Hilarious & thought provoking! This is one of the absolute best daily devotions I have ever read. Jen Hatmakers ability to make me feel like I'm a friend & laugh along & relate to her own personal stories, is a rare find for me. I am on day 30 of the 40 day devotional & my book is full of things I've highlighted along the way. I already plan on rereading it once I finish because I gained so much from it. It is practice & down to earth, a quick & easy read, but it makes you think about things you typically put to the side or brush off. A good example for me is when she talked about getting annoyed at her husband for going to work & all the sit down restaurants, adult interactions & fun he must be having, while she is at home with the kids & not doing any of those things. But then it puts the husband/wife work/home relationships into perspective & it made me take a deep breath & realize I've been treating my husband unfairly on this exact thing. I plan on purchasing more copies of this devotional for my sister & friends. I cannot recommend it enough!

Almost every devotion speaks right to me. I do not particularly like devotions like Jesus Calling. Just too poetic, but don't feel very applicable to me. These devotions are like talking to a girlfriend from the heart. They are reminders and thoughts that help me as a wife and mom. If you love Jen Hatmaker, you'll love these devotions. I have read the book a couple times and will read the devotions again. I actually read quite a few at one time because I just can't put the book down!

Since becoming a mom, I’ve had a hard time; not just finding time to connect with God in any meaningful way, but also finding a devotional that connects with me. The warm fuzzy or overly religious tone of the majority of the books available was disheartening. Out of the Spin Cycle is completely, refreshingly different and speaks to me daily. Jen Hatmaker is warm, honest, hilarious and real in her writing - it felt like a great friend was sitting alongside me making me laugh, sharing her own shortcomings and pointing me back to what matters. I have been so affirmed in reading this book, but also challenged in how to better love God, my husband and my children - in immensely practical ways. I almost always have a takeaway - a thought or challenge to mull over or enact as I go about my day. The chapters are short and manageable to read daily and always point to truth and are solidly biblically based without using super religious language. This book is a keeper - I’ve already started re-reading it.

Recently picked this up on a markdown (Kindle version) and read it as a little bedtime reading, on and off. Enjoyed the book and Jen's trademark wise-cracking humor. I have read her other books Interrupted, 7, For The Love, and Of Mess and Moxie, and I have also read where she doesn't recommend her own works earlier than Interrupted. I thought that this book was fun and lighthearted. I could definitely sense that it was thissssss closeeee to the no-nonsense, hard-hitting, tell it like it is Jen of her later books. Overall, I enjoyed reading it and am not sorry that I purchased it.

I've just recently discovered Jen and am loving everything she's written. This book speaks to me as a mom. So much of what we speaks about easily applies to my life. I love the short chapters which contain a personal story, small lesson, and connection to scripture/Jesus. I love that it doesn't sound "preachy."

I love to give books as gifts. This one is one of my favorites for new moms. Its a good read and any place in you mom journey. Love the encouragement and real life practical things about it.

Short chapters make this relatable devotional easy for moms to read. Each chapter offers a unique perspective and practical application for being a mom. Your parenting style, view of your kids, and view of yourself will be changed for the better. This book is a keeper to read over and over again.

Jen Hatmaker is awesome! I rccommend any Christian Mom read anything and everything from her and her blog too! I loved Spicy Families and about getting a shovel- go read the blog!ots of laughs and real personal stories. We are all human and it's great when you can laugh at yourself and realize you're not alone and also be guided spiritually by a wonderful Christian Mom like Jen. Highly Recommended!

I really, really enjoyed this book. Jen Hatmaker does a great job of combining humor and heart to provide an uplifting and thought provoking experience. It was greatly encouraging to me, and I would definitely buy this or recommend it to a friend. The only con I have is that there isn't another one like it for me to read ;)

Wonderful collection of devotionals geared towards moms. So many of these touched my heart just where I needed encouragement... in marriage, in discipline, in time management.

I'm a mom of five kids and time hasn't always been something I've had a lot of. This daily devotional was easy to find time for. It was both entertaining and had deep insights. I love how transparent Jen is about motherhood, sharing both the joys and her missteps in funny and relatable ways.

I love Jen Hatmaker's style. She's honest, witty and vulnerable. I found a lot of encouragement from these devotionals. If you're looking for a quick daily dose of parenting encouragement, and a few laughs, this is for you.

This devotional is wonderful in so many ways... Each day's reading is short and to the point but still SO meaningful to the overwhelmed mom. Jen's humor and honesty makes ANY mom who deals with isolation feel not-so-alone, like Jen is a new BFF. I got to the end of this book (ebook so I didn't know how many pages were left) and said "Nooooo!!!" I wanted it to keep going and going! :)

I LOVE this study. It is written with biblical values and sprinkled with comedy. This is the first devotional that I have read that was super fun and easy. I definitely recommend this for new Christians and mama's who need some comedic relief during the hectic times of life.

I was listening to a borrowed copy of this from the li rary and i just had to buy it. Its just so real and really makes me think.

It was such a treat to sit down and read these mini devotionals, to laugh a little, and be challenged a little every day.

This book is excellent for mothers of young children. It depicts real life and how crazy and chaotic motherhood can be in a humorous light hearted manner. It helps mothers of young children feel normal when they may feel at times they are going crazy. God's truths and biblical teachings are woven in to daily life of the average mother.

Not even through it all yet but I love the daily encouragement for moms of littles! Jen is funny and relatable!

Jen’s writing is amazing! Her sense of humor brings you in. Even though my kid is an adult, I loved reading this & was sad to finish.

The quick entertaining reads in this book were both challenging and comforting. I would recommend this book to any mother. It is a great way to start the day in order to keep your mind on what is important throughout the day. I write her little challenges on a chalk board where I can see it to remind me.

Fantastic. I’m no longer a young mom, but read it before giving it as a gift. Practical, fun, and based on the truth of Scripture.

It's not quite as in depth as I was looking for, but Jen Hatmaker does make you think twice about how you view your life, in the moment. Laundry, Cheerios, dirty diapers, mom wars, and all.

The short, funny, down to earth and easy to digest devotionals are nonetheless full of truth and food for thought. The questions at the end of each devotional can easily get you started on that which needs improvement. A delightful devotional that I was sad to finish. I will start yet again and this time I will probably journal.

Wonderful book. The devotionals were shorter than what I wanted but I would just read a couple in one day instead. Can't wait to read more of her work!

I'm a fan of Jen's so I may be biased. This book was a great read because it made me realize that I'm normal. Regardless of what my own self_doubt screams in my ear, it's okay NOT to be perfect. I pray for real community and trust of other women like Jen describes in her book as well. I recommend this book to any woman with kids and a sense of humor, you will be cracking up.

Jen has a way with words and just knows. She gets it. She is the best friend you always wish for, she's the big sister you need, she's the mentor that guides you, pushes you, learns with you about God and life and with this book, motherhood. She makes you feel better about yourself but doesn't give you the excuse to stay where you're at-she challenges you. God has blessed her with the heart and the words to really be a voice of our generation. You won't regret buying this devotional. Plus....she's stinkin' hilarious.

This is such an awesome devotional for moms. Each day the devotional seemed to be just what I needed. They are very light hearted and Christ driven. I highly recommend. A friend bought this for me and I have bought it for several other friends.

This book was a blessing to me. It was written in a way that made it easy to follow. I appreciated Jen's transparency and willingness to share out of her weaknesses as well as strengths. My kids aren't preschoolers anymore but these insights were still valuable. I highly recommend this author!

I bought this for several of my mom friends. We really need to be careful to nurture and challenge that side of ourselves. This devotional does an amazing job at that.

This is a must read for mothers of younger kids. I have 4 and 5 year old boys. It's not a day by day devotional which I really like. I pick it up sometimes a few times a week sometimes only a couple of times a month. It's a quick few minutes per devotional but always makes me smile and gives me an action step for putting it into practice. I've been dreading running out of devotionals, which actually just happened. I purchased this on the Kindle so just "flipped" it back to the beginning and plan to read through them again as I need them. Great for those days when you just feel like you're a terrible mom or need a bit of encouragement! Highly recommend!!!

This book has been huge for me. It' hilarious and heartfelt and completely relatable. With being a busy mom of young kids, it gave me fitting practical, tangible ways to choose to obey Him daily.

The author is able to put everyday life experience right in front of you where you can relate and feel it as well. You laugh and relive many things right along with her. Her thoughts and scriptures encourage you as well as make you look within yourself a little deeper. Great read.

This devotional is so wonderful. I have three kids 4 and under, and it hits right at what life looks like. She's incredibly funny, and leverages that humor to drive home messages that literally change my days. Our God is so big, but sometimes when you've been a Christian for a while it seems like you've heard all of the usual messages. This devotional spins things around and gives a completely new take on Bible verses and messages. God is using it in my life daily and blessing my family through that. Plus. I want to hang out with Jen Hatmaker. If I lived anywhere near her, I'd track her down and make her be my friend. : )

I read this book for my MOPS Steering team Bible Study. I had not heard of Jen Hatmaker or the book Out of the Spincycle until that time. I absolutely LOVED this book for the following reasons: 1) Jen speaks to mothers about mothering. She talks about the things that some of us only think because we are afraid of all the "perfect" moms looking down their noses at us. But she is honest, straight forward, and provides thought-provoking solutions that are biblical. 2) She is just plain funny! 3) The devotionals are short and to the point. Let's face it! I have a 3 year old and infant twins. I don't have time for hours on end studying the Bible right now (ok Perfect moms...you can stone me now). These devotionals allow me to focus on various aspects of motherhood from a biblical perspective without having to spend hours on end that I don't have. For all new moms (and moms that have been at it for awhile) this is a devotional for you. I'm curious now to read some of her other books

Jen Hatmaker is such a candid, funny, and inspiring writer! This is the first book I read of hers, and I have already purchased 2 others written by her. This Christian devotional is unlike any other that you'll pick up. It discusses real life as a mom, in all the crazy little moments that moms experience, and brings the reader closer to Jesus all the way through. There are questions at the end of each entry to stimulate thinking and practical application. I love this devotional and I plan to read it again in the future.

Jen Hatmaker has an amazing way of helping you feel at ease in your role as a Mom while strongly encouraging you that Jesus has the answers to your struggles and shortcomings. It has been medicine to my soul to sit down with this book every morning.

If you love to laugh, buy this book. End of story. You will laugh so hard, but also enjoy the wisdom and biblical principles Jen provides. I really want to be her BFF.

We use this book at a mom's group at my church as a devotional to help lead the discussion in a Christ based but relatable direction. So far it has sparked some very meaningful and genuine discussions and we are excited to continue. Jen Hatmaker has a tone that is both easy to read and very relatable. Even those of us that only have a few free minutes in the day have time to to read and reflect. The challenges she proposes are both doable and eye opening. I would recommend it to others.

Such a realistic book that deals with true life situations of a mother and her family. Great writing and easy to read.

Jen Hatmaker takes a look at motherhood as we remember it and puts it into the positive, humerous adventure it truly was. Many moms go through trying times, lonely times, and it is good to know so do all the other moms who seem to have everything together. Really enjoyed every word and ordered another of her books for further enlightenment.

Love her candid style and real perspective. Thought provoking and challenging while making you realize we are all less than perfect and should stop comparing ourselves to images of perfection that do not exist. We are all going through mom struggles and should support our sisters rather than pretend our world is perfect and without real challenges. I love then Jen openly admits to her real life family struggles and allowed us to laugh with her in what we have all experienced at some level but don't always want to admit. Highly recommend this book to all moms - especially new moms who need to hear everyone else has gone through the same thing.

I loved this book! It was funny, insightful, and uplifting. I tried to only read one a day, as a devotional, but enjoyed it so much it was hard to stick to one!

Not my favorite, she's very intertaining at first. After a few chapters her sense of humor kind of gets annoying. I understand her heart but she goes from a funny story to very serious in one sentence. Not my kind of devotional. I enjoy more challenge in my quiet time than funny stories.

I really liked how Jen asked her readers to do some quick self reflection at the end of each reading. Well worth the time spent reading. The humor and use of her life and those around her as examples helped make it an easy read. I would encourage those reading to return to the challenges she poses and truly do some self reflection. This book rang true in a lot of ways, however I think it would also benefit by including more examples relative to working mothers.

I purchased this book simply because I love Jen Hatmaker. I am a grandmother, but I love to encourage young moms. After reading the first few chapters, I knew that I had to share the book! I laughed and cried and wished that I had read it about forty years ago, which of course is impossible since Jen was not writing from her crib. I gathered a group of moms together and we read it over the summer. Without exception, they loved it. I highly recommend it to moms of all ages!

Written by a mom who understands the daily struggles we as moms experience. I am learning and growing so much.

I found this so encouraging. I already loved Jen, but this devotional felt like it was written just for me. I looked forward to reading it (sometimes multiple entries a day) because it encouraged me so richly and fueled me for my very full days of serving and loving on four kids under five. I would consider this a must have for all moms who are in the throes of parenting. It will help you connect with Jesus, your life-giving source, and breathe life into your day.

This book should be a pre-requisite for new moms. It's funny while being very insightful. The author has three children and gives advice on how to stay sane while being a good example for them. The biblical references are perfect and thoroughly modern. In fact, Jesus, while he was not a parent, gives the best advice for raising little ones who love God, know what's important, and live to be kind and generous.

I have already recommended this book to all of my girlfriends. I found it to be extremely refreshing, yet applicable to my every day life. Somehow Jen Hatmaker can make me laugh so hard and yet be so compelling that I remember exactly what I read all day and can apply it to my life. I think because all four of my children are still ages 6 and under, most of the things that she wrote about are really relevant to me right now. I will probably read this book again soon, and then pass it on to another friend to be blessed by it too.

I wanted to like this book, but I felt like the writer was in a constant string of personal petty matters. She also uses a tone that is condesending. I was over it after 3 chapters. There was no heart felt drive to increase your prayer life or faith for you and your family. Try Pricilla Shirer.

Great book!

This is an awesome devotional and it seems especially written for moms of the preschool and younger crowd. Lighthearted, funny, and real. It's obvious Jen has been where I am right now...and she lived to tell about it.

Easy to read and to relate to. I use chapters for monthly meetings with our Manna for Mothers grout at church. We all get a great laugh!
