Although I was excited about getting this book, Not Forsaken, I wasn't as excited about reading the story - but, from the every first page I began to have a better understanding of God's unrelenting, everlasting love for me. I have to admit it hasn't been easy to read about the truth of God's love for us, because understanding and accepting the truth means I have to go back and be honest about my misconceptions about Him - and that part of the journey is a bit painful. This quote from the book - "God is not the reflection of your earthly dad. He is the perfection of your earthly dad." has resonated so much with me. I had a wonderful father, but we didn't always have the best relationship. Over time, I began to look at God the same way I looked at my dad - and truthfully, at times, I couldn't relate to God any better than I could my own father. This book, written by Louie Giglio, has helped me to not only understand my relationship with my dad and my Heavenly Father, but it has also helped me understand my own role as a father to my children. My father passed away in 2012, and I am thankful we were able to restore our relationship before he left this earth. In the years since then, my relationship with God has undergone tremendous healing, and these words of wisdom from Louie Giglio have helped me to better understand just how much God loves us all! From the perspective of childhood to adulthood, occasionally, we all feel alone, maybe even forsaken. With solid life experience and Scripture, Giglio reminds us that we are never alone. We are never forsaken. God is with you, but more than that he is with you as a protective and loving father. He is a father who will never let you down. He is a father who always loves you, no matter what kind of mess you get yourself into. He and he alone can redeem you. Was impressed by this book as I thought it would be just another regular bible study book for small groups. It really delves into how your relationship with your dad shapes your relationship with God the father and how to undo it. Your earth dad is by no means perfect, so instead of relating to God the father through your earth dad, instead relate to God the father through who He is in the Bible. Very good book, I would wholeheartedly recommend it for a small group bible study for sure.

I heard of this book on the radio station that I listen to (The Joy FM) and boy, did it deliver. Anyone who has had issues with their earthly parents needing to find that connection to our Heavenly father who loves us beyond our understanding. I lived with a very distant mother. I had a great relationship with my earthly dad though so I wondered if this really would be the book for me, but it really helped me work through some forgiveness that I had to give to my mother, even though she has passed, and helped me move forward in my relation ship with Jesus Christ. I highly recommend this book.

I could always relate to Jesus and was saved at a young age. However, I had a fear of God the Father for many years. Thankfully, that is no longer the case. I highly recommend this book for those struggling with unforgiveness and also books by Dennis and Jen Clark.

The audio book of Louie Giglio's Not Forsaken is a great listen! Being read by the author really lets you feel the heart behind so much of it. I love how vulnerable and transparent Louie is in sharing the personal stories of his relationship with his own father. This book is a must read/listen. So much truth here. We cannot change our physical family tree. It's real and you have to deal with it in order to heal. BUT...we can have a new family tree through the cross as a direct descendant of Jesus. No matter what type of earthly father you had, find comfort and hope in knowing that you are dearly loved by the Heavenly Father and He will NEVER forsake you.

This book was an absolute God-send - timely and just what I needed. I highly recommend it!

I read this book after my mom died. She had extreme mental health issues and was abusive to me growing up. When she died, she and I hadn’t spoken in a year. Grieving her death was confusing. I was mad at God because I had prayed my entire life for Him to heal her, but he never did. I was also angry at God for making her my mom instead of giving me a normal healthy mom like so many other kids had. I read this book 4 months after she died.....it taught me that God is the parent I desperately needed and wanted. I’m not angry anymore. Thank you Louie!

The message of this book is the heart of God. He wants all creation to know that no matter what type of father you have or had, God is the Perfect Father to you. He is Abba Father. I love the passage in Ps. 27:10 that declares, "Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me." He is there with open arms to welcome me into His grace and unconditional love. We have purchased over 100 books and will be giving them to the young men in our church in the next couple of weeks. Thank you Louie for pointing this world to the Perfect Father.

Love the vision in this book. Truly has changed the way I see people all together. The thought of seeing God as Jesus portrays Him should have just been second nature while readying the Bible, but it wasn’t for me. So now that I have ready this book and gone through the Bible study I have a different better vision when I read the Bible. The way God is shown through scripture gives such a more intimate picture then I have ever realized. Truly blessed!

I was able to get a signed manuscript by preordering the book which was awesome. I was able to read the book before most. This was an eye opening book. No matter if your father was the best or the worst this book brings new insight. I have told people it is a must have book and it is a gray companion book to kingdom man. Louie Giglio has become one of my go to writers. His ability to put things into words and explain them is beyond amazing and insightful.

I would recommend anyone who does know the role of the Heavenly Father in the trinity to read this book. There are many talking points! I struggled to identity with the father role in the trinity and God used this book to further my knowledge and understanding.

While I’ve been a Christian since childhood and have walked with Jesus for many years I have always wrestled with the idea of God being my perfect Father. I have an incredible earthly dad. However, the personal characteristics of a dad never translated to God. That is until reading this book. As always Louie knocks it out of the park. The message contained within Not Forsaken is one that has already had life-changing implications at Passion 2019 and Passion City Church. This message is one that many, many, more people desperately need to hear! This is a good book to give skeptics of the Gospel, too. Although not technically considered an apologetics book, Not Forsaken deals with the undergirding resentment both Christians and non-believers can have with associating God with their earthly father.

This book speaks to the heart in the most kind and loving manner. Louie Giglio paints the portrait of who the ultimate Father is and just what that love looks like, especially if you have never seen it for yourself. Read it and I believe you will want to know Him more.

This book from Pastor Louie is so timely and needed. Even for those (like me) who had a good dad, we need the extended grace from the perfect heavenly Father. He unpacks how Jesus time and again points us to God who is Father to those who will come to Him. This book will help you to understand what God wants to do for you as the father Jesus told us about.

Love how this book encourages us to take stock of our relationship with God and review our beliefs about God as a loving father regardless of our relationship with our earthly father. I recommend this book for people looking to renew or recommit to Christ, or those who are seeking a better understanding of who God really is according to scripture.

It’s a really easy read, very pastoral. It feels like a personal letter to you. Louie uses a lot of scripture and a lot of stories. And over and over reminds you of the truth of the gospel and that God really wants to be your dad. A fantastic book that will alter your perspective on “Dad”.

I love Pastor Giglio's style of writing...great storytelling with just enough humor to illustrate his points. Whether you had an amazing earlthy dad, a terrible one or somewhere in between, this book will help you understand God's perfect love for us. We can be whole and healed in Jesus name!

Wow...such a powerful and profound message! Chapter 6, Reverse the Curse, alone is more than worth the price of the book. When we grasp the fatherhood of God, we begin to grasp just how much he loves us. That's who we are, a loved son or daughter of the living God...and that changes everything.

I just feel like this would have been better served as a 2 sermon series rather than a full book. It felt like he was just beating a dead horse after a while.

Lost interest after a while

My dad was not a perfect father. He was a hardworking man who worked most of his life at a rendering plant that took the byproducts from chicken processing plants (the intestines, feathers, and such) and cooked them in order to make chicken feed. Yes, that is right. Chickens eat chicken every day. Dad was a deacon and the son of a Baptist preacher. He was humble, kind, and a man of integrity. With all of that he still wasn’t perfect. Louie Giglio, the national bestselling author of Goliath Must Fall: Winning the Battle Against Your Giants and The Comeback: It’s Not Too Late and You’re Never Too Far, and co-founder of Passion City Church and the Passion Conference, has come out with another work entitled Not Forsaken: Finding Freedom as Sons and Daughters of a Perfect Father. This book invites us to take a look at the character of God from a Biblical perspective in order to get a view of God as Father that may not match our view of father that we may have gotten growing up. The author believes that our view of God is the most important thing about us. To have a flawed view of God leads us to have a flawed view of life. Unfortunately, that view gets marred by past experiences. Giglio goes through great lengths to distinguish the one true God from that of our earthly father. In my opinion he almost spills too much ink doing this. As a matter of fact, I felt uncomfortable at times reading this book because I honestly believe that I have a good dad. No, he wasn’t perfect but he was good. Sometimes I got the feeling that this book was written only for those who had poor fathers. In this book he spoke of forgiving our father’s for their imperfections but this maybe the best part of this book. In his chapter he said, “To forgive your dad is not to release him from the consequences of his actions. Rather it’s to release him to God who said, ‘Vengeance is mine…says the Lord’…You don’t release your dad FROM SOMETHING as much as you release him TO SOMEONE. You offload the role of being judge and jury to God, who is just and fair, knowing full well that your heavenly Father will exact justice at the right time and in the right way.” For me personally that was the most helpful statement in the book. Once again if you had a crappy dad who didn’t give you the blessing and love that you should have received, this book will be a great read for you. Otherwise you may feel as I uncomfortable reading the book. I’ve read better from Giglio and yes, I will continue reading his future works. I’m sure this book will be a blessing to many. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

Louie Giglio, pastor of Passion City Church, a megachurch in Atlanta, writes Not Forsaken to help people see God as a good Heavenly Father, especially those who have had a bad earthly father. The subtitle says it well: "Finding Freedom as Sons & Daughters of a Perfect Father." Giglio begins by stating that every person has an innate need for a good father who is proud of him or her, yet the author readily recognizes that many people have had an abusive or absent earthly father, and this makes it difficult for them to affirm God as good. Giglio confronts this dilemma step-by-step, making frequent use of scripture. First, he explains that God is good, even if Dad was bad: "God is not the reflection of your earthly dad. He is the perfection of your earthly dad" (p.76). Then, Giglio encourages the reader to "reverse the curse" through forgiveness of a bad father, saying, "Bitterness continues to pave a path to your past, while forgiveness paves a way to your future" (p. 114). Next, Giglio guides the reader to an understanding of the good fatherly qualities of God. He acknowledges some people will ask, If God is so good, why doesn't He stop evil? In a paragraph worth repeating, he responds to this question: "I think the answer is because the moment He steps in and removes all the collateral damage of this broken world from ever happening again, that will mark the instant life on earth is over. And in that moment the lost will be lost forever and many whom God wanted to become sons and daughters will be separated from His arms. So, He waits and extends grace another day. And for twenty-four more hours, we are caught in the crossfire of a sin-shattered world" (p. 178). Finally, he challenges readers that just as we tend to pick up the qualities of our parents, so we should "grow up like Dad," our heavenly Father. Although the book is only 235 pages, divided into 10 chapters, Giglio tends to repeat statements he has already stated, which is normal for a public speaker (which he is), but seems redundant when reading a book. Perhaps with more editing, he could have communicated just as well with fewer than 200 pages. Nevertheless, Giglio writes in a personal, encouraging style, based on solid Biblical interpretation, with many helpful illustrations. This book can be quite helpful to readers who struggle with the idea that God is a good Father. If so, this book by Louie Giglio (founder of Passion Conferences for young adults) is for you. In fact, it's for all of us because no human father is perfect, and we all desire a father's blessing. According to Louie, the most important thing in our lives is the way we think about God. Maybe to you God is a scorekeeper, balancing our good acts with our bad ones. Maybe He's angry, or distant. Perhaps you think God should be like a concierge, catering to your wants and demands, or maybe He's a buddy. Maybe God is a lot like you, because really, you want to be your own God! The most frequent image for God used by Jesus, however, is a father. He refers to God as father 189 times in the New Testament, and this term is used to describe God more frequently than any other term or adjective. "… the fatherhood of God is the main characteristic that holds all of His attributes together." Not Forsaken sets out to help us understand and appreciate God as our heavenly Father. Louie acknowledges that this may be difficult to those who have a strained or nonexistent relationship with their own father. However, he reminds us that God is not a reflection of our father, but the perfection of fatherhood. With our spiritual rebirth, we have a new and perfect father, and we have inherited His DNA. Yes, we will still look and at times act like our human Father, but we have the ability to mature and resemble our brother, Jesus. We are God's beloved children and this is His message to us: "I want to continually shape your life in such a way that you look like Me, sound like Me, talk like Me, act like Me, and think like Me, more and more." Not Forsaken is an easy read, and I found the section on growing in spiritual maturity challenging. Although it's meant for youth, sometimes we adults become complacent with where we're at in our Christian walk. Maturity means growth, and we all need to be about growing up to be more like our true Father.

Over the years, at any number of Men’s Ministry events, I’ve heard about how difficult it is to use the image of God as a loving father when talking to men. I know that I’m not an exception just because I grew up in a not overly bizarre two-parent home, but I know a lot of men who didn’t have that luxury. Or worse they grew up in a two-parent home where the dad was abusive: verbally, physically, emotionally, or even sexually. Other friends grew up without a male role model/father figure, and others had a mom with bad luck with relationships. The male figures in their lives seemed to come and go as if through a revolving door. It’s hard to see someone as a loving Father when they disappear as quickly as they show up, or when they are around, they’re drunk or on drugs, and speak with their fists more than with their tongue. So I get it…it’s hard to ask someone to look at God as a loving father, when the examples of father that they know are so negative. Dads in many places are the guys who come around for a while and then abandon those who love them, trust them, and want their attention. Some dads stay around. Others forsake the family. That’s what many men think of when they hear the word father. But God the Father is different. He doesn’t forsake us. And that’s the message that so many people need to hear. Men, but also women. Louie Giglio’s book Not Forsaken: Finding Freedom as Sons and Daughters of a Perfect Father (B&H Publishing Group: Passion Publishing, 2019) goes a long way towards helping people understand the difference between even the best of the best earthly fathers, and God the Father. Little boys want to grow up to be like daddy, and Giglio shows us how we would all be better off trying to be more like God than like any man (other than Jesus) who has ever walked the earth. Are you ready to revisit or maybe even discover a powerful relationship? Louie Giglio can take you there in his book, Not Forsaken, where he walks us through the very nature and heart of the Father. Giglio’s book, Not Forsaken is not only a great read but a probe into the heart of the reader. You have to genuinely analyze your view of God from within. Are the things I say about my Heavenly Father truly what I believe, or are they cliché sayings I have picked up along the way? This book is for the early and seasoned believer. I truly believe there are weaknesses and frailties in the Church today because these truths are not taken to heart. We have simply forgotten Whose we are. We have forgotten that we are His Kings and Priests. Giglio takes the reader’s heart with Him in His journey and parallels our thoughts and experiences with the Scriptures that paint the complete picture of the Father. Mixed with stories that bring tears, laughter and cheers of, “Yeah, that’s right!”, Giglio simply opens the Scriptures of God the Father – who is relevant to all. No matter our background, relationship, or lack of relationship, with our earthly fathers, this book will renovate the heart of every reader. Not Forsaken will begin at different starting points for the individual but everyone will end at the cross. My favorite part of Not Forsaken is that we see more of God’s heart in each page then Giglio’s (although his heart for the Lord is beautiful.) We are all God’s favorite and created to be His friend. Mountains seem like ant hills when we know what God has to say about us: “You are not forsaken. You will never be left behind. You are chosen. You are dearly loved. You are not an orphan. You are not alone. You are a child of God. He knows your name. You are His. You are not unwanted. You are not powerless. You are who He says you are. You are not defeated. You are made new. You have what He says you have. You can be and do what He says you can be and do. You are not a victim. You are in Christ’s victorious procession. You walk side by side with the King. You are a loved daughter of the King. You are a loved son of the Most High. You are a trophy of His grace. You are His light shining like a city on a hill, bringing Him glory as you grow up to be like Him.” (Giglio)

@louiegiglio's newest book Not Forsaken is a heartfelt book focusing on the reality of imperfect fathers and the way they have shaped our need for approval. Many of us have personal struggles and lifelong obstacles to deal with because of the effect of our imperfect fathers. Moreover, often our image of our earthly fathers shapes our concepts of our heavenly father. In typical Giglio style, Louie tells story after story attempting to connect the reader to the realities of God as our perfect, loving, and faithful Father. Louie points to Jesus as the tangible image of our heavenly Father, who loved and sacrificed to call us sons and daughters. "No matter what has happened on this side of eternity between you and your dad, you are not forsaken by God. No one who knows Him as Father will be forsaken." The part that fell flat for me was the neglect of those who never had a Father in their life. Much of the opening chapters focus on those who had decent dads, those who had dads who fell short, and those who desired approval from their dad but were forsaken. Much of the book will help even those who never knew the presence of a Father, but it felt like a miss to not even mention it. Furthermore, this book isn't a how-to book; it's a reflective work based on a series of motivational sermons. If you're unaware of the effects your Father had on your life, read this book. Maybe you had a wonderful father. Perhaps your dad was cold and distant and not really engaged with you. Or maybe you didn't know your father at all. Irregardless of the type of father you had, Louie Giglio shares in his new book, Not Forsaken, that God is not a reflection of your earthly dad. Not Forsaken is the first audio book that I have listened to on my device. I truly enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator did a good job of reading and keeping my interest in the content. I felt myself want to keep going in the book and to know more about how to re-frame my view of God and to take this information to better live out the Christian life. Not Forsaken was an interesting book to me. Without going in to details, I had a dad that has left me with an empty hole in my heart. I like how Giglio invites us to see God differently though this book. I especially liked how it started out with the Watch Me chapter. . .Boy did it bring back memories of being younger and wanting my father's approval. Then Giglio invited the reader to see how there is a big difference between God and my father. Instead of feeling like God is a Giant image of my less-than-perfect dad. He invites me to see that God is our perfect father. I plan to listen to the book again and help this information really sink in to my head as I think it is so important to living a better life and living with God reframed helps me see Him with new eyes. I see there is a Bible study to go along with Not Forsaken coming out this summer that would also be helpful. I received an audiobook from the publisher at no charge. Often, this feels like a shadow hanging over our lives. In his new book Not Forsaken: Finding Freedom as Sons & Daughters of a Perfect Father, Giglio offers hope to those whose fathers did not bless us as we were growing up. Not Forsaken points the way to our Heavenly Father who loves us unconditionally and will never leave or forsake us. There are so many things that I liked about Not Forsaken. First and foremost, this book helps us to assess and understand the nature of our relationship with our earthly fathers – the good, the bad, and the ugly. Second, this book shows how that relationship impacts us in all aspects of our lives, including our current relationships and our relationship with our Heavenly Father. For a lot of us, this experience is painful and exposes us to wounds that need healing. Giglio assures us that this is okay. He encourages us to cry, express our anger, take time to journal, and to experience the full range of emotions we need to feel as we work our way through this book. The end result? Knowing and experiencing God as Father can unlock prison doors, heal wounds, and propel us into greater purpose in our lives. Listening to Louie Giglio read Not Forsaken on audiobook was an incredible experience. It gave me the opportunity to have Louis Giglio speak biblical truth directly into my life. If you are in need of Fatherly love, Fatherly blessing, and Heavenly Father healing, I encourage you to read and/or listen to this book!

Not Forsaken opened my eyes to things I was believing about God because I had seen them in my own father. Things that disappointed. Things that hurt. In the pages of Not Forsaken, Giglio issues an invitation to lay down the misconceptions you’ve developed about God. To reframe all that you believe about who He is and know God as a perfect Father. Giglio is sensitive to the fact that everyone’s relationship with their dad is unique. Because of this, Not Forsaken takes a slow approach to change your mindset. It’s not a book to rush through. There’s enough to sit with and make the narrative your own. Giglio creates space for you to explore your understanding of God as father and then reframe it to see God as the perfect father. Not Forsaken is for those who had a great relationship with their dads and are able to see God as perfect. It is also for those who have had rocky relationships or even no relationship with their fathers. In Not Forsaken, Giglio takes you on a journey to restore and renew your view of God. “Open your eyes and see how astonishingly beautiful He is.” I enjoyed listening to the audio version of Not Forsaken by Louie Giglio. He also is the narrator and I do believe it added a depth of authenticity to his storytelling to hear him recall stories about his own dad. His persona is engaging and witty and had me chuckling a few times. Giglio’s statements relating to how we think about God are right on target because so often we base our conclusions on who God is by what we think about our own fathers, who aren’t in any way, shape or form perfect. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to know more about God, the deep and abiding love of a true Father, and for healing that we all need. Not Forsaken points us to the source of all goodness and perfect love, our heavenly Father! Philippians 1:6 ~ And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. "Not Forsaken" by Louie Giglio is a Christian Non fiction book. Louie tells the reader it is important to understand who God really is and not who We think He is. We often have a very distorted view of God and this distorted view of God clouds are perspective of life. He says if Jesus got the nails pounded in Him He must love us very deeply. He says if we can be open to changing our view of God we will see Him for who He really is and deepen our relationship with Him. We will then realize we are highly valued and esteemed by God. God does not view us like our earthly Father may have viewed us. God is unconditional and consistent. When We view life from this perspective we will live in freedom and our relationship with God will deepen and be richer. He also encourages us to watch how we think since our thinking should be from an eternal perspective. This book is written in a very personal and practical way. In Not Forsaken, Louie Giglio’s latest novel, he addresses those who have had great earthly fathers, those who have non-existent fathers, and every type of father in-between. He gives the revelation that many times we compare our earthly father to our heavenly father, leaving us to believe a less than perfect image of who Abba is. Throughout Not Forsaken, Louie continually speaks into the depths of your heart and reminds you of your new identity found in Jesus Christ, equipping you to seek God to heal the wounds of the past and live out your life in true freedom only found in Jesus. Not Forsaken by Louie Giglio is a book that I wish I had when I was just beginning to walk with the Lord due to knowing just how important it is to know God as Abba and your identity in him as his child. No matter where you are in your walk with God Not Forsaken will help you grow closer to the Father, release you from the lies of comparing your earthly father to your heavenly father, and assist you in walking as a Child of God! Overall the review I give Not Forsaken by Louie Giglio is a solid 5/5. Everyone, no matter your background or current life stance, needs to read this book and remember who they are and who Abba truly is. There is great freedom found and voids that are able to be filled when you know your heavenly father on a personal basis. As Louie Giglio states, “through our faith in Christ, we can find the father we have been longing for all along”.

I knew what this book was about when I picked it up. I knew it was going to be about our earthly fathers as well as our heavenly Father. I thought I was ready to read it. But I wasn't. I read the first chapter, cried my eyes out, and promptly tossed it on the coffee table and walked away. But that book just kept calling my name. So I picked it back up and read some more. I cried a little more and put it back on the coffee table. After this second reading session I knew I needed to finish it. I knew I would find healing in the end but I also knew it would be like ripping a band-aid off. And it was. My earthly father was a flawed man. He hurt me deeply but God showed me how to forgive and move on. Louie Giglio's writing took me through that journey again and it was tough but it was so worth it. If you have a father, and we all do, you need to read this book. Even if you have to read it over a period of time like I did you should. Being able to see your relationship through the lens of your heavenly Father puts things in perspective. I found this book to be a hard read but worth every tear. We all have a longing for a good father and this affirms that He's already there just waiting for you to come to Him. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

God as Father is so misunderstood due in a lot of ways to the earthly fathers we've experienced. Giglio writes a compelling book on why we shouldn't use our own experiences of earthy fathers to overly influence our perspectives of God. the Father. Certainly, there are many great earthly fathers who reflect many of the qualities of our God, however, the goodness of God and His unending love are way beyond anything human fathers are able to be. Giglio encourages the reader to confront our images of the father and reveals the nature of the Heavenly Father. For many this might be a difficult read having had negative father experiences but Giglio gently helps the reader work through this. Sure, this book won't replace a good counsellor, however, provides such an in-depth insight into the loving nature of God it provides hope to those who've had such a poor experience. There are so many good chapters but I found Chapter 10, the last one, to be an absolute cracker. In this chapter, Giglio works through how we are able to become more like Christ using some brilliant verses that sum up the 'divine nature' that is both present in us and accessible to develop the fruits of the Holy Spirit in maturing as the beloved sons and daughters of Christ. Go get a copy of this book. Giglio has an engaging style, not unlike how he speaks, and as a result is very accessible and gracious. I received an advanced unfinished copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley with no expectations of a favourable review.

From the beginning this feels like more than a book. It feels more like a personal conversation with a dear friend. Louie asks us to join him for a cup of coffee and the conversation turns to fathers; your father, his father and the perfect Father. Together we go on a journey, sometimes painful, sometimes funny, but mostly hopeful. In the end we find the perfect Father we have always hoped for and we find out He's crazy about us, doesn't want eternity without us. So much so that he made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf, sending His perfect Son, Jesus, to die in our place as payment for our sins. I love Louie Giglio. God used him in an incredibly breathtaking way to speak hope into my life on the most painful of days, my wife's funeral. God sent Louie to a little stone church in North Carolina to interrupt the reception line with a message for me from my perfect heavenly Father. "I see you, I'm with you, you are on my radar, I'm going to be right here every step of the way during this dark night of your soul and beyond.... forever." In this wonderful book, Not Forsaken, he delivers this same message to you. Please get it and read it. You'll be so glad you did.

"Not Forsaken" is a great title and encouragement for readers to realized that God the Father is perfect and while our earthly fathers may have been good or bad fathers, to not let our experiences with him to distort our image of who God really is. Around 230 pages, the book addresses many topics, including: 1. Taking a quote from AW Tozer - what we think about God is the most important thing about ourselves. 2. Distorted views of God the Father. 3. 6 types of earthly father figures in our lives. 4. Key truths about what Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross. 5. Characteristics of the perfect Heavenly Father. 6. What our position in Christ frees us from. 7. Characteristics of spiritual maturity when we grow in Christ. Very readable, informative, and encouraging, the book will be an excellent gift to anyone who struggles with how they think God views them. Not Forsaken is a Christian living non-fiction book by author Louie Giglio. I wanted to read this book because it’s by an author I trust and admire. The author states: This book is for anyone who longs to hear their daddy say ‘I Love You and I’m so proud of you.’ (pg# 4) He wrote this book to help the reader find freedom in God as a perfect heavenly Father. (pg# 23) A quote I pondered on: ‘The most important thing about you is what you think about when you think about God. This book is GREAT for new believers who may wrestle with understanding the concept of a Heavenly Father. It is also inspiring for more seasoned believers who may need the encouragement and refocus on perception... it can also be used as a tool to equip Disciples as they go out and seek to lead others into deeper understanding of who Abba Father really is. Pastor Giglio voices this easy-to-listen audio book. He begins with imagery which sets the stage for much of his discussions. Written so that people at various spiritual levels can relate, he also breaks down the different 'types' of perceptions we can have of God. He goes on to share 6 Father figure traits, good and bad, and works hard to dispel the less-than Godly projections we may have toward our Heavenly Father. My favorite chapter was Chapter 6 where he discussed forgiveness and it's purpose at length. I've been wronged more often than I can count in my life, even by my dad, and walking out forgiveness is something I am always grateful to be reminded of. This is Louie's masterpiece and my favorite of his. It is also one of his most quotable books he has ever written. I read the book in a few days as I could not put it down. While he does not shy away from addressing the fact that so many people have not had good fathers, his father was an encouraging and present figure. He shares that "This book is for everyone who has a father. And for all those who know what it's like to long for a father's blessing–a father's approval, affection, and attention. It's for anyone who longs to hear your daddy say, 'I love you and I'm so proud of you.'" He goes further, "but what unites us is the need that's woven into our souls–the need to be loved, and treasured, and noticed, and accepted by our father....We're all intrinsically wired to flourish under the waterfall of our father's blessing." But Louie points to the greater father, God the Father as the source. The book is a beautiful journey to better understand what fatherhood looks like for all of us and how only God can provide it.

This book is amazing. It is a book I really needed to read. If you've struggled with your relationship with God as your Abba Father it is very helpful. Many of us don't/didn't have a good relationship with our earthly father's so that struggle is there. Louie is very adept at giving scripture showing God's love for His children. God loves you! Not Forsaken: Finding Freedom as Sons and Daughters of a Perfect Father by Louie Giglio is a well-written and powerfully written book that can hit home for all of us who have an imperfect earthly father. The book addresses our heart longings that come from experiencing all kinds of fathers - from absentee fathers to good yet imperfect fathers - since we all have imperfect earthly fathers. The book is full of empathy and a call to see God as Father as He is described in the Bible and what that means for us on the earth today. The book isn't so heavenly-minded that it isn't grounded in day-to-day realities but isn't so earthly-bound that it doesn't challenge us to expand our concepts and have a hope in something more than what we currently see and feel. Just started reading Not Forsaken on Friday, and it’s so good. Looking at God as a father that we can go to, that loves us, that champions us, is so important. We can so easily compare God to our earthly father, which could be either good or bad. We could see God as an angry God, a God that’s only there when we need Him, or an almost perfect God. But God is so much more than all that. He loves us more than any person here on earth could ever love us. He cares about us even more than our earthly fathers. No matter who your earthly father is, whether he was/is good or bad, God is even greater than him. Even if you were forsaken by your earthly father, there’s good news. Jesus was forsaken by His Heavenly Father, the God of the universe on the cross, so we never would be forsaken by Him. No matter what your relationship with your dad looks like, this book is so great for everyone. I highly recommend this book, and I don't think you'll be disappointed by it!

We can't allow the discomfort of what has happened to keep us from moving forward. Our heavenly father is not the same as our earthly father. While we can choose to get to a place of reconciliation with our earthly father, it should not keep us from right now in this moment allowing a Father who has always loved us at arm's length. Through personal experience, through others' stories, and through Scripture, Louie Giglio shares of the true character of the God we call Father.

Because my father wound has had an adverse effect on my life from the age of four, I was drawn to this title. Since I was already familiar with Louis Giglio’s preaching style, I knew I was in for a good read. This book has not disappointed me. It has made me cry several times from deep inner reservoirs, though. However, I expected that going in. When you are ready for healing, you know it’s going to hurt. Maybe that’s why the cover is jet black. However, there is true, beautiful hope in these pages as well. He writes about how our Father God wants to redeem and restore us, no matter how our earthly fathers let us down. An excellent read for adult children of divorce or those who have been abused or neglected by their fathers. Favorite quote: “We’re all intrinsically wired to flourish under the waterfall of our father’s blessing.” I received a preview copy of Not Forsaken from B & H Publishers.

In the first chapter, Louie warns us several times that we're going to want to stop reading. He was right! The chapter was not easy. I was tempted to put down the book and say, "this isn't for me." I am so thankful I pressed on! Chapters 2 & 3 are fantastic, as is the overall message of this book. It has something for everyone, whatever your relationship (or lack thereof) with your earthly father. It helped me as a father (but not without a lot of soul searching). More importantly, it helped me understand my heavenly Father and brought me closer to Him. I agree that my belief about Jesus is the most important thing about me, because I move toward that mental image. This book is critical to understanding what it means to become God's child. Jesus showed us and taught us who God is.

This book begins with someone’s daddy problem, but goes way deeper. Knowing that we are a beloved child of the heavenly Father, this changes how we see and perceive and do things. A particular thing that’s changed – we’ll see our dad as a broken son, who may never have experienced Fatherly love. You only see this after you forgive your dad, just as you’ve been forgiven by God. Once we realize this, we so want to show our dad the heavenly blessing that we’ve got, but he hasn't. This is an insight that I’ve never had, but resonates with every teaching of the Scripture. At the end of this book, Pastor Louie Giglio reminds us that we don't stop at being loved and blessed by Father. Rather, we are to be imitators of God as beloved children. This is our new identity, our new essence, and our life builds on that. What a thing to say. It’s gonna be a life-transforming experience.

Not Forsaken is an excellent and easy read. It can and will shift your mind, heart, and life around what a father looks like. Whether you have the dad who has been supportive and present; an absent dad; a dad that is abusive, etc. - this book comes around the GREAT news that WE ALL have a Perfect Father! He will never forsake us. He will never let us down. He always knows what is best for us. He lavishly loves us and wants a relationship with us. Pastor Louie dives right in sharing a thoughtful and truth-filled message about who we truly are. The message Pastor Louie unpacks within its pages is one of a kind and just what this generation needs! Your life will be changed by reading this and I know this book's message will have a ripple effect for many years to come.

This book is such a wonderful reminder of the hope and freedom that we have in our perfect Father in Heaven. No matter if your relationship with your earthly father is/was good or bad, there is so much hope to be found in these pages because God is the perfection of our earthly dad. I found the stories and illustrations along with Scripture to be inspiring and comforting. Definitely recommend checking out this book! Timeless and timely - two words that perfectly describe this book! I have read many of PLG’s books, each one arriving at a pivotal time in my walk with the Lord, and I have finished each one with a renewed mindset of what faith and grace look like. He is a prolific writer, as well as a phenomenal pastor and teacher- I simply cannot suggest this book enough! The scars are still there for me, but so is Jesus and His cross- He gives me a story to tell and I am so thankful that PLG reminds me of that in Not Forsaken!

It’s always refreshing to learn/hear more about the Father’s Heart. This book really dives into the simple truths that we tend to complicate or that our circumstances tend to complicate. This book has allowed me to check my heart in how I operate with my own father and when I need to take a step back and just receive from The Perfect Father 📖 🙌🏼 When I heard about the book release at @passionconference, I knew I had to get my hand on a copy. this book. it’s so encouraging. so inspiring. so affirming in the fact that we can rest in the truth that our heavenly father is perfect and loves us. he was forsaken by his father so we wouldn’t have to be forsaken by our heavenly father. what an amazing love he’s shown us. this book is an easy read and i encourage every single person to go and read it. it’s going to speak to each person in an unique way and can’t wait to se show it impacts different people!

This book takes a look at God as our Father. It digs into the love God has for us and His compassionate care for us, no matter what type of earthly father we may have had. It shows His astounding, unending, surrounding, stunning love for US -His creation and chosen children. It shares insight to the changes our Father can bring about in us, in our lives, and the power He can work for transformation and forgiveness. It shows His magnificent goodness and tender heart. This book lead me to a true breakthrough! I had always held my earthly father on a pedestal because he definitely met basic needs, like coming home every night and providing well for us. However, telling me of his love or delighting in me at all were much harder for him to do. Pretty normal scenerio in today's society and a TERRIBLE filter for us to experience our Father God's love through! This is a book you'll want to revisit often. What could be more important than to know, at the heart level, that we are not forsaken by God ?!

Such an amazing and well written book. No matter what kind of father you have had this book will speak to you. It sheds so much and grace on our relationship with our earthly father healing wounds we may not have even been aware were there. Louie shares his experience, and together with God’s word, helps us to see our earthly father as a human like us while putting God as our perfect father. Understanding the difference frees us from baggage and hurtful wounds. This book is a great resource to use now and refer back to in the future.

you won't be able to put down this book as soon as it's in your hands. the read of this book evidently shows the love that our Heavenly Father has for us. a love that doesn't fail or give up, but chases after us, constantly. it's affirming that we are not forgotten, that God still knows our address, reminding us that He is a on time God, and that He lives within us, His children. i encourage to purchase this book to engrave these truths into your heart, believe in that reading this God has more to come for you.

I loved this book from beginning to end. It was given to me at a pivotal moment in my life where I had just lost my father to cancer . This book help me see that I have God as a perfect Father . That I have freedom by being His daughter . Through the chapters Louie gave us I realized the voided areas I felt and the relationship I longed for in my early father was something God can and would fill .

This book is an amazing book and a must read Louie Giglio does an amazing job on explaining how much of a role our father plays in our daily walk with Christ as well as how much our Heavenly Father loves and cares for us and has a huge impact on our lives everyday as well. If you haven’t bought or read this book I strongly recommend it, it is a must read for everyone, it will make an impact on your life for years to come!!!

I was able to get his pre-released book from the Passion conference. I have always heard of how great his books were and was so excited to read a bunch of them. This on is my all time favorite of Louie Giglio’s it is so eye opening no matter the status of your earthly father. It is continual reassurance that there is a God who calls us His and we are therefore heirs to His throne. I highly recommend this read for it is so easy to follow along!

Such an important message and word in a time where our world is more lonely, depressed and isolated than ever. Wow, great read and I’m so encouraged!! What an incredible truth that Louie centers in on, that throughout all of our anxiety, pain, longing for affection, depression... our Heavenly Father offers us ultimate rest, security, peace, acceptance and love. We can now take steps forward by resting and remembering our Heavenly Father knows our needs and loves us so much! Praise God!!

I have worked with students my entire career, I have seen first hand the impact of having a great father, a non existent father, and an abusive father can have. This books is a wonderful illustration and explanation of our need for God to fill the role in our lives of the perfection of our earthly father. I am so excited to see how the words of this book transform the lives of those who read it. It has already changed how I see myself and my relationship with God!

This book serves to remind that although any father figure may fail, it’s okay because we are children of one who never will. God will never forsake us and we don’t even have to question if we’re good enough. He already loves us - we don’t have to long for a father’s love. This book was purchased as a gift for my daughter - it is exactly what she needs! When your father is absent, it is difficult (that's an understatement) to understand the relationship of God as Father. Louis Giglio's books are so wonderful to study; it's never a preachy concept you're given, just true life examples. As you're reading, it's as if you're being spoken to personally. If you struggle with relating to God as a loving Father, please read this book!

As a daughter who was forsaken by an earthly father, this book means so much to me! As Louie talks about the cross and how it’s the place you claim God’s forgiveness and fatherhood, I am reminded of all the moments Jesus carried me and didn’t leave me when I so desperately desired the relationship with a Father. Louie's description of seeking a father's attention really struck me. Do any of us not grow up asking our dad to watch us? I'm listening to this book on audio. Giglio has a great reading voice. This book meets you where you are, whether your relationship with your dad or as a dad has been wonderful or lacking. He assures readers again and again of a father who knows us intimately and is worth pursuing. A wonderful Father's Day gift.

I received this book as a pre-order through Passion Conferences and I have to say, this life changing book is truly an excellent must-read! Louie Giglio explains how God is not a better version of our earthly father, but a PERFECT version of our earthly father. The powerful messages found within these pages are full of love, hope, truth, inspiration, and encouragement. God continually reminds us that we are not forsaken!

This book was an easy read. Louie does a great job of explaining God's unwavering deep love for all of us. This book is filled biblical truths explained with in a loving way. God is pursuing us, we feel uneasy until our surrender....then we can how we were created to live.

A MUST READ!!!! Wow... speechless... I have my own issues with my dad and I’ve had a few father figures come into my life and leave more wreckage than than the last. I cried on the first six (6) pages, because I have never had read anything or talked to anyone that has been able to validate my feelings on this subject. Thank you, Louie!

Just like all of Louie’s books do this simplifies our relationship with our Heavenly Father. He clearly defines the differences between our earthly and heaven father relationships and how truly perfect our God is. I’d recommend this book to anyone who has a dad. It’s a very easy read and the best part it’s easy to comprehend and share as you go through your life.

This book has been opening my eyes to see how my God really is my perfect Father. There’s a lot of tough stuff that Pastor Louie dives into, but it’s stuff that is so needed for so many people to hear. Definitely will pass this book along to others after I’m finished!

Louie Giglio has changed my life. From his infamous Indescribable sermon to Goliath Must Fall, now Not Forsaken, I am completely amazed by the way the Lord works through Louie Giglio. This is a must read.

I heard Louie speak on this topic at Passion 2019 and knew I had to get the book. The book is an easy read but has so much power and wisdom behind it. “Not Forsaken” has truly impacted my life and it will yours as well!
