This book takes you through how to install python and how to do some very simples statistics. It discusses machine learning concepts, and would perhaps be useful as a conceptual reference. However it contains no coding examples at all for the vast majority of methods and packages/ libraries it discusses. The "step-by-step" guide consists of, "Here is how to get started, and this is a list of things you should probably try and learn about somewhere else. Good luck!" I guess you get what you pay for.
