I just received my copy a few days ago and Love IT!! The addition of the artistically curated handwritten letters adds a whole new dimension to the reading of this novel. I was transported to a time long ago where words and communication were so important to the daily lives of the characters. Simpler times indeed! The research and unique details with watermarks, stains, crossed out inked passages, and period-accurate styling of addresses and other details are stunning. You will not be disappointed!

This edition of Pride and Prejudice is absolutely delightful! Reading the letters along with the story is a unique and interactive way to participate more in reading. My only issue with the book is the small print, which really is not the fault of the book but the age of my eyes. I solved the problem by putting all of Jane Austin's books on my kindle and am quite happy with the solution. I would also note that it's interesting to read a book you read long ago. One's perceptions change as you become of a certain age. It has been a wonderful read all over again.

This is one of the most beautiful editions I've ever seen of "Pride and Prejudice". I admire the great work of Barbara Heller and her team experts in calligraphy to put together these collection of letters, which are key to the story. There was a lot of research of antique letters in order to find the best handwriting for each character. Of course that the best one is from Mr. Darcy (is the longest in the novel) and the caligraphy is so awesome and stylish. Originally, Jane Austen wrote "First Impressions" between 1796 and 1797 as a series of letters. Her father tried to offer the manuscript to an editor, who never read it. Later, while living in Chawton Cottage, Jane edited her manuscript, changing it into a novel, and the title we know nowadays. In this edition, there's a lot of work on the letters, the style of handwriting for each character, the marks of ink and wax seal, the address and postal marks according to real post usage. Letters are key around Jane Austen. They're the main source to know about her, her writing, her life, her family, etc. Letters are key in most of her novels, so I thank Barbara Heller who made all this possible in order to make an idea come true.

The book is packaged well. Although the enclosed letters do not have that old world "feel"; the paper is the same texture even though written by different people. They seem less historic/aged than I thought they could. It is a great gift for someone who reads Austen's novel more than once! I purchased the book as a gift for such a person and I trust she will appreciate the uniqueness of the book and its letters from the characters. The novel is complete. However, the font is really small. But as I said, if the receiver of the book loves Jane Austen, it should not matter much.

I bought this as a gift for my niece who is a big P & P fan. She loves the book and says that the handwritten letters are fantastic!!! She told me that it is a very special gift. I highly recommend for any Jane Austen fans.

At first, I thought the letters were just there and weren't included actually in the text of the book, but that was not the case! It is the complete novel, as if normally bought. The letters are placed in the correct location for the story but if you would like to just keep reading you can ignore the letters and push on. *WARNING THOUGH!* Sometimes you may want to be careful how you hold the book because if you tip it over top first the letters could fall out. They are in a little pocket but not exactly tightly put in there. So just be aware of that!

Ok so I might already have owned multiple different copies of Pride and Prejudice, but it definitely didn't stop me from buying this as soon as I knew it was a thing. It's so cool to be able to unfold and read the beautiful calligraphy in these letters. It makes the characters seem even more real than before. This came very nicely packaged and protected, and is a beautiful book. LOVE THE LETTERS!

I love, love, love this edition with the letters! Even though, I know they’re copies, they (the letters) give the reader feeling of reading something very persona and real..... I feel myself being transported back into that time :) Thank you for the fantastic idea, so that we may fantasize how the times were, and how the characters lived their lives. I think Jane Austen would’ve been astonished and very pleased if she knew how we in 21st century love and admire her work so much. Beautiful edition, what a treat, thank you!

Just FYI, the text is REALLY small. And I mean, unusually so - I almost never wear magnifier glasses to read, but found it a necessity with this edition. Even with bright lighting, this P&P is visually rough going. The letters, however, are absolutely delightful. Worth the price, just for those!

I bought one for myself, of course. Although I read on Kindle (vision problems), this will stay on my bookshelf as a collector item--the included letters were a wonderful idea.

A favorite novel made even better by the handwritten letters! Loved it. I’ve read the book several times and watched various visual renditions of P&P over the years but this version was special. The letters made it an immersive experience and I was transported to another time while reading them.

As this will be a gift, I did not take it out of the cellophane wrapper but I can see how wonderful this book is going to be for my daughter-in-law who loves all things Jane Austen. Way too nice for a casual read, but perfect for an Austenphile and book collector.

Loved! Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book. The letters make the experience that much more charming. HOWEVER, the spine is really awful. The spine is awkward to hold because it’s over an inch long. It makes you think a child bound the book together for the first time and still needs to master the craft. I don’t see why it couldn’t have been better made. It would have been worth the full amount otherwise. I wonder if I paid too much.

I haven't read this book yet but the book looks like something you could fall in love with. It is a beautiful book with letters tucked in between certain pages. I am very anxious to read it. A beautiful centerpiece to a said table.

The uniqueness of reading each letter in the novel separately from the book itself made the experience so enjoyable! Holding a letter in your hand transported one back in time, and the replication of the letter writing and addressing was spot-on! For Austen lovers, this book is a must for any collection!

Amazing book - the story is of course a classic, but the feeling of holding these beautifully calligraphed letters in your hand rather than just reading them on the page is very immersive. The letters have different penmanship depending on (fictional) author. I also enjoyed the foreword!

I thoroughly enjoyed escaping to Longborn with this charming book as my guide. Each letter was created with an eye for detail, which brought me great delight. My copy is a treasured edition in my collection. I definitely suggest this book for any Pride and Prejudice fan.

Book arrived in pristine shape, wrapped in plastic. After opening, I immediately flipped to the first letters, to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out, the letters are a beautifully executed, visceral new way to re-experience a familiar classic. I love it!!

the book was beautiful! paper quality is through the roof and the book still contains the transcripts of the letters, which makes the slightly less legible letters readable! the letters are where they are mentioned, making it amazing to see a letter isn’t far from where you are. the only flaw i might find is that the envelopes holding the letters is made of thin parchment paper, which i’m afraid of ripping but if handled well, shouldn’t be an issue.

My favorite show is the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice. When I saw this I knew I had to get it. Reading the letters makes it feel more 'real' if you know what I mean. Good quality.

I have read Pride and Prejudice several times, but it had been a few years. I had forgotten how funny it is. The handwritten letters added to the pleasure and verisimilitude. This book was the perfect treat to myself during this coronavirus isolation.

It really is an immersive experience guaranteed to chase away the blues. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's interchanges never seemed so poignant. And I loved learning in Heller's introduction about how letters in the early 1800s were written, folded, post-marked, and carried by Royal Mail horse-drawn coaches. My beautifully bound copy now has a prominent place on my bookshelf and I am having copies sent to my young niece and the granddaughter of a friend who are avid Austen fans.

I really love epistolary books and I am a huge fan of Austen so I thought this would be awesome to add to my library! The CONCEPT is fabulous but the QUALITY of the materials is inferior and not a value for the money. The paper is so thin that you can see through the page you are reading...and looks as if they could easily be torn if not too cautious turning. Also, the letters themselves are printed on not the best paper...feels weird. Although, the cover is pretty, it is all very cheaply made. If I knew that it was MADE IN CHINA, I would have NEVER bought it. Cannot even say that you get what you pay for because I paid too much.

This edition is so beautiful, there’s so much skill and effort put into not just replicating the writing styles of the time period but also in making sure that each character’s handwriting is distinct and fitting to their personality and status in the world. Lovely, lovely work.

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book and I own many different editions, but this one, by far, is the most special. Barbara Heller has created a truly brilliant reading experience, both meticulously researched and beautifully executed, with these letters. By unfolding (and refolding!) the letters along with the characters, it transports you right into the 1800s, allowing for an immersive and very fun journey through Pride and Prejudice. Physically holding them, especially the iconic Darcy and Mrs. Gardiner letters, you can easily imagine yourself right inside of the story. The market is fairly saturated with P&P and P&P-inspired books, but this is one of the true must-haves. Barbara Heller has given us a gorgeous book, the perfect gift for every Janeite.

Lovely book. BUT- the type is very small- it is very difficult to read, and I say that having no vision issues. If you’re an Austin fan, yes, add this to your collection. Just don’t plan on actually reading it, you’ll need a copy of P&P with larger type.

As a huge Jane Austen fan, the letters are so fun to unfold, read and touch, the calligraphy and watermarks feel authentic. Looking forward to sharing the book with my sisters, who also share my passion for Jane Austen.

The letters included in the book are exact copies of the letters contained on the pages. They are thick and scattered throughout in parchment sleeves. They make it cumbersome to flip through , and impossible to lay the book open on any page. I removed every letter so that I could read the book comfortably. I’m saving them to replace when I donate this ridiculously expensive book to the library. They will not be in correct order at all because they are not numbered, but returning them to correct order will be the headache of the next owner.

Simply a beautiful book with gorgeous letters! One thing is the pages (not letters) are very thin like you commonly see in a bible but otherwise a definite recommendation!

This is a charming idea, and very well executed. The letters are in pockets in appropriate places in the book. They are printed from hand-written letters, written by calligraphers using period-appropriate hands. They appear handwritten unless you get close enough to see the printing dots. The attention to detail is superb, including period-appropriate post marks and traces of wax seals. They are even folded according to the customs of the period! Well done indeed. If there's a criticism, perhaps they are written a bit neater than one would expect in real life, but still there are corrections and cross-outs and ink blots to be had, so I can't complain too much. Aside from the letters, the book itself is very nicely bound and printed. I have several copies of "Pride and Prejudice" already, ranging from ratty reading copies to fancy bound ones, and this one is certainly worth adding to the collection. Anyone wondering if this would be a good gift for an Austen-mad friend, yes, it will be. Anyone who loves Jane Austen is going to love this, almost guaranteed. I should also mention that where the editor has invented words to flesh out the letters (some of the letters are referred to in the original text but not quoted verbatim, so she had to embellish), it fits very well. I have not yet read them all, but the ones I've been through have no jarring anachronisms.

If I could give this book one hundred stars I would. Of course most people know the story of Pride and Predjudice , it is virtually perfect in it's construction already but this edition contains all of the letters that are in the text as actual real objects. So read the letter Jane sends home to tell them she is ill after travelling in the rain to Netherfield (Much to Mrs Bennet's delight) , read Mr Collin's letter arranging to visit and make ammends for the entailment, read Lydia's elopement note from Brighton but most importantly of all read Darcy's letter to Elizabeth explaining his relationship with Wickham that begins to turn the tide in his favour. My husband jokingly said this is like "The Jolly Postman" for adults and in a way it is but it is so beautifully presented with each handwritten letter in a silken envelope in it's rightly place in the narrative that it is so much more than just a gimmick. If you are a fan of Austen then you will also understand that absolute delight that comes from immersing yourself even deeper into this wonderful story.

Just received this book. It’s a nice idea and while I have no doubt I’ll enjoy reading it, the paper is very thin and the text is way too small for a book this size. It’s also a lousy typographic job, in the printing or design, not sure which. The text does not start at the same height at each page, much worse, the text does not always line up for page to page, so that the type shows through between the lines on some pages. Sorry, this is basic stuff and shouldn’t happen. The letters are legible, they are a nice touch.

It is just beautiful! This book is stunning, the letters are folded beautifully and written clearly, certainly seeming authentic. The cover too is beautiful, and the introduction was a nice idea. The text is a little small in the book and the pages a bit thin, so if your eyesight is poor or you damage books easily maybe this isn’t for you, but for me it is great!

There's an added level of thrill when you overcome your terror that once unfolded you'll never manage to fold it up again, and you lift The Letter out of its protective pouch and read it as Lizzy would have read it. All the letters are delightfully done. This really is an enhancement to a favourite book.

If you are only going to purchase one edition of this book to keep and treasure. Then this is a really fine one to consider as it is beautifully produced. It includes a facsimile of the actual letters in each section of the book, there are 11 in total. The hard jacket is decorated in cream, blue and gold, it looks exquisite. It came in plastic wrap to protect it whilst in transit, the outer jacket is very sturdily constructed and has a quote on the back. Very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend to any book collector of lovely editions or an Austen fan.

I love this book anyway but to be able to read the letters as the characters would is great. The letters almost look original, the print is very good. And the paper is excellent quality. Well worth the money for a fan.

I bought this for my daughter who loves the story. She loves the idea of the letters, but was disappointed as some of the pages came creased. I didn’t feel it worth going to the effort of sending it back for that though as she just wanted to get started reading it. The pages are very thin though, so you need to be careful when reading.

The book is exquisitely printed and bound on fine paper and is cleverly designed so that, even with the inserts for the letters, it sits comfortably in your hands. It is a thing of beauty, and, of course, therefore, a joy for ever! The research that has gone into this beautiful project is careful and thorough. The handwriting chosen for each character is authentic and expertly done. Of course, the letters are printed, but the frisson of opening Darcy's letter cannot be matched. Congratulations!

Me encanta!! Aunque si dudo un poco si son impresas la verdad, no creo que sean a mano pero aún así lo volvería a comprar una y otra vez!! Es otra experiencia totalmente diferente leer así el libro. Solo ojo, esta súper grueso por las cartas así que si lo quieren cuidar como yo, no es de fácil transportación. El tamaño viene siendo de un libro normal más toda la sección azul extra, pero en realidad no es molestia, solo para que se calcule al momento de adquirirlo. Recomendado, es de las mejores compras que he hecho

I love it !!! The book's presentation is beautiful and the letters too each charater has a writing style I loved Lydia s letter because is on a paper magazine, Mr Darcy letter is huge!!! And with the fine writing you would expect, the letter from Jane with the deathful news to Lizzy is remarkably ill as the book says , I loved all those details! although I would say maybe the paper doesn't look exactly as a paper of that time, the letters at the text in the book are small ,if you don't understand italics don't worry the letters are in the book text and also as individual letters I recomend this to all the people who love pride and prejudice it's a good collection book!!! ¡Lo ame! La portada del libro y su presentacion son hermosas ¡y las cartas tambien! Aunque talvez no se ven tan antiguas o del tipo de papel de ese tiempo, cada persoanaje tiene in estilo de escritura propio acorde a su personaje , ame la carta de Lydia porque esta escrita detras de la hoja de una revista , la carta de Jane que le llega a Lizzy en lambton tiene la letra intelligible que see describe en el libro y la carta del sr Darcy es enorme y tiene muy bonita letra, ame todos esos detalles , la letra del texto es pequeña, si no entiendes cursiva no importa las cartas tambien estan en el texto del libro. recomiendolable para todos los amantes de orgullo y prejuicio y Jane Austen es un buen libro de collecion

The letters really promote an immersive experience. I was surprised when I almost didn't want to open Mr. Darcy's letter! I absolutely recommend this if you're a fan of the novel.

Livro muito bem feito. Edição realmente especial pra quem curte a obra. Fiquei muito satisfeita. As cartas são um toque legal. Único ponto negativo, como em todos os livros que reunem vários volumes em um só, é o tamanho um pouco pequeno das letras.

I honestly could not love this book more. Barbara Heller has given fans of Jane Austen, and of her novel "Pride and Prejudice" in particular, the most visceral experience possible. A very beautiful edition of my favourite book. Collectors will especially love it. The letters are of fine quality, giving them a look of aged paper. If I have one complaint, it would be that the font used in the book is very tiny—difficult for those with vision issues. I wouldn’t use this as a reader’s version. I will stick to my Kindle for that where I can adjust the font. I’m happy to have this lovely version.

Si te gusta Orgullo y Prejuicio y coleccionas ediciones, buscas para un regalo especial a alguien fan de esta historia...es apuesta 100% segura. Todas las cartas que se leen en el libro están escritas "a mano" por los personajes, y cuando estás en el capítulo correspondiente, lees la carta (que están dobladas a la antigua usanza, por cierto) haciendo una experiencia inmersiva y encantadora. Sinceramente, son de esas ediciones que me sorprende que no cuesten un ojo de la cara, está bastante bien.

Best edition ever! The letters are simply amazing and full of details that make them so real! I love the way they are folded, the unique calligraphy for each character, also the spots and mistakes or corrections. It seems you really have a look at the pride and prejudice correspondence! What make this edition special is the cure and attention dedicated to expirience the 1800 taste for communication. The only flaw is the paper used to print the book: I guess to avoid to have a even bigger volume they decided to go for a very thin paper and a very small font size.. But you know what? For 9 euro who cares? I have other editions.. And this one is so original that will worth more than the 30 £ of the original price!

Libro bellissimo, copertina splendida e rigida, le lettere sono infilate all'interno di buste di plastica disseminate in tutto il volume. Il libro è arrivato nei tempi previsti, incelofanato e in perfette condizioni. Meraviglioso.

Honestly, I don't know if I will ever read this, since XIX century ladies' lives are just about the most boring setting I can imagine - but this publisher deserves the support, for having the courage for bringing a completely innovative and risky idea to the market. I just wish they printed, say Lovecraft like this. He has letters and notes a plenty. The calligraphy is flawless and the letters are folded-up almost origami-style, using forgotten methods, from before envelopes were commonplace. I was afraid I'd tear them up - luckily my girlfriend's grandfather taught her those folding techniques, when she was a child. In the age of ebooks and audiobooks being so convenient - paper books need to start bringing such unique ways of presenting their content, to stay relevant and desireable. I hope to see more fresh ideas like this, so I happily vote for this with my wallet.

I love him! It is very beautiful! Many years ago I saw this book in a Facebook post, since then I have searched for it without success. Now I am very very happy because it is in my collection. The quality is good, the covers is tough, it arrived quickly and in excellent condition.

This version of Pride and Prejudice is gorgeous. The letter pockets just add such a delightful surprise to this beloved classic. It's like living the book along with the characters.

Loved the letters that I could touch and read. Did not like the format of the text for the book. It was all compacted and hard to read. Letters in the text were not made to look different which would have been nice. Overall, happy with the book. Negative: Book was not packaged enough to reduce dents during delivery. Better packaging is a must.

Se lo regale a mi mama, quien no habla mucho de ingles pero le encanto por que conoce muy bien la historia y las cartas que tienen son un agasajo poder leerlas de esa forma

Está completamente hermoso. La edición es súper bonita y las cartas parecen reales. Llego en buenas condiciones y rápido. Lo recomiendo para fans de Orgullo y Prejuicio y esta súper genial.

El libro es hermoso, muy buena edición y las cartas son un plus que hace que te den más ganas de leer este libro. La única queja es que el servicio de transporte lo dejó en otra casa, muy lejos de la mía, en otra colonia, por suerte la persona que le llegó fue a entregármelo. Deberían pedir alguna identificación cuando entreguen algún paquete.
