From the Scottish Highlands to the courts of Versailles to the eastern shores of North America, the TV show Outlander brings to life in gorgeous detail the epic love story of Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser. But beyond the drama and passion, what has captured fans’ imagination the most are the rustic knits worn on the show.
Now knitters of all skill levels can recreate them with twenty projects for apparel, accessories, and home décor that take inspiration from memorable episodes. Knit the capelet cowl that Mrs. Fitz gives to Claire at Castle Leoch, warm your feet with Clan Mackenzie Boot Socks, swaddle your bairn with the Mo Chridhe Baby Blanket, and dress your Jamie in a warm waistcoat. From chunky knits to Celtic cables, each project includes a clearly written pattern, gorgeous photography, and scenes from the set.
A love letter to the fans, Outlander Knitting will have you wishing you could time travel to the Highlands.

Very disappointed in this book.
Very disappointed in the patterns in this book. Most of the patterns did not reflect or ever appear in the series. I’m a published knitwear designer and I’m very disappointed in the lack of authenticity in this book. Pictures from the series in the book are beautiful but that is not why I purchased this book. I’m probably going to return it.
Unauthentic!! Not a good representation!
I was excited to receive this book. However, when it came and I looked through it, I was so disappointed and then a bit angry. The fabulous knitwear that I so loved from the Outlander series was not represented or was misrepresented. The lack of natural dye colors was shocking! I wanted authenticity, not a bastardized mix of nasty modern styles and garish colors!! Turquoise!!? Really???
Not what I expected.
An absolute disappointment. I’m not interested in an interpretation of the knitted clothing on Outlander. I would like to have the actual instructions to reproduce the knitted items. There are only a couple of the items that I might knit, otherwise, a waste of my money.
Pretty book but
Really nothing jumps at me to make. I’d like to see more of the item before I knit it. Not a scrunched up version. This will sit on my shelf until more people make and catalogue items on Ravelry and by then I’ll have moved onto knitting something else.
Disappointing!
Extremely disappointed to receive this book! I was under the impression that as the official pattern book there would be actual replicas of some of the knitted garments from the show. Except the rent shawl, which you can find on Ravelry, there is nothing extraordinary about this book.
Beautiful book
I was nervous before I received my copy of the Outlander Knitting book because there are so many negative reviews. I thought I would be sending it back, but not so. I don't understand the negative reviews. The book is beautiful. The photographs are wonderfully representative from the series and show many many of the knitted designs from the 1940's, 1960's, and 1740's. Some of the knitting patterns are exact replicas of the knitted costumes and some are representations. At least two are for the men in the series. Sadly, my trip to Scotland this year will probably be postponed until next year due to Covid, but I would love to make a couple of the knits for our trip, especially if we go in the Fall.
Beautiful book!!
I love this book!! If the patterns were of the actual knitted items from the Outlander show, I don’t think I would have made anything because everything would have looked too outdated for our present time. I enjoyed reading about the inspiration for each of the patterns and I can’t wait to get started knitting these beautiful knits.
Fantastic!
Fabulous book with beautiful patterns. A few are very similar to lots of patterns people have been recreating on Ravelry since Outlander premiered, but most of them are unique and not what we knitters have already been making for 5 years now. Can't wait to start knitting!
Beautifully Done!
I’m so excited to knit many of the projects in this book! This is a beautifully written book with lots of pictures from the show tying in to the projects.
Great for Outlander Lovers.
Love the patterns. There are a variety of patterns for skill ranges beginner to expert knitter. Range of yarns used as well. Love that the inspiration pieces / scenes are highlighted. I haven’t knit a pattern yet so cannot comment on how well the patterns are written (tested).

Loved the pictures and real life knitting projects great for if your a down to earth type gal.
Unique & intricate designs
Really beautiful and intricate designs. Some are so exciting we cant wait to try them out! Might be challenging for a beginner like us but definitely something to work up to!
Beautiful pictures of knits from Outlander.
Beautiful pictures of finished products including shots from Outlander where you see Jaime and Claire wearing the knits.
Just what we were looking for
I'm part of a small knitting group and we all watch the Outlander show. I ordered this for a friend and then ordered another copy for myself. Great photos and we can't wait to start knitting the items.
Outlander Knitting Book
The Outlander knitting book is awesome. The book contains patterns that Claire and others wear in the show. It is well suited for the beginning knitter as well as the advanced knitter.
Speedy Delivery
perfect gift for my wife
Nice Book
The photos are really nice in this book. There are 20 patterns many that are very detailed for a basic knitter. I will be making the arm warmers.
Beautiful book
Beautiful book with patterns I expected and hoped to see!
Outlander clothing fan
I love this book but am going to gift it. I don’t knit but my aunt does and I want her to make something in the book.
Wonderful Book
I love this book and all the patterns in it. I haven't made anything yet, but hope to in the future.
Great gift for knitters and fans alike!
I got this for my Mom for her birthday. She was over the moon. She has already started making pieces from the book.
Exciting, beautiful but frustrating book.
Photography beautiful. Patterns, however, have some problems. In the first two I have tried, there have been mistakes in the written instructions. I am an experienced knitter and was able correct the instructions for myself. This would be very frustrating to the average knitter.
Fiber Artists NEED!!
Beautiful book with the patterns!
Can't wait to get knitting again
The patterns are fabulous! I am having surgery next week so haven't been able to knit lately, but I am looking forward to digging in.
Wonderful pieces for Outlander projects
Daughter in law will love this for her birthday. She's gotten quite good with her knitting. Great pics and item choices to do.
Beautiful book but all advanced skill patterns.
Not a book for novices!
Great book
Some great patterns
It is a beautiful book
The knitting is beyond my capabilities so I am going to give it to my daughter in law
Lovely knitting patterns
Lovely patterns with easy to follow instructions
Outlander!
History, photographs, directions for replicas from the show. A unique book!
Arrived damaged.
This book came in really poor condition. Unfortunately I don’t have time to return it because it’s a gift and it came the day of, but I’m really unhappy that it arrived in this condition
Great book
We love the series! My wife just loves the book!
Looking forward to make some of these items like worn in Outlander!!!
Saw the series and fell in love with all of the woven pieces.
Great

Outlander feelings
Great recipes
Great patterns and pictures
Love this book
Period incorrect knitting
I would never buy this book for the simple reason that except for the arm warmers there are no shawls or cowls in the 18th century . All knitting was done in the round, like socks, caps, mittens, and arm warmers. The costumer for Outlander is horrible , especially with the women's clothing. I cringe the longer the season goes on. She gets the men's clothing mostly right, but the women's clothes? Uuuuuggghhh. Maybe if you want to ccosplay a specific Outlander character this book would be helpful. But don't wear those items to an 18th century reenactment or you'll get snickered at. If it's a credible reenactment that is.
Must have for knitting Outlander fans
This hardcover is full of beautiful full-color photos of projects from the T.V. series Outlander. I'm having a hard time deciding what to make first! This is an absolute must have for any fan of the show that knits!
GREAT!
I gifted this to a friend for her birthday. She's loving it!
Interesting patterns
Great book for Outlander fans that enjoy knitting. The pattern designs were inspired by the costumes worn on the show as well as the storylines and history of Scotland.
Don't waste your money!
Tea cosy? I don't recall seeing one through all 5 series or yellow chevron gloves! Only 5 patterns are copies of items worn! If I cba to return it I would! Claire's crochet cardigan they knitted and her blue knitted one isn't in there!
Keyword = "Inspired"
Not the official patterns from the show, don't be fooled by the word Official in the title, this just means they can use pics from the show. Some patterns are similar and can be adapted to match originals, others have only the most tentative link. Sponsored by a yarn brand, so ignore all recommended yarns too. There's just enough official content & photos to make it a good coffee table book. If you want patterns from the show, look elsewhere where they're free.
Large book
Seems ok but bought as a gift.
