Jen Wilkin

God is self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign, infinite, and incomprehensible.

We're not.

And that's a good thing.

Our limitations are by design. We were never meant to be God. But at the root of every sin is our rebellious desire to possess attributes that belong to God alone. Calling us to embrace our limits as a means of glorifying God's limitless power, Jen Wilkin invites us to celebrate the freedom that comes when we rest in letting God be God.

Jen Wilkin's materials need to be added to every Christian's library

In my opinion, Jen Wilkin is one of the most important teachers of our time. In a time where Christian resources and a plethora of ideas abound, we need solid exposition and teaching, and Jen Wilkin is that. If she is anything, she is faithful to the Word of God. Her materials do not reek of fluff and silly alliteration or other literary devices. In contrast, her illustrations are meaningful and relatable, bringing depth and context to the point at hand. Wilkin is at once profound yet accessible. After working through Tozer, Grudem, and Pink in studying God's character and attributes, her book is a welcome change, well organized and easily grasped. Readers should know that this book is a study of the 10 Incommunicable Attributes of God (attributes true only of Him) whereas her new release, "In His Image" is a study of his communicable attributes (attributes true of God and of the believer). Early on in this book she provides a list of both of these. His incommunicable attributes that are discussed in this book are: 1. Infinite 2. Incomprehensible 3. Self-Existent 4. Self-Sufficient 5. Eternal 6. Immutable 7. Omnipresent 8. Omniscient 9. Omnipotent 10. Sovereign Each chapter is followed with verses for meditation and questions to journal through. Could easily be used for a book club and/or women's study. I'm using it as a resource to develop materials for our upcoming women's retreat at church. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

This Book Is Important

This book is important. Not because Jen Wilkin wrote it, not because the front cover is appropriately attractive, and not because it carries endorsements from all the right modern Christian leaders. Nope, this book is important because reading it will totally make you FALL IN LOVE WITH GOD. If you love Him already, read this book and LOVE Him more. None Like Him doesn't contain any magic formula; the book simply organizes and illustrates, in lovely-to-discover language, 10 of the Lord's majestic characteristics. I recently led a group of 35+ women in weekly meetings as we prepared for an intense weekend of disciplining other women. At each weekly meeting, I prepared a devotional highlighting one of the characteristics, using Jen's book as a guide. By focusing on and dwelling in God's incredible awesomeness, our team was much better prepared to love, serve and disciple wounded women. I will go back to this book again and again to remind myself why I need my Father God, and why He deserves my love, awe and reverence.

READ THIS BOOK!! TELL EVERYONE ABOUT IT!

Love Love Love!!! It's about time a woman Christian author cut out the crap and give us the true God of the Bible. This book is easy to read but hard to digest...it is convicting as we look at God for who He is, not who we want Him to be. Jen Wilkin is a true student of God's word and her heart is for women to take God at His word and to be transformed by it.

I love that this book with its insightful questions and prayer ...

If you are ever in a slump in your relationship with God, read this book. It really is all about Him. I love that this book with its insightful questions and prayer suggestions helped me to see Him in the proper perspective. It's interesting and informative without being dull and dry. However, like any Christian book you read, IMO, if the author's understanding of scripture has "evolved" to a more liberal worldview their writings start to reflect that. Always interpret scripture with scripture, my Pastor says.

Heart and Soul Changing

Short review - great book! Read it! Longer version - Wilkin does an excellent job of showing the greatness of God and comparatively, our own insignificance. Though my pride took a few shots, my self-esteem did not as I was comforted by the greatness and graciousness of God and His love for me. I read this book with a friend who has limited Bible knowledge and we both learned amazing things. The depth is not so deep as to be over the head of new believers or seekers. The cover may have pink flowers on a teal background, written from a woman's POV, but men will benefit from reading it, as well. Wilkin's writing style is easy to read, with pertinent and practical examples to which readers can relate. The chapter questions were deep but not overwhelming. In addition, each chapter asked the reader to write a prayer regarding that chapter's subject. Don't skip this! It was when writing these prayers that my own misconceptions or sin was revealed, leading to a deeper knowledge of and relationship with God. I can't recommend this book enough!

Changes ahead if you read this book

This book has changed my view of God, but mostly it's changed my view of myself. My God is LIMITLESS but I'm limited. He is ALL in ALL and I'm nothing apart from Him. I plan to use this book as the basis for a Women's Bible Study in the near future. That's how good it is. I want all my friends to read it and experience the change.

Thoughtful and Challenging Study!

This was my first time reading anything by this author so I was curious. The theme of the study book and the chapter headings had me eager and ready for some thought-provoking reading and a chance to further study a subject that will always pull me in- The character of God. Wilkin's writing style and careful inclusion of theology and Scripture were well-done. It was easy reading on one level, but challenged the reader to meditate and consider, pray and study more on another level. I chose to spend a great deal of time on and between each chapter including doing the study questions, further meditation reading, and prayer journaling along with the chapters. I enjoyed pursuing further study on each chapter. The introduction and wrap-up chapters were great, giving me a direction at the beginning and an overview to remind me where I'd been while pulling it all together for me. I highly recommend this book and study to deepen Spiritual walk and knowledge. It's for everyone and makes a good group read-study manual.

WOW!!!!!

This book is AMAZING!! It put my heart back together again. It took the blinders off of my ears and made my heart flesh again. The repenting that I did!! It changed my life and my walk with God. It is changing my relationship with myself which is changing my relationship with others. I'm telling everyone I know about it!!! A HEARTFELT THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS BOOK. I'M reading it again with my husband. It's already shifting him too!!!!

Great Insights of God's character and their relevance today.

Used for a group discussion, our small group was completely engaged in the 10 attributes Jen Wilkins used to describe God's character from a biblical perspective, and how they can change our mindset as to how we view God, others and ourselves. Her perspective has inspired me to trust God more and look around at the opportunity to see others (and me) as God sees them--created, fallen, and highly valued. Don't let the introduction lead you into thinking that this is a "Christian Women's book". I think that any Jesus follower or a non-Christian interested in understanding the biblical description of God's nature and character would benefit from this readable, sometimes funny, inspiring book. Jen Wilkin writes with clarity and a good grasp of the scriptures while still living life in our modern world.

This book is amazing!! I recommend it for every women

This book is amazing!! I recommend it for every women, young, old, new believer and seasoned. Each chapter ends with questions to promote prayer, and they aren't the shallow "tell me your feelings" questions. They are really good for helping you reflect on the chapter and looking deeper into how you view and relate with God. I have read this book twice, and it is humbling. I am trying to learn how I should approach God, and this book helps.

On the fence

This book is an easy read. Maybe, too easy. I appreciated how this book acknowledged the 10ways God is not like us however, I felt the tone (or examples used) of the book was not meant for every "type" of woman. As well as some examples seemed to cancel one another out. I read this book with a group of women and we all seemed to be underwhelmed. I think this book is great for a new believer or someone that is in question of God (as we all may be at some point). This book just didn't work for me & my group, as it seems contradictory, biased, and off-putting towards the author (not God). If you don't read any of the stories/examples, great book.

Nor “Knowing Us” Than God

If you’re looking for a “Bible” study this isn’t it. Instead of focusing on Who God Is she turns her focus to the “created” and how we fail more than who God is. You spend more time studying the counterfeit (us) instead if studying the Perfect (God) . A better better book to read us “Knowing God” by J.I. Packer. Packer focuses on God and by comparison it allows you to see just how imperfect we are in comparison.

A punch in the face!

My biggest complaint regarding the book is the author opening and closing the book with the desire to punch someone in the face. I just find that type of language unbecoming of Christian books that churches ordain for reading. Otherwise, the writing was top notch and very insightful to the mysteries of our Creator. But twice I was offended with that ever rude remark which drops the entire value of the book to 2 stars.

If you are seeking God, consider reading this book

Author, Jen Wilkin, has written a Bible-based book about the ten attributes of God that has changed the way I know Him. I now know my God in more specific terms - such as The God of No Limits, The God of Infinite Sameness, the God of Infinite Mystery. The ultimate goal is to know God better, but in doing so, I've learned more about myself and how God sees me. I have recommended this book to several women, and would like to study this in our couples group at church. Every Christian could benefit from owning and reading this book. When you finish this book, I recommend reading Wilkin's book "In His Image".

Straightforward and Biblical, worth your time

What I liked: honest, biblical, straightforward. What I didnt like: recognizing my own sinful desires to be like God as clear as day. And yet of course, a believer must also be grateful to see her sin that she may turn from it. A worthy read for every Christian woman (or man, hey Jen, I know some men who would appreciate a black cover and no flowers... ;) Although I think your design is absolutely beautiful as it is).

Easy and powerful read

This book was magnificent and is for men as well even though Wilkin targets women with her writing! As a male I gleaned greatly from Wilkin’s insight. Reading this books not only led me to greater awe of who God is, but it also insightfully exposed sinful struggles and proper responses. It was a very easy read, but also very good. Highly recommended!

Must Read

I help lead a weekly women's bible study and we are going through this book together. Jen Wilkin provides excellent clarity, comparisons, and biblical evidence of how God is different from us but why that is OK. She makes references to her life but also makes it relatable to the reader. Each chapter highlights a characteristic about God and goes into depth about what it means, why it's important, and why we don't share those same characteristics as Him but can strive to be like other traits (e.g. loving, merciful, etc.) Also, it is a combination of an easy read but still has depth to it. I know sometimes I get overwhelmed with reading certain Christian texts because I have trouble deciphering what is being said but Jen Wilkin's wording is straight to the point and she's not afraid to tell it like it is. Definitely recommend it for individuals or for group gatherings! I have her other book, In His Image, and I am excited to dive into that one!

For Audio CD only - too fast

This review is for the audio CD set; the content is excellent, but the narrator reads the book so fast it is hard to keep up with. I am a fast reader and listener and have never encountered this problem with a book on CD (I listen daily during my 2 hour commute to work and back), but it's so fast I am thinking of returning. I had hoped to give others a copy of this, but can't in good conscience because of the speed of her reading. This is important material and needs a slower, more thoughtful pace.

somewhat difficult

I purchased this book for small group gathering from my church. I was able to understand the point of this book or each chapter but the way the author selected some vocabulary and style was not matching with mine. I had to re-read most of the part to understand it fully. Felt it like it's like a college text book if this makes sense to you. I prefer books that is easy to read and empathize. But this book couldn't do that for me. (it could be just me as a bilingual)

Great for Small Groups

This book is insightful and funny and convicting. I read it in my small group and we discussed each chapter together. The questions at the end of each chapter lead to meaningful conversations. The author has a great sense of humor, which makes this a quick read. I love how she puts things in context of modern life, but at the same time follows a path carved from the Bible.

Accessible, practical theology

The author makes biblical truth accessible, not by watering it down, but by writing well and using personal examples. Highly recommended. Although some say "You can't judge a book by a cover," this cover image may be an exception. A thumbnail of the cover attracted my daughter's interest, and she borrowed the book. Normally, she would not be reading theology. . . .

Inspired :)

Took this devotional on an international trip and am so glad I did :) It helped me think of God in new ways. It is worth the read for yourself or to give as a gift to someone else needing encouragement or to feel more in awe of the God who created the universe and love us deeply.

No sugar coating approach

I got this book for a summer Bible Study. I am not crazy about everything Jen WIlkin says, but I respect her straight forward approach of getting a message across. Often it takes me several paragraphs of reading to get on board with her reasoning, but I do eventually see where she is coming from. I like that verses mentioned are often quoted so I don't have to constantly go back and forth from Bible to Book.

Okay

Am reading this book and Tozer's at the same time. Like Tozer's book KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY better. Seems much deeper. Although I DO like her application questions at the end of each chapter.

Amazing Perspective!

Jen Wilkin is amazing! Just half-way through with a women's Bible study group. This book makes you look at the Bible verses we have read over and over with a deeper understanding and Love of God. I would recommend to anyone who wants to understand what it means to have a relationship with God.

NONE LIKE HIM

This is an excellent book and very well written. Jen Wilken helps the reader understand who God is and why that is important to each of us as believers! The questions at the end of each chapter enable each reader to apply this new understanding of God to their life. My friend and I used it as a study so we could discuss each chapter, but it is written for personal study.

This is a wonderful book.

Even tho' this book is by a woman and more or less geared toward women, it is equally pertinent for both sexes. It is a clear reminder that God is "other". There are discussion questions after each chapter so it could be used as a study. It would be nice to talk it over among fellow believers.

Profound yet understandable.

Like this author. Read her other book In His Image which I thoroughly enjoyed. We used it as a study group 1x a month. Liked her examples, scriptures, insights and used some questions that were provided for discussion or created my own. Definately a keeper to review.

Beautiful character portrait of our Father!

This book is a breath of fresh air for the believer! I shared it with many and everyone (men and women) were blessed by it. We need to know who God is and who we are in light of Him. Jen writes like I imagine she talks so her message is not lost in translation. I'm re-reading this every year for some "fresh, well-seasoned, perspective" to use a phrase from the movie Ratatouille.

Fresh and real

Fantastic book. The author is down to earth, shares great experiences to drive home her points, and keeps it real by being honest. She offers fresh eyes that see scriptures in a bold way. I actually used this book in Sunday School as a teaching tool and it was enjoyed by many.

Outstanding Book; A Must-Read for Every Christian

This book is not only outstanding but life changing. We have to know who God is if we are going to love him. The truths that the author reveals about God from scripture will bring the reader peace, hope, and comfort.

Very good!

Going through this book with my women's Bible study. So good- she has a way of communicating very deep thoughts/issues in a graceful yet super honest way. Promotes excellent discussion with the Lord as well as others.

Lasting Impression

This book left me thinking about how great God is and how much I need him long after finishing the book. I continue to make connections to it throughout other Bible studies and sermons listened to. Insightful book!

Great Book and Study! Loved it!

My book club chose this and I'm so glad! I like how the author organized the content, chapters, includes study questions at the end of each chapter, and verses to meditate on. She refers to scripture quite a bit, which I like, because I could go read the verses and understand what she is trying to convey. She really got me thinking and meditating a lot. I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend to believers and non-believers. It's not a hard read, and easy to follow along.

This book touched me deeply

I don’t usually read Christian Women’s books. I tend to find them superficial or stereotypical. But THIS book is deep, profound, honest, in your face. Declaring God’s uniqueness, our own fallen humanity and His immense love for us, it convicts and leads us to AWE of the One God who is truly AWESOME. A necessary read for anyone interested in taking their eyes off themselves.

Must read

Wow what a short easy read. Well the words are the content is so deep and convicting. I don't know Him like I want to. The more I know Him the more evident it will be in my treatment of others. Could be done alone but it's an amazing group study

Not just for women

I love that the author was thorough without being repetitive. She also did an excellent job of drawing out practical applications without ripping verses out of context. This book is great for individuals or small groups as it has questions for reflection at the end of each chapter (although you could skip those if you're in a demanding season of life).

I highly recommend it. It's one of those times in my ...

I am loving this book. I've done a lot of Bible studies over the years and have recently been asking (praying) for God to show me more of who He is, help me to know Him more. This book has really been an answer to prayer for me. It is written very well, simple to understand and yet very spiritually deep. I highly recommend it. It's one of those times in my life I can point directly to and see clearly that I have grown in understanding.

Wonderful Book!

I used this in teaching a Ladies Sunday School Class. We loved focusing on the attributes of God which we do not possess. He is God. We are not. And that is good.

This is one of the best books I have ever read

This is one of the best books I have ever read. I ordered another one for a gift and want to get more. Jen Wilkin helps you remember why the attributes of God are important and she delves deep into what each means. As soon as I am able to, I will be ordering more copies, including another for myself since I lent mine out and want to give it to my friend.

A great look into God's character

I loved this book! It was packed with lots of truth and helped me remember that I can rely on God in ways I can't rely on humans. Jen did a good job diving into ten attributes of God and exploring them. I highly recommend!

Excellent, blessing to read

Excellent- very well written, a blessing to read. Aside from the bible, this is the best book I have ever read that has described the attributes of God.

Really good book. Wish it was a little longer.

I led a Bible study with this book, and it was well received. In true Wilkins style, the book focused on God but still offered plenty of personal application, and we had great discussions. It's right and healthy to have a proper sense of all that God is - and all that I am NOT. Wilkins manages to make complex topics approachable, and she can be really funny. As a former book editor, I find her to be a gifted writer. A couple notes - It seemed that Wilkins was constrained to a short page count for this book, because some of the chapters seems like they could have been fleshed out quite a bit more. I was often left wishing she could have elaborated. Finally, this book seems to be more applicable to type A's, perfectionists, or those who like to be in control. We had a true right-brained woman in the study, and she found the book to be far less applicable to her. She doesn't feel a natural compulsion to fight God or usurp his authority (in her words, she has other problems - more along the lines of complacency), so this study might be better geared toward perfectionistics. Wilkins must have noticed that there seem to be a lot of those among the American female population. :)

No one is Like God

Jen Wilkin has a wonderful way of stating things we already know, the obvious, so we see the other side of who God is and we are not. Her book generates great discussions in our Bible study.

... this as a book club for our church and love how challenging yet beautifully this is written

We are using this as a book club for our church and love how challenging yet beautifully this is written. It's a little hard to discuss in bookclub format, but it's allowed us to have some great conversations once we really get into it. Would recommend to anyone.

A Much-Needed Word

Chocked full of scripture, this book challenges the reader to examine our view of God. Each chapter ends with additional scriptures and questions for reflection.

A great study for anyone wanting to understand God better!

This was a great study on the attributes of God. I read it with a ladies group, and it was easy to read. Jen Wilkin’s ability to make tough subjects more understandable is a true gift and the scripture references were a perfect complement.

Amazing

By far the best bible study/devotional book I have ever read. We are currently going through this in the Bible study that I lead and the resounding opinion is that it is changing our lives in regards to how we see God. Totally wrecking us in the best ways. Thank you Jen! I highly recommend :)

Great look into the character and attributes of God

I read this book over the summer, and just went to hear her speak at a Women's Conference on this topic. I recommend both! It's very thought provoking, challenging, and Biblical. If A. W. Tozer was correct in this quote, "“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” then it's important for us to take a closer look at who God is.

No, None

The vignettes absolutely show that there is none like Him. They also provide ways that will help people to keep striving and to accept the imperfections that define us. We are human, not divine.

Highly Recommended....

I would highly recommend this book... and so refreshing to have a book for women that is engaging, Biblical and full of life giving truth.

Great Study!!!

Has been such a wonderful study for our small group ladies! Humbling reminder of who God is, and who I’m not. I will read this over and over again to be reminded of His unfailing goodness and character.

Good for small group discussion

I am only on chapter 4 but so far I am loving this book! My small group is discussing it twice a month. We LOVED chapter 3! Such a good discussion.

Worth your time

Wilkins writes with the wisdom of a humble heart and the insights of a scholar. She explores 10 attributes of God that have often missed my study and in a winsome, gracious way, shows me that The God of the Bible is much greater than I often realize. I highly recommend this. Don’t be thrown off if you are not a woman. My men’s group studied this with great benefit.

Awesome read

Biblically sound and relevant to everyday life! I enjoyed this book greatly. It definitely gave some new perspective and insight on the attributes of God that I had not considered before. Highly recommend!

Excellent

This is a very thought-provoking book based on the attributes of God. I especially appreciate Jen Wilkins' insight into the ways we try to usurp those attributes that truly only belong to Him. This will be a book I keep and re-read from time to time.

Refreshing

I had to take this book slowly as to digest each characteristic of God. It changed my perspective of myself being the center of my life to seeing the beauty of God being the center of life and how refreshing that is. I was able to identify areas in my life where I have been striving to do what is only God's job. This book brought peace to me by revealing more about God. Thank you Jen.

Was skeptical but was proven wrong

I was skeptical that I would gain anything from this book. 10 things about God seems cookie cutter, predictable, bland, and overly simplistic like those how-to books. However, after finishing the book, I learned some and reflected on things that I had previously forgotten. Good read! Worth the money!

Couldn’t get into this study

It’s an okay bible study for me. I’m just not getting into it very much. Don’t care that they ask you questions verbatim over what you just read. I understand the philosophy of rereading, but seems unnecessary to me.

Accessible to all

Using this book in a group of ladies. We all love it. It's so scriptural, and Jen just really has a way with words. Her stories and examples are so real, and so easy to relate to. She is challenging each of us in the way we view God. Highly recommend.

I am not God

This book is so profound in it's detailed description of God's divine characteristics. The more it reveals His uniqueness the more I am reminded that I fall into the same trap as Adam and Eve in the garden. I cannot be like God like the enemy tempts me to believe. But I'm oh so glad my God is so amazing.

Keep losing interest.

I loved the title & was hoping for a great read but I find this book to be very hard to get interested in. Sometimes I find myself having to re read sections. I was hoping it would be more personalable & relatable.

Not done but it's very good!

Ok I'm not done with this book but I love it. Trying to read it as a devotional daily. It's hard for me to wrap my head around how magnificent our God is! But that's what makes Him God. Good thing to read to get you into worship.

Amazing book

Amazing book for our first weekly book club meeting. A chapter a week was perfect and the conversations about the question was motivating for all! Can't wait to start In His Image!!

Love Jen Wilkin

I LOVED this book. I really changed my view of God and gave me a greater appreciation for who He is and the role he plays in the world and in my life. Would highly recommend! I am going to be using it as a small group book this upcoming year. Jen Wilkin is one of few female Christian writers who write strong, theological books that empower women!

Moving...

WOW. This book has completely changed my perspective on how great our God is! I love using each chapter as a devotional and supplementing it with my own bible plans. The author does an incredible job explaining each concept. I love the journal prompts at the end of each chapter. They encourage my prayer life and challenge me to apply the topics to my daily life.

Bible Study Book

This is a very good book about the Characteristics of God and how each is different from us.

Great book for spiritual growth

This is a great book. I recommend for anyone who desires to deepen their glimpse of who God is.

A must read.

Jen Wikin is an excellent Christian author. I read this book for personal growth and have used it as a reference in Bible studies.

Insightful.

Fantastic devotional treatment of incommunicable attributes of God. Insightful.

Insightful

I liked this book. I often shy away from ladies' book study books because they feel dumbed down and trite to me. I never learn anything. I did make connections with this books. She does a great job connecting our individual need to be like God (in a wrong way) to current social trends.

Excellent resource

This was CD with the author reading the book. It was very good material which I will share with others. Jen Wilken is one of the best Bible Study teachers for women.

Enlightening study

Jen’s podcasts (Flower Mound Women’s Bible Study) have taught me so much about the Bible and I am now hungry to learn more. She is a wonderful teacher with a pleasant voice, as well as a gifted writer. She is doing a lot for increased Bible literacy!

Just as good as first one

Just like her first book all great and want to read again and again

So good and eye opening!

This book is so good!! Its very eye opening to the character of God. It puts you in your place in a healthy and humble way. I read of a lot of books that help you with your spiritual walk and I recommend this book for sure!

I love Jen Wilkin's books

I love Jen Wilkin's books. This is a great resource for a Bible study or devotionals and addresses a lot of aspects of God in ways that aren't always the first that come to mind. Easy reading and very engaging. HIGHLY recommend.

Life-changing insights!

My best book of the year. Author extrapolates commonly held beliefs by suggesting practical implications of them that most of us never thought about before.

On my third time through this book

Truly enjoyed this book. I listened to it on Audible and bought the hardcover for my daughters. I like the writing style and teaching.

Teaching to stir the mind, heart and soul.

This is one of the best books I have read in a while. Bought several copies as gifts and they also were pleased with it. The author writes simply and makes you rethink your thoughts of God and yourself and others. Highly recommended.

I love deep thought about God

I chose a five star rating be a use the book was so well written, easy to read and understand. It brought me to a deep place of thought about God and worship of God. I would recommend this book for all women. Actually, men would get a lot out of it too. Excellent book! I just bought Jen Wilkins book titled "In His Image". Can't wait to read it.

Wonderful read

Granddaughter wanted this book, so she loved getting it.

A better understanding of our God! ( Be still and meditate!)

We used this book for a bible study class at church. I love the book! As a new Christian this book helped encourage me to study and explore areas of the bible that I haven't done thus far. I now try to get up in the morning read and be still. I'm learning so much and can't wait to read Jen's other book!

This book has been a blessing in my life.

I am loving reading this and learning about my AWESOME God!!

Great book!

Enjoying this with a ladies' bible study group. Jen Wilken is a good writer - very enjoyable book.

Great book for group discussion!

Received promptly and in good condition from the seller. It is a wonderful book and I can highly recommend it. Our church women's group read it prior to a retreat and everyone liked it. The author is easy to relate to and has a great sense of humor. I reaped a number of personal gems from reading it and from participating in group discussion.

Some good reminders

Well-written and straightforward, this little book contains some thought-provoking ideas about how we live our lives as though we are the masters of the universe. (Spoiler alert - we are not.) Great book for small group discussion.

Outstanding!

In this book, Jen Wilkin describes in detail with scriptural support ten attributes of God that make Him who He is. These are traits that explain why He is God and we are not. Easy to read and understand, yet profound. I highly recommend this book.

My Yardstick

What really hit home for me is ‘who is my yardstick ‘? God who is measureless is the only one Who I should use as my measure of my life and how He sees me.

Very warm Bible study

It's a Wonderful Bible study. Written in a warm and loving style reminding us of the Father's Love for His children. There are three to four questions and verses to look up at the end of each chapter for further study.

Very good study

Taught a womens Bible study using this book. Such a blessing to use. Fully engaged our group.

Solid biblical perspective

Love Jens book on learning about God's attributes.

Life changing

Life changing! What we think of when we think about God is the single most important thing in life. And this book has been just the beginning point for me in the study of the doctrine of God! I have loaned it out and talked about it more than any other book!

Wonderful reminder of who God truly is

Who is God? Who am I? In comparison I am nothing. But He gives me purpose and I see what my correct response to God should be

Best Christian Book (and I've read a lot)

this book was amazing. truth, not fluff. sound doctrine. and funny! I loved it. the best Christian book I've read in a long time.

Love Jen Wilken’s writing

Love Jen Wilken’s writing. My favorite Christian writer for sure! I’ve done so many of her Bible studies and read other books she’s written, and this one doesn’t disappoint.

OK but a simplistic

A little simplistic. Bought for a Bible study group, but after 2 chapters we decided it wasn’t for us.

Five Stars

Easy read but an edifying and enriching teaching on the attributes of God.

Wonderful book

What a wonderful book to read for my morning devotions! I love Jen's writing and the way she makes common biblical truths come alive in new ways. Highly recommend!

Excellent!

Jen Wilkin does a great job of pointing us to our awesome God. The more we learn to look to and worship our great God, the more our lives will reflect Him and bring praise to His glorious name.

Love this devotional!

Her style of writing is lovely and down to earth. Talking about the attributes of God can be mind blowing, but she breaks down each attribute as easily as one can while still maintaining His awesomeness. Great book to do on your own or in a group.

Good book

Good read

Awesome book on God’s attributes!

Wow. This is such a deep book with an incredible perspective on God’s attributes...and how we need to rest in Him, allowing Him to work for our good (even though we think that we want to be in control—we really don’t). Would highly recommend

Amazing!

This book truly helps you to take a step back and examine the attributes of God. It will allow you to examine your own heart and lead you into a closer relationship with the Lord, in awe of who he truly is

Inspirational

This very approachable book deals with the nature of God and our response to Him as we understand more. There are corresponding scripture references and a prayer at the end of each chapter. Very inspirational.

Solid biblical theology written for women. yes!

Jen Wilkin is a fantastic teacher and writer. This book has been an excellent tool for myself and I highly encourage other women to read it. I'm currently re-reading it with a group of women for a bi-weekly Bible study and it has been so fruitful.

Great

Great book

Pondering God- worth while!

I really enjoyed spending my time thinking on who God is and how that brings awe and stability to me. Definitely worth reading and thinking about to understand who God is a bit more.

Reminder of God's Sovereignty

I am so grateful for this book. It is full of wisdom! Digging deep into the attributes of God laid out in this book leave me with an understanding of my limits in light of His limitlessness. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom indeed!

Read it!

I highly recommend this! It has been encouraging to read these fundamental, but amazing truths about the Lord. Nothing she says is incredibly profound or new thoughts, but she addresses that. A must read!

Great study

Excellent

A must read

A wonderful book about the attributes of God explained in a very practical and easy to understand way. I can’t wait to read her next book.

Must Read!

A must read book to understand the Characteristics of God that we do not posses and how that can help us trust Him and seek Him more and more. It’s a very easy and enjoyable read and it will keep you wanting to read more and learn more of the God we worship.

Wonderful

We are using this book as I teach my Sunday school class. We are enjoying and learning more about our Lord and His creation.

A must-read!

Theologically sound, and as always, Jen Wilkin brings lofty concepts about God down to a level that is easy to digest.

A very good book!

Very much appreciated this well written book. A excellent read!

and then shows when we try to take those on - not a good plan - gives a fresh perspective in our journey ...

Going over this one again with some friends! How Jen presents the attributes of God that are unique to Him, and then shows when we try to take those on - not a good plan - gives a fresh perspective in our journey to know Him.

None Like Him

Wilkin breaks down Psalm 139 and shows how it is about God, not about us as we often like to claim. In the chapter are listed 10 characteristics about the God of the universe.

Good book

Good book

Truth!

Jen Wilkin does an excellent job of helping us refocus on the amazing perfection of God and teaching us how God’s attributes can impact our lives... if we are willing.

She has a roof off walls down humility and is also has a great wit.

So very grateful for Jen Wilkin's guardianship and stewardship of the teaching, writing and mentoring skills God has given her to bring Him Glory!!! She has a roof off walls down humility and is also has a great wit.

Great bible study

Myself

Great book, firmly rooted in scripture!

Excellent book! We cannot see ourselves rightly unless we see God correctly first, and this book is a great help on both counts! Firmly rooted in scripture, it brings out the attributes of God and how we should respond to those truths.

Much better than expected

Jen Wilkin is not usually my favorite author, but I loved this one. I have read many books about the attributes of God, and she still gave me new insights and things to think about

Wonderful book!

Phenomenal book about God’s attributes. I gave out copies to friends for Mother’s Day last year. It’s an excellent read!!!

Could hardly put it down.

Jen did a wonderful job with a consistent layout throughout and chose analogies that were easy to relate to. The build up of the text was right on target and she opened my eyes to view different aspects of our Lord through new lenses. Thank you!

Love everything I have read by Jen

Love everything I have read by Jen. Friends have met her and like her just as well in person. This is a great book, alone or with a group.

Limitless God

I've read many books over the years about the attributes of God. However, Jen Wilkin does an excellent job of teaching the attributes of God that can only belong to him, and how we try to take on those attributes. I often found myself needing to stop reading and repent.

GREAT!

Wonderful study of God. Read through once quickly, then realized there was much I really wanted to retain so I'm going through it again and making notes and really concentrating on the scripture passages.

Leads me to more excellent Praise

Although the book was recommended for Women, the men in our Zoom group were blessed by reading and discussing the book. Very easy to read, and even at age 70, I learned new ways to Praise My Precious Jesus.

Must-read for every Christian woman

Life changing study. Read Tozer’s “knowledge of the Holy” as a primer. Easy to read but overflowing with wisdom. Jen Wilkin has an incredible gift.

Thought provoking

This book makes me think. We are using it for a ladies Bible study and it has been a good way to start discussions.

Enlightening, but hard to use as a group study.

Enlightening read, although some chapters seemed like author was really digging deep for material that related to the attributes of God.

Wow! What a thought changer!

This book has given me a great awe of who God is and who I am not and how I take His role in my life instead of allowing Him to be God, the creator and I as his creation.

Excellent book

Great book

with good questions to spark prayer and meditation

On-point and engaging from start to finish, with good questions to spark prayer and meditation. Recommended.

Wonderful & Worthwhile

BEST STUDY EVER

I have been facilitating large group bible studies for a decade and this is the best bible study I have ever done. We've done Beth Moore, Jennifer Kennedy Dean, etc....and while I'm not disrespecting them, this was the most spot-on study on God I have ever read. I wish it had a video because I run a video format study. I did it with a small group in my home and we were all blown away with the content. This study will make you see yourself and all humanity with different eyes-- and magnify God at the same time. It has incredibly sound doctrine, very orthodox, not one heterodox sentence. She explains everything in a way that makes you marvel at the way she turns a phrase and then marvel at our incredible God. I wish it didn't have roses on the front because I think it limits readership--- hubby doesn't care for people seeing him read something with pretty flowers! But it would be worth it because all you need is this little book to change everything you thought about everything. From how majestic God really is to how everything we do is really an attempt to dethrone God, you will be rocked with awe and humility. After all these years helping women learn about God, I learned more about God than I ever knew and feel closer to Him than I ever have. I can't recommend this book with greater urgency. Buy it and take a week to read each chapter--- meditate on each attribute during the week. I promise God will use this study to open your eyes to the truth of His all-surpassing greatness.

Which character traits do we NOT share with God?

I loved both of Jen Wilkin's books, "None Like HIm" and "In His Image." Great books to learn more about the characteristics of God.

I highly recommend it to anyone - old or young

Jen Wilkin has done an outstanding job of gleaning truths of God's non-communicable attributes from older writers, such as the Puritans and expressing them in a succinct, readable way for today's audience and learners. I highly recommend it to anyone - old or young.

Just when you think you know so much

...along comes a book like None Like Him that takes you deeper into the knowledge of WHO God is! I highly recommend this book!!

Excellent book

Like a telescope, this books gave me an up close look at the attributes of our magnificent God. He has become greater, and I have become less. Thank you, Jenn Wilken, for this important book!

Life Changing Read

The contrast between the Creator and His creature is profound in this book. I had not realized how 'God-like' I had tried to be throughout my Christian journey. Now I know. I am His creation. Freedom!

Awesome!

Awesome transaction! Item was exactly as described! Thank you!

Study book

Great study book for our Bible Study Group.

Great book

Love how real and relatable Jen is. Many Christian living books are getting repetitive these days, but Jen speaks the truth and makes you feel like you're in a conversation with her.

God is sovereign over us

This book takes a close look at the character of God and helps you to see His sovereignty. There are questions and Bible verses to reflect on in each chapter. Beautifully written.

Awesome!

I can’t recommend this book enough. If you need God in your life, but get distracted easily, one click this book!

Great book and great service!

I just love getting new books in great shape and good content!

Amazing Book

The author sees things that seem obvious yet have never occurred to me. Great insights and spiritually life changing.

What my wife needed for her class.

I enjoy this book a lot.

Five Stars

Love it

Educational

Loved this book. It fit our women’s’ study group well.

it was a gift

bought this as a gift we haven't heard any complaints from the precipitant

Attributes of the Savior!

Great study and conversation questions! Reminds us there is none like God.

Extremely Insightful

It does not tiptoe around the issue of who God truly is and it puts in perspective who we are and our cog in the grand machine. Highly recommended!

A concise read with enough to chew on when it's over. It's one that I'll read again and again.

I absolutely love this book. I typically have a hard time reading anything other than fiction, but this book spoke to my heart about the true nature of God. I love how Jen uses language you've heard a million times in church, but presents the qualities of God in a fresh and exciting way. None Like Him is 158 pages and only 10 chapters so it's a quick enough read if you're crunched for time, but meaty enough to walk away ideas and thoughts to chew on. I love how there are Verses for Meditation, Questions for Reflection, and Prayers written at the end of each chapter/ quality of God. This could very easily be used as a book study or Bible study and provide lots of material for deep conversation. I have a relationship with Christ, but the ideas of "Knowing God" and "Understanding the nature of God" always seemed a little distant and far-off because of how mysterious he is. But the more I read this book and realized how MIGHTY and HUGE God really is, it simultaneously cast out my self-pride, but made me feel more loved and understood by God than ever before. I woke up early to read this book, and I found myself thinking about it long after I was finished with the chapter I had completed. I highly recommend this book. The only complaint I have is that it has flowers on the front cover- I can't really ask my husband to carry this around and read it. :-)
