Yes, this will get you the current revision of the 6th edition (79th printing, Dec 2016)

Hello friends, If you are reading this review you already know that this is the gold standard of ECG texts for many reasons. I won't rehash what many other talented reviewers have written, so if you want details on the content of the book check out some of the other reviews. You may or may not know that the content of this excellent book is updated with each printing to ensure clinical relevancy. I am writing this review to address one question that I was unable to find an answer to prior to purchasing: will buying this book get you the most current revision of the most current edition (6th)? The answer appears to be yes. I purchased this book new from Amazon directly and received a copy from the December 2016 printing of the 6th Edition (current edition). As far as I know this is the most recent printing. I'm sure the changes are small but it's nice to know you are getting what you pay for when buying new. Photos attached. I hope this is helpful. As you can see it appears to go through 2-3 printings per year so we are probably due for a new version soon. Whether it will make a different is anyone's guess, I just wanted to make sure my copy would reflect the major 2015 AHA updates and it appears that this does.

I often get overwhelmed opening a textbook... This book is not that way at all

This is literally EKG's for idiots. Dubin breaks it down and spoon feeds the information to you in a way that makes it easy for a first year medical student to understand this information at its fundamental level to then apply it to more complex disease states. Often times when I read a text book I feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information included on a page. This book does not leave me feeling that way at all. It is simple to read and easy to digest and he does a great job of reiterating points as you progress though the book and introducing concepts in such a manner that they are easy to grasp on the first read though.

BEWARE OF COUNTERFEITS!

This is an excellent book for learning how to decipher EKGs, but anyone purchasing this should beware of counterfeit copies. Amazon doesn’t seem to care about taking the listings down for the counterfeits, so buyer beware. The original book retails for around $40 and the ISBN for it is 9780912912066. Don’t settle for anything less!

First time pre-ACLS life saver!

I got this gem 4 days ago and I’m already at least 1/3 the way through it. I’m a new nurse using this before I take ACLS certification, and I prefer to really understand how and why something is than just memorize a certain framework. I “got” ekgs enough to pass nursing school and the NCLEX but this book is fantastic and so detailed and actually interesting. I feel so much more knowledgeable already, like I could look at a strip and understand where and what is happening- so that’s awesome! I can’t wait to finish and I would recommend this to anyone in the medical field who feels like a dummy about EKGs. I would say it only requires the basic level of knowledge of at least an emt with ekg exposure or one in medical/nursing school with anatomy/physiology courses completed. Although he will break everything down (quickly) in the start, I think you have to have a solid knowledge of the autonomic nervous system and some other concepts to really utilize this book to its full potential- but you could definitely improve your knowledge regardless but will miss some major eggs. each page restates similar/related information in a very logical and emphasized way that is great for recall. BUT NOTE: this fantastic book (the one I received, 6th ed) was printed in 2000. Most if not all of the information I’ve read so far is basic/time-tested material; but 18 years is a small lifetime of evidenced based knowledge. I would think mostly pharmacological treatment algorithms would be changed the most but I haven’t reached that part (if it’s even in the book), but that’s not why I got this book- I will master those after getting this awesome base! You rock, Doctor Dubin!

A classic text any medical professional should have

I work with a 70 year old cardiologist who is truly a legend in the field. He mentioned that this was the book that he memorized and read front to back during his residency and fellowship. I work in primary care, but if it worked for him, it sure as heck works for me. The book is extremely easy to understand and follow. The explanations are simple and he makes it easy to retain information. While the organization isn't the absolute greatest, it is still no reason to give this book anything less than 5 stars. Use post-it tabs and keep re-reading information you don't understand. This book is a gem to have.

A Game-Changer

Learning about EKGs during my undergraduate physiology course, I can say without a doubt I was extremely weak in this subject. Now, as a nursing student, I decided it was of utmost importance to develop a deeper understanding of EKGs. Dr. Dale Dubin's "Rapid Interpretation of EKGs" was an absolute life-changer for me, ultimately allowing me to understand and differentiate cardiac rhythms, as well as appreciate the anatomy and physiology behind the heart and its electrical conduction system. I highly recommend this to anyone who yearns for knowledge of EKGs!

Great resource for understanding ECG!

I've been a nurse for the last 4 years and have never quite grasped telemetry since it is not often necessary where I work. But as I am about to transition to a critical care role, I was recommended this book and it has absolutely loved up to it's reputation so far. I'm only a few chapters in, but it is very clearly structured, has clear diagrams, and is not overwhelming as many text books can feel. If my opinions change as I read on I will update, otherwise I'd recommend for anyone looking to understand ECG better!

Received a forgery.

My friend who was in med school 10 years ago let me borrow this book and it's GREAT. I felt bed keeping it for so long, that I bought my own copy. Turns out, this seller is sending forgeries. The color of the cover is different; the word "simplified" is misspelled on the cover; Dale Dubin doesn't have "M.D." behind his name. The pages inside are black and white scanned reprints rather than the glossy color pages of an authentic edition. Do not buy from this vendor. Check out the side by side photos. The authentic copy is on the right (orange).

Super simple sugar bear

This book is awesome! I'm a medical student and this block we're studying cardiology. I am near the bottom of the class. I go to lecture everyday and absolutely understand NADA because the lecturer speaks on a level that is 10x more advanced than me, but the other students seem to understand it. I bought this book because after 4 lectures of EKG's at my school, the only thing I got out of it is that EKG's are cool little zig zags. I didn't know how to diagnose ANY cardiac pathologies from EKG's. So I bought this book to give me a leg up on my competition, or at least be on an even level with the rest of the med students in my class. It helped me a looooooot. This book explains to you like you're an elementary school student. I now understand EKG's much better than before. The book is ~ 350 pages, but there are diagrams on every page and a few notes to accompany each diagram, so they're not really "full pages." I like this, because if you condense it all into a regular book without diagrams, it's really only like 100 pages of reading. I understood EKG's after devoting one day of a weekend toward studying it. This book is AWESOME, really explains things well!!!!

Great for help with your ekg tech certification course

Great book! I took an ekg tech certification course a month ago and used this book to help me better understand cardiac depolarization and repolarization. It was so much better than the other books I ordered and helped me grasp not only the concept of reading ekg’s but fully understand how the electrical system in the heart works. Some people say this book is too much but I think it’s great and definitely helped me out.

Great buy! Funny misprint

A great resource in learning EKGs! Lots of large pictures and diagrams with easy to follow explanations. The copy I did receive carried a misprint which I found funny. Overall, 100% recommend to anybody that is learning or developing a stronger understanding on how to read EKGs

Classic time-tested

Yes, this is a classic book. The only thing I objected to was the title - as a non-American the use of EKG instead of ECG rankles. But if that is seriously the only thing to protest, then this book is a winner. I have interpreted ECGs for the hospital, explained the subtleties of these tracings to junior house officers, and held tutorials for nurses. I still find this book to be excellent, not only for the explanations, but also for the intent of making an ECG understood on a deeper level. Patterns can be learned, but they can be easily forgotten. What was once second nature on the cardiology ward is now, years later in remote general practice, a mystic utterance. This book will make the transition back to clarity much easier. It is all there. You move from the tracing to physiology, to anatomy to explanations in greater depth. Yet the book is clear, concise and absolutely understandable at any level of clinical skill.

Best EKG book I’ve found

There’s a reason everyone mentions this book when talking about learning EKGs, particularly at a more advanced level. It’s fantastic. I did an advanced EKG elective for med school and this was my required text for it. It’s one of the only books I’m not grumpy about having to spend money on for school and I am definitely keeping it around to refer back to when I need a refresher.

Wonderful book for new ICU nurse

I am a new RN and getting ready to start a residency program in the ICU. I am so, so thankful I got this book. I have been reading it to get a head start on rhythms, and I wish I had found this book during nursing school. It just makes so much sense! I don't know how he makes it so easy to understand, but THANK YOU, Dr. Dubin!

Never thought I could become so engaged in reading

I have never really considered cardiology when choosing specialty, but this book is just unbelievable. When I was shadowing a cardiologist back in the days, I always felt bad because the only thing I sucked at was interpreting EKG. I could never understand it. Even now, working as a medical scribe, I couldn't tell whether an EKG was normal or not. Until reading this book. I feel so much more confident about EKG. Book arrived perfect!

Best little EKG book out there!

This is the easiest-to-follow EKG book I've ever seen. Illustrations and pneumonics are abundant. Information per page is concrete and not overwhelming (only a few sentences on each page), important points are repeated throughout. I can't say enough positive about this book. It is as interesting/entertaining as it possibly could be, given the topic. It also does a great job building some foundational UNDERSTANDING which can not be underestimated. Love it!

An advanced EKG review text written for novices

I bought this book awhile ago as a second year medical student and read it during my cardiology block where it was cool but somewhat over my head. I'm re-reading it now as a 4th year going into Emergency Medicine and this book has proven its worth. I've been handed EKGs to review frequently and I find I can read them systematically just fine from my old reading of this book but even more so now I can actually look at an EKG identify a junctional vs. an atrial premature beat and really read and remember the physiology as I look at an EKG. It's written simplistically- it's a quite easy read but the words simple as they are teach advanced concepts that require you to re-read the page sometimes. It's definitely a book I'm going to re-read a couple of times to ensure I have my skills down pat before I go onto other sources (like EKG-Maven- a fantastic online resource recommended by many of the EM physicians who've taught me). So buy this if you're looking for a solid foundation and are willing to put in the time and effort to learn to read an EKG, and are okay with learning as simplistically as possible. (Personally I used to wonder what people would think seeing a med student reading a large font, cartoonish, "easy" looking book. I stopped worrying about that a while ago. Now I go for the easiest resource to learn from).

A MUST HAVE BOOK

This is definitely one book to read. It has many practical ways of reading charts as well as understanding the underlying causes. Book starts in reverse, first shows how to read the charts and than some theory. Most of the situations are explained with reasons why the charts are showing certain forms but there are also some situations that author does not explain why the chart has the shape that it has, so you just have to take it as is. I learned a lot of tips from the book. Once you start reading it ,it is difficult to put it aside. It is so smooth. There is not much theory in the book, i.e no electrical theory. If you do not have background from physiology books, even though you may be able to read the charts you may not be able to understand physics behind it, in other words this is not a full substitute for Physiology subject. I wish author with his perfect ability to simplify the things could also include some theory.

Innovative way to make a hard subject accessible

Got this book (I am a 2nd year DO student) at the suggestion of just about everyone in the primary care dept. at our school and many of the upperclassmen as well. I have to say, it definitely lives up to the hype. One thing I like is that it is written so accessibly, so that someone without a prior background in the subject can totally understand it. He is very innovative in his teaching methods by adding helpful and simplistic diagrams and examples of EKGs, and the style of writing, where there are blanks you fill in mentally as you go along. This helps because people, especially medical students, who are constantly reading, can get exhausted over time and start to drift. The fill in the blanks method (the answers are provided of course, in the right margin) keeps your brain working and building those synaptic pathways. At the end there are very useful quick review sheets that you can also access online (print out and stick in your white coat, perhaps, if you're on a rotation) which was an excellent way to remind you of the important points when you're trying to review and don't have a lot of time to go over every single thing. Great book. I will definitely keep it as a lifetime reference.

Awesome book

I was first introduced to this book in the second year of my paramedic training in 1984. It was required reading. I found the book easy to understand, conceptualize and translate to practical application. It is *awesome*. Since 1984 I have recommended it many, many times to colleagues, nurses, physicians, and paramedic students. They have all given similar glaring reviews. In the paramedic arena, it is simply known as "Dubin's" The ICU and ED nurses that I have recommended it to say that they have never had as good an understanding of the physiology behind the rhythms until reading "Dubin's". It should be required reading for anyone in direct patient care who deals with EKGs. I recommend it above all others for basic and advance understanding of the electrocardiogram, its physiology and interpretation.

Great buy for MS2s!

This is a very very good book for the cardiology block! It gets you up to speed extremely fast and does it in a very simplified manner. Albeit he begins the book with UBER basics and treats you as if you're a complete and utter blank slate (aka grade school kid), he quickly speeds up around pg 100 and delves into the EKGs. He also does an excellent job in the first 100 pages explaining the basic reasoning of EKGs and how lead placement affects certain aspects of the EKG, such as axis deviation or location of cardiac lesions and abnormalities (certain findings in particular leads will point you in the direction of an anterior MI or right heart hypertrophy). In my experience, reading this book was sufficient to understand EKGs, correlate them with clinical cases, and do well on my MS2 cardiology block. Of course, this book is very simplified in its approach to EKGs, so if you're going to be heading into cardiology or want more advanced knowledge and detail, then you probably want to consider something more advanced. But for beginners and for a very firm yet rudimentary understanding of the principles and techniques to reading EKGs, I highly recommend this book.

Great book

This book has been around for a while, with several new editions. I received a copy when I was a young nurse. Every nursing student should own it. Understanding and reading EKG’s is a great skill to start out with. Information in the book is presented well.

Get this book.

I'd been searching for a solid EKG book to enhance my clinical skill. Prior to reading, I'd taken anatomy and physiology in college so I had a very basic understanding of ekg's and the associated knowledge. Dr Dubin takes you by the hand and spoon feeds you information at the perfect pace so that when you start learning the actual interpretation methods, it makes sense. I read it almost as if Dr Dubin is teaching it, repeating concepts that are crucial for clinical use and with the interesting factoid or pearl to break up monotony. It moves slow, but rest assured: this book FAR exceeded my expectations.

Great book to have if EKGs always confuse you!

I always found EKGs challenging even after medical school. This book finally helped EKGs make more sense to me! I considered renting it for review before my licensing exams, but I decided it was a good investment. It was a smart move because I can refer to it throughout my career. If you’re on the fence but have struggled with reading and interpreting EKGs, I definitely recommend this book.

A Must Have for anyone learning EKGs

This book is awesome. Written at a level anyone can understand and learn from. Just after reading it once I was able to identify many rhythms on the first try and had a very great understanding of how the hearty works. It is definitely helping me through paramedic school and I know it’ll continue to be a reference way beyond school. 100% recommend.

MUST HAVE FOR MED SCHOOL AND BEYOND

Bought this book when I was scribing in a cardio clinic and used it in medical school the minute we started learning EKG's. It's especially helpful when trying to understand axis deviation. Worth every penny and you WILL use it again in your med career, as was promised and proven to me by the cardiologists I worked for. Happy learning!

Quick, easy read

I read this book cover to cover in an afternoon at the beginning of my internal med rotation as a MS3 and was very happy I did. It walks you through the (very) basics of EKG reading, and leaves you with enough information that you (hopefully) won't look dumb in front of your attending. Although Dubin treats you like a kindergartener at times, he hits all the high points and gets to a decent level of knowledge for a MS3. The fill in the blank format does get tired after a while, but the book as a whole is excellent. This book is a little lower in complexity than my MS2 coursework, but it was a fast read that got me caught up and far less panicked in no time at all. I found myself referring back to it on multiple occasions, and only rarely had to refer back to prior coursework or other resources. So in that respect I'd say it covers 95% of what I needed to know during the clerkship.

Interesting

Required textbook for my EKG class. I already read the reviews previously so I knew what to expect. My class will be interactive so this type of textbook will actually come in handy. It's easy to understand and follow along. It even makes it enjoyable to read.

Very Readable!

Purchased this for my graduate level Cardiopulmonary class, and love it! It is a very easy read, and easy to understand. Author does well in ensuring comprehension and understanding, and even throws in some humor. It is somewhat repetitious and very simply written, but this aids in understanding in my opinion..... Images are very clear and well labeled. Appendix including strip examples of every type of arrhythmia/condition allows for quick reference and comparison......It is like an "EKG for Dummies" book, and those with little or no experience with the subject matter would be able to grasp it fairly easily.... I would recommend this for those in undergrad or grad school.

Highly recommend!

We were required to purchase this book for PA school, and it's done a wonderful job of not only teaching how to read EKG's, but also teaching the "why" behind it (which helps me remember a lot more than rote memorization). Repetition of concepts and the fill-in-the-blanks also helped the information to sink in. When we had an intro to EKG's and arrhythmias first semester, I felt lost but after reading this book this semester, it's like a light bulb was switched on. For anyone trying to learn EKG's, I highly recommend this book!

I LOVE this book!

I had to purchase this book (among others) for my polysomnography course, and let me just say this is by far the best textbook I've ever had the pleasure of reading! The concepts are very simplified and straight forward. Each page has fill-in-the-blanks to help you concentrate on and learn each concept. Each page also has a helpful picture to convey things to be learned. The writing style is very good, and the author is quite entertaining. This book really does take boring, tedious lessons and make them fun. I wish all textbooks could be like this!

Buy IT

Dear Medical Professionals, EKG students, Nurses not matter what level, please READ THIS BOOK. I wish I had found this book earlier, oh I wish. But I have many opportunities to re-read it and use it now. It is a no fluff READ. It is not filled with wordage you need a dictionary to understand and yeah it comes with pictures too. Oooh Yeah.

As a Nurse Practitioner I hate to admit that I have struggled with reading EKG's

As a Nurse Practitioner I hate to admit that I have struggled with reading EKG's, but this book broke it down in the simplest way. lots of basic review of anatomy and physiology. Now I am very confident in picking up minor changes that are being looked over by the mechanical EKG interpretation. I would recommend this to any Nurses or interns struggling with EKG's. Its a easy read that gives constant reinforcement.

A must have

I used the Dubin's 1st edition to supplement my own learning during my initial telemetry course. I now encourage our students to purchase their own 6th edition to supplement the classroom or on-line learning we provide. It is excellent for the entry level nurse or resident just starting out in health care, or as a reference guide for those who do not use their EKG interpretation skills often. The graphics provided in this edition are a visual plethora of information to lay down the basic rules of the skill. This seems to be one reference book that gets "borrowed forever", so the price is a fair investment. Definitely a keeper. Dianne S.

Excellent learning material

I am a paramedic student that is close to graduating. I already had some training in cardiology and EKG interpretation, but bought this book from recommendations from other people in the EMS field. The main reason for the purchase was that the book we used in class I thought did not do enough to explain the different rhythms and what causes them, so this was a supplement to what I have learned already. First off after reading the first two chapters I can honestly saw I learned more that what I learned in the original class. Dr. Dubin does a great job in simplifying the content and the way he presents it is great also. He has a set up in a workbook type manner, with fill in the blanks for each page. I would recommend this book whether you are looking for a supplement book or a primary book for EKGs. Again I have learned a lot more with this book than I did with the original class I took.

Must have!!!!! Look no further!!!!

This book is a must for anyone trying to learn cardiac interpretation!!! It really breaks it down!!!! If you are looking for a book to learn out of or just refresh this is the one!!!

There’s a reason this has been around for so long

I’m a medical student and my mom recommended this from back when she was in nursing school. I love it. I’m in my last year and it still teaches me things that I either forgot or never really understood. Easy to read and lots of pictures.

Best Resource Available

This book is by far the best resource available for learning to interpret EKGs. I've heard people are turned off by the simplicity of the book, but that is its best feature. Its written so that even those with the least amount of medical education can understand. There is no use in making things more difficult than they need to be. This book was written to teach the interpretation of EKG's, it does just that and nothing more. And it does it better than anything else I've seen. Its written in short sentences that do away with the extraneous material and strike right to the core of the important information. Often the sentences will have a blank where you have to fill in the word (the correct word is listed next to it in the margin). This really just serves to maintain your focus while reading, and it does its job. I've come across few books in medical school that I will keep throughout my career, this is certainly one of them. Its so easy to read, understand, and actually presents the important information with emphasis on understanding and not just memorizing patterns or numbers, etc. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who needs skill in reading EKG's.

Nursing student stamp of approval

I'm a nursing student, and I generally like and do well with the EKG basics we cover in my classes. I had to take an intensive 2-day class on EKG's this term, and the teacher was terrible! I was feeling so confused and unsure of myself until this puppy arrived in the mail. It takes you through step-by-step and breaks things down to the basics. It is easy to go through, easy to learn from, and now I am a MASTER EKG INTERPRETER. Ok, maybe not. But seriously why buy any other book if you can get this one?

Can't put it down!

I received my order sooner than expected, which was a nice surprise, and although I purchased this book used, it is in almost new condition. I'm already mesmerized by the way Dr Dubin explains things in a way that's easy to understand. I feel confident that this book will provide me with the knowledge that I need to conquer my fear of working in a cardiac ICU!

The only EKG book you'll need... really.

Other books (ahem) say they're the only EKG book you'll ever need. This is the only book that I've ever had recommended to me over and over again in the course of the last few years I've spent working as a telemetry technician and as a nursing student. The pictures in the book feel dated, but it's a phenomenal resource. The neon orange cover also makes it easy to find if you have a shelf of medical reference books (you do have a shelf of medical reference books, don't you?).

Still an easy to use, basic intro to ECG's

Fast, "programmed learning" concept from my student days still works.

Excellent book, finally I understand those mysterious EKG's

Excellent book, finally I understand those mysterious EKG's. It helps you interpret your EKG's with out having to have doubts from the strange sophisticated words of your doctor. So you can compare and make your mind if you are confident with what was told to you or would like to maybe seek out for a second opinion. But never, NEVER ! depend on your own interpretation of the EKG's, don't fool around with your life. Be sure to rely on Doctors. This is only to help you take away the mystery behind this graphs.

As expected

Book was as expected. It did arrive on time. I would recommend it.

absolutely fabulous

D.Dubin's Rapid Interpretation of EKG's,Sixth Edition is clear and easy to understand in simple language with illustrations that explains detailed concepts in an interactive and engaging process. It includes the dubin websites for further learning opportunities and links to other interesting sites. For the concepts learned, there is a concise summary at the end of the book with EKG examples to test learned knowledge. This remarkable book is a must for anyone dealing with EKGs. Highly recommended.

Absolutely incredible!

I've used several EKG texts over the years and this one is definitely one of the best! The unique method used to convey basic through advanced EKG principles is highly effective! This book contains excellent diagrams to help reinforce concepts. The presentation of axis and 12-lead EKGs is especially helpful. I certainly don't think this is only book one should use when learning EKGs (i.e., Thaler's text is good too), but I think it's truly one of the best and most useful.

This is one of the few books I've ever seen written by an educator!

I am currently entering medic school and have had very little exposure to EKGs. I was nervous when a medic friend recomended it, as I'm pretty squeemish about reading material ahead of the opportunities to apply it. This book is amazing. Everyone I've spoken with has told me that it is very comprehensive, yet I would give it to your average 15 year old and be confident they would understand each and every concept thoroughly! Dale Dubin is a first rate educator. He seems to take personal responiblility not only for the content of the material, but your retention upon completion. This is a very rare find in my opinion!

Definitely recommend

I didn't exactly get the best EKG education during PA school. I was recommended this book and am glad I read it because I have a much better grasp on EKGs now. Every single page has a picture on it (great for me, I'm a visual learner) and the author breaks the concepts down into simple ideas. Worth it.

Must buy!

You must buy this book Easy and clear to understand. Love this book. In juat a few pages, I've learned so much. Can't wait to finish and feel more confident with EKGs.

Awesome Book!

I’ve been so stressed about learning to read EKGs better. I’m a brand new AEMT. My book just arrived 45 minutes ago. I just read the first chapter. This book is amazing! Holy cow! So easy to understand. And fun to read as well. I don’t want to put it down, but I have to go make dinner for the kids and hubby. Can’t wait to get back to reading it.

EKG medic school

Amazing and easy way to learn ekg and understanding of how they work and what makes sense

Dubin has formatted the book to make it easy and enjoyable to learn this valuable skill

I'm a pre med student and every doctor, resident, med student, PA, and EMT I've talked to says this is the number 1 book to learn interpretation of EKG. Dr. Dubin has formatted the book to make it easy and enjoyable to learn this valuable skill. Definitly not like reading a normal, boring, textbook.

Great

Awesome book helps alot with learning ekg facts!

Excellent book! Highly recommended by the cardiologists that I ...

Excellent book! Highly recommended by the cardiologists that I work for and all of us in the office use it for reference and teaching. Definitely explains things in a detailed and easy-to-follow method. The knowledge buids on one concept to another throughout the reading of the book. Well put together and an easy on the eye and brain way of learning.

Excellent, step-by-step intro to EKG reading

Excellent, step-by-step intro to EKG reading. THE intro to EKG reading for years. Didactic method of writing by presenting small bits of information and repeating them definitely helped to understand and commit to memory more quickly and easily. Hasn't been updated for several years, though. EKG problems at end of book can serve as test of understanding.

Highly recommended

This book dumbs down ekg interpretation to the most basic level and makes it so much easier to understand.

easybreezyEKG

I had this book when I first started in EKG back in 1971 and was the first tech in SC to be trained in Holter monitoring. I found this one book to be extremely easy to follow and to learn to quickly identify disrhythmias. I have owned several copies since then and each one has been borrowed and never returned. I'm keeping this one as a good reference book for sometimes difficult rhythms. For someone who has little background this book allows you to self test all the way through and gives practice strips as you go. The answers are on the side so you can know what you missed without going back and forth so much.

Best EKG book I've ever read

This is definitely the best EKG book. For every beginner, this book will help a lot of you understand EKGs. I have had several people in my class tell me that they truly didn't understand it until they read this book. It has color pictures, and it's really well written with great examples that help you figure out what you are looking at in an EKG. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

The Only EKG Book You Need

I have a lot of books about EKGs this is by far the best one.. Don't waste your money on any other book. This one is all you need. 100% worth it.

MUST HAVE!!!

This book is a great study tool for getting a better understanding of EKGs. It gives a clear breakdown of the workings of the EKG reader and the leads. Really presents what is a lot of complicated information in a more easy to digest format. Will help you not just read EKGs but also give you a fundamental understanding of WHY the readings present the way they do.Most of the Paramedics and paramedic students I know make a point of reading this book at some point. I would describe this book as must have for any new paramedic or nursing student looking to get better at EKG interpretation.

It has TONS of figures and diagrams to help you better understand the material which is essential when trying to ...

I used this book in my DPT program. I think this book really lays out the material well. It has TONS of figures and diagrams to help you better understand the material which is essential when trying to understand how to read an EKG. I also like that it doesn't bog you down with too many words. The information is very clear, concise, and to the point.

Must have for PA Program

I bought this book for my daughter as she is going to School to beacon a PA. This book is essential.

Great Book.

This is the quintessential text for learning the fundamentals of EKG interpretation. This book is the reason that I passed cardiology. Not everybody likes Dubins, but he is read at every level of medicine involving cardiology, from EKG Tech, to Paramedic, to Cardiologist. This is a book that you will likely keep throughout your career, and refer to periodically.

ER nurse and cardiologist approved!

Ok, so I've been an ER nurse for roughly 3 years now and thought I had my rhythm identification down pretty well. I purchased this book at the recommendation of my ER doc and did not think I would get too much out of it. Boy was I wrong. When you first start reading this book you'll be dismayed as it seems somewhat simple. You look at the picture on the page, read a few sentences and then answer a few questions. Rinse and repeat every page. The first 5-8 chapters I thought that i wasted my money. By chapter 10 or so I was learning things i didn't know before. In the middle of the book i was hooked fully. After reading it a few times and refreshing parts I did not understand fully, I feel very confident in my EKG abilities. On multiple occasions I have argued with cardiologists about rhythms (and won). I think that if you have a basic understanding of the human anatomy and baseline knowledge of how the heart works this book will be an asset. The learning method used is easy to digest and builds upon itself in such a way that the information is reinforced. Very happy with this purchase and will recommend it to anyone asking.

Great Guide

This breaks down everything you need to know for interpreting EKG. I like the way it's written. Helps me understand it because it uses repetition to get the point across and asks questions to in between each new introduction of material to help you recall information. I would highly recommend this book for nursing classes where you are learning EKG or ACLS without any other formal training.

I LOVE this book

I LOVE this book. Not just because I love cardiology-related things, but because this book is SO helpful and easy to understand. A basic layout of a page is an image or diagram with 1-2 sentences as the caption. The rest are fill-in-the blank statements that help you review and understand what you just read. Very effective at teaching you as you read and help you retain that information as well!

Good for beginners, easy to understand

If you're new to ECG interpretation, this is a great book to start with. It breaks it down and explains it very well, easy to understand.

Best EKG book out there.

I recently read this book for a course I'm taking in medical school. This book is an excellent introduction EKGs. I was advised to read this book by cardiovascular surgeons, dentists, cardiologists, and internists. All who recommended reading this book had read the text at some point in their training and claimed it was 'the gold standard' on the subject. I plan I keeping this book on my shelf for the entirety of my medical career.

Excellent Reference

This book is well written and fantastic for self teaching. The concepts are laid out logically and build on one another.

Clear and step-by-step simplified.

I have always received requests to rate books but felt relaxed to do it. For this book, I just cannot resist doing it and giving it all the stars available! The simplicity of the book is just incredible. From clarity comes understanding; from understanding comes knowledge and from knowledge comes wisdom. The book clarifies the content by breaking-down the content into pieces, step by step to make it easy to understand. It introduces the content from the simplest concepts to the core of the matter. A good teacher assumes that a student doesn't know and should be made to know starting with the little known, to the core. The book replaces a teacher in explaining the content in small bits as it appears. There is no simpler way that I would expect a book to be! It is great. A.M - California.

some books you buy for class, you'll keep this book for life

I was recommended this book for a paramedic course. if you're like me and had no previous experience then this is the book for you. My mother loaned me the 3rd edition. It helped me get through the first phase of learning ekgs. then i saw a 6th edition one of my supervisors had and it gave more up to date info and explains the process a little more. so i ended up buying the 6th edition for myself. this book breaks down the information so that an 8th grader could learn the material.

Amazing book!

If you need to break down cardiology into the simplest possible terms then this is the book for you. It helped me learn a lot and starts at the basics and works all the way through everything you would need to know. It is great for paramedics and doctors alike

so helpful!

We get very little EKG interpretation teaching in school, so this book was so helpful! It is a VERY slow read. I know it's a picture book, but don't expect to fly through it. I went through it once pretty slowly, but I definitely need to go through it again (it's only been a few months), and I'm sure I'll need to do it again before I start residency next year. Stil, it's effective and helpful. I recommend it .

Probably one of the best EKG resources out there.

This has been a great resource for everything related to cardiac functioning. The explanations are simplified for ease of understanding, the pictures really help you visualize tricky concepts, and the overall organization is superb. I can see myself using this throughout medical school and even as a future reference when practicing. The book itself came in new condition - wrapped in plastic and with that “new book” smell.

Very helpful

I used this to prep me for my ACLS class. It was recommended by my father who has been a paramedic and ACLS coordinator most of my life. He said that's what he used when he first started paramedic school and has since recommended it to any of his students/colleagues, and 25+ years later it worked for me. I have also let friends use it for their ACLS class prep and they found it helpful.

Great book for review/ starting point!

Started out learning EKG’s with this book. It was recommended to me by a few of my coworkers & now I recommend it to you. It’s also good for EKG review.

Highly recommended

Must have ekg review for anyone in the medical field.

Great book! Must have for EKG

This book is great. I wish every book or reading I had to do in med school was written like this! Dubin is a genius for writing his book like this! I can casually sit down and read 50 pages in an hour. This book is currently saving me for my EKG test in my cardiopulmonary block!

Best book for EKGs

This book has pretty much everything a med student needs to know for EKGs. It is such an easy read, you can literally get through the entire book in an afternoon. I highly recommend it.

The best EKG book out there👍

New grad into the ICU and this book clearly explained everything and much more than what my hospital's EKG class covered. Everything is clearly presented and the main concepts are HEAVILY repeated throughout the book to ensure that they stick. Highly recommend!

Excellent for student

As a first-year nursing student, I came into the program with a very basic knowledge of the heart. Though I'm not completely finished with this text, it's really been helpful in my studies, as well as work at the clinical site. I recommend it for any nursing student interested in the heart. My professors were impressed that I had it listed as a reference, which is nice as well!

Excellent

It’s like having that great explanation given in 4th year again on how an ECG works after being in practice for a few years when it is now clinically relevant.

Great book, poor binding

2/16/13 This book is packed full of knowledge and is easy to read! My one and only complaint (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is the fact that the construction of the book is horrible. I've been going through the book page by page in a non-violent manner and half the pages are almost completely falling out. I find it pretty sad that the content of the book is amazing, yet the publisher decided to provide such poor binding. *** EDIT *** 2/18/13 After contacting oddesseyy_books and informing them about the condition of the book, they offered to replace it. (now 5 stars out of 5) I would definitely order from oddesseyy_books again! Thank you!

A different way to learn

This isn’t your typical textbook; it’s made to teach you with pictures and by filling the blanks, quizzing yourself as you go. Great learning tool. The chapters go by fast.

BUY DUBIN!

If you don't know of Dubin, buy this book. The first EKG book I ever bought and I don't regret it. I keep it handy for refreshers. I hated cardiology and it was a foreign language to me but Dubin does a GREAT job of breaking it down. Wouldn't you know it, cardiology is my favorite subject now that I understand it.

The best

I’m so happy with this purchase. As a new tele nurse, I was really anxious regarding ekg interpretation but this book breaks it down so simply. I am finding it really helpful and definitely would recommend it to all health professionals.

Reliable standard

I think this is my 7th or 8th copy. My partners keep absconding with them. İ guess İ don't really mind, as it's well worth sharing the knowledge. But İ sure wish it was on kindle...

You can teach an old doc new tricks

I read the 2nd edition while in med school in the late 70's and have referred to it frequently over the years. Recently purchased the 6th edition for my daughter graduating from high school and headed to nursing school. After giving it to her, I read it cover to cover when she wasn't looking. Many new points added to the basic solid "Toyota Corolla" package--new topics (e.g., ECG post-cardiac transplant), new graphics (but still at least one every page), color photos (the 65 Tbird was black and white in my old version), great summary at the end. A great book for the novice or the practicing physician reading ECG's every day of his/her life. Dr. Dubin is still the master of this subject--even though he trained in the 60's and is neither an internist nor a cardiologist.

would recommend. interactive.

I really love this book. Simple, interactive, and great for learning. I work as a medical scribe, and this book was very helpful in understanding how to read EKGs of patients. Would recommend. This was recommended to me by several friends.

Easy Read

Exactly what I needed for school and easy to read. Pictures are helpful

Rave revue

Are you a doctor (non-cardiac), nurse, Respiratory Therapist that needs to pass ACLS? This is THE book for you! But it's not JUST for rhythm interpretation. This is EKG interpretation made simple. The language is easy. The format is like no other book unless you are familiar with programmed learning. The illustrations on every page help you to understand and remember. And the author has a delightful sense of humor. I learned from the 1st edition back the the 70's, as I recall, and it was my go-to book back then. Lately, I've been working with new nurses and student nurses who are asking a lot of questions. So I ordered this latest edition for their use as well as mine. It has lots of updates and I'm learning more than I expected. It's a great resource!

Best Cardiology Book

I am a paramedic who works with a rescue squad in NC. When I went through my medic class cardiology was emphasized but was not taught up to the standard we needed, leaving most of us with a sub-par knowledge base. A friend recommended this book and after reading it I agree with him. This is the best book on the market right now. Buy it and you wont regret it.

Easy Read

This book takes a complex concept and puts it into extremely easy terms to read. They reiterate every point multiple times so it is very easy to memorize and move on to the next topic.

Happy :)

Very useful book for beginners. Book in good shape. Arrived on right date.

EKG in simple terms

I have been through several EKG courses online and also 8 class, I have to say that this book has been really useful and super easy to understand the concepts

This is the EKG book every clinician should own

When students ask me how I got so good at reading EKG's I refer them to this book. It explains everything in an easy format and gives knowledge that clinicians can use to identify cardiac issues. Worth every cent.

Great book

Very happy to have purchased this. Very nice descriptions, and easy to understand. Awesome book.

Great reference for anyone trying to learn how to read ...

Great reference for anyone trying to learn how to read ECG's. The author is great at "dumbing down" the information so to speak which helps make the concepts very understandable. The book is also filled with helpful pictures. Overall, I'd highly recommend this book.

this book is a must for learning the basics of reading EKGs

As a medical student, this book was gold. It was so easy and quick to read, taught all the basics with a logical organization. I think my grandmother could read this and understand the basics of EKGs

You will not regret

One of the best resources that I ever seen

Good for beginners

This book is very informative and breaks the information down to easily understand. A necessity for people new to electrophysiology.

Easy to understand and yet detailed enough for reference

I am a pharmacist and I don't read EKG often. I am trying to refresh myself since I need to re-certify ACLS. I have forgotten most of my EKG and this book is a good refresher. I feel more confident now to read EKG (even I don't have to since it is outside of my scope of practice.) I definitely recommend this book.

Very good

It very good helper. I used to have one, but I lost it.

Rapid indeed

Did y'all hear that Dubin was caught with child pornography? It might be just a rumor or it might be true but this book made EKGs easy to understand and read so props to Dubin for that (not the child pornography)

in great condition too

THISBOOK IS AWSOME!!!! It came really fast..in great condition too. I'm an EMT...in AEMT class,,,,,This book is so simple..the way it breaks it down,,,,,makes learning the rythms super easy as well as understanding the entire cardiac system!!!

Easy for nurses

From a nursing point this book is awesome I understand EKGs finally! Thank you

Great Book

I was told by many paramedics to read this book BEFORE taking an EKG class. I'm glad I listened. It completely breaks down the concepts into a simple, easy to understand format. It can be a bit dry and you need to take a lot of breaks to get through the book, but it makes it so simple to understand. I would highly recommend this book.

GET THIS BOOK!!!

It doesn't get any better for learning EKGs and heart physiology. I wish I had this in school. The learning method is so easy. If only all medical subjects were taught this way. This is an absolute must-have for medical providers and students.

Tons of information

Good value for a reference book

Best EKG book I've encountered.

You need to read this from beginning to end, not skip around or just glance at some of the pages. It is incremental or programmed learning. I made very good impressions on all the cardiologists in medical school and residency because of having read through this book beforehand. All first-year med students should get this book and read it from cover to cover. Why not wait till 2nd or 3rd year? Because then you will have no time. I know, 1st year is a total killer, but you still should do this. Or read it during the summer between 1st and 2nd year. Be sure to start on page 1 and work your way through to the very last page. Note, the speed of learning increases dramatically as you go through the book, and so you really have to pick up your pace as you progress. The first pages are ultra-easy but don't get the idea the whole book will be that way. It gets harder and harder as you approach the end.

The teaching methodology used is just amazing

Hello: The most important reason I bought Dr. Dubin's Rapid Interpretation of EKG's was because I knew nothing about EKG's, and I wanted to learn not the basics, but the most important aspects of EKG. I am an EMT-Basic, but I often work on EMS with EMT-Paramedic level fellows, so my contact with EKG and patients with heart disease is very common. Looking for the wide variety of EKG books available, I realized that I needed a book that could not only teach the topics I really needed, but that would do it in such an easy way that an EKG newbie like me could end up understanding complex things as myocardial infarction and heart axis. Dr. Dubin uses a very interesting methodology for teaching. Each page of this book has a highly detailed practical illustration, and the rest of the page is composed of 3 o 4 parragraphs where, using the most practical language available, he explains the concepts related to the illustration. It is impressive how Dr. Dubin manages to explain complicated things so easily by using the detailed illustrations and the correct language. What's more, Dr. Dubin focuses on making the reader understand why an EKG tracing looks the way it does, and does not rely on memorization of the morphology of waves to justify a diagnose. This is critically important, because once you see an EKG tracing, you clearly understand the details of the pathology showed and that gives you a precise idea of what's happening inside that patient's heart and what treatment can help the patient's outcome. If you want to introduct yourself into EKG's, then this is the book you need. But don't misunderstand, this book is not basic, it really deals with complex topics too; the thing is that they seem so easy... This book has really helped me perform better on my job in the pre-hospital setting, and I'm really grateful about that.

Breaks it down for you step by step! Super easy to understand finally!!!

Most amazing book for a nurse!!!! Must have!!!!

Great Condition

I got this book used and it was the best idea ever. This book can end up being very expensive if you buy it brand new. At first, I was a little paranoid about buying a used book, but once I received my copy I had no complaints. The book looked practically new. I would highly recommend buying used to anyone who asks.

Great Resource/Teaching tool

It is a general overview and basic reference for any medical professional that must interpret EKGs, and it is a great learning tool for newcomers to the medical field. It breaks things down to rudimentary components, but it ensures you have the talents that you will need when you are working or in the clinical setting.

staple to have

good staple book to have.

A Must HAVE!

For anyone in the medical field, I would buy this book or any variation of this book. Understanding EKGs are critical and this book is a great resources. It explains EKGs quick and clearly.

Just what I needed!

Our medical school has its own way of teaching EKGs and it just wasn't working for me. I need a text that would spell things out in simple terms so that I had a strong foundation to build on. That's exactly what I got here. This book was recommended to me my several residents and attendings - glad I listened.

VERY USEFUL

if you are taking a cardiopulmonary or cardiac related class, BUY THIS BOOK! It makes everything clear, easy to understand, and is a quick read. It is also a great resource to reference back to because of its ability to boil everything down to the fundamentals and then build on that foundation.

Perfect EKG book

Very easy to read, and explains the concepts much more clearly than other texts. Mine came undamaged, and clearly brand new.

AWESOME!

I used this as a student nurse. When I graduated I was selling all of my old books but could not part with this one. I plan to use it when I get certified in ACLS.

Must have

I had this before and somehow replaced it. This is a must have for medical professionals if you encounter eggs in your practice. Good reference and great refresher.

Good book, worth buying

Great for being able to teach oneself how to interpret EKG. This book was an invaluable resource for my EKG course and giving me the necessary information to decipher the processes behind how EKGs were made and used for interpretation. I highly recommend this book for anyone completely lost to understanding EKGs and needing an easy straight forward guide to interpreting them. This book is an extremely quick read too considering how it is organized

Gold standard

Extremely well made, If you have a small background knowledge of A&P you will understand the information well and learn a ton!

Awesome!!

This book is fantastic. I am not on a tele unit or deal with ECG's on a regular basis so I was looking for a good book to prepare me for a basic ECG course. One of my ICU friends recommended this. It explains everything in a simplified way, and the pictures help you remember little things. I tell everyone about this book!!

Exactly what I needed

This book is the real deal! Came in a day quicker than expected too.

best EKG book ever

I absolutely love Dr. Dubin. The way he explains EKG makes a world of a difference in understanding the concepts. Once you understand the concepts you can then go onto the harder nitty gritty stuff. He makes you learn EKG so that you can apply it better. This book might not be good if you are advanced in EKG but for the student who wants to understand it and apply it, as well as save their behind from failing their EKG class; this book is definitely it!

Good book

Very helpful book

Excellent Supplement for Medical Student Education

I am a first year medical student, and bought this book on the advice of a second year. It has saved me during our cardio block. Our instructors don't teach EKGs very well, and this book explains them very clearly. It is also a pretty quick read, and works very well to help you learn and understand the material, not just memorize it. Buy this book!

Very helpful book on the basics of EKG interpretation.

Very helpful book to read for the basics of EKG interpretation. Would recommend it to anyone who has a work need to read them. It is very easy to read.

Programmed text

Perfect way to learn EKG. I give it to all graduating medical field students.

The only 12 lead book most of us really need.

If you are trying to figure out 12 lead, just buy this one book. It is all most of us really need. If you aspire to electrophysiology, you will want & need more eventually, but the meat and potatoes of this book, in my opinion, is where to start.

Must-have for anyone working with cardiac patients.

Bought this in nursing school and the first half of the book came in very handy. Now I work on a cardiac floor where all my patients are on telemetry and I have to understand a lot more than the basic rhythms you learn for the NCLEX. This has been a great resource, the format is straightforward and interactive enough to keep my attention. I'll be using this for many years to come.

Still just as good

Dubin is an old standby. I got to study for the boards, haven't read it since med school. It is just as good as 20 years ago -- fast paced, just enough depth, teaches the basics of EKG reading as well as clinically important correlations

Had to replace my old one as I had worn ...

Had to replace my old one as I had worn it out. I had on my desk at work and would hand it to people I was training that had trouble with my explanations. They usually would then buy their own.

Good for basic EKG interpretation

Bought this book for my daughter who is finishing nursing school. Thought this would be good for her to review the basics on EKG and rhythm strip interpretation. This book is often used by medical students just starting to learn about EKG reading. Good place to start.

Helpful product

Well worth it book

From elementary school to residency.

It is a great book for starters and for residents trying to get a better understanding of your patients cardia activities. Simple drawings, large fonts, really easy to read. You can devour it in one or two nights. I really recommend it, specially for medical students so they can get good foundations and don't have to do like me, and start learning all over again during my residency.

Excellent book!

Received this book yesterday and just finished reading Chapter 1. This is the best EKG interpretation product I’ve gotten. So easy to comprehend. I’m sure after finishing this book I’ll be excellent in interpreting EKG. So satisfied!

the book itself is excellent and easy to understand

OK, so when I bought this book I didn't know the author was a pedo- so gross. That being said, the book itself is excellent and easy to understand. I just started working in EP and could not do without it.

Well-written, easy to understand

This book was required reading for the cardiology module of my PA program. It was well worth the money and time. Dubin does a wonderful job explaining EKG's with colorful illustrations and even a little humor. I highly recommend for anyone who may be struggling to read EKG's. Its a great reference to have!

Makes me excited to read EKGs!!

This book is so well written and simplified that you are guaranteed to understand the material. The way it's written it even makes EKGs interesting if that's possible haha. I plan on reading this over and over to make sure I master this stuff and look smart on rounds and when consulting cardio

Great to keep around! 2 generations in a row!

Even my dad used this book when he was in medic school. You'll feel like a 3rd grader reading it at first but you warm up to it. it's a great reference to keep around! one can never be too good at reading EKG's in the emergency medicine world!

Great book for a beginner

This is a really clear and helpful book! Also it's fun to read (or as fun as reading a textbook can be!). The author uses a very friendly style which makes it enjoyable for me, but is also very thorough. There is definitely a reason it has been in print for several decades!

EKG

This helped me learn EKG pronto!

I have learned so much!!

Bought this book because it was recommended to me by a coworker. This book is very easy to read. I love it because it not only teaches you how to identify rhythms, but teaches you the electrophysiology behind the rhythm and WHY it's happening. It starts with the basics and has illustrations on every page. It also has fill in the blanks as you go to help you retain the information you are learning.

Awesome book

Instructor suggested this book and It definitely helped with understanding most concepts regarding EKGs

Classic book for any student who wants to learn how to proficiently interpret EKG's. I originally purchased one of the older versions, but ended up buying this version because it had more clear explanations and color pictures!

Easy ECG interpretation

teaching my son how to read ecgs. I used in medical school and still the gold standard.

good read

i love the reinforcement of previous page material in the pages after and how it engages you really to the material. it's also not too packed up in each page so it's easy on the eyes. very easy casual while accurate/informative reading too. love it.

A MUST HAVE!

This book is THE ONE to have for class and for reference for years to come. A great investment. Don't pass this one up!

Med Student Must Have

If you’re a med student - buy it. This book does a great job at driving home the big messages and even explaining some minutia. EACH page has essentially ~a slide~ with an explanation underneath it. They also sprinkle in practice questions to continue reinforcement.

Must have for all RNs and MDs

Excellent review and website.

Very easy format to learn with!

I am an RN of 20 years, who is going back to work in critical care after about 5 years away. This is a great refresher. It explains the reason behind the arrhythmias, and easy ways to remember them. Also explains how to read and understand 12 leads. Great book!

Dubin can teach ANYONE to read EKGs

Most people in the medical profession will know what you are talking about if you just say "Dubin's" because there is a good chance that they've read it too. The book may have all the answers right next to the questions, but the repetition in the book helps you remember concepts. Even if you have no medical background, this book will give you a great understanding of EKGs.

Best text book!!

Easy to read and love the pictures that explain and reinforce the concept introduced on each page. You are introduced to a concept, tested on it and then it is reinforced with additional notes. I wish all text books were like this.

Aka "Reading EKG for dummies" which is a good thing ! If your learning ekg for the first time, this is the book. Dumbs it down and explains it without all the confusion. Very repetitive so you get the basics down before moving on to the next concept.. very easy and humorous read :)

This is the gold standard

If you are "Learning" EKGs this the book you need if you are going to be a cardiologist or cardiovascular surgeon go to med school. This will give you the basics you need so when your in class the instructor doesnt leave you in the dust.

best plain language beginner EKG book hands down.

PA student review: awesome book with simple and easy to understand teaching for beginners. I am a visual learner and the pictures help a lot. Would give it more stars if I could. Well worth reading several times as you are learning!

Simple and Concise

Explained simply and the practice of writing answers in this workbook helps to put the principles to memory.

Great book, especially for beginners!

Great ekg learning manual!

Excellent

I am very happy with my book. It is very clear and helpful for anyone trying to learn the ins and outs of EKGs. There are pictures and explanations, along with further in depth explanations to make sure the reader understands. There is an awesome index in the back of the book to help guide the reader along. I would highly recommend this book to any student or person who is interested in EKGs and the heart.

Solid Book for EKGs and Related Basic Principles

As a first year medical student, I must say that this book really is making EKGs a lot easier to understand. Professors are pressed for time in class, and don't always hit on every detail. This book breaks down the big ideas into essentially one big concept per page, but repeats the details enough to hammer them into your brain. The organization of the book is also well thought out.

Great learning material

This is probably one of the best books that I've ever gotten for academic purposes. It's a classic that has been around forever, yet it won't go out of date any time soon. If you're looking for a book to teach yourself EKG interpretation, this is definitely the one to buy.

Good for people who need a WHY behind rhythms

Definitely worth reading. Just when you’re like “not sure I need to know all this...?” It suddenly clicks and you’re like “ohhhh that’s why that’s important!!”. Good for people who need to know WHY a rhythm is happening

Buy It

I wish I bought this book sooner. I'm halfway through nursing school and this book is the best book I have read so far. It is so easy to follow and understand. I feel so much more confident with the knowledge this book has given me and I'm only halfway through it. I wish my med/surg books were written in this fashion. Buy it, you will not regret it.

I had a hard time reading EKG's until I had this book which made things crystal clear in an easy to read fashion

A must for medical school students. I had a hard time reading EKG's until I had this book which made things crystal clear in an easy to read fashion.

I was satisified

Made it easier to understand the wave forms for EKGs, looks of diagrams.

Excellent Resource/Learning Tool

The author does an excellent job teaching this material. I highly encourage all medical students, nursing students, and paramedic students to utilize this tool. Chapter 1 is elementary and could be reduced, but the remainder of the book is great.

This book takes complex concepts and lays them out in a very easy to read format

This book is a MUST HAVE for understanding cardiac dysrhythmias, and reading EKGs. This book takes complex concepts and lays them out in a very easy to read format. If you're struggling with trying to read/understand EKG strips this is the book to get! I'm using it to review for the NCLEX, but I wish I had it during MedSurg!!

EKG’s You have the know The basics!

I’m studying for Medical Assistant and learning about EKG’s is part of my course. I struggled trying to understand how it all works this book really helped, it allowed me to get a better understanding of how the P QRS T waves work. I now know how to read a rhythm strip.

The best EKG instruction book, ever

Dr Dubin takes the student from basic concepts through the minutiae of advanced interpretation....as far as you would like to go, in clear, understandable, and logical steps. I recommend it for all my students interested in learning more about EKG interpretation and cardiac conduction.

Great book for peace of mind

Able to read EKG's with some competency, gained great peace of mind from being able to tell nothing serious was coming up on the monitor

Gift for a friend.

A friend is a critical care nurse and has loved this book as a resourse forever. I borrowed it from her and could not find it when she wanted to use it. Amazon sent it in a couple of days and she felt like she had an old friend back.

Good

Came quickly, would recommend. Helpful!

Highly recommended

Totally recommend for learning EKGs from the ground up. Clear. Approachable. Easy to understand. Checks your understanding as you go along. And my gawd those fill-in-the-blanks w the answers provided in the margin....I loves me some Sesame Street type learning.

... and finally bought a copy to keep on hand- easy to read and hands down most helpful book about

Used this book in PA school to learn ekgs and finally bought a copy to keep on hand- easy to read and hands down most helpful book about ekgs

Great book

Best book ever to understand and interpret EKG's. The book is actually very enjoyable to read. It is very simple and straight to the point without all the fluff that most books have. I can honestly say that I love this book.

Excellent resource!

Fantastic resource for those who want to learn to read an ECG from scratch, and also for those who are no stranger to ECG but want to hone their skills, this book covers it all! It's written in an easy to read format, it's not overly technical, and the author constantly refers back to old topics/concepts when introducing new ones, so you never forget what you've already learned and can relate the old with the new! Great resource for medical students, nursing students, PA students, or even medical residents!

I needed a review for strip reading. It worked, because I could read the strips for Acls because I understood what I was seeing instead of just memorization.

Dubin is a classic

This book is a great intro to EKGs. . . it gives you a really good method to read them and also has little blanks in the text that you are supposed to fill in to keep you engaged. The quick guides at the back are useful too.

and not like any other text book I've ever had

There's a picture on every page! And fill-in the blanks! and the book tells you when to review a section! It's humorous and basic, and not like any other text book I've ever had. So far practical.

Great book

I choose five stars bc this book is great for first time learners and as a reference book. I am a nurse practitioner and do not read ECGs daily so I use this as a quick when needed. I would recommend reading throughout the entire book to lay down a foundation and make referencing at later dates easier, and faster. This would be great for NPs, PAs, and any nurse working in units such as the ER, ICU, or CICU.

About as simplistic (thank you!) as you can get!

I purchased this book to help me understand EKG strips in the nursing program at school. It was a suggested read by my son who regulates pacemakers. He said it got him through the beginning of his studies. This book is awesome!

Excellent

I bought this book once I saw the one at the college bookstore at 4 times the price. When I received it I was surprised. It was brand new. even still wrapped in it's factory plastic wrap. I would definately buy from this seller in the future.

great for beginners

This is a great book for beginners, especially paramedic students. I bought this in medic school and it put me above and beyond the rest of my classmates. Awesome book, I recommend it all the time.

Definitely buy

The best book you can buy to learn about EKG's

Excellent

Excellent introduction to basic ekg

A classic volume.

Comprehensive and pertinent information on ekg interpretation.

Cheap, Easy to Understand, Well Thought Out

This book allows anyone who has had high school biology to be able to read a 12 lead EKG. The book feels thick, but has a diagram on each page that takes up half of each page. Worth every penny.

It was better then any of our other resources

One of my close Nursing school friends and I used this book to study for our acute care and AcLS course. It was better then any of our other resources. Only problem was it was her book. After I landed a telemetry nurse job and started my EKG certification, I immediately logged on and purchased my own copy.... This book will forever be one of those references you will want to hang on to...... If you haven't alrdy bought all those small tiny guide books in nursing school DONT waiste your $.,,, get this instead ! You won't be sorry.......

Pleasure to read, you’ll enjoy the breaks with humor.

Without a doubt the most easily explained, concise, and enjoyable EKG book! Refresher for me, but wish I had this in the very beginning!

This is a really awesome book. Way more information than I expected and it's presented in a very fundamental way that is easy to understand. I would recommend this to anyone.

fantastic

I really learned from this book. Fast relatively easy read in a learning style designed to imprint itself into your memory. It emphasizes understanding concepts. This is a better method for me than rote memorization.

Rapid EKG Interpretation

This amazing book was shipped to me in the exact condition as I expected it to be-new. It came quickly and with no problems. This is a great book that helps those who are just learning about EKG's in a simple, concise and accurate manner.

Easy to learn

With step-by-step instructions, the author simplifies EKG. The ideas are gradually introduced and then explained in more detail so that it gets to the complicated ideas with a great build-up. Very nice style of teaching.

A great book, a great learning resource

A great book, a great learning resource, marred for me only for the fact that Dubin was prosecuted for child porn. Now that's all I can think about when I read it...gross.
