Purrfect Kill (The Mysteries of Max Book 17)

This Mysteries of Max tale gave Max lots of clues that left the list of possible suspects quite long. The actual evil doer was one I expected at the beginning but then crossed off the list. As I focused on the other possibilities, I found plenty of motives for all of them. On another note, Gran outdoes herself with the embarrassing calamities she gets up to. I would never have guessed this would be a possible description for Gran to pull off. This is a fairly quick read. It is also one you need to read to believe....and even then you still.might not believe it. All of Maxes tales can be read as standalones. If you are like me and get invested in the characters and their lives, this is a good set to start with the first and read your way through. There are so many changes and so much growth in the characters lives, it's the best way to enjoy it.

From the prolific writer(s) Nic Saint comes another murder puzzle for Max, Dooley, Brutus & Harriet, feline consultants of Hampton Cove's finest. Being a celebrity in the small town can be deadly. Chickie Hays is rehearsing a new routine for her tour touting her new album. But she doesn't get far as someone has strangled her. While Odelia & Chase look for clues, Gran gets bitten by the show biz bug, claiming she's going to be the next Beyonce. Not only does Tex lose his receptionist but Gran had been the backing vocalist for his group. Singing Doctors. When Tex & Gran score gigs for the Mayor's party honouring Chickie's ex, Charlie Dieber plus her former manager, Odelia finds herself at a loss for suspects. It's not Olaf, the stalker fan. Could it be Charlie's girlfriend who used to be Chickie's BFF? Even Max & the gang can't dig up any leads. With so many potential suspects, will this be the case Max can't crack?

As usual, I loved the latest "Max" book! The plot is always intriguing and I am sooo jealous that I cannot talk to animals. I love the clever dialogue between the 4 feline pals, as well as Max's musings. I look forward to the next installment of these charming tales!

Gran is such a character, the whole family is, including the fur babies. Love the zany antics and funny things they do. The way they solve the mysteries . Such enjoyable read.

Absolutely love Max & crew! As soon as a new book comes out, anything else gets put on hold! Sometimes I wish I could understand my cat. I'm sure she would adore me as this crew adores their humans!

I’ve read all of them and love them all. I can see the situations with the cats and humans and actually sometimes just sit and laugh so hard. I read them so fast, and always can’t wait for the next one. I hope he never stops writing them.

All the Max books are wonderful and Perfect Kill was amazing! I love this series!

Yes this was mostly focused on the cats but it just failed to somehow give off the right vibes. The humour felt flat, the antics fell short and the intrigue felt off. The plot was a good one. The murder of a pop sensation. The young woman could only have been killed by someone in the house at the time of her death (something that seemed to have been forgotten during the investigation). All in all it just made for a bit of a disappointment. Hope the next one is better. Maybe a kitten (that Harriet takes a shine too) could bring in a spark that was missing.

This was a fantastic Max mystery! I really enjoyed the story line in this one. Dooley is such a naive little darling that his character always makes me chuckle. Always find myself unable to put this mystery down once I start reading. I've enjoyed them right from the 1st book.

I have read all of the "mystery of Max" and loved all of them. I have read all of the "Mysteries of Max" books and love all of them. No, they are not a Sherlock Holmes type book but are more on the light side. I cannot wait for the next one. Keep them coming please.

You never know when something you do or say will hurt someone. Hope you have Holly around to straighten things out. Each suspect had a reason and I didn’t guess who until the end. This was a very interesting story and I highly recommend the book.

Four Cats meet a peacock in the course of investigating a murder. Gran and Tex perform at a concert. The burglars try again but are no match for cats. Murder solved and life returns to normal .

Wonderful cats and reading about the help they give with the clues. Interesting murder with characters that fit the crime. Extra crime for comic relief is added benefit.

Great book, off beat story and zany cats, a reporter who helps her policeman significant other, a grandma who wants to become the next "Beyonce" and murder. All make a great story

Max and his friends are such good mystery solvers for their human owner. This one was a really good mystery that keeps you guessing. Love all 17 books

A hot young singer is found dead in her room. Did a stalker take obsession too far? Was money the motive? Will Vesta be the next Beyonce?

I love this series. Max is a wonderful cat. All the characters are great! One of my favorite series, I have read every book and look forward to more from this author!

The cats are charmers, and so are their people. I really like the fantasy element here, and it is very entertaining. Good reading!!

Perfect Kill, perfect book. Your best one yet ! The story got a little more complicated then earlier books, but I loved it.

I highly recommend this wonderful mystery book. Loved all the characters, especially the cats and other animals. Well written story.
