Rubank Advanced Method: Saxophone, Vol. 2 (Rubank Educational Library, No....
This is the book I learned on over 40 years ago. I recently found Vol 1 among my old sheet music, but Vol 2 was missing, so I ordered it. I start my daily practice by going through the scales and exercises in these books. These books are still valid. I have my student on the beginning book of this series.
functional
I would prefer the lessons be grouped together. The scale studies, articulation exercizes and melodic interpretation studies are in different areas so you need to jump around, but it is a minor inconvenience. Many of the excersizes have no brakes were a breath can be taken. As one instructor suggested, cheat, leave a note out and get a breath.
Four Stars
recommend it for all music students
Five Stars
Thank you, no issues, arrived on time, what I've ordered
Great book!!
Grandson LOVES it!!
Worked great
Worked well for my daughter's saxophone
Sets you up for success
I went into college music school not being a good reader. But my professor made me study out of the rubank books and wow after a year my rythms got so much better from this book. It puts all rhythms that you would see in music in these little etudes and really narrows it down for you. Such a helpful book, i will use it with my students one day. I recommend for any advanced sax player who needs a better foundation of reading
Great learning method, good value too!
Love the Rubank method! Very straight forward, nothing ambiguous about this method! Well priced too!

Great for young musicians
Great if you’re taking lessons or want to improve you playing ability. Some of the solos in the back are also good for Solo and Ensemble!

Enthusiast
Using this to get back into playing again after a 5 year break. It's an excellent tool for those looking to start playing again and familiarize themselves with different styles of playing.

Our grandson has finished vol. one of this book and is now doing this one. He takes lessons from a Professor at the University Of Evansville, and he highly recommends this book.
