This is a remarkable, exotic story of true love! Our family shared a season of life with John and Jeanne (including the baptism of one of my daughters in a swimming pool!), and we had the privilege of hearing this story in person years before we bought the book. Their steadfast commitment to each other while living in some of the most challenging circumstances imaginable is a testimony of God’s grace and providence, and they continue to deeply love and serve thousands of people around the world!

I finished the book this week and thoroughly enjoyed every page of it! It is indeed a unique and compelling missionary autobiography . Intertwined in the narrative is the description of God’s great love for the nations, particularly the people of Afghanistan, the love two people have first for their God, and for the people He has called them to serve. The Christ-follower will be both comforted and challenged by examples of God’s provision in response to prayer. A must read as far as I am concerned!

A sweet love story and whirlwind romance, with great underlying depth, pointing to Christ's pursuit of His bride. The alternating of both John and Jean's voices added to the genuineness and transparency of the narrative. As the story moved into deeper waters, with trials following the wedding, the trials themselves become a stage for God to display His goodness and love in the midst of a culture where it is seldom recognized.

I just got the Weaver's book Najiba last night around 5 PM. It's now almost 24 hours later, and I'm already almost 75% finished. I can't put down this book as it reminds me of how God writes our loves story, and how Great is His Faithfulness to us. God was working things out even before John and Jeanne met to get them to where they needed to be to find each other. I'm enjoying this book and look forward to a beautiful ending of the book. I would highly recommend it to others.

I have followed the life of John Weaver since he attended college. Since he was from my home state, I knew he was a "no quitter". While working with a non profit agency before I retired makes his story very real. John, Jeanne and family, Keep The Faith.

This book is a true love story worth telling. John Weaver had committed himself to serving God and ministering to the people of Afghanistan. He had faced many hardships as he struggled to bring humanitarian aid to Afghans living in poverty and displaced by conflict. He stayed after 9/11. He earned the respect of the Afghan people, who called him John-Agha. He has written about his experiences in Inside Afghanistan and A Flame on the Frontline. He and his wife Jeanne share this story with the help of Jeanette Windle. The story is told alternating John’s perspective with his wife Jeanne’s. When they met, John was 34 and single due to divorce. Jeanne was the child of American Foreign Service Workers, who was born in Kabul, but hadn’t spent much time there. Her parents raised her in the church and after she finished college, she found a career in the corporate world. However, God called her to return to Afghanistan to work for a Faith-based NGO and gave her a love for the people. She was given the Afghan name Najiba, hence the name of the book. Jeanne met John while he was in Kabul and God was showing them that He intended them to be together. There were some obstacles, for one thing, she was in Kabul and he worked in rural Feyzabad, miles away in a country with rough terrain. This is the remarkable story of how God orchestrated their courtship and how He was glorified in their wedding ceremonies. There were two, one in Feyzabad and one in Kabul in 2005. The wedding was just the beginning, as they experienced sorrow, blessings and threats during their early years of marriage and starting a family.

I so enjoyed reading this sweet little book. I loved seeing Afghanistan and both John and Jeanne through their eyes and learning about the Afghan culture and people. As a missionary kid who hopes to have a family someday, I was encouraged and inspired by their love story. No matter how isolated from other Christian youth I may be, if it is God's will for me to marry, He will provide a godly young man for me--right where I am. All I need to do is obey Him where I am and trust Him with my heart. Their wedding was also inspiring to read about. Just seeing how significant it was in shining a light for Christ in Islamic Afghanistan was truly amazing. I also appreciated their desire to adopt the culture as much as possible in attempting to combine Christian traditions and symbols with Afghan culture for their wedding ceremony. This book left me with a renewed commitment to serve God where I am and a longing to go to Afghanistan and serve the people there. I can't recommend this book highly enough, and I'm excited to read more of John Weaver's books.

I particularly liked all the details that both John and Jeanne shared about their meeting, their unique courtship and the fabulous details of their marriage. Switching from John telling the story to Jeanne telling her part of the story was particularly effective. I was amazed at all the steps John had to go through to get the officials to recognize that Jeanne was actually his wife and the first child actually his child as they were preparing to return to America. This book certainly held my attention! I have a renewed respect for John and Jeanne Weaver.

I have had the pleasure of knowing John and Jeanne and their five wonderful children for many years. I have read John's two previous books "Inside Afghanistan" and "A Flame on the Front Line" and have anxiously awaited his third book--the story of how he met and fell in love with Jeanne, who would become his wife. Two Americans called by God to help the people of Afghanistan and spread God's love in this war torn country. The book is written in a style that makes it exciting to read--alternating between chapters written by John and then Jeanne. You will enjoy this amazing love story!

Najiba is a fascinating love story that draws you into the story as it also causes you to look into your own story and recognize the times God made clear to you His will for your life. The Weaver’s story reads like fiction, but is even better because it is the true story of finding the one who God has planned for you to spend your life with. The Weavers are an amazing couple who have listened intently to God’s will and followed diligently to carry out His purpose. The story is a blessing and I wholeheartedly recommend reading it!

Beautiful story of how God brought two wonderful people together in the middle of a culture so different from what many of us know (which was really fascinating and heart-breaking at the same time). God provided them a life-long partner but also used their marriage to share the gospel with so many in Afghanistan. It’s amazing to read of everything that the Lord orchestrated in their lives as a result. I have recommended this to friends and family and will probably read it multiple times. This book has the potential for many conversation topics. I highly recommend it, you will be captivated and drawn in from beginning to end.

I enjoyed learning about life in Afghanistan and some of the customs and culture. It was amazing to read how God brought these two Christian workers together in a way that could only be done by God. Pray for the people of Afghanistan.

Najiba is a book I will definitely share with my middle school and high school students. They will be challenged to let God orchestrate every area of their lives and create amazing adventures of faith when they wholly commit their lives to Him. Such a faith-affirming book!

I picked this book up to read late last night and could not put it down. I’m honestly not one for love stories, however this one moved me to tears. A true story about two people who dedicated their lives to advancing God’s Kingdom in Afghanistan, and found each other along the way. This story is amazing from beginning to end. If you have ever doubted God is orchestrating your steps, especially with regard to relationships, this book will lay those doubts to rest.

John Weaver happened to be serving in Afghanistan on 9/11. During the ensuing weeks the world media reached out to him for his expertise. John has now written the story of his courtship and marriage in Afghanistan. It's a great book, especially if you love Hallmark movies or major events on the world stage! International events churn in the background as this love story blossoms.

Over half way through with this book and i just began reading last night! Such an insight into how God has a plan for our lives if we will trust and let him orchestrate it. Reading this love story you are able to see from both perspectives how God was working and bringing them together in a war torn land. Only God!!! Great book to give as a gift!

What an incredibly written book, about the love and obedience of a couple that purposed in their heart, to wait on the best lifelong companion the Father had for them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is wanting to find the relationship “HE has planned for you” or those who enjoy seeing God still at work in our world today. Debbi, my wife of 41 years and I read Najiba at the same time. Through smiles, laughter and tears, Debbi’s response was that she did not want the book to end. I comforted her by saying it is an ongoing story. Their love story will continue in the lives of those in Afghanistan and across the world, that have been influenced by experiencing this amazing family. Their children, Johnny Mack, James Issac, Joy, Josheph and Judah will be a continuance of this love and will provide future sequels as well.

I've read many Christian romance fictional books. This book is by far the best and, better yet, it's a TRUE STORY. This book gives testament to how mighty God's love is and how great his miracles continue to be today! It's a very easy read told from both John's and Jeanne's viewpoints. As the magnificent puzzle of their love story comes together, the reader becomes immersed in the beauty of these two hearts and the glorious way God weaves it together! I have highly recommended this book to many of my family and friends and will continue to do so. If you or someone you know feel like time is running out on their personal love story, this book will give them inspiration and hope!

John's recent book is truly a page turner. I love the way that John's thoughts and Jeanne's thoughts are shared in this beautiful and intriguing true story. Its just amazing to go behind the scenes through the thoughts of each of them from the time and way they met until the time of the wedding in Afghanistan and having their children. I can't wait for more of the story. I have all three of John's books and highly recommend them all.

And it was so good to hear about the events in Jeanne's own voice. As I read I could hear the obvious love for the Afghan people that both have. And what fun to actually read the details of the unfolding of a couple's love for each other, one that was ordained by the Lord himself. This was a real joy of a book to read. Highly recommend!

From a distance I’ve followed John and Jeanne. Reading this book makes me all the more appreciative of them writing their story for us to read. I’ve learned more about Afghanistan culture also. I enjoyed the “divine coincidences” that permeate this story. I highly recommend this book.

A sweet love story in a war-torn country. Delightful story of God bringing together an American couple within the drama and hardship of exotic, war-torn Afghanistan. Fascinating glimpse into their lives and the culture they had adopted as home. Their love for God, love for one another and love for the Afghan people shines through on each page. Enjoyable to read, especially for, but not limited to, those familiar with the people and places. Having walked part of this road with John, I can say this book really captures his unique perspective on life. Interesting and uplifting few hours of reading.

An inspirational love story both romantically as a couple and faithfully towards God and their calling.As an Afghan I really enjoyed reading this book. Just a warning though, make sure you have plenty of time when you first pick up this book because you won’t be able to easily put it down! :)

This book began for me in a low key sort of way but the further on I read, the more deeply I was drawn into this unique life story! Not only is it a grand romance, but it also offers a cultural adventure and insight into life in Afghanistan. Well worth reading!
