Beautiful but content disappointing
This book is beautifully photographed and well presented. There are some great ideas and possibly a gem or two for recipes. However, I am really disappointed with the content given the high price. I appreciate Kiki and her simple recipes on her YouTube channel and her blog, but a bowl of frozen blueberries or frozen pineapple with sprinkles is not a recipe. Fruit with packaged pudding is not a recipe. Using essentially the same biscuit recipe for cinnamon roll biscuits, strawberry shortcake, biscuits and jelly, and biscuits and gravy does not give you 4 different recipes. I would have been very happy overall for a lower price with the few recipes and other meal suggestions. Just do not think what was produced means the value I hoped for.
Very simple meal ideas, which is what we love about Plantiful Kiki!
The quality of this book is A+. I love the photos, the font, and the organization. Someone first transitioning to this way of eating could lose their mind with the simplicity of the meal ideas. They are BASIC, but if you follow Kiki you know that's her motto: Keep it simple. If you require layers of flavor, sophisticated seasonings, and extended preparation to feel satisfied then this book is not for you. If you are all about roasting veg, steaming some greens, and looking for fast and easy food combinations, this is made for you. It would be great for a newbie or even an old-timer who needs to go back to basics (ME!) Thank you, Kiki!
Perfect starter guide for Starch Solution newbies
Listen up! If you are a home cook wanting challenging recipes, do not buy this book. You won’t be impressed by a recipe that says to defrost frozen berries and add sprinkles. This book is not for you. If you are getting started on Starch Solution and want SIMPLE ideas on what to eat, you are the target customer. Having spent the last couple months in an SS group, I can tell you people make high carb, low fat plant based diets WAY harder than they need to be. Kiki has put together a beautiful starter kit for those folks. It even includes a seven day meal plan to get started. So, again, if you want difficult recipes then prepare to be disappointed. If you want a handy guide to losing weight on a high carb, low fat no oil diet - this book is for you. Great job, Kiki!

The photography is beautiful. Kiki is a true artist and always tasteful. There is no index to make recipe search easy. Recipes are a big disappointment. Frozen fruit with sprinkles, baked potato wedges with flavored salt are not recipes. Duplicate recipe for same biscuit. I do like her suggestions on a meal plan. This book is suitable for a high school or college student or first time cook. Sorry Kiki but it is not worth $28.52 for a thin paperback. The ebook was much better.
Shameful copying of McDougall and recipe redundancy
This is a two part bad review. “The diet” is a completely paraphrased summary of Dr McDougall’s weight loss plans. She mentions Dr McDougall many times on her videos but it seems in the book that she’s trying to brand herself as “Plantifully Lean” (or Simply Lean in her disclaimer), as if she has developed the plan. Calorie density charts are not credited, nor are the plate proportions or any other diet guidelines. Dr McDougall gives his plan for free on his website, and offers a free support forum with extensive feedback from himself and registered dietitian Jeff Novick. For Kiki to write this book and lay out the plan so boldly as her own ideas is an unforgivably greedy act. Dr McDougall is mentioned once, when she refers recommendation of B-12 supplements. Dr McDougall is only mentioned one more time that I can find. It’s the acknowledgment page as the first person who ‘modeled’ this way of eating to her. That’s hardly credit. She also misspelled his name in this lone pseudo-credit. “The recipes” are a redundant joke. On one page, a recipe for Brussels sprouts with some spices. A few pages away, the identical recipe with the addition of mushrooms and onions. Cheese sauce - good recipe. Then you have hasbrowns with cheese sauce. Baked potato with cheese sauce. Broccoli with cheese sauce. Broccoli and rice with cheese sauce. Baked potato with broccoli and cheese sauce. Oatmeal - 7 recipes for oatmeal interchanging fruit topping with either a walnut or a pecan. Potatoes - one recipe could have been made to roast potatoes and add either truffle salt, or smoked paprika, or garlic salt. But instead it’s three recipes. The icing on the cake are fruit bowls. A ridiculous addition to the book by someone that doesn’t have enough motivation to finish a book. Page 82 Frozen blueberries with sprinkles. Page 83 Frozen pineapples with sprinkles. Page 84 Frozen cherries with sprinkles. Page 94 Melon salad. Ingredients: melon. Page 93 Berry salad. Ingredients: berries. I’m returning the book, and unsubsbing from her you tube channel. This book is simply a cash grab on her fan base. This is someone else’s research, more than half of the recipes are redundant nonsense, and it is further filled with pictures of her modeling with ‘uplifting’ quotes, which are probably also paraphrased. She did a great job at her own weight loss but she’s not a guru or a developer.

What a disappointment with a high price tag. I think KiKi is wonderful on her IG and YouTube videos. This book had a beautiful pictures. The recipes are WAY too basic. Pull out pineapple and thaw for 5 min. Really? 😬 The price actually went down the I received it. You could get all this information for free on her IG or YouTube. Save your money on this one.

What I appreciate about this cookbook is the simplicity of it. Kikki is always saying to keep it simple. Too complex or too many ingredients and I dont stick with it. Pictures for almost every recipe. Beautifully designed. What I would change...leave out the recipes such as fruit in a bowl. I would rather more transformed recipes. But all in all, its s good cookbook.
Beautiful and Simple Layout
I received my book in the mail yesterday and am so pleased with it. The quality of the book itself is very nice. THe pages are good quality and the colors are vibrant. I became a Plantiful Kiki fan through Youtube and was always jotting down notes of her tips and recipes. I was so excited to hear that she decided to put all those ideas into a book. It will make meal planning and prep much easier for me. The book is an easy to follow plan. The recipes are simple and perfect for meal prepping in advance, and the eating plan details are simple to follow. I appreciate the time Kiki put into this project and am looking forward to more great things from her brand. Thank you @PlantifulKiki
Just what I needed!
I have been plant based for over 4 years, and have lost some of the weight I needed to lose. However, I love to cook and eat, so getting all the weight off has been difficult for me. I have over 30 plant based cookbooks (!!!!!!!), but I’m really excited about this one. The beauty, organization, and simplicity of this book is what makes it a standout for me. Some people have complained about it being too simple, but it is exactly what I need! All the other, complicated books I own have great recipes for after I’ve lost the weight, but this book is going to get me there. The quick, easy recipes, the ideas for vegetables, and the reminders to eat my half plate of vegetables first is just what I need. Thank you, Kiki, for creating this book. ❤️
Authentically Kiki, simple and beautiful food for your plant based healthy journey.
I have followed Kiki for a few months now as I was dealing with a health issue that inspired me to transition to plant based diet. Kiki is above all transparent and authentic. She makes things easy to understand and her humble attitude of being of service comes across in everything she does. I read some of the previous reviews commenting on the simplicity of some of her recipes and I get that if you are an advanced level cook that this doesn’t seem valuable but I actually went to culinary school and I appreciate the way she simplified everything she does. She repeatedly and admittedly refers to herself as a “lazy cook” I find this completely endearing. This book is pricey but what is even more costly is being overwhelmed by complicated explaination when making a major life/health change. I appreciate Kikis approachable content and I believe that it is worth the price if you need a simple digestible( pardon the pun) way to begin your journey. Kiki is authentic.... follow her and watch some of her content before you order this book and you will want to support her as she supports so many with her free content. Plantiful lean is plentiful good.

Overpriced and useless.
I see a lot of negative reviews here but I am going to assume these individuals have been eating this way for a long time so maybe it's nothing "new" to them. I felt that way too when I first went through the book, however, we forget that there are so many others out there that simply have NO IDEA where to begin on this journey. They have NO IDEA what foods to prepare and how to prepare them. It sounds like logic to us but to others, this is very difficult and overwhelming. Plantiful Kiki has excelled at getting this message across clearly and providing the newcomers with the tools and knowledge necessary to make their journey enjoyable and painless. This book is precisely for those new to the program and it is by far one of the best tools/books a newcomer can have to start their journey.
Not Worth the Price
This small paperback book is disappointing and definitely not worth the $28.93 I paid for it. The pictures are beautiful and there are a few good ideas but I would have expected it to cost half of what I paid. It makes me wonder whether or not it's worth getting the next book.
Amazing book!
This book is not just informative, it's also so beautiful! I really appreciated the healthy, simple recipes with all of the gorgeous pictures that accompanied the recipes. Kiki is so positive and knowledgable, and I'm so thankful that she decided to share her expertise in both health and weight loss.
Lots of pictures!
This book is perfect! It’s easy to read, filled with lots of pictures, and easy smart sense recipes. Kiki makes it so easy to follow Dr. McDougall’s plan for Maximum Weight Loss.She uses so many visuals to help people understand the concept of a 50/50 plate, diluting calories and calorie dense foods. The food in this book is delicious and easy to make! So many great ideas that will change your life! I am down 25 pounds since 7/31/20. I feel like I have finally found a healthy lifestyle that makes sense and is easy to follow! Thank you Dr. McDougall and thank you Plantiful Kiki for making it so easy to understand and showing us that it’s ok to eat a lot! Just eat the right foods!! If you buy this cook book, you won’t be disappointed!
Wonderful easy to follow guide
Some negative reviews mentioned that this book is too simple & the recipes are too easy; however, those are the exact reasons why I'm giving this book 5 stars! This book is exactly what I was looking for & will be my new go to cookbook. This book is basically an easy breakdown of Dr. Mcdougall's Starch Solution with tons of wonderful easy recipes. I stumbled upon Kiki's YouTube channel a while back & fell in love with her recipes & tips. I am in the beginning phase of transitioning to a whole food plant based diet & this book will be my new guide. I'm not 100% plant based yet, but I look forward to my journey. I really appreciate the simplicity of these recipes because I am a lazy cook. Also, I really like that most of these recipes are designed for 1 serving since I am the only one in my family transitioning to plant based eating. However, if I'm ever cooking for more than one, it should be really easy to just double or triple the ingredients. I paid $28.00 for this book which is a little expensive, but it's worth it. This guide makes me feel confident about achieving my health goals because the information presented is not intimidating or overwhelming.
Very tasty and easy recipes for everyone, adults & children alike.
This a a very yummy and easy WFPB cookbook. I’ve tried these and I would recommend them to everyone: Cheesy Hasbrowns, Cherry Almond Oats, Masa Cakes, Cheesy Broccoli Rice, Burrito Bowl, Easy Lentil Curry (best if left to sit awhile before serving) , spring roll bowl (I ate this for a week straight, no problem getting my salads in every day), Steamed broccoli & cheese sauce, Roasted Brussel sprouts & mushroom mix, Roasted Cauliflower w/Pesto, Roasted Brussels sprouts, veggies & Hummus, Maple Mustard dress smoky (ITS THE BEST), spring roll sauce, cheese sauce (it’s my favorite WFPB sauce and it’s so simple), Pickled onions, veggie burger (yum, I cooked mine in the air fryer to get crispy), black bean salsa... just to name a few.
Just get it!!
This book is the best! Not only does Kiki make a healthy lifestyle doable it has beautiful pictures and easy to follow directions. I have tried a whole food, plant based lifestyle before and always failed because most cookbooks are so complicated with 900 steps. Kiki is so good at breaking it down to easy steps and just a few ingredients .. i have been back on the healthy path now 2 months armed with her ideas and i am down 15 lbs! I can’t thank her enough for the work she is doing and i was so happy when this book came out to help me find some more ideas.. thank you Kiki!
Cookbook for weightloss
Honestly, I have no idea why people are leaving such negative reviews. Sure, it's your opinion but it's damaging. I was very close to NOT purchasing this book but I'm glad I did. It is not lacking in photos but the recipes are all different. PLUS, this is a cookbook for WEIGHTLOSS. I don't think people are reading the title well. "LEAN"...Anyway, I love how simple the recipes are and how they are geared towards WEIGHTLOSS so seeing frozen fruit with cocoa nib sprinkles makes sense. Thanks for the book, Kiki...congrats on your weightloss success and publishing success :)
I was impressed!
After the reviews that I read, I thought I was taking a gamble on the purchase of this plant-based diet book. I was alarmed about absolutely nothing. This is a not a plain cookbook. This is a way to take weight off, with guidance from Kiki. The beginning of the book was impressive to me. Kiki lines out what to buy, a sample menu of the foods and recipes to eat, which was quite comprehensive, and then some recipes, and ways to eat fruit, that were not recipes, but ideas on paper you can use to eat the fruits. Some of the reviewers thought the couple of ingredients and very few directions, was a recipe. It is an idea to have your fruit. There are some good recipes in the book too, yes, actual recipes. I made two tonight. Easy Lentil Curry made in the Instant Pot, and Turmeric Roasted Cauliflower. I would have used less water in the Lentil Curry, and will next time, but the flavor was good. The Turmeric Roasted Cauliflower was good and I ate half of a cauliflower and my husband ate the other half along with the curry. We had brown rice with the dinner. This was on a menu selection. There is a section for desserts, and I did not know that I could have them before this book. There are 5 Nice Cream recipes, that you can choose from, & the frozen fruit ideas in that section. There is a section for lunch and dinner that has things like Easy Chickpea Curry, Chili Lime Roasted Sweet Potato Tacos, to a Spring Roll Bowl. There are many more and some are simple, but all are easy. There is a section on sauces, that you can make to liven up your veggies, salads, or potatoes. Then at the end there is a section on “Cravings” that you can choose to make, if you want to go to town and eat out. This will be better for you than eating out, as we all know vegetarian/vegan restaurants cook with oil. This section has pancakes, waffles, muffins etc. designed for maintenance or a cheat meal, when you have a craving. There is a dessert section for cravings too, with Chocolate Lava Cake, and Strawberry Shortcake, as well as Chocolate Chip Cookies. There are so many more, like “Snack Cravings” that I haven’t mentioned, but you can see that Kiki has included everything needed for this plant based diet. Some of the reviews I thought were unfair, and I wanted to set the record straight. Don’t be afraid to buy this book (I am not affiliated in any way, nor was I compensated for my review) as I was pleasantly surprised by her number of real recipes. All in all, I was impressed.
The Perfect Guide to Make Weight Loss Simple
Well done Kiki! I love this book, the photography, the lay out, but mostly the content and how you make it so easy to follow. Reading it made the light bulb go on and I had that Aha moment. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this for your many followers. You are truly a beautiful soul and an inspiration to so many. Love your videos also and look forward to watching many more of them.

I received my copy of 'Plantifully Lean' by Plantiful Kiki, yesterday, and am really excited about it! The book is so beautifully illustrated and contains tons of mouth-wateringly tasty and gloriously healthy recipes for weight loss, all easy to follow, together with step-by-step explanatory guide from Kiki on how she lost nearly 70 lbs on plant-based eating. Nearly all the recipes come with an illustrated photo of each dish. This has got to be one of my favorite cook-books! Go buy your copy today!
Great book!
I watch Kiki's video's over & over and take notes. It's so nice to now have all of her valuable information in print, easy to reference and review often. The sauces are weekly staples at our house. The cheese sauce, soy ginger, and peanut sauces make eating vegetables so delicious!! I made the chickpea curry and I'm obsessed. Creamy, full of flavor, and so filling with the other half of my plate piled high with vegetables. Thank you Kiki for such a beautiful book filled with tasty, simple recipes that make maintaining a healthy weight easy and delicious!
Best Quick and Easy Vegan Cookbook!
Every recipe has a beautiful color picture and all ingredients come from most local grocery stores. I have made several of these recipes and they are very tasty and quick to make. This is the healthiest way to eat and doesn’t take hours in the kitchen or break the budget!
Almost Perfect!
Love it! Only wish it were hardcover for durability but the full pages of color have to be expensive so I really don’t count that against the book. This is the type of cookbook/plan I have been looking for! Simple recipes that help me when I’m stumped on what to make, and where I’m likely to have the ingredients for most of it on hand already! Saving me time, money, and extra weight! ❤️👏🏻
Plantifully Lean
I recently discovered Plantiful Kiki on you tube. I love her straight forward, simple approach to eating a high carb low fat diet. I've been vegetarian for a long time, but her videos have inspired me to eat a completely plant based diet. Her book did not disappoint. The pictures are beautiful, and the food looks great. I work long hours, and I don't have the time or energy to cook complicated recipes that require 20 ingredients. I have already tried a few of her recipes, and I was very pleased with the outcome. Some of the recipes are very simple, but the food is healthy and tastes good. That's all that matters to me. I look forward to her next book.
I love this cook book
In the recipies, photocopied one...the cheese sauce. I added the cashews. Then I added the dry ingredients. I placed in plastic bags and mailed to friends. All they had to do was add the potato, carrot, lemon juice and water broth from the carrot and potato. I always write the name of the cookbook. I always tell them, "Kiki is a teacher, and her husband an engineer." All recipes so simple and so yummy and I am so thin.
Kiki is wonderful! Easy prep, fast meals
I follow Kiki on all platforms. She is open and honest about her journey and focuses on health not skinny. I really appreciate that message. Following the methods she and many other greats (McDougall, Esselstyn's, Greger, Barnard, Chef A.J., High Carb Hannah etc) describe, she breaks it down into simple and satisfying meals. Keep it simple and your weight will come off if needed, you won't find yourself a slave in the kitchen but can easily do more if you enjoy cooking.

I am really glad that I ordered this cookbook! It is a very simple cook book...which I LOVE! I do not like being in the kitchen...but It is important for me to eat healthy meals! Kiki gives really good ideas on different recipes. I have tried 3 so far that were really good!!! I highly recommend this book...especially if you are like me and don’t enjoy cooking! Kiki has definitely inspired me to get back on track!!

What an amazing resource! Well worth the investment for all the great information and easy to make recipes! Great for those just getting started with wfpb, losing weight, and dont have hours to spend on making one meal! A Simple But Thorough Guide to Easy Plant-Based Weight Loss
I'm so happy to finally have this book in my hands! I have watched all of Kiki's videos and follow her on Instagram and Facebook, but it is so nice to be able to make notes in a book that contains all the basics in one place and I can take it with me to the grocery store! I especially appreciate the shopping list and example meal plan. There is also a section where Kiki answers possible questions about the plan, e.g, plate size, eating veggies for breakfast, etc. (I know I've asked myself those same questions). This a simple but thorough guide to losing weight while eating lots of food! Thank you, Kiki, for doing what you do. I appreciate it so much!
Exactly what I was looking for
This is exactly what is looking for. It's just like her videos and isn't dressed up to be something else for the sake of filling out a book. It's exactly what she represents on her videos, simple and easy to implement. Highly recommend.

I love this book!
I love this book for many reasons: 1) the beautiful photos 2) the simplicity of the recipes 3) the way it sparks my own food ideas. Don’t allow the negative reviews to prevent you from buying it. Some of the reviewers are saying this book is too expensive. Maybe they don’t realize that self-published books cost more! Also, when there’s so many color photos, it does increase the cost of a book. For the price of a dinner date though, look at how you get a beautiful cookbook, which also is basically Kiki’s blueprint for how she lost 70 pounds. Kiki gives away all of her secrets. It costs about $100 for one session with a health coach or dietitian. Look at how you get so much value, for 1/3 of the price of that. You are given the keys to unlock your health! Some are trying to say Kiki copied McDougall. There’s many versions or takes on his concepts and starch solution diet. It’s called creativity! For example, there’s authors like Chef AJ who have their take on a starch-based whole food vegan diet. Are they really “copying” McDougall? I don’t think so. There’s not just one type of yoga, for example. Different people need different teachers who resonate with them. I myself love to see an item like a biscuit dough turned into various recipes. For beginner cooks, it’s helpful to have the recipes using that dough separately. You see, to me, it’s clear just with this that Kiki wrote her book to actually help others. She is trying to give you ideas for your every day life. Not everyone has time or energy to cook an involved recipe every day for every meal. Also, some are complaining about some of the frozen fruit items on the book not being true “recipes.” Some have complained that the recipes are too basic in general in this book. If you’re working on being healthy and/or losing weight, you don’t need “recipes,” you need ideas or examples for your daily life on what or how to eat. Not everyone has the bandwidth to make Instagram worthy meals every day. Also, some of her stuff in the book is online in places like YouTube, but some of us prefer to have them in a book form. I like having the information in all one place. Plus, buying this book felt good to me, since I could support Kiki for sharing beneficial free content online that’s helped my life for years. But…It’s not fair to say Kiki made this book to only make money. She gives away a ton of value and free content online! Are recipes just supposed to be free? Oh wait, you probably are the type who expects all music to be free. Creators have a right to sell products and earn an actual living. Even a “simple” recipe you see in a book took hours total…hours to conceptualize it, create it, test it, photograph it, and put it into a video or book. I recommend this book to my friends and family who are new to eating the whole food vegan diet and feel overwhelmed. It’s also one of the most sustainable ways to lose weight and keep it off. There are fancier starch-based whole food vegan diet books. Sure. But, give this book a chance! It has a lot of heart and creativity. I also want to say that some of the reviews for this book are super unfair. If you desire to lose weight in a healthy way and optimize your health, keep the weight off, and not feel deprived eating, get this book. Don’t allow the mean girls’ reviews on it to stop you from feeling your best and for less than $30, you get knowledge from a mentor that you can use the rest of your life. You will want to share it with others, to pay it forward, just like Kiki has done here.
Beautiful and so easy to follow!
I am so happy with this guide and easy recipes in Kiki’s cookbook! I have been super pleased how easy it is to follow , simple is what I need starting my change to a plant based lifestyle. We are a family of four and my husband and teen age daughters can make themselves any recipe in a quick and healthy manner. I used her easy grocery list and sample 7 day menu plan which started our path to healthy eating.

I am in love with this cookbook for weight loss. Each page is filled with beautiful pictures and it makes each dish mouthwatering. Very easy to follow meal plans. Way Overpriced for the Content and I Love Kiki
I love Kiki, but... this is priced too high. I could see paying $12-15 for this; unfortunately $28-32 has this valued 2x too much. There aren't a lot of recipes, and over half are already in videos, etc. Most recipes are very simple as other reviewers have noted, maybe too simple for this price point. The book when it came, I did a double take because it didn't feel like a book of that price. It was far too thin (thin like a children's coloring book). I feel this book was rushed, and not enough content. Most of my cookbooks at this price are at least double pages and usually hardcover, not soft. Great for the beginner, and I love the simplicity of her ways, this could easily be more stars at a lower price. I want to support Kiki because I think she's fantastic, but the pricing model needs work because this is a "mini" cookbook and not full fledged. I hope her next cookbook coming out shines brighter because this was a disappointment.

Not worth the $30 when compared to other cookbooks of similar size, plus for a paperback. However, I do love the book. It’s simple but it’s easy enough to give me ideas on how to put meals together. I love how with every recipe Kiki reminds you to not forget your veggies and to eat your veggies first.
Worth Every Penny!
This book is fantastic! I first found Kiki on YouTube and started following some of her eating suggestions. They have changed my life! I’m down 15 lbs since starting this, and am no longer pre-diabetic. I sleep well and have more energy than I know what to do with. I love that she keeps her explanations and recipes simple. When things get too complicated I tend to lose interest. Thank you for being such an inspiration and providing the rest of us with these incredible tools for health and happiness.

Good stuff but left me wanting a bit more
Don't get me wrong, I love Kiki's videos and will probably buy her upcoming book she's doing with High Carb Hannah, but this book left me wanting a bit more. I appreciate the simple recipes, but would have like to see an expanded section on meal prepping, or getting your family to eat plant based with you, or how to overcome some of the challenges of the Starch Solution. I also like that recipes are split into every day simple meals vs. cravings meals, which cravings have been a big issue for me on a WFPB diet. I would have also liked to see some citations and more about why a plant based diet is the healthiest instead of just referencing the McDougall books. You really need to have an understanding of why a plant based diet is better before you read this one, which you can learn online but still. If you're coming from a Standard American Diet this isn't for you...yet. I feel like this book will help me as a four year vegetarian with vegan tendencies eat healthier for weightless. That being said I've made some of the recipes and they were delicious, and I think this book is really going to help me lose weight. I don't mind supporting a creator I really like and enjoy, but feel like price point for this book didn't match what I got. Like I said earlier though I'm still a big fan of Kiki and will continue to follow and buy her books because I appreciate what she's doing.

Simple and Delicious cookbook
Love, love, love this book! Because of Kiki I am down 15 lbs in 2 months. The print is great! Not too tiny that I have to pull out my readers to see the text. The pictures of the food is so appetizing. Now I have all her recipes in one place and I don’t have to try and figure out which video on YouTube has her scrumptious cheese sauce recipe. Yum!

This is a fabulous book written by a beautiful woman. It has great easy recipes and steps to a lifetime of health and being lean. It is the absolute best of the best.
Quick Easy Simple Whole Food Plant Based
I love how simple all the recipes are and the pictures are great! I don't have much time to cook during the week with a hectic work schedule so this was exactly what I needed to stick to clean whole food eating. It also breaks down everything you need to know for weight loss. If you are looking for more complicated recipes you might want to try Kiki's other book that has more comfort foods but this has a great section too.
Perfect for a beginner
Beautiful pictures and perfect for someone starting out in a plant based diet. I bit disappointed by the frozen fruit desert but it also just takes you back to simplicity and how this plant based diet doesn’t have to be hard. All the ingredients in her book are easy to find and inexpensive. Overall a great book!

Simple but tasty recipes!
I discovered Kiki a few months ago and absolutely love this way of eating! I think having the pictures next to the recipe is so important and she did that beautifully..the recipes are simple, delicious and filling because you can have as much as you need as long as you follow the 50/50 rule..veggies and starch.

This book is amazing! The recipes are so simple and absolutely delicious. I need simplicity and this book is it. I am super busy with work and kids. I was able to make delicious biscuits and gravy with a side of veggies in 20 minutes. I feel full, satisfied and no bloating or fatigue. I have followed Kiki for almost a year now. I have had a lot of health struggles, issues with digestion, etc. but since I made the decision to change my lifestyle to a healthy simple plant based diet, it has changed my life! I feel amazing and finally losing weight, no inflammation and digestion issues gone! I work closely with my holistic and follow these very simple recipes. I still have a lot of work, but I am on my way to being my very best self. Thank you Kiki!

Personal experience so far: I stumbled across Kiki's YouTube channel last week, and decided to give the approach a try. I'm trying to lose a similar amount of weight to her starting point and have a body type similar to hers, so thought this would be a good place to start. I am also dealing with chronic fatigue and autoinflammatory disease, which is my primary reason for seeking a reset on plant-based diet. I'm a week in. For me, there was an instant benefit: no die-off or vegan flu. My body was READY to start healing and took to this immediately. Already, I can see a ton of inflammation and its telltale signs leaving my constitution. A ton of edema that, for the life of me, I could NOT get rid of on my high-protein/low carb diet has left every part of my body. I'm more alert and into events that go on in my daily life, getting relief from chronic pain, and have surprisingly lost three pounds despite the high carbohydrate count (it should be noted here though that I am also following macros on MyFitnessPal to avoid overeating and lifting moderate weights, but no cardio just yet). As for the book: I'm wondering if the reviewers ragging on this book actually took time to READ it. As far as vegan cookbooks go, it has no more photos of the author than any other vegan cookbook (see Matt Amsden's RAWvolution-- I didn't see anyone getting catty at him or Post Punk Kitchen's Isa Moskowitz for being highly visible, so why the double standard?). People need to get over themselves. As for the reviewers saying the book is oversimplified-- it's SUPPOSED TO BE SIMPLE. These reactions feel like going to a museum of modern art. People look at an essentialist painting that's worth millions of dollars, but it might just be a study of six different shades of white. They'll sneer at the "white" canvas and say, "I could have done that." Yeah, but YOU didn't. The truth is, she gives a lot of practical, sustainable, down-to-Earth advice on new habits, having a healthy relationship with food and self-image, and adjusting to the lifestyle. She gives a grocery list for help stocking the pantry. She provides a sample meal plan, and a blank template for tracking your own meals. She gives suggested portions based on various goals. She takes the Starch Solution ideas and makes them accessible in easy terms. I'm confused, are these people disappointed because the book and its recipes aren't elitist enough? Some of us really do hate having to spend hours in the kitchen prepping vegan food, but we want something delicious and healthy to eat. These recipes have been super-fast in execution, delicious and filling, and my jeans are already loose. All around, so far it's just a big WIN. What I see when I look at the author and the contents of this book is: one person's experience with a doctor's recommendations on plant-based nutrition, and the methodologies she's developed for making this work in her REAL life. As others have pointed out, you can access most of this information for free on YouTube-- however, I would question why people have been so rude as to suggest the creator of this content does not FULLY DESERVE compensation for these extensive efforts. She has clearly spent copious amounts of time and effort into putting this information out for the benefit of other people, so why shouldn't she be rewarded? The only amount of pushback I'll give is that the actual materials the book is constructed of could be more substantial. But this is not a dealbreaker for me. Anyway-- if you buy this, you won't be sorry. It's valuable information, and I wish it had been in circulation when I went on my first plant-based odyssey.

Love the entire book. From simple easy to understand recipes, to weight loss tips, to the pictures!!!! And so far every dish I have made came out as expected and has made meals so delicious and enjoyable !!
Ideal for WFPB newbies looking to lean up
This book is ideal for the person who is new to a whole foods plant based diet and whose aim is to heal and healthfully transform their body. The beautiful pages are laid out with an eating plan referenced by Dr. John MacDougall, MD. The recipes are extremely simple, which is very helpful even for an experienced cook when adapting to such a new way of eating. They can be inspiring as an excellent base for embellishments or alterations, but they create a super easy framework to start with. They are absent of hard to obtain ingredients, and can be found at most grocery stores easily. I follow Plantiful Kiki on YouTube but I was looking for a tactile, easy to reference book of her base recipes. I received what I expected, and am very happy with it. Using this plan and with her inspiration and recipes, I’ve lost 10lbs so far and expect to get back to a healthier weight eventually. I’m experiencing far less inflammation in my body and am finding that I generally feel better and with much less digestive discomfort. For those looking for more embellished recipes to please crowds or families, she’ll be offering her Simply Wholesome cookbook soon.

Okay. When I first got the book I was a little worried. It looked too simple. But it ended up being awesome. This is how many of us need to get our feet wet with whole food plant based / starch solution eating. I've been trying for a while and struggled. But I think I was trying to complicate it too much. I highly recommend this book to people of all cooking levels who are trying to make a change. I'm finally seeing some success with my weight/health by keeping it simple. I do wish it had an index in the back though. A few of the recipes do have sugar in them, but most omit that or have healthy options. And I'm completely thrilled that my children have been willing and happy to eat this food. I think she might be coming out with a book for kids / families which will be awesome.

Everything in the beginning of this book is so spot on! The recipes sound delicious and also look just amazing. Yes, the recipes are basic, but anyone who converts to a plant based lifestyle knows that you need to keep things simple in order to sustain the endeavor without spending your entire day in the kitchen. I want to start off by saying that two reviewers here made negative reviews regarding a recipe which is literally just frozen pineapple. Yes, it seems silly to put a recipe of just frozen pineapple but Kiki is just saying, look how simple a snack can be of just frozen pineapple. Honestly, I prefer frozen cherries myself. Anyway, this book is simply well done. I been buying plant based books for 2 years now. I wish I had this one 8 years ago. She simply describes this way of eating for weight loss without all the medical explanations. You can get that from many other doctor books. She cuts to the chase and explains how to do it and gives a lot of amazing recipes. I’m so glad I bought it and feel inspired to lose my last 20lbs. I lost 65 eating basically this way. I’m excited about her meals.

This book is perfect. Informative and so easy to understand. I'm at a time in my life that there arent enough hours in the day. Even the sample meal plan in this book is enough to help me have my weekly meals for the month without figuring it out myself. Life has gotten busy and sometimes overwhelming...this book has taken care of one aspect of that. The pages are of thick quality paper. Lots of vibrant pictures of food. Also, much of the health issues Kiki was dealing with is what I'm dealing with. I also have her e-cookbook Thank you KIKI.💗

Easy recipes, nice pictures
Very easy recipes and nice pictures, but I ended up returning the book -- the price was just too high as compared to other better quality (hardcover) cookbooks. This is a very thin, paperback edition that I just didn't think was worth $30. It is good quality paperback but I prefer sturdier cookbooks. I enjoy and appreciate this author but felt the price was too high.
Favorite Cookbook
I can’t even express how happy I’m with this cookbook. The photos are gorgeous. The recipes are so simple and easy to follow. They are delicious and affordable. I plan on making every single recipe in this book.
Way overpriced
I like Kiki, but disappointed that she would charge so much for this book. There are a lot of photographs of her posing for the camera & there is no index in the back. The book is okay, but she charged way too much.

Simple, Easy Recipes
I really like this simple cookbook, but it’s really for beginners or busy people that want easy, fast vegan recipes.....which is what I want. I am not looking for complicated recipes. Yes, there are recipes like thawed frozen cherries, but for someone beginning an eating lifestyle change, they may not have even thought of eating frozen fruit as a snack. It’s a good reminder of simple, healthy foods.

I am very pleased with this book! I really like how she simplifies Dr. McDougall's and Chef AJ principles of low calorie density/starch solution in the guide/cookbook. I still like having the other books for reference on the science behind these principles. This book also seems like a good way to get family members started on this way of eating. I also love love love the simplicity of the recipes. I don't like to have to go to several stores just to make one dish!!!! If you're looking for an easy to understand, simple sustainable recipes w/ accessibility this is your book.

Absolutely love her book. I'm a very visual person and there are beautiful pictures on every page. Love, love love it. Explanations are simply put with drawings. Not a lot of detailed recipes. Just simply delicious inexpensive and easy eating.

I like this book. I find the recipes very appealing, and the simple recipes such as fruit with sprinkles are great, as well. The only issue I have with this book is the cover. It's curling like no book I have ever had has done, which is the oddest thing, but very annoying. The content of the book is great, but the quality of the book material itself sucks/

Dissatisfied
I love Plantiful Kiki, her YouTube videos are great! But I found this book dissatisfying and not as advertised :( Fresh fruit in a bowl or thawing frozen fruit in a bowl and putting cacao nibs or coconut flakes on top isn’t a recipe to me. It shouldn’t be advertised as a recipe book because there are very few recipes. Her YouTube channel is very great though! Sorry Kiki! Best of luck to you.

Very Helpful Tips-Short & Sweet
I ordered it for the oil free low fat recipes & got so much more. I wasn't expecting all of the helpful straightforward tips. I don't love reading diet books and this book is to the point. Fantastic photos!!!! What I didn't like was so many pages of what to put in your oatmeal in the morning. Other than that, it's totally worth buying. Nothing is hard to make or too over the top.......and I lost 30 pounds very easily.

Delivers simplicity, info, and ideas to follow Starch Solution
This book delivers exactly what it promises- simplicity. This book is aimed toward folks getting started with the starch solution way of eating. If you’re a pro, or looking for complicated or gourmet recipes, this is not going to be your best bet. If you’re new to things, and need recipes/ideas to help and not overwhelm you, this is gold. Some of the ideas seem easy, but I guarantee you that you probably hadn’t thought of them just starting out. I appreciate all of the information and tips. While some of the recipes aren’t necessarily scratch recipes (more so ideas of what foods to put together), they are exactly what I needed. Looking forward to buying Simply Wholesome next.

I bought this book several weeks ago and have already made many of the recipes. I find them delicious and easy. I have started keeping baked potatoes in my refrigerator at all times because it makes so many of the recipes very fast. I thought the book was well worth the money. The pictures are great and, once again, the prepared foods are wonderful. Thank you, Kiki.
Simple recipes to follow
Love Kiki and this book is great. It does have many of the recipes that she gives out for free on YouTube though. Still happy to have it in book form. My main complaint is that the dessert section is mainly composed of blending frozen fruit for ice cream. I could have figured that one out on my own.

I absolutely love this book. Simply recipes that anyone can do. I know what I'm suppose to eat but figuring out what was always my problem. I can open the book pick recipes I want and foods ready in less than 30 minutes. Easy peasy!

Basic but so helpful
The thing I love about Kiki on her IG and YouTube channel is that she makes plant based eating so simple. The quality of print and the pictures within are high quality and it is a beautiful book. While I agree with some of the reviewers that the recipes were a little basic, I love having a guide in print so I don't have to constantly sort through videos or Instagram photos to figure out what is going on in my kitchen. I honestly wish I had found Plantiful Kiki's resources before I began my transition to a plant based way of eating because it would have saved me a lot of money on cookbooks that I don't use. What I love is that she uses basic ingredients that I would naturally keep in my kitchen. There is nothing special that I am forced to buy for one simple recipe. Instead, she demonstrates a practical way of eating plant based that is affordable and easy to follow. Between this guide and her ebook Simply Wholesome, I am well set with practical recipes for this transition.

I liked 99% of the recipes. They are exactly what I needed. I don't really like to cook for a long time, complicated recipes, or with a lot of ingredients. This book has very simple recipes and ddelicious! I really love her style.
a little lack luster
I love Kiki's youtube channel- she makes some great meals and has some great ways to cut corners and save time when you don't want to be stuck in a kitchen cooking constantly. With that being said, this cookbook has a few good and tasty recipes but there are a lot of insanely basic "recipes" that could've just been left out like stir fry---the recipe is to get some frozen stir fry from the store.... while its nice to have that reminder of it being a healthy option, i don't think i need to pay for a cookbook to tell me that. There are a number of "recipes" that are similar in that regard. Overall, I like Kiki and all that comes with her youtube channel but not sure I'm ready to purchase her other cookbook.
Wonderful Recipes Beautiful Photos to Inspire
I love this recipe book. The recipes are so healthy and nutritious and easy to prepare. The first recipe i made was Roasted Zucchini And Onion. Very Delicious! I will be making many of these recipes and can hardly wait as they all look so tasty!

Great, simple cookbook
This is a lovely book, written by a lovely young lady that found the secret to losing and maintaining weight. It is down to the point, clearly written, provides super simple meal ideas, and references a great doctor, Dr. John McDougall. Anything she puts out - my advice is: buy it. The recipes are basic, simple, delicious, easy to prepare. No crazy ingredients.

Leaning to eat Vegan
This is a simple well constructed cookbook! It makes meals so simple to plan! If you are working on getting your health back and need a simple tool to help then this is the book! Kiki is a simple cook and that just makes life so much easier. I would definitely recommend this book!

I love it! I know there are some complaining that their are too many oatmeal recipes, or the recipes are too simple, but if u follow her videos this is EXACTLY like she eats...simple & delicious. This is more of a guide to her way of eating than any extensive recipes, but there are still several recipes in there. I like that I don’t have to hunt for a video for her cheese sauce, or her sauces, or some of her various recipes. The photography is beautiful. My only complaint is that it is a little expensive for what it is. But if u love Kiki’s videos you will probably love this book.

Love Kiki book so lame
I actually like Kiki and follow her on YouTube and Instagram. Fan of her cooking do not really care about her personal life. This book is so lame. I was so disappointed. The recipes are a joke. Bean burrito , change the fruit in your oatmeal. I was very shocked that she would even have this associated with her name. Kept the book because I was supporting her, but would not recommend it to others. The other negative reviewer are correct. Also she is just rebranding The Starch Solution as her own. I think she even trademarked the pictures of McDougall's plates.

Fast & Easy!
I was initially a little disappointed upon receiving this...it's more like a thick magazine so I questioned paying $30 for it. However, I like Kiki's YouTube Channel and I like how simplified the book is. Yes, you could find all of this information on her channel but I personally enjoy having a book to flip through. It's loaded with simple ideas that make eating this way easy. I like the meal plan and grocery lists provided, as well as the large font and colorful pictures. Can't wait to purchase her other book!

Yummy recipes
I am an avid fan of Plantiful Kiki. Great recipes, beautiful photography of the dishes. One suggestion I would make is to add an index which would allow one to more easily look up a specific recipe or ingredients (the Table of Contents works only if you know what category you put a recipe under. Hope that makes sense).
The pages for half of the book were upside down

If you are someone who isn’t big into cooking a lavish meal every day of the week or is busy with life that doesn’t want overly complex meals on the daily because who has time for that. This is a great cookbook to get you where you want in terms of weight loss. With simple recipes to follow. When your trying to lose weight the last thing you want is complicated.

Very disappointing
This is not a cook book. There are very few recipes that you can call an actual recipe, and absolutely not worth the near $30 price tag! I love watching Kiki's youtube channel, and was expecting to find lots of the wonderful recipes she shows on the channel, but that is not what you are getting here with this book.
Really wanted to love
However I was pretty disappointed in the content. As others have stated half of the book was very simple “snacks” that most people don’t need a cookbook for such as fruit salad for a dessert or how to bake potato’s. I ended up having to buy another plant based cookbook to get more ideas since this didn’t do much for me...
Too basic. Not really recipes.
Way too basic. The book inspired me because I am on a journey to better health but I didn’t expect several dessert ‘recipes’ to be one ingredient- frozen fruit. Disappointed.

Not worth the money
It’s not a great cookbook, it’s more of ideas for meals. It’s overpriced for what was in there. A couple of recipes were good. I’d save your money and buy a different one.
Pages are all messed up
I would have loved to give this book more stars, but The copy I received has pages totally messed up. The book begins with page #41. Table of contents comes after page 127. After page #38 you have page #130, and so on… you get the drift. Annoying and makes hard to use the book. Whoever bound the book must have been either unable to count or seriously drunk…
Say it isn’t so...
This book is beautiful, and Kiki herself seems like a beautiful person. But I get the impression that this book was published in haste just to get it out there in time for gift giving season. If you take the time to watch all of her videos on YouTube, and peruse her content on Instagram, you’ll get the same message and many -if not most- of the recipes in this book. Plus the added bonus of Kiki sharing her family adventures against the beautiful mountain backdrops of her home state. All for free.
Excellent plant based resource
As a healthcare provider and classically trained professional chef, I don't always have time to cook elaborate meals for myself. What I love about Kiki's YouTube channel is her easy approach to plant-based living. Her recipes are delicious and easy to make. I love her ideas for traveling when you live a plant-based life. As a minimalist, I try to mindful of what comes into my house. Based on the content she shares on YouTube and the number of recipes I have already saved, I want her cookbook so I have all her recipes in one place so they are easy to find. Check her out on social media. I am 58 years young so her content is current for everyone. She is loving, kind, and humble in her approach to plant-based living. I have adopted many of her make-ahead, batch cooking ideas, this has been such a blessing in my life.
Worst cookbook Ever!!
I love cookbooks. But this one is a dud!! A friend of mine has it and she said she hated it.! Said I could have it if I wanted it. So I looked at the cookbook She was right. My friend said this lady also has a YouTube channel I dont like her YouTube channel food either from what I saw. Dont waste your money!! Watch Nini girl on YouTube instead.
The key to sustainable weight loss
I was looking forward to Kikki’s weight loss book, I have her family cookbook. It was well worth the wait! It has a guide on how to Implement the eating McDougall way for weight loss as well as delicious recipes! I especially like the oatmeal recipes.
Fraud
Pictures of the food are really nice. Are they hers? Who knows. The ONLY recipe in this book is the cheese sauce, which after reading this book, I doubt its hers. The plagiarism throughout her “book” is insane. This woman (who is not a dietitian, nutritionist or educated in dietary management at all) mentions Dr. McDougall ONCE. Her entire “plantiful” lifestyle is a robbery of his scientific findings. “Frozen Pineapple with sprinkles” is a recipe?! In what world? Waste of money. If you’re looking for a book with pictures of Kiki, and pictures of food, this is the book for you.
1 ingredient & 1 spice doesn't make a recipe
Scraped potatoes, recipe says 2-3 medium sized potatoes that have been steamed or baked and chilled, - garlic salt. That's it. Watch her videos and take notes, because the recipes are so easy and minimal ingredients. I bought the cookbook from her site. Not worth it.

One of the best cookbooks out there for plant based eating
I adore Kiki. I follow her obsessively on youtube. I have notebooks everywhere with her recipes written down. I was so so excited for her to come out with a book with many of her simple, stress free, yet amazing tasting recipes. It will have a permanent place on my kitchen counter. I truly believe following a plant based diet is so amazing for your health. But sometimes it seems so overwhelming to make the change. This book explains everything you need to do to lose the weight and hopefully eliminate your health problems plaguing you. Kiki's advice is like having a heart to heart with a friend. She shares her story and how you can follow a plant based diet and make it simple. Something so important for me in a cookbook/recipe book is to have pictures. And almost every single recipe has one and they are GORGEOUS. All her food looks so yummy you just want to dive right in. Wait, do I need tons of crazy ingredients? No way! I glanced through last night and I had almost every ingredient already in my pantry or freezer. These recipes are simple, quick, and so yummy. She makes it easy to find your health again while eating amazing food and never going hungry. I highly recommend this book for people looking to lose a few pounds or people who just want some new plant based recipes. Anyone following a plant based diet can benefit from this book.

Fantastic simple recipes you can follow!
I feel this cookbook is fantastic! The recipes are simple and easy which means I will actually prepare them! I struggle sticking with the high carb low fat because it feels so much easier to just fall back on the processed food. I need something I can make as quickly and easily as the processed stuff. This cookbook has easy to follow recipes that I will actually prepare. Thank you KIKI! I've been watching her on YouTube but all the recipes were scribbled on random pieces of paper or I would forget about them. Having this beautiful cookbook with all the recipes nicely bound is just what I needed. 5 stars!

Not a single disappointment in this book
Kiki has done a fabulous job with this book It’s written very well. She makes it’s very simple to follow and understand. The recipes that I have tried so far are excellent. The illustrations are beautiful. Overall this book is everything that a person that eats plant based with limited time could want.

Iove this book so much. It's the first book I've actually tried a good chunk of recipes from coz they are so easy, take no time and need minimal ingredients.
A little disappointed...
The photographs are lovely and the recipes look nice, but it’s definitely overpriced for what it is. It’s quite a thin book, and full pages are consistently filled with model-type shots of the author. Some of the recipes are quite repetitive, and the hummus recipe is duplicated (on pages 90 & 98). Wouldn’t have been so bad if I hadn’t paid £26 for it.
Super basic and Simple
I was so excited to learn that plantiful Kiki was bringing out a book. It's beautifully put together and the photos and lay out are fab but I am disappointed by some of the recipes. They're extremely simple. A bowl of asparagus, although perfectly delicious, doesn't really count as a recipe in my world.
Great book for health and simplicity
I really like this book and use it often for the pancake and masa cake recipes. Even bought a teriyaki grill so I didn’t have to make one at a time in the frying pan. The majority of the recipes follow an unprocessed whole food plant based approach and therefore the book isn’t comparable to standard western diet cookbooks. But I think the variety of main courses and more indulgent items featured in the ‘cravings’ section is great. I’ve followed Kiki on YouTube for a while and am really trying to eat more healthily on a vegan diet so personally this book delivered everything I was hoping for. Still haven’t tried some of the recipes and I look forward to doing so.

I own way too many cookbooks, I feel it is important to mention as this makes me a tougher reviewer as I tend to compare. This book is self-published which makes me a bit nervous as she offers a lot of dietary advice- some of which quite frankly don’t make much sense. I’ve been a keen student of healthy and balanced vegan/vegetarian diets since I was 11 and had to see a dietician and a nutritionist for health challenges (completely from eating). This book goes against a lot that I have learned from certified professionals and seems to me more like encouraging eating disorders rather than eating properly. I didn’t buy it for the diet plan, rather the recipes which there were quite few of, and of those I tasted, there was just no flavour which was unfortunate as the names sounded good. I had to adjust everything. I rarely do take the time to review, but in this case it bothered me too much as I do not believe this to be a healthy book by any means, which I was convinced it was from the description. I mean you will certainly lose weight, anyone would, but the second you start eating anything normal that is not 100% fruits/veggies, you will gain it back. It will destroy your metabolism... anyhow, make your own choices, but this is hardly a book I would want in my library. The book does have pretty colourful pictures, that I will say. I’ve included samples here, I hope they are allowed, I didn’t try these two recipes, I might have if I had a better experience overall.

I love this book so much, simple and to the point. That’s what I love about how Kiki prepares her meals. I don’t want to be in the kitchen for hours cooking.... I HATE IT. I have better things to do 😂 I have cooked elaborate recipes A LOT in my life... I’m tired. I just want healthy food combinations that I can throw together in the blink of an eye and Kiki’s book delivers. If you are looking for gourmet 20 ingredient meals, this ain’t the book for you. But if you want delicious easy quick food combinations to have more time to get creative elsewhere than in the kitchen, I highly recommend this book.
