Great condition and message.

Ten out of ten recommend.

Great book!

Great book to teach young kids that their voice matters.

Say Yes to this book!

This is an excellent book. It’s the perfect length, the pictures are bright and eye-catching and the message is on point. My toddler son enjoys reading it and I believe the message is sinking in for him. The people in the book are diverse which is important. A great book to inspire children to use their voice for good!

Great book!

I bought a copy of this book to have in my classroom, to share with students and show them that there are multiple ways for people to speak up and use their voices to change the world. My only issue is that I wish the book included someone who uses American Sign Language to show how people can use their hands to speak up when they don't have a voice.

Perfect for kids and adults

I'm not sure who liked it more, myself or my kids. It was perfect for their level (6 and younger), but would be great for older kids as well. It puts what could be a difficult conversation to have into a simplistic form that encourages kids to, speak up, about injustices that they may see. Could not recommend this more.

Moving

Loved it... our principal read it at an assembly, I bought it the same day. I plan to read it to my Great Grandchildren.

A "must-read" for grade schoolers!

My grade-school aged grand nieces and neph-boo's really enjoyed this book!! It was so meaningful and so timely (the George Floyd protesting is currently going on). The author made it very clear to children how important it is to share your thoughts in an effort to reach an understanding. The message has been received!

Simplicity with a strong message!

I like Peter's writing. A great book does not need a lot of pages nor a slew of words. Sometimes we can say what we want to say in 3 or 4 simple words, and we get the message clearly. Children need simple words, meaningful words, words they can use and say. Say Something is that book. Great read-aloud for parents and children at bedtime! Let me say something, Peter...Keep Writing...we'll Keep Reading!

Good book

Nice message for the readers.

This is a great book for any classroom! We all have a voice, but we can show it in different ways!

This is a great book! As an ELL teacher, I work with students whom are often shy and scared to express themselves orally! This book shows us that we can say something with our art, or our dance or our drawings. We can say something with a whisper! We can say something by helping others and being kind. Loved the illustrations as well!

Empowering

My daughter loved this book. She's fairly introverted and has difficulty expressing herself out loud. She was encouraged by the different ways in which her voice matters. She especially like the part where it said your voice didn't have to be loud, as this fits her personality. Just because you're not loud, doesn't mean you don't have something to say. The artwork was beautiful as well. She's looking forward to filling in the empty speech bubbles on the last page.

Great book for a little activist

My 4 year old is always excited to get new books. I loved reading this one to her, especially with everything going on right now. It encourages standing up for others and speaking up with your word and actions.

Great book for kids

This is a great book that, among other things, teaches inclusivity in a kid friendly way. It also leaves plenty of space for the reader to add on to the theme. Our three year old enjoys this book.

The power of your words!

I fell in love with this book. Immediately. The power of words is so telling throughout this story! This book should be a staple in every library you g and old, home or school.

Another great book from Peter H. Reynolds!

This book lives up to the expectations I’ve come to expect from Peter H. Reynolds. The artwork is beautiful and the colors are vibrant. Just by looks this is a fantastic book. I also like the message which is inspirational in depicting the different ways people can say something, and not always require words. The message is told through poetic text that is accessible to young readers, but valuable for all readers.

A book about how everyone should treat each other!

The Arizona Episcopal Diocese used this book and similar books for a Racial Justice video class for our Sunday school children.

Great Book with a Great Message

Love this book and the author. Had a great time meeting him at my school. The book has an awesome message for children. Children need to learn to use the power of their voice to speak up against things they see wrong in the world.

A great message for kids! A must-have!

Incredibly powerful regarding multiple ways for us to say something either with our physical voice or even the arts. I’m so happy with this purchase. A must!

Great book to encourage kids to speak up for others and themselves.

I am a big Peter Reynolds fan, and this is one of my favorites for encouraging kids to speak up and be upstanders!

A beautiful book showing love and understanding. Very colorful and will hold the attention of small child.

Wonderful book.

This book is perfect for today. I tested up the first few times reading it to my daughter.

Positive message book for children

If you have a child under the age Grade 2, I highly recommend reading this positive book to them. I’m currently reading it to my 6yr old on how to treat others as well as herself. Would be perfect for teachers.

Grandchildren like it “ok”

A book is a wonderful gift!

Intersectional B.S.

The pictures in this book are aimed at flipping a perceived power imbalance between white (particularly male) children and all other groups. This is a flawed and toxic ideology. Teaching children to perceive the world this way will have disastrous consequences for our society.

Excellebt, Simple, Powerful, with One Minor Flaw

My cousin got this book, and I read it the other day. I found it to be excellent and almost everything I want to teach my son--to stand up for what he believes in, to know what he believes in, to help others, to have his eyes open to the needs of others, to respect differences, and to make a difference. This book is simple enough for my one-year old to enjoy with it's concise sentences and bright colors, and people of all types, yet complex enough to be enjoyed by 7 or 8-year olds and even adults. My one qualm is the line about thanking the universe. I believe firmly in a God, and that there is only one true God who CREATED the universe, so I don't believe in thanking the universe itself. I find these types of statements to be in direct contradiction with the type of faith I am working to share with my son. Beautiful book otherwise. Perhaps even worth getting and using that line for teaching about faith differences and highlighting what your own household believes, should it be different than the author.

Short and sweet

Short and to the point. Would have liked it to be longer. Grandson did'nt have time to get bored.

A wonderful book about using our voices to speak out!

Say Something is such a wonderful and important picture book! It's all about using your voice, speaking up, sharing your ideas, expressing yourself, and making the world a kinder and more peaceful place. This is such a great reminder to all of the importance of speaking up for ourselves and others, speaking out about injustices, and putting meaningful and kind words out into the world. Words matter! We loved the colorful backgrounds, all the thought bubbles, and the diverse illustrated individuals. This book has such a bright, positive vibe that it makes me want to share it with everyone I know and more! I also really love that this is dedicated to Emma Gonzalez; a brave young girl who used her voice to speak out about gun violence in schools. It's a must read!

Few Words. BIG Message!

Say Something is a book of few words, but with a BIG message! This colorful book is filled with adorable and endearing pictures. It encourages children to share their ideas with the world through art, music, words. It encourages kindness and peace, as well as sticking up for someone else. It encourages children to speak up if they are angry, happy, grateful, or have an idea. This wonderful book inspires children to speak their truth.

You don't have to be an activist to love this book.

Families will love all the different ways you can use your voice.

We all have something to say

It seems like such an apt book for these days. Even though the language throughout used exclamations and capitalized letter to emphasize the importance of speaking out, it was a gentle book of encouragement. The message was clear and the delivery was even clearer.

What the World Needs Now

Chefs know that the simplest but finest of ingredients make the most divine concoctions. 🕊 So does Peter Reynolds. 🕊

POWERFUL MESSAGE

I was somewhat shy as a child and teen, wistfully eyeing the "in group" I would never be a part of. I have thought back on those days so many times. I wish I had understood that the thing to do would have been to stop looking at that handful of people who comprised the "in group" and instead paid attention to all of those other "outsiders" like me, other kids (and eventually teens) who needed friendship as much as I did. What I'm trying to say is that teaching a child to use her "voice" (in whatever capacity) helps not just the people who hear the voice. It also helps the child. Using her voice can help her make the world a better place, but it can also help her to make HER world a better place. Love this book!

I'll Say Something: Such Muted Activism is Not Age Appropriate for Young Readers

Such themes are best saved for mature teenagers -- who can at least exercise some order of discretion against the mild, backhanded brainwashing at hand... The intended young audience will no doubt only take away two things: 1) that all thoughts and feelings -- regardless of merit, significance or consequence -- necessitate verbal action that command attention; and 2) that about 80% of America is either of African American or Central American heritage -- which is a hurtful slap-in-the-face to Asians and Middle Easterners who Mr. Reynolds conveniently decided to visually ignore in his book. Based on #2 alone, one must wonder if there is some order of bigotry afoot.
