A must - have

This book is so precious. It's sweet, funny, and it made me emotional. It's always great for a child to learn that we are all different and special in our own way. (A great thing for grown-ups to learn too!) I think it is a must have for your children's book collection. On the technical side: the illustrations are cute, it is easy to understand, it has a great message, and it has a kind of musicality, so it is perfect for reading aloud. (I'm low-key hoping they start making plush Rumple Buttercup toys with detachable banana peel)

Always a fan of Matthew Grey Gubler, so was super excited to see he had a children's book just out, so I picked it up for my son - it looked interesting, and it talked about carrying a positive message, so seemed like it would be a fun read. Wow. We have a million books for my son as he *loves* books, but this was one of the most heartfelt and charming books we've picked up in a very, very long time. You'll love the main character - I haven't read a book to my son in.... I don't know how long.....that I've actually wanted to cry, then jump up and cheer when it all worked out for the lovable character. This book conveys a very positive message of just being yourself and to not be ashamed of that - I think that's great for children to learn, but I think it's always something we as adults could hear every now and then as well. Art is quirky and cute - my son really liked it and thought it was funny, and the physical book itself was especially well made. You can tell this book, from the story to it's design, was really made from love. As a parent, I really couldn't say anything negative about this book, and encourage everyone who has children to get this book (and even adults too, because we all need to be reminded it's OK to be different sometimes).

Phenomenal Little Story

I had never been so excited to receive an Amazon package and I was not disappointed! What a lovely message for any age type that has ever felt out of place or just plain weird! As someone with heavy anxiety, it was a nice reminder that it’s okay to be weird - to be yourself. On the other end, great story for anyone else to be more welcoming and accepting! MGG is a gift to the world!

Such a Fun Book!

I pre-ordered this book and received it a couple of days ago. I think it’s so sweet, fun, and cute. It’s great for kids or adults! I love the drawings and I wish I had the $ to buy some art by the author. It’s his handwriting and his illustrations! He’s an actor, writer, director, artist, and now author. Great sense of humor. He has played “Dr. Spencer Reid” on the show Criminal Minds since the first episode, and he’s been in various movies. I couldn’t wait to read it, which I did in one day. Highly recommend it!!!

A brilliant and weird book about acceptance!

Hes always been one of my favorite people and this book just adds to that. It has a positive message and of course, a personal note from Matthew himself. He is weird and quirky and so well loved- as it should be!

An Engaging Read

Rumple Buttercup is an engaging story of a mythical creature’s journey from self-imposed social isolation to the realization that he is part of a community that he had failed to see because he was focused on his own perceived shortcomings. If potential readers can pry themselves loose from their smart phones, the book might introduce them to the possibility of being accepted by live people for who they really are rather than merely being “liked” by remote contacts for the online personas they have created. In addition, the uncomplicated drawings and handwritten text may make some elementary and middle schoolers think, “I could do that,” resulting in their producing their own literary works. On its website, Random House prominently identifies the author of Rumple Buttercup as an actor/director associated with a particularly violent television crime drama series, and one cannot help but wonder if the publishers weren’t satisfied with the prospect of selling the book to the fans of the program, which this reviewer admits to being (in addition to being a librarian), rather than young readers. Rumple Buttercup could have benefitted from the attention of an experienced children’s book editor to address continuity, introduce more age-appropriate vocabulary, and improve on what is a somewhat unsatisfying conclusion. For example, a better sense of the isolation Rumple Buttercup feels at the beginning of the book would give the ending more impact. Although it could have been a better book, Rumple Buttercup is a very good first effort for the author/illustrator and is recommended, especially for social media addicts of all ages and for teachers and librarians who work with young people who show an interest in writing.

Such a sweet story

As someone who grew up weird, I love having a story embracing that weirdness and learning to love it. It's a story that I plan to read to my nephew in hopes that he is never afraid to be himself growing up as well. Matthew did such an amazing job with this book, I love it.

That teaches that everybody is different in their own ways

Everyone is weird

With it's positive message and unique illustrations this book is a winner. All kids and adults experience the awful feeling that they don't belong. This is what happens to Rumple Buttercup. He is afraid to be seen because he feels he is too weird. He is lonely and only views the world from a safe place. With the help of others he learns a very valuable lesson.Children will love the illustrations and story handwritten and illustrated by the author. Hats off or should I say bananas off to Mathew Gray Gubler for making weird a good thing.

Love the book's storyline & outside cover too!

Not only is the story super adorable and perfect for all ages, but the outside is pretty amazing too! The 'Rumple Buttercup' on the front is in raised lettering which is a nice texture that I really like. The pages also feel very soft to the touch and perfect for reading to children or using in children libraries! I really love this book and recommend it to anybody looking for a cute and quirky book either for themselves or their children.

Amazing

Matthew wrote an awesome story. I love how this story tells people that even though we may be different on the outside, we are all the same on the inside. And that our outside differences makes us unique and that there isn't or will be another person like us. Great work!!!!!

We Are All Weird!

This quick read packs a big punch! The story revolves around Rumple Buttercup, who fears everyone will think he’s weird. Rumple does his best to hide his identity, but discovers the best way to live your life is by being your scaly skin 3 haired self. I read this with my daughter, taking turns each chapter, and we had a good laugh. It was a lovely moral and I hope the story makes its way into classrooms and onto library shelves. Great job, Matthew!

I'm in love

I love this book so much. I wasn't always like normal kids. And reading Rumple Buttercup made me feel that its perfectly okay not to be like normal kids. I read Rumple Buttercup to my younger siblings so they can be like Rumple.

Such a sweet book!

Well made and sturdy, nice hard cover and cute, quirky illustrations. It has 3 chapters that are fun to read one after the other each night before bed. The story is interesting and cute, explains the concept quite simply that it's okay to be different and people will love you no matter what. The concept of Rumple's house in the rain drain is also very cool and good for creative inspiration for kids. It even shows how Rumple created furniture made out of trash! Would love to try making a foot rest entirely out of bubblegum sometime, just like Rumple.

LOVED IT!

This book is so perfect for most ages. I bought it for my granddaughter's birthday, she turned 9, and she read it right away because she loved the title. She was so excited by the illustrations that she didn't put the book down (she wants to write comic books when she grows up and she loved all the drawings)! The story was just wonderful and she was engrossed from beginning to end. She said it's her new favorite book... and she reads a lot of books!! My mother, her great-grandmother read the book too, and she also loved it. It truely is for all ages. I HIGHLY recommend this book. It will be a true classic one day!

A must have

This is a must have for children and adults! I love how this book teaches one to embrace their differences because everyone is weird. I believe that at one point or another in our lives, we can all relate to feeling left out, as though we don’t belong, that our appearance is not “society’s” definition of beauty etc. With bullying being a huge problem that can affect a child’s self esteem, this book is going to be a wonderful addition. Even though I am an adult, I was so moved by the story that I actually shed a few tears.😥🥰

Funny book with an important message

I got this book because it was recommended by Amazon as one of the best new kids' books of the year so far. My seven year old really likes the book. He laughs out loud at parts. He especially loves "Candy Corn Carl." Carl is a 'friend' Rumple creates out of candy and glues to the wall so he has someone to talk to. The message of the book is important for everyone. All of us are weird, and it is important to be accepting of each other's differences. I would definitely recommend this book to others. It is a very sweet story.

An adorable book with a good message

What a wonderful book! It kept the kids' attention until the end, and they keep re-reading it. The story takes you through many emotions, and you find yourself hoping that Rumple does not end up alone. The handwritten words (instead of typing) and the illustrations are perfect for the book - cute and a bit weird. The author does a splendid job of reading the audio book. I recommend this book.

The 3 Bs Bananas 🍌, Belonging and Being yourself what a terrific tale

Of weirdly fun people, parades and playing in public trash cans?? But of course, what better way to show your individuality in a kids book than to stick your hand the trash? I love this genuine, lovely message of Dimple Buttercup. How often do we all want to hide feeling weird or left out? One of my favorite parts is the great portrait of Matthew Gray Gubler, the much loved author, actor and director in his authors portrait made at the local elementary school in picture day after a visit to the lunchroom trash can. You're the best!!

Cute light hearted and kind!

Cute light hearted book suitable for all ages...Would be good for a 2nd-5th grade child practice reading chapter books as it has 3 small chapters. Large and few words on each page ...makes it seem like a grown up book but is definitely a child’s picture book still! Provides a nice outlook on being different! My daughter is a fan of Mr.Gubler so she wanted the book even though she is 14...it was fun as she let me read it to her as if she were a small child so that was nice for me as a mom of a teenager!

Amazing, charming, positive - get this now.

I received it and started to read with my six year old son, I feel in love with a Rumple what a cutie pie my son love him also the hanging joke on Candy Corn Carl. Great job Matthew I can’t wait for your book tour to be land in Miami Florida

Quirky Little Story of Love, Kindess, Acceptance and Being Yourself

Loved this book so much. I'm a pediatric physical therapist and a mom of 4. I would highly recommend this book. It has all the feels. Sad, depressed, lonely, hopeful, accepted and loved. Its a quirky little book that makes you realize we all fit in because we all have something different about us. My teenager with HF autism read it and couldn't stop grinning. He said this is the kind of book he would write also. Thanks Matthew Gray GubLer!!! I was already a Criminal minds fangirl. Now I'm a Rumple Buttercup Fangirl also!! Ha!

Great meaning!

I love that book!!! Can't wait until my grandchildren are old enough to understand the meaning of the book. Right now they're only three, so they have a couple of years before they get it. The book is great 👍👍 I recommend it!!! Matthew, great job.

This book is my happy place

I'm 30, and have alwaaays been told I'm very "weird." I've even gone through periods of time where I've tried to "stop" being so weird. Matthew really seems to know what he's talking about, though, so this book has a well-deserved spot on my mantle. I got a little bit of taco on it almost immediately, but I don't think Rumple would judge me for it.

A delightful book for young and old!

Every word of this imaginative and charming book was drawn/penned by Michael Gray Gruber. I adore his character on Criminal Minds and am amazed at the spectrum of his endless talents: art, imagination, acting, directing etc. So had to buy this book as soon as it came out. Will probably buy another as a gift since even though I am an 88 year old lady, cannot bear to part with this one!

and now I'm an even bigger fan...

Originally, I only bought this book for my son because I'm a huge fan of the author. Now I have another reason to adore Matthew Gray Gubler. This book is absolutely precious. It's silly with a great message. My son loves it. I recommend it for all ages. We are currently doing an elementary reading fair project on it, and I hope that helps people discover this wonderful book.

Great message!

I preordered this book for my 14 year old daughter because she loves the actor who wrote it but I had no idea how great the story would be! I read the entire thing right away, to both of my kids and we laughed and got a little emotional. It is such a great story about fitting in and being ok with being different. I am giving my son’s teacher a copy to have in her classroom, I love it so much!

My teenage daughters guide of life

I had no.idea this book even existed until my daughter asked for this book to add to her library. This book means so much to her she cries when she summarizes what she's read. This book is very well written with animations drawn by Matthew himself. I think this should be a staple read for every child growing up in today's ever changing world.

Very touching book - must have specially for today's challenging times.

We're all different and we're all special in all our original unique ways; and Matthew captures that like only he can, in his awkward but very sweet, touching , heart-warming way. I don't usually give books for presents. But after buying one for my daughter and finished reading it. I'm buying a couple more for my nephew and niece. Definitely a must have.

Important subject, not-so-clever story

Ehhh, it's okay, but not nearly as clever or charming as led to believe. I totally agree the subject matter is important. But if this had been submitted anonymously to a major publisher, it wouldn't have been given a second look. Sorry MGG, but your fame got you published. I think the illustrations were better than the text.

Love, love, love

I love Matthew Grey Gubler so I had to have his book! I pre ordered it, waited very impatiently, and was throughly blown away when it came! It only made me love Matthew even more. It’s heart warming, and adorable, and I definitely recommend getting it to leave out on your coffee table so that others can pick it up and read through when they come by!

Amazing Read Aloud

Such an amazing book about differences, acceptance, and how we're all a little weird if we look close enough! Read this book with my first graders and they were immediately hooked. They saw it from such a deep level and understood why Rumple was hiding and how he was feeling. Were able to think about both Rumple and the people above ground and what they might think if they saw him. Taught them the beautiful lesson that everyone's weird and different and that's what makes us so amazing. They were able to understand this lesson and wanted to talk about it because they really understood what Matthew Gray Gubler was trying to get across. Is officially in my Read Aloud line up!! Beautiful illustrations, writing, and message. All around an amazing book for all ages!

Why's he so cute??

Awww, he's so cute! Why is he so cute??? :) That's what my 12 year old Granddaughter said when I gave her the book! My Granddaughter is unique, beautiful and cool and this is a loving message for her and a nice message for Grandma as well as I have always felt on the weird side and not like I quite fit in. Love the illustrations, and the book just has a lovely "feel" to it as well. Thank you for these ripples Matthew!

Buy it, you won't regret it!

This book is amazing. It is great for adults to read and children. I read it to my reading groups at the school I work at and they really enjoyed it. So happy a story like this was written so I can share it with kids. Hopefully it will make them realize that we truly are all weird!

Really Good

We received this in our Prime Book Box subscription for this month. At first, I wasn't sure my son would like it, but he really does. Great feel good story. The font is a bit difficult to read at the end of a long day, but my son keeps asking for it for his bedtime story, so I am getting used to it.

Loving people.

I am very impressed with this book! I bought the book for our grandchildren and great grandchildren, aged newborn to 12 years old. Our family includes a "bonus" grandson and foster granddaughter and sometimes at first they can worry about their place. This book helps point out the differences that most people and families have and we still love them and want them in our lives.

Best Book Ever

Greatest book I have read in a long time! Super sweet story about learning to love and accepting yourself and others. I use it in lots of life lessons that are great for kids and adults alike. Matthew greatly captures all the ups and downs of self image in a beautifully illustrated way. The audio book is read by Matthew as well and it’s really fun to have kids listen along with. All in all 100/10 and would definitely by this book over and over again with zero hesitation.

It feels nice to touch and is a great story. It will make you cry though.

Oh. My, Gosh. I cried twice. 1.) during the first chapter. 2.) the ending. I just want to give rumple a big ol hug. Best character I’ve ever seen besides candy corn Carl. Now let’s talk about the book itself baby’s! It’s so clean and beautiful, I also only payed 8 dollars for a hard cover?! Matthew is too good for us. Plus feel that bumpy texture of the lettering on the cover. It’s so satisfying to feel. PLUS! That back page photo is adorable but so is everything about this book. It’s so cute rumple deserves love and his jokes are tubular. Get this book. Just do it.

A story that will make you laugh, cry and fill your heart with joy.

I am so thrilled that children will have this positive, wonderful message from adorable Rumple Buttercup about belonging, acceptance and loving one's self just as you are. Beautifully written and illustrated, it gets right to the heart of the matter: self-esteem and accepting your uniqueness. I had tears in my eyes by the end of the story, and joy that Rumple has so many friends. This book is truly a delight.

This is adorable!

We are huge Matthew Gray Gubler fans and I was surprised he was also an author. This is an adorable book. The story is really cute and the illustrations are simple, but so well done and make the story just that much more. I’ll be buying this book for all my nieces and nephews.

Great Actor But...

Matthew Gray Gubler absolutely has a "fall back" should "Criminal Minds" come to a close. This book is an absolute must for early readers and even more so for adult readers. Genuine, unforced childlike wonder come through beautifully in this tale of differences and acceptance. Would be 10 stars if that was an option. Excellent gift for new readers.

I’m impressed.

My 7 year old is a reluctant reader. This book came in the mail today and he read the entire book (without even being asked to read it) in about 20 minutes. It’s an easy read with more pictures than words on each page but it’s still technically a chapter book. He thought it was hilarious. I’m impressed.

Love!

I absolutely adore this book. I purchased it to read to my children in my daycare facility. I read it first on my own to make sure it was appropriate throughout the book and ended up getting pretty emotional reading it myself! It was sad, happy, heroic, and so much more!

Didn't think it was possible for me to love MGG any more than I already do... BUT HERE WE ARE

I haven’t read a picture book in a very long time, but I had to check this one out. I’ve been a massive Criminal Minds fan since I was around 12 or 13-years-old and I love pretty much everything that Matthew Gray Gubler does. A picture book about a weird little monster learning to accept himself and make friends seemed right on-brand for him. Regardless of if you’re a kid, a parent, or anybody else, this story carries the perfect message for any age group. Sometimes we forget that everyone else is just as weird as we are.

BEST BOOK EVER <3 U MGG

THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD. Many people said that this book would not get as much recognition if the author MGG wasn’t a popular actor but I think it’s a book worth being shared. Many teenagers (like me) bought this book because we are fans of MGG but I believe it would be perfectly fine if they showed it to their younger sibling for example. I certainly do plan on showing my child of the future this book because the message is actually really good. THANK YOU MGG IM A BIG FAN <3

Definitely A Masterpiece

I may be a little biased because I LOVE Matthew Gray Gubler but this book was outstanding! Im going to school to be a high school english teacher and this is a book I could totally use with freshman their first day of high school. I was impressed by the size of the book and the quality for sure. Its a truly amazing story that everyone can enjoy.

Great great GRRRREAT book

Awesome book for kids and adults that love Matt! The illustrations were so original and cute. I love this book! Long enough to make it a sturdy solid book and short enough for bed time stories. Very interesting and great life lessons. I will cherish this book forever and pass along to my children.

Love it

Matthew Gray Gubler adds his own brand of quirkiness to everything he does. I've always loved his drawings and had always hoped he would create drawings that I could actually own, and then he did! The book had a great message and the same distinctive character drawings I've always loved.

Adorable!

Hahaha, if you’re a MGG fan, then you’re definitely gonna love this. It’s cute and has an amazing message. If you’re getting this to read to your child, I definitely recommend so! It’s so cute, and once again the message is amazing! The pictures are adorable and it’s very durable. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

Gift for my sister

She loves Matthew's work in Criminal Minds, so she practically begged me to buy it for her as a graduation gift. It's been a hard year for her, and the added fact that COVID-19 took away her Senior year. I bought it the night she mentioned it to me and had it shipped to her as soon as possible. The day she got it, she finished it. It's been one of the books she returns to every night to remind herself it's going to be okay. I'm happy it gives her some form of solace in such a difficult time growing up. 5/5 stars for sentiment and overall heartwarming book.

Already loved MGG, love him more after reading Rumple

If you don’t already love MGG, you will after reading this book. We loved him already as Spencer Reid, even chose Reid as the middle name for our son, so buying this book was a no brainer. The book was so sweet and one I know my 2 year old will love hearing again and again as he grows up. Thank you MGG for sharing your talent and heart! ❤️

Amazing, charming, positive - get this now.

I received it and started to read with my six year old son, I feel in love with a Rumple what a cutie pie my son love him also the hanging joke on Candy Corn Carl. Great job Matthew I can’t wait for your book tour to be land in Miami Florida

Such a good book

I bought this book because it’s a story of belonging and being yourself(which at this time I kind of really need) it’s a really good book!!! Although I already finished it in less than an hour I’m gonna keep reading it over and over again and I’m a try to keep it in its best condition so I can read it to my niece and nephew and maybe my kids. I love the part where it says about the author in the back as well it was very cute!! I’m not gonna lie I kind of want a rumple butter cup stuffed animal!! Thank you Mr.Gubler for writing and illustrating such a good book and for making a message that helps everybody who needs it

adorable and amazing book

i bought this book after watching criminal minds. i went a little crazy and started buying everything associated with the actors and the show. when i found out matthew had written a book, i knew i had to get it. even though i’m not the target audience, this book was amazing. it shows how you can be different from everyone but that doesn’t have to stop you. the cover is super smooth and the title is bumpy which is so cute. adorable book for all ages to read!

Cute and sends a good message

My son saw the cover and said, "What's wrong with that guy? Ew, he looks kind of gross." Then we read the book and it didn't take long before he felt pretty bad about how he had initially reacted. Ashamed even. Lesson learned :) Besides that it's a really cute story and the illustrations are unique and fun. Great book for everyone to read!

Good story ♥️

Live this book. My sons think it's fun and funny and they were rooting for Rumple to be comfortable with himself around people. My oldest finished it and said, "He's right, everyone's got something different." Embrace your weird. ♥️

A sweet story and book to remind everybody we are all different..

A very cute book to help kids realize not everyone is like. I bought two copies one for myself and one for my nephew who is trying to adjust to life after high school. He has a lot of respect for the office which is just as meaningful.

Funny and Heart Warming Tale

I have the Kindle version of Rumple Buttercup and purchased it to read to my grandchildren. My four-and-a-half year-old grandson was engaged and appreciated the humor in the story. It's really quite clever. One can feel empathetic to Rumple Buttercup and celebrate with him in the end.

Super sweet! Love it!!

This book is so sweet. I won't lie... I only bought it because it was written by Matthew Gray Gubler. I was so excited for it to arrive! Read it to the kids with the shipping packaging on my lap still. We love it! I look forward to any additional books he decides to write!

My daughter loves this book

This book is a really sweet story with kooky and adorable illustrations. I'd say it's about a 4th-grade reading level. My daughter read it no problem and she's 8, however, she's reading well above the rest of her peers.

Our favorite bedtime story

Everything about this book is wonderful. It has a great story with a heartwarming message and the illustrations are creative and fun. You can tell a lot of thought and hard work was put into this masterpiece.

Easy to read for children

Easy to read for children ; illustrations were childlike as well, so children could relate well. It’s not that I disliked anything, but if other differences were mentioned like a person in a wheelchair or someone with an accent, blind, a hearing loss etc..could have been added to gain a wider audience of differences in people. Other than that, it was very cute 👍🏼

It came! It came! Juju and I are big book fans and if you’re looking for a great children’s book, then I highly recommend Rumple Buttercup by Matthew Gray Gubler. It’s an adorable story with a wonderful message. The lettering is raised on the cover and spine of the book (we love all things tactile!) and the illustrations are playful and heartwarming!!! 👍👍👍 Barbie T., South Carolina

Book em

Love this story book. The author is one of my all time favorite actors. And a very chill , down to earth person with out of this box world ideas! Start a new family story night tale to the pile. Not just for the youngins

BUY THIS BOOK

I'm in love with this book it is super cute, im 15 so at first i thought it was VERY childish to buy but im a huge Matthew Gray Gubler fan so I decided I should give it a buy and I love it!! It's so amazing and has a beautiful message and the book was in perfect condition, i also got it sooner than expected!

Perfect

One of my daughter's favorites. It looks a whole lot longer than it is, which is perfect for my 4 year old because she's always wanting me to read her my novels. Has the look of a chapter book that she wants, but still has pictures and simple context she understands. This is the ideal book for curious little ones who aren't able to read complicated words or pay attention but want to be like grown ups reading bigger books.

Charming and fun!

My 5 year old granddaughter loves this book. It's the first one she chooses when we read. She already remembers the 4 things Rumple thinks are wrong with him! She'll be reading it herself before long. What a delightful story

Terrific find.

Terrific FindThis is an amazing book... I plan to read it together with my 10 year old granddaughter. My husband thought she might think that it’s for a younger child but no... this book is a work to share and be touched by it... no matter what age. I am so please. You’re a good author Matt.

You rock !!

First time my grandchild sat next to me and was very interested in story! Pretty funny she drew one of the characters for a father’s day card for her daddy!! It’s nice to see such a teaching impact from Mr Gubler’s story !

Perfect in Everyway

This was the most adorable and heartfelt story and everyone needs to buy it--not just if you have kids. It is a story for all to love and empathize with. I was so excited to see that the book had finally arrived at my door and it was everything I was hoping for and more. Thank you Matthew Grey Gubler for sharing your heart! I will be a loyal buyer of anything you make from now until always.

Great gift!

I bought this as a gift for my friend who loves the author. She was thrilled when she got the book and she read it immediately. She keeps it on her bed side table and reads it all the time.

Heartwarming and Fun

I've kind of become the designated babysitter amongst my friends and family since I don't have kids yet. I wanted something to bring with me that I could get the kids invested in. This book is perfect for that, it's an important message being told through a wacky world they haven't really seen before. It's such a fun story to act out with them (especially when we create real life Candy Corn Carls with candy). It was also an enjoyable book for me to read, as it's a fun heartwarming story that I was able to connect with! :)

Delightful!

This is a delightful tale from the weird and wonderful Matthew Gray Gubler, and it is everything I’d hoped it would be. From his signature style drawings to the handwritten text, absolutely every bit of it is adorable, charming, and just slightly off kilter.

136 Pages?!?

When I saw this book was for ages 4 and up, I didn't think to look at the number of pages. There aren't many words on each page, but the first grader I bought this for us going to be overwhelmed :(

Amazing

my daughter bought this for herself fro christmas and shes in love. shes read it like 50 times!!. my daughter is in love with matthew gray gubler so she was so happy when it arrived and was in PERFECT condition she bought it new but didnt know what it would look like " I love it so much, and i wish one day i can meet him" a quote from my daughter rn lmao. Overall 100% would recommend

A perfect story for all ages

I got this as a gift for my sister-in-law who had been wanting this book for some time. She was so excited! It is such a sweet story about belonging and self worth.

We are distinct and yet similar in so many ways.

I have given this book to 11 adults so far and have asked them to tell me what their experience was in reading the book. Everyone who I have given the book to has had a wonderful reaction and either gained insights or reaffirmed feelings and emotions they have had throughout their lives. The other realization that I think everyone had was that you don’t need to read a self help book to get in touch with your emotions or motivation. Thank you for a wonderful book. Eileen

Rumple Buttercup!

Such a cute book. I love it. Got it for my neice because she is in love with Matthew G. Gubler. Book was a very good red great drawings and easy to read. Loved it.

Grandson gives this book A+

I questioned my grandson (8) about this book I gave him for Christmas - he told me he likes it and has already read it twice. He also said he would recommend it to his friends.

Don’t hesitate. Buy this book!!!!

I don’t know where to start with this book other than, it’s the best!!! It makes me so happy. So happy that sometimes when I read it I cry happy tears. It’s a great story about a great guy finding friends. MGG thank you for writing and illustrating this book for us. It’s beautiful, one of my favorites, and one of my favorite gifts to give. The world needs more Rumple!!! Perma smile coming your way!

Absolutely precious story and characters

My children ages 10-21 LOVE this book. Rumple buttercup is a character that grabs your heart and your imagination. Clever, poignant, funny, and sweet, this is a great story about vulnerability and friendship. A great gift for any kid, any age. Even my older teens live this!!!!

I love you Matthew Gray Gubler

This book is TOO CUTE. We read it Christmas morning -- or rather, downloaded an audio of Matthew Gray Gubler reading it and read along. Excited to have a unique and sweet book to read my future children :)

I received it and started to read with my six year old son, I feel in love with a Rumple what a cutie pie my son love him also the hanging joke on Candy Corn Carl. Great job Matthew I can’t wait for your book tour to be land in Miami Florida

We are all weird!

This is a heart warming, love yourself just the way you are, everybody has their own uniqueness kind of feel good book! I bought this book for someone who suffers from clinical and social anxiety and they loved it. Besides, the author is someone we both admire!

I love it!

I bought it because i love Matthew Gray Gubler but i genuinely enjoyed the book. Its sweet and wholesome and i hope to share it with my niece . 10/10

Beautiful story no matter your age

This is the sweetest story with a message for kids and grownups alike. You're weird, but so is everyone else. You're loveable exactly the way you are.

Great Story

Great story. Awesome artwork. Unique. A great lesson on being yourself. My first graders LOVE this story. I'm sure it didn't hurt that I read it with a banana peel on my head.

Great quality, Wonderful Literature

Fantastic book with high quality publishing. The story line is beautifully written and the drawings are in a refreshingly unique art style that I am obsessed with. The simplicity is refined and overall this is a great product. honestly I just bought this for my best friend because she's obsessed with mgg so im giving her the book along with other mgg related things on mgg's bday (march 9th) but i actutally did enjoy the book and recommend buying it!!!

Rumple Buttercup

Super Great Book

Super great book. My 3year old niece loved it. Said Rumple is a silly head and brought it to school for the teacher to read to all of the other kids.

A Delightful Read!!

Loving the author’s character on “Criminal Minds”, I was delighted to find this book!!! It’s an excellent choice for children who may feel as though they don’t “fit in”. The illustrations were simple and adorable, too!!

Great story

Loved the book. I originally bought it for my VPK class, but when I got i I quickly realized how many pegs it was. So I gave it to my 9 year old daughter. She loved it and it made her feel good about being unique.

Adorable, and funny, and gives a great message!

I was so excited to get this book! It was shipped fast, and is such a cute book. The pictures are very funny. I love this book, if you have a sense of humor of any kind, I recommend this book!

Amazing, charming, positive - get this now.

A Cute Book

This is a sweet little children's book about how it's ok to be weird. It's cute and happy. I think a lot of kids would find it funny and relatable. Added bonus: it's written and illustrated by the weird Criminal Minds actor, Matthew Gray Gubler.

Sweet Story of Acceptance

I got nervous with how big the book was, but the simple illustrations and little amount of words on each page helped keep my 5 year old's attention. The message is sweet and of acceptance. The book quickly became a family favorite.

Beautiful story!

A beautiful children’s book, equally appropriate for adults! It’s okay to be “weird”….each of us is in our own way. Love Matthew Gray Gubler’s first book and look forward to more!

Love it!

My kids loved this story and I did too. The lesson is one everyone can benefit from and I’m a huge fan of the author. I hope he writes more.

A Book for ANYONE (AGES 0-100+) who has EVER felt a little....different..

A beautifully unique book by a wonderful eccentric artist, actor and now, author. This book follows Rumble Buttercup through his journey of self-discovery that life, well people, are a veritable smorgasbords of idiosyncratic living beings! The perfect book for anyone who has ever felt a little different.

So wondeful!

I love this little book. Matthew Gray Gubler did a fantastic job writing this book. Not the longest read for older/advanced readers, but by far a good one! My 8 year old sister loves reading it!

My favorite book

Amazing! I love this book so much it has a great message and the illustrations are amazing! It's a cute fun and meaning full book! Mattew gray gubler is a great man!

Awsome story

Awsome story! I purchased two copies for my grandchildren as I want them to know that everyone is important and unique, we all matter! Great job Matthew!

Wonderful message

Loved this delightful little book! So sweet with such a great message for everyone and the illustrations give me a nostalgic feel!

Great read

A friend recommended thus book. It’s like a child’s book, but adults can learn from it too. Also I lave the authors acting in Criminal Minds!

Excellent!

Loved the book so much we ordered everyone we know a copy. Highly recommended.

Unique and Touching

An adorable and unique story about loneliness, insecurity, the longing to feel included and the importance of each person's individuality.

Rumpled Buttercup

Very nice book for kids who feel like they don't quite belong, but if they just gave the world out there a chance, wonderful surprises could be in store for them.

Lovely story

The most delightful little story of a little monster who thought he was alone and weird but came to realize that his loneliness. And posed and his weirdness was not so weird. Completely endearing and perfect in every way.

New Favorite Children's Book

I love this book and so did my nephew. It's definitely one of my new favorite children's books. I strongly recommend to anyone looking for a new read for their little one. It's a great story about acceptance. The illustrations remind me a bit of Shel Silverstein. I can't wait to see what else Matthew Gray Gubler comes out with.❤

About self confidence and friendship

A cute, kid friendly story about a little monster who learns that we are all unique in our own special way. Good for self confidence and finding friendships all around you.

Love this Book!

Bought this book for my seven year old grandson who is just beginning to read. He loves this book! So, do I.

Great books for kids and parents will enjoy too

My son loved this book. It’s really a sweet story and easy to read. The illustrations were great.

Cute story

It's unique and inclusive. Such a great read for kiddos. I really loved the main character . What a great library addition

a wonderful story

This is a great book about self esteem. A cute story that is fun to read to my granddaughters.

Great Gift for School Counselor

Such a great book. I gifted my copy to our school counselor so she could share it with students who can relate with Rumple Buttercup.

Something for kids and the adults who read it with them

I used this in therapy with my kiddo patients. They read it out loud and we discussed what was happening the whole way through. At the finish, we reviewed to see what they understood to have happened & what it meant to them. Everyone LOVED this book & its quirky illustrations.

Rumple Buttercup

Like this book and the characters and the feel of the book. It has a good story behind it.

I received it and started to read with my six year old son, I feel in love with a Rumple what a cutie pie my son love him also the hanging joke on Candy Corn Carl. Great job Matthew I can’t wait for your book tour to be land in Miami Florida

A great read for kids and adults to remind them that everyone is weird in their own way.

This book is sweet and a bit weird and a bit whimsical. I thoroughly enjoyed it as did my children!

Its Matthew Gray Gubler obviously the book is amazing!

I am a huge MGG fan so when i saw he had written a book I HAD to have it! Once i finally got it i couldn't stop reading and looking at the artwork that our very own MGG drew. Its a great gift for a MGG lover like myself!

Amazing story

Most perfect book ever written! Matthew Gray Gubler is definitely the most amazing author and illustrator ever. The perfect story for all ages.

Sweet book. Great quality.

This book is so sweet. I love Matthew Gray Gubler’s work, and this book is no exception. The art is quirky, the message is great. The physical book is also of great quality - much better than I expected. I don’t even have kids, but wanted this book anyway. I’m glad I bought it(:

A story for everyone

Rumple Buttercup is weird. His is a story about acceptance and self esteem. Only it doesn't feel force like other books for children. Cant wait to read this to my class in the fall.

Cute and simple

Cute story with a good message. But nothing too unique or unusual for a kids book. I was expecting more. I'm not sure if it would've gotten as much publicity if the author hadn't been a famous actor.

Kindergarten grandson loves this book.

This is a wonderful story. Gave it to my kindergarten grandson and he loves it. Can read it himself. Illustrations are so adorable. I hope the author writes more books!

Hat a fabulous book! Thanks Matthew

I really love this book! My nephews are getting bullied and this is the perfect book for them to read on how to just be theirselves, perfect

Awesome book

Matthew is a very multi talented person....love love loved him on criminal minds... and love love love his book...thank you for sharing your talents...meet grandkids and I adored this book...keep them coming!

My nephew loved it

I bought this for my 10 year old nephew's birthday present and according to my sister, he loved it.

Amazing, charming, positive - get this now.

Love this book

During Covid quarantine I wanted to buy meaningful purchases and this definitely was a great purchase. I know it's a children's book but even adults need a reminder that it's ok to be different. I even bought an extra for a friend

Cute, important story about being different.

Bought this as a gift for my sisters birthday. We both enjoyed this cute story, it’s about being different and albeit, sad but it’s an important, cute story that I think applies to everyone, of all ages.

This is awesome!

I absolutely love everything about this book. Everything. I ended buying one for both my daughters and my daughter-in-law.

We all need to feel loved uncondtionally

Great book for everyone at any age, we all need people in our lives who accept and love us just as we are and do not judge us for being ourselves. Amazing book, would highly recommend.

How Wonderful

I love this author. It really was a sweet meaningful book for kids but adults like it too.I relate to the art! A winner....

awesome book for kids

We liked it so much that we've sent it to a few of our friends and bought 6 more to have here to give out when friends with children or grandchildren visit. Loved by all the kids we've sent this book to. Great Job Matthew!

Such a cute book

Highly recommend this book! Such a cute story and a great message! Love everyone!!!!

We love Rumple

Excellent story! It can relate to all ages and has a heartwarming ending. I hope he writes more books!

Engaging story for a 4 yr old almost reader

Charming tale, humor is perfect for kids, language and message very appropriate.

Fun Book

Love the message and the original drawings are wonderful. Great book for children and my great-niece & great-nephew loved it. My niece loved it because it is written by Matthew Gray Gubler. Everyone is happy.

Fun for all

I bought this for work as a daycare teacher. The kids absolutely love this book, and ask for it constantly. They get so excited at their favorite parts especially whenever Candy Corn Carol makes an appearance. Seriously, they lose their minds over Carol it’s hysterical. It’s a fun read as an adult as well as for children, definitely recommend.

Love, love, love!

An absolutely must for you and your children's library! Matthew Gray Gubler is the best in his role as the quirky, brilliant mind of Dr. Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds. He has done a wonderful job bringing out the uniqueness of every single individual in his first book. Hope he continues :)

This was a lovely book. I read the book to my kids and they loved Rumple buttercup. Such a great story.

Rumple it’s the Best!

I bought this book as a present for my 16th year old daughter that absolutely love the artist in how he described Rumple Buttercup.

Fantastic Message!

Fantastic Book! Wonderful message!

So cute

I love this book, the illustration make you smile. The words and meanings behind them make you honestly feel loved and seen. Gubler did an overall marvelous job putting this book together!

We’re All a Little Rumple

Rumple Buttercup jumbles your feelings and makes your heart pound because it can’t decide which way it’s going. If you’ve ever felt scared, and lonely, and not sure how to reach out; even though you REALLY want to... you’re a Rumple. Welcome to the world and enjoy!

Adorable

I purchased this book because I love the author (who is an actor in my favorite tv show). I read it to my two young nieces and we all loved it. It was so adorable and they immediately wanted me to read it again!

Mr. Gubler you genius of a man

This story was tasteful and well-crafted with subtle hints of orange and eucalyptus. Vibrant notes of reflection and self-appreciation. The best cure to for a love-sick, MGG fanatic, failing college student. Thank you for inspiring me on my journey of self-love and look exceptionally delicious doing so. Thank you.

Great Book!

Beautiful book!!! Great lesson.

Amazing!

Lovely book, lovely story, lovely author

A must - have

This book is so precious. It's sweet, funny, and it made me emotional. It's always great for a child to learn that we are all different and special in our own way. (A great thing for grown-ups to learn too!) I think it is a must have for your children's book collection. On the technical side: the illustrations are cute, it is easy to understand, it has a great message, and it has a kind of musicality, so it is perfect for reading aloud. (I'm low-key hoping they start making plush Rumple Buttercup toys with detachable banana peel)

Amazing, charming, positive - get this now.

I received it and started to read with my six year old son, I feel in love with a Rumple what a cutie pie my son love him also the hanging joke on Candy Corn Carl. Great job Matthew I can’t wait for your book tour to be land in Miami Florida

I received it and started to read with my six year old son, I feel in love with a Rumple what a cutie pie my son love him also the hanging joke on Candy Corn Carl. Great job Matthew I can’t wait for your book tour to be land in Miami Florida

A magical way to learn an important lesson!

A children's book? No, this is an everyone book! A lesson of kindness and acceptance that we all need to learn! I actually got choked up reading this with my kids. I love this book!

So good for young readers.

Bought for my grand daughter who is in the first grade. She is an avid reader and loved it. So much in fact, she has read several times since.

Rumple Buttercup is a very cute book about self acceptance

Very cute book about overcoming insecurities of being different from everyone else and learning to accept yourself for the fabulous creature that you are (even if you’re shy and green and wear a banana peel on your head as a security blanket) 🙂 My son read it to me at bedtime and enjoyed it as well.

Great book

Purchased for two teens. They love it.
