I am not one of those teachers that thinks every "teacher" book is amazing. A book has to be pretty interesting to keep me reading, and this one did not disappoint! It motivates and gives great ideas for how to make your kids love learning.

I read it in one sitting, after a long day of packing up my classroom and cleaning out/organizing the science prep room. Couldn’t put it down!

Hamish shares his story and boy, is it a doozy! He certainly took the scenic route into our profession and his current position as a principal in Virginia. It’s clear that the scenic route he took greatly impacts his role every day. His motto “Be Relentless” is more than just a catchphrase. It’s a lifestyle that he’s lived out his entire life, it appears. He shares the secret sauce behind multiple school transformations! The way he explains it makes it seem like it’s the most obvious thing in the world, but if it’s so obvious why are more schools not knocking it out of the park! Definitely grab a copy of Relentless to be "in the know"!

This book was recommended to me by an administrator. I was surprised at some of language housed in the text. I don’t typically find such words in my daily conversations. Even so, I will say this: the text was well written. It was easy to follow. The text unfolded nicely. Also, it was delightful to get to know Mr. Brewer. His story is certainly worth reading. And his story is worth sharing. A diamond in the rough. An admirable man. I don’t agree with everything he says. But he sure is someone I’d listen to. His points are spot on. His message is timely. I trust that his unconventional methods are inspiring others to go their own course. Who wants people who fit into the mold? That is quite antiquated. We need more bold, fearless, innovative thinkers in the world. And that’s the message Mr. Brewer brings to the discussion. Good on him. Keep up the good work.

He's a kind caring man whom every single day tells his students he loves them. Then he shows them. If we had more people like him we could revolutionize the educational system for the better. I have been encouraged by him many times and found him to be a great inspiration. I look forward to what he does in the future. I also hope to work with him again soon.

As a new administrator I am always looking for inspiration to push the envelope of what is expected, how to engage those I lead in a way that in turn inspires them to be their best for kids, and involve all stakeholders in the process of creating a better tomorrow. Well I have to say, my 16 year old read this for one of his summer reading books to review!!! HE LOVED IT!!! Based upon his words, I cannot wait to read what Hamish Brewer is all about! I know of his magnificent impact here in our very own school system, as well as worldwide...he is truly changing the lives of every child, educator, and parent he comes in contact with in such a positive way!!! This book is meant to disrupt the norm of formal education. Anyone who is in the field of education whether elementary through college will benefit from reading Mr. Brewer’s book. As an educator it makes me hungry to get back in the classroom to keep loving my students, building those relationships and encouraging my team!

I'm an educator and currently reading this for a second time. It's just so nice to read a PD-type book and enjoy it! It's well written with good stories interspersed throughout the text. Definitely recommend this one!

The story and initiative of this real life Principal is AMAZING! What an incredible mentor students have to look up to. Other school divisions need to open their eyes and ears, hear what Hamish has to say, look what he's done, and follow in his footsteps. Stay Relentless!

A great summer read for teachers looking for inspiration! Just wow! I would love to see and hear Mr. Brewer in action. I’m sure his staff and students have lots of wonderful stories to tell. The book is not a step by step guide of how to teach, but an honest memoir of the difficulties of teaching and of life. I love the honesty for teachers - “If you’re waiting on someone with help, help ain’t coming — you are the cavalry...” Excellent, quick read!

This was one of those education books that you start and don’t want to put down. You are drawn into Hamish’s life stories and experiences, then catapulted into application in the school, ultimately being left inspired to be relentless for kids and in your own life. Thank you for such an amazing book! I’m all in and ready to conquer this next year!

Has value in his ideas but schools and state mandates are so rigid this is not that realistic. I am happy he is able to make a difference. Making a positive difference in a kids life is so important to all dedicated teachers.

Hopefully he will write a book on dealing with red tape and all of the fears administrators have of doing what he did which was to go back and focus on each student as a whole person- and every staff member as a whole person. Our kids need more people like him.

Hamish is the bomb!! Education is so much more than books and test scores. It is about kids and forming relationships with those kids. This guy has it all figured out! If you are an educator or a leader, and you have not read this book, then get with it!

Great book for my teaching

Very inspire, needed my first year as Principal! Wow.

Went on vacation with my wife’s family and read “Relentless” out on the beach. Was a phenomenal read and would highly recommend for any educator to read for personal professional growth. Would also be great for any school to use as professional development.

This book has encouraged me to become the best teacher I can be! I am revitalized about my career choice. I will be returning to school this August with a new sense of purpose and I afraid to let my passion shine brightly. Thank you Mr. Brewer for your inspirational story!

It"s amazing,every teacher who cares shoul absolutely read it!

I enjoyed the book. As a veteran teacher (27years). I read a lot 7-10 books a year around the topic of education. I liked that there were educators input in the book based on the authors stories. There was specific examples of what worked and what did not. The beginning was slow, but overall I really enjoyed the book and got a lot out of it.

Thought provoking and inspirational

This book was on my summer read list. I loved parts of this book, but ... I have a rule, three errors and it's a "delete from device", soon to be relic. I went over my limit, but ... the following examples were like fingernails on the chalkboard: "... told him to dig the hold himself", "... to focusing on own their learning...", " ... when I was notified that that our fire truck ...", " ... it could cost someone their life ...", "I his wife, Sue ...", "even if was five - dollar pizza night ...". Tap, hold, delete from device. PLEASE, proofread and edit. Put out a new version to update on my Kindle app. I'd love to try it again.

A must read! A much more innovative approach to educational leadership, self-improvement, and doing whatever it takes for your students and staff!

I’m not usually one to get so caught up in reading a professional development / education book, but after seeing the piece on Hamish’s work at Fred Lynn I knew I wanted to learn more from him. A group of teachers at my school decided to read this book and have a book talk together this summer and I was just too excited to wait to begin reading. Hamish Brewer’s Relentless was so good! I couldn’t put the book down - I read it in one sitting. Hamish hits on all the tough areas that need some self reflection and I am excited about putting the information and self reflection pieces I jotted down while reading into play in my classroom and throughout my school this year.

As an educator, this is a MUST READ! If you want to feel energized and ready to attack next year, this is the book for you. Mr. Brewer focuses on family and building relationships. He and his staff put connecting with students and families before test scores and data. I am a HUGE advocate of this approach. The book is a fun read that any educator can appreciate. He and his staff help make learning authentic, purposeful, and above all else, FUN!

Relentless is an inspiring book for all administrators and teacher leaders. As a teacher this book provided me with a new appreciation on why administrators do some of the things they do. It also inspired me how I, as a teacher leader, can support my administrators in our school mission.
