fun! even for a train-obsessed 3 year old
Purchased book with hopes to segway into topics other than trains with my 3 year old. He recently got excited about making rockets blast off, so the lift the flap space book seemed like it could pique interest. I've been surprised about how fun this book is to read. New pages become interesting as his knowledge of space grows, and I was perplexed and excited to find ourselves discussing the big bang and the creation of matter, and gravity. The international space station page remains a highlight, since it has astronauts floating around, and a myriad of rockets blasting off. A big hit, in our otherwise train-loving household! He didn't love it immediately, but after a couple months, he's excited to go through it together. I like that it's reveals a different story each time, depending on what topic is of interest that day.
Great book for reluctant learners!
This is a really fun book. The flaps make it less boring than a text book but it is full of information. I got it for my 5th grader even though you might think this type of book is for younger children because of the flaps and whatnot. That is not true with this series. There is really a lot of information packed in this book so that even at a 5th grade level my son is still learning. My child is homeschooled and is reluctant to pick up a book if it is for "school" but this book made learning fun and he really enjoys looking through it!
My 4YO LOVES this Book!
We purchased this book for my four year old, who loves everything about space. This book is one of his absolute favorites (along with a few other "fun flap" books). It is excellently written, with a different major topic on each pair of pages, such as "the Big Bang" and "Our Solar System." The level of explanation is excellent for any child ages 3-8: it's the edge of my son's comprehension. Also, lifting each flap lets the child explore more deeply into the specific topic, adding greatly to the child's intellectual development. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all of us who dream about the heavens!
Very cool!
This book entranced my little boy in space. We read it over several nights and he loved every minute of it! The pocket tips, fold our pages, and star map are great resources and make learning about space a lot of fun for kids.
Disappointed
If you believe in the big bang theory, this is the book for you. However, it is not what I was hoping for, and I will be looking into other options on this topic for my 4 year old.
great for 7 year olds??
bought this after buying the airplane book and the cars book for my 3.5 year old. both we loved. This one is definitely for older kids. Good book but the concept of space is so abstract in and of itself.
Five Stars
My five year old grandson enjoys anything Star Wars and space.
Great gift for any young child
I recommend all of the Usborne books in this series. This book is especially fun & makes a great gift combined with a space shuttle toy to really light up the child's interest. I have purchased this for kids as young as 3-4.
Lots of interesting facts
This book was at our dentist office and it occupied my son and his brother for a long time. And it has lots of interesting facts. We had to have it for ourselves! Great book!
Great gift!
Awesome book for a 4 year old. Lots of detail at an appropriate level. He goes to this book and "reads" it by himself.

Fantastic
What an interesting, high-quality book. Will occupy a child for ages, looking under all the flaps. Well done, as expected.
Lots of content on the big bang
This space book dedicates 3 pages to the big bang.
Love this & the other See Insides
All of Usborne's See Insides are marvelous. This one is geared to ages 6 or 7, up to 11-12ish, the way most of them are. Nonfic, drawings (no photographs), but a great introduction to the complexity of space. Ends with maps of the sky, for both hemispheres. Love it!! See your Usborne rep to get it free. :)
Worst Usborne book ever!
My son recieved this book as a gift from my mother-in-law. I am certain if she had read through the book she would not have purchased this title. I am shocked that Usborne has decided to teach the big bang theory as fact. We are a christian family and believe otherwise. I was happy with this gift until I actually read it, as I have loved Uborne books in the past, and the See inside your body book is one of my son's favorite. It will be going back and I'll get him see inside the earth, as long as that is not loaded with an atheist agenda.
Big Bang theory book
Not a typical Usborn selection as it is loaded with big bang theory. The outside looks good and some pages contain good info but the first page has a explanation that the entire universe started with big bang and the entire book is based on that premise. Not a book for my children....made a mistake in buying it.
coll
love, bought used but great quality!! Lots of lift flaps and random info my 4 year old loved!
Flap-tastic
This is another great Usborne book, with a load of flaps and fold out sections to occupy your child. I also liked that there is a lot of interesting information too which will extend the entertainment value of this book.
Good book. Key stage 1 age.
Great book but a bit advanced compared to similar. We bought dinosaurs and sea one which perfect for 3/4 years old. This was is much older however description makes this clear.
Education for old and young.
Bought this as a present for my 8 year old space mad son. As with all Usborne see inside books, this is a sturdy hardcover book with plenty of facts. The book may seem as though it is aimed at a much younger audience but it is packed with lots of information, teaching young and old alike. The illustrations are colourful with attention to detail. Lift the flaps and cut away pictures make this an interactive book as well as Internet links on the usborne site. We are big fans of this series and are slowly building up the collection. I can see these books being passed down to cousins once mine are too old.
Perfect for space loving kids
Perfect for space freak kid. Flaps make it more interesting. Even an adult would keep flipping through. Good for 3-10 year old. Usborne books nevwr disappoint. Your kid will definitely love this.
Really great book!
Wonderful book! My 10yr old daughter in key stage 2 is learning about space, so I bought her this book. It is brilliant! So much information, the flaps make it fun, and it’s just so interesting! I’d probably say most suitable for ages from 8yrs & upwards.
Usboure 'See Inside Space' - Fantastic
I bought this book for my childrens project at school (they are 8) and are going to be learning about Space. I am already a fan of Usbourne books and read the reviews for this book and thought it would be ideal......It did NOT disappoint. This book is absolutely FANTASTIC. It is full of facts that even I didn't realise about Space. The way that it is presented is EXCITING, COLOURFUL, IMAGINATIVE and very ENGAGING. My children love this book so much, they read it all on their own and don't realise that they are learning at the same time. I would definately recommend this book for ages up to 12 (even adults would enjoy it also!)
Very good
Son really enjoyed this book
Brilliant for enquiring minds!
I have bought this book for my 5 year old son for Christmas, he is going to love this! Although he is learning to read, the graphics and 'lift the flaps' are perfect to keep him interested as we talk about the topic. It also, allows me to 'swot up' and be able to answer his questions when we don't have the book to hand!!! This is a book that will grow with my boys, and I highly recommend - as with all the other 'See Inside .....' range.
Great quality book
A good quality book at a great price and Usborne are really good . I bought this for my 4yr old son for Xmas but looking through the book I think I might just wait till he's a bit older before giving it to him . It is really good with a lot of information but I feel it's more for slightly older children with the amount of information on each page there is a lot of writing which I think he will appreciate but not just yet .
Good product
Good book for school projects.
Excellent Quality
The book was purchased as a gift for a 5 year old, who is a big space fan. It hasn't been received yet, but I've taken a peek through it. It appears to have ALOT of information, but I think that is a good thing as it won't be a book that will collect dust after a few peeks, I think the longevity in it is excellent. Hard cover too, so is durable. I'm very pleased with this purchase, think it is great value and it arrived quickly & well packaged. Many thanks.
Disappointed in this book
I bought this book for my young son who is fascinated by the planets, stars and solar system. I selected it based on the glowing reviews in Amazon. Unfortunately, I have to disagree. I like the flip the flap approach and the wonderful illustrations and for that, I am giving this book 2 stars rather than 1. But for a younger child, this book is simply not appropriate. First, the first half of the book is focused on the big bang theory and not on space in general. Of course the origins of the universe are important, but not so much to a young kid. The huge emphasis on explaining the big bang gets boring. The second thing is that the style of the writing is really aimed at an older child perhaps 10 and up, while the illustrations and flaps are aimed at a younger child. The third thing is that there is a wonderful fold out drawing of the solar system in the middle of the book. But rather than having the Sun on the left and planets in order to the right, the sun is in the middle and some planets are to the right some to the left. My son looked at it and said, "That is not the order of the planets". It is really confusing. This book is really intended for an older child, not as an introduction to space for a younger child.
Fantastic Book!
This is a brilliant book. I read it myself before giving it to my 8 year old nephew and I was so amazed at the facts it contained I felt like saying to everyone "Did you know that ......?" My nephew absolutely loved the book. I have also bought one for my 7 year old grandson who lives in Australia as the little booklet that came with it that gave a map of the planets viewed from the Norther and Southern hemisphere - great bonus.
Excellent Book with so much information and enjoyment inside!
Bought as a Christmas gift for a 4-year-old girl, who's mad about space and stars. My son looked through this and was excited by all the great illustrations and interesting facts. They're well presented and easy to understand, without being overly simplistic or patronising. My little niece will love this and find it interesting for years to come - and even my son (aged 15 and also "star mad") said he had learned things from this book, which he hadn't known before.
Delighted
Absolutely fantastic book
Fantastic
Beautiful book, my niece loved it. Designed so well. Really interactive, great for learning, a book she enjoys and wants to read again and again. She always finds out something new. As my niece states - this is such a cool story because its real.... Its the story of all around the world. Can't recommend highly enough.
Great book for kids who love Space
My kids love anything Space and have very much enjoyed this book.
Exciting and wonderful illustrations
I purchased this as a gift to a nine-year old boy, who doesn't speak English yet. Space as a topic will interest him and his curiosity about the English language will most certainly be sparked thanks to some fantastic illustrations. The book is full of action in each of the eight topics and I'd love to do more than just carefully bend some of the 50+ flaps open!
Kids in Space
Plenty to keep the kids interested, there are lots of little hidden flaps to open and explore. a great introduction to space and the planets of our solar system. at the moment Venus and Jupiter are close together in the night sky,
Great
My space obsessed boy loves it.
Highly recommend this if you’re looking for a book about space
I love this whole range of books - this one is incredibly detailed if your child is into space. They’ll learn a lot, I think this book will last for years.
Easy to understand
I bought this for my 4 year old grandson. He loved it, so many things to read about
Lovely book!
Bought for my 6 yr old daughter who is fascinated by outer space at the moment. It is a lovely book and was bought far cheaper online than in the shops. It has lots of great facts although as with anything printed some of them are already out of date but that can't be helped. Lovely illustration and lots of little surprises along the way to keep them interested.
3 year old loves this book as its lift the ...
3 year old loves this book as its lift the flap, she chooses it often for bedtime story so I summarise the facts about space to her. I am sure as she gets older she will discover all the interesting information within the book, lots of things I never knew about space!
Fun and informative. Basic but enough for 4-7 year old.
Really good book for my 5 year old, will last him a few years I should think and covers broad basic info about our solar system.
Great
I got this for my younger brother whose 6 as a christmas present. We have the one about the body so thought this would be great. The pictures are brilliant and it's good for children. There's even a little map in the back so you can identify stars in the sky all over the world.
No lengthy review needed - just buy it - its worth it and you wont be disappointed. Perfect for 5-8 year olds
I have bought numerous books in this range and they are worth every penny. No lengthy review needed - just buy it - its worth it and you wont be disappointed. Perfect for 5-8 year olds.
Great book, fun to read
My daughter and I love these 'See Inside' books. We have several of them. She's still of the age where lift the flap books grab her imagination. You won't regret purchasing this one, as any of the other ones in this range.
Just Brilliant
I bought this book for my son who is almost 4. The book covers space and space travel. The graphics of the solar system are excellent and exiting. There is even a pop out figure of the space station. The book is probably most suitable for 4 years and up.
My 5 year old son loves this range of books
My 5 year old son loves this range of books; he obviously can't read them all himself yet, but he loves reading through it with me and opening all the flaps!
Brilliant.
Bought for friends 8 year old who was getting a telescope for xmas. have been told she absolutely loves it. On looking at it myself i think it woul;d be ideal to assist with school project or useful gift. Detailled anought to grab attention and not too grown up to make it boring.
A fantastic colourful book perfect for children of all ages

Fantastic book! So much information and easy to read, good use of age appropriate language. My daughter has looked at this so many times and still enjoys learning from it. Great book. We've bought several from this series now.
see Inside Space
This is a great book for children to learn from and in a way that does not seem like learning. It holds their interest throughout. I bought it for my 8 year old Grand nephew, who thinks it is 'Ace' (which I believe means 'good'or 'great'). He now wants the whole set.
Great book!
Fantastic book. My little man (4 1/2) love it. He loves to lift the flaps while I read it them and he is now really quite knowledgable about space, especially the solar system.
Five Stars
Kids loved it, lots of fun and a great way to learn and play at the same time.

Another Great Usborne Book
I brought this for my six year old son and it has fast become one of his favourites. He loves all things space related and this has enhanced that interest further.
Not enough pop-ups but loved by a three year old
Very much loved by my friend's little boy who is a huge fan of anything to do with space and has asked for it to be read to him numerous times since his birthday two weeks ago. A good buy and very resanably priced.
fun as well with flaps
Interesting book, fun as well with flaps. It is as others have said, a little on the "busy" side but it seems packed with information.
A space must!
A super book. Great for little ones who are interested in space..
Love the 'Look Inside' series
There are flaps within flaps! I love this book, it gives clear and simple explanations with great pictures and enough flaps to keep my 3 year old engaged. Planning to buy lots more books from this series.

Colourful children's book
This is a lovely book, but I found the graphics too "busy" and difficult to pick out the information. However, each to their own and maybe you will find it good. I bought it for my 6 year old nephew and although he did look at it, I'm not so sure he has done since I gave it to him.
Great for children interesting in learning about space
Great for children interesting in learning about space. They learn without realising it as it is so much fun!

grandson
Bought as a present for my 8 year old grandson who is very interested in space. He loved the book - and uses it at school.
Distracted by the flaps
My children were distracted by the flaps. They race through the book lifting the flaps and didn't process any information. In my opinion there is too much info on each page and ghe kids get a little overwhelmed. The illustrations are fantastic.
