Sketching from the Imagination: Anime & Manga

This book has filled me with inspiration. Every time I open is I find something new and unique from another artist. It is full of sketches and fully colored pieces along with notes of the artist. This book is everything I wanted and more, definitely a great purchase.

Unlike most "anime/manga" art books I've seen (mainly alot of the "How to Draw Manga Books"), this book features many different styles outside of the industry standard. It's a great book for more professional artists and hobbyists who need motivation or inspiration. It's NOT a How to Draw Book by any means, but it could reveal some new techniques that make you wanna draw again. It certainly has done that for me.

It is a nice portfolio of different artist. Can copy their style to then later develop my own style. It has alot of nice well drawn sketches. Plenty of ideas to come up with inspiration.

It's a really nice and complete book. I think that it's always useful to analyse other artists and this beautiful book showcases artwork from fifty of them all of whom have their own style that you can appreciate and learn from. Many thanks to the artists for sharing their work and to the 3dtotal publishing team for putting this together! I highly recommend the 'sketching from the imagination' series (of books).

As someone wanting to go into the Animation Industry as an indie, this book really helped because I feel more determined than ever to become a great artist and an even better animator!

I had bought the very first "Sketching from the Imagination" book years ago. And you can't go wrong with this more specific one about Anime & Manga: it contains many inspiring drawings and in various styles, so there are likely at least a few artists that will appeal to your taste. The artworks on the cover also occur inside the book, just to give a hint of what you will find inside ;-) I also enjoyed reading about the methods and tools these artists use, and that they have diverse backgrounds, professional and hobbyists alike. In addition, some artists provide specific advice, like the trick of mirroring your drawings to check for errors. Nice!

Il libro è molto bello e le immagini presenti sono molto belle, ma il soggetto è sempre e solo la figura femminile. Mi immaginavo uno sbilanciamento verso di essa, ma non al punto che i soggetti maschili li conti sulle dita di una mano. Peccato.

É um livro muito bom, assim como os demais da série. Quem tem interesse em ilustração é uma bibliografia obrigatória.

Tiene buena información para flujo de trabajo y referencia pero no es una guía paso a paso

The book compiles the work of several "Manga" and/or "Anime" artists and their different aproach and advices to sketching and drawing in general. Althrough the book is marketed and Manga/Anime, a handful of these could fit into the semi-realism category in my opinion. I'm into this kind of art so i'm not complaining :) ! This book is to use as inspiration of different takes on anime art rather than a big tutorial. It's worth it if you're interested in Anime art, I recommend !
