Shonen is slowly becoming an over saturated market. You get more and more series that repeat themselves and lose their spark like Nauto, and less series like Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure that are so outlandish and well written that they can still be interesting and fresh. Going into One Piece, I wondered what it would be like. The answer? A brilliant, unique adventure that sets itself apart from any series I’ve come across in just THREE volumes! Three mere volumes is all it took for me to love a Shonen other than JoJo. Join Monkey D. Luffy as he sets off to become the pirate king and secure the OnePiece- the ultimate treasure. From the writing to the artwork, OnePiece is one of a kind. Every character and expression is lively and outlandish, but equally understandable and relatable. Luffy, a boy with a rubber-like body, aspires to be like his idol. Zoro, a tri-wielding pirate, wants to keep a promise to a long lost friend. Nami, a young navigator who despises pirates, finds friends in the most unlikely of people. All these characters couldn’t exist in real life how they do in the manga, but the way they’re written makes them feel real. If you’re losing faith in the Shonen genre, get this manga and reignite your passion.

The English version is... Okay. The wording is noticeably more awkward than the fan translations and were probably done by someone who isn't a native English speaker. At times, it just sounds strange - the choice of words doesn't always match the speaker well. You will have some super strong-looking, pissed off dude using words like "rascal" instead of something like "bastard". You have luffy using words like "biddy" to describe an annoying old lady instead of something like "old hag" (who the heck uses the word biddy?!?!). Instead of "damn it" they will say "drat". The list goes on... They also refer to Zoro as "Zolo" which is also very annoying. Overall, it's worth a buy to support the manga, but I would definitely stick to the fan translations. It's nice if you love One Piece and want to collect the books.

Well, I agree with the characters since we are all to be dead someday no matter how desperately we struggle to live, and I believe it is a good life if you do not regret at the end thinking, 'darn, I'm dying anyway, should've tried that dream of mine when I had chance.'

After hearing about One Peice, I finally decided to take a look. And now, I understand why this series has reached the acclaim it has. The famous Gold Roger, king of the pirates, makes a declaration before he is beheaded. His treasure, the famous One Piece, is hidden in the grand line. Whoever finds it is welcome to it. Years later, a young boy by the name of Monkey D. Luffy plans to do just that and become king of the pirates. But he eats the Gum Gum fruit which curses him with a rubber body and he can never swim again. It's strange and surreal but it works. The world created by Oda is filled with contains of interesting, vibrant charecters. While the art style is also a bit surreal, it's not too distracting and like I said before, it works. Everything comes otgether to create a really interesting story with loads of great charecters.

One Piece: East Blue, Volumes 1-2-3 is a nice three-in-one volume for those interested in a very different manga. It's rated T for teens, and it's about a teenage boy who has dreamed of becoming a pirate his whole life. He can't swim because he ate the Gum-Gum fruit, but he can stretch like Plastic Man. In volumes 1-3, he finally becomes a pirate, assembles a crew of three and takes to the seas in two small boats. At 600 pages, and for under $10, the three-in-one mangas are a great buy, but how good is One Piece? It's really hard to judge a 30+ volume series based on just a few volumes, but I'd like to compare it to half a dozen other mangas I've gotten this far into. It's not the best at this stage (that would be Hunter X Hunter or Death Note), but it's very funny and readable. I'll be buying Volumes 4-5-6 as soon as possible, and I'm very glad I found this series. ****1/2

This omnibus contains the first 3 volumes of One Piece, which are introductory volumes (Yes, 3 whole introductory volumes), not that it is bad or anything, One Piece is an extremely fun read, and things just get even better as the volumes go on! Enter Luffy, I'm sure we all know who he is and how he looks like, but just in case (And for the sake of wanting to write this), I will explain who he is! Monkey D. Luffy is an aspiring pirate king who at a young age vows to find the biggest treasure in the whole world, the One Piece! But before he sets sail, he eats the Gum-Gum fruit, allowing him to stretch every limb in his body (almost) infinitely. Luffys quirky design and actions make reading his dialogue very fun even for adult readers! I am 17 and I love One Piece, every thing about it is just genius in my opinion! There is enough going on in each panel to keep the attention of young readers as well. I am reading One Piece to my little sister, and even through the background stories and explanations, she really enjoys it! Luffy is constantly getting into trouble, and his inability to think before he acts results in comical outcomes! Other characters are constantly yelling and reprimanding Luffy, but he doesn't seem to care, he just punches when he wants! The art in One Piece is dated, but good. The manga was originally created in 1997, so the characters may seem a little too cartoony for traditional manga readers, but that is alright. Imperfections in the art MUST be forgiven due to old age. Overall, One Piece is a must read for ANY manga reader of any age, give the manga 3 volumes, then see if you like it or not. I have the Omnibus versions of 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9, and I just can't get enough! At some point though, you are going to want to buy the tankobon versions, they have better paper quality and look very slick on your bookshelf! I rate this a 5/5, the perfect read for any age

Pros: Great read, great value, and funny. Cons:Slightly corning sayings and Zoro as Zolo. Book was great, I am caught up on the anime and decided to restart my adventure via the manga. The first three volumes where, as expected, great. Now about the cons. The reason they don't effect the rating is because 1. The zoro -zolo thing is not the translators fault but the difference in copy wright law between each country. 2.The sometimes corny use of sailor sayings like "scalywag" whyll are in fact sometimes off putting to read I am not a 100% sure if Oda (the author and illistrator) had that originally in the Japanese version or jot. In all I thought it was great and if you are new to the manga/anime I would suggest to at least push yourself til you get to the "arlong" arc. That arc for most people tells them if they want to move further or not.

One Piece is just one of those stories that automatically draws you in. I won't lie, you'll have to bear with it until the end of this omnibus to see the progression. If you can make it to arlong park you'll be an extremely happy for it. Pay attention to offhand comments and throw away names because Oda has a habit of making them important. He also uses lore and just random facts to support his crazy abilities and behaviors.

I got this cause i'm to cheap to buy all 3 book individually. I read these online, but since i loved this manga so much, i wanted to support it and purchase it. I lent it to my nephew(9 and 12) to read, and they can stop reading it. Looks like i'm going to have to buy these one by one as they have caught up.

i grew up with this series and i always have wanted to own the first few volumes. this book arrived packaged well and in great condition . its a big deal compared to buying the volumes individually.

One of the best mangas in existence, it may start off a bit weak but Its a masterpiece in the making.

But the Price is a little expensive but if you are a fan of One Piece it will be so Great !

Bought volume 1-9, 3 books and they all came in one package with no wrap or support to protect the volumes from the shipping. Since these volumes have loose manga pages, they were easily damaged from the slightest drop of a package. For me, only some corner bumps and a tiny cut, but I would like a proper wrapper for these delicate manga books in the future. Amazon prime! Other than that, this manga looks great! Thanks Oda.

I loved this! Super fun read however it was a little beat up when I got it.

I've been a fan of the series for over ten years and I've always loved. This is my first time purchasing an English translated manga and I have to say it was just as good as I expected even though the translation falls short sometimes when using American idioms which force me to have a small break to facepalm myself. Other than that, it is an excellent purchase and I recommend it for everyone getting into the series.

The copy I got had a typo through out the whole book not a big deal but it’s one of the main characters names.

Bought the book for my son. He is an absolute One Piece junky. Makes a change to see him reading rather than catching up on the latest episode on his lap top. Purchasing from Amazon was simple and they were very helpful when delivery took a little longer than expected. All good.

I would have given this five stars but the company that translates the manga to english edited all the profanity out of it... WHY? I am 30 years old... I am pretty sure I won't be scandalized by cuss words. Plus manga is not really geared for children anyway. Manga and anime does not equal cartoon.

My book came with the first 34 pages missing :( had to look them up on the internet to read them. Ruined most of the fun.

One Piece is my favorite series but the translator, i feel, just ruins these first 3 volumes by adding the most stupid american sayings. Although it doesnt happen often, but when it does i just have to facepalm and chug through the horid translations. It's really hard. Another reason why i gave it a 2 star is because the paper and cover feel like tissue paper and it would be really easy to rip,tear,bend,burn,slash, and smudge. Although it hasn't happened yet i can feel that something bad will come to this VizBig volume and ruin it, although i wouldn't be to sad because i hate this volume and how viz handled this....thing. I don't recommend buying this unless you want flimsy pages and horrible translations. Although it is very cost effective.

My father brought this 3-in-1 book back from a trip and before long my brother and I were hooked on the series(we got this book in January,now in March we're on volume 51). It's cute, funny and unique. It's got lots of action with some of Oda's unusual sense of humor thrown in. The 3-in-1 volume is a great buy because it's light, (surprisingly), thick and can be read over an over again. But some should note that despite the immature looking hero the book is rated 13+ (although my brother,10 read it)because some blood is spilled (and in later books there is some sexual humor).

After reading "Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Ball Z", I had gotten hooked onto Japanese comic books, more commonly known as "manga". After Dragon Ball, I began exploring more manga series, and I came upon "Bleach", "Fullmetal Alchemist", and "One Piece". One Piece was the longest, spanning 61 volumes and still going. I had first heard of One Piece in a volume of Shonen Jump, and I called it "the weird looking-logo one". I had no idea what the blue-colored logo was, but then my friend said that it was called "One Piece". After finishing the first nine volumes of "Dragon Ball Z", I wanted to read new manga. I picked One Piece due to its cool-looking logo and its characters. Before purchasing this Omnibus, I read part of the first volume "Romance Dawn" to get a sense of if I liked it or not. One Piece revolves around a teenage boy named Monkey D. Luffy who, at the age of 7, accidentally ate the Devil Fruit and gained the ability to stretch like rubber. However, this comes with a price when he finds out he can never swim again, a serious flaw due to Luffy wanting to become the King of the Pirates. Luffy ends up in a fight with mountain bandits who insult his role model, the pirate captain "Red-Haired" Shanks. Luffy is taken out to sea, where Shanks rescues him. Nevertheless, Shanks loses his arm and gives Luffy a straw hat to remember him by. Ten years later, "Straw Hat" Luffy sets out to find the One Piece, a legendary treasure. (Warning: Contains little spoilers) Luffy gets sucked into a whirlpool and meets Lady Alvida's cabin boy, Koby, when he snuck onboard in a wine barrel. Luffy fights Lady Alvida, who tries to kill the rubber Luffy, and demands that Koby be given a shot to get into the navy. Luffy then sets out to find Roronoa Zolo, the famous pirate hunter who was jailed for a false murder. In order to save him, Luffy kills the Captain and his son and retrieves Zolo's three swords. After getting rewarded, they are thrown off the island due to being pirates. Luffy punches Koby because he wants to hunt down him, and is forced to leave. Luffy sets out to the Grand Line, but his boat is hijacked by pirates of Buggy the Clown, who are mad after a woman named Nami stole her treasures. Luffy meets Nami on the island, and he wants her to navigate his ship. However, Nami gets angry when Luffy reveals himself to be a pirate. Nami refuses to talk to Luffy, who is jailed for betraying Buggy. Nami gets caught in a fork when she decides that she could risk her life for Luffy. Luffy escapes the jail before it is bombed, so Buggy kills a crew member. (spoilers end) My reviews for One Piece: Artwork: 8/10- the drawings are really cool, and unique. Characters look unique, and are very detailed. Action: 7/10- One Piece has awesome action scenes, punches look realistic. Characters' techniques are unique. Dialogue: 7.5/10- The dialogue is not the best, but there is lots of humor in the story, lots revolving Nami. Humor: 8.5/10- Unlike other manga, One Piece can make you laugh. Characters: 10/10- Each character is unique, and their designs are just so incredible. Final Rating: 41/50 or 8.2/10

I started watching One Piece 4 years ago when a friend recommended and now I am completely up to date on all 761 episodes but I never read or considered reading the manga until I happened to come a cross the first volume and realized how much I have missed and how beautiful the manga really is. As a one piece anime (and now manga) fan I highly recommend it. I don't usually buy books unless I need them for school but I had no regrets buying this one, you can always come back to read it again and still enjoy it.

Bought this manga on a whim. I always like One Piece but never considered it seriously as something to be stocking my shelves at home with. After reading this manga though I am hooked! The art is cool, the story is funny, and I like the Oda's tidbits between chapters. Grab this manga if you want a future full of good reading with plenty of mangas in your future to entertain you.

i recently purchased these books as a gift for my girlfriend for christmas, not only did it come late the other three books,4-5-6, 7-8-9,10-11-12, they told me it was shipping, and then the second the first book came to my door the other 3 orders just "vanished into thin air" nobody knew what the f*** i was talking about, and the book that they did send was wrinked and torn and used when it was supposedly from factory meaning brand new. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN THEY DONT CARE AND RIP YOU OFF. buy these books somewhere else because they will severly dissappoint. -LATE -USED ITEMS -CANCELED OTHER ORDERS

I bought this book for my little brother because he loved naruto and my friend reccomended this series. My little brother (who claims that he hates reading) read the entire the book in one day and the second 3 in 1 volume soon afterwards. He loved the story, humor, and artwork of the book, but he said the translation from Japanese to English was a little "weird". The low price is just icing on the cake. All in all, my little brother and I would reccomend this book to all manga and comic book lovers.

Some may consider this review to contain spoilers. Vol. 1: Romance Dawn - I've had this recommended to me a few times and since it has been going since like almost forever; they're up to vol. 68 at the time of this writing, I thought I'd better get in the know and find out what the big deal is. This first volume didn't impress me too much. It was funny, but not laugh out loud. It is certainly weird, very different from any other manga I've read to date. I'm not sure if I'm going to be into something so heavily relying upon humour. On the other hand, I thought Captain "Axe-Hand" Morgan was a cool bad guy and could look forward to more like that. While none of the characters impressed me in this volume, and I do have to remember we are looking at a volume 1 that has a long way to go in development, I can see some potential in them and at the moment am interested in Roronoa Zolo. He could be a cool character. Luffy at the moment just seems gullible and naive. Those are my thoughts after the first volume. (3/5) Vol. 2: Buggy the Clown - I don't have much to say. I'm not impressed at this point. i don't like clowns; the bad guy is a clown an he's not even a scary clown. Just a doofus. A female thief has been added to Luffy's pirate crew as the navigator and as far as characters go, only Zolo is entertaining me at this point. Next Volume will have to be a knockout to give me much interest in continuing with the series. (2/5) Vol. 3: Don't Get Fooled Again - The story picked up for me in this volume. But first I suffered through the ending of the Buggy the Clown episode started in the last volume. Next up the three new pirates set off once again and ended up for a brief lark on a deserted island that was being guarded by an ex-pirate who has been stuck in a treasure chest for 20 years. I actually found this brief plot to be hilarious and liked Gaimon. The rest of the book starts the set up of a new plot with their new friend, possible new crew member-to-be, Ussop, and the evil doings going on in his town as a pirate is in hiding there plotting an evil murder. This new bad guy pirate seems like the average villain and while not earth shattering my interest is piqued enough that I'm going to continue with the series a bit more to see if it gets any better. (3/5) My son read this volume and said it was just ok, but he asked me to make the decision on whether we should continue reading it or not. So, I've said we'll try the next volumes from the library and see if either of us gets hooked enough for it to be worth our buying.

I love One Piece so I bought this for my 10 year old nephew. He really enjoyed it. Good place to start getting your kid reading more.

If I where you and you love one piece i'd get it and the book is 600 pages so I say it's whouth it and if you are not happy then send it back and get a refund

I didn't use to be a manga fan but One Piece won me over in no time! it's funny, well-drawn, entertaining, and this 3 in 1 edition really saves you money... read it! love it! =)

I found many errors with in this manga. The biggest being them messing up one of the most popular characters in this book... In the TV show and Japanese manga there isa chacter named Zoro. He is a very important chacter but they seem to over look in this entire manga that they messed up his name and have it as Zolo instead of Zoro...

These are a super way to start a series by jumping in with both feet affordably. With three books per volume, you get a decent amount for your berries (One Piece fans will get it). Great if your kid wants to immerse themself or rapidly catch up to where they may be in the television show. Fun series with tons of silliness and heart.

Great anime for younger readers. My 11 year old loved One Piece and particularly the artwork! Just be warned, nearly every anime book series my son has read has turned into a mini collection! It’s becoming an expensive hobby! I always look for the 3-in-1 sets for better value for money now.

I really do wish I had started reading these books sooner! I love one piece it's my 2nd fav to all the dragonball story's/animations! What I really do about the books the most is it cuts out the filler episodes that the animation would normally put in. One we quick description with fantastic artwork gives u a look at what else is happening in the world of one piece and then straight back Into the story line! Defo must read for any one new to manga or just hasn't given one piece a 2nd thought And the 3 in 1 are a great way to start collecting them! Defo 5 stars for my self!

Essa versão com os três primeiros mangás da série é uma boa forma de contornar a impossibilidade da compra do One Piece volume um, uma vez que o mesmo encontra-se esgotado faz tempo. Então recomendo muito a compra dessa versão!

Bom principalmente pra quem quer ter o primeiro volume, visto que é bem difícil de se achar por estar esgotado faz tempo. Vem no formato tradicional de mangás, porém vem com onomatopéias em inglês que é a minha predileção, mas a grande maioria prefere em japonês. O contra é o preço que acaba ficando mais caro do que as versões individuais em português (tirando o fato que algumas se encontram esgotadas).

One piece ha sido criticado por el diseño de sus personajes, pero no dejes que eso te engañe, One piece es sin duda una de las mejores historias que he leído y visto hasta el día de hoy. Con mas de 800 capítulos en su haber y lo que le sigue esta es una buena oportunidad para conocer el principio de una gran historia. No importa si no eres fan de los mangas o de los piratas, la carisma de sus personajes y lo genial que son sus arcos cautivara incluso al mas escéptico de los fans. Dale una oportunidad con este omnibus y veras que en poco tiempo estarás ordenando los capítulos siguientes.

Sobre a qualidade: O mangá veio em Excelente Estado. Com um total de 600 Páginas. Ele é um pouco menor que outros mangás (ex: Naruto,My hero academia,Demon Slayer,etc..) porém dá pra deixar na coleção sem nenhum problema. Sobre a História: recomendo muito Pra todos os fãs de shounen. A história é muito boa, empolgante e Divertida Nota 10!

Gostei muito, o mangá em si é muito bom, a entrega foi muito rápida e não demorou mais de uma semana para chegar, apesar de ser inglês, vale muito a pena para colecionar, por ser mais em conta e para quem consegue entender inglês é uma das melhores opções, pois os mangás BRs estão muito caros, e só esse volume 3 em 1 inteiro já é mais barato do que o volume 1 nacional, além de ser difícil de ser achado...

É exatamente como na foto e vale a pena. Pra quem sabe ler em inglês é uma ótima solução pra completar a coleção de One Piece, já que conseguir o volume 1 no Brasil é quase impossível.

One Piece 1-2-3 is a great introduction to a fantastic story. The artwork is unique and comical which fits well with the whimsy of the story. It is definitely a lot more light-hearted than darker manga like Bleach or Fullmetal Alchemist. Some readers have compared it to Fairy Tail - which I think is an apt comparison. While Fairy Tail is about wizards, One Piece is about pirates. My kids love Fairy Tail but my wife complains about all the sexy illustrations of the women characters - and of course, there's also a fair bit of innuendo. One Piece, in contrast, has very little by way of sexy drawings or innuendo - and can appeal to a younger audience. There's some blood and violence, but not quite to the same degree as Naruto, or other more violent manga. Kids aside - I really like the collection myself, and am looking forward to ordering the other collections. There's something contagious about Luffy's undying optimism, and he makes an intriguing, if unlikely, pirate captain. It's full of laughs and memorable characters - and of course, fights in which characters announce the name of their next move before they attack. It is, after all, manga.

One piece is one of the greatest mangas of all time. The omnibus is good for a low budget otaku. It covers three volumes without missing anything behind. The pages are little bit thinner but its alright.

This is so well printed ! Yes, you can see through the pages. But, does it matter ? for this cheap price, you're getting 3 volumes ! I loved every second of reading this edition. Heck, read 120 pages under 30 mins XD TL;DR go for it !

I ordered both this book and the "One Piece: East Blue 4-5-6" book, and was told that it would take about a week to ship, but then the next day, I came home from work pleasantly surprised that the box was on my coffee table! I opened it and found two perfect condition books. As for the contents of the manga itself, I have been a huge fan of the anime for a long time, so I have no complains, it was fantastic. I would recommend this manga to anyone interested in a shounen manga about an amazing adventure.
