We don't buy books for my bilingual 2 -year-old anymore. After a week of having the books, reading them to death, he doesn't want to pick-up that book ever again. There is one exception, however, and this is it. Since he was 15 months old he has been slipping through the pages with the same regular constant eagerness as the first time he saw it; over and over again. Retired in Mexico; this Scarry’s book is BRILLIANT for very young friends, who have NEVER OWNED A BOOK! Every bit of this book is acjewel!

I grew up with the German version of this, and recently purchased the Spanish/English version for a friends' young son. It was so wonderful to see him leafing through the pages enjoying the detailed illustrations every bit as much as I did at that age. Some of the pictures and words are delightfully dated by now, but the scenes invite you in to a discussion or story that you and your child create together.

I grew up with Richard Scarry books and always give them as baby shower gifts. It never fails (not once), the parents will always mention a few years later that the Richard Scarry book is their kid's favorite book. We recently stumbled onto this one (I'm American and my husband is from Mexico). We love it and have started giving this one whenever we have a little one around. I've also recommended to a few friends and co workers and they also sing this book's praises (especially my college roommate who is a speech pathologist/ special ed teacher). There are so many pictures on each page and the words in both English and Spanish are great. Kids are captivated!! It's really a book that kids can grow into!

Just like the English version but gives Spanish as well. Very helpful in learning some Spanish (nouns in particular) for adults or children.

This is the ABSOLUTELY BEST book for children. Begin reading to them, in your lap, when they are DAYS old. Make up stories about the pictures, etc. This is my GO-TO BABY PRESENT. We loved the one we received as a gift, years ago. It was our unquestionably favorite.

A favorite book of my 16 month bi-lingual grandson, and a good way to learn Spanish or English words often used by youngsters. The Richard Scarry illustrations are beloved by kids, and I liked the little story on each page to introduce it. Overall, however, I prefer "My 1st Spanish Word Book" for its more logical organization and for its Spanish and English indexes at the back that let it be used as a dictionary. I'm glad to have both books.

Wonderful book for teaching myself and my young grand daughter Spanish nouns. Pair it with sign language for building communication skills before the ability to speak occurs.

I gave this to a friend making a trip to Dominican Republic to teach English at an orphanage. I don't speak Spanish but this is a great book. I'm going to order one for me to use in my work withESL kids.

I loved Richard Scarry picture books when I was a child. They were so interesting and lively, showing different aspects of life with the words next to the actions or objects. When a co-worker of mine changed careers to go from market research to teaching Spanish, I bought this book for her to use in the classroom. Then I bought one for my husband, who is a grade school principal where they teach Spanish as a second language. I still delight in looking at the pages and following the characters through town and farm life. It's a natural way to learn the first words of a Spanish vocabulary in a memorable way.

As an adult learning Spanish, I am enjoying the simplicity of this children’s book.

18 month old loves it. Wants to know the name for everything. Probably won’t use the Spanish until she’s older.

Very nice quality. Exactly what I wanted. It has the english words and the spanish translation right underneath. Perfect for building vocabulary.

I think every child should be exposed to a 2nd language young and grow up by lingual and this book provides basic vocabulary for that purpose. It does not, however, tell you how to pronounce the words, so if you want to help your child along you are going to have to take a few basic Spanish pronunciation lessons yourself.

I do not speak spanish, but took a trip with friends to Argentina. I took this book with me in case I wanted to translate with photos...it's easy to use and everyone enjoy's a kids book, even adults! I didn't have to really use it, but it was nice to have, just in case!

We're using this non to familiarize my kindergartner with the Spanish language before starting formal spanish lessons next year.

Great for Spanish-language kids learning English, and might help their parents, too, or for English-speaking kids learning Spanish. I wish I could find all of Richard Scarry's books in bilingual editions.

Great bilingual gift

This is a wonderful book but the print quality is very poor. The colors are off. The whole book is very yellow and the blues are faded. The colors are not bright. Its a pity, as I remember having this boos as a child and enjoying the vibrant colors.

I love all things Richard Scarry…this English/Spanish book is great!! Will enjoy teaching both to my little one.

This is an excellent book. Our 4 and 6 year old granddaughters refer to it often. Both in Spanish classes

I actually meant to order the Italian version. But this book is so wonderful I decided to keep it for my 3 year old nephew's birthday. It's large size and colorful details will keep him interested!

The book that was sent to us was English only. We wanted the hardback version to match our torn-up much beloved softback version

I bought this book for a 3 year old who is moving to Central America where her parents will work. Of several Spinish and bilingual books she has, this is her favorite. Mine too!

Been a staple in my house since it first came out.

Richard Scarry's books have been a bedtime story book read in our family for many years. My granddaughter just started school where she is learning the spanish language. This is one of her favorite books and she can practice her spanish while enjoying a bedtime story.

We had the original Richard Scarry, but only in English. After gifting it to someone, we replaced it with the SPanish/English version. It is perfect for our bi-lingual home!

we play with my son's stuffed animals and pretend that some of them speak only spanish, some only english, and some are bilingual, and we all learn languages together. he loves it and regularly asks for it as part of his bedtime routine.

I like this book better than two other similar Spanish-English picture books I've reviewed because Scarry's book consistently uses Mexican Spanish words, which is what I'm interested in. Other books use some Castillian words, which is fine if that's what you want. But the authors should make it clear which Spanish they lean toward.

I had this book when I was little, and I remember looking at it over and over again. There is so much to see. I grew up and now have 2 pequeños (little ones) of my own. I am excited for the opportunity to share some of my childhood memories, but with words both "how Mommy talks" and "como habla Papá (how Daddy talks)." This book is just as much fun as I remember, and it's a plus that it helps in the development of their bilingual reading comprehension.

I've always loved Richard Scarry books ever since my little brother received his first copy. They are so cute and detailed.

Me encanta, como todos los de Richard Scarry. Eso sí, está en español latino, para que lo sepan los que lo quieren en español castellano.
