This is easily one of the least useful language books I've tried to use. It is a huge step back from the first edition of this book, which was quite useful. For example, one of the early lessons asks you to translate from English to German sentences that include plural nouns (before learning anything about the plural) and verbs like "to like" and "to buy" before you even learn "I am" or anything about verbs at all. German is not easy generally, but this makes it much more frustrating than it needs to be.
Learning German? Grab this book!
Great for learning German! I bought this for winter 21 term for my first German class. The book is very useful and even though I have not started my class yet, I wanted to be ahead when class started. Always prep!!
Damaged book
The book content is fine, I like you can use the app with each chapter. The physical book was damaged upon arrival including the bends all along the spine and when I opened it about 1/3 of the cover is not attached to the spine at all.
the best German learning book for affordable price
Amazing for beginners.
Looking great so far!
I think this book is a great way and place to start to review the fundamentals of German, and then to continue on from there. Thanks for coming out with this book!
Unclear and confusing
I used to really like the practice makes perfect books - but the German one is very unclear and will jump into new grammar with no explanation. Exercise 5.2 for instance asks for indirect nouns in the accusative. With no explanation prior to this. The quality of the pages in the book is also quite poor. Wouldn't recommend.
Good as a tool for those in an accredited German language course
Definitely not a stand alone learning book, but I could see it being a good compliment to an actual course. You should have some understanding of German before using this book. I like how you can write in the book to do the exercises. It was difficult to figure out the grammar rules that go along with the exercises as they aren't explained well or at all in some cases. Everyone learns differently and if you are taking an actual German language course I could see this being a useful tool.

Dacht dat im een boek kocht maar zag te laat dat het een digitaal boek was, maar zo op eerste gezicht wel duidelijk. Gebruikt word het pad in April. Dan kan ik pas een oordeel geven of het bruikbaar was geweest. Maar nuttig is het zeker.
