Poster Art of the Disney Parks (A Disney Parks Souvenir Book)

This is a great book for any graphic designer or fan of the Disney parks. The book has a brief introduction to each of the sections (split up by each section of the park) and then goes into examples of posters from various parks. The printing is spectacular and the posters really shine when they are printed in the full page. I almost want to get another copy and frame some of them. The only down side is that it ends very abruptly. I thought there was going to be some kind of wrap up and some final words, but it just goes from a page of posters to the appendix. Overall, its a beautiful book and will be a great reference for my art!

A fantastic art table book for any hardcore Disneyphile, especially those that what that nostalgic feeling of their part visits. Love how they used the different art styles of the times. From Mid-century Modern to today's art style. A great use of study for me, as well just see what kind of poster they had for my favorite rides over the years. I can not imagine why. The copy I ordered at a great price from Amazon came only 10 days after ordering it, and that's due in part to a weekend being in the way. The book is MAGNIFICENT! I have always had a special place in my heart for the Disneyland Attraction posters, and a meticulously silk-screened print of my favorite (The original 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA exhibit that was in Tomorrowland from 1955 to 1966) hangs in my living room. This book shares hundreds of them from ALL the Disney parks, reproduced in a glorious art book manner. Look, it's only 144 pages yet weighs over 3 pounds from the heaviness of the glossy paper and the fancy art-house printing of it. Classy and high-quality! This is a wonderful, wonderful book.

I only gave it four stars, however, because: - There are no artist bios at all! Not ONE single page devoted to Bjorn Aaronson or Sam McKim? Heck, there isn't even a picture of an artist in the whole book. Why? This is a shocking omission I hope the authors remedy for future editions, because without insight into the creators, you gain no real understanding of the artistic process. - It needs more concept art and fewer modern posters. Again, the concept art gives you a window into the process and teases the reader with "what could have been." I know the Disney vaults contain thousands of these preliminary sketches, so why not include at least one example with every iconic poster? I would much see see more examples of this than some of the poorly drawn Toyko DisneySea posters (what were they thinking with the Mermaid Lagoon Theater poster?). In all, a good book to help you retain that Disney feeling, but one which falls short of its true potential.

This book is perfect as a coffee table book. It's quite large (larger than I expected), and has great pictures and details.

Like millions of people, I've been a fan of Disney parks since I first went to Disneyland in 1986. As a professional artist, I have always admired the poster art from their parks over the years and have often wanted many of them hanging on the walls in my studio. This book does an amazing job at showcasing the artwork of these beautiful posters. The quality of the images is top notch, the book is big enough so you see all the details, and it's great to see the pantheon of Disney park posters I never saw in the flesh from their parks all over the world. If you're either a Disney fan or an admirer of the dying art of poster illustration, this book is for you. Get it now before it goes out of print and costs 300$.

This book is absolutely amazing. If you are a Disney Park’s fan, then this book is a must have for your collection. Each picture is the highest of quality, and each has a date and the artist description. It also comes with a two sided poster, one of Pirates and one of the Disneyland Railroad. If I could give this book a 11/10, I definitely would.

I'd categorize this as an oversize format, I have to keep it on my shelf of taller books. But this is good news because the book boasts LOTS of BIG images. Love the iterations and sketch passes that are included, they represent the iterative process of designing and ideation very well. Many distinct styles of poster represented here. A great resource for visual/graphic designers - full of beautiful type, illustration, and print examples.

I am a Disney fanatic so I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this book for a couple of years. It certainly has lived up to my expectations and then some. It has quickly become the favorite book in my extensive Disney library. The quality of the printing is second to none. The colors are bright and the images crystal clear. It's as if they were able to print the book in HD! I love this book so much I ordered a second copy to take apart so I can frame some of the images. They are really that good. Hopefully they will release a sequel someday with even more amazing poster art.

This is a very cool book that shows the various poster art of the Disney Parks around the world. This is a very large (surface area wise) book, and features, on average, 4 pictures per page, about 2" x 3" each (pictures). It is also broken up by chapter (I.e. Main Street USA, Adventureland etc.) that includes the attractions in the these ones from parks all over the globe. A great purchase, especially for the current sale price!

As a fan of Disneyland, this is a wonderful collect of poster art from all of the parks. The only problem is that it needs a new edition now with all of the changes to the various parks and the addition of Shanghai Disneyland.

Great way to remember the magic

I bought this as a gift for my Disney obsessed daughter, and she LOVED it. The poster quality photos are great and I know she’ll page through it over and over.

I've purchased this book twice now in hopes of getting it in good condition but both times the cover has been ripped. This is a gift and I'm hoping for it to be used as a coffee table book so it needs to be in perfect condition. I'm frustrated and will probably purchase a different book completely.

What a Delightful Tome, full of wonderful Disneyland memories. I've wanted a book on the gorgeous Attraction Posters for some time now. Disney love aside, this is a Textbook in Color Theory and Graphic Design. This collection is Art with a Capitol A. It's a large format and a very dense 144 color pages. Of particular interest to me are the designs of Bjorn Aronson who did most of the early posters. Crisp, appealing, and ingenious. It's also nice to see Attraction Posters from other Disney Parks around the World. I'm not sure if this book contains every single Poster Image created for the Theme Parks, but if not, it has to be close. The written text is interesting and informative without taking up too much artwork real estate. It also organizes the book well by chapter and Tony Baxter's great introduction provides his usual knowledge and insight. If you are someone who collects the $35.00 framed Attraction Posters, I should point out that many of the full page illustrations in this book are around the same size. Let's just say, I bought more than one copy....and I probably could have gotten a third in the case of some tough choices about which page side I liked better.

Just wanted to say that I thought this was a great book. Now two things you should keep in mind, when I ordered it off Amazon, it didn't come wrapped in plastic or anything. So when it came, there were some little nicks and scrapes on the dust jacket. Nothing too bad, or enough to make me return it. But you should be aware of that. Also, most of the art inside is for Magic Kingdom only. I guess they just don't make a lot of posters for the other parks; Epcot, AK, DHS. Would rate it a 3.5 overall. Definitely worth it if you get it cheaper then the cover price of $40.

The pictures are amazing and vivid of the Disney Parks poster art from around the world. I enjoy the posters for restaurants and things that are now gone. There is a bonus double sided poster in the back you can tear out and frame too.

The top edge of the front cover is scraped. This a negative review based on that.

Disney rescanned all of the original artwork to make this book, and you can really tell. The book is beautiful and the information inside is great. The only thing is that I wish it had more posters from American parks, as that's where I'm from.

This is seriously the coolest coffee table book I've ever purchased. My fiance and I are Disneyland die-hards, and we've talked long about buying a replica poster of one of our favorite attractions. I want Haunted Mansion, she wants Disney Railroad. Luckily, when we visited the park about a year ago, we found this delightful book for sale. It did the trick for us. This book is oversized, packed full of beautiful attraction art, and more. While bright and beautiful copies of the posters themselves would be awesome on their own, there's information about how each poster was made, and variants on display. This means if you're looking at Pirates of the Caribbean's poster art, you'll not only see Disneyland's poster, but Disney World's, Tokyo's, etc... It's really cool looking at the small differences. We were excited to purchase this book at Disneyland, but we luckily checked with Amazon first. It's cheaper here, and the book was delivered flawlessly to our door. It now sits on our living room coffee table, and we couldn't be happier. This is a great buy for Disney fans.

Why buy the posters individually when you can have them all in a book. Great inspiration, large, colorful book. Great value.

I can't believe it took them so long to put this together. Virtually EVERY attraction poster, including gorgeous side-by-side comparisons of various prints that really capture the art of old-fashioned screen printing. The 1950s and 1960s posters are absolute classics.

After traveling to all the Disney Parks (except Hong Kong)--I love seeing the posters of the parks (love the Tokyo ones!). I've been going to Disneyland since the early 60's--and this book is a treasure with old and new posters of attractions and shows --many long gone, some still here to enjoy.

I enjoyed paging through this very fine edition. The grahics are amazing and the posters are exactly what an art lover can appreciate. Each print is worth framing. But don't do that unless you plan to buy two books!

This book is very well made and includes just about every poster used in any of the Disney Parks! Great to see Haunted Mansion (and others) in different languages and styles. I got this book because one of my favorite things about the Disney parks is the posters they have (near the front of the park, etc). Pro: Well edited book, that really shows off the artwork. I realize that there is not a lot of writing with this (mostly art) but that is kind of the point of the book. Con: It is not really the type of book you would read from front to back—more like something you pick up, look through for a bit and then come back to later. Great book; great price.

Since most posters are from rides in the Magic Kingdom, that gets the biggest section. Each land in the MK has its own chapter with a brief writeup about the posters. Since every park (Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disney and Disneyland Paris) has a Magic Kingdom, the attractions are all mixed in based on the land. Some attractions that appear in multiple parks will have multiple posters, but not all (no Buzz Lightyear for WDW). After the MK, there is a chapter for California Adventure and Tokyo DisneySea. Noticeably missing are the other WDW parks (Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom). If one of the other parks has a ride that appears in one of those three, there may be a poster for it, but not always. According to the book, the non-MK parks used less posters. But, posters do exist because in the first chapter they show small versions of posters from those 3 parks, so why not include them??? The posters range from quarter page to full page (hopefully your favorite is a full page - because they look great). The small WDW non-MK posters in the first chapter are about 1/6 page. An extra full page poster is included in the back and can be torn out (I won't, but maybe you will). It is a back to back sheet, so really two posters. If you like attraction posters and their art, or you like Disney and want a remembrance of rides still here and some gone, get this book. I decided not to downgrade the review to 4 stars for the lack of posters from the 3 parks, but that lack really makes it a 4 1/2 star book.

I love this book. It has great pictures and information, from the beginning of Disneyland to today. I also bought one for my dad!

AN amazing book with many full page attraction prints you could easily frame. the colors are crystal clear and super vibrant. the book is very large and does not fit with spine showing on my "Disney book shelf". that would be my only complaint.

The Disney Poster archives over the years, with the signifigance and history behind them. Beautiful book and well presented. A must-have for Disney fans.

This book not only provides a catalogue of the poster art from attractions old and new, but also adds some background to the artists, techniques, and styles of said posters. I really fun read and great coffee-table book!

The shipping was two weeks longer than expected but well worth the wait. I have always loved the Disney posters from Disneyland and Disney World but could never pick which ones to get as a souvenir. Now I have them all and it only makes me want to visit the parks in other countries more.

I absolutely love this book. I must admit that when I first got it, I felt that it was a little too big. After opening it, I was really impressed with the size and quality of the pictures. I loved reading about the background of the posters. Anything Disney is a love of mine! Would definitely recommend this to others.

Beautiful and extremely well crafted. Authors did a fantistic job of reasearch and putting all together in a nice package of very entertaining and visually stunning chronology.

This book contains a beautiful collection of Disney Attraction Posters. It's HUGE, taking up much of my coffee table. All the classics are included and several are full page and just gorgeous. A nice history on poster creation is also included.

This is a wonderful array of poster art that brings back memories of early days at Disneyland. We grew up nearby and went very frequently to the park. One of the artists lives near us now in Solvang and an article in the local paper turned us on to this book. We bought it for my son, a Disneyphile and Expert on All Things Disney and he was thrilled. One of the things we liked was seeing the poster art from other Disney Parks around the world. The differences were very interesting.

My husband is a huge Disney fan, so this was one of the Disney book I purchased for him. He loves it.

Loved it but many of my favorite posters were not given the full page treatment. Binding and printing are top notch. The colors look beautiful.

I guess there was no misrepresentation but the book wasn't really up to my expectations. I was expecting all full page posters, and additional information with each one. Color is beautiful and there is no shortage of posters! It is a large, heavy, quality book.

This is a wonderful collection of pictures. It brought back many memories of my visits to Disney and even includes the newer parks all over the world. This is a must have for a Disney collector.

Great history of Disney poster art to the present.

i have always loved the vintage disney posters, and when i saw this book available for pre-order, i jumped all over it! the size is PERFECT! approximately 11x14, the size is perfect to showcase the posters to full effect, even when not full-page. the chapters are listed as follows: one: here you leave today... two: main street, u.s.a. three: adventureland four: new orleans square and liberty square five: frontierland six: fantasyland seven: tomorrowland eight: tokyo disneysea nine: disney california adventure one thing, right off the bat, that i loved, was seeing the juxtapostion of the different posters for the same attractions from the different parks. it is lovely to see how nuanced the art can become from one country to the next. it is also helpful that under each poster it shows which park the poster was designed for, as well as the artist and the year it was made. the pages and binding are top notch. the book smells GREAT! a lot of the full-page posters would be more than suitable for framing. some of the stand out images are as follows: p.16: main street railroad poster in pastel pink p.34: swiss family treehouse (the colors are vibrant and beautiful) p.41: indiana jones adventure, temple of the forbidden eye (AWESOME!) p.44: adventure isle, disneyland paris (now THIS would have been worth buying the book for all by itself!) p.67: phantom manor, disneyland paris (another shining example of how the same attraction differs from park to park) p.78: storybook land canal boats (the first attraction i worked at disneyland many years ago...happy memories) p.105: disneyland monorail mark vii (a new poster created in 2008) p.132: red car trolley, disney california adventure (very period, VERY beautiful) i had no idea that so many contemporary pieces would be here, but wow! of course there are a lot of the classics (pirates, haunted mansion, tiki room, alice in wonderland, etc.), but there were lovely pieces such as the finding nemo attraction, as well as an abundance of posters from tokyo disneysea. i was also pleased to see several from california adventure. the red trolley poster is one i may actually frame. which means i will likely order another copy of this gorgeous book. :) all in all, if you are a fan of disney (past or present), art, or history (or any combination of these), you will not be disappointed in this worthy book!

I mean it's a really large format and doesn't fit on my bookshelf. But I don't care because it's awesome. It'd be a great addition to any collection or coffee table. Great to just leisurely browse through.

Waited what seemed like forever this title to come out. It was well worth the wait! Vivid colors and presented in a large size. I have always loved Disney posters and artwork and to have a huge number in this book is awesome! This is a must have for all Disney fans. This arrived on time but with some light damage on the corners but not much to complain about. I has great pictures of the posters used at Disneyland. A good gift for any Disney park geeks!
