a family that she loves more than anything else, Naya says, "There's still a thirteen-year-old girl inside of me making detailed lists of how I can improve, who's never sure of my own self-worth." Sorry Not Sorry is for that thirteen-year-old in all of us.

RIP Naya.

Although I’ve never met Naya Rivera her death is hitting me very hard. I just feel that she was taken too early and she had a lot left to do. It’s sad and scary and part of me still thinks it’s not real. I feel for her son, her ex husband, her parents and siblings. I think it’s very courageous of her to use her last breath and bit of strength to make sure her son was ok. Part of me regrets reading this book because theyre are so many references to a long life filled with more children and grandchildren. Its so sad that she will never get to live that life. Reading this book did make me feel closer to her and its very funny and real. Just be aware that you’ll feel some kind of way while reading it considering that she is no longer with us😢

Lovely ❤

I adored reading from her perspective and now finishing when this dramatic, horrific ending happens for her....im just terrified and horrified for her foremost and her family. I adore her, she's BEYOND gorgeous and so incredibly talented and the whit and charm she exudes is wonderful. I cry thinking of what she went thru and now what her family lives with. It's just a nightmare. Much much love to her family.

Good read - her death breaks my heart

Good read. I could not put it down. Her death is sad and breaks my heart and I wanted to know more about her. To read her life story (ups and downs) coupled with her tragic death is heart wrenching. We should all follow our dreams and Naya did that. She kept pressing forward no matter the hurdles she faced as her mom encouraged her when she wanted to throw it all in. We all must LIVE each moment as if it was our last as we never know. Prayers to Naya’s family and son. I too was a small child (5) when my mom tragically died. My mom also saved me (would not let me go on our daily bike ride this specific day). God had a plan. It still breaks my heart 45 years later that my mom tragically died. Naya also saved her son. Continue to nurture, hug, and cover her son;Josey, with the undying love she had for him. Thinking of Naya. Praying for the family.

This book is real!

I found a lot of myself within a lot of moments in this book. Naya Rivera opens herself in a raw way that gains major respect and admiration. She digs deep allowing you into her beautiful and crazy life of being human. This was definitely a page turner with the witty one-liners and great story telling. Her life has so many layers for anyone to relate to. Not only could you see Rivera grow as a human right before your eyes (through her eyes) but this book also gives you the chance to reflect on your own life. This book was written with a lot of love and gratitude which you feel for yourself in the end.

Insightful and fun

I read the whole thing in one sitting. Not at all what I was expecting, but 100% worth it. Ms. Rivera comes across as intelligent, funny, frank, and quite authentic. There's some pretty good gossip (engagement to Big Sean, fights with Lea Michele/Ryan Murphy, etc.) that you can probably snatch from reviews on the typical celebrity websites, but in my opinion you'd be missing out by not reading this thing in its entirety. As someone to whom Glee is very near and dear to my heart, I was of course the most interested in the parts of the book that dealt with that period in her life. And, although she doesn't linger on it nearly as long as I thought she would, there is still plenty here to read. Lots of fun anecdotes, reflections, and a quite sobering/touching passage about the death of Corey Monteith. The parts that weren't about Glee, though, were equally as good: for starters, there's lots of boy drama. She talks openly about issues such as abortion, anorexia, being a minority, and a girl's right to be a whore (yes, you read that right. It's awesome.) I was particularly surprised by her openness about her Christian beliefs; she brings up her relationship with God quite frequently throughout. Not in a preachy way at all. In fact, even though I'm not religious I think it would have been a shame if she hadn't included it. It's clearly a major part of who she is. In summary, the book does an effective job of stripping down the star that you've read about in the tabloids and instead painting a portrait of a living, breathing woman who has experienced joys and sorrows just like anyone else. Why, then, should you read it? For me, it's because whether I like it or not, Naya Rivera became a part of my life when I started watching Glee in 2009: her work, her voice, and her talent have entertained me for countless hours in the last seven years. She was one half of Brittana, which changed countless young queer women's lives forever and opened doors for more (hopefully not-accidental this time) LGBT representation on television. I don't know her at all and I never will, but I care about her, god damn it. If any part of what I said speaks to you, then you should definitely buy this book.

Amazing Read of Life Reflections

“Even in my worst moments, I had to trust that God had a plan for me. I might make mistakes, but He doesn’t.” I have not watched one episode of Glee at all. The years that it aired on TV was my early 20’s where I was all over the place and not stable/able enough to sit down and watch anything. Will I watch it now? Yes, especially after reading her book. Especially after listening to her truth and how she explains her authentic faith in God! I enjoyed reading about her early years of being thrust into the entertainment business at only a few months old, to wincing at her pain when she had to return to a regular life in grade school, to giving up ever acting again, to being open and honest about those few years after high school before the fame as she dodged the sketchy Southern California streets. To getting her life together, fixing up her credit, completing a film course in NYC all by herself away from home and giving acting one more try after her mind was set against it...which led to her big breakthrough. She speaks with genuine love, care and honest reflection on every person/situation she’s ever encountered. To hear her speak on racial issues in 2016 gives you an eerie chill, because of what’s happening in 2020. I love how she dispelled all the rumors and exposed the truth behind the tabloid features regarding her. When you actually hear her side, you are happy for her and admire that she didn’t need to defend herself back then. I’m glad I read her book. I pray for God to always be with her family!

Interesting not overly gossip-y

Purchased before the sad news of her untimely death. Very upsetting to hear that. I like that Naya is honest about some extremely uncomfortable and controversial issues that she has experienced in her life. I also like that she makes it clear she did not hate Lea Michele, and the book is not overly filled with gossip about her time on Glee. What I don't understand is what the heck happened in her marriage. In this book, she seems thoroughly convinced that her husband is the love of her life, and they'd be together forever. Yes, I know she had been arrested for domestic battery, but those charges had been dropped and she had reconciled with her husband. Yet, less than two years after this book, they were divorced. I feel like we will never get the whole story there, but at the time this book was written she seemed very mature and certain that the marriage would last for good. I think what made me sad while reading this was that several times, Naya wrote that it was important to live in the moment and that tomorrow was never guaranteed. Obviously that is something many, many people say, but reading the words in light of recent events, her words seem prophetic.

Not a tell-all, but reassuring at times and very Naya

Like a lot of people, I assumed this book might have been a tell-all, or at least focused a little bit more around Glee. Instead, this book goes back and forth between Naya's struggles after she was a child actor and how she wasn't being casted in anything, financial troubles (some can be relatable like when her credit was garbage, her car was repossessed, though not all her financial troubles are relatable for someone that didn't make a lot of money at one point), having to work a few jobs that she absolutely hated so she could pay off her debt and eat/have a roof over her head, losing a loved one, and boys/men. The part that stuck out the most to me were when Naya talked about how everyone should be a slut at one point in her life. She wasn't actively telling readers to go out and have sex, but was reassuring them that it's alright to just have a lot of sex at one point in your life, just so you can get it out of your system and learn about yourself and what you like during the process. Not many people are willing to talk so openly about that, so it's refreshing to read about sex in a positive light. Also where she talks about her breast implants being for herself as a confidence booster and how it was one of the best decisions she's ever made. I loved how Naya talked about how much she loved Dianna and Cory and gave examples of good times she had with them (when she and Dianna went away to Paris, and when her and Cory shared a friendly kiss when they tried to figure out why they never dated each other). I was a little surprised she didn't mention her friendship with Heather very much, except for saying how she's one of her closest friends and that she did not stick her tongue down her throat during the wedding episode (even explained how to make it seem like they had). Then how she slammed the truth that gossip articles got wrong (like how her and Lea didn't hate each other, but they didn't get along the best, or how she didn't key Mark's car but threw sludge on it--she really regretted dating him, especially after he was charged with possession of child pornography). She also talked about how her engagement to Big Sean was just too fast and he didn't help her with planning it at all and she was fed up with him not caring in the end, especially when Ariana Grande started to hang out with him while they were still together. Then there were parts that she talked about when she dated her husband and how he was the best guy she ever dated and that she was scared/dumb and dumped him because she didn't know what to do with someone so great. I honestly finished this book in about a day and I don't regret purchasing it.

Honestly more than i expected

It’s probably a 4.5 at best. However her honesty and raw truth bumps it up. I see a lot of reviews upset with how she doesn’t “truly” act sorry for her sorry list. However i find it humbling she could tell her truth and own up to her part in every situation. You have to acknowledge the bad to know where you’ve come from and in order to see your growth. I’m guessing those who don’t like her honesty were hoping for more inside to gossip or won’t admit to their own wrong doings. Naya owns her past and shares what keeps her going. God. And for me it hit home. I wish i would have read it while she was still alive. May her family find peace.

Surprisingly Delightful

Wasn't sure what to expect- Naya jumps around a bit here and there with her tales, but still a great read. Glee fans will delight in some stories from the show, but she does a good job of not letting that be the focus of her book, and is interesting enough that I doubt even the biggest Glee fans will care. She genuinely has some interesting stories to tell, touching on a variety of topics people can relate to. My only disappointment was how expensive the book was, considering it's a rather short read! Wish there had been more!

Amazing and genuine just like Naya!

This book was hard to put down! I finished it within a couple of days. It was so amazing that I didn’t want it to end. I wish I could have read it before Naya passed. I learned so much about her character and even learned things about myself as well thru relating to her experiences. I’m so glad she got to express her truth before it was too late. Please read!

Really great

This was a great overlook on Naya’s powerful and inspiring life and upcoming. It had a lot of inspiring notes in it to make you reevaluate your life and mission. It was really comforting to be able to read Naya’s words even though she’s no longer here to share them.

Naya - thanks for share who you are

I am saddened by her sudden death, especially for being a mom with a small child, I never saw Glee, but as a result of this I saw some videos of her character and I was surprised at how talented she was, and in one of those videos I saw that she wrote a book . I bought it and read it. I entertained myself, it is not the typical book I read, but it is the legacy of a brave girl who fought for her dreams and who deserves as a tribute to her life to be read by many. Thanks Naya ..

I enjoyed this book for the most part

I enjoyed this book for the most part. It's well written and funny, and seemingly honest enough that I'm not even really sure Naya realizes how much she reveals about what a mess she can be. I think it could have done without the chapters which basically just rehashed old feuds that have long since passed, but again...Naya is a bit of a mess and I can't even say I might not have done the same in her shoes. The Glee years are a surprisingly small portion of this book, and it really was fascinating to hear her describe her younger years. This is a good read even if you're not a particular fan (well, except the "rehashing the feuds" chapters), but of course you'll probably get more out of it if you are.

Overview;no details

Not as good as I hoped. Eh-knowing what I know now I wouldn't have bought it. She's does write about a bunch of different points in her life but none go too in depth. I would like to read her book 10 years from now versus an overview of the past couple of decades (when hopefully it had more details). Yes of course everyone always buys celebrity books for the gossip details!! I will say that this book left a great impression of her best friend: thats who the book should have been dedicated too.

Bravo to you Naya

I always thought that Naya was underrated when it comes to acting and singing she was one of them people who blew my mind with their craft of acting I always wanted see her more and shows or films after glee cause she was that good!!! Sadly the only last thing she left her mark was in step up and man her death has been bothering me for a minute I still don’t believe she’s not here enjoying life the book is beautiful and makes you see other prospects of life condolence goes out to the family hope one day find peace in this dark tunnel

Sorry, not feeling you.

Naya certainly has an interesting story to tell, and a great team of editors and publishers helping her to tell it. I found her voice here to be quite desperate. She was saying "Like me! Please like me! Not that I care if you do, but I want you to... So that i can validate my personal errors in judgement as human nature." She's not wrong, she's not right. She isn't sorry.

Naya Rivera Legacy 🥺❤️ Her Book couldn’t be more Amazing.

I have always been a fan of Naya Rivera since I was a little girl and she was on glee. Glee was apart of my life and Santana Lopez was My Favoriteeee Character. Naya Brought so much life to Santana and made her one of the Most Iconic LGBTQ characters to ever be on prime Television. 2020 was a total disaster and when Naya Passed away I was heartbroken 💔 so I started watching a bunch of her interviews , videos , look at photos of her , and I brought her Book & Audiobook. This Book couldn’t be more Amazing. You really get to take a real look into Naya’s life as a child actress , teenager/young adult finding her way, Marriage & Motherhood , her glee glory days and so much more ! This Book is one of the most amazing Autobiographies I have ever read and I’m grateful that we have this book to always remember Naya legacy. #RipNayaRivera💔 #WeloveyouNay💕

Good easy read, learned more about her life before Glee

Good read. I wish she told us more about her marriage, motherhood and her time on Glee with the touring, show and balancing her personal life. I’ve read this after ages passed and I’m sorry that her life was cut so short.

Never gets boring! I loved it!

I already loved her because of being Santana on Glee. But I didn't expect Naya can be a fun, witty and amazing writer. Thank you for sharing your life with us!

Sorry Not Sorry: a real book about a real person

This book is very real. If you are looking for a tell all book about Glee then look somewhere else. Although she does touch on Glee and the importance it had in her life, the book doesn't revolve around the show. Also if you are looking for a book full of trash talk, move along. She is quite respectful, if not blunt (which if you know anything about Naya is usual) about the different people in her and how they affected her. I personally loved this book and read it in one day. Naya presents herself as a normal human being who has made some amazing decisions in life and some really crappy decisions. She discusses what she has learned and how she has moved on. She never presents herself as the perfect human being, which I personally think is amazing. She does discuss some extremely personal and controversial issues in her book, but she also discusses the pain that accompanies those issues and for that I respect her even more so. Now for my grammar nazi's out there. Let's talk real quick. Naya writes exactly as she speaks. That means that if you are looking at her book from a grammatical point of view her sentences can be a little choppy. That being said her sentence format does not distract from the content contained within. Read for content and not grammar, and you shall be just fine. I gave this a five star rating because I personally think the book deserves it. I am not a die hard Glee fan, but I did enjoy her character of Santana. From the interviews that I have watched she seemed like a very professional person, but I felt that the articles and videos revolving her book were misleading and I was correct. Naya is professional, and a control freak, but she is not cold, mean or spiteful. She truly has a big heart. Read the book and see the person that Naya truly is and not what the media present her to be. Great read.

Great

This book had a different meaning now that Naya Rivera has passed away. This book brought a lot of comfort to me. I'm glad I read it.

Awesome

I actually purchased this on accident initially, but I am so glad I did. I loved the show Glee and Naya's character on the show. I didn't really know what to expect with this book but Naya tells the story of her life and keeps it real. I love the premise of the "sorry, not sorry" concept and it makes me want to analyze my life the same way. I would definitely recommend this book to others. Kudos to you Naya for having the guts to write this book.

Amazing!

Great book with lots of laughs! RIP Naya, you protected your son and are a true hero! Sad to see you go so young

Loved it!

Not only was her story an interesting one, but the way she put things into an understandable perspective for more than just her experiences was spectacular.

Was so surprised

Was so surprised by how this was written. Several memorable moments. Really enjoyable.

Naya Rivera is Everything

I’m a HUGE Naya fan but this book is definitely worth the buy. You’re getting many details of her life and how she became successful. RIP Naya 💔 You will never be forgotten

Great book!

I love Naya Reviera and her book is a light read. If you're a Glee fan, this is a must read. She doesn't just talk about Glee though. She talks about her family and her ups & downs.

I miss her so much

This book was amazing. I saw a lot of myself in it. And I’m sad that she will never get to read this review. Naya, you lived a wonderful life full of everything that normal people go through. I am so happy that I at least have this to remember you by. Rest in Paradise.

Glee fan that read this in a few hours.

Not a tell all book. It was more like a autobiography mixed with a little bit of self help. Even if you aren't a Glee fan I think most people will like it. The saddest part is Cory's death.

Interesting story

I got the Kindle version. It was on my Kindle right away. An interesting, but sad story by Naya

Awesome Read!!

I really enjoyed the book and it only took two days to read it. That lets you know how good the book is. You can relate to some of the things she went through personally in life. I may not have known her personally and her passing may have hit hard, but she was a talented human being and a wonderful mother. She was one of my favorite characters on the show Glee, along with Amber Riley and Heather Morris.

Great book!

Wonderful book! So sorry to read after she passed, she had so many plans!

Great read a little short for $12

Great read. Nayas books is open and honest. I read it in one sitting. I only wish it were longer and a little more detailed. I felt like she just touched on many subjects that I would have loved to read more about. Maybe she will write a sequel!

Very enjoyable.

It’s a great book about her life. I learned lessons from her experiences. Very good book. You will enjoy it too

More raunchy and informal than expected...

Although this had good parts, and I read the whole thing, it sometimes seemed like she was trying too hard to be raunchy or modern.

This is a really easy read, if you're looking for a magnificent memoir ...

This is a really easy read, if you're looking for a magnificent memoir of a starlet do not spend your money, but if you are looking for a book written by someone who is real, telling her story, and can relate to people who are not famous, this is for you!

Not a very good read for me

I got bored reading the book halfway through she should really stick to acting

Great book.

I love this book. I would read it multiple times.

Would recommend!

I ordered this book after Naya’s untimely death. I was really impressed by the whole book. It was an easy read and very enjoyable. Naya is smart and I laughed many times while reading. You get a clear picture of her life and how she became successful. Would definitely recommend if your a fan of hers. R.I.P Naya.

Came without the cover, it’s a blank book

Came entirely without a cover? Not that it hinders the content, however I bought this book in memoriam for Naya, and it’s very disappointing that it came like this.

I hate reading and this didn't even feel like a chore

I hate reading and this didn't even feel like a chore. I was hooked. It's so conversational it makes it easy to keep reading. I actually somehow managed to read the entire thing in just one day and was super sad that I'd done that by time I finished bc I was hoping for more! It's a very attractive book, comes bubble wrapped.

Personal and Inspiring

Recommended to all women who aspire to achieve their dreams with an open and honest heart, fierce attitude and strength.

Great Book!

Hilarious! This book is so real and funny! It came a little beat up, but overall a great purchase!

Love

Love this book it’s amazing you must read it.

My favorite types of books are autobiographies

My favorite types of books are autobiographies, I love how honest she is with us. I got a lot advice from which I didn't think I would get! She's very real, straight up and funny! I do recommend it, it's a fun read and if you're a glee fan you'll love the behind the scenes moments she mentions. I look forward to her next book!

One of the books she really wated and she loved it.

Gift for my wife. One of the books she really wated and she loved it.

Great read

Easy read, couldn’t put it down

Four Stars

I really enjoyed this book a lot more than I expected to.

Naya is real

This book is easy to read, fun and has some great lessons you never thought you'd learn. Loved it! Highly recommend for an easy read

I really enjoyed the honesty and really enjoyed all the stories of the authors time in glee. It was also refreshing to be able to see that she has gone through struggles that many have delt with

An amazing read indeed

I love this book. I love Naya's insights on things and life

Thoughtful, perceptive (and fun)

This book is quite a bit more serious - and dramatic - than you might expect. Maya is analytical, intense and thoughtful about the many ups and downs she has experienced in her life. But it's also fun. As a reader definitely outside the typical demographic (I'm a 62 yr old white male), I learned some very interesting new slang! One clarification: despite the title, she IS sorry about certain things and not sorry about others.

Naya is amazing!

I loved Naya before reading this, but now she is without a doubt one of my favorite people on the planet! I wish her nothing but success in all she does! What a sweetheart! Oh big sean and his music sucks just saying.

Thank you

Loved the book

Sorry

Very interesting to read about how hollywood can make a person do things that they shouldn't

This was an easy read. It revealed Naya's journey

This was an easy read. It revealed Naya's journey. I found it did help to explain Nay's relationship with Lea Michelle.

Such an amazing book

I absolutely love this book and I love Naya she was truly huge inspiration in my life and will always be so to be able to read about her life and struggles. I highly recommend this book

it felt like there were a couple of chapters missing just before ...

It is entertaining but just a little disappointing bec I was expecting more stories....it felt like there were a couple of chapters missing just before she landed Glee....

Light and Fun Reading

This book sounds like it was actually written by Naya instead of a ghost author. It's extra funny if you already know some of her background and/or watched Glee. It was honest, funny, and thoughtful. My favorite line was "Oh girl that was the wrong thing to say because Nay Nay did not work for a while." It could have been a bit longer but I enjoyed the read.

Loved this. Entertaining and honest from start to finish

Loved this. Entertaining and honest from start to finish. She doesn't try to make herself look good. She admits to her flaws and learns from them. She never stays down for long. She's hilariously self deprecating and that adds to the realness of it all. I'm an even bigger fan of hers now.

Great book to read

Great book. I was laughing and relatable . I totally recommend this book. I enjoyed it, I was surprised of the real ness

Love

Very good. Very easy to read and keeps you entertained

Nice read

Naya was really open about her life. It was a fun read.

Light, easy read

I was a huge fan of Glee and watched it growing up throughout high school. It defiantly helped me get through high school. Santana was one of my favorites and I loved getting to read about the person behind Santana Lopez. I would recommend this book.

Rest In Peace

Reading this felt like you were still alive. And for those brief moments, you were. This book is the kick in the ass a lot of people don’t know they need.

Touching

Naya was an amazing and down to earth person. This book is a tell all story about her life. She reveals who she was and what her was like on and off screen. RIP beautiful soul

Great book!

I'm glad Naya wrote this book. I can relate to some topics and it kind of made me feel better.

easy read, hilarious

easy read, hilarious, honest about events that fans had heard of and a gave me a little time travel to a time where Glee was the center of my life

Five Stars

Perfect.

Loved it from start to finish

Loved it from start to finish. She dips her toes in some gossipy stuff in a couple chapters, but it's not about that and that's part of its charm. But yet she delivers just enough juice to keep those interested primarily in that on the hook. She just has a humor and candor that is refreshing. I feel like her best work and where she comes across so sincere is in discussing her family's struggles, her difficult and very personal choices, her faith, her closest relationships (family and friendships), and her race. The parts where it feels like she might be trying too hard to make a splash and so her writing feels less natural is in the flashier parts where she addresses well-known rumors. These are sprinkled throughout and they bring a lot of the entertainment, but they are a different vibe from what is really an engaging book that was just so easy to read. She has a pretty awesome story and pretty awesome perspective. She's not afraid to show her messy side and she's determined as ever to learn from it. Honestly, every woman should buy this book. Being a woman can be tough. But we're pretty damn strong. Being a woman of color is even tougher. And Naya shows just how resilient and empowering and proud she is.

Couldn't syop

This was a good and easy read. Naya is funny witty and ready to tell it like it is. I was surprised at how she isn't your typical celebrity. She is real and that girl from High School you wish you knew.

Naya Rivera is a queen

A must read for everyone. Naya Rivera did an incredible job at writing a memoir that effortlessly inspires young women and men of all ages! Work hardenjoy life

Not well written

Not well written.

Wonderfully written

Really is a good read. Finished it in two days. I would definitely recommend. It reminds you that she's a human being just like everyone else.

Pure Talant. Her book is the first audible show all in one that has inactivated me by not only her story but her infliction. Dialect and performance was like a virtual read. My goodness she's so talented and important to point out that she's a gem of a vibrant energy superbly spiritual and I have never met her. Few people exclude that earth like angelic personality. Her voice calms my day a s well as entertains as she designed it to be. Simply exceptional and t g at make a me upset that her plan with the Lord came was at too soon.

I wrote my comments aforementioned I hope this is read and shared bc she's the most talented female and we know she would have only kept moving

Excellent for fans.

It was a present for mu daughter and she was thrilled. Actually, she finished it in two days.

Amazing book

Great read. She’s courageous & brave for going into all of her flaws & conquering them

Quick and easy read

Kinda skips back and forth which can be annoying but overall well written and easy to read. Not a ton of Glee dishing; she kept it classy. Overall I recommend for the Glee fan.

Good read

Love the honesty but also the restraint in the stories. Great insight to who she was. May she Rest In Peace.

Awesome book. Never watched Glee

Awesome book. Never watched Glee, and only knew of her name. I heard it was good (and juicy) so I ordered it and loved it. She's a no effs given type of person which I love. It was a good read.

Love it!

Realest book ive ever read

Two Stars

It was okayyyyyy, she's no writer but the story was interesting

Much More Than I Expected

I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. I was shocked that the last chapter actually made me cry. A lot of this book is superficial, but when Naya digs deep she gives readers some moving and insightful words of wisdom.

I really enjoyed this book

I really enjoyed this book. I bought this book after seeing her in a TV interview I thought Naya was very vulnerable and honest. In the book I admired her tenacity and spirit, very inspirational.

Loved her honesty

Really enjoyed reading about her upbringing, the early years as a child actress and all the gossipy showbiz stuff too.

Nice Read

I loved how honest Naya was in this book

AN EXCELLENT MUST READ!!!!

So I'm usually a rater of books by just giving stars with no written feedback....95% of the time, but this book I simply had to review. So this has been the 2nd nonfiction book I've read willingly, besides textbooks and required reading while I school of course, and it was completely worth my damn time. The book had me hooked from start to finish and I was actually getting angry that work interrupted me reading/listening to this amazing book. So I waited until the audiobook came out to delve into the book because I wanted to literally hear Naya's voice while reading or when I was stuck driving to and from Austin for work today. What made this book so spectacularly awesome was I felt like Naya was having a freaking conversation with me the entire book. I even caught myself replying back and making comments aloud which thankfully no one walked by when I went outside on my lunch break to continue reading/listening. So Kudos Naya on this amazing book and if it didn't already capture your lifespan from womb until now I'd totally be like "Girl hurry up with that sequel!!"

Amazing

Honestly, it was just an amazing well written book. I learned so much about Naya. I also was really inspired by her. A must read!

My book was dirty :/

I love this book but I’m so mad my book came all dirty and with sticker remains ...

Real

Loved the realness. Appreciate her even more! The book was a fast read for anyone who loves a good laugh, drama, and a flashback to your twenties. Peace and blessings Naya!

Forthright, engaging and unapologetic. Naya isn't perfect and she's secure enough to admit her mistakes and learn from them. A strong role model for younger girls.

I was hoping on there being more focus on Glee but it's still very well written and quite inspiring to be honest. She's struggled with many different things and still came out on top and I love that for her.

the best book I've read in a while

I read the book in like five Hours. I love Naya Rivera. She hits on so many things that we as people struggle with everyday.

New found respect

After reading Sorry Not Sorry I have a totally new found respect for Naya. I was a big fan for the first couple of seasons of Glee but then the writing just got SO ridiculous that I couldn't stand to watch it anymore. So while I still remained somewhat of a fan like most people I let all the rumors and the disaster of an engagement to Big Sean color my opinion. But for some reason I still chose to buy this book and I'm really glad I did. I've not read any other memoirs but I'd be shocked if any of them are as open, honest and raw and hilarious is this one. I respect that she shared not only the good, but the bad and ugly as well. Even if your just a casual fan I highly recommend you take the time to read this book - I promise it won't take long because once you start you won't want to put it down - it's just THAT good!

Great book!

If you love Naya Rivera you will love this book

Five Stars

Good book. I like some difficult topics she sopke about.

Amazing book!

I love this book! Is like Naya is talking to you, sharing all her experience and the way to be famous with glee. I would recommend it to everybody!

Great read

I picked it up because I love me a good autobiography. Especially since I'm having a hard time going through some of the ups and down that life gives. I feel like I resonated with Naya's feelings and it was nice to know I'm not as loony tunes as I thought I was.

The best book of 2016, for all millennials, for every female and for years to come.

Naya's book is amazing, hilarious and as a female, just what is needed in 2016. It's easy to see the hard work, the time and the openness she put into this and none go unnoticed or unappreciated. I myself have gone through tons of things she has and it's so refreshing to see someone I idolize open up about it all and let us into her life. This book is handsdown a must read for anyone, any female and anyone who wants a true, open and honest memoir. I have gotten to meet Naya personally on two occasions and can say this shows even more so how amazing she is in the truest form. I read it twice already and can't wait for her to do signings. She opens up about so many relatable topics and gives such great advice just by showing how she got through things. It had me laughing, crying, relating and all around smiling the entire time I read about such a powerful role model. Too often, people are touchy about the truth and can't handle it, but Naya tells it how it is all around and is just a queen in true form as a writer. AND SHE WROTE IT ALL HERSELF :) ~Coco

Best Memoir that I have ever read.

This is the very first memoir I have ever read. It was so good that I read it twice and even bought the audio book. It is an amazingly well written book. I learned so much about Naya and was really inspired by her. The book seems to be marketed towards young girls; however, as 50 year old women I was very inspired by Naya’s concept of Sorry Not Sorry. There are things in life that we just should not feel bad about. This book had me looking back at my life and feeling better about those moments that I had felt sorry about and looking at them in a new way. I would recommend this book to everybody!

Definitely a good book to read that would give you a lesson ...

Amazinf

I love Naya so much and this book just solidified my love for her

You should be sorry

I loved Glee, so I had to read the book that was talking about the rumored fight between Naya and Lea, but mostly what I found was a has been TV star trying to talk herself up and pretend like she was still in the height of the show. There are fun little tidbits, but not enough to recommend it.

Girl power!!!

Naya is so strong and courageous for putting her story out there despite some things. I adore her. Girl power!!!! Pow

quirky, Intelligent, and funny

Loved it.... Knew I would. Naya Rivera is a class act and doesn't disappoint . The anticipation of her book was met by her words and history that we all hoped she would tell.

Great book with lots of juicy behind the scenes of Glee.

Definitely recommend this book to any fan of Glee! Its sad to hear Cory struggled so hard, but inspiring to see how much of a family the cast still is.

What's Not to Love about Naya

Definitely Enjoyed reading Naya's Book and really loved that she didn't hold back and kept it real until very last chapter not many people especially celebrities can really relate to regular people but she can instead of growing up with money she explained how she literally worked her A** off to get where she is now and Honestly I think most people can relate and I am one of them. she also gave some pretty amazing Advice on what not to do when Collection agencies called ( Laughed at that one. and to never give up on your dreams and Also never lower yourself to other people's expectations ) currently going to school to work on films and directing & I had gotten a Internship at One of ABC Studio's Lot's it has been the most amazing experience growing up I didn't have the best child hood some of I can remember and I loved How she talked about Her parents something I know I can relate to no marriage is perfect and no person is perfect also But my favorite part is when she said her father was giving her financial Advice including when to pay off Her credit I believe we all can say Our father's ( Those who still have one or have passed on ) even both parents did everything in their power to make sure The kids grew up better than they did and a Major shout out to Naya's Mom Yolanda she pretty much is that Mama Bear/Super mom who every kid had growing up My mom was the same she taught us the Value's in life

So good!!

This book is the best thing I've ever read! Well done Naya! You were truthful and honest about daily struggles everyone goes through!! Worth the read!! ❤❤❤

Expected better

I have never seen glee but I liked Naya from what I read on gossip sites. I was excited to read this book bc let's face it, I wanted to hear some juicy secrets about everything! However during the book I started sensing that she comes across narcosistic and the flow is absolutely terrible! There is no order, she goes back and forth between child days and adult days. She needed to put more work into the book as far time lining things better and even the stories should've been better and more in depth. I feel she tried too hard on topics and when she explains certain things I get the sense she's trying to be cooler than maybe it actually was.

I personally love it.

Naya has been my favorite singer and person TV since 2009 when she started Glee. That's how I was exposed to her. I love this book since it gives more of an insight to my favorite celebrity. It's funny, well written, and obviously means a lot as she talks about things very close to her heart. To me it's just a personal tell all and I really admire it. While I have different views than she does on some things, I still respect her for her choices and opinions. I admire her for taking a stand and coming out and discussing the topics that she does knowing that some people may backlash. I'd recommend it for anyone interested in memoirs, because I personally love it.

Five Stars

Good book, especially if you were a huge Glee fan like me.

Not sorry I bought this.

Naya's performance in Glee made me a fan, but I didn't know much about her life. Naya is wise to have dealt with her past troubles and tabloid gossip from recent years in a way she could control with this book. I have a lot of respect for her openness about certain events that others might judge her for and was very impressed with how genuine her writing felt. Naya gave us enough glimpses into many different aspects of her life to feel like we got to know her, mentioning the obvious elephants in the room, without giving the impression she was just trying to cash in on those events. I don't necessarily agree with all of her choices, but her experiences are very relatable with good advice for those struggling to find their direction and success in life. I thoroughly enjoyed her book and couldn't put it down.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G great book !!

Naya rocks!! She is just herself, and made me feel part of her stories!! I loved her book, hopefully there's a second book coming some other day!!

A UNIQUE LITTLE BOOK

By the time Glee ended, Santana Lopez, the iconic character played by Naya Rivera, had emerged as the most interesting, nuanced, evolved, and complex character on the show. Rivera seems to have developed this role largely through her own talents, which by the show’s end arguably surpassed even those of the show’s lead actress. One can only hope that viewers will have further opportunities to see Rivera work. This book is about much more than Glee It is fast-moving, informational, fun-to-read, and at times downright inspiring. Rivera manages the impossible trick of being both honest and respectful. It’s an unique little book. Never read anything quite like it.

simply the best!!

Naya, simply the best!!!!!!!!!

I've always loved her honesty and sass

She's hilarious! I've always loved her honesty and sass. Great memoir.

Five Stars

Best book I've ever read

Great first book

I never imagined Naya as a writer, but I have do admit that this was a really good first book for her. If you were a fan of Glee, you will finally learn some answers about rumors that were published by the tabloids years ago, and she has gone through so much that you don't get bored reading about her life experiences. An easy and entertaining read.

Loved reading this

Loved reading this. You can picture her saying all of what's written. It's very her. As a fan of glee I was most excited for that part of the book but fell in love with the rest. Learning about her early days and the difficult times she's been through was awesome. As a fan you picture celebs as perfect and it's very refreshing to see she's so much like me in ways I never could have guessed. Anyone (boy, girl, rich, poor, etc..) can relate to this and I recommend this as a must read!!!

The BEST and most honest book I've read this year!

I have been counting down the days for months until this book came out. I'd even gone into a reading slump, because i didn't want to read the next best thing, I wanted to read Naya's book. I downloaded it this morning at 8 am and read the final word at 5:30pm. I didn't know what I was getting into, but after one chapter I was hooked. The timeline bounces around, but each chapter centers on one theme. Money, Dating, Mistakes, Race, Glee, ETC. I absolutely loved it, because Naya was able to share that part of her life with different experiences that she was Sorry for, and Not Sorry about. I had my kindle in one hand and my phone open with Google in another. Each chapter lead me to a new google search. BTW, it's so mind boggling to know that the B2K video I watched during my middle school days had Naya in it. She couldn't have written her first (and hopefully not last) book any better. It's insightful, something she and her readers can reflect on. It's also hilarious, I would love to spend an afternoon with Naya, just laughing and sharing jokes. I'm now proud to classify myself as "All the whites". Final thoughts, before her book, I enjoyed Naya on Glee. After her book, I have mad respect for Naya, and will definitely be watching whatever she decides to act in next. (No rush! Enjoy being a mother.)

Just an okay read.

Naya comes across in this book as very shallow, and hateful. It would be very hard to have a friend like her.

A bit disappointing...

She didn't want to write a "trashy tell-all" book, but IMO it's just that. I admire her tenacity, but the first half if the book seemed to be mostly bragging about herself. I think sharing her abortion experience could help other women. The crude language is why I consider it trashy....just not necessary.

Four Stars

I thought their would be more on Lea Michele of what kind of person she really was.

she has great potential and

This is a lovely first book from Naya Rivera. As a writer, she has great potential and. one hopes, continues to write. She's the girl we all wanted to be while growing up in the 50's and 60's in Southern California. Naya's sensitivity, her intelligence and her drive are remarkable and need to be passed along to just about everyone, including the boys. I live in Washington state now and reading the book made me homesick for the California lifestyle and the California "attitude". I highly recommend it to teenagers and any young girl or woman who has struggled to stay true to herself and still "do something" with her life. Living can be very painful at times and the sooner we learn to forgive ourselves, allow ourselves to be human and move on, the better. Naya has lots of good advice for us as we try to make sense of it all. And last but not least, thank you for letting your fans see that Santana Lopez lives on in you and is still fighting the good fight. Good luck, Naya. I look forward to your next book.

Frank anecdotes from your favorite 'Glee' mean girl.

I loved the frank and to the point narrative style of Naya. It sounded like she was curled up on the couch next to you with a cuppa having a girly heart to heart. It’s not the most well-written memoir I’ve read, but that’s because of her goal to be honest with her audience, not wow people with flowery phrase and symbolism, or shock and awe with some tabloid tell-all. And I have to applaud her with this raw and revealing autobiography. I did get a certain tone coming across – an ‘I’m good and I know it.’ But as she states in this memoir it’s a product of the entertainment industry she’s been a part of since she was 5 years old. You have to be ballsy and confident, put yourself out there to win roles. Toot your own horn. So I don’t fault her for this attitude because it’s gotten her to where she is today and will see her through a successful career in the future. There were some topics touched on with that same realism, like identity, eating disorders, family, as well as events around her ‘Glee’ co-stars like Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, and Lea Michele. Which to be frank the latter is the biggest reason many pick up this book. She handled everything with aplomb and I loved her attitude in dealing with conflict, friendships, and the public eye. The theme of reflection is inevitable in a memoir, and with Naya tackling sex, past relationships, and her marriage, she comes at slut shaming head-on. I just about cheered at her take on letting women explore their own sexuality. We’re allowed to have slutty years, make bad decisions, party a little. It’s how we learn life lessons and grow wiser. It should be embraced and celebrated, not shamed. Her discussion on abortion, race, and religion would have to be of the most controversial topics she raises. All from her own personal experiences. A warts and all approach. It was refreshing to read a realistic portrayal, her regrets, mistakes, and what she did to pick herself up afterwards and keep on going. It showed true strength of character and determination, and had me even more envious of her resolve. My first introduction to Naya was through ‘Glee,’ and I loved her acting, her singing, and comic timing. I wish I got to see more of her on the big screen as think she is truly talented. This autobiography also showed me how much more there is to her professionally. And living vicariously through her words, I know I am an even bigger fan. She seems to have come full circle. A fun quick light read with a surprisingly quaint philosophical point. But I’d probably only recommend it for fans of her work. The writing style is very contemporary, frank, and while delivering an important message, references a lot of social media and tabloid goings-on. So if you’re not connected to that world, you won’t really get into Naya’s life battles. But she is definitely one woman I’m expecting an amazing future from.

Loved the trip

I received a copy of this book through the Goodreads First Reads giveaway program in the hopes that I would leave an honest review. This book was one of my most desired wins on Goodreads. I literally squealed when I got the email informing me that I'd won, because I'm a big fan of Santana on Glee. Actually, my feelings for Santana are kind of love/hate types of feelings because she's really not a nice person for quite a while, but she grows on you in the end. Reading about Naya's feelings playing her actually validated those feelings really. At least she was supposed to come across that way, it seems. I'd say the part of the book where Naya talks about her time on Glee was probably my favorite, because that is the part of her career that I'm familiar with. At the same time, it was really interesting to me to learn about her life growing up as a child actor of color. At times, it almost seemed like because of her mother's drive, her ability to memorize lines, and her skin tone, she almost had it easy when it came to finding work, as long as the people casting were looking for someone "exotic" aka, not white. And I doubt she actually had it easy, but the way she talks about it in the book, it seems that way at times. When Naya was talking about her now ex-husband, it made me feel a little sad, because while she was writing that part of the book at least, she seemed to be so in love with him, and now just a few months after the book released, they're divorced. And that's sad. Now I'm not really the target audience for this book. It's really aimed for the high school crowd. It's got some pretty decent advice to hopefully keep them from making some of the same mistakes that Naya made in her youth, although sometimes you really have to make the mistakes yourself to really learn from them (Naya would agree with me, because I'm pretty sure I took that from her book.) But even though I'm not the target audience, I really enjoyed being invited down memory lane with Naya, and I may have learned a thing or two as well, maybe. Overall I give Sorry Not Sorry 5 out of 5 stars because I absolutely flew through it and loved pretty much every minute of it.

Wonderful story with a sad update

I enjoyed this audiobook narrated by the author a great deal. It was so impressive to hear her talk about her career that started so young, yet still sounding so very down to earth. It held my interest all the way through as she talked about growing up, and her family, being broke at times when she didn’t get a lot of acting gigs around her early teens, etc. I went into this not knowing a lot about Naya Rivera, as I’ve not really watched Glee, so this helped me to feel like I know more about her. Since she passed away this month by drowning, I wanted to make a point of reading about her in honor of her as a young mom lost too soon.

Naya fans need to buy!!!

I brought Naya's book from the bookstore and I loved it! Each chapter goes back and forth from her past and how it helped shape her today. maya is very open with her life experiences and doesn't trash talk anyone like a lot of the media anticipated before the book was released. She does mention she and lea Michele didn't always get along and aren't friends but she does not directly say anything "bad" about lea. She talks about her previous jobs and family life. She talks about her journey to glee and past relationships. She even talks about her now husband and what the media didn't know about their " quick wedding". I actually laughed so much in this book, especially the story about how she sold her first wedding dress. Buy this book if your a fan of Naya and a motivating book about how to live your life with no regrets.

Similarities, unexpected.

Did not know what to expect when I ordered this book. I had agreed with Naya's views from what I saw from articles. I, however, did not expect this to become my second favorite book of all time. As I said before, I agreed with her views from articles I read, but not until reading this book did I realize how similar she and I are(at least in perspectives on life, God, and mistakes). In closing, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a genuine perspective on life; and a must own for 'Glee' fans(particularly if Santana is your favorite character like me).

Excellent Read!!

It’s a great book! I read the audiobook. It’s a blessing that we have the chance to hear Naya read her own book. It’s full of life lessons, highs and lows, but most of all it’s like hearing a big sister talk to you, so that you can learn from her mistakes. Naya was a blessing from God and she will be missed!! ❤️

You can feel her attitude while reading the book.

I loved glee, and I love reading celebrities biographies. She definitely has a fiery attitude just like her character Santana from glee. But it's a fun book. I'm sorry she's gone from this world :(

Everything I liked about the book

Love this book! I am a big fan of glee and Santana is my spirit animal. I felt so much closer to Naya herself! The back of the book was a little bit damaged but all the pages were fine! 10/10 recommend reading... I am not a big reader and I’ve been trying to find a book that would speak to me and this is it!

Must read

Now, I'm not gonna lie. First I thought this book was going to be a "tell all" but as I began to read the first pages I was sucked into a story of a girl growing up in/out, of a Hollywood industry. Also, the ups and downs of life and how she tried to navigate it. Naya writes as if she was talking to a dear friend about her life (unfiltered) and that makes the book even more personable. I recommend this book for anyone, I couldn't put it down!

Piece of Trash!

I hated giving this book even one star! I had really liked her character on Glee so looked forward to reading about her life. But this was a piece of trash! She loves throwing out the "F" word and letting you know how important and what a star she thinks she is. Her jealousy of Rachel on Glee was so very obvious. I was so disappointed. She needs to get over herself!

Very personal & entertaining

Kept me intrigued the whole time! Able to losten while I cooked or took a bath. Love you Naya!!!!

Amazing book!

This book is amazing! Naya's willingness to open up and share her life story, including the mishaps and successes, is truly inspiring. For anyone going through young adulthood, this book is for you. Naya told her story and gave great advice, while still being able to crack a joke or two. 10/10 from me.

its a fun and "juicy" read but most of all it is ...

I live in NYC and so most of the time I would be on the subway or bus while reading this book, and I must have looked crazy to some people because I couldn't keep myself from laughing, or tearing up, or saying "You did WHAT?!" out loud for people around me to hear. Then I'd look up and realize I was in public and try to act normal but then again its NYC, "normal" isn't a thing. This book will bring out all the feels, its a fun and "juicy" read but most of all it is honest and inspiring.

Good book

Good book

This is not gossip or a tell all book, but a must read account of portions in Naya’s life.

Reading this book is refreshing, because it felt like I was reading about the person and actually getting to know her better. Naya shared experiences with her readers which she knew she would get backlash from her audience, and that takes courage. I feel that the book comes across as quite honest and is very funny in some parts. I bought the audiobook and it made her stories even funnier, but I’m bias because I love Naya and her honesty, courage, and big heart. Thanks for reading!

Tomorrow is not promised.

Inspiring, amazing, we get to experience her life through her words, stories and pictures. By the phrasing, language, and humor, You can tell she wrote this. It's filled with love, triumph, and cease the day kind of attitude. Tomorrow is not promised.

A needed read

Naya was a beautiful spirit in a world of chaos. It was an amazing read that I breezed through with so much imagery. I wish I read this sooner. She was the light most of us are searching within ourselves.

Naya

This book is very revealing, especially since the loss of Naya Rivera. It was great hearing her voice again

Great Book!

Love her honesty!...and the way she narrates keeps you engaged.

Great read! I’m sad she’s gone.

I’m sorry she’s no longer here to have a longer story, but not sorry she has this great as a mark of her (too short) life.
