This book is filled with over 160 real-life stories from grieving mothers through our initial discovery of our child's drug use to the devastating end of their journey. We have shared what we have learned, the emotional ups-and-downs, the “enabling," "tough love,” “unconditional love,” the effect within ourselves and our family, and what we wished we would have known or even done differently. Nobody wants to talk about it when it’s happening to them or how families are completely lost when fighting this disease.
We believe that these real-life stories will further awareness and help provide comfort and navigation to those who are struggling. You are not alone. By sharing our stories, others will see many of the same struggles and situations mothers have lived as well as the resources we have found along the way. This book is our opportunity to share the painful experiences mamas have endured to help and guide those on the same journey.
Although this book sadly cannot bring our children back from the tragic loss resulting from the drug pandemic, perhaps these stories from real mothers who have survived this loss can help you understand and guide you through the most challenging situation that anyone could possibly have even considered—the loss of their child.
This book will not provide you with “professional” guidance; however, you will be able to see a small view into this painful journey that us grieving mothers of this pandemic now carry as a life sentence.
Lastly, this book is devoted to all the precious children we have lost and to all mothers who are struggling to survive this devastating loss; to the families still fighting for the life of their children. May these stories give you hope and insight, and may God give you strength to never give up.
100% of the Amazon/KDP proceeds from both this Ebook and paperback for volume 1 are being donated to the #NotInVain nonprofit to continue supporting the grieving mothers of this pandemic

A Must Read In Helping Save A Life In This Drug Epidemic
I received my book yesterday.. I have not been able to put it down... When I opened the package I instantly felt my heart skip a beat.. I couldn't believe how heavy it was.. As I opened it and skimmed through the pages my heart felt so heavy with knowing first hand all this pain from losing my child to this same epidemic.. As I continued reading through, I was instantly captivated by all these stories of childhood memories.. All the hopes and dreams that our children once had.. But yet suddenly how the light turned off and we all faced this awful nightmare... I found that I am not alone in this grief. That I am not losing my mind.. I also realized by reading this that all the signs were there this last year.. But I had no idea.. How did I miss them? I am far from being finished reading the book.. I am sure that it will be finished by tonight.. Since I can't seem to put it down.. And the tears keep flowing as I read each page.. Each story.. I know that even when I am at the end of the book, I will just start from the beginning again.. I will forever say each name in this book.. This book has opened my eyes to reassure me that I will not be silent.. I need to share my daughter's story now more than ever... All of the lives that have been taken from this Epidemic need to not be in vain.. And I will help in doing my part that no other Mother will feel this pain.. Thank you for this book.. Thank you for talking about ALL of it.. Thank you for sharing the signs to look for.. Thank you for sharing the deepest emotions.. But most of all Thank You for trying to save someone's life by sharing it all.... Mariah Rachel's Mom.. Forever 27..💜🌻

This book was written by real mom's like myself in hopes of saving one motherThe heartache that each one of us have experienced. This book of 160 stories is one small slice of the pie of death that are occurring each and every day. The state of Delaware per capita has the second highest overdose rate in the country. If we don't break the stigma now we never will. Buy the book, read the book, share the book. Thank you
Everyone should read this book
I know the words in this book depicts the writings of Elizabeth Costello. She has been detrimental in the ideas, words and choices. She too greaves the death of her son as he contemplated his thoughts of going back to prison after trying to free himself from this disease. Thank you Elizabeth and Bobbie!
This book is an eye opener for anyone going through the disease of addiction, a must read
This book is a true labor of love for our children who have been lost to the disease of addiction. It is beautifully written with real life stories from real mothers who have gone through every stage of this horrible disease. There are resources, and information that I wish I had while navigating through this nightmare. The book honors those who couldn’t find their way back. By telling their stories it can hopefully help put an end to the stigma attached to every aspect of addiction. Anyone who has been touched by this drug pandemic could benefit from reading this book, as so many are dying every day. The information in this book is invaluable.
Real, raw & straight from the hearts of the mothers who lost the ones who meant everything to them.
These are the stories of our children, whose lives mattered. Whose lives still matter and will always matter. If telling their stories can save just one life, open the eyes of one family to the understanding that addiction is a DISEASE or that it can happen to anyone's child; if our children's stories can bring awareness to this horrible, growing epidemic or help another mother, father, or sibling than their deaths will NOT BE IN VAIN., For the ones who have lost, for the ones who have not yet gone through this heartbreaking loss, for those who are now facing this horrific loss - our stories are for every single one of our beautiful children. We do this for them. We do this put an end to this epidemic.
Real life stories of addiction and loss
This book is meant to touch and save the lives of addicts, as well as give insight to the families who have a loved one struggling with addiction. I hope by sharing our pain and journey through addiction and loss to erase some of the stigma attached to addiction.
Together we can save lives!
Myself as well as 164 other grieving Mothers share our real life stories about the loss, life & love for our children in this book. A group of Mothers who didn’t choose to come together, choose to come together with anyone battling substance use disorder, past or present in hopes we can help save lives by bringing light to the topic so commonly clothed in shame. None of us wish this devastating journey of loss on anyone however for those Mothers who have lost a child no matter the age, to an accidental overdose, we are here with you and for you to let you know you are not alone. For those who know of someone battling addiction, we hope this book encourages you & gives you the strength, will & determination to educate yourself, tap into resources for help. Join us in our mission to help save lives!
If this book helps turn ONE life around...it has done it's job

These stories need to be read by all teens, all young adults - especially those who are currently on the journey of addiction. Hopefully the pain penned in these stories will jolt someone into turning their life around.
The disease of addiction will change your family forever.
This nightmare can happen in your house. Never think it can’t. These stories tell of the very real struggles so many are dealing with and the devastation left behind. We hope our stories make you realize addiction doesn’t discriminate and we must put an end to the stigma. Ryan’s mom, Sharon W.

Give this a read!
Please give this book a read!!! This is so personal to my because my boyfriend at the time, Wesley, his story is in here along with a bunch of others who lost their lives to this horrific disease. It is a collection of stories of people who are shown as real people, someone’s brother, father, sister or friend. Addicts are not just junkies who live under a bridge. They are living, breathing human beings with thoughts and feelings and lives to live like the rest of us. My Wes will be forever 29 and I still miss him every day.
It will save lives!
This book should be in every rehab, sober living environment and facility where it will make an incredible impact on those that need it most. It is raw and heartbreaking but needs to be circulated as much as possible. Buy it for someone you are worried about that has an addiction problem. You could save their life. My son Morgan's story is in this book. I pray everyday this book will save many, many lives. Please don’t let someone else end up like my son and countless others. 160 Mamas wrote their child stories with broken hearts but found the strength to contribute to this amazing book. Please purchase one for you and one for a soul that is searching for help.
Powerful stories
Very good book for those who've lost loved ones to addiction.
This book is a must read.
This is something everyone needs to read. We can no longer look the other way and say "not my child" and mothers need to know that they aren't alone in their pain. Not In Vain book series is a must read!
Drugs WILL give you a life of hell. They take you and DO NOT let you go
This book about losing your child to addiction is a must read for any family as you never know when it might happen in your family. True stories of what people go through when they are in addiction. Active or in recovery. Nobody thinks it will happen to them. They have no idea what their "friends" will or will not do for them if they overdose in their presence. A lot of the time, the friends leave. They wind up dying. Alone. Only to be found by a loved one many hours later. Unfortunately, this is reality.
You are Not Alone..
This book is extraordinary!!!!! My son's story is in this book as well. The heart felt stories, the introduction all the way to the conclusion touched my soul. Everything this book contains is very real and true. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is still living with the struggles of your child living the addict life or going through the loss of your child. There is a story in this book you will be able to relate to and to have the comfort that you are not alone. We are all here for you.
The contents of this book could have saved my Son's life!
Do not suffer in silence! This book is critical, informative, and must be brought into the attention of all parents, siblings and those who are drug addicted. My child died at the hands of criminals who are now poisoning drugs with fentanyl. He was recovering when Covid-19 attacked our nation, and he was locked down. He made one single choice to self medicate, and he died immediately due to an excessive amount of fentanyl. This book contains vital information that could have saved my Son's life! Please don't turn your back on your loved one, and their need for help! What they're dealing with is dangerous and way beyond their ability to help themselves.
This is a must read!!💜

Not in vain
I bought this book to support the cause behind it, for all those moms that wrote about their journey with their child and their addiction I have not started it yet, it’s going to be a hard read but worth the tears I’ll shed! See, I am one if those moms. My son fought and lost his battle with addiction and like so many of the moms and dads, in this book our story- their story needs to be heard. If they be child survives this epidemic of addiction and poisoning by hearing our pain, it’s wirth our tears!

I have been blessed to be a part of this project, and I can’t thank Bobbie Zeimer enough for allowing me to share my story.
