Pocket Edition Rocks!
So far I have bought several of these Pocket Edition books (Bestiary 2, 3, 4, and 5 as well as NPC Codex). The content is the same as the standard editions, but they are smaller paperback books (and cost about half the price). For me, the smaller size and cheaper price is excellent, especially since I am very careful with my books. The Bestiary 2 has a whole collection of creatures, good and evil, to populate your fantasy world. As I read through the Bestiary, I find myself imagining the many great adventures I could construct just from the descriptions of the creatures.
I used it already, good as expected
As a DM it is much easier having the hard copy at hand than looking at my screen especially when I have 10 other things I need my screen for. The pocket edition make it cheap enough for me to buy ( I did buy Bestiary 3 and CoTC in pocket additions as well)
Good less expensive version than full sized edition
Aside from the core rulebook, I try to buy the pocket editions both for cost savings and to reduce weight when I schlep these to my monthly games. This book was so useful that my daughter now has it (she DM's). Might have to buy a second copy.
Should be standard in any Pathfinder collection
If nothing else, a great deal of creatures found in the modules and adventure paths appear here. I would say Bestiary 1 and this really give you a solid pile of monsters to throw at the party. The art is top notch as usual with Paizo's main books. I love just paging through it to get adventure and encounter ideas. Also, always love the high quality of the Pathfinder books. Sometimes they will arrive with ever-so-slight scuffs or corner damage from shipping (don't let that turn you off, you can always exchange if you're unhappy with it) - my copy arrived in absolute pristine condition, I was almost afraid to open it.
This paperback version is great! it's cheap and it's not as heavy
This paperback version is great! it's cheap and it's not as heavy. While it it won't fit in your pocket a stack of these will be a bit kinder on your back. I do plan to baby these a bit more than my hardback books. The pages are the same as the hardback just a bit smaller. This is definitely a must if you're starting out in Pathfinder and can't drop the cash on all the books.
Meh
I didn't think it was possible for 3rd edition to get even uglier artwork, but at least the creature stats are more organized
A must have for any Pathfinder player or GM
These are more affordable and easier to carry to game sessions. I use these more than the hard cover books.
Great Product.
I've bought all three of the pathfinder Beastiary's. So I'll keep it short. It does exactly what it says it does, perfectly well, beautifully illistrated, and creativly. It's got 100s of Monsters or strange races, all drawn well, stated and with smallish blurbs. In a perfect world each of these would be 1000s of pages long with 10 pages or more per entry. Sadly that'd cost 100s of Dollars per and isn't realistic. All three Bestiary's are great.
Worthy Addition
The Bestiary 2 for Pathfinder is definately a worthy addition to the existing game. Are your players are getting a bit too used to the bestiary 1 creatures? I am finding I have to spend a lot of time creating variants in order to surprise them. The Bestiary 2 has a lot of new creatures across a range of CR's - some quite fantastic and probably only useful to very specific game settings but the multitude are easily slotted into your existing campaigns. There are new members of existing creature types - lots of new demons and devils, new dragons and giants etc (Adamantine golem anyone?!) The best thing is discovering creatures from the forgotten realms/dragon lance series e.g. Salvatore's Red Caps, Lewis Carroll's Jabberwock etc. Additonally it is nice to see new creature types - most have 5 or more members e.g. Daemons, Aeons, Gremlins, Inevitables and Nightshades to name a few. Finally, the artwork is beautiful and it is nice to see the continuation of full pages dedicated to each creature as per the Bestiary 1.
Crushes competition, worth every cent
Pathfinder is an RPG improving on the Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 edition, but playing by the same mechanics. In simpler terms, this book can be used with both the Pathfinder and D&D 3.5 game. This book may be the best effort Paizo has made to date. Wonderful designed, superior layout, and absolutely fun to read. From the 1st and 2nd edition of D&D there were some cool critters for players to engage that have faded from the lexicon. So many are returned, and improved, in this volume that I grin with pure joy at the turn of each page. Deamons are back, and better designed. There's Chupakabra. The Chaos Beast is remolded with fantastic results. And those other Dragons we used to have, nice to see that concept revived. I cannot emphasize how great this tome is. A wonderful tool for the game. Buy it! You'll be happy.

Great addition of a now-classic product
This is a fantastic collection of monsters for the Pathfinder Dungeons & Dragons 3.75 system. The pocket-size makes it very convenient the softcover makes it easy to flip through. And yet it is all large enough and presented well enough to be easy on the eyes.
Great book!
Great book!
An excellent expansion of monsters.
There isn't much I can say about this product. You're a GM. You need monsters. This book has them, plus over 200 beautiful artistic renditions of them. The book's theme is outsiders, introducing the Proteans, the Inevitables, the Agathions, the Daemons, and a slew of other outsiders. Other creature types are far from neglected and in true Paizo style this book pulls from mythology and literature, including C.S Lewis's Jabberwocky who dominates the cover illustration. If you're a GM, you want this book. Even if you think you don't, you actually do.
Good Book
I've been very happy with all the Pathfinder resources that I've purchased. The books seem sturdy. The artwork is good. The content is good. I have a small problem with the monsters they chose to add in the follow-up Bestiaries. I don't think most DMs are going to find uses for them unless characters are doing LOTS of planar travel or higher-end adventures.
Great buy
A must have for your gaming group. Love these books and the artwork.

Great book
This and bestiary 1 are hands down the best bestiary books. If you want monsters to throw at your players, this is a great choice.
More creature for you to choose from
The book has some incredible wacky beast to set the campaign in odd planes if you looking to create a story in a more fantastic environment.
Excellent
This book is an excellent addition to the growing library of the Pathfinder series. While necessary for the core gameplay, it is also recommended beyond that for the sheer quality of the volume. The love and work that has been put into this book is apparent in every piece literature and image in it. It's a MUST BUY, for any tabletop RPG fan!
Yep it's good and worth the money
Yeah, you need to buy this book. I would say this book is right up there with the players and game masters guides. After the bestiary 1 this is the fourth book I would suggest you purchase. It is five stars for the art alone. Well worth the wait.
Another must have!
As I've said over and over- more books does not make a game any better than it already is but this changes all of that. The inclusion of so many new monsters is another must have in your game library!
A full convert
I am so glad I moved to Pathfinder. All of my gamers are enjoying it. I love that the Bestiary 2 has a picture for every monster. I love the lay out. I am not sure I need another bestiary beyond 1 and 2. Beautiful book with much needed monsters. I love the new constructs. I wish we had more plant beasts so that I could mix up my game more.

Awesome
It's great if you got the time
I bought the book with all intentions of running my own campaign. Unfortunately life got too busy and Pathfinder ended up needing to be cut. Gave the book to my brother though and he's getting some good use out of it. Definitively a good buy for any Pathfinder DM.

Pretty Good
Really, what can I say, more monsters for one of my favorite games. How could this be a bad thing? The Artwork could be better, but it isn't the worst I've seen by a long shot.

Fantastic Expansion
This book adds a ton of great new creatures to the world of Golarion (Pathfinder setting). They are across all the different challenge ratings and are beautifully illustrated. A must have for adventuring.

Great!
A Wonderful Book!
A true gem to add to any Pathfinder player's library, this bestiary brings back old classics from first, second, and third edition. (Strange how beasties like the grick and the shambling mound are considered 'classic' these days, eh?) Not only that, but Bestiary 2 has also brought together a collection of monsters from the Pathfinder adventure paths, such as the shaitan and mothman. No Deep Crows, though, kids. You'll have to track that one by yourself. I was particularly amazed to see the Qliphoth from Green Ronin's Book of Fiends appear, revived for Pathfinder and beautifully illustrated in all their non-euclidean glory. Although information on each separate monster is sparse, and some of the illustrations seem out of place or simply sub-par compared to the body as a whole, I would still highly recommend this book.
Four Stars
Great variesty of creature for your RPG/Pathfinder campaign. Great quality printing and artwork. Another great Paizo product.

Awesome Bestiary
As many others have mentioned in much longer reviews, this bestiary is pretty awesome. Unlike the first one where it was more or less an updated 3.5 Monster Manual, this shows much more of Piazo's genius.
Will Buy from customer again
Book so good and in great shape
Worth the purchase
This is a great addition to any Pathfinder game. Plenty of new monsters and some that don't get much attention do. The artwork is great and the stat blocks well done. Really this isnt a question of IF for any pathfinder player but WHEN.
Part two of (hopefully) alot more.
More monsters to kill with and more player races to enjoy killing. T. P. K.'s with more options. 'nuff said.
pathfinder game book
Met all my expectations! Very nice, was a wonderful xmas present. My daughter loves it and is looking forward to book 3.
Simply BAD ASS!
Full of great monsters in an easy, clean format (One monster per page basically). Not only are the monsters powerful and various, but they all have their own quirks and habits that make them original. BUY it!
Cant have enough critters
Honestly, i bought this as a supplemental to my Rise of the Runelords Campaign. I am not disappointed. You can find a lot fo this info online, but there is just something about having the books.
Besides that its good!
Corners and spine were beat up to hell and back. Besides that its good!
there be more beasts here
You can never have enough monsters, even if a lot of them will rip you a new one before you can say ínevitable''.
Very good Rpg system
The pathfinder is a very good rpg system take all the best of d&d 3.5 and put out all that don't is good.
Excellent Addition
As its name implies, Bestiary 2 is the second full-length collection of creatures for Pathfinder. It's a big (320 page) book, and introduces, according to the back cover, over 300 different monsters. The vast majority of creatures get one page each (art, stat block, description), though there are a few pages with two monsters and a few monsters that get double-page spreads. In format, it's very similar to the first bestiary collection. Obviously, I can't review all the monsters individually, but I would like to list some of the creatures or new creature types that jumped out at me: * Aeons: Embodiments of neutrality striving to maintain universal balance, these cosmic entities are hard to conceptualise but interesting and important for planar travel. Several varieties are included here. I particularly liked "bythos", monitors of disruptions to time or space. * Agathions: Beastlike outsiders native to the neutral good plane Nirvana. The theme works surprisingly well, with each type having a distinct role. I've never really used these, but should. * Aranea: Super creepy pic! * Athach: Dumb, bizarre arm monster with no background. * Crypt Thing: Special teleport ability is pretty cool. * Daemons: Outsiders with a special desire to consume mortal souls. Still too similar to "demons" and I don't really see what distinct niche they fill. * Primal Dragons: Elemental-themed dragons plus a shadow plane-themed umbral dragon. * Elementals: Four new ones here (mud, lightning, magma, and ice) * Elemental (playable) races: Ifrits, undines, etc., are introduced here. * Giants: Four new ones, including rune and taiga. * Golems: Six new ones, with adamantine and clockwork the best. * Gremlins: New creature type, a good and suitably annoying addition to the game. * Inevitables: Lawful Neutral outsiders implacable in their goals. Each has a good nice. * Lycanthropes: Three new ones, with wereboars and weretigers having good, scary art. * Megafauna: Four new ones. * Nightshade: Introduced as a creature type, with a really cool description. * Proteans: Chaotic neutral outsider type. Not particularly interesting, and not obvious how to use well in a game. * Qlippoths: Pre-demon residents of the Abyss, they hate demons and mortals whose sins form them. A cool concept. Generally speaking, there are a lot of high-CR and a lot of gargantuan- and colossal- sized creatures. The book fills in a lot of the classics that weren't included in the first collection, and I also noticed a lot that appeared in Rise of the Runelords (including art reproduction). However, there are also a lot I've never heard of before despite gaming for a couple of decades. A good mix! Overall, an excellent, high-quality expansion to a GM's toolkit.
Paizo's good approach to monster books continues.
If there is the one type of RPG book that nobody ever has enough of, it's the monster books ! Bestiary 2 for Pathfinder RPG was a no-brainer, so here it is. ===PRESENTATION=== A solid sewn hardcover book with over 320 pages in full color. The artwork is even better than in the first Bestiary. This is perhaps the prettiest monster book in d20 history. There are several navigational aids, including indexes and CR tables. The book is a pleasure to look at and use. ===CONTENT=== Bestiary 2 was certainly a challenge to put together. The first one was rather easy - update as many 3.5 SRD monsters as possible, throw in some sprinkling of retro and Pathfinder critters, voila. Bestiary 2 has set out to meet several ambitious goals: 1. Updating the leftover SRD monsters. Most of them are in Bestiary 2 - Gray Render, Rast, Tendriculous and several more. A few (Tojanida, Delver) had the dubious honor of being featured in
Better than the first Bestiary? Yes, it is!
Bestiary 2 is another gold standard set by Paizo publication, and let me briefly tell you why: 1. Organization: the indexes, charts, organizing methods (by CR, alphabet, etc.) facilitates the reader down to only few seconds when she is searching her specific monster, so this really helps out the DM! 2. Variety: One weak link to the original bestiary was that it had monsters converted from the most commonly known standard monsters (very useful, but it's just too "vanilla"), but this time it includes a collection of monsters from lots of different sources; if I would have to make an analogy here, if the original Bestiary was as useful as the D&D 3.5 monster manual, then Bestiary 2 would be as useful as 3.5 monster manual 2&3 combined. And that folks, is pure gold. 3. The Art: If you like Pathfinder RPG art in general, if you like the art of the Original Bestiary art, then you will find another entirely new, and I dare say, a better drawn Bestiary book here. Even if you don't play Pathfinder RPG, if you are a fantasy art nut, then this book will totally be worthwhile for your money, just for the art itself. The only negative thing I have to say about this book is that, my friends are harassing it without cease, which proves how good the book is. Please, do not smudge your friend's book, and get one for yourself. Seriously.
Nice
As monster manuals go, this is as good as they get. I second just about everything all the previous reviewers said. Its pretty. Its big. Its chock full of good monsters. I like how they spent time beefing up the number of plants, fey, constructs, etc, that don't get as much play in the first bestiary. It seems like the Pathfinder people really listen to what's needed. The Advanced Player's Guide did the same for high level play by fleshing out the options after 10th level. My one little gripe is that its got a few monsters I'd be embarassed to use, like the Jabberwock.
So many great monsters
While the first bestiary was more of a covering-the-bases affair of dragons to vampires, the bestiary 2 has a lot of good, unique monsters all beautifully illustrated to strike fear in the heart of any adventurer. If you like what paizo has been doing and are a GM I would recommend this. If, however, you are so involved with the pathfinder series you have read every single adventure that has come out, you will find little new though it is nice to have it all collected in one place.
Another Awesome Paizo Product
The one thing they could have added which would flesh this book out much better would be to include a much longer explanation and narrative describing the monster. There is all of this cool data and awesome artwork, but there isn't enough narrative to give a good "feel" for the monster (how it acts, ecology, typical reactions, trivia, etc.) Otherwise,a high quality tool.
Another hit out of the park!
Paizo/Pathfinder is really on a 'roll' here. The Bestiary 2 is the latest in a long series of reference books for the Pathfinder Role-playing Game. As such it has a lot to live up to. And boy, does Paizo deliver! Like the first Bestiary, B2 offers up hundreds of monsters, some new, some old - and all presented in neat, orderly stat blocks for a GM's viewing pleasure. The art in particular is gorgeous! I personally found many creatures to my liking, and intend to drop them into my personal campaign immediately. This book is nearly perfect. Buy this now!
Great variety of monsters!
Fey, outsiders, golems, dragons, drakes, undead, animals, magical beasts...all of these are present and well represented. The mix of CRs is fantastic! It will be useable throughout the gaming experience, regardless of level. Thank you Paizo.
Like the GM needed more Monsters...
The Art work is stelar, the Info is tight. But like My GM needed more to try and kill my PC, but it keeps on our 'toes' and we never know who is the good guy, or just the lesser of two evils.
Perfect for any fan
Bought for my son
Excellent product
Excellent product. Great packaging. Good price.
Has a good smattering of different monster types
Every entry in this book is just as well thought out, illustrated and executed as the original Bestiary. Encounters for all levels are included. Has a good smattering of different monster types. If you only have the first Bestiary I would highly recommend this as your next purchase.
More room on the gaming table
My big hardbound version of this is getting somewhat worse for wear and I wasn't sure about these due to text size, let's face it, it's half the size. Needn't have worried, it's great, and is excellent because it doesn't take up half the room on the table when I'm GM'ing. Much easier to have open for the relevant encounter. Got it after I tried the core rulebook in this format and liked it so much I got the bestiaries too. Durability? Can't comment as only had it a few weeks, but seems to be fine.

A Sequel That Works
Very good book. Brings back some old favourites, sometimes in new and slightly odd guises (who can say Open Gaming Licence). A day after receiving this from Amazon my campaign went through a fairly drastic re-write. Re-writing campaigns is not work - it is the distilation of malice (GM) and inside jokes (many many sessions with friends). Bestiary 2 has renewed some of those old inside jokes.
very useful But the pages are wrong. ):
A very useful guide for my role play group, clearly laid out and beautifully drawn However the book I received has duplicated and missing pages which is irritating.

I was expecting to find the creatures that hadn't made the first cut. It was a nice surprise to find out that this book was a good read since moré than a few creatures included have good background or mythology, giving me ideas for future adventures

Bestiary 2 is a much appreciated addition to the pathfinder line of books. There are over 200 monsters contained within and each presents its own unique options for any campaign. As always the artwork deserves particular note, it is absolutely beautiful and an image is provided for every creature in the book. There are additional creatures for the categories of Dragon, Devil, Demon and other standard types. There are unique creature categories in this book as well including Nightshades a series of creatures from nightmares made of darkness and smoke and The Aeons creatures beyond understanding that maintain the balance and order of the universe. Unique player races are also include in this book as with all other bestiaries some of the special ones in this book include the Oread a humanoid made of stone and the Ifrit a humanoid with the affinity for flame. I recommend this book with the same fervor I do for all of the bestiaries sold by Paizo.
Splendido
Come DM apprezzo molto avere questi contenuti per me. I disegni sono davvero, davvero belli, e posso assicurarvelo anche come artista con esperienza.
Fantastic layout
Really enjoyed flipping through this book looking at the creatures one could use for setting encounters of all kinds for your players. I love the classifications they set for each of the creatures as well as the general unique design of some of the creatures and the artists imagining of what these fantastical creatures would look like. At the price even much better value in the end from my perspective. Will be looking at possibly picking up Bestiary 1 or 3 at this point.
Like the hardcover, but smaller
Very good material if you do not play at home and have to carry many books with you.
Great for DMs
Another great D&D resource book, easily carries over to 5e with a couple modifications.

Another great product from Paizo
As I stated in my Bestiary 3 review, the Bestiary line is fantastic for whipping up an encounter with a hitherto unexpected creature to surprise the players. Only a select few would be able to memorise this many creatures! Lol
Five Stars
10/10 would buy again.
