Beautiful but terrible

Let me begin by saying Ni No Kuni is a beautiful game. It does have a bit of a childish feel to it, but that doesn't bother me & it is an absolutely wonderful game. This guide is also a beautiful guide, however.... I want to know what happened to BradyGames because their guides were MUCH better than Prima. I know BradyGames is now effectively merged with Prima as they are both now owned by the same company, but Prima's guides still suck as much as they did when I was a kid (mid-90's). I can honestly say about 1/3 of the information in this beautiful guide is inaccurate or completely incorrect. I would say a further 1/4 of it contradicts other information in the guide. Basically, buy this because it's beautiful, buy it to try to get some knowledge or advice about the game, but DO NOT trust 1/2 of what the guide says. Prima should be ashamed. I would never even need to play the game, only to read this guide to realize it's missing information & much of what it says is incorrect or inaccurate because of how much it contradicts itself. Also, there were English mistakes all over in spelling, grammar, punctuation.... They need better proofreaders, editors, & data verifiers. I could've written a better guide than this all on my own.

Fantastic, if slightly flawed, companion

The Ni No Kuni strategy guide makes a fantastic first impression. It's well-constructed, the minimalist cover is great (if prone to finger-prints), and the pages themselves are beautiful. Just like the game, color pops EVERYWHERE throughout the book and it's really just incredible to look at. Digging a little deeper, the wealth of information is simply amazing. Every familiar is covered in full detail. Every side task is covered in full detail with instructions and tips on completion. Every alchemy formula is given. Every ingredient and its locations are listed. All armor and weapons are covered. All the various areas of the game are covered in excellent detail and there is a full walkthrough of the game that will get you all the way through. In addition, there's extra artwork and interviews with the developers in the back. So why is this "flawed"? Well, there are a couple of mistakes, in particular one on a side quest that will have you chasing the wrong kind of familiar. Also, much like the game itself, the maps are a little lacking. The guides to familiars and ingredients will reference locations by name but there's no central world map that shows all the locations in one place. This is exacerbated by the game itself which will reference things by the island name rather than the city on the island and which also does not include any maps that will list more than your current location's name. While a minor quibble, these are not insignificant flaws and thus are mentioned here. Overall, though, this guide is invaluable. I have it next to me as I play and reference it constantly.

Solid Guidebook for Side Quests

This guidebook had everything I needed to get through each side quest and monster hunt. They have it set up very nicely and organized, so it's never very difficult to find what I'm looking for. My only qualms are that it was a chore to find a world map. It's in a very awkward section of the book, and had to be bookmarked for proper reference (even then, the entire map is not exactly labeled, just islands). I was expecting that to be on the first few pages, not somewhere in the middle of the book! I also had a bit of trouble getting the DLC for the familiar. I had to go through a few emails to get it sorted out, but I would hope it would be resolved by now!

A fantastic companion and a great coffee table book

As the gamers of the world grow older, from our elementary and middle school years playing SNES RPGs to today's PS3 and Xbox 360 HD RPG experiences, we look for more sophisticated and acceptable ways to showcase our hobbies. The Ni No Kuni strategy guide serves as an excellent coffee table book, sturdily bound with concept art and gorgeous screenshots throughout the guide. It could easily serve as reading material for interested guests, as such interest becomes more common throughout adults. Such quality alone should motivate purchasers, however, the game is also an excellent companion to the title. The guide includes all of the important walkthrough information, locations for alchemical formulas, and detailed familiar information. For those endeavoring to tackle the title's postgame, the statistics and accompanying images are a huge help. The Ni No Kuni strategy guide is nearly a work of art and absolutely worth picking up if found at a reasonable price.

A guide that actually helps!

I bought this because I was sick and tired of trying to find consistent and accurate information about this game online. I would find a good FAQ on one site and then have to go to another to find out about a quest and then watch a video about where exactly to find a dino character. It got way too annoying. I used this book a significant amount of time to help get 100% completion as well as the platinum trophy. A lot of times I buy a strategy guide I regret it given the wealth of information online. This book is actually useful in comparison to most strategy guides. The biggest pro of buying this book was the information regarding creatures and their transformations. It does an excellent job of breaking down what characters strengths are and what you have to do to get the strongest party possible. The game moves fast and a lot of the information was immediately lost on me. This guide helps explain things that I would have most likely ignored if playing unassisted. Can you find all of the information in this book online? Yes. Will this save you a lot of time switching tabs online and doing searches while trying to keep multiple pages up at the same time? Absolutley. I usually don't reccomend strategy guides but this one I highly reccomend. It's a great companion piece to an amazing game.

A guide that supplements an amazing game all the way through!

Ah Ni No Kuni, I loved every minute!! This is the first guide I've ever felt inclined to praise to the public. I literally completed every task leading up to the final boss. In my opinion it's a more fun way of grinding! This game guide has every task and chest along the way in your journey. It literally was my companion during my epic quest to save the world. The alchemy section is excellent as well!! If you really love digging into an RPG, and this one is one of the best I've played EVER; then you really should get this guide. It's worth every penny and really supplements the gameplay. I'll never get rid of this game or guide, they're icons of this generation of games. I can't recommend Ni No Kuni enough. Enjoy!

Excellent Source of Everything you Need to Know

There are several parts of the book that are extreamly helpful, especially to new players. It has a complete list of all familiars, what powers they receive, when they level up and how to achieve all of their ability slots. It also gives you a spoiler free walkthrough with just enough information to get you out of a tight spot but not enough to spoil the fun of the game. The lists of quests is complete and it gives you enough detail to help you when the directions from the NPC's are vague and confusing. Overall, one of the best games this year and one of the most helpful hintbooks. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted something fun to play. It is a great game for children and adults and with the hundreds of familiars possible, replay is an option so you can try different combinations of characters and familiars. You can also start battles with a different character or have the two not under your direct control do nothing, upping the difficulty of the game to rediculous levels.

Fantastic Quality

As far as guidebooks go, this one is as good as they get. High quality binding, great paper stock and well organized. RPGs can be tricky to navigate in guide books due to the organic nature of sidequests and backtracking and Ni No Kuni has a ridiculous amount of backtracking. This guide did a great job of minimizing spoilers by clearly labeling everything including helpful tips like "you can't reach that now" so you don't waste an hour trying to access something you simply can't at that time. Also, at the end of the guide was a section on interviews with the team leads and concept art. Worth the price.

Great Book

I am 95% happy with this book. The cover is a durable hardcover so it will last longer. All the pages are colorful and detailed. The only problem I have are the minor inaccuracies here and there. Some of the information in the guide is incomplete or wrong. I have only found a couple so far, so it is not anything major. Mostly it's things like, where can I find nostrum (page 330): a chest in perdida, a drop from gobspeed, a task, or from solosseum. Well you can also steal it from an ulk. There is also treats like princess chocolate that it doesn't give the formula, but is something you can make. Overall it is very useful and I'm happy with it.

Love Ni No Kuni and want more? This book gives you more. :)

The production quality of the book could be a bit better -- the cover starts bending the moment you open the shrink wrap and glance through some pages. However, the walkthrough, tips, interviews, art, usefulness, attention to detail and charm make it all worthwhile. I hope they release a full artbook some day, too! Some features I found the most helpful: Each area gets a detailed map complete with creatures, treasures, Pickpocket's Pistol Points, tasks and formulas Each errand and bounty gets its own suggestions Casino strategies Solosseum strategies Each creature's metamorphosis paths, levels when they metamorphose, stats Each creature's drops, steals and habitat Enjoy!

Astoundingly well done.

Normally I find Prima guides to be terrible. I only get them because I like the art that is usually included. But this guide is very thorough. I'm sure other reviewers have covered the fine points. But just about anything you want to know about is included in this guide. You could most certainly find it all online but one of the great things about guides like this is that you can sit there with it in your lap and quickly get the information you need without any "loading". I'm a sucker for analog experiences I suppose.

Love the game; Needed the guide!

Love the hardcover, excellent quality, you definitely get what you pay for, especially around 20 bucks, great buy. As an artist, I also bought it for the aesthetics. It's just eye candy for me at this point because I love this game so much, I wanted to have this. Wish I played with this guide from the beginning actually, would have been useful for me, maybe would even had a better experience knowing what the heck I was doing. They do a awesome job of NO SPOILERS which was a great part, which is hard to come by these days. I literally bought this a couple chapters before or around the Shadar fight, wish I had picked it up before hand. If you own the game, and you love this game; PICK IT UP!

For the wizard who needs a hand.

Are you considering playing Ni No Kuni? Do you feel as though you may miss out on almost essential information? This may be the guide you are looking for. On top of the essentials(general spoiler free walk through, familiar guide/bestiary) it also includes detailed maps with details on the various natural resources essential for some recipes. Suggested levels for dungeons and through details on how to quickly get through some of the side quests with less difficulty. Minor qualms would include having to backtrack to previous pages for locations for information on where to find specific items and a lack of strategy on handling party AI. Something essential during a few boss battles. Some of the interviews included in the back of the book are a spectacular look into the production of the game.

The book has a beautiful matte white hardcover

Book arrived on time, but with a slight nudge on lower cover. If you own Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, this is a delightful companion to an already superb RPG experience. The book has a beautiful matte white hardcover, with great color illustrations and even interviews with the origina developers at Bandai. It's also quite chunky. You'll be glossing this book for a long time, just for the sheer amount of amazing artwork included. A must have.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch: Prima Official Game Guide

I purchased the Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch: Prima Official Game Guide at the same time that I purchased the Video Game. I Love the Game and find that the guide book is well done and is very helpful in finding items and people to talk with that are needed to allow the game play to continue. There are some areas in the game that I need a little extra bit of info in order to keep the game play moving and I find this guide to be a great help. This is a Great Guide for a Great Video Game.

Great companion to an amazing game

This book is stellar. I am not well versed in the standard gameplay of RPG's as I have only played a few in the last 20 years. So for people who have played a lot of RPG's and are familiar with the ins and outs of the game mechanics, this may not prove too useful. As players guides seem to be more collectibles now than anything, that was the second big reason I wanted to get this. I ordered the Wizard Edition of this game when it was again up for Pre-Order on January 17th and that was mainly to get the Wizard's Companion hardcopy book, which is full of complete listings of Familiars, spells and has a bestiary, something this guide doesn't really have. This guide by Prima, I wanted for when I am getting my ass handed to me in boss battles, or lost in the woods or am not quite sure where I need to backtrack to next. I like that this book is spoiler free, I love the full colored pictures and the textured hardcover, this has great binding. There is also a decent amount of interviews and concept art which is great for a look into making this epic game. I really kind of just wanted everything collectible for this game, whether or not this will come in handy really depends on what kind of a player you are and your skill level. If you just want to collect something quality and pretty and Ni No Kuni related, this is a great thing to get.

Unexpectedly amazing!

Basically this is one of the perks you missed out on when NIS dropped the ball on the Wizard Edition pre-orders. Other reviewers commented on damage to the book, but I suspect those might be from 3rd party sellers or from one of the earlier Amazon.com shipments. My copy arrived in shrink wrap with not a mark or smudge on it. I almost didn't remove the plastic it looked so good! The cover is white, so expect it to get dirty with use. You also get a code for a bonus download for a pet creature. Be careful with used versions if you want the pet, many used copies will have previously used codes. This is more of a collector's book than strategy guide. Sure there are lists of quests and enemies and goings on, but many of these things are covered in the game itself in the journal, though it is hard to read and navigate in game. There is a lot of content in this book and it goes well beyond the 'strategy guide' aspect. I applaud Brady for lately releasing strategy guides of this sort. Players can find so much information easily online that strategy guides without extra content would be going extinct. But with the additional interviews, artwork, and production sketches, these texts make an amazing item for fans of the games and collector's alike. If you want a bare bones strategy guide to mark in and flip through roughly, perhaps this isn't quite what you want. Print a few pages from an online source instead (though it still has good - spoiler free - strategy guide content). But if you are like me, and love a game and want to know more about the production, then this is for you. I highly recommend it to fans of the game.

This was a great game. It took me almost forever to beat it, but I did it. The movie clips were like watching a real movie. The ending was good, and the lesson about life was really important to know and learn.

Great companion to the game

I played through Ni No Kuni and although I didn't refer to this guide (for the most part) while playing because I like to figure things out on my own, it is going to help a lot now that I am working my way towards getting the platinum. It has a ton of information and is very well constructed. My only complaint would be if some of the sections were laid out a little better. I found it hard some times to find exactly what I was looking for but that is just a minor inconvenience.

Awesome Guide

Everyone has already pretty much said it, but this a great game guide. It helped me out a lot throughout the game. The book itself is great quality and is totally worth the price. The pictures are detailed and colorful. There is so much content packed in this book. I agree with others that I would have preferred one giant map, instead of the map being separated in chapters. I am sure some online game guides would have even more information and some less mistakes. But overall, this is probably one of the best printed game guides ever published.

very comprehensive guide

I typically don't pony up this much loot on guides (even with the sale price) but it was really a Hobson's choice. For what it's worth, the book didn't fall apart since I typically leaf through the pages with reckless abandon (my FF 13 guide fell apart by the time I was done with the game and when my buddy borrowed it, he probably spent more time trying to piece back the guide in page order than playing the game).

A necessity with Ni No Kuni

Maybe not the best strategy guide in the world, but it works! I couldn't imagine playing the game without it. It makes finding secret treasures and knowing which creatures to get so much easier.

Excellent

It was very helpful

Great condition, came on time

The condition of the book was great, so was the price

Quintessential companion to the game

This book is definitely a must-own. It's the first time I've bought a strategy guide and I must say I'm blown away by the quality and attention to detail. The texture of the book is really nice, and even the title is neatly embossed onto the cover. The guide covers everything you need - a complete Familiar listing, dungeon maps, hidden treasure locations, boss strategies etc. The bonus interviews are an excellent touch to an already great buy. Well worth it!

A beautiful and useful book

This guide is a must-have for anyone playing this game. It is incredibly useful, and I would be lost without it.

Gorgeous strategy guide. An excellent addition to my collection of nerd-items and a wonderful companion to the game itself. In my opinion, a must-have for secret items and quick monster references!

Fantastic Guide. This is how you do it Prima!

I'm usually dissapointed in Prima guides, but this is really a high quality guide for a surprisingly low price. This feels like one of the collector type guides you can usually purchase. As for what's inside, it's got maps, detailed descriptions of familiars and even comes with a pretty good gold hurly familiar! If you love Ni No Kuni, buy this guide. It will save you a lot of heartache of spending loads of time developing a familiar team only to find out it doesn't fit your play style.

Very nice guide

I'm a bit of a sucker for game guides when it comes to expansive games, especially ones where I like the art and am happy to have a book that caters to people like me. This is one of the better guides I've purchased overall, especially with the "bonus" content at the end in the form of interviews with the crew behind the game, as well as a section just to showcase some of the art. The binding and paper quality are excellent, as well. If you like well-produced game guides and are interested in one for Ni No Kuni, I definitely recommend this specific edition.

Best Strategy Guide I've Ever Seen

I purchased the Hardcover guide from Amazon a few weeks ago. It had been out of stock, as apparently there was a shortage in printing of these guide books-- I checked the site daily until they finally had more. There was some delay in its shipping, which Amazon made clear during checkout. After a week I received the guide. It's awesome! I've never seen a guide with such a high quality binding, great artwork and quality paper stock. The walkthrough has been good so far; the guide has specs and pictures of all the familiars, items, monsters, and characters. There are also maps in each section of the walkthrough. Pretty much everything you could ask for in a guide book. The only flaws I see are 1) the font is a bit small, but that is a testament to the vast amount of content this book has and 2) yeah, you can perhaps more easily find free walkthroughs on the web but that's a given these days. This is not only a great guide but a piece of art and fantastic reference for Ni No Kuni. Kudos to Prima, I am highly impressed!

The guide is very sturdy though, and looks great on a bookshelf

Another solid strategy guide that I haven't read/used much yet. Blame Skyrim and Pokemon. The guide is very sturdy though, and looks great on a bookshelf. And I know that it will be there when I go back to this game. :-)

Amazing Game; Amazing-er Book

Amazing-er should be a word and this book should have its picture next to it in the dictionary. The art is fantastic; the cover is a soft leathery white that looks great. Plus it tells you all about the amazing game Ni No Kuni... So why wouldn't you want this!?!

Great asset.

This is REALLY important to have, I mean you could probably get this info on the internet but I'm really glad I had the book because it lays it all out so well. The game can actually be pretty tricky at times and this saved it (IMO) from being almost un-enjoyable.

Ni No Kuni hard cover guide book

Because of the hard cover, I find it a little harder to use than a soft cover version. There is still so much data involved with this game that I feel the book makes it somewhat more difficult to find out information than some other soft cover versions of game guides I have. The game itself presents a problem with finding out the places for the items in the "recipes", and the book is not much help. Overall the book is beautiful but I find it a bit cumbersome to use.

Beautifully printed

This is not just a game guide, it's an art book! If you love not just the gameplay aspect of Ni No Kuni, but also a fan of the art work. I would highly recommend this. In terms of the content, it's very well organized. It's easy to find everything you need to play this game, very helpful!

Just feeling the exterior of this book is fantastic. The guide itself is pretty great too

Just feeling the exterior of this book is fantastic. The guide itself is pretty great too. Extensive and it even has different ways on how the same things are organized in multiple sections of the book.

Great Guide!

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch as a game is a huge undertaking with the potential play time of over 24 hours. Now a game that long is going to need a guide to not only keep up with it, but provide you with all the little hints and tips you could ever need. This guide does all that and more. In addition to a complete list of familiars (the monsters you tame within the game), it presents in depth analysis of all foods (for stat bonuses), techniques, characters, enemies (including detailed boss walk throughs and a quick status presentation listed in the back), and side quests (not only how to accomplish them, but the best way of going about it). In addition the guide had a list of interviews with the developers and artwork from the game itself including unused material! The only down side I can find to the guide (and this is more of me being a perfectionist than anything) is the lack of what familiar likes to eat what. Other than that no complaints at all. If your going to get a guide for Ni No Kuni then this is the one. It's beautiful, it has everything a fan could have and more, in fact I wish more strategy guides had as much care and effort as this one. It's not just a copy you'll pick up for a game, it's one you can enjoy if simply for the design. Not to mention a nifty little downloadable familiar for those who decide to purchase a copy!

... appears to be a game that younger gamers would enjoy but it is great fun even for adults

This appears to be a game that younger gamers would enjoy but it is great fun even for adults. The guide is hardback, with excellent maps, and pictures that can help any gamer get the most out of this game. Enjjoy.

Great Game, Great Guide

Great Game and Great Guide. Thank you. Good on Shipping too.

Glad I got this

The book was a little pricey, but when I got it, it was bound so nicely, and gave me so much information. I couldn't possibly play this game without using it as a reference. And what a sweet little game!!

Love it

This is a great book! Very high quality and beautifully done. It's hard to find books of this quality no-a-day. The guide is great and has everything you would want to know about the game. Get it! It will make your playing experience much better and also makes a great collectors piece.

Beautiful Guide

A beautiful guide with lots of pictures. I did not use it much, for I like to play the game on my own; however, I was forced to see certain parts of the game in this guide whenever I had trouble pushing ahead with the story in this game.

Truly AmAzInG AID

Help in any way you can think of plus a list of not only ALL the imagines plus their multiple transformations/metamorphosis and stats to see which one is the BETTER or more Rare (impossible to catch) final form. Big help with those hard to complete bounties & mission because this thing has them all step by step :)) Highly recommended getting this Gorgeous game & book along with it if you wanna relive part of your childhood, but have the full knowledge of an adult 5 Stars ALL THE WAY!!!

Four Stars

minus the wear book was still in good condition (a few stains and corners frizzed) and is holding strong

Five Stars

this is one of the best walkthroughs I have ever had. thank you.

Amazing Book

OMG, this book is incredible! The quality of the paper, and everything else is amazing, never bought an edition like this, just love it, and made me want more... This is a very complete guide! A must have to anyone that enjoy the game. Thank you Prima and Amazon to make this happen! Cheers from a brazilian gamer! Best regards to you all

Five Stars

Son used it frequently and loves to read about the game. Took it to college with him.

Will keep it for life

This book is easy to navigate and definitely will help you get 100% completion. Everything is in the right order and you would never miss anything. The only downside of this guide is that, you wont find Griffy familiar entry.

Useful and beautiful

This game guide beautifully done, nice colorful indexes of the items and critters. Helpful maps and an easy to find format. Also the golden ticket for the critter was a nice addition as he's part of my party now:-)

Great Game Guide

Shows the walkthrough from the very beginning to the very end and I really didn't have to go online to read a FAQ for this title. Highly, recommended!!!

This guide is great! I'm talking pure aesthetics here. The hard cover binding has a grippy texture that feels much better than a normal book. Each page is filled with great content and color. This book is about an inch and a half thick, so you do get a lot of content. I haven't had a chance to go through the entire guide as I just started playing the game, but I can see, by the amount of detail put into it, that is going to be just fine. I'm totally judging a book by its cover.

GET THIS IF YOU ARE PICKING UP THE GAME..

I highly recommend getting this if you are purchasing the game. If you are like me and don't have a whole lot of time to devote to gaming as you used to getting this will really save you a lot of time. Plus its not just a guide it has interviews and artworks to accompany it with. I'm real happy I got it.

Great guide

Very good guide pretty concept art plus it's very helpful

Excellent Book!

This guide is clear and concise. It is much easier to review maps and quests using a book rather then going to the computer to search. Great guide! Wonderfully put together!

Stunning.

Guide is beautiful, high quality durable pages and a hardcover back. While I initially only ordered it for the Golden Hurley DLC, I am getting the sense this guide is gonna come in handy my my 100% playthrough. Plus I got it for half off, how can you beat that?!

Good, but...

It's a quality game guide, but there are parts where the recommended steps aren't placed in the best order. The beginning of the guide leaves out a few important tips about the game, but it does catch up later in the guide.

Gotta love me some Ni No Kuni

Gotta love me some Ni No Kuni!! Great guide for a great game!! Highly recommended for any jrpg fan :D

A great guide

This was one of the most riveting games Ive ever played and the guide helped me 100% complete it after i had already beaten the story twice before even buying the guide.

Fantastic book with beautiful art and very comprehensive guide

Fantastic book with beautiful art and very comprehensive guide. My copy was second hand with a little wear and tear, but I'm very pleased with this product!

If you're a gamer its great book.

Daughter is going to love this book for her game. High quality hard cover and very sturdy construction. Well worth the price I think

Great guide. Perfect, even.

I used this guide as my companion as I played through the game and got everything. There were one or two typos when detailing the hidden treasures, but all of the locations were accurate. One slight complaint is that the strategies for the Solosseum leave a lot to be desired... especially when comparing to the boss battles during the main game.

Very good quality guide.

They put together a lot of information here and made it extremely usable for the average person. The game is great and this guide makes it even better.

A must have guide

it tells all ,you must have this to play game and win. everything is there with pictures . The hardback is great. and the price just great. DON'T wait get it now.

Great Game

The ultimate guide, and it comes with a code for a super powerful familiar. I would recommend to any age.

High Quality Product

Beautiful, glossy pages. Nice hardbook cover. Very in depth. Taught me how to beat the bosses and broke down all of their attacks. It's worth every penny. A beautiful collector's item. The familiar you get with it is pretty awesome.

Five Stars

Great book to accompany the game. full color pages and hardcover make it enjoyable to use.

Good quality Guide

Its was nice, actually was structured well and went with the game as you progressed. Highly recommend it for any one playing the rpg.

Great Strategy Guide

I love this strategy guide; it's one of the nicest ones I've ever bought. It's easy to follow and the extras in the back are a nice addition.

Your very own wizards companion

Ni no Kuni is amazing and this guide book is very helpful. I have mostly used it as a reference for familiars and help with hunts or jobs. Definitely worth getting

Some what of a good guide.

It's a good strategy guide, but these guys don't know their east from their west. I had to look at the maps every single time to confirm the information. Everything else was very detailed and easy to read.

Great Guide

This guide showed me everything I needed for the completion of this game. The only thing that wasn't there was something that Amazon promised and that was care instructions for the cover of the guide, because it kind of needs it. Its a very quality guide.

Wonderful buy @ $25

Great guide, really long and thorough. Awesome art and interview section in back. Only complaint is the cover. It's white and has a marshmallowy texture that gets dirty really easy. Had to 6th grade it with some packaging paper.

Five Stars

Arrived in almost perfect condition!

It keeps me in a good mood.

Without getting into too much detail about the gameplay mechanics, or plot, or characters or anything (As many have already done so for this game), I just wanted to say that I play this game when I'm feeling good. It's great for maintaining a good, upbeat, even whimsical mood. If a game can make me happy, then it has done its job right!

Ni no Kuni Guide

This is a very useful guide, showing the level caps for every familiar in the game and showing and telling you where all the hidden items are.

Five Stars

Very good in depth strategy guide.

Informative

This game guide is packed full of information about all of the familiars in the game, with very detailed descriptions.

Good Quality

This book is big but of a wonderful quality. I love the feel of the cover and all of the information included in it.

Perfect!

Very pleased with the condition of this book. Can't wait to use it!

Fun Game

My wife loves this game. It plays on the PS3.

Masterpiece

I dunno if guide is worth more than 40$+ but i got it from the amazon for 20$ for 20 $ this is one of the best quality guides with tons of contents, art works and exclusive DLC. Simply Great guide for great game

Five Stars

Five Stars

Great guide

great guide, great art work, the extra dlc was nice, the character was helpful. Great guide for replay value, thanks

For an Unfamiliar world...this guide is a must!

From Hidden Treasures, to Familiar growth charts - this guide has it all. This game is shaping out to be a masterpiece, and this guide is surely to help beating this game in its entirety. It looks incredible, is sturdy in both binding and pages, and can't complain about the Golden Hurley included with pre-order. I'm loving Ni No Kuni, and this guide is all part of the pie! Snag it if you can! -Dave

but I've seen better.

It's a guide book, written well, but I've seen better.

Wonderful

This came in very useful for doing side quests. From what I have seen, the descriptions are very accurate and detailed which is nice for finding the hidden treasures in each area.

Great Game Guide

Easy to understand. Had no trouble figuring out how to make creatures stronger and which form to take for later levels.

absolutely amazing

extremely helpful has excellent information and it even arrived early for me and the golden hurley dlc is very much appreciated

Great Strategy Guide

For collectors and those looking to finish everything that is available in this game this is a must have guide.

Five Stars

Amazing game, amazing art book. I still pull it out sometimes and look at the drawings.

Great guide

It has been so helpful in playing the game. There are parts of the game where I needed the help it gave

Great Guide

This is for fans of the game and comes with some DLC so great for collectors as well. Also have some behind the scenes on how they made the game and art. Buy it it is worth it.

If you did not get the Collector's Edition

This contains a more detailed monster encyclopedia than the Wizard's Companion and even some art pages at the end. I basically got it because I wanted some physical analogy to a pokedex for familiars.

Great guide for true fans

Good guide! Unfortunately the game kind of walks you through itself. Like I said the guide itself it a good companion for the game but there are literally no parts in the game that require you to think. :[

Guide book

Guide book had everything you could need to finish game. All the tasks and bounty hunts tips are outlined along with all the after game play.

Good physical quality, some errors

This guide overall is quite good. It's a hardcover which gives it a very nice and presentable look, while the pages themselves are also thick and rich in color. High quality all around in the physical construction of this guide. The information presented in the guide is done in a logical way, and some of the small touches really made me appreciate it all the more. For example, having a small legend on each page telling you what some of the symbols mean so you don't have to flip back to the start of the chapter. Another plus is an alphabetical index of the familiars you can capture, much easier to find what you are looking for than going by the number assigned to them in the game itself. Sidequests (called tasks) have their own chapter, but in addition to that they are included in the text of the main walkthrough so you'll never have the problem of trying to determine when things are available by flipping between both sections constantly. There is even a nice art section in the back with interviews with the developers. That's a nice plus that isn't included in a lot of guides. The familiar DLC that came with the guide was a bit of a pain to redeem. Prima had some hiccups on their end at release, but that should be ironed out by now. The key is to use the URL given with the book, even though on the Prima website they have a section for redeeming codes. You can't use their main site, you have to use the URL included with the book. Once you redeem the code there ... you get yet another code to use on the PSN store to actually get the DLC. Even though there is a lot to like with this guide, I have come across numerous errors in the text (things like telling you Northwest when really it is Northeast for example). They are for the most part minor, but it can throw you for a loop sometimes. Some errors are understandable in a game this size, but there were more than I would call normal and of course probably several more that I just didn't notice (I tend to only use the maps rather than read the walkthrough itself).

Was almost as good as cheddar

The guide is riddled with typos. Lacks some key information that would have been handy. However, the parts that really count are well written and filled with good information. The interviews and artwork sections at the end are fantastic additions to the guide.

Perfect.

Book came faster than expected and contained everything needed and more. Couldn't think of a better way to make this book.

Five Stars

Arrived as promised and in good condition. 👍

Exactly what I expected

Great guide in every way. Getting the code for the PSN DLC to work was a pain, but the guide is amazing.

Prima Guides Rock

Very detailed. Contains walkthroughs, maps, lists of where all the items can be found etc. If you ever find yourself stuck, this guide will get you out

Premium quality strategy guide

The cover, paper stock, and color are very high quality. Most importantly it's very informative and a great supplement to the game.

A guides guide

It guided me through ni no kuni with great success. It helped me feel acconplishe in a virtual wonderland. Booya was achieved. 5/5 would strategize again.

Very thorough

Pretty awesome guide. Explained everything I was needing. Maps were also very thorough as well as how to upgrade your "minions".

Perfect Guide

If you need/want a guide for Ni No Kuni - get this one!! My Daughter and I used the guide for a no hassle fun run through the game.

Very good guide!!!

This guide is really good. It organized real well and the hard cover is a nice touch! Definitely recommend for this epic game!!!

Amazing!

This is one of my first strategy guide purchases and I just love the way it looks, feels, and it's content.

The help you didn't know you needed.

Detailed and well written. Helpful screenshots and boss battle strategies. Full list of familiars and enemies with complete statistics. FIVE STARS.

tidy!

Very nice hardcover guide, a collector's choice. The only guide which is better looking is FFXII collector's edition! You won't regret your purchase!

great item

i love the book guide it came in perfect conditions and was all ive expect and more it came with alla the info of the game

Great guide

This is an excellent game guide and I would recommend it to everyone who is playing Ni No Kuni beacuse you will get most of your game with this.

Great

Has all the side quest and maps and uses full tips for fighting the boss fights. . . . .

Four Stars

Thanks

Good!!!

Good article, to know more about the world of Ni no kuni. Its a very complete book and the quality is here.

Great Product

For this game you really need the guide. It is very helpful and is has everything you need to enjoy every aspect of Ni No Kuni.

Very Good!

Nice... I love it! The book is awesome and very neat! i love Ni No Kuni and for you that play Ni No Kuni must buy this book.

Fun Game

Lots to do in this game. Took awhile to get used to the controls but once done it was great. Loved the characters.

A perfect guide for a perfect game

Just what is needed to enjoy the game even more. Good maps an dexplenations but no spoilers. What do you want more.

Ni NI Kuni

It is a very good guide book for the game. Lots of details and information to help within the game

Great

Great book, good material. Have anything u need to know about the game! In addition, come with a dlc familiar! Really nice!

Perfect

I love this book, the images are beautiful, e very helpfull. The familiar list is complete. Realy the prime guide is very cool.

This guide was well worth the $20.

I have bought guides for video games for over a decade, and usually in the 10-19 range, but this one well this was well worth the $20. Pros: - First of all this guide unlike many in the video game world is actually Hardcover! - There is actually 30 pages of content in the book of developer interviews complete with there face pics, and even art concept content. Most guides do not include any of this so automatically this puts this guide past the usual guides in this price range (I pre-ordered Jan 21st for 23.99 but amazon lowered the price to 21.00( and actually refunded the difference) - The paper pages are not cheap, they are actually thick and contain good colors and fonts. - The actual guide has a spoiler free walk-through with images of maps, etc, even lists of Familiars that are catch-able ingame with some stats on each one. - To top it off this guide even comes with a separate page that has the exclusive Gold Hurly Familiar DLC code for redemption. Cons: None really considering the only thing to make this guide more useful would be all the pages from the Wizard Edition book included, but that would just make this book too big and too heavy and way too price-cost effective (for 20$ this guide cannot be beat)

Way Exceeded My Expectations!

I have never in my life bought a new release game, especially not preorder, but I love Studio Ghibli and JRPGs, so Ni No Kuni really caught my eye. I decided to buy the guide with the game because I wanted to have info on all the familiars. Honestly, I didn't read the product description because game guides seem to be pretty standard, but wow I was really impressed with what showed up on my door. I saw that other places are selling this book for full price ($40), and it would have been worth every penny If I had paid that, but even better that Amazon has it for much cheaper! This guide is hard covered, with high quality pages and printing. The pages aren't glossy but aren't really matte either, and they're nice and heavy. As a nice little bonus, there is a section on the game creation including concept art in the back, so beautiful! As far as quality, this is definitely a collectors item. As far as content, I haven't gotten very far into the game yet, about 10 hours of gameplay, but I really like the way the content is ordered and no spoilers. The first section teaches you basics of the game, which I find myself going back to every now and then when something happens that I don't understand (like the familiar signs). The second section is a reference for familiars, ordered by type, but with an alphabetical index in the front. I haven't used this much yet, but it seems very complete in terms of information. Next comes the actual walkthrough. I really like the balance that this section has found between showing you everything available in the area you're in, but not going into detail about the things that you can't access yet. There are tons of pictures and detailed descriptions. I like that the guide is impartial towards any given path, unlike homemade FAQs that tell you which choices to make. Section 4 gives detailed descriptions of all the tasks and bounty hunts, although smaller descriptions are given in Section 3 as well. Last comes the Appendix which describes in detail enemies, weapons, items, and trophies. Overall, I am incredibly pleased with this guide and the game. If you're on the fence, I say go for it! I bet in a few years it will be out of print and people will pay big bucks for it on ebay because the quality is just so phenomenal.

Really good quality book.

Purchased this for about $25. The book is really good quality and the compendium of monsters to collect is indepth along with the skills they learn. Really reminds me of when I bought a pokemon guide book back in the day. Makes a good collector's item as well. =]

Extremely useful book to go along with a great game

When you're training up your familiars in battle, this book is a must! When they start branching out, the choices become difficult without any knowledge of stats and this book provides just that. I would say it's a must have whether you're grinding or looking for a specific item.

Buy it.

this is a must own if you bought the game, it pretty much has everything you would have questions about. but, if you only plan to get the DLC, i wouldn't buy the guide for that reason alone. sorry i know this isn't much info im giving. many others have pretty much explained all you want to know. i just want to support the game and recommend to all.

Great Game, Great Guide except...

Con: There are maps of areas in guide, but I was disappointed there was no 2 page fully labeled World Map or insert. That would have been nice. Instead I was stuck going online. I also wish there was a keyword index like Final Fantasy guides usually have.

Beautiful book

I don't usually leave feedback, but just want to recommend this book and the game. The book is beautiful from the cover (bonus for the hard cover) to the art work. Well worth the $20 if you want to get the most out of the game. Also didn't realize you get a dlc familiar which was great!

Great Deal

I got this at the last minute. Gamestop had it for 40 bucks, but it was almost half the price on Amazon. Its a good read and reading about the familiars takes me back to my pokemon days. Awesome

What a nice cover

Very rarely do you get a hardcover white covered game guide book. I bet you can't even name one white one. Maybe cuz its a pun on the WHITE witch? LOL bit lame on the publisher's part, but good idea haha 4 stars for you!

Good

Just a little bit of damage at the corner or the book went received. Other then that. It is OK.

Good Walkthrough

If you are like me, and mainly buy guidebooks for maps, this is a bit of a letdown. The world maps (and treasure point locations) are exceedingly tiny. I have great eyes and never have needed glasses - but the pictures and print are so tiny that I needed a flashlight and handlens to pinpoint exact locations. The walkthrough was pretty good - there is just enough hand holding to get you through whatever you need help with. The extra info is spot on. The book is pretty and has a nice hard cover. You'll need a bookmark to hold your place, as it tends to want to close or change pages often.

pretty good

It was a pretty good game. Not as good as I was hoping. Some of the boss fights were extremely difficult. I love the art of the game.

Its a Prima Guide so...

I admit that I bought this guide at GameStop way back when the game came out, and a huge chunk of the reason I bought it was because of the free familiar. Unfortuately both the guide and familiar were letdowns. The guide does have useful information that isn't immediately apparent in-game such as familiar abilities, stats and growth types. It has good maps that point out treasure and gathering locations, as well as quest info and some generally good tips on dealing with bosses and tricky enemies. The major let down is the fact that there are some areas, particularly concerning familiars, that are huge letdowns. I run into at least one major inaccuracy every dozen or so pages, ranging form listing the wrong item in chests to outright telling the OPPOSITE of what you are supposed to do to clear a quest. The familiar sections are split, with one section giving you a decent rundown of how familars will grow and the other acting as a bestiary. Unfortunately, the familiar growth section completely omits some very helpful details such as what signs a familiar may have and it doesn't even mention the fact that only certain gems can be used to teach tricks and that they vary between familiars. The bestiary section isn't even complete as it omits several creatures. The big point of this review: If you are considering getting this guide after all these years, don't bother unless you want the maps. You can find everything you want in here online and it's likely to be more accurate too. There's even an interactive map out there with all the overworld treasures and gathering points too.

This is a great collector's guide version and I recommend it for anyone ...

This is a great collector's guide version and I recommend it for anyone that likes to spend the extra money for them. Having a guide for this amazing game is not needed but will severely help you as you continue on your journey. This guide provides the basics, however it does include a lot of the concept art which I found interesting, as well as interviews with the developers on the story and how they felt. There is even a code to get an extra familiar. Now, if you just want to get this guide for knowing which familiars to level up and whatnot, then you are better off browsing the internet. Information on the familiars in this guide seemed to be limited and not as much as I would have liked it to contain. Overall, worth the money if you are going to be using it to play the game and explore everything it has to offer.

Really...it's only for collectors

The guide is very pretty and it will definitely get you through the game. That being said if you want extras and are looking to find them easily in this guide you will be disappointed. Say you want a certain familiar, well it will tell you the name of the location but just knowing the name doesn't tell you where that is. Really the downfall of the guide is that there is no maps section and that all the maps are only in there particular chapters in the walkthrough portion. The guide is definitely a collector's item but the internet would serve you much better than this for information. All the info is there it just isn't easy to access. There are also a few mess ups. Some of the alchemy ingredients are incorrect. I'm not disappointed but only because this is one of my favorite games. Buy the guide only if you want a pretty collector's item. Otherwise go to the internet.

to much for the price

this is a perfect complement to the game, is detailed, perfect quality and beatifull, a must buy for the buyers of the game, and to me cost much more than 23 dollars

Got this with my collectors edition on release date! ...

Got this with my collectors edition on release date! Didn't exactly need the guide but was worth having the hard cover with the collectors edition game! :D

Very pleased

Very comprehensive guide, beautifully bound, provides any information you could possibly need. Nearly indispensable for a game this huge. Well worth the price.

Fantastic

guide hardcover beautiful, easy access to internal content, easy understanding and simple language, finally no downside in my opinion! a great guide with all necessary information about the game!

Awesome!

Really informative without spoiling anything. Also, great for collector purposes! Would highly recommend to anyone, be you a collector or needing help getting 100% game completion!

Best game guide ever made

I bought game and guide together. Covers every expect of game. Colorful pages and detailed familiars abilities are amazing. Very helpful companion for game. Must have.

Ni no kuni

Great price for a hardcover version of the guide. Is very detailed about the familiars in the game. Even has concept art in the back of the book.

Ni no kuni

Best JRPG I've ever played, amazing graphics, great story, unforgettable characters, a must play for all ages. Can't wait for the sequel.

Great guide! Dont buy for 50+ dollars

It's a good guide, but why the hell would people sell this guide for $50 + dollars when Gamestop sell it for 39.99 all day?

Best Game Guide for Ni No Kuni!

I love this book! It looks amazing and has great details with helping you for the game. If you need a game guide for Ni No Kuni, look no further. This guide had everything you need even for collection purposes! Very pleased with the quality of this item!

Very helpful guide, but it could have been more accurate if it addressed the games technical flaws (esp. AI)

As many people have said, this is a very nice-looking, informative guide. I certainly found it very helpful while playing Ni No Kuni... and I played it A LOT! The reason why I'm giving it four stars instead of five -- and indeed, the reason for this short "review" -- is because of my main gripe with it, which is that it's a guide for an "ideal" version of the game, by which I mean that some of the advice is inaccurate or incomplete because it's based on how the game mechanics are *supposed* to work instead of how they actually do. So I'm going to moan a little about that instead. :) The two biggest examples that spring to mind: 1) As anyone who has played the game for a while knows, the AI for teammates is surprisingly broken, especially given the level of attention and polish devoted to the rest of the game, and the fact that the AI teammates are crucial to the battle system at the core of the game (and as such their AI deficiencies are glaringly apparent). The guide, however, doesn't even acknowledge this, though surely the people who wrote it must've played the game. It does talk about the AI tactics, but with the assumption that they're all working as they should. (In reality, the AI-controlled characters will squander their MP as though they're secretly competing in some kind of MP-squandering race, healing every tiny injury and using needlessly-powerful attacks until they've got nothing left, leaving them cripped for the remainder of the battle and subsequent battles unless you waste restorative items on them.) It would've been better if it had described these flaws and detailed workarounds; instead, I had to turn to the Internet for help with these issues. 2) The casino is an easy place to get rich quick, especially when playing the card game, "Platoon", because the AI strategy can be exploited if you know some straightforward rules about how it behaves. The casino section of the guide, of course, simply describes the various casino games and how to play them, offering advice that's out-of-touch with how the games *actually* work. In the end, I ended up learning far more about the real game mechanics by using a free guide on gamefaqs. These types of issues sometimes made the guide feel less in-depth than it should have been, sometimes feeling like a fancy game manual. Some people may think these complaints unfair, but if you've used guides by the likes of, say, Piggyback, you'll know that many would actually offer help (and "guide") the user in these areas. Case in point: the Piggyback guide for Dragon Quest 8 *does* explain how to exploit flaws in that game's casino AI. :) Ultimately, a guide is meant to help you play the actual game you bought -- flaws and all -- and not some fictional, marketing version of the game. It's still a very useful guide, with lots of useful information in it, but it could have been even better.

Excellent guide, helped me to platinum.

this guide book helped me platinum this truly awesome game, that alone i just want to give 5 stars already. With this book I could learn about the lore of the world of ni no kuni, and know all it's secrets. The book makes me love the game even more and makes me appreciate the hard work gone into making this game so much more. If i had one issue with the book itself however, the material used for the book cover feels a bit strange and it gets the book quite dirty really quickly, especially if you're are using it quite often. That dry matte look feels really nice the first day, but after a month using it, it gets a bit sticky and dirty if not looked after carefully. That's probably my fault, so be very careful and kind to yours :)

It's Proper Tidy Mun

I don't often recommend game guides, but when I do it's for this. Those mountains of stats and hidden collectibles tucked away under every nook and cranny can be frustrating to say the least, but this guide helped make things a lot easier and is a must have for anyone looking to get the most out of this game. It chronicles all of the familiars in immense detail; from their location, all the skills they will eventually learn to what each individual creatures' stats will be when it's fully levelled up. A great guide for someone like myself who wants to compare and contrast each familiar and see which is best for a certain situation (a physically strong creature, a tank, a powerful mage etc.) and bundles it all together in a pretty and practical manner. It also charts the location of every collectible weapon, armour and item in the world in an easy to follow guide with maps along with gorgeous artwork and a spoiler-free walk through guide, should you have need of it. Helped me get the platinum trophy, highly recommended.

really great!!

i ordered the item on Monday and got it on that Friday ( it was supposed to be at least a week) so i am very pleased with the quick order. so far the book has beaten all my previous expectations as this HUGE guide is well worth the money. it has a simple easy layout with enough information to help you on your way but not spoil the games storyline. the extra part at the end of the book gives you a interview with a few creators of Ni No Kuni which i found was a delightful bonus as i am a massive fan of studio Ghibli and so loved the detail of the artwork. i cannot wait to actually play the game :D

Ni no Kuni game guide

A very helpful book - detailed charts for all Familiars, information on all spells, puzzle solutions, boss strategies and much much more - yet a spoiler free walkthrough so you can enjoy the story! A highly recommended buy so you can get the most out of the game. However keep in mind that the information on the DLC Gold Hurly familiar that comes with the guide is only available on the US Playstation Network Store, but it's available to download for free in Europe - so don't register with the code provided!

Awesome if you need a bit of help

Awesome and very detailed guild shoes you were all the items are and how to do side quest overall awesome highly recommend if you need a bit of help in the game.

Game Guide

Brilliant book and guide. I was exspecting a paperback version but this turned out to be hardback which is even better. The artworks, guide, and walkthroughs are just what I was looking for. Many thanks from a very satisfied customer

Awesome

The book is a beautiful hardback edition which also came with a free download for a golden hurley. the guide itself is very detailed and had expansive maps and treasure locations boss guides and more. The guide also has a complete list of all tamable monsters and where to find them and what their favourite food is. This book is great companion to a beautiful game.

Very good thanks.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch: Prima Official Game Guide

What a neat JRPG and a great book....this is special! So, its an absolute excellent complement to the game. this is cool.

Ni no kuni bible!

This guide is an excellent companion to the game. Everything you need to know is in the book. It has a great list of all the familiars.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch: Prima Official Game Guide

Great well-bound guide, very helpful especially for the post game. The guide also contains numerous artwork and developer comments. A guide for collectors.

kuni do it
