Physical Assessment of the Newborn, Sixth Edition, addresses the physical, physiologic, neurologic, and behavioral implications of a thorough assessment, and explains how healthcare providers can reduce the risks associated with the transition to extrauterine life and the neonatal period. Every system assessment represents the most up-to-date clinical content, rooted entirely in factual statistics and scientific evidence. Because assessment skills are such an integral aspect of practice, many individuals take them for granted, yet all health professionals who perform newborn examinations―including nurses, neonatal and pediatric nurse practitioners, nurse-midwives, physicians, therapists, and students preparing for advanced practice roles in neonatal care―can benefit from the essential content presented in this book. As far as books for baby, infant, and neonatal care go, this celebrated series stands with the best.
The updated sixth edition includes:
- Provides clinical updates throughout
- Presents an enhanced art program for state-of-the-art visual models
- Offers an all-new chapter on the perinatally substance-exposed neonate
- Includes an image and PowerPoint bank
Key features of this neonatal intensive care and newborn assessment text include:
- Addresses all key aspects of newborn assessment
- Provides a well-organized evaluation of individual body systems
- Assists practitioners in identifying infant state, behavioral clues, and signs of pain
- Examines the wide range of variation among newborns of different gestational ages
- Provides information related to a maternal history, including antepartum testing and intrapartum monitoring
- Written in an easy-to-read, user-friendly style
- Includes continuing education exam
“The text is… a core text for any program preparing individuals for advanced practice roles in perinatal and neonatal care, and it should be a resource in every setting providing care to neonates. At all levels of practice, it serves as a convenient reference to normal parameters, common variations, and less commonly seen abnormalities.”

No digital access
I also ordered this book and when I input the code for digital access, I was told the code was cancelled? I'm very disappointed that I can't access this book digitally as advertised.
NO DIGITAL ACCESS
I waited for almost 5 months to get this book. I pre-ordered it around March and got it in the mail by August. It is really a good book, I started browsing and I loved it. It is very simple and full of important details. I’m giving it one star because the DIGITAL ACCESS is not working. I kept on trying multiple times but kept on saying that the voucher is already expired. It is very disappointing that I bought this book for a certain price hoping that I can access it on my phone or computer.

Not new, used book, not digital access
If this is a "new" book why has the digital access code been removed? This book is clearly USED and you are falsly advertising it as a "new" book. The publisher includes digital access, a new product should come with all of the benefits.
Great resource
This is my favorite resource for new neonatal or postpartum nurses. We have the 5th ed on the department. I decided to get myself the 6th ed, and the additional color photos are great. I can't tell you how many times I've opened this book for help with subtle features and findings
